“Your Tip, Love.” (Fred Weasley x reader)
A/N: Can students get part-time jobs...? Idk but just go with it dude.
Taglist: @obsessedwithrandomthings
-----------------------------------------------
Why did your mom tell you to get a job? You weren’t poor, nor was this to look good or have work experience. She just hated when you had nothing to do at Hogwarts. It didn’t have to be a good job, but your mom knew that if you didn’t have anything to do you’d die of boredom.
And that’s why you’ve been working at Honeydukes starting this year. On the contrary, standing in the middle of the shop and offering samples of candies seemed to lose your interest very quickly throughout the weeks. At least you got discounts on the candies.
“(Y/n)! Could you get me a Bertie Bott’s every flavour beans- pretty please?”
“No!”
Unfortunately, it was highly embarrassing when your friends burst into the shop and demanded free candies from you. Even worse if you see a classmate or someone you worked on an assignment with. Every Saturday, it was a ritual of you crossing your fingers and praying to every great wizard you didn’t see a familiar face and make it awkward.
This Saturday, it seemed to be going fairly well. The customers who were willing to try a sample were very nice, and no one you knew came in. Ahh, today was going to be-
“George hurry up!”
You froze. You recognized that voice- you definitely spoke too soon.
Fred Weasley, you definitely knew him, who wouldn’t? Famous prankster along with George and Lee. One of Gryffindor’s star beaters. And you for sure wouldn’t forget him after that one time you were paired with him to do that assignment in potions.
You remember awkwardly walking to the table for you to work together. You felt sweaty- did you stand too far or too close to him? He did help you which was the opposite of his usual antics. Except you noticed from the corner of your eyes that he was grinning the whole time... why was this important?
You did not realize until your friend flat out told you- they thought you liked him, and that he liked you. They somehow noticed how smiley he was around you- which you did have to admit was out of place because y’all were in potions! And of course they saw your awkward and knew how clammy your hands would get when you were nervous. It was a day of relentless teasing.
But back to a present time problem- Fred, George and Lee had just walked into the store. They were bound to see you, you were practically a sitting duck.
Your panic mode gave you three options:
Fight - “Hi Fred!” but who were you kidding, your confidence was level 0.
Flight - Run away and have Mr. and Mrs. Flume scold you? Plus, wouldn’t that make you a tad dramatic?
Freeze - And then you could-
“Are those chocolate frogs?” asked Lee Jordan. You were snapped out of your thoughts and your face started to get hot instantly.
“Um, yeah would you like one?” you said shyly stretching out the tray of sweets.
“Free samples? Wicked.” The boys each took one chocolate frog from the tray and started to browse around the shop for any other sweets that interested them.
You weren’t able to see Fred’s reaction to seeing you, but knowing that he didn’t say anything made you guess that he didn’t recognize you, or something along those line. You turned your head in the boys’ direction. They were distracted by the shelves of candies and were not making things awkward with you.
You sighed a breath of relief and checked the watch on your left wrist. Your shift was almost done, and you could finally return to your dorm and flop on the bed.
The three boys paid for their treats and left the store. You took one last glance at them as they exited and then back to your watch.
“Hey (y/n).” You lifted your head to come to sight of Fred, who was in the middle of holding the door slightly open for himself.
“It was nice seeing you.” he said with a wink. With that he left, and you seemed to still be initiating the third panic mode option with your jaw dropped. Did Fred Weasley just say it was nice to see you?!
The moment Mr. Flume bid you goodbye for the week, you bolted back to the castle immediately.
---
It was another Saturday at Honeydukes. Fred had not said anything to you about last week, and you were grateful. Little did you know, that older Weasley twin had a plan.
“(Y/n)!” shouted your friend Maya.
“Oh hi Maya!” you said surprised that she came to Honeydukes.
“Just wanted to visit, wouldn’t want you to be lonely.” she joked. You rolled your eyes playfully. You couldn’t deny it though, you did enjoy when your friends made a bit of time to be with you at your shift.
You were talking for a bit, until you saw who you did and did not want to see. You watched with wide eyes as Harry, Ron, Hermione and the twins entered the store.
“Hey isn’t that Fred Weasley? The guy you get all nervous around?” she whispered in your ear.
“Maya!” you scolded attempting to bump into her with your tray of sweets.
“Oh I see how it is...” she winked in amusement of the scowl on your face. She then went to the shelves in the back.
“Maya where are you going?” you asked almost frantically.
“Hm? Oh nothing, these chocolates look really interesting...” she said clearly putting on an act to seem busy. You were definitely going to get her back for that.
“Are those sugar quills free samples?” asked a voice which made you turn your head back to the front. You came to face Ron Weasley, who you knew as the twins’ younger brother.
“Yeah, feel free to take one.” You tried to sound less shaky, you hoped it worked. Ron’s eyes widened and started taking a few quills.
“Ronald!” scolded Hermione hitting his arm. Ron was taken aback. “She said take one, not an all you can eat buffet!”
“Alright I’m sorry!” Ron said slightly embarrassed.
“It’s okay, really!” you said trying to reassure them, you didn’t want to make it more weird. Hermione shook her head at him as Harry and the twins were snickering. They all parted ways within the store, except Fred didn’t budge.
“Sorry about my brother.” he said sheepishly.
“It’s fine, it’s no big deal anyway.” you said. Your heart was pounding, the fact that you uttered a full sentence to Fred was an accomplishment.
“What’s a girl like you doing, working at Honeydukes?” Fred asked while picking up one of your sugar quills.
“Oh, my mom doesn’t like when I don’t have anything to do. I mean it’s fine really, I get a discount on candy.” you explained. “W-what about you?”
“Me? Well rumour has it that there’s a really cute girl who works at Honeydukes who displays the sweets every Saturday.” he said smirking. Your face went beet red- he was talking about you?!
“R-really...?” you asked attempting to sound oblivious.
“Yes, and she’s especially cute when she gets all quiet around me.” He was making you more embarrassed than intended. Way for him to call you out sis. You were about to say something, but the trio and George finished paying for their candies and were heading out.
“Fred, stop flirting, let’s go!” called George holding the door open for him. Your brain was going haywire- Fred Weasley flirting with you?? Fred chuckled.
“Be patient you prat.” George rolled his eyes in return. You watched as Fred fished in his pockets for coins and placed them on your display tray.
“Your tip, love.” he said. He bent down to your height and kissed your cheek. You were left with the feeling of his soft lips on your face. You couldn’t utter a single word out. Fred waved at your paralyzed state and left with George shaking his head and laughing at his twin’s romantic gesture.
“Oh my god...” said a voice behind you. You turned your head slowly and saw Maya.
“Maya! What the fu-”
“Did Fred just kiss you?!” she squealed. She looked more excited than you.
“I-” you couldn’t even English at this point. You knew she was going to tease you for this big time, so you had to change the subject. “Maya, did you really take ten minutes to admire those chocolates in the back?”
“Yes.”
---
Your shift was almost done for today, however your heart was fluttering the whole time thinking of Fred. Oh god, how were you supposed to face him now?
Suddenly you heard a thump coming from the cellar of the store. You didn’t go down there often, so you felt a little uneasy when you walked in slowly to check.
“Mr. Flume? Mrs. Flume?” you called out quietly. No answer. You looked left and right, there was nobody you could see.
Your whole body did a small jump as you saw a tile on the floor move. The tile kept moving until you saw it lift and move to the side. You were shocked to see Fred emerge.
“Oh hello love.” he said casually.
“Fred! What are you doing?!” you whisper-yelled as you went to help him get out. As soon as he stepped out, he dusted off his clothes.
“I missed you.” he said a smirk playing on his lips. Fred making you flustered twice in one shift? Your heart couldn’t take it.
“S-stop playing with me, why did you- no, how did you come here?! What was that?!” you asked pushing him up the stairs back to the shop. He purposely resisted a little to make your life harder. As soon as you both reached the top of the stairs, he leaned against wall.
“Didn’t know you spoke that much, (y/n).” he teased. You groaned.
“Fred, I already saw you this morning, why are you-”
“Go on a date with me.” You backed into the doorway from hearing what he had just asked you. You noticed that there wasn’t a playful grin on his face, but instead looked almost worried.
“Okay.” you said smiling.
“Okay?” he asked repeating your reply. You realized how short and blunt your answer seemed. No wonder you’ve been single all this time.
“I-I mean yes! I’d love to go on a date with you.” you said shyly. He walked over to your small form and lightly pinned you against the wall.
“Can I kiss you then?” he asked brushing your jawline with this thumb. You managed to nod in response. With that, he closed the remaining gap between you and locked his lips with yours.
The kiss made you dizzier ten times more than the simple peck from hours ago. And bloody hell was he a good kisser. Your arms went up to link around his neck, bringing him closer and deepening the kiss.
“Um (y/n), it’s the end of your shift you and your boyfriend can leave now...”
You both broke off immediately in embarrassment as you recognized the voice as Mrs. Flume. She was standing awkwardly behind the cashier. Oh god, you were going to get fired for sure.
“...I told him to use the front door but he just had to pull a Santa Clause-“ The three of you turned your heads to the door to see Lee and George mid sentence stopping to see you and Fred with your hands on each other and Mrs. Flume catching you in the act.
“Oh my- Mrs. Flume we’re so sorry!” said George pretending to be scared and apologizing a million times.
“Yes yes it will never happen again!” shouted Lee being just as dramatic.
“You know how couples get..” said George pushing you and Fred out the door quickly.
“U-uhm I’m so sorry Mrs. Flume, S-see you next week!” you stuttered out without even looking her in the eye. As you stopped outside you panted as Fred was giggling the entire time.
“Why are you laughing? Fred!” you said playfully slapping him on the arm as he continued laughing.
“Oh Merlin, (y/n) you don’t know how funny that was- your reaction was adorable!”
“You should be glad, we saved both your arses.” Said Lee proudly with George nodding along.
“Now you can finally go on your date!” Said George cheerfully. “But if I see you both snogging when you get back I won’t be there to save either of you again.”
