Thoughts on Yellowjackets 2x9
if you're here specifically to learn how this season is going to impact my fanfic, feel free to stick around! spoilers start after the cut-off.
So, that was a wild ride! I just wanna say before I get into my thoughts that from here on out unless otherwise specified/stated, my Yellowjackets fics will all be part of an alternate cannon where all the girls stayed a lot closer and had a lot more therapy after the wilderness because let's be real that would have solved so many of our current problems. they still have some fucked shit to deal with, but it's not as bad as it is in actual cannon because our cannon is making me so sad.
but anyways! thoughts and spoilers for the season 2 final start now!
Gotta say I was loving it till we got to the hunt. Though I absolutely didn't want it and knew someone would die, I was convinced either Natalie, Van, or Lisa. logically, those just made the most sense to me, so I wasn't surprised when it was Natalie. However, Misty????? You really had to do that to her, again. I'm horrified to see what's going to become of her in season 3. and Natalie's arch through this season is so heartbreaking. She was finally making progress! she was forgiving, working so hard to better herself and she was feeling better. after over 25 years of being on the downhill, she was finally finding her way up, only to be killed to further traumatize Misty.
However, I do know though that it's very likely Natalie was our victim because Juliette Lewis has been actively talking about getting back into film and tv takes a lot of time, especially for a main character, so they had to find some way to write her off. We don't know when this choice was made, so Natalie's rather strange arch was either a victim of a spur-of-the-moment change, or it's just frustrating writing. had the plan always been from the start of the season to kill Natalie, I'd be even more disappointed than I am because she had a really good setup for development! She was really starting to heal, and having the plan from the start be her death felt like a waste of all that development.
I really don't have much more to say about Natalie if I'm honest because I'd like to wait for more explanation on the creative choices made and if Juliette really did ask to be written off, but I have so much to say about Misty, because holy shit, what have they done.
Misty is already so broken. having her kill Natalie with her hand isn't going to change her character. this isn't going to result in any positive development for her. it's literally just going to crush her. Misty killing Natalie is 100% a callback to Christen/Chrystal and I think we all know that, but the issue is that there is no growth between those two events. it would be one thing if Misty had felt no remorse for Christen/Chrystal back when she died only to kill Natalie and really realize what she's done and is capable of, but she did know and she cared.
They took the time to show it in 2x7 when she has to step away from Shauna, blood on her hands to sob and cry because she knows she did something wrong. At that moment, she realizes everything she's done wrong, and she is fully at her lowest. She beats herself up, cursing her hand because she's fully realized the situation they're all in is, in fact, her fault. I think the only way Natalie's death could have any "positive" impact on her growth would have been had she not had that meltdown in 2x7. Had she stayed completely focused and diligent, more concerned with keeping the truth behind Christen/Chrystal's death than thinking about her fault or blaming herself, then she could have had that breakthrough as an adult after Natalie dies. At this point, Natali's death is only going to force her down under the water more than she already is.
I think all this is going to do is have Misty drastically pull away from her friends. Misty is a caretaker. No matter how unconventional her methods may be, ultimately that's the role that she plays, or at least tries to play. She puts others' concerns and needs above her own and goes to any extreme that she needs to because her friends are her priority and she thinks they're worth taking that extreme action if it means they're safe.
But, try as she might, her friends still die, and she keeps finding herself at the helm of those deaths, but not on purpose. She repeatedly finds herself with a hand around her wrist, forcing her to push the big red self-district button flashing in front of her. But she ignores the hand that's forcing her. She eliminates the middleman and decided those tragedies are her fault. because she is there and trying to help, any harm is ultimately a result of her failure. And a lot of her more drastic actions are extremely logical, literal, and calculated to her. In her mind, they're completely foolproof, so when they fail it's directly because of her. (Personally, I think an argument could easily be made that she's autistic, but that's for another post. If anyone is interested please let me know! I'd love to talk about it).
In season 3, we're going to see a whole new side of Misty that I don't think I ever wanted to think about. She's going to be broken and a shell of herself, more so if Natalie had been killed in any other way. Had Lisa shot Natalie herself, sure there would have been some grief and self-blame, but not at the same level as this. She's going to completely retreat into herself, removing herself as much as she can because she feels everything is her fault, and Natalie's death is just the nail in the coffin driving that "fact" home for her. Our sweet, bubbly blond who is always readjusting her glasses, who loves her bird and is a proud citizen detective is gone, and I don't know how else they can move her story forward.

