sam's togachako fic rec masterlist

So the tumblr thread with togachako recs from the other day inspired me to make this post that’s supposed to be a masterlist of my togachako recs. I’m sure I’ve forgotten to add some of the recs I’ve included in my ao3 author’s notes before LMAO. Also, I’m planning to update this list with any new togachako recs I want to add in the future. For now I'm only including completed fics.

1K-5K

A lovely fic with lyrical prose in which Himiko is Medusa and Ochako is her blind GF. It explores Himiko's profound grief over Jin and her relief of finally having human connection be attainable again.

A nice little fic from arguably one of the best femslash writers in that fandom. It checks off all the boxes for everything I could want out of a Togachako fic: a theme of acceptance, exploring what could have been in another life and SO MANY cute moments. Also, the ambiguous ending just feels so right.

A heartfelt bite-sized read that features Himiko and Ochako navigating life together and quirk prejudices in the aftermath of the war. It's so soft with references to spicy moments sprinkled in. (Who doesn't love Togachako and THE BITING?) It's just so sweet to see Himiko trying to grow beyond her past and having Ochako to rely on.

One of my fav Togachako smut one shots. It's so sweet and cute and I want to craddle it in my arms. I love how the story shows Himiko helping Ochako work through self-esteem issues - also, what's not to love about technically self-cest.

The university setting suits Togachako's dynamic really well. I love Himiko's pastel goth aesthetic and Ochako's initial animosity toward her strange lab partner before growing enamored.

I really enjoyed this soulmates AU one-shot since it tied in so well with how much Togachako loves each other despite the odds seemingly being against them. This story really is a testament to how there is no universe in which Ochako could possibly hate Himiko.

A super cute one-shot with a unique matchmaking setup! I was especially fond of the way Ochako’s gay panic was written and Himiko’s dialogue was incredibly fun to read. The parallels drawn between Himiko and Ochako in the fic are super compelling!

This is fluffy togachako established relationship oneshot has some gorgeous poetic prose that makes for an evocative read! It also just was such a soft vibe to it that makes this fic feel like a warm hug every time I read it.

I love this songfic so much!!! It utilizes a vignette style to hit some really poignant notes by giving glimpses it Himiko and Ochako’s past as childhood friends which is later contrasted by their reunion in the present day. The fic packs a punch with some excellent hurt/comfort.

This is some absolutely gut-wrenching hurt/comfort with parallels between togachako and dabihawks. I think it's one of the best togachako fics I've read in a while.

Actor AU togachako? YES PLEASE! The first fic I read in this fandom was an actor AU so I’ve always had a soft spot for this particular niche. Anyways, there’s a lot of cute moments in this and the pining is very strong in the best way possible. Also, the confession scene at the end is totally cute. There’s also some fun nods to krbk and excellent dialogue between Ochako and Katsuki.

I feel like I happen to be the EXACT target audience for this delightful cracky fic. It’s a humorous togachako chatfic (which is my jam) with some cheeky innuendo as well as some excellent and immersive HTML formatting. I also love how this fic provides both Ochako and Himiko’s POV to get the full picture :)

5K-15K

“Pleasing Our Infernal Princess” by intheeveningsunrise | 8.5K | Isekai | Scum Villain Fusion | Useless Lesbians

There is some excellent Ochako introspection and I like how genre-savvy this fic is. Himiko and Ochako’s relationship is also explored in a very fun way as Ochako tries to escape her predestined fate and Himiko manages to see Ochako for who she is at heart. Also, there’s some excellent platonic scenes between Ochako and Bakugo. As someone who hasn’t read scum villain I can vouch that this fic is an excellent read even if you aren’t familiar with SVSSS. In general, I highly recommend giving this a read if you love isekai/transmigration stories and femslash. There is also an incredibly fun twist at the end of this fic :)

An absolutely stellar role reversal fic that stays true to Ochako's and Himiko's characterizations as their lives take a very different trajectory. Ochako's desperation as she tries to fight against the metaphorical shackles tying her down and the pressure the HPSC puts on Himiko makes this story so engaging. This fic was the VERY FIRST togachako fic I ever read and to this day it holds up as one of my all-time favorites!!!!

