I also think that writing your own books / series (or show, etc) can help develop a further awareness that canon validation or consideration is just... not a pre-requisite for any sort of validity in shipping. Like yes, obviously it's nice when Your Ship becomes Canon and it's also nice to know that avenue was at least a thought in the writers' minds because it "can make you feel less 'crazy'" for reading it that way
But like, when you're doing character construction and building your own OC/OC ships... I can't speak for anyone else, but I considered basically every possibility. What if this character was younger/older and therefore an option, what if this meeting point was different, etc? because you're the one deciding those things. You're deciding who's a technical option
Not only are first drafts usually soo far away from what actually gets on page / on screen even sometimes when it comes to shipping, something being considered — or liked — does not warrant the validity people seem to assign to it. I ship 'fanon' ships in my own works, for characters / couples where I can see the potential or even why someone would, but it's not what I want to do and/or I don't think they'd work out. That doesn't mean they were secretly going to be canon or that they should've been; it just means it was an idea, and an idea that — most importantly — was eventually discarded For A Reason!!
Which is also why I find the fanon ships I like the most are ones where I know with absolute, 100% certainty they were never even thought of (for a variety of valid reasons) never mind remotely intentional, and I'm bringing my own reading to the text. Because for something to be discarded and then considered, I'm gonna want to know (and will probably somewhat agree on a certain level) as to why; it's much more interesting and validating to me to go for something I know was never on the table, and therefore never tossed into the trash

Okay so my Huntceda/Luz and Hunter ship is canon compliant. A summary of it is: Hunter and Luz through the canon events developed mutual feelings. Luz still loved Amity ofc, and Hunter knows she's taken + Willow and him having that chemistry made him more uncertain despite the feelings being there. Luz pushes the feelings down because Amity is her first relationship + that bisexual fear of your sexuality not being taken seriously if you're with someone of a different gender. As they grow up, she's very close with hunter, and he is with her. Nobody thinks anything of it because all of the crew are pretty close. But they're both the only odd ones out so far as doing magic. Neither of them can perform magic normally. :readmore:
Amity and Luz have some common interests (the azura books, magic) but they're eachothers first loves. It's all new. We've seen the issues in their relationship throughout most of the last season, and meta-wise Amity became not much beyond supportive gf who blushes. In my huntceda set up Willow and Hunter don't date until like a few months before the finale when we see them together. It lasts about a year before they mutually break up. Luz and Amity's breakup is an attempt at a collected one but it doesn't end up being that. It's the product of a lack of trust, growing apart and Luz developing her relationships outside of Amity. All of them being just as excitable and caring from Luz's end. She also has a tendency not to really confide in Amity which makes her much more frustrated with Luz because she's supposed to be her girlfriend. Luz tends to curl in on herself in times of trouble, or figure it out on her own, but Amity assumes she'll be sought out, so is often unaware of the issues Luz is struggling with. This is where those mutual repressed feelings crop up because Hunter tends to seek out Luz when she's off on her own. And she ends up turning to him for support for those stressors. Amity and Luz both still love Alura, and grudgby. But outside of magic they tend to lack things to discuss or keep conversations going. Which isn't noticeable for a long time since they're both really into the books and analyzing them. Luz also tends to get Jealous of Amity because of how together she often seems, as well as wondering if Amity could do better. (hormones, teenage stuff). Her conflicting feelings, wishing for more support, as well as the slow diverging of their interests (especially with Vee being in the picture as her legit sibling, and likely spending more time in the human realm) I don't see them ending up together forever. Also because this show has a real 'your first love is your real forever one true love' bias and that's...... not realistic. So they have a huge blowup fight that starts as a reasonable, kind of backpedally request for a break, which then escalates on Amity's end, and then on Luz's end in response. Their friends are sure it's just a couples spat and they'll reconcile. They don't. At least not at first. (they eventually become friends again, but it blows up pt. 2 when Luz and Hunter finally address their feelings after about a year and a half.) Willow initially sided with Luz, but when that happens Willow ends up going with Amity/siding with her in the dispute. Gus is confused and acts as a messenger before getting fed up with his friends constantly dragging him into stuff. Willow is really hurt by it, Amity is hurt by it. Both Hunter and Luz feel guilty but also REALLY care about each other and both are so lost on what to do. They initially agree not to officially be anything until they can figure it out. Luz is conflicted on her feelings, Hunter is not. Willow is wonderful and pretty, and badass and cool but just not who he really had those intense feelings for. Luz DEEPLY cares for Amity still, but it's just... not how she used to feel. They became more different than they were similar. And that's normal, but she still struggles a lot with it because they're all meant to be a team. Luz and Hunter ultimately end up coming back together officially but quietly. It takes a while before everyone is talking fully again. It causes a lot of friction before Luz eventually breaks down and it brings everyone streaming in together because of the front she was putting up to try to seem together.

