Despite the fact that Eleven is most definitely not able to destroy a dimension, The Upside Down is a mirror dimension to the Right Side Up, so much so that things happening in the upside down, ACTUALLY REFLECT on the Right Side Up (lights flickering etc), and as such cannot be destroyed without potentially catastrophic results to the Right Side Up.

It is by all evidence shown, the CLOSEST parallel dimension to the kids, destroying it, could potentially unravel whatever's holding the kids dimension together killing everyone and everything inside of it.

You cannot destroy an entire dimension without catastrophic side effects to surrounding dimensions. ESPECIALLY if that dimension MIRRORS yours.

It just needs to be sealed off.

Imagine Buck saying “i love you” first and for the first time Tommy feels behind. He feels like maybe they are moving too fast.

Then he has a talk with some of his team. They’re not AS close as the 118 but they put their life in each others hand’s on the regular and that counts for something.

Andy asks Tommy about last week, when Buck was complaining about his apartment being so far so they started talking about moving in together? Aubree mentions how much he jokes about buying a ring for his beau, and Tommy sits back because he does joke a lot about (he hasn't spoken to Evan directly about it but anytime the kid does something sweet he asks him his ring size). Lucy mentions the time they spend talking and texting, she calls it nauseating with a wink, but Tommy doesn't remember the last time he wanted another person in contact with him at all times and who returned the feeling tenfold.

And after all, with their job they could die any day. He sits in his kitchen and replays the moment Evan said it again and again: "I know I'm dragging you through milestones like a cat with a mouse, and I want to let you know that you don't have to say it back. But I love you, Tommy. You mean a lot to me and I'm so happy we met."

Nine months is the longest relationship Tommy has ever had. And he still wishes he could spend every waking second with Evan.

By the end of the night he's barging into Buck's apartment and sticking his tongue in the younger man's mouth. He stands back and pushes his chest up and smiles and says "I love you too, Evan."

Buck is laughing, he's smiling and kissing his boyfriend back and hugging him tight. He can feel Tommy's heart racing when he puts his hand to Tommy's chest. He expected it to take longer. He'd heard about all the ways Tommy had been hurt before. But in the end it only took a day

then they hear a flush and Eddie walks out of the bathroom. He's smiling because Buck's loft is Not Big and he might have heard every word. For just a moment, they all stand in silence not uncomfortable per say but definitely charged.

Then Eddie says "I love you too, bro." Buck lovingly rolls his eyes and Tommy is cracking up. If it were anyone else he'd probably feel embarrassed but Eddie has shared friendly declarations of love before and its not uncommon for the L word to be passed around a 118 dinner party like hors d'oeuvres.

I am once again thinking about how odysseus who witnessed the horrors that the captured women went through (one of his main duties in the iliad was taking the women back home and making sure they were as comfortable as possible and safe because he was the only one trusted not to violate them further due to his devotion to penelope. And in the odyssey part of the reason circe sent him to the underworld was so that he'd have to listen to all these women's stories (before he could talk to the prophet) ). Who was one of the few that saw women as people and respected their space and opinions. And was then put in those exact same situations. I don't have the motivation right now to do a full literary analysis of this (I'll site the sources too) but oh man one day I'm going to write a full essay on this.

some headcanons i have while drawing him are semi obvious while others are bc i like it ahehahhaheha

cupid's bow lips! this was semi inspired by Mizuki Umetsu, the actor for Noritoshi in the jjk stage play! hes so. pretty. perfect guy for the role imo! i was captivated therefore my views changed.

longer hair! the thought that his bangs(? are the same length, or longer, as the rest of his hair is nice.. it also makes his inevitable haircut much more refreshing! i also just like long hair and its a fucking waste not to do whatever the i want.

thicker brows and visible eyelashes! i naturally draw thicker eyebrows because it looks pretty, but the eyelashes is so fucking canon bro. dont even fight me on this, you'll lose. i read a fic about Noritoshi where it said he took good care of himself and his appearance inspired jealousy. that fucked me up man, so now i draw him as beautiful as i can.

monolids! I've looked through the manga and i think its highly implied that Noritoshi has monolids? yk those lines in between the eye and eyebrow, he doesnt have them in the manga. i thought it was because of the expressions he had, but no. the others have them, except geto! so geto also having monolids is so fr in my head. i like that feature abt him.

loose hairs! the hairs that i draw on his face. they make him look so cute and a bit more relaxed. he's not trying to be perfect nor have a single strand out of place. he's just a bit more at ease... though if there's something important he has to go through, he sharpens up. becomes.. stiffer?