You blushed at the thought of you and Fred snogging again. Fred scoffed and waved them off. He took your hand in his as you started to walk on your date.
“By the way, I don’t care what George says. There will be snogging, a hundred percent.”

Chapter 11
They had been flying for hours. Sam fell asleep, almost instantly, after he got on the jet. Wanda had fallen asleep an hour after Sam, her mind had been reeling far too much for her to settle at first.
Steve was piloting(technically the jet is in autopilot so he wasn’t) but that didn’t steal his air of authority. Bucky having just been left in Wakanda.
And Natasha.
The red head had firmly planted herself in a seat near the jets door an hour after boarding.
Steve spoke to her before then. He knows how much she loves you and had to make sure she was one hundred percent on board with leaving. She assured him she was.
While she still stands by that, her heart was seemingly screaming at her, aching at your absence and her decision to leave.
Those feelings is exactly why, for majority of the flight, she had been staring at a picture. The only picture she ever bothered to hold on to: one you had taken on your second date.
****Flashback****
“Natasha, babe, we fight lunatics and terrorists for a living, and you’re telling me you’re scared of a rollercoaster?” You stood beside her with a teasing grin, the large metal contraption in front of you.
She rolled her eyes and mushed your face,“ I’m not scared of anything. I just don’t want to get on.” Her eyes then skeptically watched passerby.
You, noticing that she was slipping into Widow mode, grabbed her hands and pulled her closer,“ what if we,” you stretched the word and looked around,“ go to the beach instead.”
She’s still hesitant. It’s not often that she subjects herself to being out in the open like this, but you had pouted and fucked her into giving in. Turns out your adorable face mixed with a mind blowing orgasm was the perfect kryptonite.
“Come on Natty,” you tried one more time,“ just for a couple minutes. I don’t want our date to end just yet.”
Once again, you pulled a pout, eyes softening just enough to make her groan and look away.
“Fine, fine,” before you could cheer she added,“ but only for a couple of minutes.”
“Perfect.”
The two of you had walked off Coney Island and down to the beach. You took her to, what looked like, the only secluded spot, and pulled her into your lap on the sand.
With the sun ending it’s appearance in the sky, stars scattered above you and pink and orange streams painted across the horizon.
“Picture time!” You exclaimed childishly, whipping your phone out, and holding it up.
“No.” Her quick response halted your actions.
Leaning back to look at her, you asked,“ do you not want to remember this moment?”
“I’ll remember.” She assured.
“But I might forget. This picture is for me!” You then smushed your lips on to her cheek and took the picture, but not before she could cover her face.
The stupid grin she pulled hidden by her hands.
****End Flashback****
Despite her not wanting to take the picture, she stole it from you the moment you had it printed off.
And now it sat in her hands, the top corners dogeared from her fidgeting.
She needs this picture, just in case. In case you don’t find her clues. In case you can’t crack her password and encryption. In case she never sees you again, intentionally or not.
She needs her memories of you.
“Romanoff!”
Her eyes linger on the picture, before she’s pocketing it, and going over to Steve.
“We’re ten minutes out, mind waking Sam and Wanda?”
Natasha simply nods and sets off to do just that. Her hand rests on Wanda’s shoulder, gently shaking the young witch.
“Maximoff, wake up.”
Wanda has never been much of a heavy sleeper so she wakes with that little effort, saying a small, sleepy, “alright” with a rub of her eyes.
Sam however doesn’t wake as easily. The gentle shaking just makes him mumble “five more minutes mom,” before drifting back off. Harsher shaking makes him groan and complain, rolling over to face the inside of the seats.
Natasha decides to just roll him off the chairs.
His body slams on to the floor and that just barely wakes him up. Still laying on the ground, he yawns and rubs his eyes with his fist.
“Wilson get up, we’re here.” Steve’s stern yet gentle voice says.
This has everyone moving to get the few things they did have.
Here is a safe house in Spain.
Steve had lifted a list of them from paper files at the compound, crossing referencing with the ones listed on the computer files. He narrowed it down to a few that could only be found on paper and took them.
It didn’t mean they were completely untraceable, but it would take a lot more than a look up to find them.
The small group walks through a span of woods were the jet is hidden, to the safe house. Before entering they survey the area.
Upon finding nothing, they go inside.
Feeling just the slightest bit safer, everyone slumps sigh exhaustion.
“We’ll move in the morning just in case someone managed to find us, but for now everyone rest up.” Steve’s voice rings over the small group with the same commanding tone he took with all the Avengers.
Everyone nods and heads into opposite rooms, except Natasha and Wanda, both seemingly frozen in the loss of the people they love.
It’s the brunette Witch who breaks the sad silence,“ do you think they’ll forgive us?”
Natasha feels the tears spring into her eyes.
Leaving you was the last thing she wanted but the decision has been made. She can’t take it back now. She’s also a fugitive at this point.
“They’ll forgive us.” She tries to assure,“ hell they probably don’t think we need to be forgiven. Just,” the red head takes in a deep breath and places a gentle hand on her friends shoulder,“ shower, get some rest, you’ll feel better in the morning.”
Despite her saying that, she doesn’t believe it. Why should she when she knows it won’t work.
Not having you is like not having her heart or soul, no shower or sleep could ever make that feeling better.
It’s why she cries the second she’s out of the shower and in her room. The tears she managed to hold at bay pour from her eyes as she nearly curls into a ball on the small couch.
That sadness, however, is short lived.
“Awe, don’t tell me those tears are for me Pretty Girl.”
She hadn’t know what this felt like. To have her hope be fulfilled. Truthfully she’d never really had hope before but she hoped in you and this- this euphoria, it feels amazing.
She left you clues and you followed them because why wouldn’t you? She’s the love of your life and you’d be damned if you just let her get away.
You found her. Her trust in your intelligence was well placed. As was her trust in your feelings for her.
Wiping her nose with the sleeve of your (stolen) shirt, she sniffs, and looks up at you. Green teary eyes meet yours and you smile at how beautiful she is even when sad.
“You’re so annoying Y/L/N.”
You step closer, taking her deathly delicate hands in yours. The warm smile you pull still manages to be cocky in some way and it drives Natasha crazy.
Pulling her up and into your arms you say,“ as if I’d let you slip away.”
Her eyes are roaming over your body just to ensure that you’re actually here,“ I was hoping you wouldn’t.”
Natasha wraps her arms around your waist and hugs you to her. You return the hug, breathing in that cinnamon and vanilla scent you had begun to miss over those few hours.
But Natasha knows you, and she knows you won’t let the silence last, which is why she’s already smiling and shaking her head when you break it.
“How could you not, I’m fuckin awesome.” You over dramatically wink at her.
The red head rolls her eyes, a small laugh on her lips as she starts to walk away from you.
“That was a moment, and you ruined it.” She points out.
Feigning shock, you press a hand to your heart,“ I would never!”
Your heart soars as she laughs once again, sound lighter than the last. This beauty has been through a lot of shit recently and to make her smile and laugh despite it all is an achievement worth the highest medal.
Before you can step closer to her there’s a knock at the door.
Natasha quirks an eyebrow before going to it. Cracking it, she peeks outside, befor stepping back and fully opening it.
“I’m sorry for bothering you I just, I think I’m going mad. I keep hearing Y/N’s voice and I can feel Vision as if he’s right beside me.” Your witchy best friend stammers out the second she’s inside.
Your eyes widen,“ oh shit, Vision.”
Neither Natasha or Wanda have time to react as you’re out the window already.
Wanda blinks a couple times to not sure if this is real or if she has in fact lost her mind. One glance at Natasha’s uncontrolabbly smiley face and she knows that was actually you.
Her slight joy is wiped away as she realizes her presence just scared you off. That’s what she thinks anyway.
She’s proven wrong when you step back through the window, this time followed by Vision phasing through the wall.
“Tada!” You whisper/yell, hands gesturing to the red android.
“Viz.” Wanda’s shocked response whispers through the room.
“Wanda.” He smiles back with a nod.
“Wait!” You ruin yet another moment.“ Before you two get all lovey, I’d like to hug my best friend.”
Arms wide you step closer to Wanda. Her magic flickers through her eyes in fear.
No, she’s not scared of you, she’s scared that you hate her. That you’re disappointed in the choice she made to side with Steve.
“Uh Wanda, this is getting awkward.” You murmur.
“You don’t hate me?” The Witch asks, barely above a whisper.
“Woah! Hate? I could never hate you kid, I love you. And I’m not holding anything against you. We all did what we thought was right. I’m just really glad you’re okay.”
At that the brunette throws herself into your arms, wrapping her own around you tightly.
Her body relaxes the instant she’s in your arms. The comfort of your warmth is an unbelievable contrast to the cold of her cell on the Raft. The gentleness of you hand on the back of her head nothing like the harsh presence of her shock collar. Your hold tight but not restricting like her straight jacket.
“Please tell me they didn’t use that shock collar on you.” You whisper, praying they didn’t hurt your best friend.
She doesn’t answer. She can’t. Not when there’s the smallest of a burn mark on her neck, reminding her of the sharp sting of the electrocution.
And you know they did. It’s why you to tighten your hold just a little and blink away your tears.
“I’m strongly tempted to go back and kick their asses”
The girl immediately pulls back, brown eyes staring into yours. Your girlfriend also looks at you, waiting for an explanation.
“No. No more violence, please.” She whispers.
For the first time sense he came in, Vision speaks.
“I agree with Agent Y/L/N. They deserve reprecutions for their actions toward you.”
Wanda steps from your hold and over to Vision. Her hand just barely cups the androids cheek.
“That’s not necessary. I’m here, I’m safe now,” she pauses,“ and I’m with you.”
You don’t think you’ve ever seen Vision smile, until now.
It’s faint but it’s there, and it’s all cause of the girl in front of him.
“You guys are cute.” You smile.
Luckily the android can’t blush, or he’d be redder than his skin. Much like Wanda, who’s cheeks blaze.
