Lilique is honestly one of my favorite side characters, not just in Witch from Mercury, but in animes as a whole

First of all it's rare to see someone who looks so much like me in an anime, let alone one who isn't there to be a fatphobic joke

But also she's just great

Like at one point another girl challenges her to take part in a 6-on-6 duel and she's just like, "I have no idea who that person was, but because they challenged me I will definitely take part"

She's not even a pilot student, she's just immediately down to do it

Plus there's the fact that the reason this other girl challenged her was due to Lilique rejecting a boy she liked(?) (Well, he was like 14th on a list of backup boyfriends, and then she was also pissed that Lilique rejected the boy, not just that the boy asked her out), but like this isn't common in a lot of media, not just anime, to have a conventionally attractive girl considering a fat girl to be a threat to her romantic interests. It just isn't often a thing, and when it is, it is often a joke in some way, and while the scene in question is funny, it's not funny because she's fat

ideal gwitch movie sequel is like. yeah theres a new conflict, suletta pilots a new gundam aerial 2.0, they put eri in it to help her and its just like old times, etc etc but most importantly is that the comedic subplot of the movie is kicked off when nika or one of the other earth house kids asks miorine about their wedding and why they didnt get invited only for miorine to be like “oh we never had a wedding ceremony i was too busy and suletta was stuck in physical therapy and rehab” and lilique is like GASP and for the rest of the movie earth house is planning a proper wedding ceremony/reception for them which is how we finally get the onscreen wedding and kiss at the end of the film.
