Anyone who wants to understand how Fascist models of leadership can find expression in our own time need only read this passage from former president Donald Trump's speech at the recent Conservative Political Action Committee meeting held in Maryland.

Trump's CPAC speech brings forth a century of rhetoric and agendas that have been used to destroy democracy, conjuring threats that are meant to build support for authoritarian action and leadership, starting with the idea of the head of state as a vengeful victim.

“What did Italy need? An avenger!... It was necessary to cauterize the virulent wounds...and eliminate evils which threatened to become chronic," Fascist leader Benito Mussolini wrote in his autobiography, striking a similar note to Trump as he explained why he had declared dictatorship in 1925.

Ever since Il Duce came to power a century ago, strongman leaders have proclaimed their unique ability to lead their people to greatness, including by righting the wrongs internal and external enemies supposedly perpetrate against the nation. In the process, the strongman absorbs the blows delivered by those enemies, putting his well-being at risk as he battles to save the nation and protect all that is cherished and dear.

The focus on victimhood sets up any repressive action by the state as self-defense. It justifies the literal weaponization of government, with violence used against enemies "for the good of the nation." The "public safety laws" that jailed leftists and transformed Italy into a police state in the 1920s upheld this fiction.

And Nazi policies did not just make good on Adolf Hitler's vows to punish elites who had "stabbed Germany in the back" by accepting the draconian terms of the Versailles Treaty (which held Germany responsible for all moral and material damages incurred during World War One). They also targeted groups that Hitler identified as threats to Germany’s survival in the future. These included Jews ("black parasites of the nation"); Bolsheviks (the “scum of humanity”); and war profiteers and international capitalists— the forerunners of the "globalists" Trump regularly denounces, including in this CPAC speech.

When such leaders feel their power is threatened, or are staging a comeback after having been voted out of office, they focus on gaining control of public institutions to exact revenge. This is one meaning of Trump’s declaration that "we're going to finish what we started.” If he returns to the White House, he will punish all who did not collaborate with his attempt to overthrow the government.

Trump's well-honed victimhood persona is the star of the CPAC speech, and he invokes a dizzying array of enemies who want to "kill America" and do him in as well. "A sick and sinister opposition, the radical left, communists, the bureaucrats, the fake news media, the big special interests," as well as "Antifa thugs," and "corrupt intelligence agencies."

Fascist leaders pose as pure souls who risk everything to defend the nation. Trump followed suit at CPAC by presenting himself as an innocent and honest man who had never tangled with the law before "corrupt Democratic prosecutors" funded by "the George Soros money machine" sought to stop his "an epic struggle to rescue our country."

"I had a beautiful life before I did this..."I didn't know the word subpoena, I didn't know the word grand jury. I didn't know that they want to lynch you for doing nothing wrong." Luckily for his followers, Trump is tenacious. "We're going to complete the mission, we're going to see this battle through to ultimate victory. we're going to make America great again."

But why stop at America? The true Fascist avenger fixes the world. "I will have the disastrous war between Russia and Ukraine settled. It will be settled quickly. I will get the problem solved. I will get it solved in rapid order—it will take me no longer than one day. I know what to say to each of them. I got along well with all of them. I got along well with Putin."

In fact, as Trump remarks, had he been in office now, as fearsome and powerful as a mountain, "Russia would have never pulled the trigger. This is the most dangerous time in the history of our country and Joe Biden is leading us into oblivion...Biden is a criminal and nothing ever seems to happen to him."

With this incitement to violence against a sitting president, Trump's CPAC speech reaches its peak. Trump offers Americans no policy ideas, but rather a classic Fascist cocktail of negative emotions, satisfying promises of revenge, and a sense of heroism and power.

