this is so wild like just because she was in the IDF at the time suddenly she’s personally responsible for everything the IDF did? do y’all even have a record of her military history like how many bombings did she directly participate in I’m genuinely curious?
lots of countries have drafts but it seems to me like it’s only ever israelis who get targeted for not personally objecting and I wonder why that is. I’m obviously not trying to defend the actions of the israeli military lmao but it’s soooo suspect how it’s only EVER israelis who are suddenly personally responsible for the actions of their government. do you really think that if she’d abstained from service, she wouldn’t be getting blacklisted? (for that matter, would she even have a career in that case?) I just like, am totally astounded that y’all who are supposedly so politically conscious suddenly wanna insist that this was anything other than an expressly anti-israeli political statement on the part of lebanon. it’s hypocritical honestly, I mean like, nobody is out here calling the US military a terrorist organization, but if you wanna apply that label to the israeli military you really have no excuse for not doing so. does that make every US citizen who pays taxes a supporter of our nation’s terrorism abroad? and how come when it comes to young people in the US getting recruited into the military through a combination of propaganda and economic necessity y’all have plenty of pity for them or are at least willing to understand their actions as those of misguided individuals, rather than the driving force behind the government and its military machinery?
i’m gonna be honest, there is no excuse for being so goddam superficial in your critiques of the state of israel and ESPECIALLY of zionism as a political philosophy (because the two aren’t synonymous!) other than antisemitism. you CANNOT simply disparage the actions the state of israel takes (or not even, you’re disparaging one person on behalf of the state which is even stupider lol) without also critiquing the global political system that brought it into existence. to be anti-zionist is to be anti-nationalist, period. it is to reject the global political architecture that currently exists and up from which people build their sense of identity and cultural legitimacy and assert their agency as a group. that is to say, it is to reject the nation-state.
if you’re too much of a wimp to do that, and if you dont expend an equal amount of effort decrying the evils of other militarized nation-states as you do disparaging israel, you’re just an antisemite lmao.
Also, refusing to serve in the IDF is a thing.
#god why are antizionist goyim always so fucking bad at it lmao#it's almost like their sense of moral superiority is the only thing they care about and aren't actually invested in antizionism#like every american celebrity who ''supports the troops'' is responsible for the deaths of thousands of children now. got it.#like i'm by no means trying to argue she's a good person or these are good actions obvs but liek#think about what you're saying#like she didn't singlehandedly birth the israeli propaganda machine ffs#and do all y'all complaining about her even know the names of the israeli generals making these military decisions?#how many israeli politicians do you know other than like. netanyahu.#I mean how much do you actually know about who is responsible for these actions?#i'm gonna take a wild guess: nothing#like just going after one cog in the propaganda machine is. so performative lmao#which makes sense in the case of lebanon i mean this is a performative gesture of anti-israeli sentiment#but it sure as hell ain't activism lmaooo
