I love reading steel samurai fan fictions, fics about a non-existent show. Or even regular ace attorney fics that mention it. It’s so beautiful to me, it’s like goncharov but weird fandom-ception where we’re gonna make those characters feel our pain with shipping gay ships that they know will never be canon, heteronormativity, a director/writer being an ASS(obligatory fuck sal manella), fandom wars, projecting on characters that get done dirty…like if I have to deal with how narumitsu is basically canon in all but name, I’d love to read about Miles Edgeworth freaking the fuck out over magisteel. That is all, thank you fanfic writers.

Everyone knows about when an ace attorney character has a really on the nose name for their job or for like, being the murder suspect or whatever, but not everyone knows that sometimes if a character is just meant to be super unpleasant their name will be be really on the nose for that too

Already talked about this on Twitter, but

I really dislike Gumshoe as a character.

He was never funny. His gimmick of being a little pathetic servant to Edgeworth WAS NOT FUNNY. His living situation being treated as a joke as well as his constant emotional and physical abuse from his superiors wasn't funny and never will be. He should've just been replaced by Ema in investigations. His interactions with Pearl and Maya always came off as kinda creepy to me. He's poorly written and should've never existed in the first place. His character has no depth or nuance and I wish the writers at capcom would've just taken a second to proofread their work.

Which brings me to my favorite ace attorney character-

Sal Manella!

He's genuinely well written and blends well with the rest of the cast. Him using 4chan lingo was always hilarious and never overdone. Him and Maya interacted super well and he even made a spinoff show just for her!! I wish he could've been brought back in the franchise and I hope capcom does something with him in the future!

the motives for the aa1 accomplices are all something i understand deeply.

april may did it because she was being threatened with murder and was trapped under the thumb of someone more powerful than her.

lana skye did it for her younger sibling who she valued and cared for more than her own self.

sal manella did it because he found dee vasquez incredibly attractive.

all very valid reasons
