I started to type this in French four times already ugh. Under a cut because I couldn't explain my existential crisis in a concise manner.

I guess, seeing your fine artwork had me flash back to my youth, thoughts I had long forgotten resurfacing. So I went and re-read and re-watch some stuff and I realized Jolly Jumper is fucking queer coded. Well, I don't know about the newer stuff, but I pulled up the 1984/bédés stuff and yeah.

Like, I've always felt that Lucky Luke had huge bisexual vibes, even if I didn't have the words to explain it. Luke's softness and mannerism is so different from the "american cowboys" I saw in other media. I did some poking around and there's this german artist Ralf König that talks about queerness in relation to Lucky Luke and it was weirdly validating and emotional.

But watching Jolly Jumper as an adult hit very very differently. His humour lands much better now than from what I remember from my childhood (Rantanplan was my fav it was no contest). I hadn't really kept up with this franchise after I 'grew up' out of it sometimes in the early 2000's.

Revisiting, I was floored. What a sassy horse lmao. Also, Joe wants to kiss Luke so badly it hurts.

So my thoughts were: holy shit, I never connected the dots but now it's so obvious. None of that would have happened without this art, so thank you!!!

He has a bit of a sophisticated way of talking so I think he would wear nicer clothes whenever possible. Color scheme red because his saddle cloth is red with black on it, but also a lot of white/ bright grey for is fur.