That feels like being slapped in the face, somehow.

The highest level of worry I can feel these people experience is, idk, doctoral thesis defense level of worry. Maybe doctoral thesis defense while dealing with a personal tragedy at the same time. They act like they are going through a kind of trial, where it's difficult, but if you do everything right, you're expected to succeed.

They are supposedly opposing an overwhelming force, and the whole way through they are acting like they know they will succeed if they do everything right.

I don't know. I come from a part of the world where so many people did their best so much, so many fought and sacrificed, and died. And it wasn't. It wasn't enough. There was an overwhelming force and there wasn't some right way to do everything and succeed against it. Spoiler warning, there never is, actually, against an overwhelming force. And you have to live knowing that and do your best anyway.

Veilguard knows shit all about resilience and being stubbornly positive in the face of overwhelming odds, is what I'm saying. That's not what that feels like.

It's not about peddling false promises that you can win if you just do everything right.

And you might say, isn't this a video game you can beat and get your good ending? Isn't that promise inherent in the medium?

To which I say, first of all, no, it's not actually inherent, but also video games can convey that experience of opposing an overwhelming force truthfully despite that.

it's finally here!!! my beloved fic for the 520 day guardian reverse exchange! this was written for trobadora, who gave me the most delicious set of ideas to fit into a story. it was so fun.

i have no idea how to describe this fic, frankly - this is, hands down, the most complex and most heartwrenching and most incredible thing i've ever written in my entire life.

Headcanons for daan

I haven't done too much historical research so forgive me if some of this is culturally inaccurate. but here we go

He's underweight due to avoidance of food when stressed/moody. You can see his ribs a little. He generally has a bony, gaunt look to his body and skin. He used to eat better when with the baron.

Chronic smoking has his lips pale and cracked as well as eventually forming nicotine stains. He overall reeks of smoke too.

Has bad eye bags from irregular sleep and stress. He also itches/picks at the stitches around his missing eye when particularly wound up.

Has a bad slouch, but since he's been taught to have a straight back and polite posture as a butler, he snaps into position around others.

Because of Eihner and time spent in hoity-toity culture, he:

Can play piano. Was taught per recommendation from Eihner. He doesn't enjoy it and can only read music sheets, he can't improv it at all.

Is a decent cook due to butler work.

Loves to dance, he finds ballroom dances and waltz charming. He would dance with Elise a lot at home.

Is dexterous and precise, especially with his hands, due to medical training. Has nice, cursive handwriting.

Doesn't know how to drive due to using taxis all his adult life.

He still wears his wedding band from his marriage with Elise, even long after the festival is over. He also keeps a photo of her in his wallet.

He's considered getting a glass eye, but for guilt relating to Elise, he leaves the decision in the air and never thought about much.

He carries a cigarette tin, lighter, pocket mitror, comb, and wallet in most situations. He stores what he can in his inner/vest pockets so his pants pockets can be empty for his hands.

A genuine grin from him is slightly off putting. His canines are just pronounced enough to be of note but they aren't unnatural looking.

A bubble bath with a shot of whiskey in one hand and a cigarette wedged between his fingers is his favorite way to relax.

Familiar with many languages but is only really fluent in his home language (whatever funger equivalent there is to Dutch) and English (Rondish?). His accent is difficult to read due to picking up so many dialects growing up.

He always sleeps head to toe in pajamas (or whatever equivalent). Even socks.

He knows a bit about fashion and clothing design due to Elise's passion for it. But his judgement on what looks nice is skewed sometimes because he doesn't have a natural eye for it. He likes the look of stripes on argyle, for example.

He had a bit of a passion for medical work before the war, but after serving and his view of the baron soured, his interest diminished to finding it practical and nothing else. He has more passion for bartending than anything else now.
