I sometimes like to listen to video game playthroughs while I work and let me tell you, whatever expectations I had for the sequel to rpg-maker horror game Purgatory, it was NOT what I actually received (i.e. Epic In Which A Teen Demonic Harem And Their Boyfriend Decide To Start A Revolution)

#purgatory 2 #doodles #tw blood #tbh what mostly floored me was the sheer difference in SCALE between 1 and 2 #like yeah they're still goofy Extremely Anime hack-n-slashers #but in the first game you just run around hitting monsters with very little context #and it is a fun but fairly simple time #but then in the sequel there's suddenly?? lore???#a LOT of lore even????#assorted factions of noble houses?#backstory for the weird demon-making factory??#an explanation for why the facility is full of random pools of blood???#THREE different romanceable characters????#and they're PRETTY GOOD romances even!#character arcs????????#class commentary??????????#to be clear a lot of these things are pretty ham-fisted BUT the fact is I didn't expect ANY of those things and was DELIGHTED #the ambition! the chutzpah! the commitment!#thank you game-makers I had a blast!!
