(thought id ask since u r the foremost gottlieb blogger) hi! recently i saw a post from a couple years ago about the official cause of hermann’s disability being an explosion/accident in a factory during the kaiju war, and it said that this was confirmed in a comic or some other piece of canon material; do you know if this is actually mentioned at all in any piece of pacrim media??? thank u :)
the foremost gottlieb blogger...perhaps the greatest compliment i have ever received (even though there's DEFINITELY people better at it than me).....thank you 🫡 🫡 🫡 🫡
ANYWAY to answer your question, as far as I'm aware there isn't an official confirmed cause, or at the very least I'm not aware if any tie-in material has definitively confirmed one! If anyone knows otherwise feel free to reply/whatever!

Author asks
Rules: answer these questions and tag five other fic writers to do the same.
I was tagged by @bellakitse. Anyone can do this if you feel like it and say that I tagged you.
Author Name: Enchantable/PlanetSam
Fandoms You Write For:  Mostly right now it’s Roswell but I’ve written for a bunch of them (stranger things, pacific rim etc)
Where You Post: tumblr and Ao3 but I also posted on fanfiction.net back in the day.
Most Popular One-Shot/Most Popular Muti-Chapter Story: None of them? I love everyone who takes the time to read/review/kudos my work but i’m definitely not a popular author in any fandom.
Favourite Story You Wrote: I think the big au stories are my favorite because I love making wiki pages for them and keeping everything in line. I feel like you can sink into them too which is always fun. Of the oneshots I’ve got soft spots for all of them. I think though oneshots like Pick which involve more nuanced portrayals of PTSD symptoms are among my favorite. That and the wingfic.
Story You Were Nervous to Post: Literally everything. Especially in the Roswell fandom. I swear when I post and that message window comes up I’m like ‘oh no, what did I do this time’. Usually it’s about Maria or people not liking how I write Alex or my love for Michael Guerin. Thankfully the real rage is usually reserved for metas on my blog.
How Do You Pick Your Titles: I pick them around a theme! For Roswell I’m doing astrology and space themes.
Do You Outline: It depends on the story. I have a vague, very fluid outline for multichapters or when I’m turning a oneshot into a multichapter or if a story is very complicated. Otherwise my outlines are usually checkpoints of dialogue or plot points and then I got back and figure out how to get there--or go off the rails from that.
How Many Of Your Stories Are Complete: The vast majority. I’m very into the satisfying short story thing, but I am diligently working to finish my multichapters.
In-Progress: Okay honestly I usually get asked for follow ups so frequently I’m not sure any story is truly completely.
Coming Soon: I’m almost done with updates for my other mutichapters and I’ve got two prompts in progress.
Do You Accept Prompts: Yes! But with the understanding that I don’t answer them in order. I jump around a lot. I do try to get to everything though and I’m happy to give off anon updates on specific prompts. The ones I won’t fill are prompts that break my basic ground rules in my FAQ.
Upcoming Story You’re the Most Excited For: I’m excited to continue my multichapters since I missed them. And I’ve got a oneshot where everything’s the same except Alex doesn’t come home from war. He’s in the story though and you can just guess how things play out until I post it.

can you and @regencysnuffboxes make a Pacific Rim AU happen? Or has it already been done?
god we’re getting requests now
i think it exists somewhere in the ether but i don’t think hallie and i ever made one because she’s not as Into It as me
i can see what i can do but i’m not great at fleshing out aus without someone egging me on and also i’m not great at making things that i have to actually think about instead of pulling random ideas out of my head and immediately typing them but give me some time and maybe something will come of it sorry
some crossover content i’ve seen though: i do think at one point someone on here was talking about a thing where crowley and aziraphale were in the shatterdome or w/e (that may be a fic on ao3?) and they piloted a jaeger or something also maria @hermannsthumb has written one or two cute lil things where newt/hermann and crowley/aziraphale Is The Same if you want to check out her blog

