That's How You Change the World-Geekymoviemom (ao3)Â Summary: Following his flogging in the Square, Katniss tells Peeta a story to help him sleep. A short companion piece to By Your Side, set following chapter 34. This was originally published in the charity collection A Candle for the Caribbean, which raised over $4000 to benefit islands devastated by Hurricane Maria in 2017. That Time We Took Over the World-Gamemakers (ao3)Â Summary: Being a session guitarist pays well, but Katniss Everdeenâs always wanted a taste of the spotlight. Enter Peeta Mellark, whose boyband fame faded twenty years ago, and a not-quite-dying wish from an old friend, and sheâs in for way more than she bargained for. The B Word-Xerxia (ao3)Â Summary: From a Tumblr prompt 'I wish you would write a fic where ... katniss is like gordon ramsay in kitchen nightmares' (I've edited the prompt here for brevity) The First Smile-geekymoviemom (ao3)Â Summary: The first smile is such a sweet moment in baby's life. Suddenly everything you do for him seems worth it. The Fog-hutchabelle (ao3)Â Summary: The Capitol hijacked Peeta. Primrose Everdeen is anxious to help him recover and rediscover his love for her sister. To Primâs surprise, Peeta doesnât seem nearly as interested in Katniss as he does in someone else. Prompt: What if? The Interview-Xerxia (ao3)Â Summary: This has all of the makings of the most uncomfortable job interview of all time. The Lightning Tree-Grace_d (ao3)Â Summary: At night, I wake screaming of mutts and hot, bloody rain. After Prim reassures me itâs not real and drops back to sleep, I trace my fingers over the paper dandelion on my wall. I remind myself of the things I know are true, improbable as they seem. That Iâm not concussed or crazy. That my life is about to catch fire, as sure as the arena did after I shot that arrow, but maybe this time I wonât get burnt. The Only Time We've Got-FanficAllergy, RoseFyre (ao3)Â Summary: In a world remarkably similar to Damaged, Broken, and Unhinged, Darius makes a different choice. And it will make all the difference. A minimalist AU of an AU. Because every author is allowed to be self-indulgent. The Parting Glass-FanficAllergy (ao3)Â Summary: Haymitch Abernathy. In memorial. The Primrose Path-hutchabelle (ao3)Â Summary: This chapter was written for d12drabbles, prompt 1--An Unexpected Letter.

How are you helping the women's liberation movement? Such a access to abortion clinics and so on... I rarely see you post anything that has to do with women unless it's about trans women and other non-binary afabs...
Hey there Anon, we are an anti-fascist social media collective consisting of ten people in eight countries. We've been doing our thing since 2014. In that time we have: -been documenting and tracking hate-motivated violence targeting women. -provided legal defence funding to 100 feminists arrested in Germany for stopping a fascist march against abortion access (via The International Anti-Fascist Defence Fund) -provided additional support (via the Defence Fund) to this teacher, this other teacher, this woman, this community college staffer, this PNW woman, this waitress, Louise Thundercloud, two moms in SC, this victim of the 2017 Charlottesville terror attack, this BLM defender, Lina, Alissa Azar, Kita and Xvedia, Tabitha, and this Filipina activist, among others. -profiled anti-fascists like Marina Abiol, Hedy Epstein, Jane Elliot, Leah Feldman, Giovanina Berneri, Zora Neale Hurston, Ida B. Wells, Yuri Kochiyam, Natalie Tran, Elizabeth Mironova, Lyudmila Pavlichenko, Magda, Arundhati Roy, Anastasia Baburova, Zinaida Portnova, Marina GinestĂ , Heather McGhee, Akilah Green, Fanya Schoonheyt, Sophie Scholl, Tina Anselmi, Faye Schulman, Hanna Bohman, Viola Liuzzo, Joan Trumpauer Mulholland, Maria Kislyak, Maria Dimadi, Georgette Kokoczinski, Irma Bandiera, Franceska Mann, Rebecca West, Lepa Radic, Giovannina Caleffi, and Audrey Hepburn, among others. Still, we could be posting more, of course! Why don't you tag us on posts from your tumblr you think we should reblog/signal boost? (finally, we get a whiff of "all lives matter/TERFishness from your objections about us not posting enough about "women" except for "trans women" - we hope that's not how you intended your msg!

Nicholas Britell (born 1980)
Nicholas Britell (born October 17, 1980) is an American film and television composer. He has received numerous accolades including a Emmy Award as well as nominations for three Academy Awards, and a Grammy Award. He has received Academy Award nominations for Best Original Score for Barry Jenkins' Moonlight (2016) and If Beale Street Could Talk (2018), and Adam McKay's Don't Look Up (2021). He also scored McKay's The Big Short (2015), and Vice (2018). He is also known for scoring Battle of the Sexes (2017), Cruella (2021), and She Said (2022). The HBO original series Succession (2018â2023) marked Britell's entry into television. Britell scored all four seasons, earning the Emmy Award for Outstanding Original Main Title Theme Music in 2019. His score for the second and third season in Succession each earned Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series nominations in 2020 and 2022. His score for The Underground Railroad was nominated for the Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Composition for a Limited or Anthology Series, Movie or Special in 2021. His works, as described by Soraya McDonald of Film Comment, "seem to organically straddle accessibility and sophistication in a way that goes beyond the typical programming of a big-city pops orchestraâŠThat might have something to do with the fact that Britell has long had one foot in the world of hip-hop and another in the world of classical music."
Nicholas Britell is a Steinway Artist and a Creative Associate of the Juilliard School. In December 2018, it was announced that Britell would be a part of Esa-Pekka Salonen's newly formed creative collective "brain trust" as Salonen takes the reins as music director of the San Francisco Symphony. â SEPTEMBER 02, 1822 â Maria Leopoldina of Austria signs the Decree of Independence of Brazil
On September 2, 1822, a new decree from Portugal arrived in Rio de Janeiro while the Prince Regent of Brazil, Dom Pedro, was in a political tour in the Province of São Paulo. The letter overturned the Brazilian government and demanded the immediate return of Pedro to Portugal. Since August 13 the Princess Maria Leopoldina of Austria was the Acting Princess Regent of the Kingdom of Brazil and head of the Council of State in the absence of her husband. Aware that Portugal intended to relegate Brazil again to the status of a simple colony rather than a kingdom united to that of Portugal and fearing a civil war the Princess acted imediately. Maria Leopoldina met in the morning of 2 September 1822 the minister José Bonifåcio de Andrada e Silva and summons the Council of State. She signs on that day the Decree of Independence, declaring Brazil separate from Portugal. Leopoldina sends Pedro the news, along with letters from her and from José Bonifåcio urging him to proclaim the independence of Brazil. On September 7, 1822 at the shore of the Ipiranga River in São Paulo the letter reached Dom Pedro and he declared the independence of Brazil from the former United Kingdom of Portugal, Brazil and the Algarves. The Prince and Princess then became Emperor Dom Pedro I of Brazil and Empress Consort Maria Leopoldina of Austria.
Coincidentally, 196 years later, on September 2, 2018 the Palace of SĂŁo CristĂłvĂŁo, then the home of the Museu Nacional (National Museum of Brazil) was destroyed in a large fire. The palace was the residence of the Portuguese Royal Family and the Brazilian Imperial Family between 1808 and 1889, and housed the Museum and itâs collection of natural history, ethnology and archaeology since 1892. The facade of the building still stands, but the approximately 122 rooms and the majority of the 20 million objects of the Museumâs collection were lost.
LetĂcia Colin as Princess Maria Leopoldina of Austria, the Empress Consort of Brazil, Queen Consort of Portugal and Archduchess of Austria in âNovo Mundoâ (2017).