#been thinking about the placement of the showdown between belos and the hexsquad happening in ep 1 instead of anywhere else#mainly for lunter reasons if that is ever not obvious#(aka for a lunter endgame it makes more sense to have the ending of TTT happen in the last episode because Stakes)#(hunter actually dies and flapjack's sacrifice is the conclusion of the evelyn/caleb backstory)#(and it's pretty hard to work hunter or anyone from the hexsquad into the final showdown otherwise)#this is where the show shoots itself in the foot by having luz and hunter's relationship be on like tier C of importance#because it IS emotionally charged to see belos exerting that kind of power into the kid he groomed one last time#it IS emotionally charged to see luz wrestle with her determination to defeat belos and her love for hunter#it IS emotionally charged to know that someone will die here and it may be one of the kids#whereas the battle at the end of WAD is barely a battle and just meant to be the bow on top of luz's development#if luz and hunter's relationship had been more central to the show then hunter facing belos is a given AND a good narrative choice#who else gets to kill belos but the person created in the likeness of the one that made belos reach such lows to begin with?#or at the very least have the other people close to luz have some history with belos or something#eda couldn't care less about belos. same for king. and don't even get me started on amity...............#this is just a hexsquad problem btw like what is willow's bearing in this. the track system works wonders for her#in theory her life with belos as emperor is as good as it will ever be#same thing with gus#it's just hunter! that's the important piece there!#this show is just. broken. it truly refuses to bring up any of the actually interesting characters#sorry this rambling doesn't have a point besides 'toh is dumb sometimes' which is a thing i often say anyways#but man...... besides luz's resolution there's nothing to the ending. nothing.

oh my god you guys. i just realized.
luz switched places with hunter to stop belos (and ofc to make sure hunter wouldn't get hurt)
eda disguised as raine to also stop belos
both hunter and raine are worried for their safety, especially knowing the pain luz and eda might face or have already faced for being in their places
NOT TO MENTION the fact hunter AND raine are possessed by belos... holy shit. holy fucking shit.

Ya know, it really does suck when a fandom ruins a ship for you. Especially when you do genuinely want to like it and might have even shipped it had you consumed the media in an isolated bubble. But when fandom shoots down your views on other ships you have in the same fandom by using the soon-to-be-ruined ship against you (along with fanon you don’t subscribe to)… you end up not wanting to interact with the ship as a result.
It seems silly, but it’s almost amazing how interaction with others can have such an impact on your experience.

What get's me about Luz not telling Amity her secret for months is that Amity definitely knew Luz was hiding something for months. Luz has never been able to get away with lying to Amity. She can tell right away when Luz is being cagey about something that's bothering her. Just because Amity won't push Luz into telling her what's wrong doesn't mean that she doesn't know when Luz is keeping something from her:
So, can you imagine being Amity - you know something is bothering your girlfriend but she won't tell you what it is. You've been living with her for months and have been supporting her attempts to bring you and your friends home. Whenever your girlfriend feels frustrated that ANOTHER experimental doorway went up in flames, you comfort her so that she doesn't spiral into negativity. But she STILL won't tell you what's bothering her - and you can see it taking a toll on her mental health.