Natasha rolls her eyes,“ okay, Wanda, Vision, I’m sure you two want privacy and rest.” She gestures to her door.
They both nod and leave with a smile to you and Natasha.
“You just kicked th-”
She shuts you up with a fierce, burning, loving kiss. Hands on both sides of your face, body flush with yours.
“You’re so very annoying.” Her lips brush yours with each word.
Grinning like mad, you pull the red head over and to the bed.
Once she’s in your arms, you sigh contentedly,“ I may be annoying, but you love me.”
Silence.
A deep breath in and a sigh out.
“Yeah,” she smiles softly to herself. Wiggling her body closer to yours,“ I do love you.”

Postcard - Jojo de la Guerra
A/N: This is modern day Newsies. I just love Jojo, its impossible not to.
Jojo starts pen palling with the reader and then they meet in person for the first time.
///
It had started with a postcard. One that wished him a magical day and had a little sticker on it of Jupiter with a smiley face. It was the first postcard he had gotten after he had decided to sign up for a website that promoted pen pals and snail mail. Wouldn’t it be nice, he had thought, to share a little bit of happiness with someone the old fashioned way. Race had teased him endlessly about it but Jojo was set on the idea, he didn’t care that he wasn’t as artistic as Jack or as clever with words as Davey, he sent little doodles to people or funny poems he thought up in English class. He sent letters all over but mostly he exchanged them with that first person. He sent them envelopes full of stickers or little packages with facemasks and washi tape and friendship bracelets he made. They sent him letters with sticky notes that looked like moons, paint chips with quotes on them, envelopes full of confetti.
The address wasn’t far from his own, within the limits of the city in fact. Closer to the Lower East Side than he was, maybe fifteen minutes on the subway. Once he took the line to your street and walked to the corner, where a convenience store stayed open 24hrs a day. He bought a soda and a lottery ticket and left, not sure what he was even expecting to happen. When he told Race about it two days later his best friend teased him endlessly for the entire ordeal. It didn’t dampen his mood though, or alter the overwhelming feeling of pure joy that spread through him when he opened the mailbox to find a letter from you.
You were the one who first suggested a faster mode of communication. You sent a card that had watercolour popsicles on the front of it and inside offered your number as an afterthought to a full page of writing about a book you were currently reading. A little bubble around the digits, separating them from the rest of the note with the suggestion that ‘we could text sometimes’.
You texted all the time. He sent you pictures of your mail going into the mailbox but offered no more glimpse of himself than a hand. You sent him a picture of something funny in Target and he thought he could just make out the tiny, blurry, obscured reflection of you in a mirror at the end of the aisle but it told him nothing about your physical appearance. It wasn’t that it was some great mystery. Maybe he would never meet you in person, maybe you would just be some entity that existed in letters and on his phone. You continued to send letters weekly and so did he, glad that this new form of constant communication did not lessen your affection for sending him small gifts in the mail.
Sometimes you had endless conversations, sometimes days of pool games or finding the strangest bitmoji and sending it along. Gif wars and links to news articles, terrible reviews of tv shows, music, and movies. Texts never seemed to cease and yet the length of your letters never wavered either. He couldn’t find your face in a crowd but he had memorised your handwriting.
That changed when he proposed seeing the new Star Wars movie together. It had happened spontaneously but also not. He’d thought about it for ages, meeting you in person, he had just never thought about it happening for real. But then he offered and you accepted. He would be in a red hoodie and a pair of track pants, he’d even sent you a picture of the outfit laying on his bed. You added it to the list of things you knew better than his face.
You were already at the theatre when he got there, waiting on a bench outside the ticketing booth, watching for any sign of the boy that you were supposed to be meeting. When he saw you, and recognized the hoodie as the one you sent him a picture of, a smile spread so wide on his face you thought he could light an entire city with the joy behind it. When you stood he greeted you with a hug. The kind of warm, all encompassing hug that made you want to stay there forever, safe and comfortable and feeling a little light headed from the overwhelming emotion that struck you.
“This feels so surreal,” Jojo commented when he finally released you, a little too soon if you were honest. He took your hand and headed for the escalator, “not surreal in a bad way obviously, just-“
It was meeting for the first time when you already knew everything about each other. When you could already list his favorites and know his people by name without him having to provide clues as to how they fit with him. It was that tiny fleeting hope that he would kiss you even though you had no idea what he even looked like.
“Surreal,” you echoed. He offered another smile, impossibly happy in its appraisal of you.
As the end credits rolled on the film you stayed in your seat, shifting to face Jojo instead of the screen and lifting the armrest that separated you in an attempt to move closer to him. He was reading all the names that went along the screen with a rapt interest, as if he was truly invested in who catered the food for the cast and crew. You sat on your knee in hopes of being closer, letting your other leg dangle off the chair beside Jojo’s. Where the seats conjoined was harder than the soft cushioning you’d been accustomed to during the film but you made the sacrifice of discomfort to be closer.
“What did you think?” You asked, voice a mere whisper in his ear. As far as excuses went you could say that you were being mindful of the other patrons still in the theatre but you knew none of them cared about the credits. You were this close merely to be this close.
These were not simple like or dislike movies, they had to be dissected just so, something you had told Jojo just the other day when you were discussing the new film, and you looked forward to hearing all his opinions. He had opinions on lots of things that he liked and his emotions seemed to range from good to exciting on every rating he gave. When he talked about something in a letter or a text you could almost feel the pure adrenaline of excitement rolling off the words. It felt like everything had the potential to make him happy and, in turn, brighten your day unknowingly.
“I feel like I need to watch it over again,” Jojo commented, finally looking toward you. In the glow of the screen you could see him smiling. It seemed perpetual.
“I’m gonna need a few days to recover before then,” you commented, without thinking that he might not mean with you.
He didn’t miss a beat though, wrapping an arm around you and somehow pulling you closer to him, “Race wants to come see it on Saturday, you could come with us?”
Saturday was two days away and while you had just admitted that you needed time to process the film you thought that Friday would seem like the longest 24 hours of your life now that you knew what it was like to be with Jojo. You felt a little lightheaded by your own internal confession but you also felt like you wanted to spend every waking moment with this boy. Somehow hearing him talk and having him next to you was even better than reading what he wrote.
“Race won’t mind?” You asked. Seeing him again was definitely high on your list of things to do but sharing that time with someone else, a new person you only knew from stories, wasn’t exactly something you found yourself looking forward to.
“No, not at all.” Jojo assured, “Usually there’s a bunch of us...I wouldn’t be surprised if some of the other guys showed up too.” Everyone always tagged along to everything, not that he minded. And he felt excited about showing you off to his friends, he’d talked you up to them so much that they were all dying to meet you, maybe as much as he had been.
“Okay,” you agreed. The lights came back on as the final credit went dark and suddenly it wasn’t so hard to make out Jojo’s face. You were close enough that your noses were almost brushing and his eyes were bright as he watched you, waiting for something. “What do you want to do for now?” You only moved away from him as a theater attendant came in to clean up. You slipped your feet back into your moccasins and stood up, watching Jojo as he gathered his trash and stood as well.
“What’s open?” He asked. It was well passed 1am but neither of you wanted to say goodbye. You thought that you would much rather just stay together until it was time to go back to the theater with Race. Jojo had the same idea, he would sit on a bench outside the movies with you for the entire day if it meant you didn’t leave. Texting would not suffice the way it had before.
“Insomnia cookies is open for two more hours...and the convenience store around the block from me is open too.” You replied.
“How are they Insomnia Cookies if they close at 3am...what I want a chocolate chip cookie at 3:30 or 4?” Jojo asked, following you out back toward the front doors.
“Then hope you have leftovers,” you teased.
“There will be no survivors.” He replied, serious tone though the uptick of his lip suggested he was struggling not to smile.
Insomnia Cookies was not at all crowded at 2am and, despite never being there before, Jojo stepped right up to the counter with all the assurance of someone who knew how to order from the cookie place. He got two dozen cookies, mixed flavors and two brownies and two chocolate milks after confirming that you were vegan or lactose in tolerant. “We’ll get coffee at Queen Village.”
“They have a cat there,” you mentioned, “Cosmo. He naps around the place all day and night.” You’d gone in at midnight once for bananas and spent thirty minutes petting Cosmo and telling him how beautiful he was.
“I stopped in there once when I was in your neck of the woods.” Jojo replied, thinking that now was as good a time as any to tell you he’d been to your favorite convenience store. “I did not find Cosmo though.”
“We’ll find him.” You promised, taking the bag of cookies off the counter. Jojo beat you to paying and ignored any attempt you made at offering money.
Once Queen Village was conquered the two of you found yourselves in your apartment, sitting on your bed with the cookies spread out between you. It was too cold for city benches and being outside in the dark though you would’ve risked your health for Jojo if he’d really wanted to stay out longer. He was gushing over the cookies, enamored by the taste and claiming each one he ate was definitely his favorite.
“This has been the best day ever.” He exclaimed just before biting into a mint chocolate chip cookie that was somehow still warm.
“Watching Star Wars and eating cookies? You’ve set the bar pretty low.” You teased, reaching for an oatmeal raisin. There were white chocolate chips inside.
“Being with you.” Jojo clarified, not at all embarrassed by his feelings. If he was happy he said so and that was arguably his greatest trait. “Getting to know you has been amazing but spending today with you has been incredible. I’m so looking forward to Saturday.”
“Me too.” You replied, suddenly at ease, eager for your own admission if only to make him feel as happy as he made you, “I sort of wish we could just keep hanging out until Saturday comes around.”
“Lets.”

Summary: “I… I can’t. You’re… wild.” Is all he could say.
“So… if I wasn’t wild, if I fit the mold of what you think the perfect woman would be for you, then it would be different?”
Pairing: Tom Hiddleston x Reader
Warning: alcohol consumption, swearing, Luke being an astronomical asshole, angst with a fluffly ending
Word Count: 7000+
AN: Ello! I’m back!! I know I’ve been gone for so long (I’m sowwy), but I’ve had this in my ‘unedited’ pile for so long and I just couldn’t wait to post it. (It’s still unedited.. so... sorry.)