Like Mussolini and Hitler before him, Trump knows that the strongman must be everything to his people. His devoted followers must be so bonded to him that no other leader is possible in their minds. I stopped watching Chernobyl after the first episode because a lifetime ago, I was a serious physics nerd and everything they were saying was absurd about the levels of radiation. Last night we watched the other 4 episodes and I thought maybe I might try and push the rock up the hill again and maybe open some eyes about where we are right now in this truly dystopic Orwellian nightmare. J. Robert Oppenheimer was a particular hero to me as a teen because he was so brilliant and accomplished the impossible in just 18 months. If you have not read American Prometheus, I highly recommend it because it details a time when we had a government of imbeciles running around with their hair on fire about communists who threw people in jail who wouldn't admit to that old drunk McCarthy that they were communists. Like all demagogues, McCarthy thought he was the lone arbiter of who was and who wasn't a patriot and he rose to such prominence because he was willing to lie about anything to make his baseless allegations. But Joe McCarthy was no patriot nor was his principle henchman Roy Cohn. They used the collective paranoias of stupid people to manufacture a crisis that did not exist. They destroyed lives and relished doing it to what would be referred now as the 'elitist liberals' like Dalton Trumbo and Oppy. Oppy was an extremely educated liberal who spoke to other people like him. Some of whom were communists. This made him a threat in the minds of the men who put Julius and Ethel Rosenberg to death. Ethel was entirely innocent but that didn't matter to a public brought to full froth by the hysteria of the day. Those men beating the drums of patriotism could not conceive of a man like Oppy talking to a communist and not be a communist himself, the same was said of Trumbo. Guilt by association was just enough for the likes of Cohn and McCarthy. "For each lie, a debt to the truth is incurred." Chernobyl Historians have written heroic books about the great generals of WWII, MacArthur and Patton being the most famous and they do deserve their notoriety but they ignored to a large extent who actually won the war for the allies and that comes down to two men: Alan Turing and J. Robert Oppenheimer. By any measure, Alan was the greatest man of the 20th century. Oppy is a bit harder to fit into that calculus and he said so himself because he knew atomic weapons would change the world and not in a good way. It's true the Japanese were whipped and that Doolittle could have continued to firebomb Japanese cities until the Japanese came to heel but that is still speculation. After Nagasaki, the war was over right or wrong, Oppy did that and saved hundreds of thousands of American troops. After the war, McCarthy went after Oppy. He wasn't treated like the hero he was and didn't want to be. He was treated like a Soviet agent and stripped of all of his security clearances because he would not name names. He was threatened with prison, his jobs were taken from him and he was exiled from the community of scientists that *he* built because of the lies of scum like McCarthy and Cohn. Alan Turing didn't fair much better from his government either. The McCarthys of that time didn't really believe in America at all, he wasn't a patriot no matter how loudly his supporters screamed it. McCarthy didn't think the idea of America could survive 'communist infiltration'. He had no grasp of why communism spread in Russia like wildfire because to his primitive and ignorant mind, he didn't know what it was like to live under a Tsar. 'If it spread there then it can spread here' was the thinking because McCarthy didn't understand or believe in the ideals that founded America. To him, they were so weak and feeble that communism would be preferable than what we had in America. That lie destroyed lives, destroyed families and stands as a black stain on our nation's history. The thing about liars is that they have to tell bigger and bigger lies to cover for all the small ones and then that debt to the truth comes due. It came to McCarthy when Joseph Welch lanced the festering boil that was McCarthyism with the truth. Before Welch delivered his fatal blow, he reacted to McCarthy's slander with this: "And so, Senator, I asked him to go back to Boston. Little did I dream you could be so reckless and so cruel as to do an injury to that lad. It is true he is still with Hale & Dorr. It is true that he will continue to be with Hale & Dorr. It is, I regret to say, equally true that I fear he shall always bear a scar needlessly inflicted by you. If it were in my power to forgive you for your reckless cruelty, I would do so. I like to think I'm a gentle man, but your forgiveness will have to come from someone other than me." Then a moment later, he drew the blade that ended the national nightmare when he murdered McCarthy with the indelible truth: Mr. Welch: You've done enough. Have you no sense of decency, sir, at long last? Have you left no sense of decency? McCarthy and Cohn of course had no decency. Cohn delighted in going after homosexuals and destroying their lives while being a homosexual himself. They were the most vile hypocrites the world had ever known. McCarthy incapable of feeling shame, drank himself to death after he was humiliated as the coward he was. I sat there thinking about this as the full horror of what happened at Chernobyl unfolded. The entirety of the Russian government played out exactly like Trump having all of his cabinet praising his greatness, it was vulgar, it was disgusting. Then I remembered all the other dictators I've read about in history who surrounded themselves with sycophants. Martin Bormann being the reference example who served Hitler so faithfully. Bormann was a slack-jowled imbecile who was barely qualified to lick stamps but nobody in the Reich dare cross the thug because he was Hitler's favorite yes man. I remember that day Trump's cabinet took turns telling Trump how honored they were to serve under his super terrifically awesomeness and that they were but boot-licking sycophants. Pence really had to lather up Trump's ass before he could muster a vulgar enough kiss to satisfy that insidious git. I sat thinking that this was the lowest moment in the history of the Republic. What separated them from the Soviet Central Committee under Gorbechev? Not a damn thing. They *all* lie for a living and kiss the dear leader's ass. It was the most unAmerican thing ever done in the White House. It was sheer cowardice by each and every single one of them. Any man who had a lick of honor would have walked out in disgust to save what's left of their honor. The *only* one who got out of this administration with any was General Mattis. And you can see this cult in all of its terrible glory if you just glance at any of the stories coming in from visitors to the concentration camps now open on United States' soil. There are zero testimonials from any objective visitor who says conditions are fine. Last Thursday a government Lawyer argued to 3 appellate judges that giving toothbrushes and toothpaste were luxury items not to be afforded for the $700-$800 a day American tax payers are paying private prison companies to house these thousands of misdemeanor offenders. Republicans have strenuously objected to calling these 'detention centers' 'concentration camps' because nothing offends cult members like the truth about what they are really do. Ask any Scientologist if you're not positive of this undeniable fact. Children are living outside, locked up and fully exposed to the elements without food and running water because the man who concocted this policy is a 32-year-old psychopath named Stephen Miller who has devised schemes to strip parents of their children as a 'deterrent' from coming to the US. I remember wondering as I read The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich how so many people were duped into voting Hitler into office and here I am now witnessing it. I see right wing lunatics actually calling people 'Antifa' as if it is some slur. "Antifa'' meaning 'anti-fascist.' They seem wholly unaware that Americans won a war against fascism because we were all against what the Axis was doing. What the nazis knew was that they needed to control the press. What modern fascists like Rupert Murdoch have learned is that it is easier to control the masses with propaganda and to do that is to obey Goebbels' edict to 'accuse the other side for what you are guilty of.' This is where Republicans are now. There is no Republican party anymore. It is a cult of personality except it isn't Hitler being exalted by the hoards of half-literate morons, it's Trump. Trump lies to them and they breath in his lies and they repeat them with a religious fervor because none of them are aware that for each lie they tell, they incur a debt to the truth. The President has committed election fraud, violated the emoluments clause and committed more acts of obstruction of justice than can be counted in full view of the American people and the sad fact of the matter is nothing is being done about it. The Republican cult doesn't even want to pretend like they don't want the Russians involved in the next election. They've done exactly nothing to safeguard our elections from Russian interference because they are so easily bought by Putin that they aren't going to do a damn thing to stop someone who is trying to help them win elections. I don't know what it takes before the people take to the streets but if opening up concentration camps isn't appalling enough to put the spurs in then nothing will. This is how it was done, the chipping away of normalcy with outrage after outrage until insanity became the new normal because as Voltaire so presciently said, 'anyone who can make you believe absurdity can make you commit atrocities.' Little children are locked up outside in the elements without so much as a blanket to protect them. They have no rights to anything because the courts are so overwhelmed with cases now that it will take many years before any of these refugees get a hearing. They're standing children up in front of a judge without a lawyer to defend themselves against imaginary crimes of crossing a line on a rock turning 35,000 mph in a small solar system. Republicans stole a supreme court seat and they will continue to lie, cheat and steal to remain in power. That's why Mitch has delivered over 100 carefully selected members of the Heritage Society to fill vacant judicial posts because he does not care about our democracy, he cares about power. As many Republicans have said, they only need someone to sign stuff, they don't care who. Trump is perfect for their agenda and democracy has never been on their agenda, usurping it is. 20 years of Murdoch's brainwashing has gotten us to this point and if anyone really believed in justice in this country, the heads of everyone at Fox would be rolling down main street as a lesson to future ambitious propagandists who mean to undermine our nation as that rogue Australian has done more than any other. Blood is already being spilled in these concentration camps. Remember how awful the social climate was, after Donald Trump was elected?