Sympathy for the Devil
Bats and devils are among the most popular topics associated with Halloweâen. Â Of course, the research collection in the Section of Mammals has worldwide examples of bats species, but we donât find them scary and we think about bats and their vital ecological roles all year long. Â Perhaps more mysterious and less well-known are the two Devil specimens stored among the wombats, kangaroos, and koalas in our collection. Â Even school children have heard about *our* kind of devils. Â Yes, the Tasmanian devil (Sarcophilus harrisii) is a marsupial â a pouched mammal, like our opossum â that is found only on the island of Tasmania, located some 140 miles off the southeast coast of Australia. Â Fossil evidence tells us that it once lived on the Australian mainland, but it may have been wiped out on the continent by the introduction of the Dingo, Australiaâs legendary wild dog. Â Â
The Tasmanian devil is a stocky mammal with short legs, short black fur and a distinctive white throat patch. Its head is noticeably large for the size of the body. An adult male may weigh up to 20 lbs. They are nocturnal with a good sense of sight, smell, and touch. Devils are known to cover significant distances nightly, in search of carrion or prey. They can move surprisingly fast and seem to enjoy swimming. In the wild, individuals can live between five and seven years, but many die within the first year of birth. Although it is the largest living marsupial carnivore, the Tasmanian devil is predominantly a scavenger.
A close look at the skull shows evidence of space on the side of the head for large jaw muscles. For its size, the Tasmanian devil has the strongest bite force of any mammal â more powerful than even a hyena! With the large masseter muscles and especially large molars, it can easily crush bone. In fact, devils are such efficient carrion-eaters that they willingly consume an entire carcass, including the fur. Â
Although this animal gained a reputation for having a bad disposition, it is speculated that this impression was derived from the poor conditions it was kept in when first captured for observations. Since then, it sometimes has been kept humanely as a pet and been found to be much friendlier than initially reported. Tasmanian devils do not seek each otherâs company except during the mating period. However, they often come together to feed on a dead animal, where vocalizations and as many as nineteen different behavioral cues are used for communication. These communal gatherings are characterized by aggression and loud sounds, described as âfrequent growlingâ and âblood-curdling screamsâ! Â
In 1996, a sad chapter began in the existence of the Tasmanian devil. A deadly infectious cancer called devil facial tumor disease, began to spread within the population. In 2012, the Australian government transferred 30 disease-free individuals to tiny Maria Island off the coast of Tasmania, in what was called âisland insuranceâ, while researchers worked on perfecting a vaccine. By 2017, the disease had led to a 90% extinction rate on Tasmania. In hopeful news, by 2019 there were indications that surviving individualsâ immune systems may be undergoing modifications to fight the disease. In early September 2020, a consortium of conservation groups released 11 Tasmanian devils to a wildlife sanctuary in the state of New South Wales, placing the Tasmanian devil on the Australian mainland for the first time in more than 3000 years.  An additional 15 devils were released in early October and more releases are planned.
Currently, the Tasmanian devil is not extinct, but its recovery hangs in the balance. It would be tragic if we are left only with museum specimens and Taz, the Looney Tunes cartoon image, of this fascinating mammal. Â
Suzanne B. McLaren is the Collection Manager in the Section of Mammals at Carnegie Museum of Natural History. Museum employees are encouraged to share their unique experiences from working at the museum.

Open for bootleg trading~
Hello all! I am posting my bootleg list here for now as a temporary list until I get my website up and running- I am open to trading! Iâm mainly looking for any Cats production- preferably English or Dutch but any musical would be nice to have and expand my collection.Â

NOTES: Video quality isn't the best, and audio is sometimes on the softer side. Still a very entertaining show.
Anastasia - Broadway - September 6, 2017
FORMAT: (VOBs w/ smalls)
CAST: Christy Altomare (Anastasia), Derek Klena (Dmitry), John Bolton (Vlad), Ramin Karimloo (Gleb), Caroline O'Connor (Lily), Mary Beth Peil (Maria Feodorovna), Zach Adkins, Sissy Bell, Lauren Blackman, Kyle Brown, Janet Dickinson, Constantine Germanacos, Wes Hart, Ken Krugman, Shina Ann Morris, James A. Pierce III, Molly Rushing, Nicole Scimerca, Johnny Stellard, Allison Walsh (Ensemble)

Format: VOB + smalls (7.58 GB)
CAST: Adam Jacobs (Aladdin), Courtney Reed (Jasmine), Merwin Foard (s/b Jafar), Michael James Scott (s/b Genie)
NOTES: Beautiful HD capture of latest Disney Broadway offering. Great to see the changes from the Toronto tryout. Michael and Merwin do terrific jobs as Genie and Jafar.
Beauty and the Beast New Zealand April 2006 - Proshot
Format: .VOB w/ smalls
Cast: Jade Steele, Russell Dixon, Glen Drake, Rob Ormsby, Gladys Hope
NOTES: Only the first act & first part of act two!Â
Beauty and the Beast (Disney) - Broadway - July 27, 2007 (Unknown's video master)

NOTES: Two days before the show closed on Broadway. Good amount of closeups and good quality filmed from the mid-mezzanine; there is a railing issue for a while in Act 1 but the taper improves. 'Me', 'Gaston' and 'Be Our Guest' are all predominantly missing and recording stopped for some time after 'Gaston', which created a little jump in the timeline to where Maurice gets thrown out of the tavern. Still a nice video with great closeups of the last Broadway cast.

