I think a big part comes to formatting
years ago, before Netflix n stuff, you had to wait for weekly releases, like 1 episode per week, 22 episodes per season, so things took a looot longer
and fans had much more time in between to process stuff, discuss and create fan content, and there where a lot less channels to watch stuff on, time slots were limited
now you have seasons that come every 2-4 years (if at all in some cases) and you can binge watch in a week or two, like, there's a reason Netflix only uses the first month as base for data comsuption, and there's a ton of series, movies or wtv coming out, you can access more stuff than ever before from all across the globe and it's never been easier
so yeah, no, there's over abundance, a lot of ppl don't give a crap about fandom stuff, cause they can jump to the next thing right fucking now
I feel like a lot of fandom content was generated to fill that vacuum between releases, now that it's not longer a need, some ppl just cross the bridge and get interested in something else, and hey, that's fine
and of course platforms like twt, ig, tiktok, help with that, you constantly see things trending, and hashtags, and reels and challenges and wtv the fuck else kids do these days, and media gets vastly affected for it
I'm not saying it's worse or better, just different, on one hand, yeah fandom spaces are fickle and have huge fluctuations, but I feel like the ppl who stay are the ones that would engage and create more content anyways
on the other, the sheer amount of stuff you can watch is amazing, like 15 years ago was a pain in the ass if you wanted to watch a, idk a Thai series, now you can just pressing a few buttons and that's beautiful
and hey, if you are worried about consuming media like fast food, then... don't, that's up to you, but you can't change how others engage with content, and if you wish for more fan content? well, that's up to you too, might be kinda lonely sometimes, but with enough digging any fandom can have a few deranged passionate fans
personally I think it’s a shame how fandoms “died” too soon these days. I’m not talking in literal sense and I know there are people who stay passionate about their fandoms long after the hype is gone. I’m talking about the “popularity” and how people in general engage with a piece of media they like and how fast they let the hype die down? I don’t know if I’m making any sense, but what I’m trying to say is a fanfic or a fan art of a show that is recently released will get tons of likes, comments, reblogs which is great. but the engagement for fan made content about that same show usually drops drastically — and I mean drastically — once the show is no longer “recent”. and I’m not even talking about when the show is several years old. because you can see the significant drop of engagement a fanfic or fan art about that show receives once the show is like a month old or two. it’s discouraging how most people tend to lose interest and stop engaging with fanfic / fan art once its source material is no longer “new and shiny”.
especially when writing fanfics and creating fan art take time. writers and artists often receive less engagement / appreciation for their works if they take “too long” to create and the source material is no longer “new and shiny” and so people move on to something else that’s new and shiny. it’s heartbreaking to see.
obviously this is in no way to manipulate or guilt trip people into engaging with anything. because yeah you can do whatever you want. this isn’t to force, manipulate or guilt trip anyone into liking or reblogging a fan work or anything. this is just me hoping people will one day take things slower and enjoy things they’re passionate about longer like how we used to in the past.

as soft as the rain, pretty as a vine
pairing: aaron hotchner/fem!bau!reader w.c.: 6k a/n: inspired by that one gifset of hotch desperately needing some moisturizer on his neck im so sorry. also my first time writing hotch's pov, pls be gentle. c.w.: fluff! friends to lovers, kinda sunshine/girly!reader, mutual pining, alcohol mention, author pretending like they know about skincare, hotch is whipped and touch starved af, no y/n
summary:
You think Hotch needs to take better care of himself. Hotch doesn't know what to think. Or, 5 times you teach Hotch about skincare more than he wants to and 1 time he teaches you.
read below or ao3 here
one.
When Hotch first walks into the conference room ready to go over a new case, there’s something different that he can’t quite put his finger on.
Words dying in his throat, he sweeps his eyes over the entire room and doesn’t see anything significantly out of place. Then he’s passing over everyone’s faces, mentally keeping a note on how exhausted most of them are looking, and then landing on you.
Having only joined a couple of months ago, you were still fairly new to the team. However, with your sunny disposition and eagerness to learn, you blended right in. Hotch had watched in amusement as you were able to keep up with Reid’s ramblings, Morgan’s flirting, and Garcia’s antics. You were insightful, able to give new perspectives that Hotch would never have even considered, patient with victims and their families, and Hotch admired you for that.
Today, however, you look considerably suspicious as you give him a sheepish smile and a little wave. “Morning, Hotch,” you say, eyes sparkling, followed by a round of greetings from the rest of the team.
“Morning.” And then he spots a machine on the table near the wall, shaped and designed like a cat and spouting off what looks like steam at a steady and continuous rate.
Now that he’s noticed it, he realizes the conference room feels significantly stickier, the sudden humidity a stark contrast to the dry winter air outside. He can sense the slight congestion he’s been waking up to the past several months gradually disappearing.
“It’s a humidifier,” you explain after spotting the slightly confused expression Hotch was wearing, as if he’s never seen one before. To be fair, he doesn’t think he’s seen one in years as Haley was usually the one who dug it out of storage when Jack wasn’t feeling well. “I brought it from home, I thought it was a little dry in here. Is that okay?”
“I hope so, I was worried about getting a nosebleed the other day.”
“It’s good to have it around during this time of year, Hotch. Did you hear Anderson coughing this morning?”
“It’s also beneficial to have one on while you sleep, both with the white noise and being able to clear your sinuses and breathe easier with its optimal humidity levels.”
Truthfully, Hotch doesn’t care and he’s sure there isn’t some ridiculous regulation about not allowing a small humidifier, especially when Garcia has two space heaters in her office that you’ve had to ask to borrow at least twice a week.
However, the way you’re glancing up at him now from your spot at the round table, eyes wide and fluffy pink scarf wrapped around you because you apparently run colder than the rest of the team, Hotch would probably let you get away with anything.
He immediately sets that thought aside, not wanting to dwell on exactly what that means right now. He takes the only empty seat left that just happened to be right next to you, making sure to keep a respectable distance. “It’s fine. Just make sure to turn it off and empty it before we go.”
You give him a blinding smile that momentarily distracts him from the bubbling humidifier and the clouds of mist that are nearly falling into his face. “Sure thing. Did you know that it can also help with dry skin? So technically, we’re just taking care of our bodies if they ask why we need it.”
Although it makes sense now that he thinks about it, Hotch didn’t know that. He also doesn’t remember the last time he put on lotion or moisturizer, no matter how dry his hands felt.
Just then, Garcia wobbles in with her yellow heels and coffee mug, immediately launching into the brutal details of the case and where the team will be headed out to for the next couple of days.
When Hotch gets up to grab his go-bag from the office, he tries to ignore how it feels like he can breathe a little bit easier.
two.
“God, it’s freezing in here.”
Hotch glances up from his laptop mid-report to witness you taking the seat next to his with a resounding oof. You’re wrapped up in a blanket that you had brought from home that has somehow taken permanent residence on the jet, shivering despite the heater being on full blast. The corner of it lands on his knee, soft and warm.
The team had just finished a case in rural Montana, surrounded by mountains of snow and the wilderness. You had remembered to pack warmly at least, as Hotch had witnessed you struggling to take off the several layers of sweaters every time you arrived at the precinct. He remembers frowning in the car on the way to apprehend the unsub as you shivered in the passenger seat, having had to wear only a layer or two due to the bulky Kevlar vest and needing to be quick on your feet.
“It’ll warm up here in a second,” Hotch says, already wracking around his brain to see if there was another blanket hidden in a compartment somewhere. “A cup of tea will probably help.”
You slouch down further in your seat, cocooning yourself even further under the thick blanket. “I don’t want to get up.”
Hotch is almost tempted to lock his computer and get up to make you that cup of tea himself, however he glances around the cabin and notices several knowing pairs of eyes on him. He doesn’t have to be a profiler to know what the rest of the team thinks—that he’s gone soft on you.
You with your fuzzy blue blanket wrapped around your shoulders like a cape and the thick socks that you put in your bag specifically for the plane ride home. He knows he’s not imagining the lingering glances you throw at Hotch or the way you occasionally stay late as an excuse to bother him in his office.
And he doesn’t necessarily mind. There’s a strange, innate pull that tugs in his stomach when it comes to you, causing him to watch you more carefully and seeking out your presence at almost every opportunity. The sheer grip of panic on his heart when you were shot after taking down an unsub by yourself and without backup several months ago had Hotch re-evaluating everything he knew about himself.
He’s aware of the possible repercussions, which is exactly why Hotch has learned to be patient when it comes to you, who has threatened him to forgo his patience altogether with every bubbly laugh he can hear from his office or knock of your shoulders against his in the conference room.
So he doesn’t get up to make you that cup of tea despite knowing how you take it with a splash of milk and two sugars, and instead turns back to finish the action report.
It’s only several minutes later when he notices you rummaging around in your bag out of the corner of his eye before you pull out a small and colorful lotion bottle with a triumphant noise. You pop the cap open and slather some on your hands before you’re turning to face Hotch again, the novel that Reid recommended to you untouched on the table. “Do you want some?”
The bottle in your hand looks somewhat familiar, most likely something he’s passed by at the store or on your desk, but Hotch balks at the pink flowers painted all over the bottle. He’s lucky the undoubtedly suffocating smell hasn’t hit him yet. “I’m fine, thanks.”
But you don’t put the lotion back in your bag, instead shifting in your seat until you’re fully facing him. Your blanket is nearly draped over Hotch’s thigh. “Are you sure? You know, it’s really important to make sure your hands are moisturized, especially with how cold it is here.”
He doesn’t know why you’re so adamant about this, peering up at him with bright and eager eyes and the open lotion bottle poised over his hands. He’s never liked putting on lotion, or any kind of creams, as it always made his hands feel uncomfortably greasy. He would eventually wash it off anyway.
He turns his attention back to his laptop, yet wordlessly puts a hand out towards your direction.
He thinks you’re going to pour a generous dollop and let him rub his own hands together, but instead, he nearly jumps in his seat when you’re grabbing onto his hand with both of yours and slathering whatever’s leftover on your hands into his palms and the back of his hands.
Your hands are cold, even moreso than his, but the sharp tingle that runs up his arm at your touch causes something warm to bloom in his chest.
“I didn’t want to waste it,” you respond to the confusion on his face. You’re thorough; making sure to slather the cream in between his fingers and even down to his wrists. He senses the sneaking glances the rest of the team are throwing his way, maybe even smug, but he’s painstakingly distracted by the way your hands look in his, the way he can feel both of your hands gradually warming up.
And then you’re pulling away, and Hotch suddenly misses your tender touch.
Like he expected, his palms suddenly feel gross, unpleasantly slippery like he has oil all over them. He wants to rub his palms on his pants or go wash his hands, but your watchful eyes stop him.
And then it hits him—  the sudden scent of you, floral with some hints of vanilla, overwhelming his senses. It’s undeniably the same scent as your perfume, the one that seems to linger every time you stride past him at the office or when you’re leaning over Hotch to laugh at something Morgan said. Now, it causes him to sharply inhale, chest feeling unnervingly tight as he unconsciously marks it to his memory.
You’re still watching him with an expectant smile, bottle stored away in your bag for you to pull out again after you’ve gotten up to use the restroom and used the cheap hand soap that you’ve repeatedly complained about before. You look unfazed, as if your simple touch hasn’t sent Hotch’s brain reeling.
“It’s nice,” Hotch manages to say, voice only slightly strained. The smell is not as strong as he expected, but it’s still doing strange things to his heart more than he’d like to admit.
If possible, your smile widens. “Just nice?”
“Well, I don’t think it’s quite my signature scent.”
You hum and turn away, picking up your book despite Hotch knowing you’re not going to read a single page of it today, the spine already creased from where you’ve been laying it face down multiple times over the past month. “No, your signature scent already fits you.”
Hotch says nothing, not entirely sure how to respond to that, but your attention is already caught by the game of cards Reid and Emily are playing several seats away. You immediately set your novel down and scramble up and out of your seat to be their enthusiastic audience, leaving a trail of vanilla behind you.
Hotch immediately misses the warmth of your blanket.
three.
“What are you looking for now?”
You’ve been digging through your bag, your pink personal one that’s almost as big as your go bag, for the past five minutes. Hotch can hear the various items clinking around and the crinkling of multiple old receipt papers as you curse under your breath. He frowns, tempted to encourage you to clean out your bag if only to make packing more convenient for you. He couldn’t count the number of times you’ve exclaimed on the jet that you had forgotten something.
The team had gotten called to another small rural town in North Dakota for an unsub that’s been killing during the protective guise of blizzards, which is why Hotch was driving so painstakingly slow that Morgan would’ve surely had an aneurysm if he was in the same car. Despite the roads having already been salted, there was still a concerning amount of ice on the roads that had Hotch sitting ramrod straight in his seat and gripping the steering wheel so hard his knuckles were nearly turning white.
Luckily, it was only you and Hotch in the car, heater on full blast. You’re wearing at least three sweaters today with your coat draped over your legs and haven’t even complained once about it being too cold, citing how you’ve never seen this much snow before in your life. Hotch found it all extremely endearing watching you nearly jump in your seat at how the evergreen trees looked covered in snow. Like a Christmas movie, you had said.
“Found it!” You pull out a travel sized bottle of sunscreen, hurriedly twisting the cap open to squeeze and draw lines down three fingers.
Hotch glances at you out of the corner of his eye, brow furrowed in confusion at your strange method. “Sunscreen? Are we going to the beach?”
“God, I hope not. I didn’t think to pack a swimsuit.” You roll your eyes while slathering the cream on your forehead, cheeks, down your neck, and even strangely over your ears before rubbing the rest on the back of your hands.
Hands tightening on the steering wheel, Hotch clears his throat. “I didn’t expect you to be so invested in your skin health.”
“It’s called skincare, Hotch,” you tease, screwing the cap back on but suspiciously leaving it out on your lap. “And it’s important to take care of your skin. Did you know that snow reflects UV rays, so even during winter you should put on sunscreen?”
Hotch chuckles before he could stop himself. “You’re starting to sound like Reid.”
“Did you want some?” You’re twisting your body again to face Hotch, eyes sparkling despite it being horribly dreary and cloudy outside.
The only times Hotch has worn sunscreen was during especially hot summer days when he took Jack to the park or to go swimming. He’s seen you apply sunscreen in the office even when it was raining outside and the sun wasn’t forecasted to come out that day. He’s grown to learn not to ask questions.
“I’m okay, thanks.” The answer’s immediate, partly because he doesn’t need sunscreen and partly because he is concentrating on not crashing into a ditch.
“Come on, Hotch, it’s good for you!” He knows this is exactly the same thing you said on the jet several weeks ago, and since then, every time you’re putting on lotion and he’s somewhere in the near vicinity, you’re already squeezing some on his hands before he could respectfully decline. Luckily, you haven’t tried to apply it for him again.
You’re incredibly stubborn and Hotch wonders if you’re persuading the rest of the team to invest in expensive and fruity-smelling creams in an effort to have everyone properly take care of their bodies like you are with him.
“Alright.” And then he’s pulling his foot off the gas pedal just a bit to compensate for the distraction of having to put his hand out, desperately hoping you’re not going to lean over to apply it to his own face.
You luckily don’t squeal in excitement like he expected, just silently squirting the cream into careful and meticulous lines on his three fingers. Hotch can tell it’s definitely more of an expensive brand than what he was used to during the summer—lightweight and smelling like nothing.
Hotch carefully slathers it onto his face, starting at his forehead, down his nose, and then out to his cheeks and his chin. There’s still quite a lot left on his fingers and he remembers how you made sure to spread some on your neck, so Hotch does the same thing. However, he is definitely not going to put some on his ears.
Satisfied, you put the sunscreen away and twist as best as you could underneath your thick layers to put your bag in the backseat, because the floor of the car was too wet from the snow from your shoes.
“Happy?” Hotch’s face inexplicably feels greasier than he would like, but it’s not as bad as the vanilla-scented lotion or the cheap sunscreen laying forgotten in his closet. It’s already absorbed into his skin and when he rubs a hand along his jaw, he realizes that it must have had some moisturizer in it as well because his face feels softer than he was used to.
“Ecstatic,” you say, turning your face towards the window to hide the wide grin spreading across your face.
four.
The fourth time Hotch learns about skincare from you was completely and utterly by accident.
It had been a long and brutal couple of days chasing a serial in Tennessee, one that had nearly as much technological experience as Garcia. He had been two steps ahead of them until tonight, when they had finally caught a break and caught him before he could take any more women to hold hostage.
The all-consuming relief was palpable during dinner at the hotel restaurant despite the underlying knowledge that the same thing was going to happen next week. Conversation flowed, drinks were had, and Hotch was adamantly ignoring the fleeting looks you were throwing his way across the table.
Hotch and you had been dancing around each other for months, tension so tangible that the rest of the team were starting to feel uncomfortable. He’s been able to brush off Dave’s sly remarks in the privacy of his office, Morgan and Emily’s raised eyebrows tossed in his direction at every interaction he had with you, and Garcia’s elbow jabs at every possible second when you were in the room.
It's been frustrating for him, to say the least. He can’t tell them that he can’t make that choice for you, that he’s too conscious to not cross any of those professional boundaries himself. If that means that Hotch has to wait for several more months for you to make the first move, if that even happens, then so be it.
When Hotch watches the way you throw your head back in laughter at something Dave says at dinner, eyes bright and face slightly flushed from the wine, he thinks he’d be willing to wait as long as you wanted.
After being nearly kicked out of the restaurant from being too rowdy and Hotch hinting at being able to take the rest of tomorrow off once they fly back in town early, the team quietly shuffles back to their respective rooms. He knows there’s about a 50/50 chance that most of them will sneak out to a nearby bar in ten minutes, but at least he warned them ahead of time.
“Night, Hotch,” you had said, giving him a little smile and wave before your door across the hallway clicked shut.
Something warm settled in Hotch’s chest at that, so he did the most reasonable thing to cope with the unfamiliar and turned the TV on to a random news channel. With the volume on low and his laptop and files laid out on the rickety table, he got to work.
Several hours pass like that as he throws himself into the fine print, going over everyone’s action reports from last week and shuffling through old crime photos to make sure everything matched. It was a familiar process, and almost concerning with how much comfort he’s found in it—the scratch of his pen, the drone of the city several floors down, and the growing smudge of ink on his hand from his thoughts running faster than he could write.
When he gets to your report and notices it’s missing several key points of the case, as well as your loopy signature, he frowns.
The immediate thought that comes to mind would be to just put the file aside and move onto the other one. It wasn’t as if the report was due this second and he knows there were plenty of others that required more immediate attention.
The other thought that emerges, almost reluctantly, was that Hotch could easily go across the hallway and ask you to take a look at it and finish the report rather than waiting for the following morning on the jet when the rest of the team was undoubtedly going to be hungover. Prentiss was most certainly going to be cranky and demand everyone to be quiet because the hum of the jet was already grating enough. He’d just be doing the team a favor.
That’s what Hotch tells himself as he stands up from the low desk, neck and back aching, and makes his way out his room and to yours across the hall.
He briefly pauses, straining his ears as if he could hear anything through the door and over the erratic thumping of his own heart. Hotch is suddenly aware that you may be sleeping, or even out with the rest of the ladies to a sleazy bar, and he’s about to turn back around with defeat weighing heavy on his shoulders when he hears the click of the bathroom door open and your humming, faint even through the thick wooden door.
Feeling confident that he’s not disturbing you and something else Hotch can’t name at the fact that he’s going to be seeing you in the privacy of your hotel room, he raps twice against the door.
“Just a second!” And then the door swings open.
Hotch’s attention is immediately caught by the fluffy headband you’re wearing, light pink and with a comically large bow in the center. You’ve clearly just gotten out of the shower, the scent of your body wash infiltrating Hotch’s senses and causing him to tighten his grip on the files he forgot he was holding in the first place.
You’re wearing a matching set of light blue pajamas, short and clinging to your body in a way that has Hotch immediately tearing his gaze away and back to your bare face. Your lips are glossy, slicker than normal, there’s a drop of water slowly trailing down the side of your neck, and a dab of cream on your cheek that you seem to have not noticed.
“Hotch?” you ask, confused, before letting out a squeak and crossing your arms over your chest in an effort to hide your modesty. Hotch ignores the fact that it just makes everything worse. “Is everything okay? Don’t tell me there’s a case.”
The droplet of water has disappeared underneath the collar of your shirt and the scent of vanilla nearly suffocates him. “No case. Just needed to get your final touches and signature on this report.”
He hopes his voice doesn’t sound as strained to you as it does to him as he remembers why he was standing in your hotel doorway in the first place, the files in his hand suddenly weighing like a ton.
You don’t seem to notice anything wrong, if anything, a slow smile spreads across your face that has Hotch’s stomach flipping.
You look radiant, the intimacy of being near you in your pajamas when you were clearly in the middle of your nighttime routine not going unnoticed. He peers over the top of your head to notice your go bag on your bed, clothes and your personal laptop strewn all over the comforter, and the TV being tuned to what you’d call an “entertaining yet trashy show.”
“You’re still working even though you’re the one who suggested having an early night? It’s late.”
Hotch blinks at you because what else would he have done if not attempt to catch up on the seemingly never-ending pile of papers and reports? “You’re still up late too.”
You roll your eyes. “I was just about to go to bed before you knocked, so technically I have better work-life boundaries than you.”
“Do you want me to come back tomorrow?”
You study him—still wearing his suit sans the jacket, tie only slightly loosened and sleeves rolled up his forearms. He hadn’t even bothered to put his shoes back on, comfortable enough with the hotel’s reputation to be in his room and take the two steps across the carpeted hallway in his socks.
“As long as you make it fast.” And then you’re stepping aside and opening the door further, the sweetness of the vanilla nearly pulling Hotch in.
Except he’s somehow distracted by the dollop of cream still on your cheek, right underneath your eye. Witnessing first-hand the twinkling of your eyes as you glance up at him and the way your pink headband has your hair pushed back, baring the most of your face he’s ever seen, has him sidetracked.
“You have a little…” He motions to his own face, hoping that you will take the hint.
And you don’t, not exactly, because of course you don’t. You immediately swipe at your face but on the wrong cheek and stare down at your hand when you don’t catch anything. “What?”
Hotch is a problem-solver, meticulous, and always thinks things through. That’s his job, to always be two steps ahead of anyone and everyone. So he’s not sure how or why he’s suddenly reaching a hand out to swipe at the cream on your face with his thumb, his touch lingering on the warmth of your cheek.
Whatever Hotch was going to say dies in his throat at the very audible hitch of your breath, the way your eyes widen at his close proximity. Your skin is smooth, softer than anything he’s ever felt, and he ignores the way you’re staring into him as he pulls back and absentmindedly rubs the moisturizer in the palm of his other hand. If he tries hard enough, the cream on his own skin nearly replicates the feeling of yours.
He's about to clear his throat to apologize, maybe even mention something about how the report can technically wait until tomorrow and turn right on his heel back into his room to ignore the adamant weight pressing down on his chest, when your expression changes.
Something almost akin to smugness tugs at the corners of your lips, the shininess inexplicably different and more distracting than your usual lipstick. Your bright eyes dance with amusement before your arms fall from where they were crossed on your chest to your sides.
“You know, I’m wearing a lip mask right now if you want some of that too.”
“Excuse me?”
If possible, your grin widens, causing Hotch to internally deny that he was suddenly feeling breathless. “I use a lip mask every night. They just make them look so kissable, right?”
Something in Hotch snaps, because if that wasn’t a clear invitation, he doesn’t know what is.
When he finally steps into your room, closing the door behind him, you’re slowly backing up until you’re pressed up against the nearest wall with that infuriating grin on your face.
You’re playing with him, you’ve been playing with him, but he doesn’t care and can’t even think about that when you’re peering up at him with soft eyes.
When Hotch brings a hand up to cradle your cheek, he thinks his stomach nearly twists itself into a knot at the immediate way you lean into him and the way your eyes flutter shut.
When he finally kisses you, he can smell the sweetness of the raspberry lip mask before he tastes it, seamlessly blending in with your vanilla body wash and making him feel more drunk than he’s felt in a long time.
You place your hands on his chest, your warmth seeping through the fabric of his shirt, and something about touching him has you unconsciously parting your lips to deepen the kiss, causing the smell of raspberry to become stronger.
Hotch can immediately feel the stickiness of your mask on his mouth, and he’s tempted to pull away at the unfamiliarity of something on his lips, but then you’re sighing into him and his hands are suddenly on your waist where the bottom of your pajama top has barely lifted. The warmth of your skin was intoxicating.
You have to be the first one to break the kiss, and when Hotch opens his eyes, you’re staring at him, your smirk having morphed into a smile of disbelief. His eyes flit to the almost imperceptible smear of gloss at the corner of your mouth.
“You have a little…” You trail off, your eyes drifting to his own lips, your smile doing nothing to calm the erratic rhythm Hotch’s heart has taken.
Hotch wonders how much you had put on yourself because the amount that he can feel on his lips makes him immediately want to swipe at his mouth. But that would mean having to take his hands off of you and he doesn’t think he has the willpower for that.
Instead, he rubs his lips together in an effort to spread the tackiness equally over his lips before he says “I like it, but I don’t think I got enough.”
You huff a laugh at that, your fingers tightening from where they’re gripping the lapels of his dress shirt. “I think I can help you with that.”
five.
“Are you okay in there?”
“Just five more minutes, I promise!”
That’s what you had said ten minutes ago. It’s not like Hotch is impatient per se, just content that you had agreed to sleep over again after another late date night and there wasn’t a looming case coming up.
You had only slept over one other time when the team had gotten back from a case late and Hotch wasn’t going to let you drive yourself home when you could barely keep yourself standing. You had dozed off the entire car ride home, head leaning against the window which caused Hotch to adamantly avoid all the potholes and tight turns, and yet you still managed to do your skincare routine in his ensuite bathroom before coming to bed.
After that night in your hotel room, you’ve become bolder. You’re now sitting next to Hotch on the jet, you make your way up to his office when there were still plenty of people milling about in the bullpen, and the way you peer up at him through your eyelashes during case briefings has him itching for a cold shower.
Neither have you said anything to the rest of the team, but at this point, Hotch doesn’t think he has to with the way both Dave and Morgan have patted him on the back the day after you laughed at something Emily had said and leaned against him, leaving his shoulder thrumming from your warmth for the next hour.
Another five minutes pass and Hotch can still hear the clinking of your serums as you rummage through your cosmetics bag. He silently sets aside his phone to get up from his extremely comfortable spot in the bed to pad his way over to the bathroom.
The sight that greets him has Hotch’s stomach plummeting all over again.
You’re sporting that same headband with the pink bow again, however this time, you’re wearing one of his old academy shirts that had mysteriously gone missing from his dresser several weeks ago. You’re freshly showered and you’re holding onto some kind of strangely shaped metallic instrument that you’re scraping over your cheekbones and then down your neck. The way it drags over your skin has Hotch cringing sympathetically.
You immediately spot him, meeting his gaze through the mirror, and the way your eyes immediately light up has a small smile forming on Hotch’s face before he can help it. “Hey you.”
“Hey.” Hotch leans against the doorway, content to watch the clearly practiced movements of you rubbing your skin with this strange contraption. “It’s been over five minutes.”
You pout. “Sorry, I’ve been holding this off all week and I need to do it tonight.”
Hotch was sure that “need” was a strong word, but he doesn’t question it. He stopped questioning your thorough skincare routine months ago.
And then you turn to him, something mischievous tugging at your glossy lips. “Wanna try it?”
Apprehension thuds in his chest, but he takes a step forward into the glow of the bathroom anyway. “And what is it exactly?”
Detecting your hesitation a mile away, you give him a warm smile as you hold it up to him. “It’s called a gua sha. It’s supposed to help with blood flow and getting rid of toxins and all that.”
Hotch may not be a beauty or skincare expert, but he has doubts that this piece of metal can actually do all of those things. To be fair, he’s had quite a few doubts about most of the items you use and not so subtly make him try.
The delight painted clear on your face though has Hotch tucking those thoughts away. He’s sure he has no right to question one’s own method on how to relax.
“Okay.”
You immediately muffle a squeal and turn to grab some other serum you left out on the sink, a light gold swimming around in the bottle.
“I’ll only do half of your face, I promise.” You squeeze some of the mysterious liquid on your hands and reach up to pat the left side of his face.
It’s thicker than your usual products, most likely some kind of oil that smells like roses, but the heat from your hand and your close proximity has Hotch feeling inexplicably warm all over.
“Okay, now you just use this side to run up your cheekbone like this.” You demonstrate for him and he adamantly makes note of the light pressure you’re using. “And then you run it down your face and down your neck.”
When he attempts to copy your movements with the warm metal, he doesn’t notice any difference in how his skin feels or the blood flow in his face, but you’re studying him so closely that Hotch is tempted to say he does.
It’s a strange sensation, but honestly it doesn’t feel any different than if he used his own fingers to rub up against his cheekbone or jawline.
When he puts the piece of metal back in your open palm, you’re nearly teeming with excitement. “So, what do you think?”
He pauses. “I don’t think it’s for me, sweetheart.”
You pout but he can tell that you’re not offended. “Boo. Fine, I’ll meet you in bed, handsome.”
Hotch is about to turn back to go to bed before he remembers the thick oil covering half of his face, evenly dispersed but still uncomfortable and will surely stain his pillowcase. He attempts to discreetly wipe at it with his hand as best as he can before quickly rubbing it off on your arm and escaping.
The screech you let out echoes in his bathroom as you try to swat at him and narrowly miss, and the way he feels heat tinge at the tip of his ears is better than any metallic contraption’s claim to improve blood flow.
+1
On his days off, Hotch much prefers spending as much time as he can at home, either with Jack, you, or, more recently, both. Even if Hotch technically sees you every day in the bullpen, you at work is much different than the you at home.
Or at least, he likes to think there’s a difference as you drag him to the grocery store during what was possibly the quietest afternoon he’s had in several months.
I just have to pick up a couple of things, you had said as you buckle your seatbelt in the passenger side. We’ll be back home in a jiffy.
Never mind the fact that the word home coming from your lips has Hotch’s mind reeling. You’ve been seeing each other for several months now and he’s almost sure that you haven’t stepped foot in your own apartment for at least a month. You’ve taken up half of his dresser, most of his closet space, and the entirety of the counter space in the bathroom with your multi-colored serums and skincare tools that don’t work no matter what you claim.
He follows you around the store, dutifully pushing the grocery cart, as you mentally go through your checklist on all the toiletries you’re almost out of. Which is why he finds himself in the cosmetics aisle when you exclaim “Oh, I forgot about tomatoes for taco Tuesday!” and scamper off before he could say there were plenty of tomatoes from last time in the fridge because Jack has suddenly decided he doesn’t like them anymore.
He's content to wait, maybe check his emails on his phone, when he spots the familiar label of his face wash out of the corner of his eye.
It’s a brand that Haley had recommended for him when they were in college and Hotch knew absolutely nothing about skincare then, so he just continued buying it. He’s gone through countless bottles over the years, having used it nearly every day, yet Hotch finds himself frowning as he stares at the bright orange bottle.
The large bold letters advertise the cleanser being able to effectively combat oiliness, but Hotch distinctly remembers you offhandedly mentioning how lucky he was to have dry skin and not a combination like you.
Honestly, he had no idea, but it would make sense with how you were constantly slathering him in lotions and creams any chance you got.
He browses through the available cleansers, keeping an eye out for those that treat dry skin, when you sidle up next to him with a bag of tomatoes that were undoubtedly not going to get eaten. He can hear the hesitation in your voice when you ask “What are you doing?”
“Looking for something different.”
“Oh yeah? I knew I was wearing you down, Hotchner. Soon, you’re going to be begging me to take you to Sephora.” You’re joking but Hotch can detect the underlying seriousness in your voice.
He continues as if he didn’t hear you. “I’ve been using the wrong face wash for my skin so I’m looking for a different one. I probably haven’t been doing my skin any favors all these years.”
A pause. And then, incredulously, you say “Who taught you that?”
Finding one that was a good size and affordable enough to try, Hotch grabs it and throws it into the cart. When he meets your eyes, you’re staring up at him with a disbelieving smile.
“You did.” And it’s true—Hotch would’ve never thought about the long-term benefits of having a humidifier in the bedroom or the importance of sunscreen everyday if it weren’t for you. Taking care of your appearance was clearly important to you, which meant it was now important to him.
You stare at him, lips parted as if you’re at a loss for words. Your skin is glowing even under the harsh fluorescent grocery store lighting. “You’re such a sweet talker, you know that?”
You toss the tomatoes in the cart, making him wince, and loop your arm through his to tug him along the aisle. You smell sugary sweet with maybe a hint of his cologne from where you had slept in one of his old shirts last night. Hotch remembers how he had felt lightheaded, fondness flooding his chest, when he woke to you laying on his chest this morning. He tugs you closer into his side.
“Does this mean that you’ll try that new light therapy mask that I bought?”
“One step at a time, honey.”

