just saw a post on reddit (i know but bear with me) of this person like "hey! i've been friends with this person since i was 10 and she was 7! our families knew eachother, and we grew up together! now i'm 20 and shes 17, my friends said its weird and i have to stop being friends with her" along those lines and i'm just. astonished at this mindset recently of "under 18 is a literal child that needs to be kept away from adults at all cost and everyone 18 and older is a danger to children"
like idk if this is some weird evolution of "stranger danger" but i think if we as a society spent more energy teaching kids and teens red flags to look out for instead of "you have to stop being friends with anyone younger than you the day you turn 18" people would be a lot more equipped to avoid dangerous situations in the first place.
