I'm still actually hashing out instinct stuff with the Scozien, but here we go :D

16. "I really wish you hadn't seen that." from this prompt list!

Leon stands over the infected, teeth bared in a snarl. His tail has blood dripping off of it, and he’s reminded of the arena.

He shakes his head, trying to get rid of the thought, calming himself down. Scozien are still predators at heart, and as much as they like to act it, they aren’t too far from their base instincts. Bloodlust is high up there in violent situations, a need to prove themselves stronger. Leon has better control of it than the average civilian, due to training.

So, why did this set him off so much?

“Leon? Are you back with us?” Chris asks, tentatively. Leon clicks, a small sound, self-soothing. Slots himself back into place, pushes those instinctual urges to the back.

“Yeah. Fine. Sorry, I really wish you hadn’t seen that,” he says, turning to look at Chris.

There’s blood dripping from his arm, Leon realizes. The B.O.W. had taken a swipe at the man, hitting hard enough to send him flying against the wall. He had crumpled.

Ah. There we go. That’s why he freaked out. It had hurt someone he cared about.

He sighs, shaking himself off one more time, shooting Chris a wry smile. “You good? Looked like you got knocked pretty hard.”

Chris huffs out a laugh, shaking his head. “It’ll take more than that to kill me, Kennedy.”

Something in his chest is soothed by that, an agreeing click coming from him.

“Good. I can’t save your ass every time we do this,” Leon snipes back, turning to continue into the facility. Smiling a bit more genuinely when he hears Chris grumble and follow behind him.

mahler 2 was sooooo good btw 😇😇😇 there were ELEVEN horns total!!!!! some of my favorite parts:

when the last 4 offstage horns came onstage during mvmt 5 🥵🤯😵‍💫 when i saw it in nashville they didn't have that many!!!

when the 2 solo vocalists walk onstage to their chairs DURING the death shriek in mvmt 3. two ladies in glittering floor-length dresses mozying calmly towards their seats as you hear a chord that wrenches you from your body... lifechanging

this isnt specific to this performance but i love the moment when the choir suddenly stands and you know something big is coming

the finale was so good and perfectly paced and balanced... the trombonists were soooo good

basically it slayed