💌 Syn: Azzi’s younger sister dates one of their teammates behind Azzi’s back
»»— warnings: none i don’t think
»»— notes: i hate how this one turned out 🤠
»»— word count: 917
»»— pair: Paige x Fudd!Gfreader
Tumblr media
“shhh we gotta be quiet” you tell paige after she knocked something off of your dresser when sneaking in
paige just ignores you and picks up what she dropped and then closed and locked your bedroom door - heading towards you.
you and azzi share a dorm together with caroline, carols asleep and azzi’s in her room doing homework, so what did you do? called your girlfriend to come over
but…said girlfriend has to sneak in because you both are hiding your relationship. azzi would not approve of your relationship and you both aren’t gonna ask your teammates to lie for you so you can be public around them, that’s just insane.
so that gets you to where you are right now - watching paige get clothes from the bottom drawer of your dresser, and then changing into those clothes
“movie and cuddles?” paige asked after putting the clothes she just took off, onto your desk chair for her to grab when she leaves
you nod, already getting in your bed and under the covers, making paige do the same
Tumblr media
you both fell asleep watching the movie, all cuddled up together. but you both woke up to consistent knocking, only waking up fully when you heard azzi say through the door “alright fine i’m using the key” making both of you sit up startled, but before you could move and push paige into your closet the door had opened and in walked azzi.
you could see azzi’s facial expression change, you could tell when she put the scene in front of her together in her brain, you could also see the look of hurt and betrayal all across her face
“az-“ “no! do not say anything!” she tells you before turning to face paige “you’re sleeping with my sister? AFTER i told you she was off limits?”
paige doesn’t really know what to say. azzi’s right, she did tell paige that you were off limits - and has been telling her since paige and azzi first met - which was years ago. paige did follow through with that, up until last year.
she never showed she was attracted to you - she was even in denial with her feelings for you. she always treated you as a friend - a very close friend but a friend.
she never thought you and her would eventually become a thing, she always fully intended to keep you at arms length - so that azzi wouldn’t be mad at her.
she’s not really sure on the time stamp of when she accepted her feelings, but whenever it was, was one of the greatest days. the even better day, was when she finally decided to do something with her feelings - that’s the day you guys started dating.
you and her have been dating for a little over a year now. she thought you guys wouldn’t be caught this far along, and she was wrong, and she’s having a difficult time on swallowing this pill.
“az- i’m sorry” paige stutters out, kinda overwhelmed with this situation “YOU’RE sorry?! you can date anyone in the world, and you chose the ONE person that i said was off limits, and you’re sorry?!”
“azzi i’m an adult, i can date who i want to date.” you tell her, wanting this conversation to be over
“you’re also my little sister dating MY best friend.” azzi responded back, still mad about the situation “why are you making it sound like she’s not my friend too? we’re all teammates, we’re all friends, we didn’t tell you we were seeing each other because we knew you were gonna act like this.”
“act like what?! i told both of you that i didn’t want you guys to ever date each other and look what’s happening now! you guys couldn’t of just respected that wish? i don’t ask anything of either of you but the one thing i do, you go behind my back and do it any ways?”
“azzi that’s not fair-“ paige starts but got cut off “fair?! you wanna talk about being fair?” “if you would let me talk that would be great!” paige said after cutting azzi off
azzi stopped talking and crossed her arms over her chest looking at paige expectingly “go on”
“we both did what you asked. we ignored each other romantically until last year, we spent all of our time together since me and you met at arms length, we’ve done everything, and unexpectedly fell for each other in that time. we are both adults, we can both do what we want - and what we want is to be with each other. you can’t stop us from dating, we’ve respected your wish this whole time but you never say why we can’t date you just say to not date, and that’s not fair at all. if your gonna forbid us from doing something at least tell us why. and until you can come up with a good reason - we’re gonna continue seeing each other”
azzi just looks at paige, her arms still crossed over her chest “i love her” paige replied again after a few moments of silence
azzi doesn’t say anything but after a few seconds walks out the door and back to her room. you and paige both make eye contact before sighing out loud

As a break from GO...
I was fine until about 8 years ago. When I first got pregnant.
And then my body decided it had had enough. My hypermobility-that I didn't even know I had- started kicking in and causing issues about 4 years ago. This past few years I've gradually succumbed to viral infection after viral infection... My immune system is no longer working as it used to. Heck, every time I have a blood test it shows my ESR rate is increasing. Since December 2024 I've had tonsillitis alongside some seriously messed up coldsores and a fever, and I'm now suffering from a type of pneumonia where I'm having to take antibiotics and rest... And yet I'm not bedbound but doing anything puts strain on my breathing and I *hurt*. And I also had a major flare up with my hypermobility for like 3 days where my wrists and ankles were burning. I had to ice them in the restaurant on Friday when I was out for my mum's birthday.
Had this been a decade ago, I'd have walked it all off. I'd have been fine, nothing touched me back then.
And yet now... Now I'm half of what I used to be.
And this isn't even touching the depression side of things, and that medication. Like it says above, at least I'm the alive version of myself...
Some rando: You should think about stopping your prescription
Me: My pills make me not want to die tho
They: You shouldn’t want to die, that’s not normal
Me: Yeah that’s why I’m taking my pills