CAST: Catherine Charlebois, Thaddeus Pearson, Johnny Stellard, Steve Hitchcock, James Beaman, Katie Banks-Todd, Karen L. Robu, Lexis Danca, James Heinrichs, Timothy W. Robu, Tanner Pflueger, John Boldenow

Great audio as well.Â

NOTES: Some people walking across the image for a few seconds during Jennyanydots and Rum Tum Tugger's number. Sometimes a head is visible but not obstructing the action. Almost no white-outs with very good video quality. Audio is very crisp as well. Filmed from a higher seat, but zooms are excellently done and fluent. Overal an amazing bootleg!

cool comments from President B*ls*nar* (serious content warning for just about everything)
âI visited a quilombola. The lightest Afrodescendant there weighed seven arrobas. They do nothing. They are not even good for procreation anymore.â (April 2017. "Quilombolaâ = Afrodescendant communities originally established by escaped slaves. âArrobasâ = weight measurement for cattle/livestock.)
âIt is a shame that the Brazilian cavalry hasnât been as efficient as the Americans, who exterminated the Indians.â (12 April 1998. Correio Braziliense.)
âIndians are undoubtedly changing. The Indians are evolving. More and more they are increasingly becoming human beings just like us.â (23 January 2020. Presidentâs Faceb00k Live broadcast.)
âThe Indians [...]. We are going to integrate them into society. Just like the army which did a great job of this, incorporating the Indians [...].â (3 August 2018. Globo News.)
âI said I wouldnât r@pe you because you donât deserve it.â (2014. Speaking to fellow Congress member Maria do R0sario, restating a similar comment he said to her in 2003.)
âOur Amazon is like a child with chickenpox. Every dot you see is an Indigenous reservation.â (Publicized by NY Times in 2018.)
âYouâll never change anything in this country through voting/elections. Nothing. Absolutely nothing. Unfortunately, things will only change when a civil war breaks out here and we do the job that the military regime didnât: Killing 30,000. Killing them! If a few innocent people die, thatâs fine. In every war, innocents die.â (May 1999. Speaking on television.)
âI would be incapable of loving a homosexual son. [...] Iâd rather my son died in an accident than showed up with some guy with a moustache,â (June 2011.)
âNot a centimeter more will be demarcated either as an Indigenous reserve or as a quilombola.â (3 April 2017. Hebrew Club.)
âBrazilian prisons are wonderful places. [...] They are places for people to pay for their sins, not live the life of Reilly at the spa.â And: âAre we obliged to give these bastards (incarcerated people, prisoners) a good life? They spend their whole lives fucking us [...]. They should fuck themselves, full stop. Thatâs it, dammit.â (Both from February 2014.)
âThis time, the cleanup will be even greater.â (21 October 2018. Speaking about the military dictatorship and how, if elected, there will be a âcleanupâ reminiscent of the dictatorship and its mass torture/imprisonment.)
âIâve got five kids but on the fifth I had a moment of weakness and it came out a girl.â (2017.)
âThere is no Indigenous territory where there arenât minerals. Gold, tin, and magnesium are in these lands, especially in the Amazon, the richest area in the world. Iâm not getting into this nonsense of defending land for Indians. [...] Reservas Indigenas sufocam o agronegocio [Indigenous reserves obstruct agribusiness].â (22 April 2015. Campo Grande News.)
âIâm in favor of torture. You know that. And the people are in favor as well.â (1999. Television.)
âIâm in favor of a dictatorship. We will never resolve serious national problems with irresponsible democracy.â (1992.)
âAre [gay people] demigods? Just because someone has sex with his excretory organ, it doesnât make him better than anyone else.â (February 2014.)
âThe Indians do not speak our language, they donât have money, they donât have culture. [...] How did they manage to get 13% of national territory?â (22 April 2015. Campo Grande News.)
âYou have to understand that the Amazon is Brazilâs not yours [Indigenous people and their advocates]. [Developing the Amazon] is fulfilling a mission from God. [...] You want the Indigenous people to carry on like prehistoric men with no access to technology, science, information, and the wonders of modernity. Indigenous people want to work, they want to produce, and they canât. They live isolated in their areas like cavemen.â (July 2019. Spoken at press conference at UN.)
âIn 2019 weâre going to rip up Raposa Serra do Sol [Indigenous land in Roraima region]. Weâre going to give all the ranchers guns.â (21 January 2016. Spoken in front of Congress.)

Had been having a hard time finding an English-language collection of his remarks.

