Mahiru and Nagito's birthdays are coming up in a couple weeks. Will you do anything fun for that?

OH man well I always do a bday doodle for Makoto and Nagito cuz uh well they do be my two favs when it comes to DR.

Usually I try to get it done pretty in advanced but uuuhhhh I haven't actually started Nagito's bday pic and it's probs gonna be a last minute half assed thing cuz work atm is making things wild lol

In my defense I did spend last month drawing crossover doodles of Ichimatsu and Nagito (which will be posted today actually) that I intended to be a sorta bday pic for the two of them since April is their month (even tho Ichimatsu's bday is actually in May but look April is his month ok number 4 k)

I did stumble upon this comic idea for Nagito I had a few months ago so im probably gonna go with that. Though fair warning it's pretty stupid lol. Though I feel I can get it finished over a busy weekend.

As for Mahiru, admittedly I didn't have any plans for her bday I'm so sorry 😭 But maybe if I have some time this weekend I can squeeze in a quick lil doodle for her too ;w;

An au where Mondo gain a new hobby : photography.

It all started when his friend caught him creepily staring at their hall monitor from afar, Chihiro shit their pants and told him that no, that’s not cool at all, that’s creepy as hell and never do that to him or anyone else ever again. Mondo got defensive and asked what the hell he should be doing to his crush BUT that? Chihiro’s like "Mondo for god’s sake just talk to him and take pictures with him or something! That’ll last way longer right?!"

Mondo took half of their words seriously. Tch, TALK to him? As if Kiyotaka would WANT that. He’d probably bail if not look at him in pure disgust at the sight of the biggest scum on the earth that Mondo is. Nah, he ain’t taking any risks. The last thing he wants was for Kiyotaka to be AFRAID of him and hyper aware to his surroundings. He can’t ogle his cute face when the said man is hiding to where he can’t reach, now can he?

So Mondo settle down with a camera. He wasn’t opposed to the idea of having pictures of Kiyotaka where he can stare anytime he want. Far from that.

At first he borrowed his upperclassman’s camera, what was her name again, Mahiru? Yeah. Like hell he would use his old ass phone that can’t zoom in without making the resolution straight ass. Kiyotaka deserves better than that. And apparently Mahiru is ecstatic to find someone other than her who likes photography, so that’s that. But he was saving some to buy one on his own tho, don’t worry.

And so his obsession continues, Mondo would follow Kiyotaka to where he always sat, scribbling something on his book with a cute serious face. He take pictures of him in different angles, zoom in to his scrunched eyebrows, zoom in to his slightly pouting lips, eye level, side profile— just.. everything you can think of. Oh and he takes a few pics of flowers around just to give Mahiru something new to look at. While the rest.. goes straight to his own collection.

This happens frequently. Somehow he got extreme luck while doing so. Not only Chi won’t look for him when they didn’t have a scheduled meet ups or lunches, but also, Kiyotaka would NEVER notices he was there. Standing ten feet away with a camera right on his face, aiming it elsewhere when Kiyotaka DOES look at him— or at least, his direction. He always gets back to scribble down on his book so it’s impossible to tell.

This continues for a few months, by the time Mondo finally had enough cash to buy his own camera. Which is, conveniently right next to a bookstore where Kiyotaka decides to came out of. While they both barely avoiding a crash, Kiyotaka surprisingly greeted him! And he knew his name!! And even asked him to have a nice chat with him over a cup of coffee!!! Mondo’s positive he was dreaming.

And so they chat. Pretty casual, if you believe it. Mondo got some laughs here and there from his stupid pick up lines. Now that he know Kiyotaka enjoys his presence, he’s getting more assertive. They talked about their hobbies (Mondo learns that Kiyotaka likes to draw. Ooh artistic. He likes it), what they usually do in the weekend, Mondo’s new camera, and lots of other things before Kiyotaka bashfully ask Mondo a favor, he wants Mondo to see his sketchbook and give him an honest opinion about his ‘mediocre’ drawings.

