Biography:

Emmett Brown was born in Borger, Texas and spent the first years of his life living with his mother and grandparents. He didn’t have a father at first and young Emmett often caused trouble, which didn’t reflect well on his mother. When Emmett turned four his mother married a man that hated Emmett for some reason. The first week the man pretty much left him alone but soon after he started beating the boy with his belt. Emmett was always to afraid to say something and his stepfather was too careful to leave a mark on him. Years went on and the abuse continued and then Emmett got a little half sister; Anna. Anna was the jewel of the family, the loved child, the smart one. And Emmett often found himself roaming the streets of the town, quite simply because they wouldn’t let him back in the house. Emmett grew up as the black sheep of his family, nothing he ever did was good enough and he hated it. He hated his sister and his parents. He hated his grandparents for not doing anything and more importantly, he hated himself.

At the age of sixteen Emmett was kicked out and ran away from home and eventually found his way to Houston. The city was busy, loud and way to crowded for him, but it provided him with food. He got himself a job as a bouncer at a club, convincing the owner that he was 21 was pretty easy. He stood tall at 6’3 and he certainly looked like he was old enough to pass. It wasn’t the best paying job and he knew that. So when a HYDRA scientist offered him a good paying research gig he jumped at the chance. Emmett was locked up, abused, tortured and broken. After three years in that hell hole he finally managed to escape. He fled into the desert and stumbled upon a small community. The next thirty years were spend building a house, a new life and coming to terms about what happened to him.

In 1990 Emmett got his first call from Xavier but turned the offer down. Everything he had was in Texas and he was starting to fall for a man from the city. For years Emmett was his friend and build a strong relationship with him. But that all changed the moment Emmett came out of the closet. His friend Mark had looked at him in disgust and walked out on him. Mark told the entire community about Emmett’s sexuality and soon Emmett was forced to take Xavier’s offer and move. He’s ashamed of his sexuality but tries to hide his shame. To everyone he trusts he’ll say that he’s gay and proud to be one, but the ghosts of his past aren’t that easy to tame. In public Emmett will try to stick around women to hide his true self, it’s his way of protecting himself.

Emmett now works for Xavier, a job he takes extremely seriously. And even though he absolutely hates the winters in New York, the institute is his home now.

After SHIELD fell, Emmett left the institute and moved into his apartment with sixteen year old Troy and the newborn Carran. Both boys are now legally his sons and Emmett is struggling to balance the single father life with his duties for SHIELD.

Stranger things verse:

Emmett was the first child they experimented on, 001. His powers were mostly based on physical mutations and super strength, which is why they didn’t keep him around the labs for long. Deemed as useless by Brenner, he was sent off to the military where he fought as a super-soldier amongst the ranks in the cold war. Going on espionage and covert missions. He’s called back to Hawkins after the events of Season 3 and comes in to collect the bodies of Jim Hopper and Billy Hargrove. (Or to pick their wounded asses up, whatever your preference is.)
