Modern Eddie Playing Outlast
His eyes are absolutely huge with fear as his character only ever crouches around, he never stands up unless it's to run.
You two are sitting on the floor, you were sat behind him with your arms around him for comfort and emotional support.
Eddie backs up against every time he gets scared, and now you're just smooshed between him and the back of the bed/couch. To make things even, you're holding him pretty tightly.
It's mostly just him yelping, screaming and cursing at the screen the whole time.
He's too freaked out to look around for in game batteries properly, so you have to be his eyes and point them out for him.
If you're playing whistleblower, you're left cackling at the strangled high-pitched wail Eddie bellows when the character "Eddie Gluskin" is castrating people, and nearly the player character. Eddie is just screaming like a nazgul at the evil Eddie in game.
Tumblr media
"No no, no no, no! ow, ow, ow....no - jesus fucking christ!" he's just yelling at the top of his lungs.
Like Eddie's got his legs crossed and his knees drawn as close as he can get them as if the character were actually trying to hurt him.
"Who made this game!" Eddie is shouting.
That guy who corners you in the bathroom, "Silky you look so....silky" has Eddie afraid to leave the stall in game. With how bad the game is, Eddie is as convinced as he was the first time he ran into the character that he's trying to make Eddie's character drop some soap.
"No, thank you." Eddie keeps muttering.
Eddie abuses all the hiding spots in the game.
And when you two fire up Outlast II it just breaks poor Eddie. With the weird heretical sex cult VS weird puritan sex cult and the flashbacks.
Eddie eventually just passes you the controller and you two switch roles, but now he's squeeze the life out of you while yelling in fear in your ear.
He makes you sleep with the lights on, he's got a hammer next to his pillow. And he has vowed to by batteries in the morning.

Black Myth Wukong
Tumblr media
I finally finished my (mostly) all-bosses playthrough of Black Myth Wukong. Since a lot of my favorite streamers were playing it, and it looked intriguing from the trailer, I wanted to give it a try once I had my fill of the Elden Ring DLC. It took me a month to beat the game (I only had time to play about 2-3 hours a day).
Tumblr media
Overall, I enjoyed the game immensely. Give me a game with really cool and creative monster designs, plus pretty, scenic areas to explore, and I'm happy! The combat is really fun too - the mix of spells, melee attacks, transformations, stance styles, etc, gives you such a variety of ways to play. Plus the fact that you can respec anytime removes the pressure of committing to one build. But honestly, I kinda stuck with the same build the whole game, lol. I focused most of my skill points on health, defense, attack, Immobilize, and Pluck of Many, as well as putting all my Mind Cores into the same, plus mana. This got me through basically all of the game with relative ease. Actually, either I got overpowered or the game wasn't that difficult for me, since by mid-chapter 2, almost every boss was a first or second try victory for me. Only exceptions were the Loongs and few chapter finale bosses and secret area bosses who took a few tries more. Then there was Erlang, who took me at least 30+ tries over 3 hours and was one of the hardest bosses I've fought in any game (coming from someone who's fought every boss in Elden Ring, Sekiro, Bloodborne, and the Dark Souls trilogy). So yeah, don't want to see that guy again anytime soon.
Tumblr media
The only time I respeced a bit was to put more points into four banes resistance against Erlang. But I was also dumb and didn't realize there was a Drink to restore Qi, which was what I really needed to get rid of his shields with the fan vessel. But I still died a few times even after figuring this out, so I think he's just a really difficult boss.
Tumblr media
While I enjoyed the heck out of the gameplay, unfortunately I couldn't follow the story/lore well at all. Obviously this is because I know close to nothing about Journey to the West or Chinese mythology. So while I understood the basic premise of finding Wukong's relics throughout the land, everything else as far as who the characters were, what their relationship is to Wukong and each other, and why they're doing what they're doing, was totally lost to me. Even after watching a "story explained" video, it's very clear that the game is a true sequel to Journey to the West, and you're guaranteed to be lost about most things if you haven't read the book. But the fact that I still enjoyed the game despite this just shows how fun it is. If I enjoy the gameplay mechanics, not being able to follow the story isn't that big a deal to me. Also, the animated music videos between each chapter were amazing. My favorite is the one for chapter 3, which was so well choreographed but also deliciously horrifying.
Tumblr media
Like I do with most games, I wanted to make sure I beat every boss and explored every area the game had to offer. But I also didn't want to follow a walkthrough religiously either (which is something I did in my early days of gaming with the Dark Souls games). Other than look up a boss list and where to find them, I played the game mostly blind until around chapter 4. I was upset when I realized I had missed key things in chapter 3, which was being able to fight the Apramana Bat and Rat Captain bosses, as well as attain the Auspicious Lantern curio from the Lantern Wardens (I did fight a couple of them, but then decided to avoid them once I got yeeted off the cliff, lol). So from that point on I carefully checked IGN's walkthrough as I explored each area. Thankfully those were the only two bosses I missed during the rest of my playthrough. But damn, does this game have so many hidden secrets! I can't imagine anyone finding all the bosses/secret areas without looking it up online.
Tumblr media
I guess that's one complaint I have about the game...maybe the secrets are too secret? Like I said, I don't know how a player is expected to figure some of these things out if playing normally. Maybe some more hinting about how to access the secret bosses and areas would have been nice, even if it's just some NPC dialogue or more elaborate item descriptions. I also don't like that they hid an essential thing like armor upgrades behind a questline that's so easily missable. A couple other minor issues I had were forcing cutscenes in the middle of fights and your character being way too prone to stagger with few ways to increase Tenacity, resulting in many wasted mana and focus point attacks (why is Tenacity not part of the skill tree?) But again, these were just minor issues and took little away from my overall enjoyment.
So yeah, I highly recommend Black Myth Wukong if you like fantasy adventure games focused on boss battles and various combat styles.

