watches old footage of leaders like hitler, stalin, or jfk to study their body language, hand movements. kai practices in front of a mirror until it feels natural. every gesture he makes while speaking is rehearsed. the way he waves his hands, points, or clenches his fists is meant to manipulate emotions.

this is like a deep cut from an old fandom so bear with me.

Man I was scrolling through all the old Achievement Hunter posts. I have stuff going backto like 2012 and even before that. God listening to old audios and videos and looking at old gif sets…

They were everything to me. Michael, Gavin, Geoff, Jack, Ray, and even (yes I’m going to mention him) Ryan. There was Lindsay and Matt Jeremy and Kdin and Adam Ellis. Trevor and Caleb.

The first Vs episode. The first Play Pals. Lazer Team. X-ray and Vav. RWBY. RvB.

There’s so many let’s plays that I rewatch a couple times of year. Play Pals Outlast (1&2). Play pals Super Bunny Man. Let’s play 3d Ultra Minigolf. Let’s Play Family Feud. Uno the Movie. All of the rage quits.

But I forgot how much they were like a family. They genuinely have a shit about each other. Even beyond the Gavin/Michael bromance they all cared so much. And it all went to shit because of Ryan.

I don’t fully believe they would have stayed golden forever even without the incident. They would haves faded just like they are now. Hell Achievement Hunter doesn’t even exsist anymore. It’s been announced that’s it officially retired and they started a new channel.

I watched it live and die. Ray left, and Geoff pulled way back to personal issues. The Ryan incident. Jeremy leaving for personal issues. Gavin pulling wayyyy back (I’m not even sure he’s still involved in any capacity anymore.) Matt being fired (which was bullshit and I’ll die on that hill). Jack is still there.

The amount of shows they started and cancelled. Always open got cancelled again just a couple of days ago. They can’t hold an audience anymore. It makes me sad. Their old videos have 2+ million views on individual videos. Now you’re hard pressed to find one break 100k.

Like idk. Nostalagia is a bitch I guess. To me, they’re stilling in that shitty office with their desks on top of each other. Michael is yelling at Gavin, Gavin is making the loudest bird squawking noise you’ve ever heard, Jack is affectionate laughing while working, Geoff is laughing hysterically in a corner about to piss his pants, Ray is trying to get away from the carnage while also film them, and Ryan is laughing in the doorway wondering what he just walked in on.

I don’t man I wish it was 2014 and they’re was a new Minecraft LP and GTA LP to look forward to every week.

In light of the news that the RT website and apps will shut down on May 15, I'm starting a record of what I've got saved locally + what I'm planning to save. I am not trying to get a comprehensive archive of all AH/LP content; that's what the Archive of Pimps is for. Instead, this is a personal library that prioritizes content that I enjoyed and want to rewatch down the road.

If you think I'm missing anything, let me know. If you have requests for specific videos, let me know and I'll see what I can do. Also, if anyone has a FIRST account they don't mind sharing, I'd love to get into the RT website and get local saves of FIRST content, like Hardcore Tabletop. RT has disabled the ability to purchase a FIRST membership, and has not shared what will be happening to FIRST content once the website shutters.

Finally, I'm currently on pace to fill up a 2TB hard drive (Minecraft alone is almost 1TB), and I'll need another 2/4TB hard drive to continue nabbing local saves of things. I stumbled upon a random LP almost 10 years ago. At the time I was deeply depressed and had barely any friends. From there I started watching Minecraft and GTA and fell more and more in love with AH the more I watched. And then I discovered RT as a whole. RT Podcast, Immersion, Million Dollars, but, On the Spot, Free Play and many more projects. Suddenly I had something to watch and comfort me every single week if not day. I watched the RT Podcast live for years, watched every LP as soon as I could so I could have something to laugh about every day. I watched some of these people grow into amazing human beings. If I think about how people like Gavin and Michael were at the beginning to now I get so emotional.

Watching Geoff overcome his alcohol addiction, seing AH members and others building families, grow beyond the company, seeing the love those silly people that you watch have for each other used to and still does make me so happy. I used to have Minecraft & 7 Days to die LPS going in the background all the time because their voices were comforting to me. There literally wasn't a single day where I didn't consume RT's content in some shape or form. And then there was the RH situation. Suddenly everything I watched felt tainted by his influence. Everything that used to comfort me suddenly didn't anymore. And for a while I tried to keep watching AH because other than RH I admire everyone so, so much. But with Geoff taking a backseat, Gavin not appearing as much, Fiona & Jeremy leaving I just lost interest. And with my other favorite shows gone (or changed) like RT Podcast, On the Spot, Free Play etc. I stopped watching RT comepletely.

