i saw this on reddit as a sample of how the mcu landscape has changed when it comes to latino characters and the comments were full of " they're not latino theyre x"
and let me tell you
if you ( or your family) come from latin america you're latino
that's about it.
and as america is a continent with very little genetic diversity (among native population) and most latinos are mixed, so native americans from us/canada are basically family too.
seriously, they have done dna studies and there's a decent amount of overlap.
so a character like maya lopez (echo) can be both Native *and* latina
a character like Namor also counts, because he comes from latin america too! the character is from atlantis in the comics, but they cast a native latino actor and adjusted the story accordingly.
and characters like robbie reyes and yoyo from AOS count too, even if we're unsure of AOS' current standing in MCU canon.
they're still latino heroes we were very happy to see!
America Chavez might come from a different dimension but latam (or some version) still existed! we saw her mums!
in Moon Night, we see marc's mum, who iirc is brazilian, and *all* actors playing him are latino
the only ones we can argue about are aliens (eternals) and robots (WbN)
the point is, it was supposed to be a celebratory thing, not once again arguing over what it means to be latino.
#mcu#lupita's character in bp obv doesnt count since she's from wakanda#the actress is afro latina not the characters#miles morales on the other hand absolutely counts
