an implausible number of those nearest and dearest to me in real life have recently independently claimed to me, to my face, apparently in earnest and meaning only truth in their hearts, that they've never seen klimt's the kiss before and what's more also don't recognize any of his other works or his style at all. can this really be true. is klimt a niche artist in wider culture (??? surely not right??). have I lived in such a different reality from those I love all this time. this matter weighs on me unceasingly at all hours as you might imagine
