Hi! This is the first time I've ever sent you a prompt off anon, but here goes. I loved your fic about Jace & Alec, "You are hurt" set after the 3x18 breakup. I was wondering if you could write something similar to that, just not set after that breakup. Maybe Alec is training too hard and Jace catches him? I'm just in the mood for your parabatai feels. Whatever's upsetting Alec is up to you. I really love your writing! 💙 If you choose to accept my prompt, there's absolutely no rush to do it :)
Em!!💙 Thank you for the prompt and kind words!! I hope you like this!
(Surprisingly Good) Brotherly Advice
AO3
Jace has felt the general unease underneath his skin for the better part of the day. He knew it was coming from Alec but it didn’t feel urgent enough to find the other man and make him talk. When the night falls and it’s way past the time Alec usually goes back home and Alec has still not calmed down, he starts to really worry. When he starts to feel the ache in his hands he knows he can no longer ignore it.
He needs to find Alec and he can already guess where he’ll find his parabatai.
Usually,  Jace loves nothing more than being right. It’s different now, however, when he turns the corner to the training room and finds Alec there alone, throwing punches at a punching bag. He doesn’t need to see Alec’s hands to know that he hasn’t wrapped them, the pain in Jace’s own strong enough that it must be close to unbearable for Alec.
But Alec keeps hitting the bag like his life depends on it.
“That’s really not good for you,” Jace says as he walks into the room. Alec doesn’t turn to look at him, doesn’t even stop what he’s doing. He’s out of breath as he answers.
“Go away, Jace.”
“You and I both know I’m not going to do that,” Jace replies, and he ignores the wave of irritation that comes through their bond. He can’t let his brother keep hurting himself.
Jace rests a hand on Alec’s shoulder and Alec turns around swiftly, his chest heaving as he glares down at Jace.
“Go. Away,” Alec says again, and his words come out half as a growl. Jace doesn’t bat an eyelid. He knows that Alec is not really angry at him.
“Either you go home to Magnus or we spar,” Jace says, giving Alec an option. He understands that Magnus is the person Alec feels the most comfortable talking to, and Jace accepts that. But there must also be a reason Alec hasn’t already done that.
His guess is right when Alec pushes him back and walks to where the wooden staffs are kept.
“Alright,” Jace says and catches the staff Alec throws at him.
They fall into a familiar rhythm, the only noises in the room coming from their staffs coming to contact or the grunts and groans that leave their lips. Alec is putting a lot of energy into his hits but it’s clear that his mind is not completely in the fight.
“Are you going to tell me what’s going on?” Jace asks after a while.
“No,” Alec replies through gritted teeth.
“So you are just going to keep sulking?” Jace asks, blocking a particularly nasty hit from Alec.
“I’m not sulking,” Alec denies.
“You aren’t fooling anyone, Alec,” Jace calls his weak bluff. “Least of all me, or Magnus. He’s going to notice the second you go home.”
“Shut up,” Alec says again, moving forward and forcing Jace to move back.
“I assume that’s the reason you haven’t gone home yet,” Jace continues as if Alec never said a thing.
Alec’s next hit has so much force behind it that his staff breaks as it makes contact with Jace’s.
It’s like something in Alec snaps too, because his tone doesn’t have any of the anger it previously had when he talks next.
“I can’t tell him,” he says. He turns and walks away to place the broken staff next to the wall.
“What do you mean?” Jace asks. His tone is calmer too, now that he’s got Alec to open up. He goes to put his own staff away and sits next to Alec on a bench in the training room.
Alec is leaning his elbows to his knees and his head is hanging low in defeat, his bruised hands clasped behind his head in a way that looks uncomfortable. He speaks so quietly Jace almost misses his words.
“They have offered me a position in Alicante.”
“Alec that’s great! What kind of position?” Jace asks as he hits Alec’s shoulder. As long as Jace has known his brother, Alec has been aiming towards a high-ranking position. It’s what he has been training for his whole life.
But as Jace hears the answer, whispered towards Alec’s shoes with a tone that’s defeated rather than joyous, he wonders what has changed.