Reading helps me relax and learn new vocabulary in foreign languages, plus it's a great way to get inspiration for writing and planning plot points for future stories and fics x3
Watching my favorite streamers do Let's Play and walkthroughs of awesome games that I love is so great too!
I find nice strolls on sunny, warm days very pleasant! This is why spring is my favorite season tbh ❤️ (it's pelting down here atm lmao, where's the sun .O.)
Last but not least, it's art. I've been slooowly reapproaching drawing lately, and even if I haven't been sketching much I'm getting a lot more ideas and inspiration than I used to and I love it!! It's making me smile again, and I don't feel as much stuck as like, a few years ago or so ❤️ so yeah I'm very glad it's been getting better, step by step ❤️

After the first station
by Lsgamedev
Price (US): $5.00 (But it seems to be on a permanent 100%-off sale.)
Included In: Not in any bundles
Genre: Adventure
Pitch: Hop aboard a train that literally and metaphorically takes a Japanese high school student out of her small town and into the challenges and isolation of adulthood.
My expectations: Looks like a walking sim. The screenshots don't suggest much interactivity, nor do they show any text. I love when a mellow game lets me inhabit a space. A lot games do that and also have other, video game-y stuff, so unless they really have something to say, pure walking sims usually strike me as unambitious and pretentious. But I'm not even sure if that's the genre. The visuals are pretty. Everything else on developer Li Sheng's Itch profile page is a horror game, so maybe After the first station isn't really as cheery as it looks. My curiosity is piqued.
Review:
Tumblr media
I’m in a school. I enter a classroom. There’s nothing of interest inside. I walk to the another classroom. It’s not my class. I try another. It’s not my class. I try another door, and it opens! This must be my class.
Tumblr media
Class is not in session, but something is happening here. There are glowing circles on the floor, and they are freaking out. Should I stand on them? Do I need to walk along them in a certain order? Or are the circles, which are jumping around to ten different places at once, meant to draw my attention to the conspicuous box on the teacher’s desk?
I approach and see a button prompt. I can rotate the box, but how do I open it? I can move a cursor over the latch, but I’m pressing every button and nothing’s happening. Ohhhhh… I have to put the cursor on the lid, and then…rotate the lid?
Tumblr media
I get a key, which opens the library, where I find a camera, which I place on a scale, which gives me a train ticket, which takes me away from the first level. Thus concludes the best part of After the first station.
Tumblr media
+ Solid framerate at max settings. ("Meets expectations" shouldn't be cause for celebration, but I've played a lot of primitive-looking Itch games with terrible performance lately.) + It seems like a very personal story. As laughable as the end product is, I hope its development was therapeutic. If making games helps you process trauma, you have my full support. If you release those games to the public, though, I'm not going to hold back on what I think of the full product. And on that note... + Unintentional comedy is still comedy. This game is a riot.
– The Itch page lists, "Atmospheric and appealing graphics" and "Amazing and magical landscape to explore" as key features. The landscapes are a handful of assets copied and pasted at random a thousand times. I don't think I ever went a full minute without finding a new visual bug. Yes, "amazing" is exactly the word. I was in disbelief the whole time. – According to a YouTube walkthrough, I quit a little more than halfway through the game. I consulted a walkthrough because I was sure I had completed my objectives, but nothing was happening. As suspected, I'd hit a game-breaking bug and couldn't proceed. Awesome. – A full sprint in this game is more like a leisurely stroll—especially obnoxious since most levels are either about collecting glowing trinkets in huge, vacant, repetitive areas or walking straight ahead along huge, vacant, repetitive paths. How nice it is to slow down and take in all the nothing. – Sometimes you get Xbox button prompts. Sometime you get PlayStation. Sometimes moves like leaning to the side, zooming the view, or rearranging the inventory—useless vestiges of whatever template is driving this thing—simply stop working.
🧡🧡🤍🤍🤍
Bottom Line: If you're a streamer or you like to gather with friends to watch each other play single-player games, grab After the first station while it's free. You'll have no trouble finding material for your quips and zingers. If you're playing alone, or if you're looking for a real game, don't bother.

I just had an indie game idea that is so insane I can't keep it to myself
The Game Where Nothing Happens
To premise, the game is supposed to follow the timezones of the server closest to the player. So, if the player lives somewhere far from the first server available, it'll be night in-game but morning in real life.
The game starts as a 2D slice-of-life. You follow your little character around as they complete their daily (or nightly) tasks around their house and their little town. According to the day of the week, you go to work/school or stay at home. But, whenever you're about to complete a boring task like showering or cooking, the game asks you for how long you'd like to set the timer on your character's watch/phone.
Once the timer is set, you are transported in a completely different game. You have as much time as you have set the timer to to explore it and try to win. Once the time's up, you're immediately sent back to whatever you were doing before, except it has already been completed. If you win the game, some of the loot you gathered in the minigames will be transported somewhere around the house. If not, you don't get anything.
The minigames are actually the main character daydreaming or dozing off during the day. There's many occasions where a minigame might start, but the games themselves are in a completely randomized order. That means that if you want to play a specific one, you won't know when it's available, so you'll have to take every chance until you find it.
AND they actually have lore! But since they're in a random order everyday, figuring it out is hell!!
Walkthroughs take hours, speedrunners cry at the thought of it, and streamers play it in subathons. It's awful and I love it.