Thanks so much @theoneanna for pre-reading this for me and seeing if it made any sense haha! Love ya girly!
The moment she opened the door she was met with silence. The kind of silence that made her ears ring, her stomach drop and her head hurt. Though if she thought about it better, the pounding headache that she was experiencing might’ve been the result of one too many champagne glasses. Her bare feet skipped over the cold marble flooring, her expensive Louboutins forgotten by the door. Her dress slipped off her shoulder with one push, falling into a heap on the floor of her overly large kitchen. Soft locks of hair slowly fell on her shoulders as she pulled the last pin from her up-do. She searched the fridge for something that could soothe the harsh burning feeling that moved up and down her throat. Definitely too much champagne.
She made her way to her bedroom, where her king-sized bed waited for her. Her shoulders slumped as she opened the door to see the huge room bathed in soft light from the one lamp that she always kept on. She hated the dark, but she loved being alone. She told herself that it was times like these that made everything worth it. That those short moments where she was alone, were what made all the drama and gossip that came with being ‘Y/N Y/L/N’ worth it.
She threw herself onto the silk covers, relishing in the cold feeling. Sleep soon overtook her.
Her house smelled of money. Large and fancy, everything a normal person would ever dream of. It had everything she needed and more, and yet it somehow made her feel empty, because as much as she told herself that she liked being alone, the moment her eyes opened the next morning, she felt as though the walls were way too big, way too white. The bed was soft and warm where she laid, but shivers overtook her as soon as she moved an inch. Cold. Her room was pretty much empty, except for her bed and her night-stand. It felt foreign. It didn’t feel like her room, even though she knew she had bought the house with her own hard-earned money.
She felt just like her bed, cold and somehow lonely. She hated feeling lonely.
The only thing that made her feel at home was the picture that she still kept close to her, hidden under her pillow. It was old and faded, but it was the thing she held dearest. The only thing that she wouldn’t give up even if all hell broke loose or the sky fell down. She can see it before her eyes, the small smile on his face, the huge grin on hers, the reds and oranges as the sun set behind them. As soon as she pulls it out, she notices the wrinkles and the little ripped corner on the once glossy piece of paper. The reds and oranges aren’t as visible as they used to be. His eyes aren’t as blue as she remembers, but his smile is just as it was imprinted in her memories. Small and bashful, the corners of his lips pushing his cheeks up and making the skin next to his eyes wrinkle. His face looks younger, but not any less handsome than she knows it did last night.
She never imagined seeing him at one of those parties, the ones where all the so-called ‘youngsters’ and ‘trouble-makers’ were invited to. She would’ve never imagined that he would’ve showed up, even if he had been invited, but she could only assume that that one blond friend had dragged him to the celebration.
Of course, those kinds of junctions were her thing. She just loved the loud music and the smell of the alcohol. She just loved the feeling of letting go and not worrying. Who cared about the articles that would most likely pop up the next day? ‘Tom would.’ her mind told her.
She didn’t know how they had drifted so far apart. How they had become so different from each-other when they were literally two peas in a pod only years earlier.
They had met during college, through mutual friends, and they instantly clicked. For a while it was as if nothing could break them apart. They were friends, best friends even, always coming to each-other with joy and sorrow alike. For a while, she thought that he would never leave her. For a while, she imagined herself as an old lady on the porch of a small cottage with him by her side. And for a while, everything seemed to be alright.
They grew closer, long hugs becoming cuddles in the middle of the night while they whispered to each-other. The smiles they shared turned into small kisses at the top of her head, and she relished in the feeling of his lips on her hair. She loved the way his arms felt around her waist. She always felt warm and loved while he was around. So she never bothered to even wonder about what kind of relationship they had formed. It surely didn’t feel like they were friends, but she was sure that they weren’t exactly lovers.
She was young. She was stupid. She expected too much from someone who could give too little.
Tom had always had commitment issues. He was late to everywhere and everything. He would choose one book to read, only to switch to the next in less than a second. He would even have problems picking something to eat. How Y/N had been so blind to it for so long, she didn’t know. But she slowly figured it out when she started seeing him with another girl every week. Of course, it broke her heart to know that her feelings were only one-sided, and her mind and heart kicked into ‘self-preserve’ mode.
She couldn’t exactly pin-point the moment when they stopped talking to each-other, but if she were to try and put some kind of sense as to why, she would say that that’s when it started. She would try and see him less and less, at one point even walking away when she saw Tom on campus. Their cuddles turned into hugs, the kisses on her head to smiles. Their so-called relationship turned to friendship, and then to nothing.
Their lives took different turns as soon as they both graduated.
She loved and hated that picture of them, snuggled so close together with his head atop hers. It showed weakness, and weakness was something that she wouldn’t allow herself to feel anymore. Weakness had no place in her line of work, because if you showed even the least bit of it, the media would feed into it and cause a frenzy. And while she didn’t mind being seen as a ‘wild-child’, she did not like it when people thought she was weak.
So she kept her memories locked inside her mind and heart, just like that picture that was hidden behind the closed doors of her so-called home.
The moment Tom laid his eyes on her, he couldn’t believe it. The party Chris had dragged him to was in full swing, music blaring through the dark room and cigarette smoke wafting through the air. And there she stood, in the middle of it all, champagne glass held high as she whooped with the other half-drunk actors and actresses. He hadn’t seen her in ages, but she looked exactly how he remembered, young and full of life, nothing like his closed-off, tired self.
He hated himself for it, but he couldn’t exactly pin-point the moment he forgot about her. How he could’ve forgotten that warm smile and those kind eyes was beyond him, but he somehow managed to bury the memory of her far in the back of his mind.
His eyes moved over her and he could feel himself growing more and more disgusted with himself for some reason. He didn’t know why, but his stomach churned and turned as he watched her dance with one of her friends. He thought the guy was too close to her. He thought she was way too smiley and happy as she turned around to snake her hands around that assholes neck. He thought he would be a more appropriate dance partner for someone like Y/N.
“Tom? Hiddles!” Chris’s voice pulled Tom from his thoughts as his head whipped into his co-stars direction.
“Sorry. What did you say?” Tom asked, sipping on his glass that had been placed in front of him while he was too busy staring at her.
“It’s alright.” Chris chuckled. “What’s gotten you so entranced?” Tom’s eyes moved in Y/N’s direction unwillingly, allowing Chris to follow his gaze and land on the drunk woman. Chris’s eyes widened with recognition, before turning to look at his friend like he had just grown another head. Chris knew that Tom had a thing for girls that were known to mean trouble, but this was way over his head.
“Really? Y/N?” Chris asked, shaking his head. The girl had a reputation to her, and it wasn’t a good one. No, Y/N wasn’t the best for anyone’s image, and Chris knew that Tom had an image to upkeep.
“It’s nothing,” Tom said, taking another gulp from his glass. Chris sure hoped it was nothing, but he knew Tom way too well to believe him. He knew that look, and it didn’t mean anything good.
Tom thought there would be no way to meet her again. They had managed to stay out of each-others way for so long, why would now be any different?
He opened the door to his new home, headphones in his ears blasting whatever song came next on his Spotify playlist. He stretched his legs and arms before pushing off the ground and slowly building up his pace into a somewhat slow jog.
His eyes were unfocused, his mind racing with thoughts of her. She didn’t seem to notice him. Maybe she had forgotten all about him. Maybe she was as busy if not busier than him, so who could blame her for not remembering an old friend?
It was as if his body had a mind of its own, suddenly scoffing at the thought he planted in his head. An old friend. Yeah right. She hates your guts and you know it.
He could remember it clearly, the way she looked whenever he would show up on campus with a new girl. He knew he was breaking her heart. He knew her feelings, and he knew his feelings, but didn’t do anything about it. She was too wild for him, even back then. He was so sure that there was no way in hell that whatever she wanted to start would end well. So he did what he did best and ended it before it even started.
His mind raced on and on, and soon he was tripping and on his way to have a not-so-comfortable meeting with the ground. A hand grasped his and he was pulled in the other direction, only to have the other person fall on their ass with an ‘Oomph’.
“God, I’m so sorry! Are you alright?” Tom asked, only to be met with a pair of Y/E/C eyes.
Y/N and Tom stayed in that position, him crouching over her.
Her eyes studied his face. His eyes as wide as saucers, mouth dropped open in a small ‘o’. She couldn’t stop the giggle that fell from her lips. “Are you going to help me stand, or…?”
His face unfroze at the sound of her voice. It seemed so long since he last heard it, but it still made him feel exhilarated. His lips pulled into a smile and he offered her his hand, pulling her on her feet easily. She hissed as her left foot made contact with the floor, and worry was once again etched on his features.
“Are you okay? Should I take you to the hospital? Wait… I’ll call an ambulance.” One hand was holding her, his other already in his pocket, fishing for his phone when she once again giggled.
“Ever the worrisome one, huh Hiddleston?” Y/N shook her head, remembering all the times he had nursed her back to health after a night of college partying.
His eyes fell back on her figure, and he couldn’t help but scoff. “One of us has to be, Y/L/N,” he said, sarcasm dripping from his every word.
They both fell silent. Y/N had always imagined what she would say to him when and if they would ever meet again. But now all of those speeches were forgotten - words caught in her throat, unwilling to make their way past her lips. She just watched Tom, he watched her and all of a sudden they both fell into a chuckle. Then that chuckle turned to laughter and it all seemed to fall back to when they were in college. They both felt like those two fools who didn’t know anything about anything and just had each-other as a back-up.
“You want to go get tea?” he asked.
Her lips pulled into a tight line. Tea with none other than Tom Hiddleston meant more publicity: good for her, bad for him. And as much as she wanted to say yes, she couldn’t. “I don’t think that’s a great idea…”
Y/N expected him to nod, to understand where she was coming from – that she wasn’t good company. But Tom only watched as her eyes fell to the ground. He shook his head. “Let’s go,” he said, startling her into walking with him.