“They want me to be the new Inquisitor.”
“You don’t want that?” Jace questions, his tone confused. He truly can’t imagine anyone better than Alec for the position.
“Of course I want it,” Alec says. He lifts his head so he’s finally looking at Jace again. “I want it more than almost anything in the world. That position would help me unite the Shadow World. It’s something I haven’t even dared to dream about. I never thought they would want me there.”(surprisingly Good) Brt
“What is stopping you?” Jace asks, still not seeing a problem.
“I won’t leave Magnus,” Alec says. His tone is certain, leaving no room for argument. “I can’t go home, because Magnus will notice that something is going on, and I’m going to tell him, and he’s going to feel bad. We’ve already been through this once, and he knows I won’t leave him. But he also knows what the position would mean to me and he’s going to feel responsible for me not being able to accept it.”
“Oh,” Jace answers eloquently, because what is he supposed to say to that. He hadn’t considered that Downworlders can’t live in Alicante and it probably wouldn’t be practical for Alec to portal there every day, even if he has a warlock husband who wouldn’t mind taking care of his transport to work and back home.
“Yeah,” Alec says. “I know I need to tell him but-”
Alec’s words fade to silence, showing how lost he feels with the situation. Jace knows that if it came to that and Alec had to choose, he would never regret picking Magnus. But he would be sad to pass the opportunity to work as the inquisitor and have better means to accomplish change.
Suddenly something comes to Jace’s mind.
“Why do they want you?”
“Huh?” Alec asks, looking back at Jace.
“Why do they want you to be the next Inquisitor?” Jace asks.
“They want a better relationship with the Downworld,” Alec explains. “They’ve seen the results we have accomplished here in New York, and believe that having me as the Inquisitor would help build some trust.
“They know you are together with Magnus,” Jace says.
“Yeah,” Alec says, a small smile on his lips. “If my first wedding wasn’t enough, they should have gotten the point after the second.”
Jace rolls his eyes.
“You have a point there,” he says. “What I meant is that they know you’re with him, and they must know that you’re not going to leave him for a job. Why would they offer you this job if they weren’t willing to do some kind of a compromise?”
“You think-” Alec starts but Jace cuts him off.
“He’s the warlock who saved Alicante,” Jace says. “They owe him. They need to let him move there with you. You should send them a message first thing tomorrow and demand that you’ll only accept the position if Magnus can move to Alicante with you.”
Suddenly Alec doesn’t look as hopeless anymore.
“I need to talk to Magnus first,” he says, almost to himself. “I need to make sure he would want to come. New York has been his home for a long time, and I don’t know how he would feel about living among Shadowhunters. Of course everything would be just a portal away and…”
“Yeah,” Jace says, smiling as he feels some of the weight lift from Alec’s shoulders. “Yeah, you do that.”
“Thank you, Jace,” Alec says sincerely. It feels so good to see him smile again.
“Always,” Jace says with a nod and he watches as Alec goes to leave the training room.
“Oh,” he says. He walks to where Alec had stopped and turned to look at him again. Jace takes a stele out of his pocket and lifts the hem of Alec's shirt enough to run the stele over the iratze just above his parabatai rune. Jace drops the shirt and watches as Alec flexes his healed fingers.
"Thanks," Alec says quietly, keeping his eyes on his hand rather than looking Jace in the eyes. Jace knows it's a difficult topic and he thinks they've done enough talking for today, so with his hands finally healed Jace feels okay with letting him go.
"Go home," Jace says, a smile on his face as he gently pushes Alec's shoulder. "Your husband is waiting."
"Goodnight Jace," Alec says as he turns to leave for a second time.
This time Jace lets him go.
Wired from their sparring, it takes a moment before Jace feels calm enough to go to bed. He goes to his room and showers before getting comfortable with a book. Before he falls asleep he focuses on his parabatai rune, and he knows he can rest easy when the last bits of anxiety have left his parabatai and all he can sense is happiness and relief.