Announcing the representation of Rick Lowe
September 20, 2021
Gagosian is pleased to announce the representation of
RICK LOWE
__________ New Painting Will Be Revealed as Part of Galleryâs Artist Spotlight Online Series Artist Will Be Featured at Art Basel 2021 and in Upcoming Social Works II Exhibition in London First Solo Exhibition Is Scheduled for September 2022 in New York Gagosian is pleased to announce the representation of Rick Lowe. Loweâs numerous collaborative projects, undertaken in the spirit and tradition of âsocial sculpture,â are paired with an extensive body of work in painting, drawing, and installation. Working closely with individuals and communities, he has identified myriad ways to exercise creativity in the context of everyday activities, harnessing it to explore concerns around equity and justice. Influenced by Joseph Beuysâs formulation of âsocial sculpture,â he has moved from figurative âanti-paintingâ to the making and maintenance of projects aimed at the transformation of social structures and sites, and to symbolic abstract painting. In 1993, Lowe cofounded Project Row Houses in Houstonâs Third Ward, working with fellow artists James Bettison (1958â1997), Bert Long, Jr. (1940â2013), Jesse Lott, Floyd Newsum, Bert Samples, and George Smithâas well as with neighbors and other creative thinkersâto establish a cultural district in a block and a half of derelict shotgun houses. Loweâs work in Houston has also led him to initiate and participate in other community enterprises throughout the United States and abroad, including the Watts House Project (1996â2012), an artist-driven redevelopment organization in Los Angeles; a collaboration with British architect David Adjaye on a project for the Seattle Art Museumâs Olympic Sculpture Park (2005); and the production of Trans.lation: Vickery Meadow, a group of six pop-up community markets, for the Nasher Sculpture Center in Dallas (2013). Among his ongoing initiatives are the Victoria Square Project (2016â), a collaboration with Maria Papadimitriou in Athensâs Victoria Square in the context of Documenta 14; Black Wall Street Journey (2018â) in Chicago; and Greenwood Art Project (2018â21) in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Having used the game of dominoes to engage with residents of the Third Ward during the development of Project Row Houses, Lowe devised a visual language based on the resemblance between his aerial photographs of the game and maps of urban districts. By tracing and layering the patterns he discovers in these images, he continues to produce paintings and drawings that, while visually abstract, represent the reconfiguration and movement of communities over time. Lowe has exhibited these works in institutions worldwide including the Phoenix Art Museum; Contemporary Arts Museum Houston; Museum of Fine Arts, Houston; Museum of Contemporary Art, Los Angeles; Neuberger Museum of Art, Purchase, New York; and Kumamoto State Museum, Japan. Lowe will inaugurate the third season of Gagosianâs Artist Spotlight series, an online program launched in April 2020. A collection of related editorial contentâincluding an exclusive video featuring an interview with the artist filmed in his Houston studioâwill launch on September 29. A new painting inspired by his collaborative public project in Athens, and related stylistically to his dominoes works, will be revealed on October 1 and made available exclusively online for forty-eight hours. Lowe will also be featured in the galleryâs booth at Art Basel this month, and in the upcoming Social Works II exhibition in London, which opens on October 7. Loweâs first solo exhibition at the gallery is scheduled for fall 2022 at Gagosian New York. Rick Lowe was born in 1961 in rural Russell County, Alabama, and lives and works in Houston. Collections include the Brooklyn Museum, New York; Institute of Contemporary Art, Miami; and Menil Collection, Houston. Solo exhibitions include Art League Houston (2020). Group exhibitions include No Zoning: Artists Engage Houston, Contemporary Arts Museum Houston (2009); Economy, Centre for Contemporary Arts, Glasgow, Scotland (2013); and Polis, Museo de Antioquia, MedellĂn, Colombia (2018â19). He also participated in Documenta 14, Athens (2017). Among Loweâs numerous community art projects are Project Row Houses, Houston (1993â2018); Watts House Project, Los Angeles (1996â2012); Borough Project (with Suzanne Lacy and Mary Jane Jacob), Charleston, SC (2003); Small Business Big Change, Anyang Public Art Program, Korea (2010); Greenwood Art Project, Tulsa, OK (2018â21); and Black Wall Street Journey  Chicago (2018â).Lowe is a recipient of the Rudy Bruner Award for Urban Excellence (1997), American Architectural Foundation Keystone Award (2000), Skowhegan School of Painting and Sculpture Governorâs Award for Outstanding Service to Artists (2005), Skandalaris Award for Excellence in Art and Architecture (2009), Creative Timeâs Leonore Annenberg Prize for Art and Social Change (2010), and Texas Medal of Arts Award in Visual Arts (2015), among other awards. In 2013 President Barack Obama appointed him to the National Council on the Arts, and in 2014 he was named a MacArthur Fellow. Lowe is currently a professor of interdisciplinary practice at the University of Houston. _____ Rick Lowe. Photo: Brent Reaney

ABOUT THE EVENT (some excerpts via google translate, you can read the whole thing on the link provided)
Paul B. Preciado
A NEW HISTORY OF SEXUALITY
October 15 - 19, 2020, at 5:00 p.m.
Large hall, Small hall, Cinema 2, Forum - Center Pompidou, Paris
Free admission, limited seating available
Every year since 2017, the Center Pompidou has offered a guest intellectual the opportunity to develop a thought project. For the year 2020, the institution is pleased to welcome Paul B. Preciado: philosopher and curator, he is one of the most important contemporary thinkers in the studies of gender, sexual politics and the body. On this occasion, Paul B. Preciado offers a public and performative seminar around a new history of sexuality, more than forty years after the fundamental work of Michel Foucault. Started last March and interrupted by the coronavirus pandemic, the seminar returns in compact form from October 15 to 19, and is transformed into a ârevolutionary cluster.â
âWhen we started the seminar at the Center Pompidou at the beginning of March, my objective was to make a new history of sexuality after Foucault, with Foucault and against Foucault. This new transfeminist, queer and anti-colonial history, starting from an analysis of the patriarchal and colonial infrastructure of modernity and intends to reflect on the ongoing transformations of technopolitical devices of violence and control of the living, but also on the different modalities of subjectivation critical. The first session was a huge constituent assembly of bodies against the norm. Then all of a sudden the virus and containment arrived. The sessions planned for the seminar have been suspended. The management of the virus has not only caused a health and economic crisis, but also a political and aesthetic crisis.Â
On the one hand, inequalities and forms of control and violence against sexual, racial and migrant minorities were amplified during the crisis. The unexpected interruption of the rhythms of production and consumption of neoliberal capitalism has allowed us to experience another life. The death of George Floyd in the United States at the hands of the police, and the trial of Adama Traoré in France quickly generated waves of protests, followed by an international movement of criticism and demand for the restriction of racial violence and institutional sexuality, both on the part of the police and other state administrations, inequalities and forms of control and violence against sexual, racial and migrant minorities were magnified during the crisis.
In this context, I decided to modify the initial program and move from a new, more theoretical, solo story of sexuality to a choral narration of the current revolutionary process. It is now a question of appealing to a multiplicity of politically active voices and bodies, in writing, philosophy, cinema, dance, contemporary art, theater, music ... which participate in the dismantling of the patriarchal and colonial infrastructure of society.
Here are the voices and bodies of the CLUSTER:
Sarah Diehl comes to speak to us about the new reproductive emancipation movements and the responses to neofascist sexual policies in Poland, Hungary, as well as in other apparently democratic contexts. Maria Galindowill share with us the challenge of the struggles of indigenous sex workers in Bolivia. François VergĂšs, Elsa Dorlin and Elisabeth Lebovici will help us read this process of emancipation in the context of a longer history of decolonization of feminism and queer struggles. NadĂšge Beausson-Diagne, AdĂšle Haenel and Rokhaya Diallo invite us to proliferate anti-patriarchal and anti-racist strategies within cinematographic and audiovisual representation in France. Shu Lea Cheang presents a performance that criticizes gender, gender and racial discrimination in rape trials. Kengne TĂ©guĂa denounces the supremacy of the valid body and calls for an urgent critical organization of feminist, trans and anti-racist movements with disabled minorities. Virginie Despentes, Yseult and Melissa Laveaux, with writing and music, give shape to anger and summon the forces of poetry as engines of transformation of desire. And Volmir Cordeiro and Pol Pi make the body wounded by patriarchal and colonial violence dance and begin to compose a dance for the coming revolution.â ---Paul B. Preciado