But despite your girlfriends insistence on keeping quiet about what's eating away at her, you still love her and want to do something nice for her. So, you and your friends spend a day figuring out that the rebus you found leads to Titan blood. You think to yourself, this is great news! I want to surprise my girlfriend with it! It'll lift her spirits and... maybe then she'll tell me what's bothering her.
So you arrive at the faire, you take a ride in a carriage with your girlfriend and hear a bit of backstory about the man who attempted genocide on your race. when the ride is over and you step out of the carriage - you notice immediately that Hunter and Luz are nowhere to be found. Maybe you even take a mental note that they're the first ones to exit the carriage. But where could they have run off to? and why would they run off so suddenly? Despite those thoughts, you and your friends look around the nearby area for them.
Even though you and your freinds have come up empty handed in your search, that still doesn't damper your excitement. You really want to show Luz what you found, to prove once AGAIN that you're an "Awesome Girlfriend" - and then you realize the rebus is missing.
There's no way you could have lost it - all you've done was take a ride on a carriage, which is still parked right behind you - it could not have gone far. It's not like Luz could have taken it because she didn't know you had it - the only people who knew about it were your friends. And if you did drop it, it would have been found when you or one of your friends were looking for Luz and Hunter.
Maybe you can't help but think to yourself: Did Hunter take it? Why would Hunter take it knowing that I wanted to surprise my girlfriend with it? And why would Luz run off with Hunter only? Why didn't she take you and the rest of your friends?
Later, you find them in the graveyard. You have no idea what happened in between Luz and Hunter running off together up until you find them on the island in the graveyard. From your limited perspective, you're going to assume Hunter and Luz came here together without an issue. You have no idea WHEN Hunter became possessed - you have no idea that Hunter actually ran off on her and by the time Luz found him he was already possessed.
And then Amity's going to find out that Hunter knew Luz's secret way before she did. Hunter isn't just going to tell Amity because he's not as close with her as he is with Willow and Gus. But she's going to find out from Willow or Gus during casual conversation. It's most likely Willow because Willow is the person Amity has gone to for advice on how to deal with Luz's cageyness.
Buuuut yeah, how can Amity not get mad at Luz when she finds out Hunter knew before she did? Not only would she be tired of Luz lying and keeping secrets from her at this point - their actions in Thanks to Them are suspicious as fuck.

Hi I just wanted to share something with u
Tumblr media
Like I Get the catradora 9ne but wtf??? Tell me ur homophobic without telling me ur homophobic
Like it's fine to not like certain ships but bae?? Like some of these characters don't even have good chemistry and I'm sure No one is attacking u for not liking these ships.
But whining about this???? 5his is just pure hypocrisy at thus point
I'm so sorry for rambling but I just needed to get this of my chest
Huh!?? What??? Now look, I get it, some people like Lunter, I personally don't because they remind me of how I acted with my brother when I was younger, but if you do, cool, whatever. Ship what you want as long as it isn't illegal. But saying that Lumity was just weak brownie points?? Excuse me?? They went through actual development and weren't just there for "brownie points" thank you very much!
What?? I know some people like Charlie x Alastor, and if you do, again, whatever. I find it weird since Alastor is aro/ace and Charlie is lesbian, but again, whatever. Don't get me wrong, I don't like Chuggie (Or whatever their ship name is) but that's only cause I see it as boring and they have no chemistry and I feel like their relationship is kinda one-sided since all of Vaggie's development is depedent on Charlie, and we see Vaggie do all of this stuff for Charlie and she never does anything for Vaggie. But they aren't just there for brownie points??
For the last two, they are for ships I actively dislike, but even then, Blitzo treated Verosika (I can't spell her name for the life of me) horribly and she has every right to hate him, and Adora is literally lesbian???