Mondo vigorously accepts (obviously). He reassured Kiyotaka that whatever he drew is breathtaking and amazing. And that’s when Kiyotaka excitedly shoved his sketchbook to Mondo’s direction. Waiting.

Mondo did what Kiyotaka wants him to do. With a giddy feeling, he took the sketchbook, holding it carefully like it’s some hefty prize, and gently flip the page.. after page.. after page.

It seems like Kiyotaka is done with this one. Hundreds of pages, front to back, is filled to the brim with messy pencil sketches. His skills truly ARE breathtaking and amazing, except the fact that..

okay, i did start dr2 last night. i opened at work yesterday so i was too sleepy to get past the prologue, lol. gonna post my initial character impressions here for funsies / to look back on and laugh at when i get further into the game. i don't want to look up the character names in case i find spoilers so i might get some of them wrong. sorry for the lack of cut, i'm on mobile

sonia: good. i like her design/art style and voice acting. i like that she's being played as actively interested in making friends with others even if she's totally disconnected from normal people in contrast to (original) byakuya's active disdain for non-richies

teru: i wanted to like him bc his design is cute and i find most of his characterization interesting, but then he ended up being the pervert character so byeeee

mikan: like her design aside from the hair. kind of neckbeard-baity with the extreme shyness and caretaker angle but i'm hoping she'll develop beyond that

hiyoko?: HATE her design with the big plastic looking pigtails and bright orange kimono. i also don't like l*li bait looking characters as a rule. but i did end up liking himeko, and the traditional dancer concept is really neat. plus the hidden vicious streak could hopefully develop into an interesting character type

ibuki: when i saw pics of her before i thought she looked kind of ott hot topic kid so i wasn't really interested. but i'm a really big fan of the energetic type so her design has grown on me as well.

mahiru?(photog girl): no real opinion yet. she looks the most like a normal student compared to hinata, which is kind of funny, but i have this suspicion that she'll be killed off in either the first or the second trial, and that her photographs will be evidence in trial 1.

kuzuryuu (yes i did look this one up): i thought he was a girl at first bc most of the guys don't have eyelashes, so i was a little disappointed right off the bat. i just played dr1 with mondo as the ultimate gang leader so i'm hoping he'll be able to distinguish himself from that.

owari: basically seems like hina 2.0 as the tanned, medium-length-brown-haired, big-chested athletic girl. but i liked hina so i'm not that bothered yet.

gundham: kind of dig him so far. love that his hardcore persona is directly integrated with his love for animals; it feels less cliche than "tough guy secretly likes animals and gets soft and mushy around them as a comedy trope". bored by his design tho, it doesn't really grab me

soda: love the eyeburner palette. haven't interacted much yet but so far he seems cool.

peko: LOVE her. love her design, love her voice acting, love the refined swordswoman concept. 10/10

chiaki: also a big fan. hopefully she won't be total dudebro gamer waifu fuel but i'm biased after seeing her group scenes with some of the drv3 girls in the drv3 post-game training mode.

nekomaru: totally boring design unfortunately, but i like his enthusiasm and that he's a team manager in contrast to some of our previous big muscle boys.

"byakuya": i've gathered that he is not the real byakuya from some of the material in drv3. i think that's a potentially interesting angle, but since i already know he's fake i'm not as interested. but who knows, i knew about genocide jack's identity going into 1 and there were still some cool things in that storyline

hinata: i like his instant suspicion and unwillingness to chill out, but other than that he feels very makoto 2.0 as well. especially his design, come on.

komaeda: the controversial figure. i had absolutely no idea what to expect - my impression of him is gleaned from the homophobic sunday meme, despairkomaeda, and those character slideshows from 2012-13. but as it turns out, he seems like a pretty nice dude so far! i'm guessing he's got some deep-seated trauma based on how popular he was as a kintype when the game came out. i actually don't think he's gonna be the secret bad guy or even just secretly villainous, his sincere fan content isn't like ouma's.

so far i'd say my favorites are peko, ibuki, owari, chiaki, komaeda, and sonia.
