“I think that's enough,” Zack said, grabbing the box and stuffing the lid back on it. He was taller than Luxiere and could hold it up over her head so she couldn't reach it. And even Luxiere wasn't rude enough to climb on the furniture to be able to reach it.

“Don't worry, Magda, I'll tell you everything later,” Kunsel grinned, and Zack shot him a fake dirty look. He didn't really have that many secrets, and he didn't really care if Kunsel and Luxiere knew about a soccer game that he had cost his team the win on because he was distracted by his angel on the front seat of the bleachers. That wasn't really a big deal anymore, even if he'd been mortified by it at the time.

“Coffee's great,” Zack said, still shielding the box from Luxiere.

“You would think so,” Luxiere grumbled, giving up on the photos.

“You got me, Luxiere. I like coffee. Wow, what a huge surprise.”

“.. I told him about how you were an ace at the game.. That you were unstoppable on the field.. When I wasn’t around…” Aeris pulled out a chair and started looking through more photos. All of this really just made feelings rush up again. All of those moments and memories hit her like a ton of bricks.

“Whenever I was around he was not a great player.. he was an adorable bench warmer though!” She put down the pictures in her hand and pushed them toward Luxiere. Her heart was pounding in her chest. Everything was hot and awful, all the pictures, the saved love notes.

“Maybe.. I should put these back away.. You really don’t want to see any of this right? They’re just a bunch of old photos.” And a reminder that she was left behind. Aeris cleared her throat and stood up, “I’m going to make some coffee- I hope you don’t mind I’m craving a Kona blend. Is that okay with you all?” without waiting for much of an answer, Aeris moved and started rifling through the bags of coffee.

She felt like such a vibe killer.