While I have not read this fic yet (it’s been on my TBR for ages), my main enabler for all things femslash has been singing this fic’s highest praises. According to her, this is an excellent fic to read to get into the togachako ship since it hits many key tropes for the ships (e.g. Ochako’s sapphic internal panic) and strikes the perfect balance between being a meaty enough fic to thoroughly explore the ship while still remaining a one-shot. Also this fic has Greek mythology elements :3

Lowkey this might be one of the best togachako fics I’ve ever read and it still holds up really well with the current togachako landscape despite being written before the togachako manga chapters were dropped. It has an excellent characterization of Himiko and delves into the anxieties of starting over in a poignant way. Also the identity shenanigans and the way guilt festers as Himiko dances around the truth is very compelling. There are also moments of some super cute banter. And this fic is meaty enough to really get a taste of what makes togachako such a fun ship but is short enough to read in one sitting. An excellent first togachako fic to read if you want to get into the ship.

Greater than 15K

This is THE Togachako fic - if you haven't heard of it already, believe me if you mention this fic in a group of togachako enthusiasts, people will start gushing about it immediately. The villain/hero dynamic is so fun in this with a lot of excellent toxic Yuri tension - and OMG Ochako's characterization is great in this (there is this one flashback scene from her childhood that still lives rent-free in my mind XD). And there are so many good interpretations like Ochako's past relationships with Izuku and Tsu that just HIT. Also, the smut is EVERYTHING - I really want to go into details but I'll hold back because it's so much more fun if it's a surprise.

There are a million things I could say about this fic but I will try to keep it brief. This is a Revolutionary Girl Utena and MHA crossover that expertly explores themes of repression, gender, storytelling and what it means to be a hero. Taking advantage of MHA’s large cast, this fic not only does a fantastic job with togachako’s characterization but also does a great job of getting to the core of the side character’s motives and perception of the world. Also, the fic ticks so many quintessential togachako boxes (everything from Himiko being repressed to Ochako’s resilience and unconditional care for Himiko). AND THE FORMATTING OMG!!!!! This fic takes workskin shenanigans to the next level!!! I’m still thinking about the stroke of coding genius in the final chapter. Like y’all would not believe the amount of brainrot this fic induced. Anyways, as someone who has not watched Utena yet I can vouch that this fic reads well regardless of whether you have watched RGU or not :3

As the author I’m biased so no reviews here, just some togachako fics I’ve worked on that I like best and their descriptions.

The only reason Ochako signed up for a dating app was because Mina convinced her that making fun of people's profiles would be a fun way to pass the time. But soon enough she finds herself connecting with a girl under the pseudonym "Carmilla". Still, one looming question stops Ochako from labeling Carmilla as more than a friend: Who exactly is she in real life?

After fighting Himiko and bleeding out, Ochako finds herself reliving the same day of middle school over and over again. And she can’t quite piece together why that one ordinary day is worth repeating at all. Except for Himiko that day is anything but random – after all, it was the day she stabbed her middle school classmate as her mask finally slipped.

Is Himiko’s future really set in stone? Will Ochako be able to break the loop?

Only time will tell.

Years after the war, Ochako is desperately trying to move on from her grief for Toga with her new situationship. But it's so hard to keep things casual when Ochako's fling reminds her of Himiko in so many ways.

Welcome to my blog! Where i mainly post about my future leo; Orion! (Even though that's a nickname, lol)

So, due to some unfortunate events, i am currently unemployed and struggling financially. I can't pay rent and due to mental illness, including cptsd, i am not currently able to get a job. As of right now, i am lucky enough to get to stay with a friend of a friend for free until i can start paying rent, the savings i have are just enough to keep me fed for a few months, tops. I hate to bring this to my own safe space, but the reality of the situation is that i need help. If you can and are interested, then please join my patreon. I'm new to Tumblr ( I have only had it since the summer of 2023 ish). So bear with me as i learn how to use it!

