actually yeah i still think its very reductive to just say that the tf2s would all be progressive to avoid thinking about them possibly being bigoted in any way.
#like i get the intent of being like “they'd all be ok with lgbt people and not be racist or bigots!”.#since they're comfort characters for a lot of marginalized people#but at the same time i feel like its really reductive to shut down any sort of. idk. conversation about the mercs possibly having biases lo#idk in a way it feels very... projecting i guess?#like “well TF2 guy is my favorite character/character i admire so OBVIOUSLY he would love LGBT people and share all of my values”#like im sayin this as a person who loves soldier who's pretty much the incarnation of jingoism lmaooo#and like idk i think its more interesting to like. kind of play with and consider how the characters might confront their biases#rather than to just be like “Soldier would never be homophobic!” and leave it at that without any further thought