U: I'm feeling Maiaphael feelings- ME: pERFECT! EXCELLENT, gosh I've wanted to ask ahshdgd what would you think their first gift to each other would be like? Would it be something personal to each other or gifts they actually go and buy?
aaaah that's an interesting and also kinda hard question because i think theyve given each other a lot of small gifts (kinda omamiri style) even before they started dating? and sometimes without even thinking about it? like i think their relationship progressed so naturally it's hard to find a "first" everything. it's all in the little details u know
obviously theres always cooking, which yes is a gift shut up. but for like material (?) gifts, whether they are made by them or bought, they are always very thoughtful and special. here are some of my faves:
plants. not flowers, actual plants. herbs, spices, sometimes something just decorative, sometimes even small trees with fruits like.... okay just found out this is called brazilian berry so I'm guessing it only exists in Brazil but fuck it brazilian berry, pequi fruit, maybe orange or lemon trees? idk man the point is, PLANTS. this is something i can see the both of them giving the other. Maia knows that Raphael loves nature and that he's trying to make the dumort a more comfy, nice place for vampires, so she gives him pretty, good smelling, and useful plants. Raphael in turn gives her a lot of herbs to grow for herself and Taki's, and soon enough he's taking care of their little vegetable garden. but also succulents and such for her apartment, so it feels more like home and doesnt give her a lot of work and it reminds them of each other and aaaaaaaaa
Maia definitely gets Raphael a weighted blanket because she knows about his hyposensitivity issues and also cold issues lmao so when no one is there to cuddle with him he has it. he needs it less and less as time goes by because between his partners, found family, and the clan, he has plenty of people to cuddle with and generally get the touch he craves (it's what he DESERVES) but it's still nice, especially to sleep, and also nothing can stop him from cuddling AND using the blanket because a bitch hates the cold
on that same note, vests and other stuff he can wear when he needs. she always looks for the ones with the textures he likes the most, as well as makes sure theyre warm and weighted. it makes him tear up a little. just a little
he commissions Magnus to create something she can use to summon her own clothes in the event that she transforms without any - maybe a necklace? and it keeps her from 1- destroying her own clothes, and 2- having to walk around naked or stay in wolf form for long than she'd like/is safe. she's very grateful
books!!! Raphael loves getting her books in whatever she's interested in, which is a lot of stuff because Maia is naturally curious and loves to learn. he always has a book for her, be it sci fi or a marine biology textbook, and she always devours them and loves them. he later takes great joy on hearing her ramble on her opinions about the book, as does Simon. the three of them often trade books of all kinds (the marine biology ones are Hers, though)
on that topic, he helps her a lot with college, and like, college books are expensive in the US and stuff, and you can bet your ass he's gonna help her get what she needs without having to struggle. tbh i love the idea of them starting like, a supporting network for college downworlders? crowdfunding and raising money for supplies and such. aaaaaaaaaaaa. but anyway he helps her with that, even if it means getting the clan to sell cookies (they all love her, so they agree. the pack joins in, too)
hmm... i Just.... Food..... *bonks own head*
not a material gift per se but maia asks izzy and simon to teach her spanish :) and she kinda surprises Raphael one day kissing his hand and going "te quiero, cariĂąo" and he completely Melts and they can have some short conversations in spanish and he can whisper/mumble in spanish to her and it feels so, so nice and comforting to speak the language of his heart to the people he loves
small necklaces and bracelets and stuff that raphael gets maia because theyre "beautiful, like her"? (shut up you know he absolutely is that bitch) and they always look perfect on her and match some of the clothes she her and she smiles at him (bright as jewelry) and kisses his forehead and thanks him for being so attentive
okay i know this technically counts as food but listen to me okay dont leave. you know how there are valentine's chocolates and such? so Raphael always gives her sweets, since she can't have chocolate and she misses it, and they're always intricate and delicate and good and she loves them a lot. sometimes he cooks and sometimes he buys them, but they're always good, and thoughtful
he's just so attuned to her tastes okay like he pays so much attention he sometimes notices patterns even she doesn't
and she in turn always gives him thoughtful gifts according to his needs and interests
they're the sweetest and i love them

Silence Is Deadly - Chapter Five
I finished chapter five. I am still in the process of uploading these chapters to Ao3 and it will take a while. But I'll still post on here; it just might look different because I'm formatting most of it for Ao3.