I will post here very rarely (i can disappear for like 6 months at a time, that is a promise) but the rise fandom has motivated me to get better and draw again (hyperfixations go brr)

(i basically only draw Orion and Eshra but y'know-) oh, and i don't fuck with t-cest, that's nasty. I'm also not very invested in ships other than Semi-Feral Polaroids, so don't expect that from me

I made my own au a while back! I'm still fleshing it out and all, but i named it "slightly feral future leo (with ghosts)" or "sffl(wg)" for short. It's a very self indulgent "peepaw ended up in the past for no specific reason" au and it doesn't really have much plot yet, but i just like drawing cute turtle scenarios (a lot of the Leo's snoozing since they deserve a nap) or sometimes I'll draw some angst, (I'm very into angst, but I'm bad at drawing it lol)

Keep in mind that I've been very inspired by other creators and their au's when i created this one, most of it is cherry picked from others creations but i still like it. Even if some very well thought out and emotional concepts have been plucked and haphazardly shoved into my mess of an au, i just want to avoid as much confusion as possible by writing this long ass post ngl

I've decided to let people ask me things now. However, if you have any art requests whatsoever, just know that i only draw when I'm inspired and really, REALLY feel like it! I do still appreciate asks about my au if you're interested, though! (Art requests that i don't draw or can't draw might be saved for later and drawn in the future, btw. though it's not guaranteed)

If you couldn't already tell, i write a lot! I love describing things and telling some stories with drawings, so be prepared for some wordy and long ass posts, lol!

hellooo baah :))) ive yet again come here to ask your opinion on smthn vs(cest) related bc i love your takes :]. so, how d'you feel about the vs sibs having a system (and kinda a kink ig? idk them and their possessive asses prolly find it hot lmao) where whenever a person one of them likes wears their color, that means that person has been 'claimed' by whomever's color they decided to wear?

^ that was a shitty ass explanation so let me give you a somewhat less shitty example: reiju wants to hit up some hot maid girl in the castle and said hot maid girl in the castle realizes this and chooses to wear pink accents in her outfit the next day. this means she 'belongs' to reiju bc shes sporting her color. ya feel me?

now, does this *stop* the other siblings from hitting on a claimed person? oh no not at all lmao- not if the sibling finds the person attractive and wants to fuck them. the color system's basically just a warning to the others that if you hit on the claimed person and the sibling who 'owns' them isn't comfortable with sharing they get a free pass to rag on your ass lmao

BUT. thats just the system for ppl who the sibs wanna fuck. but when the sibs wanna fuck *EACH OTHER…*

imagine ichiji sitting at the breakfast table one morning with subtle green accents to his outfit- a detail everyone but his siblings (and maybe ceaser bc the vs sibs sex life is his favorite soap opera lmao) would miss, signifying that he wants to be dicked down by yonji sometime during the day. or reiju coming last to train because her nails are now a nice shade of blue as she looks at niji with a subtle flirtatious smile (hes getting pegged later :]). or sanji picking up on the system during wci and choosing to wear just *slightly* visible red lingerie under his dress shirt to signifying to ichiji that he needs to be the one ripping it off later

just. thinking about niji abusing the fuck out of this system and becoming the whore he's always deserved to be. like he'd choose a different color every day- his normal fit being subtly paired with something else. maybe its red cufflinks, pink-accented headphones, combat boots that shine green in the sun, midnight black goggles (dont ask how sanji would be around to pick up on this after wci its a smut ask it doesnt need to make sense igsiagigwigw), or even a mix. whoevers attention he was wanting that day, he'd subtly send them a message, and make sure they see it.

this all climaxing when all of 0134 are done with his "disloyal" (they drc they just wanna excuse to fuck that twink) ass and decide to momentarily team up, ignoring him for an entire day but making sure he sees the way they're all hitting on *each other", leaving niji horny, pissed and alone and struggling to go to bed...

..until 0134 all bust down nijis door at like midnight and fuck him to tears. yonji fucking him until his thighs and legs are numb, ichiji making him practically choke to death on his cock, sanji riding his dick till hes screaming n crying, and reiju sitting on/riding his face so hard he cant breathe. theyre all saying shit like "if youre really *that* desperate for all of our attention then just say it, whore" and nijis trying to be snarky and talk back but hes too busy drooling and begging for more to even formulate a sentence

chaeya has always been my #1 since i first got exposed to it, but honestly... zhongkae, dainkae, and albekae/kaebedo are QUICKLY making it a four-way-tie fr :') i'm kinda obsessed with those "doomed by the narrative" ships yfm?

