Day 3 on the island, and I'm mooching off this cafe's wifi. I do think that this will be a good one. the hospital is small, which is nice, but also results in me having more responsibility, which is less nice. The town is super cute and, like all small towns, the people are kind towards me. The apartment I'm in has (?) wifi, but I don't have the password (yet?) and I barely have any signal. I called the landlord, but he sounded annoyed and gave me nonsensical instructions on how to access it. Sooooo I have been stuck knitting, downloading podcasts/audiobooks whenever I get a waft of internet, and (unfortunately?) sleeping really well. The lack of endless scrolling might actually be good for me? who knew. Part of me thinks I should just learn to cope without constant access (I also don't want to call the landlord again), but I have two roommates who are also complaining about the lack of internet, so I will probably call again later today.

my roommates are nice too, and one of them has actually done an assignment in Terrace. Their contract was in-between mine, so we never met. It's nice to have that in common and to be able to talk about the staff and the town I miss, but will never go back to (fucker). She's had some similar experiences to me (further reading: my old physical diary from 2022 to early 2023).