I also apologize for the ending of this chapter in advance.
All characters belong to Cassandra Clare.
Only ten minutes after Magnus called him, Ragnor showed up at his apartment, with Chairman Meow clinging to his face.
Magnus, being the idiot he was, decided to call Ragnor up. For a few reasons, but mainly because Magnus wanted his cat. Chairman Meow had been in the care of his friend until Magnus was emotionally ready to take care of a cat.
"Your cat wants to claw my eyes out," Ragnor said. Magnus smirked.
"That means he hates your guts," he replied. Tessa put her head in her hands and started to die inside.
Magnus got up and grabbed the Chairman off of Ragnor. The cat relaxed into his arms, but gave a little side-eye to Ragnor and hissed at him.
"What did you feed him?" He asked.
"What did you feed him?" Magnus shot back. "No, wait, you didn't. That's why he wants to eat your eyes. Tess, are you doing okay over there?"
Tessa appeared to have given up on life for a few minutes.
"Magnus what did you do during the week you were drunk on heartbreak?"
"I was actually drunk for most of this, and I signed up to help Malcolm Fade with something."
Ragnor's eyes widened. "Does that mean Necromancy?"
"Of course not. I'll just break Alec out of the Silent City. It's not that hard."
There was a loud sigh from Tessa. Ragnor sighed too.
"Magnus, you need to sit down and explain what you want to do."
"Fine." Magnus sat down at the table and tried not to grab a bottle of tequila sitting next to him. He probably should stay dry for a while. Especially for this.
"How did you contact Malcom Fade?"
"I ran into Hypatia at a club," Magnus said, and Ragnor sat down next to him. "She told me about what Malcom was doing. Helping heartbroken warlocks who were in love with Shadowhunters. And he was just across the street."
"So you helped him?" He asked.
"I went to his office and signed a contract. In blood. Don't ask."
Ragnor winced. "Are you seriously going to do this?"
"What do you think?" Magnus asked angrily. "Yes. It's the only way to get Alec back."
"I'm leaving," Tessa said, getting up and heading for the door. "You two argue all you want. I'll hang out at a restaurant for a while and come back when you're done."
She walked out the door, slamming it behind her. Ragnor leaned forward and glared at Magnus.
"You can't do this," he said. "It's illegal, for one, and dangerous. Do you want to get arrested by the Clave and end up in the Silent City as a prisoner?"
Magnus took a deep breath. "It's Alexander. I'm not leaving him behind. He doesn't want to be a Silent Brother. He's in pain. I have to save him."
"I told you it's a bad idea. Magnus I can't let you do this."
"It's Alec," Magnus reminded him. "And I love him. And you don't know what it's like because you've never loved anyone like I love him!"
Ragnor snorted. He sounded a lot like a pig.
"But I care for you. I love you."
"Great time to come out to me, Ragnor," Magnus exclaimed sarcastically. He got up, walking towards his cat. "I have a boyfriend."
"But I told you, I care for you, and I don't want you to do something you'll regret." Ragnor got up and started walking after him.
"I can't regret this because Alec is the One. He means so much to me. You don't understand because you don't love people like I do. And I don't want to give up on him."
"That's what you always say."
Magnus turned so he was facing Ragnor.
"So do you. With everyone I've loved and lost-you never really try to comfort me. Not even after my first lover died in my arms. You just go on with your own life and pretend my pain is none of your business."
Ragnor grabbed his shoulders.
"You can't do this," Ragnor said. "Forget my reasons, it's too risky. So shut your mouth and forget your idea. Forget that boy. Because all he'll give you is pain."
Magnus shoved Ragnor away from him.
"No," Magnus said. "Now get out of my apartment." He turned around, not able to bear looking Ragnor in the eyes. "Just go."
"Fine," Ragnor muttered under his breath. "Stay in your misery, Magnus Bane. And if you regret what you do, don't come crying to me."