Right wingers were threating Left wingers as if they were nothing, but screaming brats and Left wingers were acting as if they were oppressed by the Right wingers when that was wrong. 2016 was the year when the term “SJW” really became popular alongside “Bigot“ and people were calling each other “Racist”, “Sexist”, “Cuck”, whatever comes through your mind.

There is far more than that to unpack. Left wing groups and Right wing groups became far more aggressive and dangerous. I am talking about the likes of Antifa, The Proud Boys, The March Against Marxism, New Black Panther Party, Unite The Right Rally, etc and they allowed extremists to infiltrate said groups. Antifa has literal Communists (Call them Tankies if you will) while the three other Right wing groups have literal Nazis in them, but that aside it is funny to see these groups became infiltrated by literal scum of the earth after the social climate became extremely toxic ever since Donald Trump was elected. Do not get me wrong, it is not the fault of Trump, it is not something he can control. No, it is the fault of all the clowns that voted for him and Hillary Clinton while the former is a businessman who knows nothing about politics, except the economy, the latter is a sociopath that wanted to start WW3 with Russia. All this extremism led to the Charlottesville incident, the Andy Ngo incident, the Mosque shooting and many more incidents between political figures and people who had no involvement in any of this (In the instance of the Mosque shooting, it was a far Right extremist shooting harmless Muslims, yikes).

