okay but given that firing an arrow takes so little time , especially if it’s not meant to be properly aimed & is just apart of a mass body of them to hit a massive target , thranduil really should have given the order to fire the moment after those larger twirly - whirly arrows fired by dain’s forces hit the ground since the first three ranks which are the archers weren’t hit at all bc those precious seconds between the firing then reloading of those larger arrows was his golden opportunity which he missed bc he hesitated

#like how long has he been absent from the battlefield ??#a true battlefield #???#like im not super on point with the happenings in arda before the third ahe #*age #but like i’m thinking the battle where legolas’ mother died may have been the last hed seen of it ??#like shit that being the last massive battle he sees & his wife dies ; & his father died before in battle as well along with over 2/3rds of #their troops #just shit doesn’t go right for thranduil in battle ; everyone around him dies but not himself ; no he has to stay & watch it happen #to live with the guilt of the decsion to go to war / to fight #like im just rambling atm but theres so much mroe to thranduil than the films show #like give him #some credit ; hes a multifacted three dimensional character with a lot of hurt & long years lived under his belt