Ramble time: Willow's Halloween Costume
Willow's Halloween costume always seemed strange to me, I dismissed it as Luz had told her about "human witches", and I didn't give it importance until I saw [this post] by @theprinceandthewitch
ANTI-HUNTLOW/PRO-HUNTCEDA/PRO-GUSNTER under the cut.
Don't like don't read.
Willow's costume. As I said at first I thought it was just that Luz had explained about the human "witches" to Willow. And she had decided to try looking like one.
Tumblr media
Then I saw the post mentioned before and realized that it was a representation of this image of Evelyn.
Tumblr media
And that just feels…off. I mean, did they try to make willow look like Evelyn here to make a parallel between CalebXEvelyn and Huntlow? Because they didn't archieved it.
I mean…
Number 1: Couples costumes. We know that for Halloween Luz and Amity were dressed up as Azura and Hecate.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
So…who Hunter had a matching Halloween costume with? No with Willow, but with Gus.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(And don't lie to me if Gus had 1 (one) year more, then half of the fandom shipped them. I mean, look at this, it's like he hands him a wedding ring. But, you know, no homo/s)
Tumblr media
*Sighs*
Anyway if they were trying to make a couple metaphor with the Willow costume… Well, they definitely haven't achieved it
Number 2: Willow's costume represents Evelyn, okay. But it's not the "real" Evelyn, it's a portrait of her seen through the eyes of witch hunters. This Evelyn is evil. And Willow wearing a costume to represent her…IDK, just rubs in the bad way
Tumblr media
We also know that Evelyn was a good witch, not a bad one. And who represents a good witch in these Halloween costumes?
Yes, that's right, Luz in her Good Witch Azura costume.
Tumblr media
Anyway, TTT was a Lunter chapter

Hey! I just want to make it VERY clear that I don’t expect much from this and I completely respect if you just simply don’t want to talk about this anymore and want to be done with the fandom/show (and you delete/ignore this ask as a result):
But, is there any chance you would be willing to tell us about the plans you had for your Lunter fanfic, Second Chances? No pressure at all, I just wanted to express how much I admired your writing and characterization, and I really loved that fanfic and I guess I’m just curious about how you were planning to end it!
Again, if you prefer to not answer this, I completely understand, seriously. 💕
Hiya! Oh, gosh, yeah, I had a lot of plans for that story. If I had continued with it, it probably would have ended up as long as Ships That Pass in the Night. My ideas tend to get kinda . . . long. 😩 Longer then I have the time for, sometimes. Alas.
I have indeed moved on from the fandom-- canon was just making me feel so frustrated-- but I don't mind sharing my Outline for the rest of Second Chances. Fair warning, though, it's long! I don't have the word 'rambles' in my username for no reason, haha. (And thanks so much for your kind words, by the way.)
-Oracle Homework. Hunter helps Luz with her Oracle homework. Talking to her is so much better then texting. Luz has glyphs that lets her activate the magic orb when she touches it. But while she has the magic she still needs the technique, to see the future. Hunter never has done Oracle magic of course. But he was taught the principles even thought he could not use it himself. He guides Luz through the process. Tells her to close her eyes and listen to his voice. With his coaching she can open her eyes and see the fragment of her future in the orb. She is thrilled. He's honestly surprised it worked. He asks what she sees. Luz says, "I see . . . us!" Hunter is floored by this statement. His heart flip-flops. "What?" She goes into more detail. She sees them camping together. Like they talked about before. Roasting marshmallows, eating s'mores. Hunter sort of squeaks, 'Really?' (The spell was meant to show your heart's desire, for the future, the trajectory of your current path) Hunter can't get this out of his head the next day. He tries desperately to forget about it.
-Glyph Magic. He's falling for her so hard. He grows slowly more rebellious. He continues to watch her glyph videos and eventually tries making glyphs for himself, and decides to show Luz, he is so excited. He does it late at night and Luz is so excited for him. They flirt.