Monday, November 18 — The Character Tour: Create a travel itinerary featuring 10 significant locations from your character’s life (can be in the same town/city, country, or even around the world!). You can do this in a saved Google Map too.
Hey Keke!
Heard you're all moved in to Tulane— can't believe you're already in uni!!! Seriously, you're making me feel so old.
I'm christening your new university email address with some local recs that I remember from my time in NOLA. Have fun, be safe, call me if you need anything, etc.
Cafe Du Monde for beignets
Yes, it's basic, but it's sort of a rite of passage. And they're good beignets. Not the best in town, but I can recommend them in good conscience. The thing about beignets is that sadly nothing will compare to my recipe (sorry!) but you'll find your own favorite spot in time. For now, go with your first-semester-freshman-year friends that you may or may not stay in touch with later on and just enjoy being adults for the first time.
2. Mojo Coffee for studying and snacks
I know this is across town for you, but when I tell you how many long, long nights studying I spent here... and yeah, there is absolutely studying that you have to do in culinary school. It's not all chopping and sauteeing. I'll spare you the explanation of the history of the sous vide method, but just know that I did a lot of readings here. Get an iced mocha and a banana chocolate chip muffin and thank me later.
3. Tia Maria's for a great first date spot
Or just bring a friend here! But I always thought this place was a little romantic. Or maybe it's just that their pupusas are an experience akin to falling in love. I won't bore you with the whole story but I did have some really lovely moments here, I'll say that much.
4. City Park for people-watching and dog-watching
I went here a lot when I was feeling homesick or overwhelmed. I think something you'll find (not to scare you) is that when you're all on your own in a new place, it's easy to feel alone, even in a room full of people. For me, being completely surrounded by strangers going about their random lives made me feel better for some reason. And dogs. Lots of dogs. Just grab a bench here, watch the world go by. It'll help. I promise.
5. Red Eye Grill for FOOD and NON ALCOHOLIC DRINKS until you are 21
I am officially NOT recommending you a bar. I'm just letting you know that this place is a lot of fun and open late, and once you are of legal drinking age (why is it so late in the US??) you would maybe enjoy a drink here. Many fun nights here in culinary school. And open late.
6. The Superdome for a concert
I DID get very lucky to get gifted Saints tickets once, but I wouldn't count on that. But next time Beyonce goes on tour (she better in the next four years) I'm coming to visit and we're going. Anyway, keep an eye out for cheap nosebleed tickets for other stuff, the stadium's not hard to get to and you'll have fun.
7. St Charles Ave for Mardi Gras
There are actually a ton of parades in different locations all season (Mardi Gras is a season, not a day!) but this was always where my friends and I went. Bring coffees and beignets and get ready to catch some beads! This is when I started really feeling like this was my city. Maybe that'll be another moment for you, but I hope you feel that it's special too.
8. Jamila's Cafe for amazing Tunisian food
You're in uni now! Try new things! My roommate, Nina, and I, we used to literally spin a wheel to try a new restaurant every weekend. Once we tried Jamila's, we sort of started rigging it so we could keep going back there. It's that good. Make sure you save room for dessert, their pastries are heavenly.
9. Fives for a special occasion
Go here with your parents toward the end of the year. Brag a little about how hard you worked. Thank them for everything. And then cover the bill. I know, I know! But trust me, it will be a special memory they never forget. I did it, and I know I won't.
(Get the oysters)
10. Bonnabel Hill for a perfect sunset
Bring a few of your friends and some NON-ALCOHOLIC beverages, also toward the end of the school year. Or maybe save it for graduation. Sunsets are kind of perfect for stuff like this, and this is the best one you'll see in NOLA. I'm not gonna say much more than that, because I know you'll make it your own. And that's what I really want for you. These are just my memories, but I know you're going to make your own.
Love you. Call me. Call your parents. Have fun and be safe.
XOXOXOXO
Tia

angel city is not my favourite team, but not for any particular reason other than i'm a san diego fan so there's a rivalry. but ACFC is a fun team to cheer for. they have a great environment and are going to be unstoppable when christen press comes back. they have a great coach, who became head coach like 6 months into last season and went on i think a 12 game unbeaten streak?? they also have awesome young talent in the thompson sisters. sydney leroux also scored a sick bicycle kick for them in the last game of the regular season.
