something I find really funny when it comes to latam 'conservatives is' posters is that they swallow the "the problem is forced inclusivity' bait, not recognizing that people that say this actually mean that putting a lbgtq character is always forced, because they shouldn't exist.
So you have a bunch of people like "we liked not forced inclusivity 🥳🥳🥳 love her" and like. The people you're quoting dislike you too, babe. (And like, they literally dislike you for being brown but let's not get into that rn rolfmao)

Do you legitimately think men don't harass women in bathrooms? Like genuinely? Cause I can tell you right now, my middle and high school had shared bathrooms and the boys absolutely fucking harassed the girls all the fucking time.
To make fun of them when they heard period product wrappers and to make sex jokes.
I'd love to live in your world where people avoid eye contact in bathrooms 100% of the time, but alas, some of us live in the real world.
You not having a shitty experience with a predator or an abuser doesn't mean others have never experiences such.
I'm sorry that happened to you and I am aware this thing happens sometimes.
on an unrelated note, trans women are women. they aren't men. and they are much, much more likely (MUCH MORE!!!!!!!) to be assaulted than do the assaulting.
on a third unrelated note, you can go into whatever bathroom you want because there are no bathroom police. I (cis woman) have gone into multi-stalled men's bathrooms multiple times and nothing happened. I did not cross dress in order to do it. I didn't have to! because there are no bathroom police. I especially did not have to go thru the mega-hassle of getting T or doing any other sort of medical transition. I walked in there, boobs boobing, hair long, no make-up, and did my business and left. crazy how you can just like, walk thru doorways, huh. that's always the thing that gets me about your arguments. you can go into whatever bathroom you want, and so can everyone else, and the only thing stopping you are societal rules we impose on ourselves. there is no potty police. no bathroom brigade. no privy vigilantes. no can commanders. no facility fighters.
on a fourth unrelated note (brought to you by innuendo studios), you are falling for the conservative framework where bad things either happen, or they don't. school shootings happen or they don't. people either die from preventable illnesses or they don't. sexual assaults either happen or they don't. therefore there's no point to doing anything about it because you can't regulate evil. or, really, you can't regulate all evil. there is no world where every single assault, shooting, death from preventable illness, or whatever doesn't happen. you are leaving absolutely no room for scale. if one woman gets assaulted in the bathroom, then assaults happen and we all need to fear the penis!!!! when that's just not the world we live in. penises are not evil contraptions of the devil constantly trying to penetrate you. most people, regardless of gender, do not give a shit about you. most people mind their own damn business. nobody is out to get you. men are not constantly thinking about preying on you. they're probably thinking about football. or work. or music. or their kids. or shopping they need to do. or about their blorbos. or about plans this saturday they're looking forward to. or a million billion things that have absolutely nothing to do with you, some stranger they will never see again.
I'm not saying we should all go walk down strange dark alleyways at night hugging the wall but like... I am really genuinely sorry if you spend all your time afraid and angry. I've perused terf blogs on occasion. all y'all are afraid and angry all the time. and sure, that's just a tumblr blog. idk what you do offline. but anyways, you don't have to be afraid and angry all the time. you shouldn't be in a community that constantly affirms your worst fears in order to keep you afraid and angry. terfs prey on hurt, confused, scared women and tell them "yes, all men are evil!" and "yes, you are valuable just for being a woman!" and suck them into this ideology of hate (ironically this sentence is also a borrowed observation from the alt-right playbook, and maybe the fact that your movement does the same thing to you as the alt-right does to vulnerable, hurt, confused, and scared cishet white men should be a red flag but idk).
maybe that just sounds patronizing. but I mean it. you really don't have to be afraid and angry all the time.
but if you send me any more asks especially if they're nastier you're getting blocked.

What i liked about the series Maestro aside from the cinematography, music, acting, story etc, is the way it handles the very core things of greek society that other greek series dont even bother to develop. For example, the plot of domestic abuse as shocking as it is, on a greek series is not something new. Yet alike the others, Maestro analyses it more, like why this character suffers from it, what's their backstory, what will happen about it. It doesn't shy away from it but it's also portrayed realistically.