The day after his fight with Ragnor, Magnus showed up at Malcolm's office, early and eager.
Magnus was done caring about what anyone else thought of him. And at this point, he'd be willing to do anything to get Alec back. No matter how illegal or deadly.
The moment Malcom laid his eyes on Magnus, he sighed.
"You're a bit early," he pointed out.
"Does it matter?" Magnus asked.
"Not necessarily," Malcom replied.
"Then I'm going to help you."
"I don't need help. At least, now. Unless you can convince a Prince of Hell to give some of his power to me."
Magnus raised an eyebrow. "A Prince of Hell? Are you messing with me?"
"No, I actually summoned a Prince of Hell. He's one the most powerful, general of Hell's army."
It's not him, Magnus thought. It's Azazel, not my father. Besides, what would Asmodeus have to give to help us?
"I'm the son of another Prince of Hell, I can certainly convince this one to help us," Magnus said. "Where is he?"
Malcom sighed again, and led Magnus to another room. Opening the door, Magnus saw a man-a demon-standing in the middle of the room, in a pentagram. He was looking down at the floor so Magnus couldn't see his face.
"Okay, do you want to do this the easy way or the hard way?" Magnus asked, summoning a bit of blue fire in one hand.
The demon looked up. Magnus found himself looking into cat eyes like his.
"Hello, son," Asmodeus said, and grinned.

anything else about maspar cuz i've really missed them??
Tumblr media
friend,  i could rant about maspar forever.  have this little  GROSSLY  CUTE moment between them,  in their hot tub last week.    ( under a readmore cause it’s kinda long. )
caspar: he grins into the kiss, then follows him into the tub. he settles in then reaches to pull magnus into his lap, sort of, considering he was partially floating. he kisses along the nape of his neck. " i love you. " he hums.
magnus: he got onto his lap as best as he could, arms wrapping around his husband's neck, smiling happily as he practically purred at the kisses placed along his skin. " mmm. i love you too. "
caspar: he drags his tongue up his neck then pulls away and looks at him. his eyes veil over his husband's face, taking in his features. " when did you start wearing make up? " he asks as one hand lifts and sweeps along his cheek in attempt to wash away the faist blush. but waterproof, of course and nothing really happens. he swears, magnus wore makeup only he could remove.
magnus: magnus laughed a bit, shaking his head. " you hate when i wear makeup around the house, don't you? just feels natural for me to put it on, " he said, smirking when he knew his makeup didn't even wash away. magnus might have some say in when his makeup came off. leaning in, he lazily nipped at his husband's lips.
caspar: " i----  don't hate it. " he says, thought his voice seems a little too high to be entirely convincing. " i don't hate it, it makes you happy. i just... like it better when you're not wearing it. " he says with pursed lips. he hums and kisses his lips more. " you didn't answer me though. "
magnus: a soft smile as he pulled back, he tilted his head to the side. " i put it on in my office, just wanted to have it on. it's still a habit sometimes, sometimes, but i know you like how i look more without it, " so not being upset at all nor caring that cas ever saw him without makeup, a flick of his wrist and a washcloth appeared that he held out to his husband. " wipe it off? "
caspar: he tilts his head, eyes still scrolling over his husband's face curiously at all the artificial colours that glistened on his skin and lashes. he looks at the wash cloth. "... that will actually get it off? cause i tried that when you put it on me and it didn't do anything. " he takes the cloth from magnus anyway. " or does this have some like.. special soap? "
magnus: he laughed a bit, nodding. " it has makeup remover on it. soap and water don't usually work, " he said honestly, fingers lazily roaming along his husband's chest, over the tattoo.
caspar: he smiles softly and starts to gently wipe the cloth over his face, watching colours transfer from his skin to the cloth. " and i didn't mean like, today, when i asked when you started wearing it. " he tells him. " i meant like, in general. close your eyes. " his last words are whispered.