And they walked and talked about all the time they had lost. Tom could see her clearer now, clearer than how he had seen her last night. Her eyes sparkled in the morning light, just like he remembered, but they seemed tired. Tired and somehow lost. He remembers how she used to look at him, with love and adoration. Now she seemed to want to look anywhere but at him. Her eyes wandered through the café, lingering on everything and everyone but him. It annoyed him to no ends, but he knew that he was to blame.
“So I heard about the Loki series. Congratulations.” She smiled as she dared a look at him, her eyes as careful as the sip she took from her steaming cup of tea.
“Thank you, but honestly it’s nothing compared to you. I heard they’re planning another sequel to your movie,” he grinned, “How many has it been now? Three? Four?”
“Actually,” she stopped for a second, sighing tiredly, “I won’t be acting in this one.”
His eyes widened, mind unable to comprehend why she would let such an opportunity go. “I understand if you don’t want to tell me, but why not?”
She shook her head. “I just… felt trapped in that role. I’ve been wanting to try something else and this movie wouldn’t allow for that. I would be playing the same scared heroine waiting for her man to come and save her, and I…” I don’t want to wait for someone to come a swoop me off my feet. “I got bored.”
“Oh…” Tom answered, shaking his head and chuckling slightly.
“What?” she asked.
“It’s just, that’s how you’ve always been. Always so strong and… how do I put it… decided?” He winced at how wrong that sounded.
“You mean hot-headed?” She smirked.
Tom bit his lip, nodding slightly in understanding. Hot-headed suited her. Always walking head first into a situation and worrying about the consequences later. She simply didn’t care about the future, always choosing to live in the present and deal with trouble wherever it came from. “Yeah… hot-headed.”
“I’ll take that as a compliment, Mr. I’m-too-careful-for-my-own-good.”
“Hey!”
“What?! It’s the truth!” She shrugged.
“Yeah…”
Thick silence enveloped them, making her feel awfully awkward as she stared down at her lap. Maybe it wasn’t her place anymore to make those jokes. Maybe she had gone one step too far, or one step too little. It felt like they were in college while they were talking, just two friends catching up and messing around, but maybe it wasn’t like that anymore. It was clear that they weren’t as comfortable with each-other as they used to be.
Tom didn’t know what to think or what to say. She was right there. She sat in front of him and he simply couldn’t find the words. Should he be sorry for what happened during college? Should he regret pushing her away? He knew he shouldn’t, it had been the right thing do to. Right?
After a week, Tom wasn’t so sure of himself anymore. He wasn’t sure about anything he did anymore. Everything seemed so fake and forced. He slowly felt like he was being, simply put, a phony.
Except when he was around her.
They both knew that it was a bit awkward when they were both in the same room, but it slowly dissipated. He didn’t have to think about what would be the proper thing to say or do when she was around, because she knew him. He knew she knew him, the real him that wasn’t always a polite gentleman. She knew the guy that liked to mess around. The guy who wasn’t always perfect. The guy who wasn’t a “celebrity”. And he knew the girl that she used to be, and still was, but as they met more and more often, she seemed to get more and more lively. She seemed to care even less about reputation and more about the guy who was her friend.
What Tom didn’t expect was how fast his heart was beating every time she hugged or just simply touched him. He didn’t expect to see her with the same eyes that his college self used to. It was like all he had worked so hard to ignore for so long just simply rushed back with a touch of her fingers and a look in his eyes.
He didn’t expect that to happen. And he sure as hell hadn’t planned for it, but now that dreaded feeling was there and he couldn’t get a grip on himself.
“Have you seen this?” Luke entered Tom’s office, throwing a magazine in front of him with a huff.
“It’s good to see you too, Luke,” Tom joked with a light chuckle, not even glancing at what he knew to be another scandal, caused most likely by his late-night drive to a bar with Y/N and Chris.
“Yeah, yeah… Good to see you yada, yada… Now, have you seen this?” Luke placed both hands on Tom’s desk, his face something between a scowl and a look of disappointment.
Tom glanced down and sure as hell, there it was in big bold letters: ‘Eligible bachelor Tom Hiddleston not as eligible as we might have thought?’ A picture of him and Y/N doing shots by the bar was plastered all over the front page. “Yeah, I’ve seen it. What’s wrong with it?” Tom asked.
“What’s wrong with it?!” Luke yelped, trying to control his anger, “Tom, they’re saying that you have an alcohol problem! They’re saying that you’re dating that… that mess, Y/N!” Tom glared up at Luke from where he was still seated, not having it when his publicist talked bad about his friend. But Luke wasn’t having it. “Do you have any idea what she could do to your reputation? She could ruin you in a matter of seconds!” Luke snapped his fingers, as if that would make everything clearer in Tom’s mind. “Like that.” Snap. “And your career and fans would be gone.”
Now, that sentence scared Tom, but not in the way that Luke had meant it. He wasn’t scared of losing acting jobs, because to him those jobs were just that, jobs. He had lost his passion for acting long ago and was doing it because… Why was he still doing it? He didn’t know. Y/N wouldn’t even bother doing something if she wasn’t passionate about it anymore. He shook his head.
Tom wasn’t scared of losing his fans either, because he knew that they were the strongest and most passionate ones out there. Maybe that’s why he was still doing this, for the fans. He was passionate about them, not wanting to disappoint or fail them. Y/N would care about that. He nodded.
Luke watched baffled as Tom was having a discussion with himself, it was clear that the man was slowly going crazy over this girl. “Look, you know I usually don’t care much about who your newest… acquisition is, as long as you keep it private,” Luke sighed, “But this,” he pointed to the magazine laid in front of Tom, “this is not good for you Tom.”
Tom stood up, already annoyed to no ends by the way Luke spoke of him. His newest acquisition? Y/N was not something that he could just… acquire, as much as he wished he could. He had burned that bridge long ago. “Okay Luke, I get it.” Tom sighed.
“No, Tom. You don’t! She’s always seen drunk! She yells at the paparazzi!” Luke said, exasperated. “She might look good, but she doesn’t care about her image.”
That’s exactly why I like her.
“She’s always seen with a new guy! Every damn week! She’s changing you Tom, and it’s not for the better!” Luke finished his monologue, chest heaving and breathing loud. He watched as Tom’s eyes slowly lifted from the magazine, the heartbreak as clear in his eyes as the color of his irises.
“Ok, Luke… I get it. She’s fucked up. She’s emotionally deranged. She’s a whore,” Tom said, eyes angry. “I’ll take care of this, but get out of here before I throw you out,” he snarled.
Luke walked out the door with a sigh, closing it, not expecting what was behind it. She stood there, eyes wild and angry. Y/N shook her head as he scoffed at her, passing by as she simply stuck a foot out, tripping him. Luke fell flat on his stomach, his hands not reacting quickly enough as his nose hit the ground. She knew it was childish. She knew it was just another scandal waiting to happen. She didn’t care.
“You fucking manipulative son of a bitch,” she snarled, shaking her head and walking away from the whole ordeal. Walking away from the building that she now knew as well as the back of her hand. Walking away from two assholes that obviously hit it off just a little too well.
Fucking jackass.
The moment she opened the door she was met with silence. The kind of silence that made her ears ring, her stomach drop and her head hurt. Though if she thought about it better, the pounding headache that she was experiencing might’ve been the result of one too many tears. Her bare feet skipped over the cold marble flooring, her Nikes forgotten by the door. His jacket slipped off her shoulders with one push, falling into a heap on the floor of her overly large kitchen. Soft locks of hair slowly fell on her face as she braced the marble countertop, eyes looking directly to her feet. Her throat itched with the dryness brought by another ridiculously heart-broken cry. She could see the small droplets of water that had made their way from her eyes to the floor. Definitely too many tears.
She made her way to door, a knock pulling her out of her misery, only to be pulled right back in as she saw who was the one knocking.
“What do you want, Hiddleston?” Y/N asked, looking anywhere but at him.
Tom watched as she rubbed the tears away from her face, his face falling instead. “Love, what happened?” He had come here with the decision of telling her that they couldn’t meet anymore, but that was all thrown out of the window as worry for the girl fogged his mind. He hadn’t seen her cry since college.
She looked up at him, lower lip trembling and eyes filling with tears once again. “You wanna know what’s wrong?” she asked and he nodded. “I fucking trusted you! I trusted you to believe in who I am and to not judge me like so many others! I trusted you to not talk behind my back!” She took a deep breath, her chest feeling as though it was being ripped apart. “You wanna know what’s wrong?” Her voice was but a whisper. “I’m fucked up. I’m emotionally deranged. And apparently a whore!”
Tom’s eyes widened. He was the reason she looked so broken. He was, once again the reason why she cried. “I… I…” He had no excuse. He had said all those things. He couldn’t blame it on Luke, it was his mouth that those words had come out of.
“You what, Tom? You’re sorry? You didn’t seem to be sorry back there!” She sniffled, walking backwards as he stepped in and closed the door. “Ever the careful one, huh Hiddleston? Are you scared that they’re gonna see me make a scene? Are you scared that you’ll end up in tomorrow’s gossip magazine? Are you scared that your good name will be tarnished?!” Her voice got louder and louder, her mind racing. “You’re such a fake! Your image is fake! The way you act towards me is fake! Is there anything even remotely true about you anymore?” She sighed. “And to think that I fucking fell for it again. I can’t fucking believe that I’m reliving college right now.”
Tom just stood and took it all in. All her anger and her spiteful words, they hurt, but what hurt most is that she thought he was being fake when he was around her, the only time when he actually felt like himself. “You… you what?” he asked, reaching a hand out to her.
She glared at his hand angrily before slapping it away with a loud smack. “You fucking heard me! I loved you back then! And now I love a fake! God… I’m in love with a phony… I fell for it just like everybody else.” Y/N shook her head, as if not believing the words that just came out of her mouth. “This is just like last time…”
Tom watched her, expression full of surprise and anger. He couldn’t believe it. “You were the one who put space between us! You’re the one who walked away!”