-Ruler's Reach. He knows what he's doing is risky. But he doesn't care. Talking to her is giddy and intoxicating. They talk about Luz's writing for Ruler's Reach. It's casual and comfortable, so easy to talk to her now. They tease each other in an affectionate way.
-Staff Practice. She calls him during the day for help with staff tricks. Hunter is so damn in love he'd drop anything for her now. So he skips out on his duties to help her. He can't do much over scrolls though. He wants to go in person, but he isn't quite bold enough to do it. He helps as best he can, feels deeply frustrated, Luz almost gets hurt but saves herself with glyphs/only gets a little scratched. She thanks him for the help but he feels bad he didn't just go in person to help her. (He's terrified, go and meet the enemy? What if someone saw him?) Oh my god, he wanted to see her so badly. Luz: 'No I get it, I do! Don't worry.'
(but he WANTS to be able to be there. he WANTS to see her in person. and he's starting to RESENT the coven. he's so jealous of her being at hexside and doing all these fun things, he wants to share that with her, oh god, but he can't. he can't.)
-Luz Fills In. And then he learns the flyer derby team is down a player (Willow texts and asks if he can come, he says he can't and feels bad), and Luz ends up doing it, and Hunter is like but u need more training!! and she's like it's ok willow is gon help me and Hunter is so jealous and it hurts
He later sees they win!!! He is so proud. But wishes he could be there. It makes his throat tight, it burns. He does not sleep well at all and has a crap day next day, at the end of the day he is just an absolute mess and decides to brew a sleep potion. But he screws it up a little and gets kinda loopy and drunk. He texts Luz.
-Drunk Texts. He texts about his crap day and how much he wanted to talk to her. how he wanted to play the flyer derby game with her. he shit-talks the coven a little. luz is giggly at it, because he normally isn't one to talk such smack. it devolves into him rambling about how she makes him feel, how much he admires her, luz is really flustered and starts to wonder what's going on, he asks if he can call her because he wants to hear her adorable laugh, she calls and asks if he's okay, he is SO adorably excited to see her, she's like "are you okay man" and he's like, "damn girl I am now that you're here," Luz is like 'asdfrfhhgkk!!'
'so just like, curious, do you have any like, boyfriend or girlfriend'
'Oh my god Hunter seriously, are you okay'
'you're avoiding the Q :('
'um, no,'
"oh, cool! I mean. uh. it. would be cool. for. anybody whod want to. be that."
eventually Luz works out he's had a sleep potion but he thinks he kinda messed the recipe up a tad. luz gets worried and questions him further about it, but he explains it prob wont hurt him and will wear off probably around [insert time] (he knows potions pretty well) and luz realizes it's prob okay. she probably doesnt have to go over there.
hunter: 'you want to come here??'
she's like ah ha ha ummm that might not be a good idea, just promise me you'll drink some water and go to bed, okay? hunter is pretty suggestible in this state so she convinces him easily.
-The Morning After, he has a bad headache and is mortified at what he did last night, and is so scared he's wrecked his friendship with Luz. He cannot risk that, he values her way too much. Luz texts and checks in on him, and he is like........what do I say.
'luz I am so sorry'
(he does NOT remember all the stuff he even said, which is normal when you are drugged and sleepy, tbh, I don't recall all the stuff I think and say either when I've had my sleep meds. but he does recall being flirty and excessively honest and a few things he said, like how adorable her laugh is)
Luz assures him it's totally fine. And it was honestly freaking adorable. He's still embarassed, but she promises it's fine he just needs to be more careful with his potions.
Hunter tries to busy himself with work and forget about Luz. Yes, she is so tempting, she is so wonderful, but he had to be realistic. He could never be with her even if she DID want to be with him.
