TW: Death, Blood, Murder, Assassination. My interpretation of Riju’s mother’s death :) /
Riju was only a little girl when her mother died. Her memory was fuzzy, but she could still picture the moments before her death crystal clear.
Like most little kids, Riju had a fight with her mother. It was something so trivial that the reason was completely gone from her memory.
But she remembered storming into the desert, her sneakers leaving deep marks into the sand, as she muttered and groveled under her breath. Waving her hands around frantically.
Riju didn’t mean to get lost that day. She was still young, and didn’t know the desert like she does now. It all looked the same to her back then. Big, sandy hills and hot wind that whipped at her cheeks.
By the time she realized that she was lost, the sun had set and the cold was creeping in. She looked around, confused, feeling tears weld up in her eyes. All she saw was yellow and orange, and the endless sea of sand.
“Mama?”
Her words were hoarse, on the verge of breaking, as her bottom lip began to quiver.
“Mama?”
She repeated, louder this time. But all she received was dead silence.
Until she heard the sound of chuckling behind her.
The girl wiped around, coming face-to-face with a group of Yiga Clan members. Riju didn’t know who the Yiga Clan were back then. To her, they were just scary masked people.
To them, she was a highly valuable asset. But it was up to their leader to decide if she would die, or be used as a hostage. But they needed to get her to the hideout first.
A gloved hand as big as Riju’s entire arm reached down to grab the small child, and she let out a loud scream.
The scream was enough to cause the group to shrink back and cover their ears, but only for a moment. The girl didn’t wait any more time, and spun on her heels, running in a random direction.
She screamed, sobbed, begged for help.
“Mama!! Mama!!!”
She wailed, her vision becoming blurry. Her legs ached but she didn’t stop running. In the distance, she could see small flames dotting across the horizon. Torches?
With no other choice, she ran towards them.
“Mama! Mama!!”
She screeched, coughing and choking on sand as the flames grew bigger and bigger. Until she could finally see who was holding them.
It was a group of Gerudo guards and her mother, the leader of the town. She looked beyond herself in worry, but she turned around so fast when she heard Riju’s voice, that she almost hit a guard with one of the torches.
“Riju!”
She ran towards her daughter, relieved, but it quickly turned to horror. Riju could see the guards running right behind her, shouting, waving their weapons.
But the child didn’t understand. Why were they telling her to run?
The leader could see what Riju couldn’t. A Yiga bowman, who had just released an arrow, aiming right at her precious daughter.
They weren’t going to make it on time. The arrow wasn’t going to be stopped.
Unless…
Without a second thought, the woman threw herself at her young daughter, grabbing her in her arms and twisting their bodies.
The arrow entered a lung, but not the lung of the target.
The two bodies crashed to the ground as the guards formed a protective circle around them.
Riju was confused. When she looked down at her hands, she noticed red. Paint? Why did her mother have paint? The woman gasped, finding breathing suddenly ten times more difficult. But that didn’t matter. She saved her daughter. She saved Riju.
She cupped the girl’s face in her hands, wiping tears and sand off her skin.
“Riju…”
She croaked.
“My little thunderstorm. I’m…so sorry that I yelled at you. I’m so sorry that we couldn’t find you earlier.”
A tear of her own traced down her cheek as she stared into her daughter’s big eyes.
“I’m so *proud* of you, vehvi. You’re going to be a great leader for our people. I’m…sorry I won’t be there to witness it.”
“Mama?”
“I love you, Riju. And I’m…sorry…”
With a thud, the woman collapsed, still. The guards began shouting in concern, shaking her. One, Buliara, scooped up the shaken Riju in her arms and ran back towards town.
“I’m so sorry Riju. I’m so so sorry.”

Eddie Redmayne Says 'Willkommen' to Broadway in First Production Photos from Cabaret Revival (Exclusive)
'The Good Nurse' actor is starring as the Emcee alongside Gayle Rankin as the musical's leading lady Sally Bowles
By Sabienna Bowman Published on April 15, 2024 02:30PM EDT
Eddie Redmayne is ready to put on a show in the first photos from Broadway's Cabaret revival!
In PEOPLE's exclusive first look at the famed John Kander and Fred Ebb musical's return to the Great White Way,The Good Nurse actor, 42, suits up at as Kit Kat Klub's mercurial Emcee. With his jaunty green party hat, oversized brown cravat and black gloves, Redmayne is both intriguing and imposing as the fascinating character.
In another snap of the Emcee in action, Redmayne leaps into the air as several members of the cast dance around him during the show's iconic opening number, "Willkommen."