@monthms tagged me in this cute lil question meme thingy so here we go! this got so long lmao
Rules: create another 11 questions + tag people. (I’m terrible at these because I never tag people because I think I’m annoying them sorry!!)
Questions from Gabi!
1. Where are you from (if you’re comfortable with sharing)?
Australia born and raised, half australian half filipino.
2. How and when did you start coding?
I started when I was about 14/15 years old maybe? I used to use blogspot religiously lmao (my friend got me into it) and I had some things about the layouts I used that I wanted to change so I googled those questions. And when I switched to tumblr I was still pretty new but tumblr is definitely where I got hooked on coding.
3. Is coding websites also your job or only a hobby?
Future job! (graphic designer/front end web developer hopefully) I’m a student at the moment.
4. Did you change your url in the past? What were your previous urls?
This is my first url for this blog! I originally went peach to match it with my resource blog at the time.
5. Which of your codes is your favourite and why?
I think out of all my themes (tbh there’s not many, I’ve released a lot more pages which I definitely want to change) my favourite would have to be either Rosewater because of the split design layout and responsiveness or my newly released theme Fate because I think it just looks so clean! And for my pages it’d definitely be Inkheart.
6. Is there anything you want to improve about your codes?
Absolutely, I want to do way more complex designs as well as try to find my style and niche. I also wanna make sure my code is organised and neat, I already try to do that but I can always improve.
7. What do you do when you feel stuck with coding?
I take a break, especially when I’m feeling burnt out. I just focus on other things I enjoy like watching a tv series or reading a book. Basically just not thinking about it til I feel refreshed and come back to it.
8.  What/Who gives you inspiration?
Hmmm. This is really hard! I get a lot of inspiration from the members of CH, they’re so amazing. And of course the people I follow on instagram/dribbble/behance, there’s so much talent out there it’s insane. If I’m just using a site or an app and I come across an interesting layout or feature I’ll take note of it.
9. What do you do in a free time (other than coding)?
I like to play video games (playing divinity original sin 2 atm!), watch tv/movies/anime/yt, read books/comics/manga, god this is hard?? what do I even do with my time?? I’m quite an introvert so a lot of the things I like to do are single person activities lmao. Oh! I like to clean out my pc! I’ll regularly go through and mass delete stuff I don’t need/use and reorganise my files. I find it quite relaxing.
10. Favourite music artist(s) and song(s) you like recently.
Picking my favourite music is always so hard because I typically just listen to a particular song for months on end. I’m going to just go ahead and pick five songs from my main playlists!
early 2000s punk rock vibes
Mr. Brightside - The Killers
Nicotine - Panic! At The Disco
This Ain’t A Scene, It’s An Arms Race - Fall Out Boy
Girls & Boys - Good Charlotte
When I’m Gone - 3 Doors Down
out of body vibes
Often - The Weeknd
Beggin For Thread - Banks
Stranger Than Earth - Purity Ring
1988 - Chet Faker, Banks
Say My Name - ODESZA, Zyra
melancholic vibes
Big Jet Plane - Angus & Julia Stone
Heartbeats - Jose Gonzalez
Poison & Wine - The Civil Wars
Little Do You Know - Alex & Sierra
Wicked Game - James Vincent McMorrow
streetlight vibes (my favourite playlist, I can’t explain how these songs make me feel)
III. Telegraph Ave. - Childish Gambino
The Night - HONNE
Say It - Flume, Tove Lo
Pink + White - Frank Ocean
Atlantis - Seafret
throwback vibes (iconic songs from my childhood that I still listen to on the daily)
Pony - Ginuwine
Toxic - Britney Spears
Survivor - Destiny’s Child
Kiss Me Thru The Phone - Soulja Boy
Tik Tok - Kesha
11.  Any books/TV shows/movies to recommend?
This is just a random selection of things I’ve enjoyed!
TV - Star Trek: Discovery, Broadchurch, Luther, Terrace House, The Bletchley Circle, Outlander
Films - any Ghibli movie, Inception, Mad Max Fury Road (literally my favourite movie ever I’ve watched it so many times), Pride and Prejudice (2005 version is ICONIC), Pacific Rim (love me some drift compatibility)
Anime/Manga - Boku No Hero Academia (I love my frog girl Asui and my birb boy Fumikage), Made In Abyss, Fullmetal Alchemist (lit my childhood), Death Note (also my childhood - don’t talk to me about any of the live action versions thank u), I’m hesitant to rec Shingeki No Kyojin because of how trash the second season was so if you just watch season 1 and read the manga you should be all good
Books - I read a lot of YA lmao. The Lunar Chronicles, The Raven Cycle, The Secret History, Red Queen, Vampire Academy (my early teenage years), The Study series by Maria V Snyder is one I reread constantly in high school. I started reading The Other Boleyn Girl the other day when I was staying at my bf’s house so I’m curious about how it is. I’ve also been reading The Witcher series lately! (I want to finish them before I play TW3) and I’ve really been enjoying them.
If you made it this far then I love you and appreciate you.