Broken hearts and noses
Sometimes you have to get slammed in the face by a door to find your way back into your lover’s arms.
Starring: Jay x fem!reader [established relationship] feat. enhypen members
—————————————————————————
“All you do is work, work, work…” You crossed your arms in a pout and nagged Jay’s ear off as he tried to make some dinner. The emphasis laid on tried.
“Please, y/n. Not this again.” He exhaled tiredly.
“What do you mean ‘not this again’? If you would just listen to me I wouldn’t talk about it anymore!”
“Listen to you?? I’m already listening, y/n! What do you expect me to do?? Tell my manager ‘oh by the way, I can’t do the concert because my girlfriend complains about me not spending enough time with her’?” He put the wooden spoon rather harshly on the kitchen counter and started chopping up some vegetables on the cutting board.
“And I’m here with you right now, aren’t I? So I really don’t get why you’re still whining so much.” He uttered roughly.
His words were like a stab in your heart - he wasn’t taking you seriously. The realisation of it made you so upset that the corners of your mouth went down on their own. But you didn’t want to cry. At least not in front of him. Which was really weird - in the last two years you had been dating him, you never had a problem with crying in front of him.
That was before your last fight with him. Which was funnily enough also the last time you saw him, so 2 weeks ago:
~ “Are you seriously crying again about this?! That’s all you can do, right? Crying and getting on my fucking nerves.”
His harsh words surprised you so much that your tears automatically stopped from the shock. Or maybe it was an instant defense mechanism to protect yourself from any other hurtful words from your boyfriend.
Of course you tried to be rational: he was tired from work, y/n. You shouldn’t have brought it up. It was the wrong timing. He just had a fight with his manager and just wanted to have you by his side and didn’t want to hear you also complain. Complain about how lonely and neglected you felt for the last couple of months. Yet again.
And as always he snapped at you and didn’t want to talk about it.
Not only did he not want to talk about your feelings and problems, but he also never talked about his own. Obviously.
He didn’t even tell you what the fight with his manager was about. If you hadn’t pushed him so much to tell you why he was in a bad mood you wouldn’t even had known that he fought with his manager.
He never talked about anything that bothered and worried him. Never. He always said everything was fine - and at the same time his actions and words showed you that he wasn’t fine.
And as always, he regretted how he spoke to you and apologised.
“I’m sorry, baby. I didn’t mean to lash out at you. Let me make it up to you,” he had murmured against your neck as you tried to ignore him.
“Hm?” He left a trail of kisses all over your shoulder and neck, “I didn’t mean it. Please forgive me, my angel.”
His hands caressed your waist and stomach, “you’re my little angel, hm? C‘mon, let me apologise to you, princess.”
And as always, you also didn’t want to fight with him. You hated it.
Hence, you let him make it up. He kissed you and ‘made love to you’ as an apology.
As always.
It was a never ending circle. A new couples tradition since a few months now. ~
It felt like a barbed wire was tightly wrapped around your neck as you tried not to cry. But your eyes expressed everything that needed to be said. Disappointment, anger, heart-ache, desperation. Too bad that he wasn’t looking at you but was rather interested in chopping those carrots into thin slices.
The more seconds you held back your tears the more you felt like a wall was being built between you and the person you loved the most. How could your relationship develop like that?
You watched him for a few moments in complete silence. The way he was cutting the ingredients made it seem like he was in complete peace. That’s what he used to tell you - that cooking brought him peace and a chance to gather his thoughts in his hectic life. Or just to completely shut down from all his problems. Either way, it was his way of dealing with his emotions and troubles. A moment of peace and quiet.
It seems like that this also isn’t a good moment to talk to him about my feelings.
But then your eyes wandered up to his face. His eyebrows were furrowed angrily, his lips in a sulking pout and he was clenching his teeth which was evident because of his prominent jaw.
You quickly realised that he definitely was not coping well with whatever was going on in his head. Your heart clenched at the thought of your boyfriend struggling and keeping everything to himself.
“Babe?” You tried to catch his attention.
Nothing. He didn’t reply to you.
“Jay…” you took a step forward to him as his back was shown to you.
When you realised that he wasn’t going to give you a response you gently put your hand on his arm. He visibly tensed up at that.
“Jay, I-“
“What? What do you fucking want from me, y/n?” He muttered through gritted teeth.
“I just that-“
“What, y/n? What?!
That I’m making you sad because we never go out on dates?
That I’m neglecting you and you want me to be more present?
That I’m always working and never spending time with you?”
You took your hand away timidly - seemingly lost at words.
Jay scoffed as he continued, “I was already working when we two met, y/n! You knew what my profession was and you knew how much I needed to work!”
“Are you saying it’s my fault now?!” You shouted in disbelief.
He put the knife roughly away on the counter and turned around, just to shout angrily at your face: “Yes, y/n! You should’ve asked yourself whether you’re willing to make this sacrifice or not before you decided to date me! You should’ve thought about whether you could adjust to my lifestyle or not!”
“Are you fucking serious?! When we started dating you always had some time for me! I never thought of this because you didn’t give me a reason to see it as an obstacle!”
“Too bad, y/n! This world doesn’t resolve around you! I can’t manage everything like I did 2 fucking years ago!”
“But WHY??!! WHY CAN’T YOU BE LIKE THE JAY YOU USED TO BE??!!!”
You gave up to fight against your tears and just sobbed loudly, holding your face in your trembling hands and letting them catch your tears. At this point your body was shaking like a leaf. You hiccuped, and cried and cried.
As you were still crying and sobbing you tried to calm down by taking deep breaths.
You straightened up your posture and looked him straight in the eyes, albeit you were still hiccuping and sniffling:
“You’re right. I- I made a stupid decision back then. Good thing we- we cleared this up.” You tried to sound as sternly as possible while tears were streaming down your face.
Jay continued to look at you in fury - or maybe it was confusion. You couldn’t tell the difference.
He shut his eyes in frustration and rolled his head back as he leaned back onto the edge of the kitchen counter - holding it with a firm grip.
“Baby- I didn’t mean it like that. I’m so-“ just as he was about to apologise to you for the nth time because of the same thing, the same fight, the same topic, you quickly interrupted him:
“Save it. You don’t have to apologise when you clearly don’t want to change anything.” You made your way out of the kitchen and wiped away the tears on your cheeks. But the tears continued to pour down the same path you just cleaned up.
You quickly made your way to Jay’s room and grabbed your belongings.
Phone, wallet- you hiccuped - no, it’s in my purse. Where’s my purse?
Your sobs didn’t stop.
Where’s my fucking purse?
You spotted your jacket in Jay’s bed and turned around too quickly with it when you grabbed it.
Crash.
With wide shocked eyes you looked at the frame you accidentally knocked down and broke.
A frame which contained a picture of you two on a random date. One of the many dates you used to have. It was a cute picture. You thought you looked okey in it but Jay swore that your smile was prettiest he had ever seen so he had to frame it and put it on his side table.
~ “This way I will never forget your pretty smile and will remind myself to always make you smile like this.”
He explained to you with a shy smile and rubbed his neck in embarrassment when you spotted the frame in his room and asked him about it. ~
This fucking bastard! Fucking liar is he! I should sue him for all these lies!
You angrily started to gather the broken glass and put it in his bin. Not even in the angriest state you could just leave it like that - he could hurt himself.
You didn’t even think about it. You were just doing it.
Your vision was blurry because of your tears so it didn’t really surprise you when you cut yourself. And as fucked up as it sounded - the pain of the cut was more bearable than the pain in your heart.
Lastly, you put the photo in the bin and with that the promise ring you received from him on your two years anniversary. Which was not even too long ago.
Maybe you were overreacting. You still loved and respected him after all so much. So fucking much that you felt your heart shred apart in several pieces.
And you knew he felt the same towards you.
But you also knew that he was having some own problems and didn’t know how to handle them which resulted in him taking it out on you - unintentionally or not, you had enough with these fights.
Thus, you needed to take this step to make a change. Either for the better or the worse. You just really hoped for the better as you saw the ring laying safely in the corner of the bin.
Hopefully he’ll find it and come back to his senses.
You were a little hesitant to leave the ring there, scared he might throw away his trash and not notice it.
No, it’s okey. If we make up, we’ll do it quickly. He won’t empty his bin till then.
The ‘if’ in the sentence lingered longer in your mind than you would’ve liked.
You then quickly made your way into the bathroom which was directly connected to his room and washed your cut clean. After you wrapped some toilet paper around it as a quick solution you walked back into his room, holding your jacket in your other hand.
Surprisingly, you spotted Jay there. Kneeling in front of the bin, he (fortunately) held the ring and the photo in both of his hands.
And when he turned his head around, showcasing you his misty eyes, all you could see was a small, hurt child. A child who didn’t know what to do with these adult problems and responsibilities, who was overwhelmed and just wanted to be held, who wanted to cry without feeling bad about it, without worrying his loved ones.
He looked so vulnerable in that moment.
You hesitated a little - you wanted to wrap him in his arms and tell him that everything is going to be okay. But you knew this wasn’t the right move.
Then, without a word, you marched out of his room.
Jay was startled: “B-babe!”
He quickly stood up after hastily putting the picture on his bed and stuffed the ring securely in his pocket.
“Wait! Where are you going?”
Of course, you didn’t respond to him as you firmly went to the front door where your shoes were put right next to his larger ones. You quickly went on to put on your jacket when you remembered that your purse was in the living room.
Just as Jay was about to grasp your arm you quickly escaped his reach and walked back right past him as if he didn’t even exist.
When you entered the mess of a living room you thought how clean Jay’s room always was.
Ugh, I don’t wanna think about him!!
“Baby, hold on!” Before you could react he held your wrist firmly: “Are you hurt? Did you hurt yourself with the frame?” He carefully examined your hand and noticed how the toilet paper was stained with blood.
“Wait a minute! I think Sunghoon has some bandage in his room!” He spoke alertly as if you were in some kind of emergency.
Normally you would’ve giggled at his exaggeration but at this moment his reaction only made your eyes teary.
“Just wait a second, alright?” He put his hands on your shoulders and made you sit on the couch. Then he looked firmly in your eyes, assuring himself that you wouldn’t leave just like that.
But he was wrong. You can’t just wait and forget everything as if you never fought.
He’d come, patch you up, apologise to you and you’d forgive him because he means it. He truly does. But you wouldn’t talk about your issues. You’d just place a bandage on the wound instead of taking care and finding the cause of it.
When you heard him rummaging around in sunghoon’s room, you took your purse and went again to the front door. Just as you put on your shoes and were about to leave, you heard Jay:
“Don’t go.”
His voice was shaky and full of pain.
“You forgot your ring,” he spoke quietly, afraid to say the wrong thing.
We both know I didn’t forget it.
You didn’t say it out loud.
Instead, you reached for the doorknob when he repeated his plea:
“Please, y/n. Don’t leave me. I beg you.”
His words broke your heart. You took a deep breath as you tried to gather your thoughts.
“I think-“ you were interrupted with a slam in your face. Tuck. “Ah!”
“Y/N!” Jay exclaimed in horror as you dropped your bag and hold onto your nose in pain. He quickly pulled you into his arms.
“Oh my god! What happened?” Jake asked with a horrified expression.
“You slammed the door in my girlfriend’s face, you fucking idiot!” He gritted his teeth in anger.
“Oh my god! I’m so sorry, y/n!” Jake wanted to approach you to make sure you were okey but Jay wasn’t having any of it.
He quickly stepped in front of you as he still held you firmly. His back was now blocking Jake from stepping any closer to you. Like a shield protecting you from any danger.
“Stay away from her, bastard.” He gave Jake a glare.
“It was an accident!”
“I don’t fucking care. You hurt her. If you ever get near her I’ll fucking kill you.” He spat back and then turned back to you.
He softly and gently cradled your face: “Baby, let me see if you’re bleeding,” he requested with so much love and care - the complete opposite from how he talked with Jake just seconds ago.
You hesitantly pulled down your hands from your nose to show it to him. Jay exhaled in relief: “it’s not bleeding, don’t worry.” You wanted to point out that he was the one who shouldn’t worry, but then you remembered that you were still mad at him.
“I think you should lay down a bit.” Jake suggested carefully.
“Why don’t you just shut up, fucking bitch?”
“Jay!” You scolded lightly, “it was an accident, don’t be so harsh!” You unconsciously put your uninjured hand on his chest to calm him down.
“Oh? What happened? Why is Jay hyung calling you a bitch?”
“I opened the door when y/n was just about to leave and it hit her face on accident. He’s acting like I tried to kill her!”
Jungwon shook his head - he was disappointed but definitely not surprised and looked at you: “are you okey?”
You nodded your head and tried to give him a smile but the expression hurt more than you expected. “Ow!” You clasped your nose with your hands and closed your eyes as tears pricked up from the pain.
Jay quickly cradled your face in his hands again and brushed your cheeks with his thumbs, “baby…” he cooed in empathy.
“What happened?” You had to stifle a laugh when sunghoon and Riki entered the dorms and asked the same question in sync.
“Jake hyung hit y/n in the face with the door.” Jungwon answered casually as he handed Jay a cool pad.
“On accident!” Jake grasped his hair in disbelief.
Riki whistled: “That’s how people die, Hyung!” He knew what he was doing. Fuelling the fire intentionally so that Jay would rip apart Jake in pieces.
“Wow I can’t believe you’re still alive, Jakey. Y/n is his queen - if I were you I wouldn’t be sleeping tonight. He’ll definitely come for you!” Sunghoon joined the teasing.
But Jay wasn’t even listening to them. He was totally focused on carefully placing the ice pack on your nose. “Ouch!”
What a great day! Fight with boyfriend, injured hand and now this.
“I know, baby. Just a little more, okey? It will help soothe the pain.” He kissed your forehead, wishing he could take away your pain and to let you know he’s there for you. You held his hands, yet again completely unintentionally, as one was caressing your cheek and the other held the cool aid on your nose.
“Oh my god! Guys, you don’t know what just happened! The head manager was sooo pissed that Jay hyung skipped practice today but then, actually just now in the car, Heeseung hyung talked with Jiwoo Hyung about this whole dating ban-“
Sunoo began his loud chatter even before he entered the dorms since the front door was still widely open and he saw his members standing in the hallway.
Then he cut himself off when Jungwon gave him a stern look.
“What?”
He then looked at his surroundings only to realise that you were also there.
“Oh hi, y/n! You look so stunning today!”
The rest of the boys coughed awkwardly as they face palmed themselves.
You took away Jay’s hands from your face, but still hold onto them tightly, and softly greeted him back and thanked him.
What the hell was going on?
Dating ban? Skipped practice?
You had so many questions but you just stood there completely frozen. Then your world started spinning.
“I’m feeling dizzy…” you weakly informed Jay just in time before your vision turned black and you collapsed right in his embrace.
His arms are so nice and strong.
That was your last thought before you entered the world of unconsciousness.
“What if she’s really dead?” You heard a nervous voice.
“Don’t be stupid, hyung. She’s literally breathing as we talk, look at her chest moving.”
“I’m not looking at her chest! That’s the last thing I should be doing if I don’t want to die at Jay’s hand.”
“Why are you whispering his name?”
“Jungwon, please!” Jake gasped as if Jungwon’s question was absolutely absurd, “did you see how he looked at me?! I almost killed his girlfriend - if he hears me talking about him or y/n he’ll definitely end me.”
“That doesn’t even make sense… if he wanted to kill you he wouldn’t even allow you in the same room as her. And besides that, how on earth would he hear you?”
“I don’t know… he probably put a camera here to watch us. His obsession over y/n is a little concerning. But… hmmmm… now that you’re saying it… it is really weird. Why is he letting me stay near her…?
Oh my god! Maybe that’s just his psychotic game. He wants me to witness her death so I’ll live with this guilt forever. Wow, I have to leave this room quickly.” You heard the scratching of a chair.
“You’re not going anywhere, hyung!” Hit.
“Ouch! Don’t hit me there, my leg muscles are sore from practice.” He sulked childlike.
“Just sit down and wait until Jay hyung comes back.”
Where’s Jay?
“See, that’s what I mean! Isn’t it so weird that he went out himself and told us to watch over her?” Jake asked curiously.
“Definitely. Did you see his face when she fainted?I’ve never seen him like this. He froze just like that… he looked like he was about faint himself.”
“Right? And when he was in shock he was talking to himself something like ‘it’s my fault’.”
“Hm,” Jungwon hummed, “now that I think of it, it really gets weirder - usually he’s the proactive one. He’s always level headed and knows what to do. But back then we had to move him aside and handle the situation. He didn’t even move for a while.”
“Do you think they had a fight and that’s why he was so shocked? Like, why was she leaving the apartment in first place? He texted us that we should eat dinner outside because he’s cooking for her but did you see the kitchen? He didn’t even start cooking - his utensils and ingredients were laying around so randomly… like he got distracted or was interrupted.
This would also explain why he is making us sit here in case she wakes up - you know, so she wouldn’t be facing him first thing first. And it would also explain why he hadn’t knocked me out yet. He feels guilty.”
You could hear their tiny brains ratter as a moment of silence followed.
“Nah…”
“Nah!!!”
Both of them let out at the same time.
How can someone be so clever yet still so dumb?
Jay is only clever. He is really super smart.
Your heart melted at the thought of him.
“Oh my god! Are you seeing this? She’s smiling!”
You quickly made a neutral expression as you didn’t want to ‘wake up’ yet. You wanted to listen what they had to talk about. These gossiping aunts. And you wanted to wait for Jay.
“Hyung, now you’re just hallucinating. How can an unconscious person possibly be making any expressions?”
“I swear! She just made that smile! You know that smile whenever she looks at Jay!”
“Ohhh, you mean her ‘I’m so stupidly in love’ smile?” You felt your ears heat up in embarrassment.
“Yeah, yeah, that one!”
“Hm… maybe she’s dreaming about him.”
“Or about something that’s factually beautiful.”
Hey! You frowned internally. Jjongie is beautiful.
“Like a flower garden?”
“Or like rainbows and a sunny day.”
“Yeah, or maybe something cute like puppies.”
“Oh my god puppies! That’s so sweet, I wanna see them too.” You could hear Jake’s pout.
Then you heard a soft knock on the door.
Oh! Is that Jay? I should pretend that I just woke up when he comes in!
“I bought these flowers for y/n!” Sunoo exclaimed in excitement.
Oh… it’s just sunoo…
“Look hyung! I got this black plushy cat for y/n!”
And Riki…
Jungwon and Jake bursted out in laughter:
“BWHAAHAGAHAH- that looks exactly like jay hyung!”
“His angry eyebrows! They’re like Jay’s!”
“I’ll place it right next to her.”
Aww my baby Riki.
“And I’ll put these flowers on the nightstand then she’ll wake up to the sweet scent of them.”
Sunoo!!! He’s such a sweetheart, so cute.
“Hyung, you need to put them in water otherwise they’ll wilt too quickly.“
“Nah, she can do it herself when she wakes up. Ugh! How long is it going to take? I think I’ll watch the new episodes of our show so I can threaten her with spoilers and make her do my laundry.” He chuckled evilly.
Sunoo! You felt irritated.
“If she ever wakes up.” Jake corrected him in a matter-of-factly tone.
“What do you mean ‘if’?”
“There’s a high possibility that she’ll never wake up, Riki.” Jake muttered dramatically.
“What?” Stop scaring my son! Don’t worry, riki, I’ll wake up soon!
“Nice! I always wanted her beanies!”
Riki!! You tried to calm your anger down.
“Oh my god! You’re a genius! I’ll take her skincare!” You felt your blood pressure rise. Don’t you dare, Kim Sunoo!
Then you suddenly felt the weight of the mattress go down at the foot of the bed.
“She better not wake up anytime soon.” Sunoo mumbled as he put his legs under the blanket and made himself comfortable as he pulled most of the blanket towards himself.
“Hyung! Be careful!” - at least there’s one person in this room who’s worried about me - “Jay hyung will get mad when he sees you sitting there. He strictly forbid it.”
Right. Jungwon is not taking care of me. He’s following his Jay hyung’s instructions!
“Agghhh this is nice,” next you felt a heavy weight settle on your legs as Riki was laying horizontally on them.
Ugh, he’s so heavy.
“Hyung knows y/n likes us. We’ll just tell him she wouldn’t have liked it if he scolded us.”
Then he started to roll his back on your legs and used them as some kind of muscle roller.
“That’s right,” sunoo agreed with Riki.
After a few moments of silence - and after Riki moved around on your legs and ultimately decided to sit like Sunoo but on the other side (and stealing more of the blanket than he did) - you finally heard the door open again.
Jay!
“Oh you guys are back! Did you get everything for y/n?” Jungwon asked.
“Yeah, Jay went to her apartment on his own and got her necessities meanwhile me and Hoon went to a store.” You heard how Heeseung was placing multiple bags on the floor.
“Wow did you buy everything from the store?”
“Basically, yes. He gave us a list he quickly had written down during the car ride. That man knows his girl.” You heard Sunghoon and his rummaging to which you assumed that he also was setting some shopping bags on the ground.
Exactly, you agreed proudly.
“Or he didn’t know anything and just wrote everything down he once saw in a store.” You ‘accidentally’ kicked your feet and hoped you aimed any body part of Riki.
“Ouch! She kicked me!” Bingo.
But where is Jay?
“And where is he now?” Sunoo expressed the thought that clouded your mind.
After a few silent moments Heeseung sighed softly and finally spoke up: “In the car. He told us to take the stuff to his room and if she’s awake we should text him. He’s probably waiting in the car for the message.”
“I don’t know man. He was acting so weird. Like he was the one at fault. I mean I get it; to see your woman faint like this is probably not easy but… - i don’t know how to describe it- he just was out of it.”
Heeseung hummed in agreement to sunghoon’s observation.
My baby. Your heart broke at the thought of jay sitting alone in the car. What is he doing? He should sit next to you and wait until you woke up! Or even better! He should kiss you awake!
Just as you wanted to speak up you heard the door opening again and finally there was your boyfriend.
“She’s still not awake?” With panic in his voice he entered his room. “I knew I shouldn’t have listened to you guys! I’m calling an ambulance.” He announced suddenly.
“Don’t call an ambulance! You have to kiss me awake, you moron!” You shouted in frustration as you suddenly sat up, startling everyone.
“Babe…” Jay’s shoulders visibly relaxed and his eyes were shaky as he looked at you with so much relief.
He quickly made his way towards you and sat on the bed right next to you. Then he pulled you carefully into his warm embrace and nestled his head on your shoulder.
“I was so scared, honey. Don’t ever do that again.” He said with a shaky voice and pulled you as close as possible. And then he started to cry. Loudly.
And of course hearing him cry made you also cry. So you cried just as loudly.
“Why weren’t you here, Jay?! Everyone was in this room except for you! I- I was waiting for you but you were the last person who came into this room!” You wailed as you gripped tightly onto Jay’s shirt.
Jay’s heart broke at this, nevertheless, he started to caress your hair in order to calm you down.
“I’m sorry, princess. I’m so sorry. You have no idea how sorry I am.” He whimpered as his tears didn’t seem to stop. “Just please don’t break up with me. I’ll do anything. But don’t leave me.”
“I don’t wanna leave you either, jay! But I can’t keep going on with these fights! You never tell me when something is wrong and you have no idea how devastating that is! It hurts so much knowing you’re in pain but not being able to help you or comfort you in any kind of way! Why even have a life partner if you don’t want to share your life with your partner?!”
“I’ll- I’ll tell you. Alright, princess? I’ll tell you every little thing from now on. Just promise me you’ll never scare me like this again.” He pulled away slightly and cradled your face in his hands to wipe away your tears with his thumbs.
“O-okey.” You sniffled and nodded a little as your tears were slowly but surely stopping.
You patted his cheeks with the sleeve of your shirt to clean up his wet face when you suddenly heard a light sniffle.
When you looked over your boyfriend’s shoulder you caught sight of sunoo trying to hold back his tears after seeing such an emotional, heart-wrenching and romantic scene in real life.
The realisation settled in that you and your boyfriend shared such an intimate and personal moment with his 6 fellow members. But when you looked around, anticipating teasings and laughter, you were met with nothing but compassion.
They all looked like they were trying to hold back their tears.
When you looked back at your boyfriend he was already looking at you with so much love and regret. He kissed your forehead: “I’m so glad you woke up.” he mumbled against it.
“Of course I would wake up, idiot!” You giggled a little and it immediately melted his heart.
Then you pouted sadly and hold your nose lightly: “It hurts.”
He widened his eyes in panic, “your nose? I swear to god I’ll kill Jake…” he mumbled under his breath while he examined your nose.
Jake gulped.
“It doesn’t look swollen… but we should go see a doctor, princess.” he firmly decided.
“No, jjongie. I just wanna lay down a bit. Can you get me the cooling aid, please?” Jay hesitated a little as he wanted you to visit the doctor nonetheless he didn’t want to argue with you: “Of course, honey. Lay down and rest, hm?”
“Can you lay down with me, please?”
Jay felt butterflies erupt in his stomach, “of course, my sweetheart.” Then he turned around to glare at Jake: “what are you doing, clown? Get her the ice pack, will you?”
“Y-yes, sir.” Jake sprang up from his chair.
“Jay, don’t be so mean to him. He didn’t do it on purpose.” You spoke softly as you patted his chest. Jay responded with a sulking grunt.
Then you looked at Riki and Sunoo who were still sitting on the bed at the other end with squinted eyes: “You should actually talk to them.”
Both of their eyes widened in a comical way.
“Wh-what do you mean?” Riki stuttered with fear loaded in his voice.
“We- we didn’t do anything wrong, hyung!” Sunoo stammered.
“What’s with them?” He looked over his shoulder and then back at you.
“Actually, they were so nice talking about how they got me gifts,” you looked around and found the plushy and the flowers they were talking about, “see, Jay? They took good care of me.”
“Really?” Jay inspected the plushy with suspicion and was surprised at his little brothers.
“Mhm, I heard something - I don’t if I understood it correctly - but something along the lines how they’ll buy me beanies or just in general some branded clothes and accessories and of course some skincare! Oh and how they’ll go to my apartment and clean it up for me. They even want to do my laundry!”
“Wow that really doesn’t sound like them,” jay chuckled but then turned around to look at them again. Just in time the two boys switched their facial expressions from unpleasant to happy ones.
“Thanks guys. I really appreciate it.”
They gave him a forced smile. Jay rose his eyebrow: “her apartment key is in my jacket pocket- you can go now and clean it up. I’ll join you.” They started to climb out of his bed whilst rolling their eyes secretly.
“No, jjongie! Let them do it!” You gave him your best puppy look. Sunoo rolled his eyes harder than before.
“But-“
“No buts! We still need to talk.” You gave him a stern look.
Jay looked at your cute expression and he’d be an idiot if he refused you. “Of course, my love,” he pushed a strand of hair behind your ear.
“Then just go and I’ll check tomor-“ he looked around and realised that everyone left already and that the cooling aid was laying on the ground at the swell of the door frame, “-row…”
“When did they even leave?” Jay mumbled as he stood up to pick up the cool pad and closed his door. After wrapping it up in a thin towel he went back to the bed where you were already laying and made some room for him. He joined you in the bed and gently laid pad on your nose. You sighed in relief: “This is nice…”
Jay kissed your forehead and cradled you in his other free arm, “come here,” he mumbled. You took the cool pad from his hand to press it on your own when you asked curiously: “what did you buy for me?”
“Oh, that?” He looked over his shoulder where the bags were, “just some stuff for my princess.” He cheekily answered. You swatted at his chest but he quickly caught your hand and pressed a kiss on the palm before resting it on his chest and pulling you closer. You felt him caressing your ring finger when you heard him shakily breathe in: “babe…?”
Hearing his serious tone you put the cool pad away and looked him in his eyes, you hummed: “yes, darling?”
He squeezed your hand lovingly as he felt his stomach churn anxiously: “Can you please wear the ring again? It feels heavy in my pocket.” And in his heart.
You smiled at him softly: “Of course, my love.”
Letting out a shaky breath, he speedily and clumsily pulled out the ring from his pocket and immediately slid it on your ring finger.
He lingered a kiss on it, “Ill make sure you never take it off again. Only if I replace it with an engagement ring.”
You grinned widely as you felt a blush on your cheeks: “I’d love that actually.”
Jay leaned in to kiss you but you quickly blocked him by putting your hand in front of his lips. “Why?” He tilted his head and looked at you with sad eyes. You almost caved in.
“First talk, then kiss. We’re not doing any kind of lovemaking - and you know what I mean by that - until you explain to me what’s going on,” you declared sternly, “and until then I’m still mad at you and won’t speak to you otherwise.”
“Okey, okey. I’ll explain,” he replied to you swiftly and wrapped his arms securely around you as if to make sure you won’t go anywhere.
And then he started to explain. And you didn’t say anything until he was done.
——
“So, just because of Jungwon’s dating scandal your head manager banned everyone from dating?” You summed up the whole complicated tension in the company, which had been going on for a few months now. You tried to process the information. “I can’t even comprehend this. That’s so unfair.” Your heart felt heavy.
“I know…” he agreed with a sad tone.
“Now I can actually understand why you wouldn’t tell me this. If I were you I probably also wouldn’t have.”
He sighed with a heavy heart: “but still… I failed miserably at hiding it from you. I mean it totally affected my mood. I should’ve just talked with you about it.”
You patted his cheek: “It’s okey, honey. It’s now in the past. We’re letting this chapter of our relationship go and are looking forward, alright?”
He gave you a cute little nod but one look in his eyes told you everything. How much he regretted these fights and his harsh words to you. It was impossible to express it with words.
“Babe… why are you looking like a sad puppy? It’s okay every relationship has its ups and downs. That’s actually a good thing. That way you can see whether a relationship is healthy or not. Whether the two partners are aligned with each other or not. Look at us: we’re talking about it and are going through this together. The important thing is that we’re making progress together, right? And that we’re learning from our past mistakes together. It’s also a testament to our commitment.“
He responded again with a nod, not daring to speak up as he was too afraid he might break out in tears. You pouted at him and whispered, “give me a kiss.” Without a word he leaned into you and met his lips with yours. And only after a few moments you started to taste his salty tears. “Babe…” you parted your lips from his, just to peck them several times. “Don’t cry, my jjongie. Everything is alright. We’re okey, baby.”
“I almost lost you, y/n.”
“No, you didn’t, silly.“
He wiped his tears away and pouted a little: “you threw away your ring.”
“It was more of a symbolic gesture than anything else. You found it and we talked about everything, right?”
“What if I didn’t? What if I threw it away on accident?”
“Then we would’ve gotten a new one. But I knew you’d find it and we’d make up in time before you would even empty out your bin.”
“Don’t ever do that again.”
You kissed his sulking lips again, “okey, I won’t, you little baby.”
As you were sharing another sweet kiss his nose bumped against yours and normally you would’ve chucked at the ticklish feeling but, unfortunately, your nose was really sensitive as you let out a painful groan.
“I’m sorry, baby,” he looked at you concerned.
“It’s okey,” you grabbed the cool pad again and held it against it.
Jay rubbed your waist to give you some comfort as he mumbled: “I really wanna punch Jake in the face.” He squeezed his eyes shut to calm himself down when all of the sudden he sat up from his laying position. “Give me a minute. I’ll just do it now.”
“Jay-“
“No, you’re right.” He took a deep breath: “I’ll slam his face against the door.”
“Honey,” you stretched out your arm and put your hand on his back, “before you do that just listen to me. Think about it: this accident brought us back together.”
He turned around to give you a look, “you’re not being for real, are you?”
“I’m 100% sure we wouldn’t have talked for at least one whole week. But looked at us now,” you wiggled your hand clad with the ring in front of his face. Jay laid back down next to you, now a little more relaxed.
“Sometimes I don’t like how you only see the good even in the bad things.” He was laying on his back and didn’t look at you as he stared at the ceiling.
“Why?” You giggled, “isn’t that a good thing? To be optimistic.”
“It is, I guess. It’s one of your traits I love so much. But it also makes me realise that I’m not worthy of your love. That you’ll probably leave me someday because you found someone who matches you way better than I do. That’s why I also don’t like it. It’s like a reminder that I’m not good enough for you.” He whispered the last part as he wanted to avoid a crack in his voice.
“Jay…” you were lost at words. In your eyes Jay was the most confident person to ever exist. Never ever did it cross your mind that Jay could also be insecure about your relationship. Just like you felt sometimes.
“Oh Jay…” you repeated emphatically and scooted closer to him. “Come here.” You wrapped your arms around him and pulled his head towards your chest. He immediately responded by embracing your waist and nestled his face in the crook of your neck.
“This was really stupid of you, you know? You always tell me to not speak such nonsense when in reality you also have these thoughts of insecurities.
I need you to know that there’s no person on this earth that can handle me as well as you do. There’s no person who loves me like you do and you show it to me in the most special ways. I know there’s nobody else who knows me like you do. So don’t ever think this again, alright?”
Jay only tightened his embrace around you as a response.
“So what if we fought? It only grew us stronger and closer. I got to know you better through this. And you’re acting like I’m some saint who’s never done anything wrong in this entire relationship. I think you’re forgotten that I always snap at you when I’m overwhelmed in the slightest. Or when I get my period I’m always annoyed with you. Or when I’m sleep deprived. I could give you sooo many examples from our life that we’ve been sharing for quite awhile now. You can’t tell me that you forgot all these instances.”
“Hm, but it’s not the same…” he mumbled against your skin.
“How so?” You exclaimed in a high pitched tone, “just like you don’t care about my bad traits I also don’t! I feel the exact same way about you. Believe it or not!”
“Promise?” He rasped with a sleepy voice.
“Promise.” You sealed it with a kiss on his head.
“You know, about this picture I told you I liked it because of your smile, right?”
You hummed.
“That’s actually not the whole story. I love this picture so much because on this day I realised I wanted to marry you. That you were the one for me.”
Your eyes widened in surprise: “Really?” You asked yet again in a high pitched tone, which made him chuckle lightly.
“Really.”
“But it was taken not even 1 month into our relationship! How could you possibly know it back then?”
He looked up at you and brushed away a strand of hair behind your ear gently:
“I don’t know what happened that day, princess. I just realised that my feelings for you weren’t - and obviously still aren’t- for someone who I’m dating casually. When you greeted me that day with your usual beautiful smile I immediately knew it. That’s why I love this picture so much. It reflects not only my feelings for you but also the importance of your smile- your happiness to me.”
He sighed sadly, “that day I swore to myself to never be the reason of your tears. To shield you from any harm and pain that could potentially make you sad. And I miserably failed at that…” he blinked his eyes harshly to stop the tears.
Slap.
“Ouch!”
“Stop it, Park Jonseong!” You frowned angrily.
“You’re only a human. You didn’t fail at anything. Do you really think I’d be laying here with you if I thought that? You always take care of me. Even when we’re fighting! You literally skipped practice today to spend time with me. So don’t ever talk like this about yourself.”
“That slap hurt…” he mumbled as he held his cheek with his hand.
“Stop acting like a child.” You rolled your eyes but nonetheless you leaned in to kiss his cheek where you slapped him.
“Better?”
“Here also.” He pointed at his other cheek.
“I didn’t even touch that side.” You laughed at his silliness. Nevertheless, you pecked it.
“And here.” He pointed at his nose.
“Mwuah.” You smooched his nose.
“And here also.” This time he laid his finger on his lip.
“Oh now you’re getting bold.”
“I was born bold.” He clasped your face in his hands and gently pulled you in for soft kiss.
The kiss was interrupted by a giggle of yours which you unsuccessfully tried to stifle: “bold or bald?”
Jay rolled his eyes with a smile and leaned in yet again to kiss you: “oh just shut up…”
After this chaotic day you were sure of two things:
First, the next time you’re taking off your ring it will be because he’s giving you another one - this time a diamond ring.
Second, from now on, whenever you’re with him, you’ll never have to open a door yourself.