Additional photos from the show shine the spotlight on House of the Dragon actress Gayle Rankin in the role of the vivacious nightclub singer Sally Bowles. In one compelling photo, she seems poised to take the stage with a microphone in hand as she's surrounded by ensemble members during the song, "Mein Herr."
Another picture finds Rankin in a ruffly white dress while holding a prop cigarette as she performs the song "Don’t Tell Mama."
The Cabaret revival is being directed by Rebecca Frecknall, who helmed the West End version, which also starred Redmayne. Previews began April 1 at the August Wilson Theatre in New York City, with the show set to officially open on April 21.

Cabaret has long been a success both on the stage and screen. Based on John Van Druten’s 1951 play I Am a Camera, which in turn was adapted from the 1939 novel Goodbye to Berlin by Christopher Isherwood, Cabaret first hit Broadway in 1966. It was later turned into the 1972 film of the same name starring Oscar-winner Liza Minnelli.
The musical tells the story of Sally, an ambitious English singer who starts up a relationship with American writer Clifford Bradshaw as he observes the eccentric characters who populate the Kit Kat Klub in Berlin. Set between World War I and World War II, the growing unrest beyond the club's doors is ever-present as the artists within express themselves through song.
It features a score by Kander & Ebb made up of a string of songs that have become musical theatre mainstays, like “Willkommen,” “Don't Tell Mamma,” “Mein Herr,” “Two Ladies,” “Tomorrow Belongs to Me,” “Money,” “Maybe This Time” and, of course, “Cabaret.”
Jennifer Lopez Visits the Kit Kat Club for Broadway Revival of Cabaret (Exclusive)
Redmayne, who also produces the Broadway revival, has long said that Cabaret “properly ignited” his love for theater, while playing the Emcee in a student production of the musical over 25 years ago.
In an October 2023 statement, he shared, "It now feels completely thrilling and a little surreal to be a part of Rebecca's truly unique vision of Masteroff, Kander, and Ebb's brilliance as it arrives on Broadway, where the piece has such a history."
In addition to Redmayne and Rankin, the rest of the principle cast is rounded out by Ato Blankson-Wood (Clifford), Steven Skybell (Herr) and Tony winner Bebe Neuwirth (Fräulein), as well as Natascia Diaz (Fraulein Kost and Fritzie); and Henry Gottfried (Ernst Ludwig).
The cast also includes, Gabi Campo (Frenchie), Ayla Ciccone-Burton (Helga), Colin Cunliffe (Hans), Loren Lester (Herman/Max), David Merino (Lulu), Julian Ramos (Bobby), MiMi Scardulla (Texas), Paige Smallwood as Rosie, and Marty Lauter (Victor) — also known as Marcia Marcia Marcia of RuPaul's Drag Race fame.
Tickets for Cabaret are on sale now.

Day 6 of 365 days of Black History...
Born November 26th 1933 in the village of Ilanga, Spanish Honduras, Dr. Sebi came into this world as Alfredo Bowman. Young Alfredo did not attend formal school; he was raised and educated by his cherished grandmother, Mama Hay, who influenced his understanding of nature that helped develop a great man and world renowned herbalist. "Mama Hay is the pillar of my foundation," Dr. Sebi said. "She is the very pillar in which all of the things that I have done lays."
Dr. Sebi’s fascination with the natural world around him sparked a lifelong interest in the healing properties of plants. As a young man with asthma, diabetes, impotence and obesity, Dr. Sebi was drawn to natural healing methods, especially after discovering firsthand the limitations of Western medicine in treating chronic disease.
Dr. Sebi was one of the original naturalists to put the health of the black community first. Our founder (may he rest in power) was a trailblazer for the alkaline diet, and promoted the use of natural herbs as medicinal supplements at a time long before the multi-billion dollar wellness industry came into existence. We remain dedicated to his vision and committed to his mission of providing natural plant-based approaches for health management and sickness prevention. #BlackHistoryMonth