“And what was I supposed to do? Huh, Tom?!” She let the tears flow freely down her face this time, not bothering to stop them. “Stay and watch my heart break as you walked around with another girl?! Did you expect me to do that?! Don’t put all the blame on me, you’re just as much to blame.”
“You… you didn’t say anything…” Tom was astounded by how she put everything out there. She would never have the courage to do that, were they still in college.
“You know… back then I thought that we… I don’t know… understood each-other. I thought you needed me as much as I needed you. I thought that maybe I meant something to you…” Her voice was void of anger, her eyes just seemed sad. “I thought that maybe you would at least try to follow me when I left… But no, of course not!” She scoffed. “As soon as I stopped putting effort towards whatever it was that we had, you stopped caring…”
Tom watched as her body shuddered with every gasp of air that she took. He had broken her. This was what he was scared of… that one of them would break the other. “Of-of course I would… I thought you didn’t care about me anymore. I thought you gave up.”
Her eyes suddenly filled with rage. “Oh I cared! Don’t fucking say I didn’t! I tried and tried but you just didn’t see me!” He couldn’t look at her anymore. It was too hard. “I thought I was stupid to just leave before I said anything about… about my feelings.” A sickeningly broken laugh fell from her lips, the sound making Tom’s skin crawl. “You were stupid,” Tom whispered. He couldn’t help but think that maybe things would’ve gone differently if she had said something back then. Maybe they wouldn’t have been in this position. Or maybe he would’ve just done what he did back then, because that was for the best, right? He didn’t know anymore. His mind was all over the place.
Y/N didn’t hear his whisper, she had no reason to question herself. “But look at me now! Feelings spoken out and still in the same position as I was seven years ago. Still stupid. Still fucking in love with an asshat that won’t even dare try because he’s too afraid.”
“I… I can’t. You’re… wild.” Is all he could say.
“So… if I wasn’t wild, if I fit the mold of what you think the perfect woman would be for you, then it would be different?”
“I… I… no. I can’t return your feelings,” Tom said, his eyes stuck counting the lines in the marble flooring.
“Why?” she asked.
“Because… it would be bad for my image.”
Her breath hitched as he simply contradicted himself. He couldn’t because she was wild, but if she were different then he still didn’t return her feeling because she was bad for his image. They were going in a loop, a broken record playing on repeat again and again and again. He wouldn’t tell her anything. He wouldn’t let her in.
“Okay… I get it. I’m wild and I’m reckless and I’m stupid,” her words caught in her throat, but she forced them out. He needed to hear this. She needed to tell him this or else she would go blaming herself again. “But at least I’m not afraid to show who I really am, at least to the people who obviously care about me! At least I’m not afraid of those fake scandals or the bullshit because whatever happens, I still know who I am! The people I care about know who I am!” she sighed, trying her best to calm herself down, “I thought you knew that too. I thought you were one of those people, Tom. But you aren’t. You’d rather believe your goddamn publicist or what those damn assholes write about me. And you know what? That’s fine by me.” Her eyes cleared and she finally saw it. He looked at her like he was broken. Just as broken as she was, but that wasn’t going to stop her. She would burn this bridge, whether he wanted to or not. “Just… remember. I’m not the one who was afraid. You were.” She stabbed her finger in his chest, looking up at him. “Leave.” Don’t go. Fight. For once, fight. She could feel the burn as he turned around and walked out of the front door. He had made his choice.
He could feel it all, the anger, the disappointment, but most of all he felt the last bridge burn. She had said all that was to be said. She didn’t want anything to do with him anymore.
He nursed the glass of whiskey in his hand, feeling foreign in the bar that had become their hang-out.
“What are you doing here?” Chris’s voice came out of nowhere, startling the half-drunk Tom to the point that he almost fell off his bar-stool.
“Nothing,” Tom said, finishing his tenth glass with a tip of his chin.
Chris noticed the bad state Tom was in, he had a feeling why it was happening.
“Where’s Y/N?” he asked.
“Gone,” Tom answered with a hiss, as though the word itself was a knife stuck in his chest.
“Why?”
“Because that’s what I wanted.”
Chris’s mouth dropped open so wide that he could’ve been mistaken for the screamer. Tom would’ve found it funny, but he wasn’t exactly in the mood for laughing.
“What?! Why?”
“She was changing me… and I…” Tom whimpered slightly at the words, “I couldn’t allow for that to happen.”
“Oh…” Chris finally took a seat next to his friend, motioning for the bartender to get him a drink. “And she just… gave up?”
“She said she loves me. She told me she was in love with me ever since college. I…” Tom shook his head, “I can’t return those feelings.”
Chris laughed. He laughed as though that was the funniest joke he had heard in years. Tom watched him, simply waiting for him to finish so he could get an explanation.
“You’re either the most idiotic guy I know, or you’re terribly blind, mate.” Tom watched Chris with a questioning gaze, eyes slightly glazed over from how much alcohol was in his system. If only Luke would see him now. “Tom, Y/N… she apparently went through a lot with you. You broke her heart once and she still tired. She’s the one girl that didn’t leave you. The only girl that tried to help you. The only girl that would never break your heart unless you asked her to… sorry mate, but you fucked everything up.”
“She changed me,” Tom stated simply.
“No… she didn’t. You were the one who let loose. You were the one who didn’t put on a face for the press. You were the one who didn’t give two shits and giggles anymore. Sure, she was around you, but you were the one who made those changes. You were the one who changed. Was it all for her?”
No. I was tired. I was tired of hiding.
“No! It was for yourself! Whenever she was around you were like a different man, and I think that that’s who the real Tom is. Not that proper, British ass that wouldn’t let anyone get too close to him.”
“I… I couldn’t tell her that…” I love her. The words just couldn’t form on his lips. “I didn’t want to hurt her. I just… it would end badly.”
“Couldn’t? Or wouldn’t, Tom?” Chris asked, taking a sip from his glass. When Tom didn’t answer, he answered for him. “It’s clear that you love the girl! She loves you! Who the hell cares about ‘if’s and ‘maybe’s? Now go do something about it! Don’t fucking mess this up a third time or I swear to God I’ll kick your ass all the way back to England.”
Tom stood up, eyes widening. Chris was right. He… He loved her. He was in fucking love with her and he just couldn’t fucking get over it. It scared him shitless but he couldn’t stop. He didn’t want to stop. He didn’t want to be scared anymore.
He shoved his hand into his pocket and pulled out a hundred dollar bill, slamming it on the bar. “I have to go. Thanks, mate!” Tom yelled to Chris as he ran towards the exit. It was quiet and far away, but he was sure that he heard Chris say “Whatever man, I expect to get an invitation to the wedding.”
Y/N was sure that she hated feeling lonely, because if she felt lonely then it meant that she was weak. She hated being weak, but as the days past she wanted nothing to do with her friends or the parties they invited her to. She never thought it would be easy, but God was it hard getting over the one guy who she had managed to fall in love with, twice.
Her closed phone laid on her nightstand, the battery long dead since she hadn’t bothered charging it. She hated herself for it, but right now she loved the feeling of loneliness. Sleep soon overtook her.
Her doorbell rang, jolting her out of her light sleep. She looked at the watch, noticing it was three in the morning. With a jolt and a rapidly beating heart, she made her way to the door. She looked at the display that showed her doorstep, seeing him. Her heart and mind stopped racing, but her hand moved on its own accord, opening the door.
Tom sighed watching as she looked at him with tired eyes. Her hair was a mess and she lacked pants, but he could only think that she looked the most gorgeous he had ever seen, one of his shirts hanging loosely from her shoulders.
“Y/N, thank God,” he slurred.
“What are you doing here, Tom?” she asked. She could pick up the light scent of whiskey drifting towards her from him, her nose wrinkled in disgust. She couldn’t even think about ever drinking another drop of alcohol, since it felt like it was the reason for him not reciprocating her feelings.
“Thank God you’re okay. I was so scared.”
Y/N’s eyebrows shifted together into a small frown. “Why wouldn’t I be okay?”
He watched her with happy, glossy eyes. He was just happy to see her, even though her words still made his heart heavy, even in his inebriated state. “I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. I was such an idiot. I pushed you away, thinking that it would spare us. Thinking that that way I wouldn’t lose you. Guess I was the stupid one though, since in the end I still lost you.” Once the words started running out of his mouth, he couldn’t stop. He was vomiting every last bit of his feelings, finally letting her in. “I… I love you. Fuck… I’m so in love with you that I don’t know what to do with myself.”
To say that she was taken by surprise by his words would be an understatement. She was shocked, astonished even, but happiness slowly crept its way in her heart, until “What about your “image”? Aren’t you scared that they would say that your girlfriend’s fucked up? Emotionally deranged? Wouldn’t they say that you’re dating a whore?” she asked with a hiss to the tone of her voice.
Tom squeezed his eyes together. “I’m sorry about that. I could say that Luke kind of coerced those words out of me, but I still said them. I was just… scared. I knew I had fallen for you, again, and I didn’t think you would feel the same. I guess… I was just trying to find a way to stop myself from hurting… But please believe me when I say that I never wanted to hurt you. I never meant for any of this to happen. I was an asshole, a jackass, a fucking idiot. But I love…”
Her lips caught his words as they pressed harshly against his, the kiss seven years in waiting. She didn’t care anymore. She didn’t care that he was drunk. She didn’t care about what he had said, she knew from the beginning that he didn’t mean it. She knew that he loved her just as much as she loved him.
He was caught by surprise by the force behind the kiss, lightly stumbling backwards before he steadied himself as his arms wrapped around her frame. God, this felt so right. His hands cupped her cheeks, pulling her closer, deepening the kiss. She tasted like candy, mixed with the whiskey that he had drunk. There was nothing more delicious than the bitter sweetness they shared. She wrapped her hands around his shoulders, pushing herself on her toes, trying to mold herself into him. They were still on her porch, but neither of them cared. That moment was perfect, even when they pulled away and their breaths mingled.
“You’ve got bed-head,” Tom snickered.