Grey Street meets Linnea Gits and Peter Dunham, the creative minds behind Uusi Design Studio
This week weâre chatting with artists Linnea Gits and Peter Dunham about Tarot, their artistic processes, and their inspiring surroundings.Â
First things first, tell us a bit about yourselves! Where are you from, and what are your star signs?
Peter and I are both artists working in the field of design. We grew up in the western suburbs of Illinois in the USA and spent most of our lives living and working in Chicago. Peter received a BFA at Northern Illinois University, and we met the summer after his graduation in Chicago. At that time, Peter had a small art studio in the West Loop, and I began apprenticing with him for sculpture and painting. We started dating and eventually moved in together and found a great space - a vast, light filled loft that was once a furniture factory - in a very industrial part of the city that became our home and studio. Close to downtown, low rent, and located in a remote area of the city, this space gave us the freedom to grow our artistic ideas unhurried by the marketplace.
Along the way, our art practice merged with design, and in 2010 we launched Uusi with the idea that life was worth the meaningful effort, and its reward was one of discovery. Within a year of our studioâs launch, we had established Uusi as a creative identity in our hometown of Chicago. A few years later, the wildly successful launch of our Pagan Otherworlds Tarot in 2016 introduced our work to people all over the world. We continued our journey within the Tarot world with a loyal and growing client base for esoteric content and objects, adding an Oracle and two more Tarot decks to our published titles. Working with the Tarot and the creative community surrounding it has been one of the most rewarding experiences of our lives.Â
In 2017 we decided to relocate to an area that we had long dreamed of calling home: Michiganâs Upper Peninsula. We traded the cityâs fast pace and social energy for a slower life in the forest. It was a move that matched our spiritual exploration and has brought us an enormous amount of joy. We now spend our workdays surrounded by deep woods, nine acres of which holds a clearing for rolling farmland where a small dairy farm, built by a Finnish settler in the late 1880s, sits alongside a wandering creek. We knew the minute we saw it, that we were home and purchased it without a second thought. We are taking time, between art and design work, to carefully restore the hand-built, square-hewn farmhouse that is now our home and studio back to its original, humble beauty. Working on this old farm feels sculptural and sacred and feeds both our body and soul - good for anyone, and most definitely for this early Leo (Peter) and Sagittarius (Linnea).
A selection of early work by Linnea
Where were you first introduced to Tarot and Oracle, and what inspired you to start creating decks?
Peter has been collecting old playing card decks and tarot cards for years. He loved the imagery and the quality of vintage decks, and we often used them as inspiration for design projects we were working on at the studio. In 2012 we began a playing card series, and that naturally led us to the Tarot. We loved the meaningful content of the Tarot and how it accessed our minds and our hearts with the creative language of the soul. It is the search we are all on, the individual story that mingles with the ordinary magic of the world to reveal our most authentic self which, in turn, makes us feel most alive.Â
A selection of Peterâs early work
Is there a particular deck that you are most proud of, or a specific card that you are really proud of designing?
We are proud of all of our decks! But we definitely have favourite cards from each one. Strength, The Tower, and Death from Pagan Otherworlds. The Lovers from Eros: The Garden of Love. The element cards and The Secret cards from Supra. The Transactinides from Materia Prima that join to create a tableau that nods to Durerâs masterful, Melancholia engraving. These are just some that stand out whenever we work through the decks, but every card has its creation journey, both enjoyable and painful and sometimes even surprising, but ultimately rewarding.Â
How does the artistic process for creating Tarot and Oracle differ from your artistic process when creating less spiritual designs?
We have always worked with a great deal of intuitive direction. Color, form, and hand-drawn line create physical feelings that express themselves emotionally and instinctively within you. We have always felt that design should connect with you in this truthful way â it should meet your inner nature as well as the outer one. It should be both useful and beautiful, and if it is, it will be alive and self-creating, which we feel is the definition of spirituality. And that is something that can â should! â meet you in a spoon, table, or deck of cards as much as it does in a church, a tarot, or any meditative object.Â
Wooden animal set designed by Linnea and Peter, featured in the New York Times and at Design Within Reach.
I see that you draw inspiration from Celtic mysticism, renaissance illustrations, the beauty of nature and jungian psychology. Are there any âmodernâ things that you find personally inspiring? Film, music, artists, etc.
All of those inspirations continue to be modern, ha! But yes, we have contemporary favorites. We are big science fiction fans â 2001 A Space Odyssey is a work of art. As is the original Star Trek :). In music, we range far and wide: Metal, Folk, Classical, and pretty much everything in-between. We have an eclectic taste but it's very particular. Peter posts some of our favorites at the studio on our IG account and has a loyal following for those music finds. We also love Japanese printmaking and craft â both old and contemporary. And books!! I am a total book nerd. I'm currently reading "Figuring" by Maria Papova. An insanely inspiring, beautiful work. I also picked up the recent edition of "Fool" magazine, "The Japanese Issue" (in my second life I want to be a sushi chef), and every article was fascinating. Anything by the writer/photographer, Teju Cole. Love the fashion designer Simone Rocha. The Fine Artist, James Kerry Marshall. Relaxed modernism. The grateful invitation to enjoy the quiet, humble luxury of our neighbor's sauna on a cold winter night. Snowshoeing in the woods after a snowfall. Gardening. Our cat, TMobile. Our dog, Yuki. My nephew's drawings. Dark nights filled with stars! The inspiration list is endless.Â
Soulful sketch of a moose, illustrated by Linneaâs seven year old nephew Beckett.
If you could go back in time and meet your childhood selves, what advice would you give to them?
Linnea: Bake more pies with Grandma B, but take it easy on the sugar â you donât need to be the mayor of Candytown.Â
Peter: Follow your heart like you did the first time.
Is there anything you are currently working on that you would be happy to share with our readers?Â
We have a new playing card deck called "Republic" coming out in the spring! We haven't created a new playing card deck for our studio in over four years, so it's pretty exciting for us. The deck's inspiration is Finnish/Nordic folk art and design. There is a large Finnish community in the Upper Peninsula, especially in our hometown of Republic â a Finnish settler built the home that now houses Uusi â how serendipitous is that! And we are excited to have a deck that bears the name of this local community that we love so much. We are also working on a special tarot project that we will be talking about more this summer :)
Uusi âRepublicâ playing deck, coming out June 2021