What are you willing to RP when it comes to shipping?

pretty much anything? as long as there's nothing involving the usual icks. yknow. all the -icsts and -cests as well as SA and shit are a no-go for me! as for themes, i'm 100% okay with dark themes since. yknow. yaya can be a Pretty dark character. just no unplanned character deaths.

How large does the age gap have to be to make it uncomfortable?

hard line, no minors. absolutely not. as for kaeya, he's a fully functioning adult (mid to late 20s) that can make his own decisions. since there are people (and beings in general) in teyvat that are virtually immortal and well over 100+ years old, he's not adverse to them at all. now, in a modern world/setting/verse, the same still applies with minors but he wouldn't go for anyone in theirs 50s+... romantically. 30s-40s are still free game to him though :')

Are you selective when shipping?

not... really? what matters most to me is if 1) our characters have chemistry, and 2) i vibe with the mun OOCly. i don't want to ship just to ship, but i'm also not terribly picky when it comes to it. i'm fine with cross-overs, fine with multi-verses, OCs, etcetc. however, what i won't enjoy is, y'know. harem shit. i literally DO NOT care if someone has another rp partner or two that rp the same muses i do and also ship with those muses, but it starts to become a problem if there's a collection going on and they all have the same exact dynamics.

How far do steamy moments have to go before they’re considered NSFW?

the moment those mfers start touching certain spots or doing certain things (like grinding), i put the usfw/nsfw tag on and put pretty much everything under a read-more. if they're just heavily making out and feeling each other up without touching between then legs, then i leave it as suggestive.

Who are other muses you ship your muse with?

i... pretty much ship every character with kaeya except, yknow, his BROTHER, the kids, and lesbian-coded characters (yae miko, ei, navia, clorinde, ningguang, beidou, shenhe, ganyu, dehya, sara, arlecchino). characters that i DO ship yaya with are rosaria, albedo, ayato, thoma, alhaitham, kaveh, itto, wriothesley, neuvilette, kazuha, lisa, chiori, emilie, jean, mona, scaramouche, xiao, candace, kokomi, baizhu, shinobu, gorou, heizou, tighnari, cyno, layla, xianyun, sethos, yoimiya, sucrose... uh. lmao. help.

oh absolutely. i want us to be on the same page and understand each other's plans & wants for our characters. if there's no discussion over shipping, then it just won't happen at all. i need to have things plotted.

oh i love shipping! but it's not a priority, whatsoever. i like smashing my barbies together as much as the next person but i just want to get some good plotlines/stories going that both our characters can benefit from, and if shipping is thrown into the mix, then hey! cool. if not, also cool!

UHHHHH... like. idk. if it's with someone i vibe with and our characters mesh well, then i become kinda ship obsessed? but it doesn't take over my life or anything. i just get excited and maybe even a little emotional over them depending on the context, but like i said, it's not a priority in my life. i just love the little blorbos and flap my hands excitedly if something cute or sweet or whatever happens

What is your favorite ship in your current fandom?

i... hm. for kaeya, chaeya. but i also have such a HUUUGE thing for wrioluc & varkitano too :')

Finally, how does one ship with you?

honestly if we vibe OOCly and our characters get along well and there's just. Something There. then we can talk about it! obviously i draw a hard line with certain characters of course, but i'm always willing to discuss things! i'd like to think i'm a pretty approachable person who's open to convos from literally anyone.

So I'm approaching him as "Dracula if he pretended to have morals" lol. These are my rough guidelines on how I imagine him, obv before Elisabetha fell sick.

He was your typical hypocritical Catholic man. Apparently this is not as popular of an interpretation as I thought? Fans mostly think he was already going through a crisis of faith? I don't know, his whole "how dare God hurt me after everything I did for Him!" smacks me of a fake devoted person who only pretends to believe in God in the hopes that things will go well for them. He talks a lot about God and his faith... but his principles fly out of the window when a cute sinner kneels in front of him :P also, you know, the whole alchemy studies? Not very Christian of him.

He's prone to extreme bursts of emotions. Call it flanderization, but I just couldn't resist the idea of him falling into depression once he's forced to accept that yes, Dracula is him.

He's as stubborn as a mule and very good at ignoring things that aren't convenient to him (see: how he dodged Leon's question "is this what Elisabetha would have wanted?")

He values people mostly as what they can give to him. He's trained to distinguish between knights worthy of being in his company and knights who are just there for the family honor or money.