Tumblr media

-
Before London
“So as everyone can see, here we have a list of statistics showing the viewership per video and definitely can see an increase from last year, content with Paige seems to do extremely well like we…”
Linda’s voice blends into the background sounds of cutlery and plates and chatter filling the dining hall. For some reason my boss thought an impromptu media team meeting was in order and showed up to College Park Center unannounced. She wanted to catch up on what sort of content attracted most viewership, and to evaluate what worked and what didn’t. I couldn’t have cared less - all I knew is I was doing a good job, fantastic even. I’m not sure why I had to sit through something I already knew just to have Linda reiterate it to me. It wasn’t like me to be resistant to a meeting, or to praise from my superior but I was far too distracted.
My eyes involuntarily keep travelling to the table on the far right where Paige was sitting with her teammates, voice echoing around the walls of the building. A sound I fear I might never get tired of. The blonde is leaning back on her chair, chugging water, biceps more prominent than usual after spending all morning in the weight room. I knew this because she had driven me to work, despite having time off saying she needed to lift. I knew it wasn’t in her schedule as I had, almost accidentally, memorised it. Still there she had been, outside my door with a hazelnut latte, always somehow the perfect temperature whenever she brought me my coffee order. I hated when it was too hot.
As if sensing me, her blue eyes shift from Arike to me, locking with my gaze. Immediately I blush, trying to hide the smirk growing onto my face. But I can’t, so I cover my mouth with my hand to hide it from the team, particularly Linda, Paige’s mouth twisting into a bright smile in response. Yet we don’t break eye contact, keeping our eyes on each other.
Linda had been surprisingly credulous to my claims of a migraine when I missed work just a couple days ago. Since the night the blonde turned my entire world on its head. I hadn’t been able to think of anything ever since except the weight of her lips on my skin, her eager touch and starved eyes. I had been craving her every second since we drove back to Dallas. I needed more. As much as it pained me to admit.
With a grin on her face, Paige grabs her phone and types for a while, my screen lighting up with a notification.
Paige
Did i say how beautiful you look today yet
I blush, tapping underneath the table.
You did. A few times in the car.
Matter of fact she had been repeating it between sentences, and almost crashed the car twice because of how badly she had been staring.
Gotta tell you again
Takin my breath away all the way from over there
Finest girl I swearrrrr
I can’t help but smile.
You look like you’re breathing fine 🙄
I lift my gaze, seeing the blonde rubbing her chest and looking at her phone with a smirk.
Trust me ma
What Linda doin here?
Some sort of unnecessary meeting, I’m not sure why.
What time you getting off work?
I have a couple things to do after this but if you’re done you can go home, I’ll take a cab.
Fuck no i’ll wait
I could do some stretchin
You should join me
I let out a silent chuckle, shaking my head to myself.
Paige!!
What??? Would be good for those tense muscles yk
Could think of sum other stuff to relax you too 😏😏
With a scoff I glance at the blonde who’s already looking with a playful, devilish grin. I look at her scoldingly, watching as she raises her brows and bites her lower lip to kill the smile before pointing at her phone, showing me she wants me to reply.
Why do I have an idea of what that might be?
Yeah?
“So what do you think Izara?” Linda asks, snapping me back to reality.
“Uhh… Of?” I murmur, placing my phone screen down onto the table, thighs burning with the memory of how good the blonde had made me feel just a few days before.
“Do you think we can reach our goal followers-wise or are we being too ambitious?”
I quickly pull myself together, though I’ve barely heard a word. “Certainly if we keep pumping out content every day.” I don’t actually even know what goal we’re talking about.
However, my answer satisfies Linda, her mouth twisting into a smile. “Excellent!”
“Excuse me,” I hum, getting up from the table to grab an extra bottle of water. Paige, who has been watching, does the same, unable to not take advantage of the opportunity to talk to me.
I feel a gentle bump on my arm, eyes immediately snapping to the girl who’s looking smug as I eye the bottles.
“Hey pretty girl,” she whispers, placing a hand on my lower back. I quickly glance back at the media team to make sure no one was looking. To my relief they’re all too busy leaning in to stare at Trey who’s showcasing our latest content on his phone.
“Hey you,” I reply, my voice soft, quiet so no one can hear. Paige stands behind me, eyes skimming the different bottles of drinks as if mulling over her decision on what to get. But I know better. She’s stalling to stay talking to me. We had barely had any time to spend alone, my mind too busy wrapped up with work, Paige spending every waking moment on the court trying to get her shot back.
“What are you doing tonight?” I ask, reaching over for the bottle and holding it in my hand. Paige thinks for a second, grabbing a bottle of gatorade. All I can do is stare at her hands, mesmerised. Perfect hands that made me feel so incredible.
“Uhh nothing, why?”
“I’m coming over.”
Paige’s ears turn red, as she clears her throat, the idea immediately getting the younger girl flustered.
“Y-Yeah okay Iz,” she whispers, voice trembling a little. The effect I have on the girl makes me smile. It pleased me to know I had so much power over her. Little did she know she held just as much power over me, I was just much better at hiding it. However, my cheeks turn a hint of pink thinking about the possibilities of what might happen once we get a moment alone.
“Okay Paige,” I smile, eyes stuck on her flushed face. “I’ll see you in a couple hours.”
-
Waiting a couple hours had turned out to be much harder than I had planned, the thought of Paige’s hands on my body enough to have me growing wet in a matter of minutes. I couldn’t bear to wait a moment longer to feel the younger girl on me. Paige had felt the same, which had led us to our current predicament, my back pushed against the door of the storage room, the girl kissing my neck feverishly as my hands roam her body. The door handle digs into my lower back painfully but I barely notice.
“Paige,” I whimper, but she silences me with a heated kiss, tongue slipping past my lips into my mouth. My kisses are needy, desperate, a quiet moan spilling out when Paige’s hand kneads my ass, my short skirt hiking up as she does.
“You’re so sexy ma,” the blonde groans, lips glistening as she pulls back to look at me. “Killing me in a skirt like that.”
“Wore it for you,” I tease. Paige melts, moaning just from my words.
My arms wrap around her shoulders as I pull her back into a sloppy, open-mouthed kiss by her hair. The blonde groans, lifting my skirt to squeeze the bare skin underneath, eyes opening to see the purple silk panties I was wearing. I hadn’t been prepared for the first time we slept together the way I liked to be, but after a meeting with my wax lady and a vigorous exfoliation routine last night I was prepared for her, my skin silky and smooth all for her from my head to my toes.
“Look at that,” she whispers, pulling back enough to admire the underwear sitting against my golden skin. “Goddamn.”
“Want you,” I hum, looking at her with round, pleading eyes. Paige takes a deep breath through her nose, groaning as she throws her head back. I know I’m driving her insane.
“We can’t,” she mumbles, rubbing the bridge of her nose in frustration. I’m taken back, slightly embarrassed. I never thought she’d reject me.
“Why not?”
Paige notices the surprise in my face, her blue eyes widening. “No, I want to. So fucking bad, you got no idea baby,” she starts, looking me up and down.
“Then what’s the problem?” I ask, getting annoyed which in turn makes my brows furrow.
“Iz I can’t just keep sleeping with you,” she sighs. “You’re more than that. You deserve more.”
I shake my head, pulling Paige back in by her sweaty T-shirt. She kisses me softly, nuzzling her nose into mine.
“I don’t care. I want you,” I repeat, the ache between my thighs nearly unbearable.
“I care,” the girl whispers, resting her forehead on mine. “Need to take you out on a date before we… y’know.”
I’m surprised, my eyes fluttering open.
“Need to do this right Izzie,” she hums, kissing the top of my head. “Need to take you out before I do all the things I’ve been dying to do to you.”
I nearly collapse at her words, grateful for the strength of her grip on my hips.
“Oh,” I say, feeling the blonde pull my skirt back down hesitantly.
“Please, lemme treat you right ma,” she pleads, kissing both my cheeks softly. “Lemme take you out. Been dying to, ever since I saw you. Please.”
-
Taking a deep breath, I look at my reflection in the mirror once more. White shorts and a white oversized button up, both neatly pressed not a single wrinkle on them. I’ve really gotten tan here. I lean closer to add the signature diamond studs onto my ears, smoothing over the hair slicked back into a low bun. I check my nails one more time, making sure each one is short and filed up to my standards. No, not mine. Up to Izzie’s standards. I look good, I wanted everything to be perfect for her. For my gorgeous, perfect London girl.
I grab the huge bouquet of white lilies and head downstairs, toying with my silver chain as I knock on the door. I don’t remember the last time I had been nervous over a girl before Izzie. So much for my plans to stay celibate this season. Like clockwork, the door opens.
I feel breathless when I see her. She’s wearing a bronze coloured satin dress, the perfect contrast against her skin, with spaghetti straps and a slightly plunging neckline, her breasts on display just enough to make me wanna look for a little too long. The dress isn’t too tight, clinging to her curves in all the right places, the hem ending at her calves. Her skin glows from her arms decorated with gold bracelets, all the way down to her calves and feet, beautifully arched in matching sandals. Izzie looks stunning, glowing with the power of a hundred suns.
I let out a low whistle, unsure what to say. I feel flustered, nervous in front of her. It was as if I was seeing her for the first time all over again, two months ago in this same hallway.
“Whoa,” is all I can say, my palms sweating already.
Izzie giggles and then she does something I’ll never get over. She simply tilts her head, sharp eyes sparkling at me, slender fingers reaching over and fixing the collar of my shirt. And my knees nearly buckle.
“We don’t need to go out,” I mutter, leaning down to kiss the girl. But she tuts softly, pulling back and placing two fingers on my chin to stop me sternly.
“Lipgloss,” she grins, pushing my face back by my jaw playfully. “And yes we do, took me three hours to get ready.”
I can see that, every strand of her black hair carefully set in uniform waves running down her back. All I can do is stare at her, mouth open.
“Paige?” Izzie giggles.
“What?” I ask, cheeks bright red.
“The flowers?”
I glance down at the bouquet in my hand, handing them to the girl. “Oh yeah, these are for you,” I laugh awkwardly, nearly unable to look the girl in the eye.
“I love lilies,” she gleams, inhaling their scent and humming contentedly.
“I know, you told me,” I smile, stepping in as she turns her back on me to put the flowers in a vase. My eyes travel from her hair downwards to the curve of her ass just for a moment, fighting the urge to pull up the hem and dive between her legs. I quickly glance up, trying to keep myself in check. Date first. Be respectful.
“You remembered,” Izzie smiles to herself, setting the flowers onto her dining table. “They’re beautiful. Thank you.”
The girl turns to me, throwing her hands around my shoulders and kissing me lovingly.
“What about your lipgloss?” I mumble against her lips, one hand on her lower back, the other on her neck pulling her in.
“I’ll reapply,” she sighs. I loved the way she was, meticulous and disciplined. But my God did I adore the way she had loosened up around me, the way she seemed to have a newfound ease about her. How she arrived to work yesterday wearing pants and flats, giggling with her co-workers lightheartedly, the pearls of her laughter echoing around every room she entered.
“Shit,” I pull back from the kiss with a struggle. “I got us a car baby, we should go.”
Iz whines in a way that pulls at my heartstrings, her brows furrowing in desperation, tracing her fingers up and down my arms, squeezing my biceps that had grown exponentially during my time in the league.
“You look so gorgeous,” Izzie hums, smoothing over my collar one last time, leaning close and pressing a kiss onto my collarbone. My eyes flutter shut momentarily.
“C’mon,” I sigh. “If we don’t go now we ain’t ever gon leave.”
-
“Paige,” I gasp as she opens the car door for me and I realise where we are.
“What? You like?” The blonde grins, offering her hand to help me out and watching my face for approval. I step onto the pavement, wrapping my arm around hers as we walk into the building, the doorman letting us in with a polite smile. We step into the gorgeous, high-end restaurant, Paige smoothly letting the hostess know that we had arrived.
I had mentioned Monarch countless times in conversation, brought up how the customer from Dallas that left an irrevocable mark on me made me swear to dine there at least once in my life. It was on the pricier side, and I’d grown used to a certain lifestyle which my current pay couldn't maintain so I had been burning through my savings - it simply wasn’t in the budget. Except now, with this millionaire girl on my arm I suppose it did. Truthfully, I would’ve been happy with less. But I won’t lie that she really hit the nail on the head with this one. I mean she listened. Remembering my brother’s name, my favourite flower, now this? She really listened to me. I didn’t know it could be like this.
“Paige,” is all I can mutter out with a happy sigh, my mouth twisting to a smile. Paige tugs at her silver chain absentmindedly, her eyes flickering around the room before always landing back on me.
I slide myself into the booth, Paige following behind me, making me laugh.
“Paige, your plate is on that side,” I giggle, pointing to the set cutlery opposite of me.
“I’ll ask em to move it over here,” she mumbles, her arm snaking around my waist and pulling me close so my side presses into hers, the pressure of her thigh on mine.
“Isn’t that gonna look a little silly?” I chuckle, watching as Paige reaches over the table and moves her entire table arrangement next to mine. I blush, looking around hoping no one noticed. This was a nice place. I could tell it wasn’t the blonde’s scene. Something about that made this even more endearing. It was all for me.
“Ion care if it does, it’s too far from you,” she whines, entangling her fingers with mine underneath the table. My eyes land on her blue ones, her face only a few inches from me. Paige licks her lips, her gaze flickering to my lips. I feel a familiar ache between my thighs return just from the sheer proximity of the blonde, and the smell of her cologne.
“Wanna kiss you so bad right now,” she whispers, both our breathing growing heavy. I nod, wanting the same. But we both knew it was better not to. After Luka was traded out of Dallas Paige was one of the biggest athletes in the entire city. A household name easily. We weren’t just sneaking around behind Linda’s back, we had to keep this on the low from the whole world. It’s not like we had to talk about it - we both knew it.
“Gotta wait,” I hum, jumping slightly as the waiter interrupts the moment, looking to take our orders. Paige, in her American manner, orders multiple side dishes and salads for us to share, the table filled with Wagyu Carpaccio and Octopus. But the real star of the night is the lamb, which the customer made me swear to get if I ever ended up at Monarch.
“Oh my Gosh,” I groan quietly, letting the meat melt into my mouth. I smooth the napkin on my lap, the luxurious linen smooth underneath my palm. Taking a sip of my Merlot, I notice Paige beside me, cutting the gorgeous lamb into multiple bite-size pieces before putting the knife down and beginning to eat with the fork. I watch, astonished, amused and embarrassed at the same time.
“You are so American,” I laugh, swallowing the wine and covering my mouth. The younger girl turns to me, confused.
“Whatchu mean?” She giggles but I eye her plate, rolling my eyes.
“Can you not eat with a fork and a knife at the same time?” I ask, raising my brows. Paige huffs, though the small curl a the corner of her mouth tells me she’s basking in my slightly condescending tone, the scolding lilt of my voice.
“Guess you’ll have to teach me your fancy English ways huh?”
“Oh my Gosh,” I sigh amused.
“The fork is in the wrong handddd,” she complains, continuing to eat, fork on the right hand. I make a mental note to teach her table manners before she meets my parents. Then, realising that she never would, decide to stay quiet. This is just a fling, a summer romance at most. A rebound - it’s what I tell myself to ease the slight panic in my chest when I thought more about what the end of the season would bring, me going back home to London, leaving my American girl here. My one summer in Dallas, cruel and much too short. Just a few months is all we’d ever get. Against my nature, I try not to worry about it, hoving the anxiety to some deep, dark corner of my mind, under all the other things I didn’t want to deal with.
The moment I notice my glass is empty, the blonde is already reaching for the jug of water and pouring me some. I watch closely, heart fluttering with affection.
-
Dinner is amazing, a dream come true. The food, of course, delicious. But even better is the satisfied smile on the dark haired girl’s face. The way her eyes gleamed every time she looked at me. The sound of her sweet laughter whenever I did anything she redeemed “American”. The slightly condescending manner with which she corrected my table manners, praising me every time I did something right. Every cell in me wanted to please her. Hear more of her “good job” and “that’s it”. Feel the hand on my shoulder squeezing, affirming her words. I was ecstatic, even more so knowing that this was just the first of many dates. That I would get to take Izara out for years to come, hear her praises forever if I played my cards right. And I desperately wanted this to be forever. I know I was going way too fast. But I couldn’t help my mind from picturing her in a white dress, playing with our children, waiting for me at home after practice.
“I’m so full,” Izzie sighs, leaning back against the booth and rubbing up and down my arm affectionately. “You did so good with this darling.”
I melt, my eyes nearly rolling back at her praise, never mind the pet name.
“Lemme order you some dessert,” I nearly whine, my plate finished much earlier than Izara’s.
The girl leans over and checks the dessert menu, quickly skimming it over and scrunching her face.
“You too full baby?”
“Could we just go out and get some ice cream from a stand?” The girl asks, her green eyes fluttering at me. How could I ever say no?
“You sure? They got some nice dessert here. Fancy,” I ask, flipping the menu over in my hand. I wanted the girl to have whatever she wanted. I wanted to give her the entire world.
Izzie nods, placing her hand on my thigh. “Don’t want fancy, just want some ice cream.” I’m surprised, thinking the fancier the better. Maybe I was wrong.
-
The Dallas night is still as hot as the day, but there’s a pleasant breeze in place of the scorching sun from earlier. Izara looks even more beautiful in the glow of the city lights and under the twinkling night sky. I can’t tear my eyes away, nearly running into a pole from staring at her so much.
“Could I taste yours?” Izzie asks, handing me her chocolate ice cream cone. Wordlessly, without hesitation, I give her my strawberry cone, honestly ready to turn around and order five more of them for her.
I watch closely as Izara’s tongue darts out to taste the ice cream, a jolt running down my spine to my core, with dirty thoughts flooding my mind.
“Mmh, this is delicious,” she murmurs.
“Take it,” I say without hesitation. Izzie hums, accepting my offer quickly. Almost as if she expected it. Something about it drove me wild.
We walk around the city, hand in hand, easily blending in with the crowd, not worrying about familiar faces, making sure that with every turn I was walking on the street side, keeping her safe. I felt proud walking side by side with Izara, knowing that people walking by knew she was all mine. That I got a girl like this, far from my league. I wanted everyone to know that she’s mine - having to keep this hidden would turn out to be much harder than I imagined. Still, the idea of this being our little secret felt exciting.
The breeze and the ice cream cause goosebumps to form all over Izzie’s arms, a slight chill running through her. I curse myself in my head for not bringing a sweater, making a mental note to never go anywhere without one for her from now on.
“You ever miss London?” I ask, pulling her closer by her waist out of the way of someone walking by.
“No,” she quickly replies, surprisingly bluntly. I’m taken aback.
“Not at all?”
Izzie shakes her head. “Too many bad things in London.”
I immediately understand what she means. Jasper. At least the desperate phone calls had seemed to stop.
“You really don’t miss anything?”
The dark haired girl thinks for a while. “Well, I miss the chocolate. Nothing here tastes like Cadbury.”
We walk around, eager to finish the chocolate ice cream Iz ordered, but I slow down, trying to match the pace with which she’s eating out of politeness. My blue eyes roam her face, trying to memorise each little detail. Her dark, perfectly arched brows, long lashes darkened with mascara, plump lips with only a hint of the lipstick from earlier, fading from eating the ice cream. Her dark curls stick to her neck, desperate to escape the carefully shaped waves, golden necklace dangling at her collarbone. I reach over, my cold fingers making the girl jump when they adjust the clasp, dragging against her skin from the base of her neck to the back.
We come to a stop, Izara’s green eyes lined with black glimmering, her face turning different colors as ads flash red, blue, green on a screen by the sidewalk. The words spill from between my lips faster than I can think, let alone stop myself.
“I really like you Iz,” I murmur, looking into the girl’s eyes. “I mean, I think I’m fallin’ for you.”
Her breath hitches, eyes softening only for a moment, and then widening. With surprise? With panic? I’m not sure. I wouldn’t blame her. It wasn’t something you said on a first date. I wanted to smack the back of my own head for that. I quickly look up, in a momentary prayer hoping God would let me rewind just 20 seconds. But no one answers my request.
“Shit, I’m sorry if it’s too much. You don’t gotta say anything okay?” I tell Izzie, avoiding her gaze.
“It’s okay love,” she smiles, thumb brushing against my skin comfortingly. However, I see a hint of hesitation on her face. “But Paige I thi-”
“Look, let’s just forget I said that aight?” I ask, my chest aching, begging to God I didn’t just ruin this before it could even start.
“Paige,” Iz sighs, trying to comfort me. But I could tell she felt uneasy about something. “I think we just gotta remember that we need to be really careful about this, yeah?”
I sigh nodding. She’s right. “Yeah.”
“I mean the stakes aren't the same for you and me. If we get caught,” she starts, letting out a heavy breath. “I’ll be back in London in no time. You however would be completely fine.”
I nod, wanting the girl to know I was really hearing her out. “Gon be really careful okay?”
“No slip ups.”
“No ma’am,” I answer reassuringly.
“And you can’t tell anyone. Not a soul. Not Arike, not Lou, no one. They can’t know.”
“I agree,” I tell the girl. “Look, I meant what I said. Whatever you want me to be I’mma be.”
The girl smiles, for a moment I think there’s a hint of sadness there, but it’s gone just as fast as it appeared. “Today’s been… amazing.”
I bite my lower lip, hand coming to her lower back just for a moment. There was nothing in this world that felt as good as hearing her praise. Maybe winning the national championship. Top two things I’ve ever experienced.
“Wanted it to be special for you, Iz,” I hum, blushing a little. Just as she’s about to answer, her phone rings.
“It’s Trey,” she murmurs. Of course it is. I can’t help but roll my eyes, watching as she raises the phone to her ear and answers. That’s how we walk back to the car, the girl next to me talking animatedly on the phone about whatever, my irritation growing with each moment. I knew they were friends. But everytime she giggled or laughed at whatever the man on the phone was saying, my jaw clenched and breathing grew heavier.
“Okay, Trey I really must go. I’ll see you in a couple days,” Izzie, who had been trying to politely end the call, says. I hear Trey’s defiant protests all the way from the driver’s seat, making me want to grab the girl’s phone and hang up for her.
Iz laughs politely at whatever he said. “Treeyy, I’ll talk to you about this at work okay? Alright, bye now.”
Finally, she hangs up.
“I’m so sorry, I thought it might be about work but he was just calling to explain about some sort of couch he was considering getting,” Iz chuckles, finally turning her gaze to me.I feel my annoyance settle down the moment her eyes land on me. Having her attention just had the effect of soothing me. Still, it bothered me that the girl was so oblivious to Trey’s obsession with her. I sigh, chewing on the inside of my cheek.
“What?” Izzie asks, noticing my irritation as we sit in the parked car.
“You know he likes you, right?”
Izara rolls her eyes. “Don’t start with that again.”
“It’s true.”
“It’s not.”
I turn to her, raising my brows. “You prolly don’t see it but I do. He’s always calling or texting you, following you around or tryna touch you. All the time. He obsessed, trust.”
Izzie scoffs, turning to me. “I think you’re just reading into it too much.”
I shake my head. “He likes you.”
She looks like she's about to get defensive, but then her face softens. “Well, even if he does, I don’t care.”
“You don’t?” I ask, my voice growing needy.
“No darling,” she hums quietly, reaching over and placing her dainty hand on mine. “I couldn’t care less about Trey.”
My heart flutters, the warmth in my chest spreading all over my body, chills forming underneath her touch. All the frustration and annoyance that had been growing are replaced with affection now that I feel reassured
“Yeah?” I ask carefully, nearly flinching at how whiny it comes out.
Izzie smiles, leaning over the center console and kissing my cheek. I catch a whiff of the pear and lavender notes of her perfume, my head spinning.
“Yeah.”
I lean over too, my lips finally crashing against hers, both hands holding her face gently like a baby bird, doing everything in my power not to disrupt her. Her lips taste like strawberries, and a hint of red wine from dinner. The wine had loosened Izzie up, her body turning into putty in the passenger seat just from one kiss.
Her hands wrap around my neck, scratching at the back of my neck to pull me impossibly closer. I groan, arousal growing quickly between my thighs. A passing car honks, reminding me of our surroundings and the fact that the windows were not tinted. At the sudden realisation, I pull back abruptly, wiping my lips.
Izzie looks breathless, cheeks flushed and lips parted and glossy.
You wanna come to mine, ma?” I ask, or rather plead. The thought of getting to bring her home after had been the only force to give me the strength to keep my hands to myself all night.
“Yes,” she simply exhales. I feel a thrill, pulling out of the parking lot and beginning to head towards our home, my hand never leaving her thigh, mind filled with the thoughts of lifting the skirt and diving into her.
-
My chest heaves as we climb the stairs, Izara’s heels tapping against the marble and echoing in the corridor. As I open the door, I let the dark-haired girl in, my heartbeat loud in my ears.
“Whoa,” she gasps. Stepping inside after her, I watch her face brighten as a trail of red rose petals on the floor leads all the way to the bedroom, just as I had set them before picking her up.
I step closer, pressing my front against her back, leaning down to kiss her neck as my hands find their position on her waist. I loved that even in heels she was a few inches shorter than me. Her body melts into me quickly, the curve of her ass pressing into my hips. The satin is smooth and cool under my fingertips, and her neck smells like her perfume and the fruity hair products she uses. Guava?
“You did this?” she asks, her voice gasping as my lips glide against her neck, feeling for her pulse under my kisses.
Finally, I find the steady beating on the side of her long neck, my lips wrapping around it and sucking. Izzie exhales softly, her hands finding mine at her waist.
“Mhmm,” I hum, nuzzling my nose into her ear before kissing it feverishly. I needed her so desperately, like I had been travelling the desert for days and finally found an oasis filled with fresh water and sweet fruit and cool shade. I’m surprised I’m even able to stand upright.
“Oh so you knew I’d be coming over? That’s how you see me?” Her voice is stern, sending a jolt through my body. It makes me want to get on my knees and apologize, repent.
“N-No baby, I mean I was hopin’ but I didn’t assume. Iz, I swear I don-”
I’m joking, Paige,” she laughs, craning her neck to look into my face, an amused smile on her lips. My cheeks turn red as I laugh at myself.
I walk the girl forward, following the rose petals into the bedroom. They reach the bed, the white sheets decorated with the flower petals as well. Izara looks around, a smile on her face. I feel the ache between my thighs grow knowing I had made her happy.
Before I can say anything, she flips around to face me, kissing me heatedly. Her mouth is wide open against mine, tongue circling mine and fingers digging into my shoulders.
“Lemme light the candles,” I hiss, furrowing my brows and trying to pull away. But Izzie pulls me in by my collar, kissing me again.
“Fuck the candles,” she murmurs and, to my surprise, walks me backward into the bed.
I crash onto my back, Izzie pushing me down by my chest. “Let me dim the lights,” she says, but I grab her hand.
“Please don’t,” I whisper, my brows furrowing. “Wanna see you baby.”
She hesitates for a moment, but I grab her hand and bring it to my lips, kissing it gently. “Please.”
Izzie pulls her hand back, convinced by the simple gesture, and reaches behind her back to her zipper. She unzips the dress far too slow, driving me insane. I wanted her now. So I whine, furrowing my brows and squirming on the bed, but the girl only shakes her head, slipping one strap off her shoulder. I nearly pass out.
“Patience,” Iz tells me, her voice low and gravelly. I can’t look away, wetting my lips with my tongue as I watch the second strap fall from her shoulder, the dress finally hitting the floor.
“Oh shit,” I murmur to myself, my boxers growing wetter and wetter the moment I realise she wasn’t wearing a bra at all, her body only covered with black lace panties. My gaze is stuck on her chest though, her round breasts covered in goosebumps. Breathing heavy, I sit up, mouth watering to wrap my lips around her hard nipple, to knead the skin.
“Nuh uh,” Izzie snaps, pushing me back down onto my back. I feel a thrill, surprised to find how much this turned me on. I was so used to being the one in charge, I didn’t even know how insanely hot it would be for the dark haired girl to be giving me commands. Though, in hindsight, I probably should have known from the way my core throbbed everytime she demanded something from me.
“Iz,” I groan, watching as her nimble fingers begin to unbutton my shirt, painfully slowly. I feel like I might pass out.
“Remember what I said baby,” she hums, straddling my hips, thighs becoming even thicker on both sides of me as she sits down on them. Izzie leans down, lips hovering over my ear, hot breath tickling it. “Patience,” she whispers, and then ghosts my skin, leaving me writhing.
Finally she pulls my shirt open, revealing the white sports bra underneath. Her long nail drags from my neck downwards, to my chest, and finally to the muscles of my abdomen.
“You’re so beautiful,” I whine, watching the way her eyes darken as she gazes down at me. My hands come to her hips, easily reaching over to knead her ass. To my relief, she lets me, exhaling heavily and throwing her head back as I feel her skin. My hands feel up her sides, to her breast, kneading them in each hand and bucking my hips to look for any relief on my soaked core.
My chest heaves vigorously, right hand dragging downwards, down the skin of her stomach, fingertips dipping into the band. I needed to feel her. Now. I was dying, and I needed to make sure she didn’t feel like I did, desperate and throbbing.
“No,” Iz says, grabbing my wrist. I look at her pleadingly, eyes nearly welling up at the thought of how wet she might be.
“Please,” I whine. “Ride my fingers ma.”
Izzie’s eyes flutter shut at this, but sternly, she shakes her head. leaning down to kiss me. It’s sloppy, our tongues meeting in heated movements, spit covering both our mouths. The girl on top of me continues her open mouthed kisses, finding her way from my neck downwards. It’s then I realise what she’s about to do, the puddle between my legs growing unbearable.
I maneuver upward on the bed, too wet to notice the nervousness in the girl’s eyes when she starts kissing along the band of my shorts, hands coming to pull them down.
“Fuck ma,” I whimper, my entire body shaking with need. I had been dreaming of this moment, spent many hours lying in my bed with my hand between my legs imagining what her green, sharp, catlike eyes would look watching up at me.
She leaves me in my boxers, nails digging into my inner thighs as she spreads my legs apart.
“Please,” I murmur, eyes fluttering shut from how badly my cunt is soaking through the white boxers.
“What’s wrong my love?” Izzie asks, voice so sweet it’s bordering on condescending as she leans down between my legs, kissing my thighs, biting the skin. The wine had made her bolder, more liberated. It drove me insane.
“Need you baby,” I whine, bucking my hips. It’s no use, the dark haired girl’s hands holding my body still.
“What do you need from me darling?” She asks, fingertips playing with the band of my boxers in a way that made me want to flip her over and take her this very moment.
“Shit,” I hiss to myself, wiping the sweat off my forehead. “Baby please. touch me. Gon’ die if you don’t.”
“Yeah? You want my mouth?”
She’s pressing kisses on top of the soaked fabric of my boxers now, brushing lightly against my clit. I need more, so insanely bad. I feel like I might explode.
“Mhm,” I whimper, my voice shakier and needier than I liked - not that I cared much in this very moment.
“Tell me baby,” she smiles, looking up at my scrunched up face, slowly pulling down the last layer of fabric between her and where I needed her most.
“I-” I’m stuttering, overwhelmed, feeling like I might cum just purely from the sight. “Your mouth, mama, please.”
As I say the words, she pulls my boxers down, and begins to kiss around my wet cunt, everywhere but where I need her the most. Still, I’m moaning like crazy, knowing there must be a few concerned neighbours listening by now. I couldn’t care less.
Finally, the dark haired girl touches my clit, starting with small kitten licks.
“That’s it, holy shit,” I gasp, hands coming down to her hair, trying to maintain the urge to yank it wherever I want her.
“Mhmm,” she moans against my core, lips wrapping around my clit and sucking gently.
“Fuck, you’re so- holy shit,” I murmur, unable to think straight, legs already shaking, chest heaving uncontrollably. I can’t tear my eyes away from hers, as she looks up at me. my thighs on each side of her face.
“Taste so good,” she mumbles, a blush on her cheeks from the filthy words. Still, she keeps going, the vibrations of her moans bringing me closer and closer. Embarrassingly, it doesn’t take long for that familiar heat to start spreading in my abdomen, making my pussy throb around nothing as her tongue flicks back and forth in my folds.
“Make me feel so good, fuck baby, look at you,” I praise, my voice high pitched and whiny. “Look so fuckin’ pretty between my le- aw shit.”
I feel it, already growing hotter and hotter, the fire inside me making my muscles tense.
“I- I’m so cl-” I whimper, yanking on the girl’s hair.
“Baby,” Iz moans, wrapping her lips around my clit while her tongue flicks against it, making it impossible to hold back.
“Keep doin’ that, don’t stop. Don’t st-” I cry out, legs trembling and muscles tensing as the girl between my legs keeps pushing me closer and closer. “Shit mama, I’m gon’ cum.”
With that, I tip over the edge, pleasure crashing through my body, writhing and moaning. The orgasm is just as intense as it was fast, making my grip tighten around Izzie’s hair as she keeps up with the movement of her tongue.
As I come back down, the dark haired girl climbs back up, kissing me with authority. I feel embarrassed, from how wet her face is, and most of all from how fast I came. Couldn’t have been more than two minutes. It was something about her that made me yield, completely submit to her, my body too weak to fight it.
“Well that was quick,” Izzie giggles as she pulls away from me. I roll my eyes, flipping the girl on her back.
“Just wanted it to be your turn fast ma,” I mumble, beginning to kiss her neck.
-
“Oh fuck, fuck, fuck, P- Paige, fuck,” I cry out, tears filling my eyes as Paige presses on my lower back, pinning my hips down against the mattress. Her fingers are buried deep inside me, slipping in and out of me with a rapid pace, making my pussy drip all over the sheets. It was overwhelming, the strength of her fingers something I had never experienced before - what didn’t help was the three times I had already cum after she finished.
“Just one more, I promise. Swear baby. Can feel how much you’re throbbing around my fingers,” Paige coos, pressing sloppy kisses onto my sweaty back before sitting back up and kneading on the skin of my ass to get deeper inside me. Something about her filthy words made me willing to keep going, my orgasm building quickly from how sensitive I had been left after the past couple hours.
“Baby,” I cry out, grabbing the sheets desperately, tears spilling down my cheeks into the cotton blanket underneath me, sticking to my skin.
“So perfect,” the blonde groans, eyes watching closely the way my pussy molded around her fingers, stretched out just for her, gushing around the long digits slipping in and out.
“P- I’m gonna-” I gasp, back arching as the muscles inside me coil tighter and tighter.
“C’mon ma, lemme make you cum,” she moans, leaning back down and kissing my ear, her hot breath sending chills all over as her fingers keep pumping into me. “So fuckin’ gorgeous you know that?”
With a high pitched whine, the coil finally snaps, my core clenching around her fingers as she makes me cum for the fourth time that night. My entire body trembles, hands grabbing the sheets desperately. The blonde brings her free hand to mine, long digits entangling with mine comfortingly.
“That’s it, fuck, look at you,” Paige murmurs into my ear, talking me through it as the waves of pleasure wash over me. I feel sore, tired, but in that moment everything else is forgotten, except the ecstasy taking over my entire existence, and the blonde’s praise in my ear.
“You are so fucking sexy,” the blonde whispers into my ear, slipping her fingers out of me and wrapping a comforting arm around me. In a haze, I nustle myself into her side, still attempting to slow down my rapid breathing.
I chuckle, finally opening my eyes and flipping onto my back. I couldn’t believe how many times she had just gotten me off. Most of all I couldn’t believe I let her do that all to me with all the lights on, and enjoyed it too much to even care.
We both lie in each other’s arms, completely naked. Paige’s blonde hair is falling out of her bun, sweat glistening against her bare arms, covered in veins from the strain. She’s breathing loudly through her nose, watching my face. Surely I looked horrendous, makeup all over my face, hair fully out of place, curls wild and unruly. But the younger girl’s blue eyes continue to stare, soft and adoring. She leans in, pressing a soft kiss onto my forehead, loaded with emotion - feelings I wasn’t ready to face.
“You’re so beautiful,” Paige whispers, nuzzling her nose into mine. My heart flutters almost painfully. At that moment I know - I’m in trouble. That leaving Dallas behind after the season is over won’t be as effortless as I had hoped. I decide to worry about that later, wrapping my leg around the blonde and pressing my naked body against hers.
“So are you,” I murmur, letting Paige cocoon me with her big arms.
"One more time ma, please?"