For example, greek series Sasmos and Gi tis Elias, both have arcs that tackle assault yet it's something minor to the story (when it shouldn't). The victims will say it to their love interest or friends for help the story will have a heat argument, some police chase for action and that's it. Its never mentioned again or how it affected the victim :/
[Numerous spoilers ahead]
I love the way the topic is tackled in Maestro. Not just the accuracy and realism but also the educative nature of it. For example, it might be hinted that Antonis and Spyros might not have the exact same orientation. Antonis explains that he can sleep with a woman but not fall in love with her, which could indicate he’s homoromantic with some sexual flexibility. He looks somewhat excited when his friend/girlfriend says he’s a good lover and once he even tries genuinely to initiate it with her. As we saw in the last episode, Spyros struggles on the other hand. Imagine certain middle-aged macho Greek viewers trying to figure out what a homoromantic or a homoflexible person or a homoromantic bisexual is, for example 😂 This is some nuance missing from Greek TV.
Then I like that it’s made clear that the fathers are both disapproving but in different ways. I believe that Phanes is nowdays the most common homophobic example: he expresses concern about Antonis’ happiness (which btw is kinda valid if Antonis stays in the small island community) but as we also can tell from his personality, Phanes probably worries above all that this can affect his political career and public image, therefore himself and people’s opinion of him. Also, he says one of the most realistic phrases ever “Okay I said I accept it but do you expect me to celebrate or congratulate you or something? How comfortable exactly do you want me to be?”.
Haralambos on the other hand…. I am not gonna repeat what his main concern was… but it is unfortunately realistic for misogynistic and violent men. Haralambos is extreme but you hear extreme things in the news and it is common in remote, rural, conservative areas with poor education.
I know exactly what scene you are talking about. I was impressed (and blood-chilled) too. The monster creates a monster. It also makes you wonder though; what Haralambos’ youth and childhood might have been like for him to have become that beast… Because Spyros is a good boy, yet slowly…slowly… Haralambos’ poison works.
And of course the fear of seeking help, of going to the police. Maria has been afraid for ages but when she sees Yanna she realises she might have to fight for someone else instead of herself before it’s too late and hopefully this will give her the huge inner strength she needs… Another very realistic thing and something we always ask when seeing something relevant in the news “why nobody spoke up” is that EVERYONE in the island knows about it. Even the whole class that day knew what “happened to Mrs Maria”. Which means it’s the gossip of the whole town and it saddens everyone yet nobody tries to help or nobody wants to deal with Haralambos later.
All these have been portrayed IMO so raw, so realistically, sometimes it almost feels like a documentary to me. It could as well be very triggering to people with similar traumas but it’s an ugly truth that has never been so openly presented on tv.
In order to alleviate the atmosphere though… can we also talk about childhood friends to lovers trope? 😭

I’m the sex positivity anon, sorry was not trying to make you feel attacked! I just haven’t encountered anyone who was anti-sex positivity before (who wasn’t like super conservative) and was just genuinely curious about your views/ whether there was something about sex positivity I wasn’t aware of and should be. I take it from your response that’s not a convo you want to have? So sorry for springing it on you, hope you have a great day!
I wouldn't really consider myself anti-sex positivity. I like sex, I support sex workers, and I think it's important for use to stray away from the idea that sex is dirty/shameful/sin/etc. However there's a lot about sex positive movement that simply don't vibe with.
Not everyone was meant to have causal sex.
I'm not trying to clutch my pearls here but causal sex isn't right for everyone. Some people aren't there emotionally. Some people use it as a form of selfharm. Some people aren't there maturity wise. Some people just perfer to having sex that's meaningful with partners they like/love. Some people are asexual and don't want sex at all.
Kink culture bullshit
I could write a book about my feelings of kink culture. Ideally adults doing what they want in the privacy shouldn't be an issue. But it is mainly because it's no longer private. I remember reading a news article about a dominatrix that decided to operate her business in a regular apartment building in Harlem. The residents were complaining about all the strange men coming and going and constantly being able to hear what was going on. And this woman didn't live in her studio or in the neighborhood but she decided that the mostly working class mostly Black neighborhood should somehow be just peachy with that. Or those weirdos that chain there partners up and walk them around the block. The fucking kink "community" is outta control. I remember seeing a dumbass post on here that said something to the effect "it's 2017 stop pretending you don't like to be choked during sex." I could go on but imma wrap up this section with two things: 1. safe, sane and consensual means that everyone doesn't agree with everything happening in the scene that the scene shouldn't happen. Misusing sex positivity movement to justify you performing kink in public nonsexual spaces is evil. 2. Kinks do not exist in a vacuum. A lot of what is considered kinky and taboo is so patriarchal i.e women being abused for sexual pleasure, the everlasting fuckery of dd/lg culture, those 24/7 dominantion couples (I will set that fucking man on fire and watch him burn). go watch How To Start A Sex Cult on youtube. Basically kink should kept private and you should be asking yourself why are you into this.