🌤️ Share your favorite piece of dialogue from your WIP.
Ooh this is tough because a) I am notoriously bad at ranking things and thus almost never have a definitive “favorite” and b) I can’t use this excerpt again since I just answered an ask with it XD All my other favorite bits of upcoming dialogue for heavy heart are at least somewhat spoilery. So, I’ll take this opportunity to plug my other wip, catching bullets. Because of its structure as a series of vignettes, it’s very dialogue-light, and the dialogue is often the last thing I end up writing, so there’s not much to be found yet in the draft for the final chapter. This is a dialogue exchange from what I’ve posted so far that I’m really happy with:
Raylan wants to go. To leave Harlan and its teeth and its stubborn survival behind him. He wants to run and keep running, just to prove to himself that the world isn’t flat, doesn’t drop off sharp at the edge of Harlan County, with every soul who ever tried to flee lying dead at the bottom.
Boyd doesn’t.
They argue about it in the bedroom of the cabin, Shelby on the other side of a closed door.
“You know why I can’t,” says Boyd. “I got my daddy, and Bowman.”
“They think we’re dead, Boyd!” Raylan shouts. His throat aches like he’s been shouting for hours, the weight of tears pressing heavy at the back of it, like a boot on his neck. It hurts him, to think of his mama and Helen at his funeral, praying over an empty box—or pretending to pray, on Aunt Helen’s part, because Raylan thinks she’s too angry at God to ask Him any favors.
He doesn’t care if Arlo thinks he’s dead. If Raylan’s daddy thinks he’s dead, he won’t think to come looking.
Raylan’s words are like physical things scattered on the floor between them, falling the way his tears won’t. We’re dead, dead, dead.
Boyd looks at him sideways. “But we ain’t.”
Only, Raylan’s not so sure.
He lays his hands on Boyd’s shoulders and looks him in the eye.
“This is the only chance we’re ever gonna get.”
Boyd looks back. His eyes are close together and set deep, brown and green mottled together like camouflage, and dark under the shadow of his brow. Sometimes Raylan looks into them, and he can’t see anything at all.
Raylan shakes him. “God, why won’t you just leave?”
Boyd shakes his head like an aftershock, traveling up from Raylan’s hands. “Harlan saved us, Raylan.”
Raylan laughs, loud and sharp. “Harlan killed us.” He takes a deep breath, and in it he can almost taste the salty sea air of his dreams. “There’s other places. I’ve seen ‘em in my dreams. I know that you have, too.”
“Where it feels like you’re there,” Boyd says quietly. Raylan nods, and Boyd does too, like they’re two sides of a mirror. Raylan’s not quite sure who’s the reflection. Not until Boyd smiles, white and cracked down the middle like fractured glass. “They make me homesick.”
(Ask Game here)
#ask game#justie2justie communication#gaylanrivens#catching bullets#my fic#justified#raylan/boyd#writing#sorry i couldn’t deliver on the heavy heart front hopefully this meaty excerpt makes up for it <3#i think i really captured the essence of their divide on this particular issue the way i wanted to#long post