Before my anxiety became debilitating, I was able to do my job, eat the food I enjoyed, go on long drives blasting loud music with the windows down, and enjoy my hobbies.
As I got older, my anxiety started interrupting those things little by little, but I kept telling myself it was fine because it was only for a few days, or I had an exam coming up and blamed that. At that point I thought the worst was throwing up before an exam or having a panic attack because I knew I was failing a class- all things that I had external excuses for and made me conclude that my anxiety was logical.
A year ago, I had already been out of college for 2 years so no exams, my anxiety spiked out of the blue and hung around for 2 whole weeks. I couldn’t eat without feeling like I was going to vomit or lose all of my teeth. I had to have my wife drive me to work because I was convinced if I got behind the wheel, I would crash my car. I couldn’t use any of my hobbies to district myself, all I could do was sit in bed or on the couch and cry over how hungry and scared I was.
I messaged my doctor about how I was struggling and I’m so grateful they got me on meds. My meds aren’t perfect, I still have anxious days, but at least now I can eat even when I’m anxious. At least now I can use my hobbies as a health distraction when I’m anxious. I can blast music in my car again to keep me focused while driving.
My meds didn’t cure my anxiety, but they allow me to still be me even with the anxiety.
90s movies: Psychopharmacology is as good as a lobotomy. If you take pills to treat your mental illness it will literally murder your imaginary friends and you will become a boring, lotus-eating conformist drone.
Me after taking my meds: drives the scenic route home to see if there are any geese on the pond and does a little dance in line at the grocery store and comes home to throw everything in my fridge into a stew pot because I can finally taste food again while singing songs at my birds in which I replace all the instances of "she" with "Cheese" and doing a Dolly Parton impression on the phone to my sister

GLASS SHOES
Pairing: Nagi Seishiro x Reader
"In the midst of the many beautiful guests and opulent decorations, the lazy prince can only see one person - you." (Cinderella AU)
Note: I def did not imagine Nagi wearing this outfit of him in the official art lmao lmao. But anyways, midway through editing I realized Nagi's eyes were GREY and NOT BROWN which pissed me off (mandela effect is wildin) so forgive me if there are some instances I called his eyes brown.

"That boy will never learn, will he?!"
A loud bang echoed throughout the large meeting room inside the gargantuan and lavish palace. The king, who frequently received reports from his men about his only son, the crown prince was once again more than angry about the news he received.
The duke, who was with the king, cowered as His Majesty threw a small tantrum about how his son will never listen, or about how he does not take his duties seriously.
"Your m-majesty, I believe we just have to be patient-"
"I AM PATIENT, AND I HAD ALWAYS BEEN, ESPECIALLY WITH HIM!"
The old king's face turned into a comical cherry red, which got the duke a little worried for his health, patting the smaller male's back with the intent to comfort the furious and weary king.
"Sleeping in his sword fighting lessons, escaping his philosophy and politics lectures just to play in the carnivals, and now letting the Princess of Marais await him just because he did not want to get married and slept in?! Ridiculous!! Oh, how will I face that dear girl's family."
The king finally fell to his chair in exhaustion. He hated to stress himself or be mad at his beloved son, but Seishiro always did bring out the childish, unreasonable anger in him, especially since the boy had been the way he was since he was born.
Seishiro had always been the lazy kid, a characteristic no one knew where it originated. Both his parents were responsible and dignified leaders of the kingdom, something their subjects praised them for for years. The only thing that kept him from making the kingdom fall on its roots was the fact that he was a genius.
Playing the piano beautifully at the young age of 10, beating his fencing master at the age of 12, and even outsmarting his tactics mentor at the age of 15. He seemed to just get anything that was taught to him in such a short time and without any struggle too.
How befitting of the nickname the Lazy Genius Prince that most of the people in the kingdom called him.
"I just want to see him happy. For him to settle down and find someone he loves just like how I did at his age. Not wasting his time in his dreams slumbering away or playing those mindless games. I'm not getting younger, after all..."
The king let out a deep sigh, a frown on his face. Ever since his beloved wife died, it was a little harder to get through and communicate with Seishiro, seeing that she was closer to their son than he was. She always did know what to say or do just to make their Seishiro interested.
A regret that the king placed upon his shoulder is that the prince mostly grew up alone since both he and the late queen had always been busy. Slaving themselves away to make sure the kingdom was prosperous, but what they did not know is they also slaved themselves away into being close to nothing in their son's life.
And due to this, he became like this. Completely dissociated from the world.
"Oh, it's all my fault... I should have been a better father. My poor Seishiro..."
He sobbed dramatically as the duke patted his back.
"It's fine, your majesty. Perhaps we should just leave him to decide for himself-"
"Leave him alone?! Oh no, no, you see, tonight is a special night!"
The king laughed, cheering as if he was not just sobbing his heart out a few seconds ago. He sat again on his chair, grinning like an evil mastermind.
"Tonight? You mean the ball in honor of the princess-"
"No, no, NO! Not just that! But I made sure that ALL the eligible maiden in my kingdom is to attend. I'm sure he won't be interested in most of them, but he is surely to like one them isn't he?"
"But sire-"
"Oh, lighten up! HE MOST DEFINITELY WILL!"
The king started to hop around in excitement, thinking about the prospect of his only son married to a beautiful and sweet girl, along with him finally having the grandchildren he had always wanted.