“You’ve got whiskey-breath,” Y/N smirked.
“You’re wearing my shirt.”
“It’s laundry day.”
“You’re lying.”
“I am.”
“I love you.”
“I love you too.”
The paparazzi might’ve gotten pictures of them, both looking like literal messes. There might be a scandal the next day, but they didn’t care. They had each-other, and once again Y/N didn’t bother asking what they were, because she knew. She was his and he was hers.

My 20 Year Old Idol Husband - Day 17 - Don’t Leave Me
20 yr old Jungkook, at the top of his idol boyband career, has a secret only he & his bandmates know – An underground relationship, with you, a girl he met at a fanmeeting. Things get a little out of hand and you find out you’re pregnant.
Read: Day 1 / Day 2 / Day 3 / Day 4 / Day 5 / Day 6 / Day 7 / Day 8 / Day 9 / Day 10 / Day 11 / Day 12 / Day 13 / Day 14 / Day 15 / Day 16 / Day 17
[Back in the dorm]
"YAH! Jung Hoseok!" Jin's shrill scream traveled through the kitchen and into the living room where the younger floppy haired boy was playing with Taehyung's puppy.
Startled, he jumped up from his seat, dog in hand. "WAE WAE WAE?" he asked, briskly walking over in large exaggerated strides.
Jin looked at the table of dishes and noticed a piece of meat missing from the top. With his long chopsticks, he waved at the meat valley created by it. "You picked a piece didn't you?"
With a horrified expression, he raised an arm in fluster pointing at the living room, "Hyung! I was there the whole time! It's not me!"
Jin rested his arms on his hips, frowning in annoyance. "There's no one else at home except the both of us."
"But why hyung... it's gonna get eaten at the end of the day anyway so what's the big problem right?" The loud younger boy smiled cheekily as he reached for his phone to snap a photo of the sumptuous spread before them. "Gonna send this pic and you'll see them rush back in no time."
At once, when the photo was sent, a door opened from down the hallway. Both Jin and Hoseok looked up at each other immediately, realising it was the 2 scaredy cowards who were left in the house. "Hyung! I thought you said no one else was back?" he whispered.
With eyes glued to the hallway, a sleepy boy dragging his feet emerged from the room.
"Yah, Taehyung-ah, you scared us! Were you always in the room for the whole time?" Jin asked, still wondering if he was the culprit of the missing meat.
He rubbed his beady eyes, "No, I got back awhile ago but none of you responded to me when I walked by so I just went to take a nap."
Hoseok returned the puppy into his hands and asked quickly, "the meat tastes good yea?"
"What meat? I came out because I saw dinner's finally ready." Asked Tae.
There stood 3 frozen boys, wondering if there were more of them in the dorm that had grown larger than they could keep their eyes on.
Tae didn't quite get it but it didn't matter to him. "O...K... Let's just... eat? Where's Chae-rin?"
----------
[At the studio]
Jungkook was a smiley mess having you surprise him at work. He knew work was going to get busy soon and he desperately wanted to spend more time with you, help you settle in and figure out a solution to keep you close to him. He knew it wasn't going to be possible to take you with him everywhere but leaving you alone in the dorm while he worked overseas wasn't exactly what he wanted.
"Jungkook?" You called out to him while he was deep in thought. "What's the matter?"
He shook his head, looking between his schedule and you. "I'm just wondering how to keep you in my bag while we travel."
"What?!"
With a laugh and slight sigh, he sunk down into his expensive swivel chair.
"I want you to come with me everywhere, be it here, overseas, or just... I don't know, I just don't want you out of my sight." With a forlorn expression, he reached out to caress your back, sliding his hand to catch your palm in his.
"But..." he continued, "I know it's not possible."
You smile a little at him, "I was joking about following you abroad, don't worry. I'm a grown up and I can take care of myself - and cope with you being away for a week or two? We've been through that and more haven't we?"
At times like these, you felt like he was such a baby and it wasn't that you wanted to mother him, but you couldn't help but try to talk sense into him when he was into that mode. You knew he was just being honest with his feelings and that was something you liked about him - he always spoke his mind, and it was hard to get angry with his pure honesty.
"Anyway, I came with Yoongi-oppa, we should get going. There's dinner waiting."
At the thought of his food, Jungkook's bright eyes widened and he sprang up from his chair in glee - "Oh yes! Jin-hyung! Let's get Namjoonie-hyung and go."
As the boys gather themselves and take you with them, you notice fans at the entrance of the building. Even though they were heading to the basement car park, openly, in glass elevators, you couldn't help but feel self-conscious as if you were going to get caught for doing something illegal.
"Do fans find you at the dorms?" you ask out of curiosity, keeping your eyes on the girls camped out along the road with cameras.
"Hmm, now that we've moved into a higher security area, it's only those who probably live within the compound but they don't really pose a threat. They don't know exactly which unit we're at." The leader spoke calmly, assessing your question. "Are you concerned? You don't have to be, at least not when we are together in a group like this."
Jungkook in a hurry came out of the studio without a mask or hood and as he turned around to look out of the elevator, eagle-eyed fans spotted his face as they began standing up and waving. Some began to rush to the entrance only to be stopped by security.
Quickly the doors opened at the basement and some screams were heard from a distance. Having 4 taller boys obstruct your view made you wonder just how near or far these fans were and if they were even able to catch a glimpse of their favourite stars after camping out there for goodness-knows-how-long.
They strolled to the car like an everyday affair, while Namjoon put on his sunglasses out of habit. It was almost like the screams were his cue to wear them.
"Jungkook-ah, you should pull down the shades later at the rear before we drive out, got it?" reminded Yoongi, as he started the engine of his car with heavily darkened windows. "Those floodlights fans have nowadays are almost X-ray vision - I'm sure they'll catch snaps of Chae-rin even though my glass is almost blacked out."
True enough, as he drove out, some fans were already waiting at the exit with their long lenses, and they knew his car by the number, waving and shooting flashes at them.
"I want to wave but, they don't even know I'm inside." said Namjoon as he pressed his face close to the glass, observing the behavior of his fans.
You scooted closer to Jungkook at the backseat and lowered yourself, just in case.
"Those lights and screams are quite scary huh?"He smirked. "They're really quite something."
You sensed the pride in his voice and the love for the fans.
"You should just wind down the window and tell them to make their way home." You said, unsure if it was out of worry for the fans or jealousy on your part.
"Shall I?" Jungkook asked, his hand on the button.
"NO!!" came a resounding scream from his older brothers, followed by a stare from Yoongi through the mirror.
"Chae-rin ah, I didn't take you here to put our lives in danger, you should know better than that?" He half-chided in a nasal tone that was gentle yet annoyed.
You could only laugh with Jungkook silently as he quickly pacified his older brothers and talked about other things all the way home.
When the boys had all gathered, it was a spread of comfort food and apparently Jin hadn't cooked in many months so it was quite a grand affair that got everyone together at the table.
"Jimin-ah," you called out to him as he wondered where he should sit, being last to join as usual. You waved him to sit beside you and he gladly obliged. He had just come home straight from a shoot, with full makeup, suit and all. You saw him this way countless of times ever since your first encounter with him and the boys but you knew for as long as you had female hormones, there was no way you would ever get used to seeing him looking like a million bucks and not stare.
Although he was smiling, he seemed a little troubled. The rest of the boys however, were more interested in the food than their smiley brother.
"Had a long day?" You asked as he started tugging off his blazer and rolling up his sleeves.
He greeted you warmly, "Nah... I'm doing good. So what did you do today?" He casually poured himself a drink while you told him about what you did and the bits of stuff that happened.
"Aaah, Kookie's studio? You went to the company?" He gave a knowing nod, "that child's got alot of work up his sleeves lately... he's gonna get busy."
Jungkook finally snapped out of his gluttony and turned the other way to see Jimin and you conversing in low tones.
"What you guys talking about?" he asked with a mouth full of rice.
Jokingly, Jimin hushed you down, "don't let him hear us talking about him!"
"Aaah HYUNG!!" he frowned at Jimin, almost whining, making the older boy break into an eye-smile, obviously unable to resist the cuteness of an annoyed Jungkook.
"Arraseo... I was just joking around with her. Anyway, did you hear about the schedule next week?" Almost at once, his face turned serious as he brought up the plans for work.
Jungkook pondered for a moment as he swallowed his food, "I know the dates and that we're going to record some stuff, why? Did the schedule change?"
Jimin looked around, wondering if he should get the attention of the older brothers and caught sight of Jin who was also chewing his food in a daze.
"Jin-hyung," he called out across the long table, "about the schedule next week, have you heard any updates?"
His voice got the attention of his brothers as they all turned to him to listen.
"No, why? The last I saw, it was a schedule for about a week to Japan and that's all."
Jimin put down his chopsticks and cleared his throat, "actually... I just heard it today from our stylist noona... it seems we will be travelling out from there to a few other shoots this time and might not return for 3 weeks."
Silently, he turned to look at you and Jungkook, while the rest of the boys kept still.
"Oh." You replied, "that sucks for me huh."
At once, your blatantly honest response got them all laughing - all except for Jungkook, who's mind was travelling at lightspeed to think of a solution.
Jimin sighed, "I'm not sure yet because these things usually get told to us quite last minute and I overheard this, so we need to confirm it first."
The night went by and you got tired quickly, heading off to bed while the boys showered and chilled out on their own. It was, afterall, a long and eventful second day for you in their dorm.
Just when you were almost falling asleep on Jungkook's bed, he crept in and knelt beside you, careful not to wake you up but his scent that whiffed past was too alluring that made the corners of your mouth twitch into a smile.
"Why are you smiling?" he whispered, making you open your eyes to see his face inches away from you.
"Because of you?" you whispered back and he came closer to nuzzle his nose against yours cutely. "I'm sleepy, Jungkook... It's the hormones..." you mumbled as your heavy lids shut again.
"I know... I'll be here until you fall asleep..."
That was the last thing you heard before you felt a blanket gently cover you, and your senses were completely taken over by your dreams.