Hi!
So recently, in the past couple of weeks/months, I’ve gotten quite a few new followers. This is my introduction to y’all and way of saying hi.
Tumblr media
My name is Sarah, and I am currently 19 (I’ll be 20 come June but I’ll be getting to that)
I love writing! It’s a passion of mine and I hope to someday commit to one story and put it out there for everyone to read. In the meantime, I write fanfiction. I am a part of many fandoms and so you’ll randomly get content from each occasionally but the only things I consistently post/reblog are DC (specifically Batfamily) and RWBY. If you followed me for my writing I’m sorry about the lack of updates--I have less than 2.5 weeks left of this semester and then I’ll be back at it.
I am Mormon/LDS. If you have any questions feel free to ask but my blog is a hate free blog. I myself am bi and just came out like yesterday, to 5 people and everyone here on tumblr, so if you have questions there you should also feel free to ask! I go to BYU-Idaho and am an English major with a minor in Communications (my emphasis’ are Professional Writing and Communication Management)
Tumblr media
I love getting messages, whether its from mutuals needing to gush about a show/game/fandom or anon’s with prompts or questions. Literally, nothing except for hate will bother me. I am a needy lonely creator who wants more friends.
BUT
I made the decision over a year ago to serve a mission for my church, which means that for 18ish months (give or take a few weeks) I will have no access to tumblr or any other form of social media. Serving an LDS mission is a 24/7 thing that for sisters lasts 18 months. I was called to Eugene Oregon and report May 17th. I can’t guarantee to be back on tumblr till at least January 2019, so any messages I receive in that 18-month gap won’t get answered for a long time if at all.
Fandoms:
Seirei no Moribito
Red vs Blue
Mass Effect
Halo
DC (mainly Batfamily and all animated content)
Marvel (really on a Cap and AOS fan)
Harry Potter
Spiderwick Chronicles
Lord of the Rings
Star Wars
Star Trek
Final Fantasy
Supernatural
Sherlock
Chopped (ITS A THING)
RWBY
Voltron LD
Pacific Rim
Jane Austen (ANYTHING Austen, I’ve read Pride & Prejudice over 30 times)
Kaichou wa Maid Sama!
Oban Star Racers
W.I.T.C.H.
Kim Possible
Danny Phantom
Redwall (anything written by Brian Jacques)
Fablehaven
and that’s to just name a few. I do ship Superbat and am currently writing a long-fic with a genderbent Bruce Wayne but I’m not sure I’ll finish it before my mission.
Ships/OTPs:
Superbat (Batman+Superman)
Destiel (Dean Winchester+Castiel)
Ironwitch (James Ironwood+Glynda Goodwitch)
CapHill (Steve Rogers+Maria Hill)
Qrowin (Qrow Branwen+Winter Schnee)
the love square that is Miraculous Ladybug
Shidge
I think that’s it? If you ever want to message me privately just specify that in the message otherwise, I’ll assume I’m good to post it.
That’s me!

Art F City: This Week’s Must-See Art Events: Bollywood Musicals, Music for Dogs, Zines at the Pool
vimeo
This might feel like a slow week, but you’ll need to plan wisely. This weekend is packed with big events that span all day or more.
Friday, celebrate NYCxDesign (and Tom Dixon’s first New York showroom) with Dezeen at a block party in SoHo. Then rush to Williamsburg for the opening night of the Brooklyn Art Book Fair. They have programming scheduled all day Saturday too. But you’ll probably want to spend Saturday visiting all the idiosyncratic locales Lenka Clayton and Jon Rubin’s …Circle Through New York intersects. Alternately, head to the other side of the city for open studios in Sunset Park, which run until 6 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.
There’s plenty more to do all over town this week, and even an excuse to catch the PATH to Journal Square if you’re local wanderlust can’t be sated by four boroughs of art events.