san diego wave is my personal favourite. alex morgan is the main captain, and though she hasn't had a great year for the uswnt, she's still been a key player for the wave. it's always fun to watch her. young players to watch: jaedyn shaw. she's scored some bangers for club and a few in international friendlies as well now. naomi girma is one of the best defenders in the world right now, which is so impressive considering she's only entering her 3rd year as a pro. they also have abby dahlkemper who is getting back into her groove after back surgery. i also love kyra carusa and also the legend emily van egmond.
chicago redstars: i have a feeling they're going to become a real threat in the next two or three years. they finished last in the standings this last season but are under new ownership, and got an amazing new coach in lorne donaldson. he took the jamaican women's team to the knockouts this last world cup without funding from the JFF (literally, the team had to fundraise on gofundme just to fly to australia). they lost a lot of huge players in the offseason but just signed mal swanson to a huge deal (literally one of the best forwards in the world and is only 25). they've freed up a lot of cap space with the players that aren't there anymore so i'm expecting some good moves form them.
houston dash: they finished 10th in the standings last year. they're not that great, but i think in a few years they'll get up there. they've only made playoffs once and it was a 1st round exit, but they have won a challenge cup. players of note: jane campbell (arguably the best goalkeeper in the league last season), alozie, chapman, prince, sanchez, ordoñez. i don't know too too much about them.
now i really have to do some homework but i will come back for a rundown on the remaining teams
that’s very long, i actually agree that angel city is such a fun team to cheer for, they do have good signings, especially when they have the future of usa, the thompson siblings.
san diego was the other team, that i might go for. honestly it falls down between the two, but who knows if i actually end up supporting a different time, kinda like a plot twist.
oh? chicago red stars has the coach who took jamaica through the knock-out rounds, judging by that, they’ll be a real threat soon, assuming that the coach stays for a while.

I'm literally like WHO?
Goalkeepers: Angelina Anderson, DiDi Haračić
Defenders: Vanessa Gilles (ON LOAN), Merritt Mathias, Lily Nabet, Paige Nielsen, Megan Reid, Ali Riley, Jasmyne Spencer, M.A. Vignola, Gisele Thompson
Midfielders: Claire Emslie, Jun Endo (INTL-JPN), Amandine Henry (INTL-FRA), Clarisse Le Bihan (INTL-FRA)
Forwards: Scarlett Camberos, Katie Johnson, Sydney Leroux, Christen Press, Alyssa Thompson
If you take into consideration things beyond play for the club, like potential value monetarily in the league, or intangibles (like Ali Riley). DiDi, Nabet, Spencer, Johnson are the only players actually below league starting caliber sometimes. And they're still definitely starting caliber for an expansion team. Reid wouldn't be a huge loss because there's depth in her position, but she's starting league CB quality for sure. I would feel disappointed to lose Camberos (less so than Endo or Emslie) partially because for many teams/many seasons/many games she would totally be starting caliber.
who anon!

Ahhh thank you so much for the ask! ❤️
This snippet is from my upcoming Are You The One? AU called The Perfect Match, the completion of which will be my first fic goal of 2022. For some background, Are You The One? is an MTV reality dating show where they invite a bunch of young, hot, single people to a mansion and have them take a bunch of compatibility tests before arriving. Based on the results of the compatibility tests, each single is assigned a secret "perfect match" of somebody else on the cast. The pairings would typically be M/F, but the most recent season of the show was made exclusively up of people who identified as either bi or pan, so their perfect matches could be anybody on the cast, and this is the format I'm using for the fic. The cast competes in challenges and get to know each other over the course of the season, and they're periodically told how many matches they have correct. If they can all correctly figure out their perfect matches by the end of the game, they collectively win $1 million. But if they can't, they leave with nothing. The game is essentially one big logic puzzle, so I'm writing it in such a way where readers can play along and try to figure out the perfect matches in addition to following along with Buck and Eddie's burgeoning love story!
This snippet is from the first night of the game. The show's thrown a big MTV-style rager for the cast to help them mingle, and our beloved Eddie is painfully out of his element 😂
Eddie liked to think he was a pretty self-assured man. Or should be, rather. Star athlete in high school, Silver Star recipient, father of the best kid ever. And not to toot his own horn, but there had never been any shortage of women willing to show romantic interest in him, even when he was married. And now that he had finally come around to embracing this long-repressed part of his sexuality, he was finding the same was true of men. But all it took was five minutes of this party for his confidence to be shattered and send one thought reverberating through his head:
I am way too old for this.
Okay, maybe this wasn’t true in the literal sense. He was a couple of weeks away from turning thirty-one, still squarely in his prime. A quick scan of his newfound housemates told him most of them were mid-twenties, but there were a few who could be his age or older.