George Harrison, Friar Park, circa 1990; photo by Terry O'Neill.
George's jukebox at Kinfauns has been explored by the Harrison Archive (and is available as a playlist here), thanks in large part to an article about it, published in the Record Mirror's 1 January 1966 issue.
George's jukeboxes at Friar Park, however, are a little more obscure. The following playlist of songs featured on the jukeboxes and mentioned in some way from 1970 onward is an approximate one only, based on doing some digging into print interviews, audio interviews, and written pieces by family and friends. (The tracks include information previously posted on the Harrison Archive. For - hopefully - easier navigation, I've also bolded the artists -- and tracks known for certain to have been either on the jukeboxes or George's favorites.)
"Stardust" (instrumental) - Hoagy Carmichael "Our son, Dhani, and I, like Georgeâs friends, were spoiled by his rich and loving presence: from the morning wake-up call, which could have been (depending on our location and mood) a morning raga, a Vedic chant, a Mozart concerto, Cab Callowayâs âBugle Call Rag,â or Hoagyâs earliest instrument version of âStardust'..." - Olivia Harrison [read more]
"Canât Help Myself (Sugar Pie Honey Bunch)" - The Four Tops "Rescue Me" - Fontella Bass
These tracks receive shoutouts in George's "This Song" (and the Four Tops were Sixties favorites, too, appearing on his Kinfauns jukebox).
"Between the Devil and the Deep Blue Sea" - Cab Calloway Clearly a favorite by one of his favorite artists, covered by George for Jools Holland's TV show, and also released on his posthumous album Brainwashed.
"When I'm Cleaning Windows" - George Formby "September In The Rain" - Dinah Washington "Dizzy Fingers" - Zez Confrey
George was a member of the George Formby Society (and attended conventions with Olivia and Dhani), and became friends with another attendee, Ray Bernard, who recalled the latter two of the above songs as some of George's favorites. (The Beatles also covered "September In The Rain" for their Decca audition; I'm not sure if George preferred Dinah Washington's version to any other, but its release year is closest to when the Fabs covered it, hence the inclusion on the playlist.)
"A Shine On Your Shoes" - Fred Astaire
Covered by George in a home video shared by the Harrison Family in the Guitar Collection app and the deluxe limited edition of Living In The Material World (and, on 1 February 2020, by Olivia on her Instagram, where she explained that George was playing a Danny Ferrington Keoki ukulele).
"True Love" - Bing Crosby & Grace Kelly
George covered this song as well, for his 1976 album Thirty-Three & 1/3. As Olivia recalled on Dark Horse Radion in 2018: "We'd been watching âȘBing Crosby⏠and Grace Kelly, watching that movie ['High Society'], and they do a duet, and just that little harmony thing they do, because she wasnât known as really a singer; heâd play and then we'd sing it." [read more]
"Roll Over Beethoven" - Chuck Berry
A longtime favorite, George covered this with The Beatles, during his 1991 Japan tour, and during his 1992 Natural Law Party concert, where it became the last song he played live onstage at a concert in his lifetime. As George said, "there hasnât been any rock & roll better than that." [read more]
"Hong Kong Blues" - Hoagy Carmichael
Hoagy Carmichael was a favorite of George's, and he covered this song for his 1981 album Somewhere In England.
"Barnacle Bill the Sailor" - Hoagy Carmichael
A favorite, associated with George by Dhani, and mentioned by Olivia. "He would go up at parties to the DJ and say, âIâve got something really amazing.â âCause he was who he was, they would listen to him, and then everyone would just be bummed out, it would clear the dance floor. And then heâd come back later - âIâve got something elseâ - and heâd put it on again. You know, he would just do this until the DJ was like [exasperated]." - Dhani Harrison, la minute rock, Rolling Stone France, 28 Nov 2017 [read more]
"Midnight Special" - Leadbelly "I'm So Lonesome I Could Cry" - Hank Williams "The Great Pretender" - The Platters "Words Of Love" - Buddy Holly
The songs themselves might not be George's favorites or jukebox selections -- as yet, I haven't found any mention of actual song titles, so these are just personal choices -- but the artist were mentioned by George and Olivia; and "Words Of Love" was obviously a favorite, having been covered by The Beatles, and, according to Mark Lewisohn's Complete Beatles Chronicle research, initially having been sung by George and John.
"The Ying Tong Song" - The Goons "I'm Walking Backwards For Christmas" - The Goons
Both these tracks were mentioned by Olivia as having been on the Friar Park jukeboxes in December 1974.
"The Lumberjack Song" - Monty Python "Spam Song" - Monty Python "Layla" - Eric Clapton
These tracks were mentioned by Eric Idle as having been on George's jukeboxes at Friar Park. "The Lumberjack Song" was of course also performed at the Concert for George.
"Heartbreak Hotel" - Elvis Presley
Eric Idle also recalled early Elvis being on the jukeboxes; and of course, George named the song as his first musical root.
"Blue Suede Shoes" - Carl Perkins "The Bells of Rhymney" - The Byrds
These two Perkins and Byrds songs were mentioned as favorite songs by George in the March 1997 issue of Guitar World.
"Mauna Loa" - Gabby Pahinui
Another artist loved by George, although again, this track choice is just a haphazard personal one, since there doesn't seem to be any public mention of which of Pahinui's songs were George's preferred ones.
"Ooo Baby Baby" - The Miracles "I'll Try Something New" - The Miracles
George absolutely loved The Miracles, and Smokey Robinson specifically, collecting their records, and writing songs in honor of Smokey ("Ooh Baby (You Know That I Love You) -- a nod to the first of the two Miracles tracks listed here -- on the 1975 album Extra Texture, and "Pure Smokey" on the 1976 album Thirty-Three & 1/3). As Olivia has recalled: "We used to sit around singing a lot of Smokey Robinson songs. That kind of sealed our relationship, I think. [George] said, 'You're the only person I've ever known who sang the high note at the end of "I'll Try Something New."'"
âBack On The Chain Gangâ - The Pretenders âBrothers In Armsâ - Dire Straits âCold Day In Hellâ - Gary Moore
The three tracks by The Pretenders, Dire Straits and Gary Moore were mentioned as favorites by George in the March 1997 issue of Guitar World.
"Long Tall Sally" - Little Richard
George was a Little Richard all his life, as various comments over the years show.
"Tandoori Chicken" - Ronnie Spector "I Am Missing You" - Lakshmi Shankar "Rebel Music" (live) - Bob Marley & The Wailers
Put down on tape during the "Try Some, Buy Some" sessions, "Tandoori Chicken" was an improvised song, as George recalled: "a 12-bar thing done on the spot with Mal our roadie and Joe the chauffeur." For Dark Horse Records, and featuring Lakshmi Shankar, one of [George's] favorite singers," another song for this playlist is "I Am Missing You." The Marley track was chosen from the setlist of the three 1975 Roxy show attended by George and Olivia, recalled by George as "the best thing I've seen in ten years. [...] I could watch The Wailers all night."
"The Rain Song" - Led Zeppelin "Don't Talk (Put Your Head On My Shoulder)" - The Beach Boys
"The Rain Song" was written in response to a comment made by George, and subsequently made it on one of the two jukeboxes. The Beach Boys song was on the jukeboxes, and -- like "The Rain Song" -- played at the wedding of Dhani and Sola, as reported by Vogue in 2012.
"Signed, Sealed, Delivered, I'm Yours" - Stevie Wonder "Telephone Line" - Electric Light Orchestra "Come On In My Kitchen" - Robert Johnson "When The Levee Breaks" - Memphis Minnie
