#makeup for me isn't a deal-breaker to supporting radical feminism (bc i know it can take a lot to completely divest from it)

an important element of radical feminism's opposition to makeup is learning to stop treating your body like an object to decorate, and your own existence as something to perform. there's no opposition to makeup in theatrical contexts because they are understood to be performances. but in your everyday life as women you should not be performing.
So genuinely radical feminists, how do we feel about unconventional makeup? I used to do very gaudy white foundation "trad goth" makeup, and I feel like that's fine because it's not trying to appeal to a standard of beauty. But now, I sometimes put some eyeliner under my eye for a different look. Again, not with the intention of increasing beauty. Is it about intention? Share your thoughts!
#not to mention you're still contributing money to a predatory & misogynistic industry#wearing unhealthy chemicals etc (other radfems have gone into this sort of stuff better)#makeup for me isn't a deal-breaker to supporting radical feminism (bc i know it can take a lot to completely divest from it)#but it's important i think that we don't lie to ourselves and try to frame makeup as “feminist” if you do it “feministly”#there's nothing feminist about it
