#like... just cause it's a 'green' energy doesn't mean it won't have a negative impact on anything

You know... any time I see stuff about how there's a big solar project in the desert I'm just left thinking... you know that's an actual biosphere even if it's not a place we do farming or whatever... like... have you actually considered the environmental impacts or did you just plop it in the middle of a place you decided was barren and empty?
#and like I'm pro solar... though I do think we have to consider what it takes to get the metals for our electronic components#like in everything; it's an issue we need to be considering because like cobalt's great and all... but...#anyway; I'm for solar mining for metals stuff aside; but I worry that people don't consider the impacts when they do stuff like this#like... just cause it's a 'green' energy doesn't mean it won't have a negative impact on anything#not saying don't do solar; not saying don't do wind; saying make sure you really do your due diligence#hope you get my point here#I just... kinda don't like the idea of 'undeveloped areas' in general cause it's like... is that actually what it really is?#sometimes we need to build new things; but you gotta compare the costs and benefits of it#I don't know... just seeing a video on my youtube feed about how China is making an awesome solar farm in the desert#and I'm thinking about like... didn't they make one in like Nevada or something where it basically killed all the life under it?#like oopsie... turns out there is actually life in the desert#and like... the thumbnail and the name of the video implies this is on some massive scale#and like... you're forgive me if I'm not trusting this to actually be environmentally friendly instead of just an attempt to fix the grid#just think humans have a tendency to leap before they look and... I'd like to spend more time really trying to weigh what might be lost