To this day, Antifa activists still assault people they disagree with, rather than target what they named themselves after, Fascists, and the March Against Marxists guys still assault people they disagree with, rather than target the people they named themselves after, Marxists. And all of that is because of what people label other people, they label one another “Fascists” or “Marxists”, so they can be targeted by either Antifa or The March Against Marxism. As I said, it is because people became extremely toxic after Trump won. As a result, people cannot stop labeling each other with stupid stuff like “SJW“, “Bigot“, “Cuck“, “Racist“, and I can go on and on with the labels. Feel free to read about witch-hunting because this whole shit is just people witch-hunting one another.

“But Trump is not gonna win this time, I’m voting for Bernie Sanders.“ You really think this is gonna solve anything? If Trump loses, the Right wing will go apeshit. If Trump wins, the Left wing will go apeshit. It is a lose-lose situation. I have absolutely no reason to be optimist about your vote and it does not help that people like Tim Pool keeps saying “There is gonna be a civil war!“ once per week because it certainly does not mitigate it.

That will certainly happen at some point, but my point here is that everytime Tim Pool or anyone else for that matter opens their damn mouth about civil wars, everyone in their respective comment section starts threatening to pull a weapon if the opposition comes near them. For that matter, a lot of Conservatives are watching Tim Pool (Maybe there are other political affiliations as well I dunno) and their opposition are Progressives. This shit is just horrible and I will stay pessimistic until the very end, nothing smells good about that election. I hope for a miracle!

Also, I will hate this year for three other personal reasons:

1. Microsoft will stop supporting Windows 7, the OS I used since ever because of how powerful and user-friendly it was. Microsoft has pushed its customers to buy Windows 10 for years now which is complete spyware. The only alternative aside from Windows 7 is either Windows 8.1 or ReactOS which is not finished yet and is not yet usable.

2. Adobe will stop supporting Flash Player. I used this a lot to play online games and watch animations and all. The death of flash is allegedly caused by the arrival of HTML5. I do not hate HTML5 because it is handy and works perfectly fine within your browser (heck, a game I love, Crosscode, was made using HTML5), but it still saddens me that Adobe does not try to keep the player working. There was another player that was called shockwave player that had the exact same fate like one decade ago. I never had the luck to try it out, so I do not feel anything toward it, but if you were one of those people that used to play a lot of games on shockwave, now I feel you.

3. Two words: Youtube, COPPA. I am not gonna say that COPPA is a bad thing because it is not, but since Youtube is being as incompetent as ever they will punish the creators for something that is their own fault in stead of trying to find a solution to protect the kids browsing the website. But let’s be honest, it is also the fault of the parents, children should not have a Youtube channel and within the guidelines it is explicitly forbidden for kids under 13 to make videos. Lastly, was not there an app called “Youtube kids“? Why do the parents let their kids watch on the normal Youtube app?

This year will just suck for me and it will likely suck for everyone who’s reading this and that is because of the elections in the US, I cannot see this whole year going any better than 2016.

Noticed someone citing that Kirby vs. Fascist Phone-Trollers anecdote on your other page, and I think they missed a crucial bit: Jack was not *initiating* violence. He wasn't trawling the block with a crowbar, intent on clubbing the next blue-eyed kid who sorta seemed to fit the bill. He was *responding* to a mealy-mouthed calling-out, and while I'm sure he would've thrown down if said shitheads had stuck around, that still isn't the Righteous Pre-emptive Aggro(C) being flogged by this pundit.

I generally try to avoid politics on this blog, but since this current situation is tied into comics as well as politics, I give to you a comic history lesson:

Back during World War II, the majority of the American public was in fact initially opposed to punching Nazis.

Seriously! The fighting over in Europe was viewed as “those silly Europeans are at it again the way they have been for the past several centuries really”. It was Somebody Else’s Problem Certainly Not America’s Problem.

Meanwhile, the Holocaust was at the time not something widely known outside of the populations being affected, and even those who did know often didn’t believe it was true or as bad/extensive as it was claimed to be. Plenty of countries, including America, were resistant to taking in Jewish or other Holocaust refugees.

It was not until Pearl Harbor got attacked that the Americans switched to approving of punching Nazis, because at that point it was a matter of literally self-defense. That is when punching Nazis became seen as OK: not because Nazis were horrible people, but because they punched us first.

So when the folks at Marvel created that iconic picture of Captain America punching Nazis? That was a radical statement back then. That was a very, very ballsy, controversial thing to do. That was Jewish creators saying before Pearl Harbor, “This should be America’s problem to address, dammit!” at a time when they were the only Americans being affected and so the majority of Americans didn’t care. It was not something taken as granted to cheer on, and if the Jewish folks had gone around back punching Nazis just for being jerks they would have been viewed unfavorably and arrested for assault and battery.

And as you say, even that iconic moment people talk about wasn’t Kirby going around punching Nazis just for saying rotten things, that was Kirby threatening to engage in self-defense towards someone who made a threat of violence against him first.