"Time out, Reo..."
"C'mon, Your Highness. We just started less than 3 minutes ago."
Still, the albino prince did not listen. Slumping on the grass face first, not even minding that the dirt was tainting his pristine white uniform. No, he just continued sprawling himself on the grass and dirt, his sword left clanging on the ground.
Seishiro and his right-hand man and the heir of the duke, Lord Reo were currently training their swordsmanship. Well, mostly it was Reo taking it seriously, and Seishiro always tries to find a way to escape the training or take a long break.
Seeing as to how the white-haired prince seldom moved, Reo let out a sigh of resignation before sitting beside him on the grass.
"Fine, only a few minutes before someone sees us not training."
Seishiro did not seem to hear his companion. His grey eyes just focused on looking at the beautiful blue sky. Behind his distracted eyes were many thoughts that ran through his head, thoughts he did not want to think about and found a hassle, but he could not get off his mind no matter how hard he tried.
"You alright?"
"Hmm...Reo, do I really have to find a wife in the ball tonight?"
His words came out lazily slurred. However, there is a hint of something beneath it, something that only those who knew Seishiro well can hear. Annoyance? Disappointment? Sadness? The purple-haired lord could not decipher it, but he gave the prince a smile and a pat on the shoulder.
"Unfortunately, yes. Our kingdom needs a future queen, and well, you know that it's part of our duties as noblemen. Especially you, being the crown prince."
He nodded, turning his attention to the sky once again, still sprawling out on the grass. He let out a curious hum.
"How will I even know who to choose? It's not like I know any girl at all. Hmm...what a hassle everything is. I don't want to get married nor do I wanna be king, anyways."
"Don't be like that! You have been training for this all your life. It will be such a waste to abandon it all. And, you can always interact with them and find someone you find common grounds with."
But the concept of marriage and love still felt a big thing to the prince. He had a good example of love, his father and late mother loved each other dearly, and his father was not the same after she sadly passed. However, did he wish for that same connection with someone? No.
It felt like a hassle. A hassle to care so much about someone that you have to change the way you live to respond to them. It is a hassle to feel something so heavy, to always be cautious, so your heart can not be broken. The same way his father did just to please his own mother and vice versa, only for his heart to be broken once his beloved died of a ruthless illness.
"I don't wanna do it, Reo. Too much of a bother."
He turned and fell face first on the soft grass, which only made the duke's son sigh as he thought out loud.
"I wonder how your future fiancée will handle you, your highness. I give her all my regards and respect. Now c'mon, let's start training again."
"Nooo..."
Tumblr media
"There will be so many beautiful dresses and decorations. Oh, I can imagine hearing the beautiful orchestral music or even seeing people dance elegantly! I can imagine the ball would be something out of a fairytale."
You wistfully imagined, dancing about the cold and dusty storage room with a broom in one hand and a duster in another. You looked out the window of the room where from a far, you can make out the tall and majestic palace.
For years, you had always been stuck in this manor. Filled with responsibility over responsibility whilst mourning the once bright atmosphere of the place. This was once a house filled with laughter and love. Love between your father, mother and you.
But, it all changed when your mother died due to her illness, and your father remarried once again after a few years. At first, you were happy for your father. He met someone who made him happy and feel loved again, and additionally to that, you will be having two sisters your age. Oh, how exciting could that be!
However, when your father also passed away, everything in the house changed. You were banished from your once cozy room into the attic, forced to do the household chores due to the fact your stepmother was not good at handling the money of your father, and consequently, lost many workers that once worked under the family manor as a form of damage control.
You never gave up hope, though. Hope that you will be free and one day have your dreams of a happy and loving life like you did before come true. But, for now, daydreams are all that you have and so, you dream.
"Welp, no time dancing around. I have to finish all of these so stepmother can allow me to go to the prince's ball."
You went back to dusting, brooming, and overall arranging the dozens of boxes in the storage room that are mostly filled with old dresses, jewelry, or other knic knacks your stepsisters bought and seldom used again.
After that, you went downstairs to prepare lunch to which you bumped into your stepfamily.
"Oh, Y/n! Polish these shoes perfectly, you hear? It has to be perfect so the prince himself can only look at me tonight!" Ai said, putting a box of shoes in the already large pile of cleaning supplies and other dresses they asked you to fix.
"No! Iron this first! It needs to be perfrctly straight and crisp! I will have the prince's attention on ME, Ai!" Chie cut off as the two started to argue again. You just heaved a sigh and walk away from them to start doing everything they asked you to, knowing you can not afford to dilly dally as the hours ticked and you still have not finished some tasks, especially now that they added a few more on your already overflowing plate.
As expected, when the coach arrived, it was just then that you finished your chores and therefore did not have any time to fix the old dress your mother passed down to you. It was a beautiful dress. However, it was old and needed a few alterations, or else some part of it would probably rip the moment you even put it on.
"Why, child. Why are you not ready yet?" You hear the dreaded voice of your stepmother, hearing the hidden satisfaction in her tone, seeing as you will not be going.
"I'm not going." You said, trying not to let the unshed tears fall or the shake in your voice be heard.
"Not going? Oh, what a shame."
"It's nothing. Please, have a wonderful night."
You headed up to your room, or if you can even call the attic, that. You looked out your window to see the rest of the kingdom, and from afar, you can see the palace as it shined bright amidst the black tint of the night sky due to probably the many chandeliers and other reflective and illuminating materials around its opulent build.
"My only chance to have something fun at least for once...it's the only time I am even a part of the demographic of a ball. Yet... yet I can not even go."
A sigh of sadness and disappointment left you. You were not an idiot and you knew that all the stalling your stepfamily did was to prevent you from ever going. But, you still could not understand why they did not want you to go. It was not like you wanted to get in their way of marrying the prince. You just wanted one night. One night of respite and fun from the hellish life you currently lived in.
Resting your head on the frame of the window, you feel your heart break a little at the thought of missing this one night of supposed fun. Well, that was until you noticed your lamp lighting up. Turning around, you found all your animal friends, those that you have taken cared of over the years of loneliness in this place, gathered up as they showed you a beautiful dress, one that was familiar enough yet altered so perfectly that it became a bit unrecognizable at first.
"It's perfect! It's so beautiful, thank you so much all of you! I owe you all!"
The mice and birds all look proud of themselves as they tweet and squeak before pointing at the dressing room, urging you to change quickly before the coach or your stepfamily left.
Tumblr media
"Remember, girls. No slouching, arguing, pitter-pattering, or mischievous chattering. Just poise and elegance. You must attract Prince Seishiro's attention and nothing more. Understood?"
"Yes, mother." Ai and Chie said at the same time to which the elder woman nodded approvingly as the two fixed their larger than life dresses.
"Wait, please, wait for me!"
A call got them to turn to the staircase where they found you in a simple yet beautiful dress and your hair simply done. You doned no jewellery, make-up, or beautiful shoes since you did not have any, just a beautiful smile and a genuine heart.
"Well, well, it seemed you found a rather...acceptable dress to the ball, child."
"Yes. Oh, I promise I won't bother you at all. I just really want to see the palace and go out even just for tonight."
"I see, I see..." Your stepmother walked closer and closer to you, her eyebrows raised, and her eyes held no good intent as they glared at the dress from top the bottom. Her smile spoiled and bitter, the same way the glint in her eyes shone.
"However, I don't presume you think me and my daughters will be going to the ball wearing these just to have someone beside us wear...this. It's preposterous and humiliating, after all." She said snarkily, the pretend smile still on her face as she touched the sleeves as if examining it at first, before pulling it with such a force that the fragile fabric ripped.
You gasped, trying to pull back. However, you were outnumbered as Ai grabbed the skirt and pulled it so harshly that it ripped too.
"And the fabric is absolutely filthy, mother! The prince and the other nobles will certainly get sick the moment she enters in this monstrosity!"
Chie, not wanting to be left out, grabbed your hair, making the hard work you put on to fix your hair vanish as it fell down from its updo.
"And her hair us absolutely hideous, mother. We will the laughingstock of the entire palace!"
It all happened too fast. In the blink of an eye, all the hard work of your friends and the memory of your mother that all centered around this one dress was ruined. The moment the door clicked as your stepfamily left the manor, you ran out to the nearby well in the backyard of the manor and finally, the long held back tears dropped from your eyes.
All the frustrations, abuse, sadness, and insecurities that piled up throughout the years of mistreatment and enslavement under your supposed family left through warm teardrops, falling into the deep well. No formed words were needed to translate to anyone that might be seeing (including your animal friends who peeked at you) you as your sobs and tears were enough to know that you were heartbroken and had had enough of everything. That your psyche was close, if not, already falling apart.
"Why are you crying, my child?"
You hear a voice ask from behind you. Turning around, you found an old lady, soot covering her face with nothing on but a thin and old dress, keeping her supposedly warm from the cold wind of the night. You wiped your tears and swallowed the sobs that racked your throat.
"It's nothing, ma'am. Umm, are you alright? It's too cold for you to out here, especially tonight."
"Oh, I don't have anywhere to stay at. I will be fine here."
But, you knew that it was impossible. You were already shivering, what more an old lady garbed in nothing but a thin, worn-out dress? So, you did what you do best, helping her up into the stables where it was definitely warmer, giving her a blanket and a fresh cup of water straight from the well.
"You did not have to do this for me, dear."
"It's nothing, ma'am. I can't just leave you out there in the cold tonight. Sorry if the stables are a little stinky, but it's safer and warmer here. I'll clean it up tonight for you, if you want."
Just as you were about to get a rake and a bucket, her hand immediately stopped you. Her hands were nimble and wrinkly. However, it was warm and soft to the touch. She gave you a warm and kind smile before shaking her head.
"Oh no, dear. We can't have you dirtying yourself before going to the ball now, can we?"
"Huh? The ball-"
You were cut off when small sparkly butterflies and flower petals surrounded her figure. Her once dirty and worn-out clothes turned into a beautiful and magical white and blue dress, her wrinkly and soot covered face turned into one of a beautiful middle-aged woman with beautiful bouncy locks of hair.
She heaved out a few coughs, flicking her wrist and shooing the sparkly dust that fell upon her from her previous transformation.
"This is why I hate using fairy dust. Anyways! Thank you for your kindness, my dear! I am so happy to see my cute goddaughter turn into such a beautiful and kind young woman."
"Goddaughter..? Then you must be-!"
"Your Fairy Godmother, of course! I know it must be a little shocking, but I heard your cries, love. So what's the matter, hm? You can tell your lil, ol' godmother."
She cupped your face, her hands warm and loving, the opposite of your stepmother's cold and callous hold earlier when she ripped your dress. Speaking of dress, you looked down at your dress before turning to your godmother.
"It's just...I want to go to the ball, however I can't because I don't have-"
"Oh, of course! You don't have a ride there! Then you must not worry, my dear. This is why your beloved fairy godmother is here!"
She looked around for her supposed 'wand' only for her to find it inside the well's bucket? Not wanting to complicate magic in your mind, you just smiled at her as she pointed her wand at a pumpkin before turning it into a beautiful gold and silver carriage. It was something fitting for a fairytale or someone of a royal bloodline, not something you thought you deserved. Though, you cannot help the gasp and smile that escaped your lips.
"Oh, it's beautiful! Thank you, godmother!"
She just chuckled and shrugged it off, turning her head to your mice friends who were on top of a well, turning them into horses that are attached to the front of the carriage with some being left out to become the driver and the footman.
"There! Now, hurry up, my dear. It's getting late, and the ball will not be waiting."
"Oh, um thank you, but my dress-"
"Yes, it is absolutely gorg- goodness me! You can't go to the ball in that."
You gave her a smile as she walked closer to you.
"We need a simple yet beautiful dress, fitting for the shade of your eyes and the colour of your hair."
Waving her wand, dozens of golden and silver fairy dust that materialized into butterflies and flower petals surrounded your figure as a glow appeared all over your teared-up dress.
The once destroyed fabric and structure of the dress turned into a beautiful (color) ballgown. Butterflies, sparkles, and flower petals surround the dress in a minute way, yet add to the magic of the dress. It was not overwhelming to the eyes, especially the soft tone of the fabric that contrasted the night sky. Your hair was in a beautiful hairstyle that framed and fitted your face perfectly with seldom decorations and pieces of jewelry, only a small earring, a pair of gloves, and a beautiful arrangement of flowers attached to your hair.
It was simple yet ethereally beautiful, just like you. The gasp that you let out was one of awe and gratefulness as you laughed and twirled around in the dress.
"This... this is breathtaking. Thank you! Thank you so much!"
"It's nothing. You deserve it, after all. However, my dear, you must understand that by the stroke of 12 in the clock, the spell will be broken, and everything would revert back to how it once was."
She explained seriously as she watched you marvel at the dress. You took into account her warning and just smiled, nodding your head. Even with the conditions, you still felt so grateful for the few hours given to you.
"I understand, but it's so much more than I have ever hoped for."
The fairy godmother smiled at this and took you to the carriage where the mouse-turned-footman was about to help you into the carriage when she noticed your shoe that stepped unto the ladder to enter inside the carriage.
"Oh dear! Your...shoes..." She said, biting her nails. You looked at her before looking at your worn-out shoe. Its once vibrant and soft colour turned it to something more akin to black due to the soot, dust, and other dirt particles that you had to always encounter as the endentured servant of the manor.
"Oh, it's fine, godmother. It's not like anyone would see it. Besides, you already helped me with so much." You said with a wide grin, just excited to go to the ball even in your old and disintegrating pair of shoes. After all, ever since your step family took over, you were not given the luxury to buy any new pair of shoes and clothes.
You had to always be creative. Sewing the same shoes back together, or putting random clothes to cover the holes of the few dresses that you have to make it work. However, your godmother begged to differ as she flicked her wand once again.
The old shoes disappeared and were instead replaced by a pair of shining glass slippers. It reflected different colours depending on the light hitting it, with even a small delicate butterfly on the front.
"Wow...they are beautiful. And surprisingly comfortable too."
You wondered, raising your feet up a bit to look at the shoes.
"Yes, of course! You need them to be comfortable so you can dance your heart away! Now go, go! Enjoy your night, my dear!"
"Thank you so much for everything!" You waved at her as the carriage started to move through the streets to head to the palace.
Tumblr media
"Your Highness...please stand up."
Reo sighed for the umpteenth time that night as he watched the albino-haired prince lay down on the edge of the fountain in the palace gardens. They were currently waiting for all the guests to fill in, and as always, the lazy prince left the ballroom and headed to a place where he can take his nap.
Which is why both of them were there.
"Seishiro, how long are you planning to take your nap?"
"Hmm..? Until the ball...ends..." He started to snore away, well, until he was hit on the head with a chop by Reo, to which he flinched and looked up.
"Ow...why'd you do that, Reo?"
"Because you're being an idiot. This ball is literally for you, which means you have to be there! His Majesty was kind enough not to involve you in greeting the guest when you're supposed to be there. Now let's go, the introductions are about to start, and I don't want to face His Majesty's wrath when he finds out we both aren't in the ballroom."
The purple-haired heir started to drag the prince by the collar of his uniform, being mindful to not drag him on the ground while patting off any dust or leaves stuck on his pristine, white attire. Seishiro, on the other hand, was softly frowning as his hair and clothes were being fixed by Reo. Especially his tangled hair, which the male struggled to finger comb and try to at least make presentable.
"You know what? I don't care about your stupid hair anymore. Let's go."
The ballroom was as grand and lavish as it could be. The marble and gold colors of the walls and floor matched well with the larger-than-life red curtains. The chandelier was one of the main characters of the interior design, with thousands of candles lit up on it. However, it was not the only light source inside the palace, for there were dozens of mini chandeliers on the ceilings with torches and candelabras on the ground.
To celebrate the occasion, huge arrangements of flowers surrounded the areas of the palace along with other decorative pieces that shouted royalty. The guests were as opulent as their surroundings, wearing beautiful and expensive gowns and suits, with jewelry that cost more than a house in the city. They came from different backgrounds, from the kingdom's aristocracy, a foreign monarchy family, and even some foreign aristocrats.
It was as every bit as overwhelming as it was awe-inspiring. Seishiro looked at everything with boredom. It was all too familiar to him, so where even is the element of surprise for him to be in awe of?
He shrugged it all off, returning to where he was supposed to be (or else he would be dragged by Reo if he did not do it on his own). When the announcer saw him, he started to speak. First, with a welcoming speech to everyone before calling off each and every maiden's name that were invited and have arrived.
Through it all, Seishiro just did as protocol, bowing lazily, while sneaking in a few yawns here and there. This, in turn, angered his father, who watched in anticipation from afar, hoping that his son would at least show some spark of interest in his eyes towards one maiden.
"That boy is not cooperating." He said in annoyance, the duke beside him just nodded.
"It may appear so, Your Majesty. But, I believe we must not rush Prince Seishiro. After all, we know how he can be." The two watched as he just blinked his brown eyes, uninterested at the beautiful princess that was called upon him who introduced herself, and he in return.
"Agh, am I asking for too much when I told him to find a wife? It has been a few years since he came of age, and he needs a wife. There has to be someone who can be a suitable mother and wife!"
The duke blinked in a panic, seeing the king starting to get mad. After all, the king was old, and heart problems were a thing of the monarch's past. The duke cleared his throat and tried to calm him down.
The duke, secretly, is a bit against this forcing of the prince, not seeing it as logical. After all, who falls in love with someone at first glance? No one, certainly.
"He'll be fine, Your Majesty. We just need to give him time. I can not just imagine Prince Seishiro of all people, suddenly focusing his eyes on one girl with interest. Especially if he does not know her well, and do not even get me started with a dance? That is quite impossible, Your Majesty." The duke let our a chuckle to which the king rolled his eyes, focusing his on the prince, letting the duke yap on about logical thoughts and about love.
Seishiro, who was tired and drained from the introductions, ran off as the socialization portion of the ball started. He headed out of the ballroom to the main hall, finding a spot to sit down and hopefully snore away.
Down the hall was an empty velvet couch, that served as a waiting seat for the meeting room beside it where the king sometimes resided for political visits and matters. The albino-haired prince hopped on the couch and started to snore away, hoping that maybe by the time he woke up, the whole ball would be over.
Tumblr media
The moment you entered the palace, you were immediately lost. How could you not be? It was so much larger inside compared to how it looked outside, and it was not like you ever went to the palace before, in your life.
When it came to balls, it was only your stepfamily who attended with you being left behind in the manor to do whatever piles of chores they would throw at you that certain day.
Walking around the marble and golden halls with nothing to guide you. You tried to look for clues that will hint you where the ballroom was. Holding your dress up to prevent you from tripping, your glass shoes clicked elegantly on the floor, disturbing the quiet sound of the halls.
"Oh no, I hoped I did not go deeper into the palace. Especially, on restricted places."
Just as you turned the corner, you were ecstatic to see a man in a white uniform that mirrored of his snowy hair, laying on a velvet sofa, probably sound asleep. He was probably a guard! He must know the way around this hopeless maze.
You felt rather rude to be disturbing him. It was not his fault anyway that you got lost in the palace, but instead, it was fully yours. However, you did not want to get into deeper trouble, so with a nervous heart and an embarrassed look in your eyes, you woke him up as politely as you could.
"Um, sir? Excuse me?"
Seishiro groaned a bit in his slumber at the feeling of someone's hand poking his shoulder gently. He did feel a little annoyed with being woken up from a good nap. However, he did stand up, thinking that if he was gone for too long, his father would probably get mad at him.
When he managed to get his conscious state together, he found himself looking at a young lady, probably around his age, shyly smiling at him. She wore a beautiful (colour) ballgown with a butterfly and flower motif, her hair in an elegant hairstyle with flowes attached to it.
She was beautiful, and he won't lie about that.
"Hmm? Who are you..? What time is it?" He rubbed his eyes, muttering his words like a whisper.
"Oh, um, it is currently 8 PM, and I am just a visitor for the ball. I was wondering if you know where the ballroom is?"
You gave him a smile, one polite and warm to a degree. He just nodded, a bit dazed from his sleep, not registering your last question.
"8 PM, huh? Then, the ball is still ongoing. Hmp, I don't want to go back." He said with a frown, a bit torn between going back to the ballroom or not and risking being scolded hard by his father. You, on the other hand, were a bit confused as to how someone not enjoying the prospect of a ball.
"Really? Why don't you want to go the ball? It's supposed to be one, if not the biggest, celebration of the kingdom. Especially, since it is about the prince finding his future bride." His frown deepened at the mention of him finding a wife, before sighing begrudgingly.
"It is. But, it gets a little boring, sometimes. It's the same thing, same atmosphere and same annoying people. If it's the same thing, then why repeat it again and again? I should be just sleeping away."
You blinked at that, finding the man quite peculiar. He was very much lazy, just from the way he seemed to hate even the notion of moving or socializing eas enough for you to know that. You wondered how he became a guard with such a personality?
"I guess. You're right. If it's repetitive, it does get annoying."
"Right? And it's not like it brings any sort of entertainment anyway. Everyone in there acts the same. Too polite it makes me feel suffocated. For example, if you don't follow the trend or rules, then suddenly you are worth it to throw shade at? Hm...If I'm gonna waste my time, then they better entertain me."
You chuckled at his mini and passionless rant, watching him bury his head on the velvet throw pillow he found on the couch. You have long stopped standing up, as the mysterious man gave you space to sit down beside him as you listened to him speak.
"Right! Right! I also heard that there had been a ball where one of the marquess' got so angry at her daughter for not standing good and not flapping her fan right that her daughter got banished to a convent because of it, with the marquess deeming her hopeless to become a wife of someone."
"Hmm, yeah. Heard of it." He confirmed, closing his eyes, yet it was very much obvious he was still listening to you.
"Oh, I also heard that once a foreign prince and king visited, and the prince was beaten in a sword duel by Prince Seishiro. So the moment they went home, the prince was scarred badly by his father, who urged him to train with him in the art of sword duelling. However, the prince loved his father too much to hurt him, so he got hurt instead of a sign of humiliation."
"I guess.." He nodded away, remembering that certain prince. He did feel a bit of pity towards him, but he was kind of cocky and insulted Reo and another one of his friends and a captain of the royal guards, Isagi. So, he did it to avenge both of his friends.
A bout of silence appeared for a few seconds as you both sat next to each other, his eyes closed and resting while your eyes were focused on the starry night outside of the large glass window in front of both of you.
Turning back to face him, you started to speak again, thinking of another subject to start talking about.
"Sir, may I ask?"
"Sure.."
"Why were you sleeping here? Surely you had something to do, especially since the ball is currently happening."
Seishiro had his mouth shut for a bit before he let out a hum.
"I do. But I don't wanna...it's too much of a hassle to move or do anything. Especially as something like a stupid ball."
"Yeah, like you said earlier. But is there another reason why?"
He paused for a second, deep in thought, mouth closing and opening like a fish desperate for water before he found the right words to say.
"Hmm, I guess. I just don't like how I'm forced to practically do everything wants me to do. I have a lot of people hoping for something big from me, but I know I can't or don't want to deliver. I'm not built for a life of so many responsibilities."
"That's not true! Every human in this world is built to be able to handle any responsibility or situation thrown at them!"
He raised an eyebrow at that, it was definitely the first time he heard of this saying before, but he nodded for you to elaborate.
"Well, being human means having struggles. Struggles we don't want to face or find it hard to face, but in the end, we have to. This is how we improve as human beings, all the hardships we go through, no matter how brutal, it's there for a reason. I don't really know you, but from your personality, I can get why you don't wanna go back to the ball, but if it's your challenge, then you just have to brave it out. After all, maybe a time will come where we end up regretting not facing our struggles."
"Heh, when will that ever happen? A life without hassle is good."
"I guess. But there is a saying that goes: "It's better to suffer early in life, than later." It means, that when we suffer early on in life, we can learn so many lessons and when that problem comes again in the future, then we can counter it better because we learned in the past."
"Hmm, I guess that makes logical sense." He stopped to think about everything you brought up in the conversation. He was utterly surprised that a conversation that started out with him asking the time, turned into something so philosophical and yet, relatable that not even his philosophy teacher, who is well versed in the meaning of life, ever mentioned nor went this deep before with him.
"But, mister. You know, I feel the opposite of you. I really want to go to the ball."
"Hmm? Why? Its a hassle." He said, opening one of his eye to look at you.
"Right, maybe it is! But, it's the only time I can ever enjoy the feeling of going through a hassle. That, I have the time and opportunity to do something useless. Because, every second of my life, I have doubles and doubles of responsibility, so to experience and do something not as an obligation but because, its my choice, feels like my first taste of freedom, you know? Not like, I'm planning on escaping or anything because I can't, but I'm still so thankful tonight, even if a few hours pales in comparison to the years of hardship."
As you went on your spiel, his eyes slowly opened. This time, he did not just listen but also looked at you. From what he can tell, your current life was not easy, but the smile on your face said otherwise. It did not feel like you enjoyed the struggle, no far from it, but instead, you loved the small taste of freedom you got to experience that night.
Is this what other people who are forced to either survive but work or else have nothing, go through? Sure, he was forced, but not to the extent that he would be thrown out by his father. Even if he was lazy like this, his father always loved him still.
He looked at the smile on your face, it was full of warmth and happiness. In fact, it was too genuine that even the corners of his mouth quirked up a bit. Maybe, just maybe he can find some sort of reason to not be as lazy as he always was, especially when it came to his responsibilities.
After all, like you, he had dozens of responsibilities. But, the way you handled them? Complete opposite of him, you seemed like a hard worker and a dreamer, the opposite of him. So, he was definitely curious how he would fare if he, at least once, tried to do his duty the way you do yours? With optimism for a better future.
His future was blank in his eyes, unlike how his father and the kingdom sees it. He's the future king, he has a legacy waiting for him to be built. Yet, he had no plans on how he'll do it. How he will leave his mark into the kingdom, but now, he thinks he may have a few ideas.
This time, he would not run away. There is a time for that, a time of respite and rest. But for tonight, he will try not to run away and face the music instead. Who knows? Maybe, just maybe, your way is the missing entertainment, the missing spark in his life.
"Oh my goodness, I forgot about the ball!"
You exclaimed, which startled Seishiro a bit. He watched as you picked your dress up, before turning to him once again.
"Uh, right! I wanted to ask if you know the way to the ballroom, sir?"
He blinked before standing up from the velvet couch, before extending his hand to you in a very gentle and chivalrous way, courtesy of all the training he had to go through when it came to etiquette.
"I'll lead you there, if you'll let me."
Your cheeks warmed up a bit at the rather sweet move before nodding your head and accepting his hand and his offer as well.
Tumblr media
"Oh, where is he! I swear if he went back to his chambers or hid somewhere in the palace just to escape his duties, I will make sure he-"
The king was stressed out, face red the moment Reo reported to the king about how it had been more than half an hour since he had been looking for the missing albino prince, to no avail. Even if the duke and his son tried, the king was searching for the young prince. The first dance had started a few minutes ago after all, and Seishiro needed to be there to find a maiden to be his first dance. But he was not even there, and if he did not come in an instant, a lot of people would start talking.
Humiliation is awaiting the monarch of the kingdom if the prince does not arrive in the next second.
However, the king's outburst stopped when the door to the ballroom opened once again, to reveal Prince Seishiro.
"That boy! I swear-"
The king stopped whatever spiel he was about to go on once more the moment his eyes stopped at the beautiful young maiden beside his son, her delicate and gloved hand on top of his as he led her to the ballroom.
"A...a girl. Oh, he's with a girl!"
The king let out an excited and hearty laugh. He turned to the orchestra and raised his hand with such fervor, signaling for them to start the waltz. The conductor raised his baton and started to conduct the orchestra who followed his lead, as the sound of the instruments harmonized into a melodic yet colorful waltz.
Seishiro sighed, before turning to face you, hand still holding yours before bowing.
"May I have this dance?"
You blinked, in a bit of a panic, knowing that you are not the best dancer there is, especially since it has been so long since you danced a waltz.
"B-but, I'm not that good-"
"You'll be fine, I got you."
He said it in a rather serious tone, his gray eyes turning a warmer shade like how a dark cloud shines brighter when the sun hides behind it. With a curtsey of your own as a sign of acceptance, you let him hold your waist, as well as tighten his hold on your hand.
You both swayed across the dance floor, almost like it was ice and you both weighed nothing. In the small instances that you would almost lose your balance or move in the opposite direction of where he was going, Seishiro would move ahead of time to catch you or guide you to the right way, as if he could predict each and every one of your movements.
In his eyes, no one in the world was left other than you and him. The background blurred, with you being the only thing clear in his eyes. The music barely registered in his mind even, his body was being pulled by an invisible force to you, like he was always destined to be near you.
He never felt this way before, never felt so distracted yet so focused at the same time. Why you of all people? Was it because he found you attractive? No, he found many people attractive, yet he would ignore them the same way he did everybody else. Or was it because he felt some sort of connection with you in the short time you two talked in the halls? Because you touched his heart even if you did unintentionally and unconsciously?
The dance continued, his eyes stuck only on you. He even noticed the nervous look in your own eyes, face moving away to avoid his stare, face warm. Not liking that you were witholding your beautiful irises from him, he let go of your waist for a second and cupped your cheeks, guiding it back to face him.
"Don't look away. Only look at me, okay?" Nodding your head, you tried your best to calm the wild beating of the heart inside your ribcage.
As the time passed, you found your feet moving on rhythmically now. The previous clumsy movement of your feet or the lack of balance in your core slowly going away, as you trusted him enough to catch you if you lose your balance.
From afar, the king pat the duke's back, laughing heartily as they watched the dance commencing between the prince and the mysterious girl. It had been a while since the king had looked genuinely happy. Meanwhile, Reo also looked down from the balcony with a nostalgic and warm smile, watching the spark in the prince's eyes. It was a look he was a bit familiar with as there were some instances where the royalty would find it in himself to enjoy something, but most of the time it would only last a few minutes before vanishing. However, now, the spark in his grey eyes was burning bright, so bright that it looked like it would never ever die.
'I'm glad you finally found something worth the hassle for, Your Highness.'
Everything was perfect, well it was perfect until the bell started to ring, the clock's hands striking twelve.
You gasped the moment you realized it was only a few minutes before it turned midnight. Your steps stopped, eyes boring on the clock.
"I-it's midnight."
At first, Seishiro was a bit taken aback when you suddenly stopped, he also turned to the clock, a little confused.
"Yeah, it is. What's wrong-"
"I have to go." You said out of nowhere, ready to bolt out the door, but the prince's hands were still connected with yours, his grip holding unto your wrist.
"Why? The ball is not done yet."
"Oh, I-I just...really need to go. Goodbye!"
You gave one last smile before taking off the ballroom door, hand clutching your skirt tight and lifting it so you can run even faster out of the palace before the magic vanished.
The rest of the crowd, as well as the duke and the king, were all wondering, a bit panicked as to why the mystery girl the prince seemed so taken with was suddenly running away.
Reo, moved fast the moment he saw the lazy Prince Seishiro bolt out of the door as well to follow you. It was something he had never seen before, especially since he had grown up with the prince ever since they were infants.
Wasting no time, the duke's heir also chased after you, even shouting for you to stop or wait.
Meanwhile, you were battling against Father Time himself, trying to outrun his hands fast enough for you to get inside the carriage. Just as you were only a few steps away from reaching the bottom of the stairs, you heard a 'clang' hit the ceramic stairs of the palace as well as the cold and rough feeling of the floor.
Looking back, you saw one of your glass slippers lying a few steps up. You stopped, thinking if you had the time to even pick it up. But, hearing the distressing sound of the bell and the figure of the mysterious man catching up, you immediately abandon it and just head straight to the carriage where all your friends are waiting for you.
The moment you hopped inside the magical carriage and it started moving, you sighed in relief. The smile on your face, however, did not vanish as you remembered everything that happened that night.
The deep conversation that established a connection between you and him, the romantic dance that made you feel like you were on the clouds, the mysterious man who was cold and uncaring at first, but had a caring and sweet personality underneath it all.
In fact, you were too dazed, eyes dreamy even after the magic vanished. The once beautiful carriage turned back into a pumpkin, your animal friends turned back into their original forms and your once beautiful gown turned into your mother's ripped dress.
To your surprise, the glass slipper was still there. It was the only thing that grounded you that everything you experienced was not a dream, but instead, reality.
Tumblr media
"No...I won't marry anyone else, but her, Reo."
The glare definitely took the purple-haired heir aback. The pacifist prince showing emotions other than pure boredom? That was a new repertoire in the royalty's very limited facial expressions.
Raising his arms up in surrender, Reo just nodded away to his want, not wanting to know what a pissed off Prince Seishiro would say or do.
"Sorry, Your Highness. It came from His Majesty, but I suppose he would not really be against to you finding that mystery girl from last night. All he ask is for you to find a bride."
He nodded, large hands still holding tight onto the only thing that you left behind as proof that you were real and not just a figment of his dreams: the glass shoe.
It was beautiful, definitely fitted to your feet only, especially since it was glass.
That had to mean that the slipper was customized to your foot only, to the bumps, curves and size of it, meaning that this can become a lead to you.
He stood up from his position on top of the castle staircase, walking to where the horse stables are.
"Tell some of the guards that I need a few of them to come with me to search for her, Reo."
Having no say in the matter due to his lower position, Reo nodded his head almost immediately.
It was not like he had any reasons to hold the prince back anyway, especially since this was the first time he had ever been serious about something and that made the heir of the duke quite proud, to see that the prince, his best friend was slowly turning into the strong man that he and anyone can see has the potential to be.
Tumblr media
It was so early in the morning, yet you could hear your stepmother already yelling. To your relief, it was not you who was the victim this time as she entered each of her daughters' rooms, shaking each of them up from their dreamful slumber.
Bringing up a tray of breakfast to their room, you found a rather comedic scene where your two stepsisters were lying on one bed, still dozing off while your stepmother pulled both their sleeping bonnets off, letting the sunlight hit their faces causing their eyes to open wide.
"You two, I told you! Prepare immediately, we have no time to waste! The prince along with the duke's heir will be visiting each house around the kingdom to find that girl from last night!"
Chie just yawned at her, while Ai sleepily raised an eyebrow at that, covering herself with the blankets again without a care.
"Well...it's not like we're the girl, mother. Why should we care?"
"Now, you two listen! No one knows who the girl is, not even the prince who is absolutely in love with her. The only thing left of her existence is a glass slipper, and so by royal command, every maiden in the kingdom is to try on the slipper. And, whoever the shoe fits will be the prince's bride and the future queen."
Your eyes widened at that, feeling your legs weaken a bit at the revelation. Putting the tray on the nearby bedside table, your thoughts ran back to the previous night. A glass slipper? Surely...that was not yours, right? It's not like you were the only one wearing a very rare glass slipper that was probably hard to make without magic, right? And that mysterious man who you just took into consideration had a rather opulent outfit fitting that of a prince than a guard, was not really the prince, right?
You were probably just being delusional.
Well, you were not the best at manipulating anyone, much less yourself. Heaving a deep breath, you wanted to scream out a mixture of surprise and embarrassment at the fact that you talked and danced with Prince Seishiro all night, and by God did not even recognize him even though he was famed for his snow-white hair and skin, grey eyes and tall figure.
However, your stepmother's statement made you come back to reality. He was looking for you? And, he will arrive later today. Panic and excitement rushed through your veins. If he did find you, that meant you would get to see him again. Adding to that, you will also be free from your stepfamily.
It was the best of both worlds.
You were too busy thinking and daydreaming that you did not even notice that your stepsisters were feeling the same way as you, picking up their best dresses and shoes to wear, insisting you make sure all of it was perfect and worthy that of a future princess as if they were sure they will be able to fit into the glass slipper mentioned.
Walking to your room with a dazed look still, ready to start the chores they assigned to you. However, this vulnerability made you overlook a pair of eyes filled with suspicion. Following you to the attic, your stepmother watched as you glided across your room, humming the tune of the waltz from the ball last night while combing your hair.
With her suspicions proven correct, your stepmother took the key from outside her pocket and immediately closed the door on you, locking it. The sound of the door slamming alerted you, however you were too late as by the time your hand arrived on the doorknob, you were already locked inside the cold attic.
"No! You can't do this! You can't..."
As if breaking your heart and hope last night was not enough, she did it again. Taking it from you with a cold and heartless countenance. You wept behind the door, wondering why every time freedom dangled its hand to you, fate would always be there to let it get taken away again and again.
The moment the clock rang, signaling that it was 9 AM, the family was greeted by a knock on the door. Ai and Chie ran to the windows, jumping up and down excitedly the moment their eyes landed on a few guards sitting on their horses just outside of their door, in the midst of them was Lord Reo, and most importantly of all, the Crown Prince himself, Seishiro.
"Mother! They're here! He's here!!" They squealed, to which their mother just smiled, opening the door to see it was one of the captains of the royal guards, Sir Isagi Yoichi.
"Good Morning, Mi'lady! I apologize for the intrusion, but we are here in the name of the King and of course, His Highness, Crown Prince Seishiro to do the fitting by royal decree!"
After the speech, the ravenette stepped back to make way for the albino prince to enter. Everyone bowed to him in respect, and that included your stepmother and stepsisters.
"Welcome, Your Highness. I am Lady Kana, and these are my daughters, Ai and Chio."
The two maidens bowed, giving their best impression of a genuine yet charming smile which Seishiro just fully ignored. He just turned his head to Reo and the guard who had the glass slipper in possession.
Just from looking at either of the sisters, the prince can already tell that it was neither of them. However, it was written in the decree that every maiden in the kingdom must try it on. So he had to follow it even if he was sure it was neither of them. He can never forget your face, after all, not when it was the only thing in his mind the whole time they searched for you.
He just needed a reason for his father to push through with the search, instead of abandoning it all just for his father to arrange for him to another woman. That is why he is even doing this stupid glass slipper thing, and also so that he can visit each house to look for you, and he cannot really do that without a reason, can he?
While the guard called unto Ai to try on the slipper first, Seishiro could not help but notice the matriarch of the family, her face contorted in a nervous expression as if she were a deer caught in headlights. Sweat dripped down her forehead as she put her hands in each of her pockets as if she were checking for something that was not there anymore.
It may seem like it was just something trivial, but he can feel his gut telling him something else. Something much more complex than losing something random.
"Your Highness?"
He heard Reo call out to him. Seishiro sighed and whispered to his right-hand man.
"It's not them, but continue the fitting."
As everything was happening downstairs, you were busy looking through the keyhole to see your mice friends doing everything their little bodies could to get the key which fortunately for them was captured by their leader as your stepmother was heading down the attic stairs.
"No, no! Don't grab there, grab onto the left part of the board! There's a hole there. Just one more step!"
You guided them as finally, they sneaked under the door and gave you the key. The key to your freedom, this is it. Opening the door, you hurriedly ran down the stairs to the halls, your heart pounding in your chest. Was it out of nervousness? Excitement? Even a mix of both, you did not know, and you will not be waiting around to find out.
Peeking your head through the corner, you can see that almost all of the visitors from the palace you can assume, were out of the door except for one. That familiar messy yet soft-looking albino hair, the familiar white uniform, his tall build, and soft, hazy grey eyes.
No doubt, it was him. It was the mysterious man you talked to and danced with the whole night. For a moment, you felt your voice vanish due to shock and awe that you saw him again after thinking that the feelings you felt would just remain as those, feelings. With no way to ever let it out to the person it belonged to. That you will never see him again.
But now, here you were, a few meters from him, and it seemed like he felt you too because at that moment he turned his eyes to face you.
It felt like time itself stopped for a moment. It was only a few seconds but to the both of you, it felt like forever. And then, a small rare smile appeared on his face. Climbing up a few steps, he did not even hear out the complaints and explanations of your stepfamily about how you were just a maid and nothing more.
In response, you also walked down the stairs, where you two met at the middle of it. Gently taking your hands in his, he laid his lips on top of your fingers delicately. No words were needed, the air and the beating of both your hearts were the only thing that mattered.
Until finally, you cracked a bit of a laugh when he did not drop your hand from his.
"You know, I am a maid. My hands are pretty dirty, your highness."
You jokingly said to which he just smiled at, before shaking his head.
"Hmm, I think your hand is cleaner than mine, seeing as to how I am too lazy to wash my hands sometimes, you know?"
"Really? Not very princely of you, Your Highness. I am a little bit confused as to why you did not even tell me you were the prince. I thought you were just a high-ranking guard or something."
He raised an eyebrow at that, shaking his head while a small chuckle escaped his lips.
"My fault, it's not like you told me your name either. Isn't it a little unfair, dear princess? That you now know my name, but I don't?"
Your face flushed at that, recognizing that you in fact, never gave him your name last night at all, as well. But, what got you blushing even more was the nickname he gave you. With one last breathy chuckle, he finally led you down the stairs, hand still holding yours while guiding you to sit on a chair.
As Reo signaled the guard to try the shoe on your feet, everyone gasped when the prince himself took the shoe, kneeled in front of you, and put it on your foot. It was definitely a sight to see the crown prince kneeling before a maiden dressed as a scullery maid.
It was royal protocol that other than his father or any other king, Seishiro bowed to no one. It was the opposite, everyone should bow to him due to his position and bloodline, however, to him, you are the only exception to that rule. He was ready to stay on his knees for as long as he had to, just for you.
You taught him many things in a single night, that no one before had ever done. You changed his life and answered his questions on it, the way no one ever did. You connected with his soul and heart, two places of himself that no one ever managed to.
But most importantly, you taught him love. Love for what he had, love for those around him, love for himself, and of course, love for you.
It was no surprise of course, when the shoe perfectly fits you. The moment he saw your eyes up in the stairs hiding behind the corner, he immediately knew it was you.
His chest rumbled in a small and quiet laugh, one that only you heard. Finding his laugh infectious, you burst into small fits of chuckles as well, raising your eyebrow at the sudden outburst.
"What's with the sudden laugh?"
"All my life, I never believed nor even bothered with love. Yet, here I am. And besides, don't you find it entertaining and interesting too? That I found the love of my life because of a glass shoe?"
AND THEY LIVED HAPPILY EVER AFTER, THE END.