men hate womem
like men literally hate women. so many cishet men refuse to see women as human beings. they're spending their time trying to doxx girls with onlyfans pages whole running blogs/twitters filled with nothing but stolen sex work content. you best believe this men love the idea that they can pretend to care about feminism in order to push women into situations they're not comfortable with for their own pleasure.
not enough emphasis on safer sex
I feel like the sex positivity movement doesn't touch on subjects about how to make sex safer. like we could all use a refresher from sex ed especially since a lot of people didn't get medically accurate information in high school. we should hear more from voices that are living with stis. ella dawson has done great work in on making stis not so scary but I rarely hear her being talked about anymore.
I have a few more issues but these are my main gripes

ok i got one note which is enough for me to take that as a yes.
crowley during his last couple seasons represents (to me) the queer community of the fanbase. and by queer community i mean queer hellers/destiel fans specifically. the crowd addressed when 'you're not crazy' was tweeted out. bc honestly???? crowley is seen as a joke to literally everyone in the story. everyone, especially the boys, sees him as this loser clinging to whatever semblance of control he thinks he has while everyone either hates him or doesnt have the patience for him. only when he's DEAD do they treat him with the slightest bit of respect, if any (which is to me, too little too late). the way crowley was treated, despite being a fan favourite, reflects how it felt to me as a fan convinced i really wasnt nuts viewing the show through a queer lens despite being told i was repeatedly for years. the crowds booing people at cons when they just want to earnestly discuss lgbtq themes or topics that really arent that taboo are a really good reflection of the toxic environment the execs, con staff and even some cast members created to appease the conservative demographic we all know was always looming behind us. how dare crowley think he's got the right to hold onto his throne he worked his way up to?? of course every single demon hates him! why shouldn't they, when there's a much more sensible option, aka LUCIFER? sam and dean repeatedly treat crowley like a waste of breath, someone to roll their eyes at in virtually every scene, even after his "i deserve to be loved" outburst AND when he actually starts helping them without any real ulterior motives. he's a character that's got absolutely no one in his corner, not even his own mother.
and what was crowley?? about as close to openly queer a main/recurring character got to this show. pretty sure he was the only male presenting crossroads demon shown on screen making a deal and kissing another man, and if anything that scene poked fun at the homophobic man, not crowley. he posseses a woman and canonically has an orgy with another woman and other men and doesnt have patience for anyone judging him for it. if that isnt queer idk what is lol.
crowley's treated like the ugliest of the bunch, the forgotten middle child, the kid you repeatedly chastise. he's the kid running up to you tugging on your sleeve and always receiving "not now" as the response. ive run out of ways to properly describe him but you get this gist hopefully. that's how we were made to feel and still are. that we're taking up too much unwanted space, that the people that arent in our corner are just waiting for us to go away, to stop talking. the way he dies is something that's bothered me since i watched it live. he sacrifices himself for a bunch of guys that dont give two shits about him, one of which he practically had a fling with only a couple years beforehand. and he looks so SAD about it too. he looks empty and tired and says not too long before this that he hates his job. the one thing he was desperate to hang on to wasnt even something he could have in the end. they give him a goodbye when he's gone and dead, when he's no longer around to hear a potential thank you. crowley was finally quieted when he literally killed himself after having absolutely nothing and nobody to live for. idk about you guys but that felt like a really low blow especially for a character so many people loved.
this isnt even to say that mark s was one of the few dudes that was actually normal with fans (is it because of his extensive resume filled with countless other genre television and that he's been in the con scene for a super long time?? maybe, who knows). like he was blatantly unafraid to talk about cas coming out. he treated lgbt fans like people.
crowley literally just wanted someone to listen to him, to be around FOR him and no one ever was. that's why he acted out. and he repeatedly is shown exhibiting characteristics of a person craving community and is repeatedly shot down. who said years ago that crowley was the guy "you loved to hate"?? i dont remember who it was but that quote just rubs me the wrong way now. felt like it was lot more bubbling under the surface to create a character the writers loved to torment with so many failed arcs and then kill off. this doesnt really make a lot of sense i just read that article that's been circulating today and it got me thinking. :/
just had a very sad thought occur to me. does anyone wanna hear it lol it has to do with crowley