BEING DRUNK WOULD NOT HELP UNDERSTAND THAT ANY BETTER.
Nor does knowing Machine Man was involved. Clint's had faced Nyx the Greek Goddess, and than joined up with the Avengers for a whole world ending event again, and the Carnage symbiote, and yet he still felt like he was out of the loop. Which was the case, he had been and coming back to a Fisk ran city. Machine Man being involved did not help the ai rights thing. Actually he could understand the rights thing, but it sounded like it was a whole ai war situation. TOO MANY DAMN WARS.
Yeah, he was definitely finding himself out of touch, a split duality between wanting to further detach himself and find his way back with everything, with everyone. Clint had ended up on one end of that, further pushing himself from everyone else, spinning out of control, but continuing to do this hero thing solo. He didn't know anything else; Captain America never handed him a manual that said once you do the superheroics once you were in it for life.
Too bad for Clint, his foot was already in the grave of never having a life outside of the extremes, outside of being THE BOWMAN. So being detached, feeling this far out from who he once was and his connection to the superhero community as a whole? All Clint's got is the gallows humor to cope with a lot of revelations coming as he starts with rebuilding himself, and that started with recovery and addressing his alcoholism.
BREAKFAST WAS NICE. That's an addition to tipping the scale towards it being an okay day, he had to started to look at days and judging them by imagining a literal scale the kind with two sides. It was a balancing act, a lot of good things and silver linings tipped it over to a good day and the reverse could be true. There could be neutral days, but thinking of things as a scale led to the thought that no day was permanent good or bad or neutral; it was all about what was adding up. THIS WAS A WEIGHT TO THE GOOD.
❝ Your eggs were like the goldilocks without the just right part. Both overcooked like mama bear and undercooked like papa bear. ❞ HE STILL DOESN'T GET HOW HAPPENS. Yet than he remembers that Tony made grill cheese sandwiches by microwaving them. So suddenly that thought made things make sense.
GOD DAMN IT CLINT. He'll take that as a massive compliment, biting into his own breakfast with a smirk. Yeah, he knew he was good. How do you think his marriage with Bobbi worked out? The woman could only boil water in a lab, someone had to be the one to cook for date nights. ❝ It's the milk with the egg and perfectly cooked bacon. ❞ He thinks he's gotten his omelet recipe down is what he was saying.
Okay, I'm gonna say this in a completely no pressure way. FUCK, TOO LATE FOR THAT. Clint braces himself for Tony is about to say, trying not to feel the pressure that statement immediately triggers. THIS COULD BE BAD.
So I've cleared my schedule. THAT'S TOO MUCH. It's putting into perspective that this was something important and major, which it was and proving the point that IT WAS. Asking for help had been tough, rehab had been tough, and now he's trying to figure out where he molds into life again; how to be sober and how to find himself, like himself again. Having help that he asked for, having this matter to him and matter to his friend, that Tony saw this as a priority.
❝ You didn't have to do that. ❞ He honestly won't mind when Brandy is here, watching a baby would be something to distract and do; a reason to really control himself and do better. A motivator to stick with what he's started.
Put me where you want me to be and I'll be there. SHIT. HE'S GOTTA DO SOMETHING. Clint already feels indebted. It's a feeling he's always struggled with, felt like he owned his life and lot things to Captain America, to Steve Rogers. He wouldn't have been the man he once liked without him. He wants to be that guy again.
❝ Uh, yeah; you can, I don't know. Be in your lab or something? I'll try to start calling about... setting myself up some appointments. ❞ Doctor about the cast and looking for a therapist, he's not doing it daily or even weekly; maybe therapy every two weeks just to help himself stay on track with this. ❝ I don't know, you can treat me just like a roommate or like how we were when we'd live together like the avengers and west coast too. ❞
He actually hadn't thought about how this would work, but he did want someone in close proximity when he had those really bad days since the important thing that his therapist Lynette at rehab had drilled in his head, that this was a not a linear path; it was not a straight path, there would be really bad days and good days, and sometimes the good would last long and sometimes the bad could drag on for days. It all came down to work, making it work and taking it by the day like a balancing scale. Don't let the bad outweigh everything. Or the potential for bad.
Tony lets the joke slide, neither laughing or admonishing him for it. He got gallows humor and it was Clint's neck in the gallows. If he can't joke about being drunk, who could? "Well let me tell you, I don't think it'll help. Just know that Machine Man was involved and that might explain it for you."
He enjoys helping Clint make breakfast. He knows he's not helping cook exactly, but it's still nice to be doing it together. Its a level of domesticity that Tony has been craving for a long time. He wants this in his life. He's always wanted this. It was something he'd only ever really had with Jarvis around and on the West Coast team and he missed it.
They take a seat with the omelets and fresh cups of coffee and Tony grabs his fork. "For you maybe," he said as he cuts some of the eggs with the edge of his fork. "Do you forget the eggs I cooked. You wouldn't even eat half of them because you were worried about getting salmonella."
He takes a bite and smiles. It's kind of unfair that Clint can just cook something so simple and it come out so delicious. "God damn it, Clint," he says and shakes his head. "It's an omelet! You have no right to make it so good."
He takes another bite and sits back in the chair looking at Clint. "Okay, I'm just gonna say this in a completely no pressure way. So I'm here because you don't want to be alone. So I've cleared my schedule. I'm here for you. Brandy might be here, I'm emailing back and forth with the Caps, but she's not going to be here today. If you need space or just to do your own thing without me breathing down your neck, that's fine, I'll go down to the lab and get some work done. If you want to sit around watching movies together, that's cool too. I'm not gonna bug you about what you need to be doing. Think of me as your puppet. Put me where you want me to be and I'll be there."