He wanted to talk and mingle with all the stunningly attractive people, he really did. But Eddie had always taken a more traditional approach to dating. He liked the slow burn of going on dates and getting to know someone, and not jumping right into sex right away. For him, the emotional connection almost always preceded the physical one. But it was becoming increasingly clear that that wasn’t everyone else’s speed.
Between the sloppy dancing and the gratuitous binge-drinking, he had already seen three couples making out, and it was barely two hours in. He had even seen the door to the Boom Boom Room — the name of which sent disgusted shivers down Eddie’s spine upon learning it — slam shut, presumably to christen it for the season.
He knew he needed to put himself out there. Winning the cash prize at the end of this experience depended on it. But he just didn’t know how.
He stood uncomfortably behind the kitchen counters on the outskirts of the dance floor, contemplating his next move, when somebody shoved a full glass into his hand.
Lena stared at him expectantly until he raised his eyebrows in question. “Vodka soda," she called over the pounding bass. "My special mix.”
Eddie took a sip and tried to resist the urge to spit it back up. Nope, that definitely wasn’t a vodka soda. More like straight rubbing alcohol with a hint of lime. The show was somehow able to rent out a mansion in Hawaii for over a month, but couldn’t splurge on anything top shelf? His face instinctively screwed up in disgust, and he hoped it wouldn’t offend Lena, but that ship had probably sailed. “Did you put any mixer in this?”
“What do you think’s special about it?” Lena replied, with a casual shrug.
Eddie set the glass down on the counter. “Yeah, I don’t think so.”
She rolled her eyes. “Come on. You need something to help you loosen up. Not gonna lie, you standing here all alone is bumming me out a little.”
“Is it that obvious?”
“I think a nun watching porn would look more comfortable than you do right now.” She glanced over at the dance floor. “I mean, I like people-watching as much as the next guy, but this is just sad.”
Eddie smirked. “Guess I’ll just keep all the gossip to myself, then.”
“Fine. I take it back, you’re not sad. Twist my arm, why don’tcha?” Lena rolled her eyes. “Spill.”
Tagging @halsteadsass because she wanted updates on this particular one ❤️
Send me a 👀 and I'll post a snippet from a WIP!

Since we don’t really see what happens after.. what is their relationship like? Especially with such hectic hockey schedules? Just curious how they go about their daily life now that they are seeing each other. (ps. i really loved the hockeyau since I’m a huge hockey fan)
They get together right at the beginning of the offseason and so the beginning of their relationship is this sort of loose haze where nothing really sticks. They spend more time than they should hauled up in Tobin's apartment and blowing their meal plans and not thinking about hockey at all except for how its still the love of their lives. but then like. Christen's just won the cup. that comes with a lot of responsibility and time commitments, even in the offseason, and hockey has to creep back in.
Christen's mostly joking about her cup day at the end of blaze of fear, but she's also not. Its important to her! She's dreamed about this day! A stupid petty part of her has probably dreamed that Tobin Always Better Than Her Heath wouldn't get to know what a cup day was like and Christen would, but instead she gets two time stanley cup champion Tobin Heath who loves her and is smiling in a way Christen can chose to interpret as being sincere when she says "okay, Chris, I'll come."
(its not insincere its just like. tobin sort of feels like she's dying about it. she does love christen but she loved winning first and longest and she doesn't. she isn't. she can't watch chris walk around and get covered in praise and wonder if she feels like shit the way tobin did at her cup day, hungover and twenty-something and pretty sure it wasn't enough. and then christen tells her its going to be in LA, which makes sense. she knows that. tobin's was in jersey. LA is chris' hometown. she gets it. she just also thinks that maybe like, if she has to watch the cup get passed around the room in the city that passed her over the second she stopped doing that for them, that tossed aside all the love she gave them, like, maybe that'll kill her. or whatever)
So obviously it goes to shit and they end up fighting the next day and Tobin walks out and sits on a beach for like five hours and Christen doesn't come to find her. She keeps waiting for her to sit down next to her on the sand and she never does. When Tobin goes back to the house Christen is just, there, cooking meal plan approved pasta and asking her about her training plan. Tobin doesn't really know what the fuck to do with that. But, after that, its fine. They spend time in LA. Tobin introduces Christen to her parents in Jersey. Its good. They literally never discuss anything.