-Tibbles' Shop. And yet when he's out on patrol, busting Tibbles' shop of human trash, he can't help but think of her. And how much she misses home. He awkwardly asks Tibbles what a human would like. Eventually he gets a broken ukelele. He knows he can't bring it to her, but maybe he can play it for her? She could hear a human instrument. Maybe she'd like that. And m-maybe it would make up for the fact he couldn't be there for the team in person.
-Music Practice. He practices when he thinks nobody will hear, but Raine does. He is embarassed and tries to act dumb, but Raine is like cmon man what do you take me for. Sighing, Hunter shows them the instrument and explains it's human in origin and he was trying to figure out how to play it. Raine tells him it is out of tune (whatever it is) and they take it and tune it up. It's similar to a number of Demon Realm instruments, close enough for Raine to figure it out. The music it produces is lovely. Hunter wishes he could sound like that. Raine is happy to teach him, Hunter is hesitant about asking others for favors. Raine says it's fine, and also wonders why Hunter's sudden interest in music.
He finds a way to surf the human internet. He finds a song online to practice. He's never going to show it to her. Never. But he enjoys practicing it. Just as he enjoys practicing for Flyer Derby. His glyphs.
(haven't sketched out the scene where he actually plays for her, but he does at some point)
-Darius narrowly saves Hunter's hide. At some point, Kikimora finds a post on social media that shows Hunter with the rest of the Emerald Entrails (Willow had posted it), sporting a cardinal palisman, to boot. Kikimora brings this up to Darius, gleeful at the notion of busting Hunter. Darius has to think of a lie quickly on the spot to protect him. He mocks Kikimora for thinking that student was the actual Golden Guard. Obviously it was just some highschool student using a glamorstone to imitate him. Didn't she know it was popular among kids to use glamorstones to imitate celebrities? Very cringey, these kids, but yeah. AS IF the Golden Guard would waste his time playing sports games at Hexside?! Kikimora, you're ridiculous. Meanwhile, Hunter overhears this whole conversation, grateful for the save.
-And then, The Emerald Entrails lose another team member. Skara leaves the team to play Grudgby. They're in trouble. Without a full team, the EE will be disqualified for continuing to play matches. They need a new member. Hunter learns of this and wants to help but is incredibly torn about things. How can he possibly help? Eventually, he thinks back to Darius' lie to Kikimora and it gives him an idea. He goes to Darius to beg for help on his cover story. His cover story: he is a Hexside student named Caleb who does most his work as distance learning and he uses a glamorstone to look like the Golden Guard because he admires him. Except this isn't just a cover story. With Darius' help, acting as his legal guardian (forged paperwork), Hunter literally, legally gets accepted by the school this way-- so that he can join the game and play.
-Flyer Derby Game. We swap to Luz POV. We are not aware yet of all the stuff Hunter did with Darius to pull this off. We just see Hunter dramatically show up right in the brink of time to join the game and thus save the team. They play together, Luz & Hunter have incredible teamwork, pull off some really snazzy moves, flirt during the breaks, during the game too, are huge dorks, they win it for the team, it's a close race, they're victorious and so elated at the end, Luz kisses his cheek as the drink is dumped on them. The moment Luz looks away, Hunter bails, though; on the pretense he has to get back to the Coven before anyone notices, but the truth is he bails because he's overwhelmed and so tempted to pull Luz into his arms and never let her go.
-Aftermath. The social media reaction about that game is strong. Everyone adores the new student Caleb and how he and Luz won the game. There also are a lot of comments on how they looked together aaaaaand some implications are made about the nature of their relationship. (Luz tries to hide these comments from Hunter.) There are also some comments saying mean stuff because that's the nature of the internet, but in general it's a big hit.
However, Hunter is in crisis. He's certain he must not see Luz again in person, no matter how much he yearns, now matter how sweet it tastes to just be a Hexside student with no worries, how tempting it is to help her with Glyph videos, no matter how many comments on Penstagram are asking about them, etc . . .