Tue
Marlborough New York
40 West 57th Street New York, NY 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.Website
Santiago Calatrava
Santiago Calatrava’s smaller sculptures often lack the sheer drama his buildings convey based on scale. Nevertheless, fans of the Spanish architect should check this show out. It’s always interesting to see how architects and designers work out ideas in other media (remember Zaha Hadid’s sci-fi-looking paintings at the Guggenheim?). Here we can likely look forward to Calatrava’s signature balance of organic and geometric forms, deployed and experimented with at a smaller scale than a bridge or metro station.
Wed
EFA Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop
323 W 39th Street New York, NY 6:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m. Website
Kenny Rivero: Hear My Dear
Kenny Rivero’s work has a sort-of dark comic/pop sensibility while remaining painterly. I’m curious to see how that translates to printmaking. Here, he’ll be showing recent monotypes and lithographs. If the image above (Black Panther logo?) is any indication, they’ll be as lovely as his paintings.
Thu
Asya Geisberg Gallery
537B West 23rd Street New York, NY 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Website
Jasper de Beijer: The Brazilian Suitcase
Dutch artist Jasper de Beijer’s latest body of work is a fictionalized series of travelogues spanning nearly a century. The images are a mix of staged photography and computer simulations, imagining a series of anthropological expeditions to the Amazon and contact with isolated tribes. The series looks to be a biting commentary on colonialism, but it should be interesting to see how this is received. I wouldn’t be surprised if this became one of the most controversially-debated shows of the week.
yours mine & ours
54 Eldridge St. New York, NY 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.Website
Esther Ruiz: Static Limit
The first time I saw Esther Ruiz’s work, I was blown away by her dreamy neon and mixed-media sculptures that feel world-building no matter their scale. In Static Limit, editions of her oddly-shaped neon-and-plexiglass black mirrors will orbit a freestanding sculpture in the center of the gallery, recalling the “static limit” at the edge of a black hole’s gravitational field. That sounds heady, but trust us, the result will be something beautiful and sleek that still feels playful and idiosyncratic.
Fri
Howard Street
New York, NY 5:00 p.m.Website
Dezeen & Tom Dixon's NYCxDesign Block Party
To celebrate the month-long NYCxDesign festival, Dezeen (one of our fav blogs) has partnered with British designer Tom Dixon and other retailers on SoHo’s Howard Street for a good ol’ fashioned block party.
This one will, naturally, have an emphasis on design, including an installation of Dixon’s light fixtures spilling out into the street. In a month jam-packed with design events, this might be the best to go rub shoulders.
Mccarren Pool
776 Lorimer St. Brooklyn, NY 7:00 p.m. - 9:00 p.m.Website
Brooklyn Art Book Fair
The world has too many art fairs, but could never have enough art book fairs. That’s because the publications fair is the opposite of its stuffy distant cousin: accessibly priced, inherently democratic in nature, and generally just more fun.
This past month we’ve check out Open Space’s Publications and Multiples Fair and the Brown Paper Zine Fest (both in Baltimore) and are happy to report that many of the same names will be showing their wares in Brooklyn this week. The Brooklyn Art Book Fair, Hosted by BHQFU and Endless Editions, looks like it will be a blast (although, for logical reasons I have never heard of a book fair at a pool before) with performances and readings Friday night and Saturday afternoon. No running.
Vendors: 3 Dot Zine, Audrey Ryan, Belladonna*, Birds LLC, Black by Maria Silver, Mactaggart Jewelry, Brooklyn Arts Press, Brooklyn Poets, Carrier Pigeon Magazine, Christina Martinelli, Cory Siegler, Desert Island Comics, EOAGH, Elijah Wheat Showroom, EFA Robert Blackburn Printmaking Workshop, Elliott Jerome Brown Jr, Endless Editions, Eyelevel BQE, Inpatient Press, Leslie Lasiter, Lorelei Ramirez, Lost & Found: the CUNY Poetics Document Initiative, Memefrito, MFU: New York, Molly Soda, Monk Books, Nandi Loaf, Pegacorn Press, Potatoe Press, Press Press, Printed Matter, Quimby’s, Ruth Stone Foundation, Slow Youth, Small Editions, Soft City Printing, Sorry Archive, Third Man Books, Txt Books, Unity Press, UpSet Press, Wonder, Zebadiah Keneally
Sat
Various (Guggenheim Museum, et. al...)
1071 Fifth Avenue New York, NY 11:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Website
...Circle Through New York
What do music for dogs, a Felix Gonzalez Torres installation, a Punjabi television show, and an institution dedicated to ancient studies have in common? These are but some of the attractions in the sprawling circus known as …Circle Through New York from ringmaster artists Lenka Clayton and Jon Rubin.
The project, as its title suggests, involved the artists drawing an arbitrary circle that connected Queens, Manhattan, and the Bronx (sounds like a Robert Moses freeway!). They identified points of interest along its route, from the Guggenheim Museum, to the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World, a pet store in the Bronx, and various other locations such as churches.
The project all these venues will be collaborating on? Reinterpretations of the so-called “oldest song in the world”, according to scholars at the Institute for the Study of the Ancient World. This old-ass song will be reborn as music for dogs in the Bronx, a Bollywood-style musical in Queens, and performances by church choirs in Harlem and Upper East Side museum staff. This should be extremely weird, and a great chance to take lesser-travelled corners of the city.
Here’s a list of all locations
Loew's Jersey Theatre
54 Journal Square Jersey City, NJ 8:40 p.m. - 10:15Website
Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior
The Jersey City Great Movie Sequels Weekend is such a good idea. The standout feature: Mad Max 2: The Road Warrior. This is definitely the type of movie my friends and I would dress up to go see. If my recent visit to art school was any indication, the post-apocalypse is trending hard with young artists right now, and it’s easy to see why.
At any rate, this film offers the most glamorous take on what Australia will be like whenever the insane leaders of the USA and DPRK, respectively, turn the Pacific Rim into a nuclear wasteland. So see it while it still feels like a fantasy!
Sun
Industry City Studios and Trestle Art Space
254 36th Street and 850 3rd Ave, Suite 411 Brooklyn, NY 12:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m. Website
Sunset Park Open Studios
This event begins on Saturday from noon to six, but we recommend heading out Sunset Park on Sunday so as not to compete with all the other stuff happening this weekend.
For now, Sunset Park is a hotspot of artist studios. That might change, given the Mayor’s ill-conceived economic development plans for the area. But before the “Made in NY” scheme displaces everyone, come see what’s been being Made in NY without the help of a megaproject, thank you very much.
Over 100 artists will open their doors at Industry City Studios, and a few blocks down 3rd ave at Trestle Art Space’s open studios, the following artists will be showing their goods:
Sara Brooks, Cynthia Brown, Melissa Capasso, Ronit Levin Delgado, Joan Di Lieto, Abigail Groff Hernandez, Kristen Haskell, Meredith Hoffheins, Lehna Huie, Rhia Hurt, Jessica Rose Jardinel, Richard Kessler, Myra Kooy, Taeko Kuraya, Younghoo Lee, Jessica Lipsky, Mary Malcolm, Sarah Malcolm, Dexter Miranda, Michela Muserra, Tony Mosca, Steve Nedboy, Jen Nista, Mari Renwick, Scott Robinson, Aima Saint Hunon, Rachel Scharly, Myla Seabrook, Carlos Torres-Machado, Annie Trincot, Koren Volk, Chris Weller, Gerry Wolk, Harold Wortsman, Heidi Yockey, Cindy Zaglin

