having many thoughts about species in Sharran AU and wondering: what if Halsin was not an elf? Sure, you would lose that "not all elves look the same" bit, but you would also no longer have the guy who is explicitly the Most connected to nature being an elf, the species that is in D&D canon is Most Connected To Nature. What if he was an orc? Or a bugbear? Or just a human? I haven't decided yet whether I'm going to change him but I'm chewing on it.

#I could change elves too. but that feels a bit weak in this case. elves will get changes tho regardless #pretty much every species I'm keeping except maybe githyanki and humans need considerable lore changes #I'm striking half-elves and half-orcs from the list. they add nothing imo #likewise I'm just replacing all dwarves (problematic re: little people) and probably all halflings (don't like them)#with more of species that I do like like dragonborn. just imagine that I find-and-replaced all dwarves and halflings in bg3 #might replace the duergar with humans. haven't decided yet.