-Climax of story. This is the moment Hunter faces a choice. I have multiple possible directions for the completion of the story. I usually leave multiple possible threads open for a story and don't decide on them until I have reached that point in the story. So this part isn't sketched out. But it's either Hunter chooses to stop interacting with Luz and remains loyal to Belos, or Luz manages to somehow convince him to rebel.
I do admit my favorite idea was that one night, Luz appears at his window, and the air in his lungs tastes like ice water; her eyes glow like the moon, and his skin prickles with gooseflesh from head to toe; the curtains flutter in the breeze, and in that moment, Hunter's resolve to stay away from her snaps like dry kindling.

[Image description: Headshot drawings of Willow, Hunter, Amity, and Luz from The Owl House. Each one has pride flags drawn next to them and their pronouns below them. Below the pronouns is the color palette that the artist used to draw the characters. They are also connected by variously colored lines. A key indicates that a red line is a romantic relationship, a yellow one is queerplatonic, and a blue one is platonic. Willow is ace, genderqueer, and pan; her pronouns are she/they/fae. They are in romantic relationships with Hunter, Luz and Amity. Hunter is trans, bi, and queerplatonic; his pronouns are he/him. He is in a queerplatonic relationship with Luz, and a platonic one with Amity. Amity is a lesbian demigirl and uses they/she pronouns. They are in a romantic relationship with Luz. Luz is queerplatonic, trans, genderfluid, and bi; he uses any pronouns. End description.]

Do you see it. Do you see my vision.
Tap for better quality
(sorry Amity looks kinda rushed, idk how to draw her and I'm sick)
Having a cold may have stopped me from going to theatre but I'll be damned if it stops me from making owl house more gay
I struggled a lot with Luz's lineart because I wanted to do a fun colour but the bright magenta made it look funky so I had to compromise
Also the colour palettes are from toh screenshots + a tint of their lineart colour

The cageyness around Evelyn's appearance is such a dead giveaway that she looks like Luz and not like Willow or Amity lol.
Because if she did look like Willow and they are actually going with a Huntlow endgame they would have... showed us her face in Hollow Mind. Mind you by the time Hollow Mind rolls around Luz is already dating Amity... but they still don't show us her face. And Evelyn's hair is dark brown like Luz's hair and not dark green like Willow's hair.
For the people who legitimately think Caleb/Evelyn is supposed to be Lumity and not Lunter [why you would ever think Luz is supposed to be Caleb is laughable because Hunter is literally a clone of Caleb and shares allegorical symbolism with him] AGAIN, Luz and Amity are dating by the time the events of Hollow Mind happen and people believe they are going to last until the end of the series... but we still get no face reveal. We get no confirmation she looks like Amity. While Evelyn and Amity both have brown hair, Evelyn's hair is darker than Amity's AND it's stylized like Luz's season 3 hair style.
If Evelyn was actually white and looked similar to Amity... they would have also showed us her face. But they're not showing us her face despite it being obvious she was a Clawthorn. If you were to silhouette Eda with short hair [Echoes of The Past] and put her next to Evelyn's silhouette they'll look the same. But despite how obvious it is that she was a Clawthorn we still get no face reveal and they even block her face from certain angles. They block out the left side of her face in one painting but show us the right side of her face in another painting.
She doesn't look like Amity or Willow, because if she did, Philip would have called either one of them Evelyn in his semi-lucid state. The reason why he calls Hunter "Caleb" is because he looks nearly identical to him [he's the only Grimwalker who looks the most like him], so we can assume Philip calls Luz Evelyn because she looks nearly identical to her.
Evelyn wasn't white or an Asian woman with pale skin, she was a black woman like Luz. Some parts of her body are pale because she has vitiligo. This is why they block out the left side of her head... because she still has pigmentation on this side of her head. And when they show us the right side of her face, they put her in a long sleeve shirt because she still has melanin in her arms lol.