2023 newt/hermann exchange (interest check + brief poll)
hi Newt/Hermann nation!! it's November at last, so as per the annual tradition i'm gearing up to run the newmann secret santa/winter gift exchange once again! I got an ask about it earlier this fall and it seems like there's enough interest that I can go ahead and start sign-ups soon. (as a reminder on what the gift exchanges are, here's the info post from last year--stay tuned for another one this year, lol)
i DID want to run a brief poll to get opinions on the length of the exchange. more on this below the cut!
in the previous years i've run the secret santa exchange I typically have the matches ready and out by late november/early december, with the 'due date' being around new year's in january (barring extensions, last minute pinch hitters, and belated gifts of course!). in a newmann discord chat recently I had a few people suggest expanding the loose deadline to be around valentine's day in feburary instead so it can be a nice long winter holidays exchange. this would give people at least two months to work on gifts rather than just December! and this way the deadline won't be in the middle of in a very busy season (ie, holidays, parties, family obligations, final exams if you're in school, and so on). of course you would still be welcome to gift by new year's if you would like :)
i'll keep the poll up for a week but will most likely open exchange sign-ups earlier than that if one option is winning by a landslide. full disclosure, I'm leaning towards the extended deadline, but I wanted to make sure other people don't have large newmann/pacrim fandom events planned for jan/feb that I would be overlapping with!
whether you vote or not, I would also greatly appreciate if you could drop a reply or a like on this post if you are planning on signing up so I can get a rough idea of how many people might be participating this year! it helps me budget time for doing the matches/contacting everyone
thank you for being a very fun fandom and making it a pleasure to run these kind of things!!!

I’ve been so scared to check your blog and see that you weren’t active, but you are!! I just got into the Pacific Rim fandom and have been seeing your fantastic work on AO3, but I often read from oldest to newest so I wasn’t sure if you’d still be around. I just wanted to pop in and say that I love your work :))
AH thank you so much, that's so sweet!!!!! I hope you've been having fun catching up on fic/art/whatnot!! they will simply have to drag me out of here at this point, lmao

are physical copies of the zine available? where can I order it?
Hi!! If you mean the Newt/Hermann anniversary zine @k-sci-janitor and I pulled together, it's a digital release only! We do however have some very cute physical merch up on the shop too that's available for pre-order right now. You can find both of those on the shop link right here. (We didn't really have the time for managing a printed zine, plus this way we didn't have to worry about page limits--aka why it's over 500 pages, haha.) 💕👨‍🔬💕👨‍🔬💕
BUT there's also the 10 year PR anniversary Edge of Hope zine, which does have physical copies available for pre-order right now!!! I was a guest writer for that and have a little piece in it :) that shop is right here