All four of these artists were mentioned as favorites by George in a 1976 interview. (The titles are arbitrary choices, since the interviewer didn't ask George for any further details. However, Johnson's "Come On In My Kitchen" was covered by George and band during rehearsals for the Concert for Bangladesh.)
"Maria Elena" - Ry Cooder "Concert in B (live in 1963) - Andrés Segovia
Two artists mentioned frequently by George as being favorites (Segovia first in 1963 -- hence the choice of a live piece from that year -- and up through the 1990s). The Cooder track was specifically mentioned by Olivia in the June 2018 issue of Songlines.
"Piano Concert No. 21" - Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
Olivia mentioned a Mozart concerto as being something George would play in the mornings as they were starting the day, so this is another random choice of a concerto.
"The Weight" - The Band
The atmosphere of the song inspired the Harrisong "All Things Must Pass," as George recalled in 1987 -- he also named it as a song he admired in that same interview. In a 1974 interview with Capital Radio, George deemed The Band "the best band I've ever seen."
"Farther On Down The Road (You Will Accompany Me)" - Jesse Ed Davis
A Harrisong was given to Jesse by George, and recorded by Jesse before it was released by George himself (but since "Sue Me, Sue You Blues," the song in question, is already on a collaborations playlist....); this Davis selection (written by Jesse and Taj Mahal) was covered live by George and Eric Clapton in December 1978.
"Isn't It A Pity" (cover) - Nina Simone "Backwater Blues" - Big Bill Broonzy "Changes" - Bix 'n' Bing
Nina Simone's cover of the Harrisong "Isn't It A Pity" in turn influenced the mood of another Harrisong; and Dhani recalled listening to Simone, Big Bill Broonzy (who is name-checked in the Harrisong "Wreck Of The Hesperus") and Bix 'n' Bing together with his dad (these tracks are once more personal choices).
"April Kisses" - Eddie Lang
The first song on this playlist, "Stardust," was "one of [George's] favorite songs," as Olivia has recalled; she also named Eddie Lang (though she didn't mention a specific title).
"Kalimankou Denkou" - Le Mystere des voix bulgares
George enthused about this Bulgarian choir in numerous interviews, and introduced this particular song during his interview on Rockline in February 1988.
"Taxes On The Farmer Feeds Us All" - Ry Cooder
"Later, after a lasagna dinner in his ornately paneled kitchen with his wife Olivia, their son Dhani (just home from his school year at Brown University in the States), and Oliviaâs sister, Linda, Harrison takes his visitor upstairs to his Friar Park Studio. Picking up a nearby National dobro from the vast array of vintage guitars hanging from the walls, Harrison slips a glass bottleneck on his finger as he seats himself to strum 'The Farmer Is The Man Who Feeds Us All,' the traditional tune of 1860s America made famous in the 1920s by Fiddlinâ John Carson and later popularized on Ry Cooderâs 1971 'Into The Purple Valleyâ album as 'Taxes On The Farmer Feeds Us All.' 'Thatâs where I first heard the tune,â'says Harrison of Cooderâs interpretation, before he begins to sing: 'The farmer is the man, the farmer is the man/Buys on credit until the fall/Then they take him by the hand/And they lead him from his land/And the merchant heâs the man who gets it all.'" (Billboard, 19 Jun 1999)
"God's Own Drunk" - Lord Buckley
This particular Buckley piece was mentioned by George in a 1979 radio interview promoting his eponymous album, and the song "If You Believe": "Pray, give up, and it all recedes away from you. I donât know if you⊠you must have heard Lord Buckley, you know, well, there is a thing he did called 'Godâs Own Drunk.' I think it was that. Anyway, it was one of Lord Buckleyâs things and he was talking about love. He said: 'Love is like a beautiful garden, you know, when you use it it spreads, but when you donât -- it recedes.' And itâs true. Itâs really that in its simplest form." [read more]
"Free Fallin'" - Tom Petty
As Dhani has said, he can remember "getting advance copies sent to my dad from Tom. Heâd be like, 'You want to hear Tomâs new stuff?' And it would be the first time anyoneâs heard 'Free Fallin'." (Premier Guitar, Jan 2018)
"Let It Be Me" - The Everly Brothers
Covered by George in a demo version after seeing the Everly Brothers in concert (George's cover appears on Early Takes Vol. 1).
"Clair de Lune" (cover) - Isao Tomita
One of George's favorites, as Olivia has recalled.
"MĂ©xico Lindo y Querido" - Jorge Negrete
Negrete was mentioned as a favorite by George, and Olivia recalled Negrete being on George's jukebox.
"Bugle Call Rag" - Cab Calloway
Recalled by Olivia in her introduction for Harrison, and as George's school wakeup call for Dhani.
"Cool River" - Maria Muldaur "Fear Of Flying" - Charlie Dore
Two more specific songs mentioned or covered by George.
"Sweet Leilani" - Bing Crosby
Mentioned as a favorite of George's by Tom Petty, and by Olivia.
"Every Grain Of Sand" - Bob Dylan
Named as one of George's favorite songs in his June 1999 Billboard interview: "I mean, you tell me one person other than Bob Dylan who has a moral message in a tune that's improved upon Bob's words in his song 'Every Grain of Sand.'"
"Kaliyuga Varadan" & "Ragam Tanam Pallavi" & "Gajavadhana" - U. Srinivas
One of George's favorite artists, as he, Dhani and Olivia have recalled; these three particular tracks were singled out by Olivia in the June 2018 issue of Songlines.
"Raga - Manj Khamaj" - Ravi Shankar "Guru Bandana (Prayer)" - Ali Akbar Khan "Abhogi" - Hariprasad Chaurasia "Kafi Holi (Spring Festival Of Color)" - Ravi Shankar "Enna Thavam" - Papanasam Sivan "Thumri - Mishra Tilang Raga - Addha Taal" - Sultan Khan "You And Me" - Zakir Hussain "Raga Chayya Nat" - Kala Ramnath
The eight selections above are mentioned by Olivia in the June 2018 issue of Songlines.
âMĂ©xicoâ - Mariachi Sol de Mexico
In 1998, George commissioned JosĂ© HernĂĄndez - founder of Mariachi Sol de MĂ©xico - to translate and arrange the Harrisong "Dark Sweet Lady" in Spanish, as a special version for Olivia. While that recording is understandably a private one, mariachi music seems to have been a favorite of the Harrison family and the Arias family, as it's mentioned as having been played at family events held in California. And: "Last year I brought over a mariachi orchestra [Mariachi Sol de MĂ©xico] and we had a private concert at Friar Park because I got tired of waiting 30 years for someone else to do it. It was my way to let my friends experience that music â which was what George was always trying to do. He wanted people to understand and be moved by the music that he loved." - Olivia Harrison, Songlines, Jun 2018
"Last Thoughts On Woody Guthrie" - Bob Dylan "Bhoop Ghara" - Hariprasad Chaurasia, Shivkumar Sharma, Brij Bhushan Kabra
"George used to always say that if ever you are not feeling right, you should listen to Bob Dylan's 'Last Thoughts on Woody Guthrie' and 'Call of the Valley.'" (Olivia Harrison) This track from "Call Of The Valley" was mentioned by Olivia in the June 2018 issue of Songlines: "[it was] something George had on our juke box. We played it as a remedy in our home if you were feeling a certain way. Kabra was one of Georgeâ' heroes as a slide guitarist, up there with Ry Cooder."
"Sarve Shaam" - Ravi Shankar
From the 1997 album Chants of India (produced by George), the song was also performed at the Concert for George, and was clearly very special to George, as Olivia remembers: "At the end of his life George said to me that all he could listen to was 'Sarve Shaam.' After all the sounds and sights and tastes you experience over a lifetime, it came down to the purity of 'Sarve Shaam.'"