In season its different, and that becomes a theme. They aren't really good at being together (Tobin needs people in front of her, which is why her relationships with cheney and a-rod - and alex but thats one sentence in the fic even if its a book in my head -suffer, and Christen needs to be able to control everything) and in a way they end up. sort of. not being together. They are obviously, and they're not with other people, its just like. Sometimes they don't talk for two weeks and then their teams play each other and they'll stay up the whole night just to be Close while trying not to think about all the bruises they left on each others bodies in the game. How are you meant to love someone who hunts you for sport? How are you meant to do anything but love them when they put so much care into the chase? and then its the offseason again and its like. a real relationship. and then the season starts again and its not. and again and again and again. until eventually Christen leaves Toronto and signs in LA for her last season the same year Tobin is traded back to the Kings (from Minnesota bc she doesn't stay in Montreal which is a whole other narrative at play here) and suddenly they're older and shackled and not going anywhere. and open chapter one of 'no mad dogs, no hatchets'

Imma be petty about united fans forever bc literally what was the point of the tweets today? Like girlie is minding her own business and hasn’t played in months…get a grip
I don't care about them tbh, they're all so stupid. I'm more petty about the "TC" fans who literally canceled me for expressing my thoughts during that season while they interacted with this weirdo, just because she was buying them kits lmao.
Now she's saying Thomas is better than Christen 😂😂😂 come collect your friend.

My SVU Headcanons - N*FW
The other one was pretty well recieved, so this is the other self-indulgent half. Again, I don't own the characters lmao. Please heed the title, it is in fact n*fw. I don't wanna be banned lol.
Also most of these might be Olivia because I'm in love with everything about her lmaooo.
Starting of strong with Olivia again, my girl is a dom. A soft dom, but a dom nonetheless. She probably would have switched in the earlier seasons, but after Lewis she's adament about control.
Sonny is the king of body worship. He is a very sweet service top, but can be a lil more assertive if need be.
Rafael switches with a preference for bottoming.
Rafael also has a suit kink, I don't make the rules. He once saw Olivia in a suit and nearly busted right then and there. Same tho
When getting his first house with Kathy, they christened every single room before they were even furnished. Elliot has definitely read the Kama Sutra out of curiosity, and to his wife's benefit.
Alex is a power bottom no matter who she is sleeping with. She is a brat and likes being put in her place.
Casey switches between submission and dominance as she struggles with her Catholic upbringing. She cried the first time she had sex with Olivia.
Rollins' favorite place to be is between Olivia's thighs. Whether it's on her knees or with the older woman sitting on her face, he could spend hours eating her out.
Rafael is the KING of consent. We got safewords, verbal confirmation, the stop light system. My man is the poster child for Safe, Sane, and Consensual.
Olivia has pegged Rafael. Rollins has pegged Sonny. The men have compared, though both women are different.
Fin has a sex playlist that he has had since his teenage years. It's still burned onto a CD.
Olivia, Casey, and Alex have had a threesome. Olivia topped both of them beautifully and they still reminisce about it to this day.
Rollins, Sonny, and Rafael have also had a threesome. Sonny and Rollins argue over who fucked Rafael better.
Out of everyone who has gone down on Olivia, she swears Rollins was the best which makes her preen like a goddamn peacock.
Casey and Liz Donnelly have had sex numerous times, especially in Casey's office over her desk. Liz doms, but will take the strap from the younger woman. There are feelings but neither will ever talk about it.
Casey was the first person to call Olivia daddy and had a panic attack mid-fuck because of it, I'll die by this.
Olivia does not like being tied down or restrained in any form or fashion, but she has a pretty extensive knowledge of shibari.
Alex introduced her to shibari. Olivia prefers to use silk because it doesn't leave bruises or anything too damaging. Alex chose a dark blue because Liv said it looked nice against her skin.
Sonny has definitely worn panties at least once and Rollins is the only one who knows because she saw them. (they were neon yellow, god awful color)
Alex gets off being called Counselor in bed, so Olivia uses it to fluster her. So Alex obviously calls her daddy back.
The first time Olivia and Rafael had sex, she made a joke about choking him and this man was honest to god into it. (I mean same tho, I'd be down.)
On that same note, Rafael has a hands kink. He will watch Olivia's hands flex as she writes or Sonny's because he speaks with his hands like a damn stereotype.
Olivia's dream threesome is Alex and Rafael but they're both such needy brats that she literally would not be able to handle the brattiness.
Rollins has eaten Olivia out under her desk mid-meeting with Rafael who 100% knew what was going on becuase he knows exactly what Olivia looks like when she comes.
Olivia has fucked Rollins in an interrogation room afterhours. Rollins can't walk into one without remembering.