I hate how seriously fandom is taken nowadays. ESPECIALLY SHIPPING.
Im a neutral shipper and block the things that make me uncomfortable, and try not to engage in shipcourse, but the way seemingly everyone and their mother brings up shipping discourse in an unrelated conversation makes me want to tear my hair out.
" [artist] also drew fictional [incest, pedophilia, zoo, etc] so we should all be aware " who cares? Just let me look at my two favs kissing.
Its exhausting how many times the pro vs anti debate is brought up, especially if you dont want anything to do with it. Let me have my fun gosh darnit
As a society we have forgotten the freedom of creation and the disconnect between thoughts and actions. We're so focused on what is "actually bad" and we're so terrified of not being a "bad person" that its killing art, creativity and healthy outlets.
We're now expected to comb through years of people's internet presence to make sure they're not "evil" or "bad" and 52 fucking Carrd pages just to find out if we can reblog their low-quality stolen moodboards.
I absolutely hate to sound like one of Those People but I simply do not fucking care. If you're an anti and you don't want me engaging, fine. We can block each other. Problem solved. But that's about as much effort as I'm willing to extend. If there's information you want me to know it should be simple and easy to find. If I can't find it in 1-2 clicks, I don't care, its obviously not important, and I'm not going to waste my time going on a hunt for it.
If you DM me to tell me someone draws age gap incest or something equally non-consequential, especially if you're hiding behind the anon button, I promise you, your message goes straight on the trash and you straight on the block list.
Fandom is a creative community space. It is not an activism space. It is not an approval space. Its for me to yell about continuity errors in Yellowstone and draw two men kissing. I don't care if some random user I reblogged a post from 6 months ago ships incest or doesn't tip.

Oh, baby! | Dean Winchester
Pairings: Dean Winchester x female!reader
Summary: reader had a one night stand with Dean and they find out she’s pregnant
Word count: 1.4k
A/n: I gotta be honest, this is from a fanfic lmao, which is supposed to be a crossover of Teen Wolf and Supernatural, but I haven’t published it yet and I’ve been wanting to write something about Dean for a whileee so I decided to just edit this lil thing I had and post it here cuz why not?
Tumblr media
“Hey, Cas, you’re back.” You smile sweetly at him once you saw him as you made your way to the library to help Sam with research
“Hi, y/n.” He replied with a small smile that soon turned into a confused frown
You noticed. “Everything okay?”
“How do you feel?” He asks
“I’m fine.” You replied, not understanding his sudden worry
“Are you sure?”
“Yes, Cas, why? What’s wrong?” You questioned feeling a little alarmed by the way he was asking
“It’s just that I feel another presence.” He said
“Another presence?” Sam took his eyes off the laptop to look at Castiel
“What do you mean another presence?” Dean’s voice was soon heard throughout the library
“Is it bad?” You ask
“No,” Castiel shook his head. “It’s inside you.”
“Inside me?!” You were so confused right now “But what is it? Is it bad?”
“Is she okay?” Sam asked somewhat worried after hearing Castiel’s words
“She’s fine,” he replied and then looked at you “Can I?” he raised his hand
You nodded giving him permission to do whatever he had to do. Castiel put a hand on your forehead and then began to lower it down your body, but without actually touching it, until it reached your belly.
“Can I?” he looked at you, you just nodded
He placed his hand on your belly and that’s when he realized what was the presence he was feeling.
“It’s a baby,” he said, removing his hand
You almost choked. “I’m sorry, WHAT?!”
“A.. baby?” Sam was dumbfounded
“Wait, wait, are you sure?” Dean looked at Castiel
“Very sure,” the angel nodded
“It can’t be...” you put one of you hands on you chest. “Oh my God..”
“Are you really sure?” Dean asked again
“Yes, Dean, I am one hundred percent sure that I feel a baby’s presence.” Castiel snapped back
“This isn’t happening.” Dean ran his hands over his face “This is.. this is simply not happening.”
“Please don’t tell me you guys…” Sam looked at you both
“Sam, just shut up for a minute, okay?” Dean replied
“I- I need to get some air.” You muttered as you walked backwards like three steps and then turned around heading to the stairs
“Y/n wait!” Sam called out but you ignored him
You got out of the bunker and you took a deep breath trying to calm yourself down and not have a panic attack.
“This can’t be real..” you murmured to yourself
You raised your hands to your belly and you’re just standing there in shock.
Of course you wanted a family, but you knew that it was probably not going to happen due to the fact that you’re a hunter and you’ve been hunting basically your whole life. You knew how your life was gonna end. And you made your peace with that. Kinda.
Worst thing about all of this is the fact that Dean is the one who got you pregnant. You two used to hate each other, but throughout the years, you’ve learned to tolerate each other and well, you’ve basically been working with them since they had to deal with the angels pretty much.
He’s always had a crush on you and you knew it, but it wasn’t really that serious. He usually just flirted with you and most of the time you just ignored him.
Until a few weeks ago, while you guys were finishing up a case that Sam decided to let you two handle so you could work on your communication and your anger issues, because the week before that, you have to admit that you were both butting heads every five minutes, and it was driving Sam insane. So he sent you both to deal with a shapeshifter case in Wyoming and with a little assignment to work on your issues and stop behaving like kids. His words.
And you did worked your issues out. You just didn’t think it was gonna be by having sex, but hey, you weren’t complaining at all. He was perfect. And it was the best night you’ve ever had in a while.
And here are the results of that hook up.
It’s clear to say that neither of you are prepared, mentally nor physically prepared to have a kid.
And besides, how were you gonna raise a kid together if you can’t even get along for more than two days?
You got on your car and decided to go for a ride, just to clear your head. And while you were at it, you bought like two boxes of pregnancy tests just to be one thousand percent sure and because you would believe it more once you see it yourself.
You got something to eat after that and decided to use the bathroom at a gas station so you could take the pregnancy tests.
While you waited on the results, you were walking around in the small bathroom, thinking what the hell you were gonna do.
After a few minutes of talking to yourself internally, you decided to take a look at the four pregnancy tests.
“Oh god..” you muttered under your breath seeing the plus sign on the tests
(…)
After a while of just driving around, you finally decided to get back to the bunker. Once you open the door, Dean’s head turned to look at you immediately.
“Where were you?” He asked, leaving the book he was reading on the table
“I was getting rid of the little creature,” you replied
“Y/n.” Dean gave your a stern look
“I’m kidding.” You rolled your eyes. “I went for a ride and to get something to eat, anything else you want to know?”
You walked to where he was and put your hand inside the pocket of your jacket.
“In case you thought Castiel was lying...” you took the pregnancy tests out of your jacket pocket and placed them on the table. “It’s quite real.”
Dean looked at the tests in front of him realizing that this was really happening. He did believe Cas, but seeing the positive pregnancy tests, definitely made his mind finally fall into the acceptance that this was real. Very real.
Dean sighed. “Look, I know you’re not completely happy with this situation, believe me, I’m not either, but..-
“But we already did it and now we have to take responsibility, I know,” you said taking off your jacket “What I’m still trying to figure out is how you and I are going to raise a baby”
“I don’t know either.” He sighed
“This wasn’t supposed to happen” you pulled out a chair so you could sit and then you brought your hands to you face
“I know...” Dean said in a soft voice and leaned a little so he could look at you. “Hey,” he gently took you by the wrists, removing your hands from your face. “You’re not going to be alone, I’m not going for a pack of cigarettes and never come back.”
That made you laugh a little. “I know you won’t.”
“I’m just.. scared.” He admitted “Scared to raise a kid, scared that I might turn out like my dad and I don’t want that..”
“You’re not going to be like your father, Dean.” You said softly “And I’m scared too, like, I’m gonna be carrying a baby inside of me for the next nine months, I’m terrified that I won’t be a good mom.”
“I’m pretty sure you’re going to be an amazing mom.”
You smiled a little. “That’s kinda comforting.”
“I think we can make it work if we make the effort.”
“We hate each other.” You roll your eyes
He scoffs. “Speak for yourself, I don’t hate you, sweetheart, like, at all.”
You chuckle. “Don’t lie to yourself, you only wanted to get in my pants.” You joked
“Well yeah, but I don’t hate you.” He shrugged
“I don’t hate you either, you’re just.. very annoying.” You said
“You are too.”
You roll your eyes. “Right.”
“In all seriousness,” he started saying “I think we should give it a try.” He looked into your eyes “And you know, we would also be getting out of this life and finally getting a normal one.”
“That does sound nice.” You nodded
“It’s up to you, babe.” He said
You could see in his eyes that he was dead serious about this. He wanted this. He wanted to give it a try with you.
And after a few seconds of thinking, you finally responded.
“Let’s do it then.” You said and he smiled “But we’re not getting married.”
“I’m fine with that.” He said with a shrug which made you smile

