The dazzling festival of Diwali : Sparkle Fest is celebrated by Longowal Group of Colleges, Derabassi on 29-October-2024 with utmost faith , enthusiasm and in vibrant hues. The college campus was beautifully decorated and adorned with lights, flowers and colorful Rangoli. Various activities like Rangoli ,Best out of waste, Diya and Candle decoration, Vandhanwaar were held on the pious occasion.

Musical Antakshari and Fun games lent a festive and jovial vibe to the ambience. Sports competitions of Basket Ball and Kabaddi brought excitement and thrill in the event. The students and staff also enjoyed themselves at the stalls of various food delicacies and exciting games, all displayed by students only.

The entire celebration was filled with amazing cultural programs and electrifying performances by students which aesthetically showcased Indian traditions and values. Mrs. Kanta Katyal (Chairperson) blessed the staff and students with her benign presence.

Dr. Vinod Katyal (Secretary) on the occasion said that Diwali celebration is the occasion that reminds us all to remove the darkness of ignorance within us and replace it with the light of hope and knowledge. Principal Dr. Rosy Katyal said that festivals filled the life of people with joy and happiness.

These are the medium of bringing people together. She also advised the students to celebrate Eco- friendly Diwali.

Longowal Group of Colleges, Derabassi organized a magnificent fresher’s welcome party on October 16th, 2024 at its Academic Wing. Jubilant smiles and high spirits marked the welcome party for the students. The ecstasy filled event gave the fresher’s an opportunity to showcase their talent and also a platform to interact with their seniors.

The event witnessed many vibrant performances by both senior and junior students. A cultural bonanza was offered by the students that included several rounds of ramp walk and question answer round, dance, music, songs which weaved magic of fun and joy into the event. Beautifully attired contestants rocked the stage with their ramp walk and amazed the audience with their answers.

During this party, Ms. Khushnaseeb of BSc. Radiology bagged the title of Miss Fresher, Mr. Maninder Singh of BSc. Radiology was given the title of Mr. Fresher. Mrs. Kanta Katyal (Chairperson) was present to shower her blessings.While addressing the students Dr.Kapil Katyal (Vice- Chairman) said that extra-curricular activities are significant for overall balance growth of a student’s personality .He also inspired the students to imbue high moral values.

Principal (LPPC) Dr. Rosy Katyal awarded the titles to the winners and inspired students to achieve their goals with hard work and determination. Dr. Vinod Katyal (Director/Principal LAC) welcomed the new entrants and prayed for their successful future.

Longowal Group of Colleges organized a warm Fresher’s Party on 8-October-2024 at its Polytechnic wing for the students of Diploma Engineering courses.

Mesmerizing music, songs, flash lights and exuberant students were the defining moments of the party .The stage was thrilled with dance and singing performances of the students.

The auditorium was set ablaze with a ramp walk by beautiful models, flaunting their attires and coveting for their titles. Ms. Harpreet Kaur (Dip. CSE) was crowned Miss Fresher and Mr. Junaid (Dip. Mechanical) was given the title of Mr. Fresher.

Dr. Kapil Katyal (Vice- Chairman) exhorted the st dents to work hard and extended his good wishes for their bright, prosperous and successful future.

Dr. Rosy Katyal (Principal) in her address said that in these kinds of gatherings senior and junior students can come together and create long-lasting memories. They can reminisce the joyous

moments of the years spent together with friends and teachers.

Dr. Vinod Katyal (Director Admissions) also urged the young students to set their goals and targets in life and pursue them with resolve, perseverance, and discipline.

Longowal Group of Colleges, Derabassi conducted a scholarship awareness programme on 6- September-2024 for socio-economically weaker students of Derabassi and adjoining villages in collaboration with “Youth Dreamers Foundation” owned by Pernod Ricard India Foundation (PRIF). The purpose of the programme was to make the students aware about various scholarship schemes provided by the foundation.

On this occasion, Ms. Jasmeet Kaur ( Sr. Scholar Sath,YDF ) shared the journey of the foundation and its achievements with students and also explained them the registration process on the foundation’s portal. Mr. Deepak Prajapati( Sr. Program Associate, YDF) talked about the different scholarships granted by foundation and the eligibility criteria.

Dr. Kapil Katyal (Vice- Chairman), in his address discussed about the relevance of helping the economically backward students and giving them a helping hand in their academic progress. Dr. Vinod Katyal (Director Admissions) reminded the students that receiving a scholarship adds the responsibility in their life. They all should study hard and perform well in their academics so as to gain the benefits of these scholarship programmes.

Teacher’s Day 5-Setember-2024 Teachers are the awakeners of the inner mind and intellect that goes on to shape the persona of each individual. On the fortunate occasion of Teacher’s Day, the students of Longowal Group of Colleges, Dera Bassi extended their heartfelt gratitude and sincere regards to all the faculty members.
