also as much as i love megatron i think that others deserved a redemption arc over him lol. i'm glad he got one, but there was always something kind of weird to me at the heavy focus on his redemption arc when others, like his victims didn't get that same love or nuance by the writing/fandom.
like starscream deserved the care and consideration of a redemption arc the same way megatron did. like yeah starscream was ruler of cybertron, but the writers weren't really committed to nay positive character growth or change. "that's just how starscream is" isn't really a good excuse when he has been shown in tons of contiuums to be a better person who at least treads the line of moral ambiguity.
prowl even deserved some type of redemption arc and not to be overly hated by megatron's fans. like a lot of people who hate prowl and hold him accountable for everything also stan and act like megatron is innocent and that he didn't cause mass genocide. like of course, megatron was a victim of abuse and slavery, he deserved to rise up against his oppressors, but he still did a lot of bad things. how come he gets to be a moral compass. megatron also got help, he had a strong support system/family that alot of other people didn't have.
i LOVE that megatron got a redemption arc but he didn't have to, IN MY OPINION, work for it that hard.
Like yes he had the trial, but he was really the master of his own fate. he got to look for the knights that didn't even exist, he got to remake his rebellion in the functionalist universe, he got to be a medic, and then when that all was done, when millions of years were given to him, then, he returned and face judgement.
i always think that people like prowl and starscream deserved a better narrative ending.