Maligayang Pask-OH SHIP! Mixtape 2, Listening Guide 2
Section 15: Happy Golden Days of Yore
The Mexican barrio morphs into a rural, snowy English town in the early 18th century. The Gesualdo Six’s Guy James, Joseph Wicks, Josh Cooter, Michael Craddock, Samuel Mitchell, and Owain Park stand outside a church, singing Michael Praetorius’s “Es ist ein Ros’ entsprungen.” The listener stops by the pub, and Heather Dale serenades one with “This Endris Night.” Sara Stowe stops by to serve the listener a cup of “The Gloucestershire Wassail.”
Refreshed, the listener enters the said church, in which one finds peasant clothing-clad James Bowman and Michael Chance pray Francois Couperin’s setting of the Magnificat. Dame Emma Kirkby appears also in peasant clothing, her singing the final movement of Alessandro Scarlatti’s Non so qual più m'ingombra – “Nacque, col Gran Messia” – with the London Baroque under Charles Medlam.
Section 16: Nochebuena Spread
Festive scents inundate a dining room as Sophie Retaux’s charming organ transcription of the Dance of the Mirlitons from The Nutcracker wafts.
Collin Paul welcomes the listener in the kitchen, declaring that “It’s a Marshmallow World.” Jody Dee and the Starliters cook up a storm with “The Peppermint Twist.” Lesley Gore helps one whip up Christmas “Sunshine, Lollipops, and Rainbows.” The listener helps Chance mix mulled wine, brew the nonalcoholic hot cocoa, and heat up toddies as he sings Purcell’s “If Music Be the Food of Love.”
All the dancing and cooking makes the listener hungry, and the cast of Promises, Promises help one set the tables to ensure that everyone has a “Turkey Lurkey Time.” The guests are in fact the King’s Singers, who join you in a “Banquet Fugue.” One of the Kidsongs Kids tells the listener at the jovial table, “All I Want for Christmas Is My Two Front Teeth.”
Section 17: The 1740s Menorah Lighting Hour
The listener once again heads to the 18th century, this time in a Jewish neighborhood. Matthias Maute’s Ensemble Caprice’s “Fa Nye Mama” fill the air, and so do the scent of laktes frying in oil.
As Sydney Fixman lights the candle on a silver menorah, the Pro Cantione Antiqua sing Salamone Rossi’s Elohim Hashivenu. The Maulbronn Chamber Choir, accompanied by Musica Florita and conducted by Jurgen Budday, sing “See the Conquering Hero Comes” from Handel’s seasonal oratorio, Judas Maccabaeus. Il Gardellino – under Marcel Ponseele – signifies another Hanukkah night illuminated with the 3rd movement of Alessandro Marcello’s Oboe Concerto in D minor, S D935.
Ensemble Il Continuo lends a festive air with the opening chorus of Benedetto Marcello’s I cieli immensi narrano, S.618. Helmut Lotti leads everyone in a rousing hora to his cover of “Shalom Alechem.”
Section 18: Give Love on Christmas Day
Seasonal romance intertwines with the festive atmosphere as the segment starts with Jose Mari Chan’s “A Perfect Christmas.” The listener waltzes with a friend (or significant other) as Peabo Bryson and Roberta Flack sing “As Long as There’s Christmas.” The Cambridge Singers and Farnham Youth Choir croon, “I Wish You Christmas.” The Jackson 5, aptly, advises the listener, “Give Love on Christmas Day.”
The Carpenters reminisce about “Those Good Old Dreams” while Susan Ashton and Collin Raye share “The Gift” with each other. Chan tells the listener, “Give Me Your Heart for Christmas.” Sandi Patty and the kids remind one, “The Gift Goes On.” Mariah Carey affirms that the listener’s love is the best gift of all, as evidenced by her greatest seasonal banger, “All I Want for Christmas Is You.” And Barry Manilow says, “I’ve Got My Love to Keep You Warm.”
Best listened with Spotify Premium.

Erik side eyed the interaction between the bowman and twins. He knew that he had just met them today but he couldn't help the tinge of jealousy that ripped through his chest. He did snort a bit when she called him 'Our Erik.'
Vision smiled softly when Wanda took his hand, and his grip tightened when hers did. His thumb rubbed the back of her hand when her eyes watered. "It's a very nice blanket, soft and cozy like a hug."
"Um excuse me, my hair naturally does this," he pointed to his head. "It's why Mama and Papa kept it short." He wrapped his blanket around his shoulders as he sat back looking through the drawings the Barton siblings had sent.
When Nina spoke Lorna looked down, "Hello there," she sank into the couch a bit to get on Nina's level. "Erik seems a bit busy huh? How about we sneak out and get some icecream, or a shower, or both?"
"If you are going to leave my sight you are not leave this house." Erik mutters without taking his eyes off the twins, as though Clint was just going to pick them up and steal them away.
“I don’t like this…” Wanda sighs. She’s sitting next to her brother in the back of the transport vehicle.
“Just because Stark thinks he knows these people…” she trails off. Knowing she doesn’t need to finish her thought.
“Though I suppose we could run…” she fidgets with one of her bracelets.
“What do you think?”

Pietro sat leaned forward with his elbows on his knees. His mind raced only slowing down when Wanda spoke. He glanced back at his sister, "We could run but we have no place to run to." He said with a sad smile.
And it was true, they were orphans from a country that no longer existed. Sakovia had been destroyed by Ultron. He had thought that they had a home with the Avengers yet they had shipped them away as well.
They had told the twins that needed to get a proper education. They said they needed to be with others their age. As far as Pietro was concerned though the Avengers were just like everyone else in their lives. Used them for a purpose and then tossed them out when they no longer needed them.
Sitting up Pietro put an arm around Wanda and pulled her into his side. While he hated that they were being shipped out, he knew this was their only choice right now. "I say we try this place, and if worse comes worse I can find a job easy enough."