magnus: he slowly slipped his eyes shut and hummed quietly. " mmm. well, a couple hundred years ago make up wasn't exactly easy to come by, but i don't know, i still liked it. liked how it felt on my skin, how it made me feel and in a way at first i used it as kind of a mask, if that makes sense. then it just became a part of me. bu i would say about 1820s is when i really started to use it the most. "
caspar: he's gentle as he drags the cloth over his eyes to wipe away the black lines and glitter, not to hurt him but also to take the moment slow. he's learning to do that more, and he's liking it.  " well you don't need a mask with me. " he pokes the tip of his nose with the cloth. " but i get it if you wear it in the house anyway. "
magnus: " i try not to wear it around the house, " he said softly, heart oddly warming at his husband removing his make up, as if he was revealing himself to him even though cas had seen him plenty of times without it. this just felt different, made him feel even more contacted to his husband. " i like not wearing it around you. "
caspar: his smile grows at him and he washes over his other cheek, nearly finishing. once he's through, he tosses the cloth onto the chair where their pile of clothes was and looks back at magnus. " you're so beautiful. " his thumb brushes over his cheek this time, but over his skin and not the blush.
magnus: he leaned into his touch, eyes opening to look at his husband, loving the soft brown of his eyes and his heart swelled at the way cas looked at him. before they got together, before they got married magnus didn't like looking at himself without makeup, feeling naked and vulnerable without it, but now with cas, it didn't bother him so much. especially when they were alone. " i love you so much. "
caspar: " do you believe me, when i say that to you? " he asks him honestly, though his vocie is still merely a whisper. he knows the insecurities that live inside his husband's mind and beneath his skin and he wishes he could wipe them away with a cloth the way he had his makeup. " that you're beautiful, " he adds.
magnus: there was a moment where he didn't move or even say anything as he thought on the question. finally, he slowly nodded. " most of the time, i do believe you. " but there were still times, though much more rare now, that his insecurities wouldn't let him believe him, but they were growing much more far apart now to where most of the time, he did completely believe it. all because of his husband.
caspar: he had messed up with magnus before, and his gravest mistakes have been when he's hurt him. but those words... knowing that he's instilled some well deserved confidence in the warlock seems to push away all of that, and makes it seem like a memory more distant than it is. he leans in and kisses his lips, a sweet and gentle motion.
magnus: a soft hum, his hand lifted to brush along his cheek down to his jaw and over his neck before hands came to settle on his chest. relishing in the kiss for a moment more, he slowly parted their lips, nudging his nose against his husband's. " i am so lucky i found you, " he whispered.
caspar: he smiles at him, pulling away just enough to look into his dark chocolate coloured eyes, as sweet and indulgent as the real desert. he tilts his head a bit, " can i ask you a question? "
magnus: easily enough, he nodded. " you can always ask me anything, bug. "
caspar: " why did you let me stay? i mean like, on your couch? " he asks curiously, fingers trickling along his upper arms.
magnus: a slow intake of breath, he lifted a hand to card gently through his hair. " even though you got on my nerves back then--- i knew you didn't have anyone. it was kind of obvious and i didn't want you to be alone, honestly. i knew what being alone felt like and i didn't want someone else to know that feeling more than they had to. "
caspar: he tilts his head into the touch and nods once. he leans in to kiss him once again, but something he says sticks in his head for a second longer then the rest and he pulls back. " it was obvious? "
magnus: " --- i know what it looks like to be lonely. i saw it enough in the mirror every day before i met you, " he said quietly.
caspar: his shoulders slouch some, both from the memory that peeks around of the feelings he had before he met magnus --- before he had anyone around, and the idea that magnus had felt it once to. for a long while. he rests his head against his shoulder. " i'm sorry you felt like that for so long. "
magnus: he shook his head, nuzzling against his neck. " hey, it's okay. all of that time alone was worth it because it kept me open to meeting the most amazing, wondering and perfect man i could ever imagine and i got lucky enough to become his husband. forever and always. "
caspar: his arms wrap around his middle and he hugs him closer, as close as they can be and he smiles at him. " forever and always. " he whispers back. " yours, yours, yours. " he leans in to punctuate each repeating word with a gentle peck.