Plus ironically that threat was made in response to the statement of a Captain America punching Hitler, because, again, the majority of the American public didn’t see that as a thing we should be doing, though only a minority were as big jerks about their disapproval as that guy who threatened Kirby.

Because you see, the thing is: Superhero comics are a fantasy. They are a fantasy where generally the bad guys are obviously bad guys you have a moral license to punch and the good guys are the people with the moral license to do the punching. ***

But the real world doesn’t work that way, especially in this era. Social, political, and economic power often matter more than physical power. And too many the people with social, political, and economic power are morally terrible people. And those terrible people can and will wield that social, political, and economic power against you, successfully, if you ever punch them in a way that doesn’t look good to the general public that fuels their power.

Because, I mean, Nick Spencer is left-wing! Like, the guy has constantly showed left-wing sensibilities and politics. A large part of his Sam Wilson run has involved sticking it to the right and promoting leftist ideas, to the point where he even pissed off Fox News for a time, and Nick Spencer has frequently expressed left-wing sentiments on his own time. Making Cap a Nazi was even borne in part from the classic far-left belief that all patriotic white people must be white supremacists. So this sudden idea that Nick Spencer is right-wing is totally and utterly bizarre when compared to the facts of what Spencer has historically stated and promoted.

No, the fact that Nick Spencer is saying punching people for talking is bad should tell you “the majority of the American public will view you as morally bad for engaging in violence for reasons other than self-defense”, not “Spencer somehow got a magic brain transplant and did an instant 180 to become right-wing”. ****

People like to complain about respectability politics, but the cold hard truth and reality is that politics is in the end a PR game. It’s a PR game where the people who get the best PR among people who go out and actually vote are the people who get into office and become able to pass policies. And it’s a PR game where the politicians choose to pass or veto policies based in large part on what will curry favor with the people who get them into office.

So the cold hard truth and reality is that being morally and/or factually right does not always mean anything. No matter how morally and factually right it might be to punch Nazis, if it’s not seen as socially right (and therefore usually also politically and/or economically right), you will lose and be punished.

So you then have to ask yourself whether the consequences of your group losing and being punished are worth the satisfaction of “morally justified” violence. And since the consequences for this round of the left losing socially was putting into power Republicans who fully intend to do things that will badly harm lots of people, I feel the answer is no, losing socially is not a fair trade for being morally right.

Then add onto all of that the problem that the group of people calling for violence against terrible people are often the same group of people notoriously terrible at discerning who is and isn’t really a terrible person. This is a group of people which has a historical record of continually strawmanning and twisting things people say, of profiling people based solely on their headgear and clothing and facial hair, of doing things like hypocritically saying that your skin color or sex or orientation alone automatically makes you inherently bigoted or other negative assessments. So on top of going around punching people for reasons other than self-defense being generally not a good idea, these people who want to punch Nazis these people may not even necessarily correctly discern who should be punched.

So all in all, please don’t invoke the ghost of Kirby to go around saying you should punch people for speech alone, especially since one more point: That iconic Kirby moment people talk about is Kirby having to respond to someone wanting to punch him for speech alone.

No, the real, successful way to fight the Nazis and other scum right now is to build your own social, economic, and political power high enough to fight them on their own battlefield unless they degenerate things into physical violence. Because only then will you get to punch awful people and still come out of it on top in the ways that ultimately matter logistically.

I won’t respond to any replies on this account to this specific post, FYI, partly because I don’t want political discourse to take over this blog, and partly because quite frankly most of what I’ve said here is simply reporting fact and the rest I feel logically follows from that fact, so there’s very little of this I view as up for debate anyway.

Stop Crying for Boris Johnson

In the middle of the Corona Virus pandemic, the Prime Minister was taken into intensive care for what until then seemed like a case of skiving more than full-on sickness.  The weirdest and saddest sight has been left-wing commentators, activists or just wet people on Twitter and the like feeling a need to write support for Boris Johnson. The reason for doing so are more about a cultural weakness than any real commitment.  More out of fear of judgement because, after all, who with any decency could really care about Boris Johnson?

This idiot got Corona Virus through his own actions.  The same total irresponsibility he has displayed his whole overprivileged life.  All those people in parks over the weekend we are encouraged to condemn; the prime minister is one of those, but even more ignorant because the best-informed scientific minds in the country have been telling him what needs doing for a couple of months and he ignored it.  It seems strangely appropriate that Boris Johnson may die from the thing he and his extremist advisers made such a crap job of preparing for both personally and professionally because it does not match their political ideology to act on it.  

