I don’t think the horrible takes on here are because people need to rewatch the show. I actually think a lot of them are because people are watching the same show too much. When you rewatch the same thing over and over, you begin to read too much into things and lose the overall plot. You make up things that aren’t there. You get so caught up in your own theories and interpretations that you can't see past your own ideas.
Watch other shows and movies, read books, look at art. If you just stick to one story and obsess over it too much, you lack the ability to contextualize its meaning as it compares to other media. It’s important to enjoy a variety of stories to be able to understand your favorite story. Otherwise, you’re stuck in an echo chamber. Read other perspectives. Learn how to recognize where you may misinterpret things. Learn how to criticize writing by looking at better writing. Don’t limit yourself.
#if you've seen the show so many times to the point that you're letting your bias against characters cloud your judgment you need to stop#if you think a man calling his son slurs is not abusive in the show that centers around child abuse#you need to rid yourself of the st brainrot because it's not just a quirky term anymore you actually have mold spores in your head#like you're literally spewing harmful narratives about abuse because you dislike a fictional character#extremely concerning#ok i'll shut up about this now#byler