-----------
"Jimin-ah, are you sure about it?" Namjoon asked as he strolled into the living area where the younger boy was sprawled out on the sofa with Taehyung. Propping himself up with one hand, he met the serious eyes of the leader.
"I think it's 90% going to happen this way. What should we do?"
As they all sat around, they were joined by Jin and Yoongi who were also trying to think of a way out for Jungkook and yourself.
In a low and eloquent manner of speech, he began. "Firstly, Jungkook's got to be mentally prepared - I don't think he was expecting this. Then Chae-rin needs to be able to move in and out freely without us, especially to the clinic. Alot could happen in 3 weeks."
Yoongi frowned, "couldn't she just come with us?"
"What?" Jin frowned back at him, "how?"
He crossed his arms and went into his deep thinking mode, furrowing his brows as they waited for his genius to spark.
Hoseok, who had been thinking about it in his room, emerged as he heard the content of the chatter.
"He's right - she could come with us. She just needs to be part of the staff, isn't that what you meant hyung?"
Jimin clapped his hands together in realisation. "Aaahhh.. That's right, why didn't I think of that!!"
Namjoon stood up, a smile on his face.
"That settles it then. I'll speak to the company tomorrow and guys, let's keep this from Jungkook."

~after what seems to be years of you going through the same day, never growing old, never seeing a new day, you lose hope you'll find that little mistake that the universe has seen so important. You start to go through the passing, repetitive days causing chaos, and being a douche throughout the office, just to wind up back in your chair, everything back to normal.
By now, it's been getting to you. You've snapped before. Cussed out the world, broke things, been a dick to those around you. But eventually it passed and fear crept in. But this time, you know you may never get out of it. You just start doing random things around the office to maybe find something. Nothing.
You decide, 'Thats it. I'm stuck here. And I have no where else to go from here.'
You wake up at your desk again, tempted to see if suicide will end it. Or if you'll hear the rope snap and you'll wake up again in a cold sweat like what you just experienced was a nightmare. Rather, you just start going around the office, befriending everyone. Talking about life, politics, space, the endlessness of time, etc. Days go by again, you just talking to random people thought through out the office. Avoiding one person. Jennifer. The new assistant. You thought she was pretty from day one, but never really had a conversation with her.
"What the hell do I have to lose?" You think aloud over the same cup of coffee.
You approach her, quite nervously and try to boot up a conversation, but crash and burn. She smiles and laughs at your obvious frustration and awkwardness. You decide to go sit down and just save yourself the embarrassment, even if it won't matter in a few hours.
A few minutes pass and she approaches you, with your back turned she taps your shoulder and you drop your coffee, terrified. You'd thought you'd learned all the schedules of the people around the office, so you immediately turn quickly in surprise.
She gives a small smile and extends her hand to shake yours, "I'm Jenny. Well.. Jennifer. But you can call me Jenny."
Your heart and ears melt, as she has the most beautiful voice you've ever heard. Your arm extends on autopilot mode and you shake hers. "I'm Linus. Well.. Linus. But you can call me Linus."
You hear the words come out of your mouth and you wished the universe would set you back right now. Your face heats up immediately and you see her smile grow in slow motion.
But she giggled.
She calls you funny and asks for lunch, and you, with nothing to lose, decide to go for it.
So you go to lunch. And you have a blast. You laugh and you talk, and you get oddly personal but feel no shame as she seemed like she cared and talked back and just made you happy.
You return from your lunch with Jenny and go back to work, star struck from the day you've had. But as soon as you realize how much you loved that, you sooner realize she won't remember any if it. So you go through your day, giving her little smiles and she returns them with that angelic smile of hers that melts you.
She clocks out, comes to tell you goodbye and slides you a piece if paper with her number and you smile and pocket it, knowing it won't be there when you wake up. You tell her goodbye and try to savor the memory.
You wait a few minutes, blankly staring at your computer, just to internalize.
You step outside and walk home. Fall asleep in your bed, still replaying the day like a VHS tape. As you close your eyes you accept the passed day and sleep.
Your alarm doesn't go off. You wake up late and panic. You run and get cleaned up, put together your outfit and put on your shoes, then stop in front of your mirror. It's a new day. And the paper is still in your pocket. You take it out, unfold it and smile as you see the 10 digits on the paper with a small smiley face at the end. You tuck it in your wallet and you make your way to work with a grin.
Whenever you make a mistake in your life, the universe automatically makes you go back to the same day to revert it. On a seemingly boring office day, you wake up to find yourself on the same day again.

VainGlory (For iOS and Android) Made By Riot And Blizzard Devs - Amazing
Debut Date: 2015 Developer: SuperEvilMegaCorp Official Website: VainGlory Game Official Youtube: VainGlory
Platform: Mobile - iOS / Android Free To Play (In App Purchases *NOT Pay To Win)
Google Play (4.5 stars)
Itunes (4 stars)
Amazon Appstore (4 stars)
Genre: MOBA (Multiplayer Online Battle Arena) / MMO / PVP Strategy Updates: Frequent (Every Week) Current Patch 2.1
What happens when Riot (League of Legends) and Blizzard (Diablo, Heroes of the Storm) developers collaborate and pour their passion for the fight into a compact, take wherever you want, mobile app? Awesome sauce and fanboy splooge. But no, really, it is pretty awesome. Now going on its second competitive season, VainGlory, launched in 2015, is at the top of its game (no pun intended) when it comes to MOBA games on little screens (unless you’re playing on a big ass IPad.) Now with a competitive scene with familiar contenders like Cloud 9 and Team SoloMid taking it by storm.
Graphics are innovative and reminiscent of games like Starcraft and World of Warcraft while it’s evident the devs put a lot of thought behind gameplay and player interaction, just as much thought was put into the actual design of the characters, their backgrounds and personalities, which also helped develop this mobile gem’s great fan base / community.
Even a die-hard LoL fan would have to admit that the story development behind each character needed more work and it’s refreshing to see that VainGlory started out with a solid foundation in that regard. Not to mention, everyone that plays the game starts out on even footing.
The devs added a library of tutorial videos, explanations, guides, and spotlights available right off the homepage (and you get rewarded for watching them sometimes!) which lets all players, regardless of your experience playing a MOBA, start off with the same basic knowledge. No random mechanically-based-but-not-anything-like-the-game type tutorials to be found here.
Why I Like It:
(GirlvsGame is in no way affiliated with VainGlory or SuperEvilMegaCorp. All information is a matter of opinion and should not be representative of any other person or organization because I’m dumb.) /fineprint
3v3 Matches Are Better Than 5v5 (IMO)
One of the major problems that (I feel) mobile games that fit into the MOBA genre face is the fact that people just don’t usually sit down for extended periods of time playing games on their phone (unless you’re me). 5v5 matches lend to problems like people disconnecting mid match (because matches typically take 25+ mins to finish, including hero selection time and player joining time) and a low variety of heroes to choose from in similar mobile MOBAs makes mirror matches almost definite when you have 5 man teams. Three against three means less selection time, less ban time (during ranked / draft mode) and less chance that you’re fighting against the same hero in a match.
Limited In Game Communication (Still Going Strong)
Many people might complain about this, but I personally find the fact that you cannot physically type out a message in-game in VainGlory refreshing. Too many people focus on typing out nonsense, putting down their team mates, shit talking, or otherwise NOT focusing on the actual game that it detracts from everyone elses’ game play. Instead, players can use a variety of different “pings” on the map to indicate what they want to do strategically and “social” pings, such as smiley / frowny faces, thumbs up, cheers, etc. to convey emotions to their teammates. While some of these pings may come off rude, it’s probably all in your head. Yes, they can totally get annoying.
But would you rather be reading “Hey you fuckin retard why are you just standing there. GG Mid is a moron.”
Three Different Game Modes: Standard / Ranked, Blitz, Battle Royale + Practice Mode (All Heroes Unlocked) & Solo / CoOp vs Easy-Very Hard Bots
Many games take for granted how much players appreciate a “sandbox” mode. It took years for Riot to implement this in League of Legends, and only just recently has the concept made it way to the PBE servers. Blizzard’s Heroes of the Storm and DOTA 2 haven’t ignored the need for this feature, however, and VainGlory follows in their footsteps. In “Practice Mode” all heroes are unlocked, infinite gold and level adjustments are available so you can experiment with new builds and techniques how you want to. Also, if you don’t have time for 20-30 minute game, Blitz, a new game mode released just a week ago in Patch 2.1, limits gameplay to 5 minutes. Players score points by securing objectives and kills. The game ends at 5 minutes and a winner is chosen. Done. The different levels of bot opponents one can play against in Solo / Standard mode is nice as well, instead of the same brain dead bots fans of the genre have grown accustomed to.
So much for holding a cup of coffee in your free hand though..
Innovative (and appropriate) Controls
Unlike other Mobile MOBA games that use the “V-Pad” or Virtual Joystick to control one’s character in-game with ability keys on the right hand side, VainGlory has adapted its controls to the user, which is typically someone playing on a tablet or smart phone. Three abilities are centered at the bottom of the screen where one would lay their device flat and use both hands to use abilities and tap to move their character. One of the biggest problems other MOBA apps have had has been targetting enemies with mechanical “misclicks” being an issue regardless of a player’s skill level simply because of the way the controls were situated or laid out. With VainGlory, you simply tap your target, and if you need to, kite backward with your other hand.
Strong Community and Strong Character Development
Koshka
VainGlory isn’t just well-developed graphically, the community behind it is fleshed out as well. The app allows users to create “Guilds” (similar to LoL’s “Clubs”) where anyone can join or users can join by invite only and bond over playing a similar character, sharing playstyles, being in the same time zone, etc. The lore behind the characters is astounding as well, with some in the community creating videos to help bring it to life. It is clear the devs put a lot of love into this one which is why I do find myself loving it a lot as well.
Do you play VainGlory? Message or comment your tag! Will be posting videos/guides in the future. Keep your eye on the pages!