On the 3 March he talked about shaking hands in a hospital with people probably infected with Corona.  He also wanted all of us to get Covid-19 to create a heard immunity that is not only scientifically improbable but would involve many people – your friends, loved ones and work colleges and mine – dying.  Many of them already have because the government failed to take action quickly enough and now, we see exposed the full damage that ten years of austerity has done to the NHS and wider society, all under governments of varying Conservative stripe.  We are seeing increasing numbers of NHS workers dying trying to save all our lives, while the empty gesture brigade clap them on once a week (even ones who have voted Tory).  

The media have collectively forgotten all this; because to do otherwise would mean admitting they are wrong in their political support for this totally inept and extreme government – and I am the one scoring political points here? The British media is totally broken and cares more for attacking dissenters than reporting.  The level of carelessness toward the sick is breath-taking, as the BBC evening news discusses those old and infirm or suffering pre-existing conditions as people who would ‘have dies soon anyway’ (a literal line from The Day Today).  Unlike Boris Johnson of course, who is ‘a fighter’ (indicating that all those other people killed by this bastard virus were not).

But most importantly, no one on the right – politicians, newspaper owners, supposed writers or just dickheads screaming because the BBC have not played the national anthem today – would ever extend any understanding or care toward the left; or any notion of equality.  Come the day Jeremy Corbyn dies, these fuckers will gloat like there is no tomorrow; while now they shout on social media saying ‘the left’ are hypocrites for not caring about Boris Johnson, even when you do express such misguided care.   But most importantly, left-wing campaigners and commentators are regularly threatened with death, rape and other serious violence.  We are often subjected to it too.  Whatever I write, even if mildly critical of the PM at this time will always be thrown back at me by trolls and right-wing scum.  If I express any care or sympathy, it would be sneered at and disbelieved; so you cannot win with these people, no matter what.

Yet the same media, politicians, permanently online saddos and un-fuckable freaks never stand up for us or support the freedom of speech to say you hate this government or think soldiers and police are not heroes.  When you are threatened, they agree and amplify – from a safe distance naturally, as they are all utter cowards.  As I write this, they are all over Twitter calling left wingers childish names.  With this in mind, why on earth would make the effort to kiss up to these people?  

They know perfectly well that when you give an inch to the likes of them, it’s over for you.  None of them care what you or I think in the same way I could not give a rusty fuck about their opinions – they just want the power over you.  They want to make you apologise for doing nothing wrong or over something they do not even really care about because it makes you – and us – weak.  Always on the defensive, always fighting back.  We are the ones who believe in things; the right are a gaggle of scumbags who love only their own enrichment at the expense of those most vulnerable.

They wish they could suppress the left, like Orban or Duterte, among their fascist heroes.  But our political movement, for all the faults, has always been too strong and right to be repressed.  Really, they want us to die, preferably in the most violent ways possible and with a dose of sexual violence if you are a woman.  When you simper to them, what do you really imagine this achieves?  

While I rarely wish anyone suffering, I do not care about Boris Johnson. With or without Corona Virus running around his bloodstream, he is still a racist, homophobic, flag-waving twat who is responsible for poverty, injustice and death in Britain.  He is authoritarian, intolerant of anyone who challenges him and was involved in a situation last year with his now-pregnant partner that sounds awfully like domestic violence.  He is an awful man no matter what position he holds or where he comes from.  The best reason for his to survive is so he can go on trail for all the deaths in Britain from Covid-19 caused by him and his degenerate eugenicist adviser Dominic Cummings. This feudal-obsessed shithole of a country just bows and scrapes to the likes of him out of fear and habit.  

But still they Tweet and announce how they are ‘thinking of him and his family’. London mayor Sadiq Khan Tweets his prayers for Boris, who is an Islamophobe who refuses to investigate his political party that is full of Muslim-haters.  When fascist and far-right groups march in the UK these days (back when we were allowed outside), they have chanted the name ‘Boris’ and proclaimed him ‘their’ PM. That has never happened before.

Who do you people think you are kidding trying to make out this man has anything decent within him?  Take a look at Britain; with a failing healthcare system, increased hate crime and racist attacks, life-destroying levels of grinding poverty and a media that refuses anything other than the establishment line.  Boris Johnson has been fundamental is turning Britain into a cruel, cold failed state.  This is what you get when you send in the clowns.  These are the things we should be concentrating on changing; not a pathetic game of back-and-forth with a soulless runt of self-made human garbage.

The man who has led a government of over-privileged white power extremists has become a victim of his own actions; plain and simple.  He took on survival of the fittest; let’s see if he lives through it.

But whatever happens, do not come sniffing around here for an apology for anything I have said here; or for help whitewashing this vile man’s record.  Too many decent, innocent people have died in Britain due to Corona Virus.  Boris Johnson will not be one of them.

Listening to Elizabeth Warren reminds me of Adlai Stevenson. Are some people just too smart to be president?

