Jesse wasn't even sure how he'd landed himself in this mess - okay, that was maybe a stretch of the truth. In hindsight, he could very clearly track the pieces of the shit puzzle that was his whole fucked up existence. But what good did this realization do him now when he'd failed to stop and carefully consider his actions along the way, when it mattered? Every dumb mistake felt so clearly obvious after the fact. The first one had been to take on the job as Ignar's driver in the first place. It had seemed like a safe enough deal at the time, maybe a bit shady, but Jesse had been desperately strapped for cash. The truth was, he probably would have taken on any task for the right price, and he just had to drive - how much trouble could that possibly get him into?
The second mistake, admittedly even much more severe than the first, had been to take on the other job. Once again, he was desperate and dumb enough to let the promise of an easy job with high rewards tempt him. Sure, he was well aware that Axel was one of Ignar's rivals. Anyone not on the other's crew was a rival, technically. But the details of the operation didn't sound like they would interfere with his boss's interests at all. Clearly that assessment had been wrong - if the pistol dragging against his scruff was any indication.
Jesse was at least experienced enough by now to know to keep his composure, which didn't mean he wasn't shitting bricks right now. He knew that Ignar's blood ran cold, and the last thing he wanted was to become a liability for the seemingly slightly younger man, as he knew that wouldn't bode well for his own life expectancy. "Shit", he hissed when the other revealed to him that the cops knew about the job. Of course, if someone had to mess up and get him knee-deep into a pile of shit, it was Axel's men. "Fuck, Ignar, I'm sorry about that, okay? I'll take care of it, I promise", he was quick to state, without any fucking clue how he was supposed to do that. "I'm just your driver though, right?! I'd tell the cops that too if they bust me. Don't have nothing to do with your business." After all, denying any involvement in Ignar's actual crimes was, at the very least, self-preservation anyway. "What are we gonna do now? You tell me, I'll do it, boss. My loyalty is yours, I promise", he spoke, his tone filled more with fear than anything. Getting back into Ignar's good graces felt essential for staying alive and healthy, and Jesse was once again dumb and desperate enough to do absolutely anything to ensure it.

There was something about Jesse that enthralled Ignar. He had a hard time trying to pinpoint what it was exactly but he reasoned he'd be able to figure that out down the line once he had the other firmly in his clutches.
He'd initially hired Jesse as driver, nothing more than that so he would have some plausible deniability were he to be captured, whether by the police or his rivals. Still, it didn't mean Jesse would be out of trouble were that to happen, varying degrees depending on who got to him first. Along with that, there was an unwritten but very obvious rule not to work for one of his rivals, not even off the books. Whether Jesse was naïve or foolish or trying to exploit his good graces... Well, now he's in a little bit of a pickle. Ignar sat down next to the slightly older man, who wasn't tied down but had guards flanking his either side. Certainly like all other men that were older than him, Jesse must have at some point had the thought, 'how did he come to command a criminal empire?' Well, he had a secret, he couldn't fucking die... or age. He might look like he was in his late twenties but that couldn't be further from the truth. The immortal held his pistol loosely, tracing the other man's scruffy jaw with the muzzle, "You know... if this endeavour has taught me anything, is that your loyalty can be bought a little too easily." He pulled it away then, placing his hands on his knees. "That last job you did? With Axel's crew? Well, the cops are well aware." Might have tipped them off himself. But Jesse didn't need to know that. It was a win-win scenario for Ignar: weaken Axel and tie Jesse further to him. "If they catch you, you know what that means right? If they so much as sniff out that I regularly employ you, how would you think that would go for me? How'd you think that would go for you?"