Thomas Heaphy (b.1775 - d.1835), 'Portrait of a Family, traditionally identified as the wife and children of Richard Bingham, 2nd Earl of Lucan (b.1764 - d.1839)', watercolour on paper, c.1812, British, sold for 2,500 GBP in Bonhams Private Collections sale, October 2018; London, England.
From the Estate of Veronica, Dowager Countess of Lucan (b.1937 - d.2017).
If the attribution is correct, the individuals above could be identified as any of the following:
Lady Elizabeth Howard (b.1770 - d.1819) nee Belasyse, wife of Richard Bingham, 2nd Earl of Lucan, aged 42, and their children:
Lady Elizabeth Bingham (b.1795 - d.1838, m.1815 to George Granville Vernon-Harcourt, eldest son of the Archbishop of York) aged 17;
Lady Anne Bingham (b.1797 - d.1850, m.1816 to Alexander Murray MP, of Broughton), aged 15;Lady Louisa Bingham (b.1798 - d.1882, m.1817 to Francis Charteris, Lord Elcho, son of the Earl of Wemyss), aged 14;
Lady Georgiana Bingham (b.1799 - d.1849, m.1821 to Charles Nevill of Leicester), aged 13;
George Charles Bingham (b.1800 - d.1888, later 3rd Earl of Lucan), aged 12; andÂ
Richard Camden Bingham (b.1801 - d.1872, secretary of legation at the court of Bavaria, m.1848 to Maria Thomas), aged 11.Â
There was also a Lady Charlotte Bingham (b.1796 - d.1805), who predeceased the paintingâs creation.
The age of the sitters seems far removed from the age of the age of the mother at the time of the paintingâs creation (age 42) so a tentative identification of the sitters is as follows (from right to left): Richard, George, Louisa or Georgiana, Elizabeth, and Anne.
The lineage information comes from Courthope, William (ed.), 1839, âDebrettâs Complete Peerage of the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Irelandâ, J.G. & F. Rivington: London, pg.580.
#i had a very good time sleuthing all this information#and writing it up#it might actually be the most comprehensive coverage of the family available haha#it seems strange to me that one of the younger daughters is missing too!#thomas heaphy#unknown sitters#known sitters#unknown sitter#known sitter#earl of lucan#watercolour on paper#1810s#british#bonhams#london#countess of lucan