He loves Elisabetha and Leon more than his own life, literally the only two people in the world he'd trust his life with.

He's extremely proud of his accomplishments as a tactician. Therefore he has a bit of an inflated ego about his intelligence :P

his type of man is "pretty boy who can obliterate my entire ass" lmao. not surprisingly, in my fic he mainly focuses on hector's hands and scars because for him they prove how good of a fighter he is. (he's not as attracted to the scars inflicted by his future self though hehe :))

As for the ships, well. I wouldn't even know how to explain how I fell into Mactor hell lmao. This post explains it better than I could: it's about the transient love that they both know will not last, because Mathias is doomed to become a monster and no one knows how much of him will remain in Dracula, but that doesn't erase how important that experience was for both of them. (yes your fic about Mathias asking to be scarred still lives in my head rent free why do you ask) also, crispin freeman

We didn't really think about Maac lol. In my fic Isaac hates Mathias' whole guts because he doesn't see him as Dracula and he's actually disappointed that his Lord started out as a weak, emotional human. Maybe he's just copying Dracula's blatant disdain towards his past self :P but I suppose that, if Mathias was forced to talk to him, he'd see that underneath his abrasive personality there's a boy who only wants to be loved by his Master... and maybe if they could warm up to each other, who knows?

Macula, I'm still not into it because self-cest is not my thing no matter how far you push it, but there is a valid story to be told about self-hatred evolving in self-acceptance.

Maleon, well I love that Mathias seriously expected Leon to follow him in immortality lol, man just wanted his bestie for the rest of his existence :( But I haven't seriously thought about their dynamic and what they'd like about each other.

and Malter is very underrated lmao, love the idea of these two bastards playing mental chess with each other. also, walter as foreshadowing of what mathias will become <3

Hello it is possible I am blind, but in the age spreadsheet (which is incredible I could never), are there birthdays? I know some people have canon birthdays, but not many actually lmao, and I was wondering if you had a list? For anyone and everyone with a canon birthday

Any known birthdays - and there are actually quite a few, plus more that can be put in approximate ranges thanks to airdates - are included in the chart!

(For reference, the chart in question and several related ones can be found via this currently pinned post of mine.)

In the cell with any given characters name, if they have any other names (by way of having changed them for any reason such as marriage, amnesia, and in at least one case ‘adoption’), along with their Rider Names, they’re noted in a ‘note’.

You can see these on desktop by clicking on the cell, and it should appear next to it.

(I very heavily recommend against using mobile to view the age chart, or the order charts, because they are very large and unwieldy in a narrow format. Plus, it’s harder to interact with the notes on mobile, since it involves long-pressing the cell.)

In any case, those notes also feature known birthdays! There are surprisingly a lot of them - many of which are gleaned from things like drivers licenses and profiles shown on screen.

Yeah, a lot of people act differently when they're behind a mask or otherwise anonymous, but with Taro it's like flipping a switch to going absolutely ham.

Yes, he's able to be kick-ass when he's in civilian mode, but he has explicitly said he 'does not hit people'... and yet comes out fists, swords, and gun swinging the Second he transforms.

Well, okay, the first thing he does when he transforms is put on a show with a whole procession, somehow, but the second thing he does when he transforms is go completely ham.

Taro does the 'hardcore training' thing in civilian form, too - we saw that in the Taro & Tsuyoshi episode with the onigiri. But not the way he does as Don Momotaro.

I guess it's more the juxtaposition of exactly how different he becomes that's what's getting people.

My #1 post of 2022

So, I’ve been working on this for the last few weeks, and have finally finished it!

The pattern is from the wonderful folks at @shitpostsampler, and I love them for all the creative work they do to help folks make other creative work happen!

The original pattern uses violets for the lettering, and blue/greens for the border, but I decided to go with a more AO3-y color scheme, and swapped in red for text, grey for most of the border, and a really nice dark red-violet for the border accents. I’m really proud of how this turned out!

(Granted, now i have to figure out how to frame it, but that shouldn’t be too terribly hard given I have incredibly easy access to frames and mats at work lol)

Now, to reward myself for finishing this project with finishing another project, namely one of the fics that I procrastinated on in order to make this cross stitch calling myself out on procrastinating on working on my fics.