Philosophically, that is to say, in terms of Democratic Socialism, Bernie Sanders and AOC are virtual clones, but all things Sanders are in the rearview mirror of AOC and her Green New Deal. Among other things, AOC is the future of the ERA.

This is an excellent question. It’s exactly why I will never run for President.

My cousin Woody ran and won and his legacy is a very mixed bag. I went to Vietnam on the basis that I was the leading edge of the League of Nations, but I live in DC to try to stay as far away from white Southern Scots Presbyterians, who represent the absolute existential core of America whte supremacy, as possible. And, as a Christian, I prefer to avoid the economics of the Anti-Christ distilled in the Pro-Live Evangelical business model they generally embrace. It’s why so many of them send their children to DC with MAGA hats instead of tin foil.

Woody was smart as hell. My dad aspired to emulate him in the way Robert E. Lee attempted to emulate George Washington. I’m pretty smart, myself, but dad is really in a different league, number one, and, number two, he was probably an NT and I’m an SP and, in many was, he was from Mars and I was from Uranus. I have learned to consciously think like the way my did did like fielding a ground ball and my odd manner of acquiring knowledge has begun to pay off in my eight decade, but it’s been a long, strange trip.

Sometimes all you can do is to be willin’ to keep on truckin’.

Any of these people running could be a potent President of the United States. The Oval Office expands the capacities of the individual by literally channeling George Washington, spiritually, as an inheritance. It just does. Lincoln may be the only individual who came to office fully formed, but even he had to complete the 2 year learning curve compelled by the US Constitution.

It takes some people longer than others. JFK was as about on track, primarily because he was a very smart person in a Adlai Stevenson as PT Boat action figure kind of way. Once upon a time, Harvard produced scholars but, since the take-over of Columbia by the SDS in 1968, it’s become more of a vocational degree, like auto mechanics and HVAC engineers, than Oxford or Cambridge. There are still very smart people going through Harvard Yard, as a proxy for the American academe, but, when it comes to grand strategy, the post-modern dialectical deconstruction of the SDS forces a choice between the two wings of the Oliver Stone version of Vietnam, John Lewis Gaddis’s Kennon Long Telegram orientation on the one hand and Victor Davis Hanson’s relentless Churchhill oriented Fascist sophistry and you end up doing stupid things like the Obama Russian sanctions. Obama is a very smart man but he let himself be misled by the advice Hillary Clinton was being fed by Robert Kagan, the co-author of the Project for the New American Century that informed the invason of Iraq.

Obama likewise came to the Oval Office fully formed, but he was prevented from fully realizing his potential by a number of things, one being Mitch McConnell’s obstructionism, as a proxy for what has become the MAGA hat coalition of white Southern Scots Presbyterians who are pulling Duck Ass Don around by his dick in the way he learned to expect from Roy Cohn. Obama had absolutely no room to manuever after Rahm Emanuel squandered Speaker Pelosi’s gavel and the majority in the Senate, legislatively. Until AOC came along, the Democrats didn’t exhibit much spine and a great deal of appeasement if not out-right ideological collaboration with Newt Gingrich’s Contract with America. That was the biggest problem he faced and he got about as much out of it as possible,

But a more significant obstacle to his personal growth was Valerie Jarrett, who shaped and maintained the cacoon in which she ensconsed him. People who think like her in the Democrat conference are the biggest danger to the Green New Deal. As a business person, she is perfectly content with the Tory Socialism and class warfare of Reaganomics. The only difference between Valerie Jarrett and Condoleezza Rice, in terms of Russia, are their political patrons. Hillary Clinton and Laura D’Angelo Tyson fall into this catagory. As the leading edge of the ERA generation, they all played the hand they were dealt and represent the rising value added of the 19th Amendment and Title IX. They are the base line from which AOC has been launched, but they have become reactionary. And that’s what may have been the most profound inhibition on Obama in becoming POTUS. I’d vote for him and Hillary again because, unlike virtually any white Southern Scots Presbyterian male with an (R) behind his name, they can learn. And will learn. It just hasn’t started yet.

