Ode to The Ocean

The Ocean is the life source. The great womb of humanity & all life of this planet. It calls to me & beckons me home. Every time I am close to her, I yearn to be emerged in her waters. Though she has different aspects of her personality, from my coastal home state, every submergence feels like a crisp baptism that reminds every cell in my body that it is alive. It pains me to walk on her shore with shoes. Like every surfer, even though I am not a good surfer, she is the ultimate beauty & muse & I am in an endless love affair with her.

She is the divine mother of life on Earth, from the insemination of a star that went supernova and ejaculated the building blocks of life across the universe before any of us were even a thought. Metaphorical & literal conception of life.

All things move in circles as all things in the universe recycle themselves on a large enough time continuum. This makes me question the existence of heaven, though it reaffirms my belief in G-d and that I am made in the image of, as all things are connected. Hell, I'm pretty sure, is a mental state devoid of enlightenment.

I wonder if at the end of this planet's life, the Ocean will retake the Earth & we will all return to the oceanic womb. I certainly hope so.

I feel oddly comfortable in the water. I always have, though I know it can terrify others. Even being in the Navy, the chance of being lost at sea, seemed fitting and not as bad as the other horrors of war. To be re-enveloped by the ultimate mother, even with her icy black depths.

I was a pre-mature baby, only 5 1/2 lbs and jaundiced. I have wondered if I'm slightly less alive because I was a pre-mi. Or am I slightly closer to death and more desperate to live because of it? Some times I think so. I seem to travel more, get out more, hike, love and enjoy good food, sex and conversation more than respective civilian peers. It seems sometimes, that they sip at life while I am trying to gulp it down acutely aware that it is fleeting. I want to live every moment fully. I want to experience the broad spectrum of life. I want to laugh until my ribs hurt & cry when my heart is broken until I run out of tears. And then I want to sit on the beach as it is 0,0,0,0 of coordinates system & immerse myself in the waves that remind me I can always start again. I want to be able to walk to the ocean & feel the blessing of the tide gently kissing my toes, until my energy leaves my body & becomes part of the energy that courses through everything in the great circle of life. #poetry #lovetheocean