But with the news of Rooster teeth shutting down I'm suddenly reminded of all the good times that were had. During the times I watched AH I was probably the most creative when it comes to making gifs and such. I watched a random Coup LP yesterday and I laughed my ass of. And then I watched the stream they did earlier today and I cried my fucking eyes out. If you knew me, you would know that I do not cry that often and definitely not over a span of an hour. Seeing people that I admire and respect so much like Barbara, Trevor, Geoff, Jack, Jessica, Kerry, Chris and others tear up talking about how much they all love each other and gonna miss spending every day together really just reminded me why I fell in love with the company. Because in the days before Full Screen and Warner Bros etc. Rooster teeth never really felt like a company to me, it felt like a family. And even if I haven't watched any of the recent stuff they made I still feel so upset for them. And I honestly just wanna say thank you to everyone who ever worked at RT for making so much (mostly) free content for us to consume and love. I wish every single one of you all the the best and hope to be able to support everyone the best I can in the future.

101: Parts Found in Sea // Seat of the Writing Man

Seat of the Writing Man Parts Found in Sea 1984, Between

Named for a headline describing an airplane that crashed into the ocean, Parts Found in Sea were a mellow post-punk/college rock band that worked the Toronto club circuit hard throughout the 1980s before fading into obscurity. Their small catalogue (two EPs, an LP, and a live album) turns up around used shops in the GTA with fair frequency, and there are a few fond remembrances online from author/activist Cory Doctorow and the wonderful ‘80s indie blog Wilfully Obscure (which I was delighted to learn is still in business).

Parts are a very vibey band—meandering tempos, no hooks to speak of, plenty of glutenous bass to sway dreamily to. They’re not quite goth though—vocalist Steve Cowal is both melancholy and a poet, but seems like he would just look confused if you told him most people start bands to get laid. As Doctorow notes, most of Parts’ songs feel less like verse/chorus/verse/chorus affairs and more like a series of movements. It’s most notable on side-closers “Satellite” and “Body Sends Us,” which have jammy structures that give modest guitarist David Currie (not the former Ottawa Symphony Orchestra conductor, which, I know, you were thinking) a chance to scratch away at his instrument in the spotlight.

In retrospect, Parts Found in Sea sound like one of those transitional bands between European post-punk and the forthcoming wave of predominantly North American post-rock bands. If they’d come along a little later, they might’ve alighted on some ideas that could’ve expanded and abstracted their sound in interesting ways—but as it is, they left behind a catalogue full of pleasant surprises for aficionados of gloomy, thoughtful ‘80s alternative.

Life Update

I had to put all my projects on pause but I am feeling inspired again and look forward to getting back into the groove of things. For the longest it felt like I invested too much free time in content creation and or streaming to distract myself from the things that were happening behind the screen.

To keep that balance going, I am now hanging up my gta and redm RP hat for the foreseeable future. I will still pop up to hang with friends, but that is about it. My last experience in a roleplay server was enjoyable because I met a group of individuals who are amazing. I really enjoy their company. However, there were many things that transpired outside of that friend group that reminded me why I removed myself from the Roleplay community .I plan to get back into streaming things I enjoy like cozy games. I want to give Once Human a try, get back in to Palia, and do more Sims decorating streams for LP preps.

My Waiting Till Sunrise Story will start next month. Sorry for the delay. Actually, idk if I am sorry because my game was literally broken lol. I am deleting so much crap out of my mods folder and it's been getting better. I guess I am sorry as it was my fault for hoarding CC?

As far as Youtube goes, I am doing a deep purge of content that I feel no longer represents who I am. I started youtube in my early 20s and I am 32 now. I will most likely archive them on to my vod channel or just unlist them as I doubt anyone is watching them. I will be pausing on Second Life Content after my next video since I want to give myself a complete rebrand. New name, new avatar, new graphics, all of it. A coworker of my says they swore they saw a sims tiktok video I made and that gagged and gopped me. It made me consider changing my name but I figured it's too late for that. Then I started thinking of rebranding and well, here we are.