Elizabeth Warren falls into this generation on some issues, but, in terms of banking and securities, she represents important, if not necessary, financial structures of the Green New Deal. Finance is probably the greatest single fallacy of Marxism and the singular seat of the essential criminal intent of the Tory Socalism and class warfare of Reganomics and the macroeconomic populism of Donald Duck Ass. A HUGE difference between America in 1981, before Reagan, and the Soviet Union in 1981 was our banking system and securities milieu, both of which have been systematically corrupted by people in the GOP Deep State I associate with Donald T. Regan, Phil and Wendy Gramm, and Newt Gingrich. There are other Republican villians in the mix, but that’s a good place to start, especially when you toss in Roger Stone, Steve Bannon and Mick Mulvaney, the sort of creme de la creme of crypto-Fascist cesspool scum. If Elizabeth Warren could pass all the banking and securites legislation she desires by 2020, she would be able to hit the ground running to implement the Green New Deal without having to thing about it all that much,

In terms of learning curve, 43 didn’t really become his own president until he fired Rumsfeld and installed Bob Gates at DoD. In that respect, he had a 6 year learning curve. Until then, Cheney had basically dictatated national policy, especially in terms of Iraq’s oil. This fig leaf of spreading democracy is just that. At best, the invasion of iraq was a blunder of cosmic proportions but my personal opinion is that it was a war crime, pure and simple. The lesson Bush should have learned from Vietnam that his daddy did was to not invade Iraq.

Clinton’s Dayton Accords is the reason why the invasion of Iraq hasn’t been a bigger disaster for America and why I say Obama fucked up the US-Russian relations on the advice of Robert Kagan. Clinton should have been given a Nobel Prize for that project because it is exactly what the Marshall Plan was all about, especially as it pertains to George Kennan’s Long Telegram.

As I say, I went to Vietnam as the leading edge of the League of Nations, keeping a family heritage alive, and as part of the triangulation of the United Nations Blue Helmet Peace Keepers, the Peace Corps and the Greet Berets. We were in Vietnam to give those collateral agendas the space and time they needed to get traction, globally. Circumstances forced America to sacrifice the Republic of Vietnam towards that end, but the result, the collapse of the Soviet Union, has worked out well for us.

And the signing of the Dayton Accords in 1995 was the fruits of that grand strategy, in that the Treaty ending the Bosnian War was the first time an active conflict was put tamped down by the tactical peace keeping of the UN Blue Helments and then smothered by the combined UN Blue Helmets/NATO intervention made possible by the Dayton Accords AND the active acquiesence, if not enthusiastic participation, by Putin’s Russia. This project occurred in the TRADITIONAL Russian sphere of influence and it couldn’t have happened if they didn’t want it to, but it seems the Russians realized they didn’t have any solutions and they were willing to try something new. And when they handed over the keys to Prestinka Airport to the NATO column being led by Wesley Clark, it represented a brand new era in international cooperation. We couldn’t have conducted our operations against Terroism in that region without the strategic easement Russia continues to provide.

And this is what Obama fucked up. And he’s a very smart guy.

In regards to Donald Duck Ass, there doesn’t seem to be any constructive learning curve operating. He’s like the entire Roger Stone wing of the GOP, who are like bank robbers who get caught and go to prison but, instead of changing their ways, learn how to become better bank robbers. For example, these sanctions against South Korea, China, India, Turkey and Japan have nothing to do with any grand strategy beyond Duck Ass Don’s need to keep the Bull Market going and high prices for gas at the pump here, in the states. provides the liquidity that’s being sucked out by the 2017 Tax Reforms the markets need to keep the party going. Duck Ass Don is still running the lie, cheat and steal “Art of the Deal” pyramid scheme he has run his entire life. He has a certain genius in a Rainman kind of way but I think he understood, intuitively, at a very early age he isn’t smart at all beyond a certain animal cunning of the Brooklyn street thug with aspirations of being an uptown made man. And probably the real problem is that he has managed to surround himself with people who are even more stupid than he is, or willng to suppress their smarts for a paycheck and the future rewards that the GOP Deep State will provided once they are out of public service in the manner of John Kasich, David Stockman, Brett Kavanaug and Bob Barr before he blundered back onto the federal payroll.

By and large, Republicans have never produced an Adlai Stevenson: it’s a Democrat thing. Bernie Sanders is an example, the difference being that Sanders helped Democrats shake off the intellectual topor that had set in after the moral impotence of the McGovern campaign: McGovern was what Bernie Sanders would have been in 2016, but that’s changed. In terms of coalition building, Sanders ishe light years ahead of where he was in 2016 and in a different universe from where McGovern or Adlai Stevenson ever became.

Philosophically, that is to say, in terms of Democratic Socialism, Bernie Sanders and AOC are virtual clones, but all things Sanders are in the rearview mirror of AOC and her Green New Deal. The trade off is that, as President, Sanders and/or Warren are smart enough to implement the Green New Deal as it emerges while AOC, if she’s smart, will inherit the Speaker’s gavel and retire after a career of providing the constancy of purpose as the Green New Deal evolves as we advance past the dawning of the Age of the 19th Amendment.

And Adlai Stevenson could never have accomplished that. He wasted a great deal of energy spinning his wheels as an intellectual. Bernie was like that until 2016 BUT AOC came out of the chute with her big wheels posi-traction digging into with big chucks of dirt and the only thing really slowing her down is the ERA generation. She is the future of the ERA.
