Late Welcome Back! Kind of just fun question: if Speaker could be in any other time period, what would it be?

I'm not sure if it counts as a different time period (it probably does to younger folks, but it's within my lifetime ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ) but in my original drafts of Speaker, I considered having it set in the early/mid-90s instead of present day, around 1993/94. I liked the idea of there being the additional challenge of technological limitations (comparatively speaking) of the era, physical maps and no cell phones/laptops/internet and Speaker and Seer bickering over cassette tapes in the car

ultimately, I'm glad I decided to go with a more modern setting, but I do sometimes think about what could have been...

if we're talking drastically different time periods, I think it would be fun to set Speaker in the late 1800's/early 1900's, in the period between the Civil War and WW1. That would've made Speaker and Seer the first generation of the family after Nivio's founding, and would make it overall a very different story 👀