From one of my longfics [it's dinner, not lunch, but it's delicious and everyone is happy]:
The vibrant, art-filled walls of SpaHa Soul never failed to send a shiver of happiness down Swatch’s spine. The Friday night after they got their job offer letter, they followed Uncle Julius to a corner glass-topped table, while Indigo pulled out a chair for Aunt Desiree. Catechu chatted with the guitarist setting up for the evening’s set and waved at Artist T., just emerging from the kitchen with plates for the group of diners in the opposite corner.
Uncle Julius had found this place about eight years ago and it had become THE go-to place for Dyer-Paletta family celebrations.
And tonight they were here to celebrate Indo and Catto’s getting summer internships at the Wythe in Williamsburg, as well as Swatch’s internship.
“Chef’s choice tonight, sir,” Uncle Julius said to Artist T., after getting a hearty backslap from the proprietor. “All three of these fine young people, going out into the world and making their mark!”
“It’s a better world for you all being in it,” agreed Artist T., making a note on his pad and heading back through the swinging doors.
“I like the new eyeglasses, honey,” Aunt Desiree commented to Swatch. “You look good in aviators, and brown is a nice color for you.”
Swatch nodded.”The tint’s helpful for cutting out blue light, and since I expect I’m going to be spending a lot more time in front of screens with the new job, I figured they were worth a splurge.”
On the other side of the table, Indo was listing off all the different areas in the boutique hotel where he and his twin would be working during their ten weeks. “I don’t know how I’m going to keep a straight face when I’m answering phones and directing calls to ‘Le Crocodile’. It’ll probably get easier after a while. At least ‘Bar Blondeau’ sounds more normal. Only thing I’m worried about is getting there on time every day.”
“Better than the commute would have been if we’d gotten the gig at The Ludlow. That commute would have been a real bitch.” Catto caught his mother’s glare and muttered, “Sorry, mom.  It would have been a real bear .”
Uncle Julius laughed and then turned to Swatch. “You’re going to be cutting it awfully fine, between graduation and starting this new job. You’d better start looking at apartments now if you don’t think your landlady will extend your lease past June.”
“I know. Even with a decent salary, I’m either going to have to spend all my time commuting or all my money on a shoebox to live in.” They realized that it sounded like they were complaining, and quickly added with a laugh in their voice, “Or I could ask my favorite aunt to use her real estate agent superpowers and her mad networking skills.”
“That’s the spirit,” Aunt Desiree answered. “We’re not going to leave you out in the cold, even if you have to stay with us for a month or so while you’re getting your feet under you. You’ve got family, don’t forget."
Swatch smiled back at her. “I will never forget that.”
“And don’t forget we’re proud of you. All three of you,” Uncle Julius interjected, waving his hand to include his sons. “Not a bad apple in the bunch.”
“Thanks, Pop,” Indo replied for himself and for his brother. “Especially thanks for being such a good sport about us not working at Ambit Automation.” “Oh, you boys might still end up there if the economy tanks. Luxury disappears, but people always need manufacturing. Look at the Brooklyn Navy Yards. That’s as big a comeback as the Jazz beating the Nuggets.”
“But the boys are using their degrees,” Aunt Desiree pointed out. “Degrees that you and I both approved of, husband mine.”
“Yes, dear.”
At that moment Artist T. and Amber swooped in with platters of fried chicken, stuffed pork chops, coconut rice, spicy yams, and collard greens, enough to feed an army.
Catechu raised his glass. “To family.”
Four glasses clinked against his.
how would one of your OCs react to a HUGE burger and delicious seasoned french fries?

Hi there! Would you be able to do a smutty fic with Bucky based on the song "acquainted" by the weekend where you and him are fwb and keep it lowkey maybe with some tension/stares between you two at an avengers gathering/hang out? Thank you lovely!
Tumblr media
Warnings: smut. Fwb. P in v sex.
There were rules to this.
Unspoken, but understood.
Rule one: This didn’t mean anything.
Rule two: No one finds out.
Rule three: No lingering. No attachments. No mess.
Bucky Barnes had always been a man of discipline - WWII had drilled it into him, and HYDRA had carved it into his bones. But discipline faltered when it came to you. It started one night, after a mission gone sideways, with adrenaline running too high and a bottle of whiskey sitting half-empty on his nightstand. It started with you teasing him about his brooding, then him teasing you right back, and then-
Well. That was months ago. And now? Now it was a secret you both kept tucked between the sheets and locked behind shared, stolen glances.
Which is why tonight was going to be a problem.
The Avengers were gathering in the common room for one of Tony’s infamous “mandatory team bonding” nights, which always involved alcohol, embarrassing dares, and Steve looking vaguely exasperated in the corner. You had no excuse to leave. Neither did Bucky.
And that was fine. Because you were both fine. Just two people. Keeping it casual. Totally normal.
Except Bucky was already watching you.
From the moment you walked in, he felt you like a live wire beneath his skin. Your laugh came easily at something Sam said, and Bucky had to resist the urge to roll his eyes when Sam leaned in, grinning at you like he was charming. (He was charming, but that was beside the point.)
You must’ve felt the weight of Bucky’s stare because you glanced his way, just for a second. A flicker of a look, barely there, but the heat of it sent something tight curling in his chest. You arched a brow, playful, as if to say Careful, Barnes. People might notice.
He took a sip of his drink to mask the way his lips twitched up at the corner.
“What about you, Barnes?” Tony’s voice cut through the chatter, and Bucky blinked, forcing his attention back to the group. “You ever had a wild, no-strings-attached romance?”
Bucky scoffed, shaking his head. “Not my style.”
Beside him, you hummed into your drink. Liar.
Sam smirked. “C’mon, man. Not even once?”
“I’m a hundred years old. I think I’m past my wild phase.”
A few people laughed, but you just looked at him over the rim of your glass, something unreadable flickering in your expression. It was the kind of look that made Bucky’s fingers twitch, the kind that made him want to cross the room and-
No.
Discipline. Focus.
The night stretched on, the group settling into comfortable chaos. At one point, Steve groaned after losing a bet and had to let Natasha braid his hair, while Thor, oblivious to Midgardian rules, chugged an entire bottle of whiskey without flinching. But Bucky barely registered any of it.
Because you were right there.
Because every time you laughed, his stomach twisted. Because your knee brushed against his when you sat down, and neither of you moved away. Because he could still hear the way you whispered his name last night, breathless, right before falling apart under him.
By the time the night wound down, it was clear: this was getting dangerous.
“You were staring,” you murmured as the elevator doors slid shut, leaving just the two of you in the dimly lit space.
Bucky leaned against the wall, arms crossed. “So were you.”
You smirked, stepping closer. “That so?”
“Mmhm.” His voice was lower now, rougher, a familiar edge creeping in. The same edge that always led to trouble.
For a moment, neither of you moved. The tension crackled like a live wire between you, something unspoken stretching thin. You could stop this. You should stop this. But then your hand brushed against his, tentative, testing…
And Bucky’s control snapped.
With a sharp inhale, he pushed off the wall, caging you in before you could react. “Tell me to stop,” he muttered, but your breath hitched, and that was all the answer he needed.
Then his lips crashed into yours, and everything else disappeared.
You tasted like the whiskey he'd been nursing all night, warm and sharp and intoxicating. Your fingers tangled in his hair, and for a second, Bucky felt alive in a way he hadn't in years. It was a feeling that scared him - because it was something he hadn't allowed himself to feel for so long. But here you were, in the elevator with him, and it was breaking every rule he had set for himself.
The elevator dinged, and you pulled away, breathless. Bucky's eyes searched yours, looking for something - permission, perhaps. You didn't say a word, just took his hand and led him out, the quiet hallway of the tower a stark contrast to the chaotic buzz of the party they'd just left behind.
In his room, the door barely closed before you were on him again. The rules didn't matter anymore. They hadn't for a long time. This was more than casual. It was a secret that was eating away at him, a truth that was too bright to hide. But here, now, with you pressed against him, it didn't feel like a lie. It felt like a promise.
Your kisses grew urgent, needy. Bucky's hands found the hem of your shirt, sliding up to trace the curve of your waist. You gasped against his mouth as his fingers danced over the bare skin, sending shivers down your spine. It had been building for so long, this desire, and now it was here, palpable and real.
You broke away, breathless. "Buck," you whispered, and it was both a warning and a plea. But the need in your voice was unmistakable. You stepped back, looking him in the eye, and let your shirt fall to the floor. The air grew heavy with anticipation, the silence a pulsing heartbeat that filled the room.
Bucky swallowed, the sight of you leaving him momentarily speechless. You reached out, your hand sliding up to cup his cheek, your thumb tracing the line of his jaw.
"I don't want to hide anymore," you whispered.
The words hit Bucky like a punch to the gut. He hadn't realized he'd been holding his breath until it rushed out of him in a whoosh. He stepped closer, his hand coming to rest over yours, feeling the rapid beat of your heart. "Neither do I."
You searched his eyes, looking for reassurance, and he gave it with a nod. With trembling hands, he reached for his shirt, pulling it over his head, revealing the scars that criss-crossed his torso. You took a moment to trace the lines with your fingertips, a silent promise to accept him, all of him.
He stepped closer, the warmth of your bodies colliding, the scent of you overwhelming his senses. His hands found the zipper of your pants, tugging them down, exposing the smoothness of your skin. You stepped out of them, and now there was nothing between you but the fabric of your underwear and the heavy silence that held the weight of their confession.
You reached behind to unclasp your bra, letting it fall to the floor. Bucky's breath hitched at the sight of you, vulnerable yet powerful, and he realized that he'd never seen anything more beautiful. He slid his thumbs under the waistband of your underwear, his eyes never leaving yours. You nodded, and he pulled them down, letting them fall to your ankles.
He took you in, memorizing every inch of your body, the way your breasts rose and fell with each breath, the curve of your hips, the strength of your thighs. You did the same, tracing the lines of his abs with your eyes before letting them linger on the scars that marked his past.
For a moment, you stood there, skin to skin, hearts racing in a silent acknowledgment of what was happening. Then, Bucky's hand found the small of your back and drew you closer until you were flush against him, his arousal pressing into you. You gasped, the sensation sending waves of heat through your body.
He kissed you again harder this time and his hands moved to grip your ass, lifting you up and carrying you to the bed. The mattress sank beneath your weight as he laid you down, his mouth leaving a trail of fire down your neck. You wrapped your legs around him, pulling him closer, feeling the need to claim him, to show him that this was more than just a physical release.
Bucky's hands roamed over your body, as if he was trying to cherish every curve and dip, every freckle and mole. His thumbs grazed your nipples, making you arch into his touch. Your hands slid down to his waist, reaching for the button of his pants. With a jerky movement, he stepped back, breaking the kiss to kick off his boots and shimmy out of his pants, leaving him in only his boxers.
He climbed onto the bed, hovering over you. His eyes searched your face, looking for any sign of doubt or hesitation. You reached up, running your fingers through his hair, and pulled him back down for another kiss, deep and urgent. You didn't need to speak; your bodies were already doing the talking.
Bucky’s boxers soon followed his pants to the floor, and you couldn't help the soft moan that escaped your lips as he settled between your legs. His cock brushed against your thigh, and you could feel the heat of him, the promise of what was to come. His hands slid up your sides, over your breasts, and down to your hips again.
The world outside the room fell away as you became lost in the sensation of his touch. The softness of your skin against his, the way your breaths mingled and grew heavier. You arched your back, pushing your breasts upward and he took the hint. His mouth closed around one peak, teasing it with his tongue until you were writhing beneath him.
Bucky’s hands slid down to grip your hips, his thumbs digging into your flesh as he bit down lightly on the sensitive skin of your neck. You moaned, the sensation sending jolts of pleasure straight to your core. Your legs tightened around his waist, urging him closer. He groaned, his own desire a palpable force in the air around you.
With a final, lingering kiss, he pulled back, his eyes dark with need. He reached into the nightstand and fumbled for a condom, his trembling fingers finally closing around the foil packet. He ripped it open and rolled it on, his movements fast with urgency.
You watched him, your chest heaving, the anticipation building to an unbearable crescendo. Your eyes locked onto his as he positioned himself at your entrance, the head of his cock nudging against you. He paused, giving you one last chance to change your mind. But all you did was whisper, "Buck," and lift your hips in invitation.
With a low growl he entered you, filling you up inch by inch until he was all the way in. The sensation was overwhelming, the connection between you two more intense than he'd ever felt before. He stilled for a moment just to feel you around him, tight and wet and warm.
As he began to move, his thumb landed on your clit, stroking it with a gentle firmness that made your eyes roll back. "You're so beautiful," he muttered, his voice rough with passion. You gripped the bedsheets, the tension coiling tighter with every stroke of his thumb. "So perfect."
The words sent a shiver through you, a warmth blooming in your chest as his compliments melded with the exquisite sensation of his touch. You'd heard him say the same things before, but this was different. This was Bucky looking at you, really seeing you, and calling you beautiful. It was a declaration that felt both new and ancient, as if he'd been waiting a hundred years to say it to you.
He began to move, his hips rolling into yours with a rhythm that spoke of experience and control. But the way his eyes never left yours, the way his breath hitched with every gasp you let out, it was clear he was as lost in this as you were. The room spun around you, the only anchor being the warm, solid presence of him above you, inside you.
You felt your climax building, the tension in your body ball of elastic bands ready to snap. Bucky’s thumb continued to work its magic, his strokes becoming messy, slipping around your clit. You bit down on your lip, trying to hold back the scream that threatened to escape.
"Let go," he urged, his voice a dark, seductive whisper that sent a shiver down your spine. "Come for me."
The words were a command, a gentle push that sent you hurtling over the edge. Your orgasm built and hit a wall. You cried out, nails digging into his back as you clutched at him, your body convulsing with the intensity of your release.
Bucky's eyes widened at your reaction, and he swallowed a groan of his own, feeling your contractions around his length, urging him closer to the precipice. He increased his pace, driving into you harder, deeper, his own release building with every moan and tremor that wracked your body.
You could feel him stutter inside you, his thrusts increasingly sloppy. Your legs tightened around him, and you reached up to pull his face down, needing to feel his breath against your skin, to taste him again. Your kiss was desperate, tongues melding as you rode the wave of pleasure together.
Bucky's own climax hit him like a freight train, stealing his breath and making his muscles tense. He groaned into your mouth as he came, filling the condom with his release. For a moment, he remained there, buried deep within you, savoring the feeling of your body around him, your heart hammering in sync with his own.
Slowly, he pulled out, and you could feel the emptiness where he’d been. He collapsed beside you, his chest rising and falling rapidly as he tried to catch his breath. You rolled onto your side, curling into him, your hand coming to rest on his chest. He wrapped an arm around you, pulling you closer, as if trying to keep you there forever. The room was quiet except for the sound of your breathing, the rapid thumps of two hearts that had just synced to the same rhythm. The air was thick with the scent of sex and sweat, the warmth of your bodies a stark contrast to the coolness of the sheets.
You looked up at him, the question in your eyes. Bucky knew what you were asking. He kissed the top of your head, his voice gruff when he spoke. "I'm not going anywhere. This is real.”
It was a promise he meant to keep, even if it meant breaking all his rules. Because sometimes, the things that scared him the most were the things that felt the most right. And this felt like coming home.

DDLG hcs with dad curly ? similar to your faux innocence work, but your thoughts/hcs you’d have for that type of scenario? :3
hai unfortunately came to the conclusion that i suck at hcs but tried my best LOL… got a little long apologies
content warning: 18+, dead dove do not eat, daddy-daughter incest, ddlg, praise, faux innocence sort of
Tumblr media
dad!curly is a dope and a total sap who’s well aware of you being past a little girl by now—but that doesn’t mean that he’s ready to let you grow up. not when…
dad!curly has been too busy with work your entire life, spending his time in and out of space with little time to tend to you the way he should’ve. now that he’s retired from his position, left behind the ludicrous fiasco that is pony express, he can finally be your full time dad… and daddy :3
dad!curly barely recognises you, prancing around with those things on your chest, in clothes clinging to your body tighter than vacuum packing. it all happened so fast. he knew you’d be older, matured, independent and that makes his stomach sink.
what if you don’t need him anymore?
dad!curly feels dumb having bought you teddy bears as a gift, yet you hug him ever so sweetly—thanking him and smacking your lips straight onto his cheek. you look at him the same, like nothing’s changed, like he’s been here all along.
dad!curly doesn’t know how to get properly accustomed to you being all grown up now—luckily for him, you don’t seem to mind. you let curly treat you the way he should’ve all those years ago. it’s a coping method for the both of you.
hold your hand? check. sleep in his bed? no problem. feed you? that’s a given. call him daddy? of course. read you bedtime stories? sure. plushies? boatloads. baby talk? you secretly love it. bathe you? you’d bite his fingers off like bunnies do carrots.
dad!curly is fine with that, he doesn’t want to overstep his little girl’s boundaries. he quickly adjusts to the routine, probably ‘cause you’ve both already been through this before, it’s just like reliving a memory.
dad!curly kisses you on the mouth and you don’t even flinch, they come as often as they do for boyfriends and girlfriends. him reading you fairy tales about princesses and their princes is nightly practice. you falling asleep on your daddy’s chest is as well.
now…
dad!curly as we established, isn’t the sharpest tool in the shed, but does notice your thighs shifting every time he reads kissing scenes—you’re not exactly subtle with it. clenching them together like you’re trying to relieve an ache between them but don’t know how.
dad!curly is conflicted, he just wants to help his princess, what kind of a daddy would he be to let you walk around that needy? he’d heard you struggling prior in your room, whining out of frustration ‘cause you just can’t get it right. poor baby.
dad!curly sets the book aside, stroking your head and checking with you to assess the situation. what’s going on? where does it tingle? need daddy’s help? he bares you from the covers, feeling your body with large hands ever so tender like he doesn’t want to hurt you.
dad!curly helps you get your panties off, a sticky string stubbornly stuck to the gusset as he pulls them down. you’re embarrassed at the sight, hiding your face in your hands. he thinks it’s cute, but wants you to look at him.
dad!curly noses at your knuckles till you peek at him through the cracks of your fingers, keeping his gaze on yours. once you loosen up, he continues.
dad!curly trails his calloused fingers up your thighs, holding you close as he makes contact with your swollen bud. you whimper and buck your hips up out of impatience, calling out for daddy as you blink up at him.
“Shh, honey, just stay still. Daddy’s gonna help, okay?”
dad!curly resumes his touch after a nod of your head, rubbing soft and gentle circles on your clit till you’re squirming. your hole is leaking, crying out like it wants to be filled by something thick and long—much like that something thick and long curly’s got in his sweats.
dad!curly is humble but aware that he’s much too big and would break you in half if he tried to fit inside his baby. he slides his hand down further instead, circling your entrance with his middle finger.
dad!curly lets you squeeze his other hand when he works his digit inside, lets you grip onto his shirt when he starts to carefully plunge in and out. your body’s tense but gradually unveils as curly’s fingers move against your spongy spot.
“That’s my good girl, taking daddy so well.”
dad!curly pecks your cheek, watching you come undone and shake in his arms. your legs clamp shut around his hand like a clamshell—moans and whines spilling out of you alongside your cum.
“You did so good, honey. ‘M so proud of you.”
dad!curly murmurs into your hair, pulling out and collecting your slick onto his fingers so you can taste yourself. he lets you suck his digits clean, completely disregarding the stiffness painfully straining against the fabric of his pants when he grabs your face to kiss you.
dad!curly can’t help but moan at the taste of his little girl on his tongue, horrifyingly close to cumming in his pants. but he sucks it up and helps you get your panties back on, lulls you to sleep on his chest with his sweet voice continuing the book of the fairy tale.

Well how are y'all getting your book recommendations because I have a feeling it's TikTok and Instagram and that's why you don't know what to read and feel frustrated. Because the whole premise of this post does not feel correct to me. My instinct says that we, as adults, don't see the actual YA that's being written because we aren't the target audience. The "YA novels being written to be targeted at people..." books ARE adult books and they are being appropriately advertised that way. The fact that some view those books as immature or YA does not make them so. Fourth Wing is not marketed or shelved as YA. Millenials aren't refusing to move on; that's just what millenials like.
Even a cursory glance at review journals and best sellers lists shows me that people like Colton in the original screenshot aren't paying attention to the publishing trends for teens and middle grade outside of apps. Those books and authors exist. What I think is happening overall is that teens (and everyone) are spending less time reading as a leisure activity.
There is a kind of unsettling, but familiar tone of elitism and cruelty in these replies, like moniquill pointed out that should be noted here. Just because a book or genre doesn't meet the standards of what you personally want to read does not mean that others should "grow up" to match the imagined benchmark for reading that you're creating here. The publishing world is very different now than it was 10 years ago, yes, and I believe there is a conversation to be had about that. But I don't think the conversation is about what genre of book people in their mid 30s should or should not be reading.
Here are the 2025 Youth Media Awards winners as chosen by the American Library Association. Have you heard of any of these? If you're not a teen, probably not and that's fine.
Here are 22 nonfiction books about animals as chosen by Chicago Public Library staff.
Lists and recommendations exist in plenty.
Source I'm a librarian who has worked with middle grade, teens, college students and adults over the past 10 years.

Project!
So about a year ago, I bought this 60s cashmere sweater that was just. Thrashed. Covered in stains on the front, a couple small holes, all the buttons had been pulled off. I should have taken a before picture, but it turns out I did not so you'll have to trust me.
I had never done any crewel work before! I learned everything from scratch, which is why this cardigan work is uh, uneven at best. I wanted to learn how because I wanted to save sweaters like this one. I wanted to buy vintage stuff that was a little trashed and turn it around. I don't even know if I'll keep this! It's not the point! (Minus that it's not quite skillful enough to give as a gift) The point is saving good pieces of wool and cashmere from the dump.
Anyway, I haven't really posted it because I unfortunately sought out embroidery groups online and then realized I am really bad, and also not any good. I think there's a lot to be said for online groups and learning, but also it really sucks when every posted project is incredible, and half of them are like, 'Oh! First project!" I think there are a million bad things we can say about me that it makes me want to throw in the towel because all my fucking French knots are lopsided and everyone seems instantly good, and I would take that criticism, but it does in fact make me feel like I'm fucked.
I know I'm not artistic. I know I don't have super great fine motor skills. "But Doc, you are a really good cook!" and I am super clear that I have been working at it for YEARS, I'm not out here like, 'Silly first project based on medieval tapestry! What do you suggest to catch the look of betrayal in the unicorn's eyes as he's slaughtered? As a beginner, i just don't know!"
Doc, is this discouragement going to stop you? Don't be so stupid, of course it's not going to stop me, I'm just going to continue to be upset and frustrated about it and do it badly. But the sweaters need fixing.
ANYWAY, here's the sweater. It's not great looking and I absolutely will not show you the back of it. But it's wearable now.
I did do one thing really well, because it fits my skill set. I love the vintage German glass buttons, I got a SCREAMING deal on them and I have a bunch left over for other projects. They have almost an oil slick rainbow sheen to them.
