I never loved the idea of "retiring from a fandom" PEOPLE CAN STILL BE IN IT EVEN IF THEY'RE NOT MAKING CONTENT OF IT EVERY DAY !! Voltron Season 8 Meta Introduction

Hi! Welcome to "Uncharted Regions."

Now that it's been several years since Voltron Season 8 came out, the news of Netflix's removal of the series on December 14th, 2024 shook the fandom and pop culture as a whole.

You may be wondering... 1) Huh?! 2) Why?! It's a Netflix Original! 3) I loved this show, I don't understand! I was the same, too. We were all a little confused. However, licensing rights were ending to Netflix and Netflix doesn't want to renew. Fair play.

As someone who worked in a corporate company who also provides live streaming services + has a degree in television production, I have a better understanding of the executive decisions at play that comes down to it. It was not too hard to decipher why when you know what went on in the trenches of the Voltron fandom from 2016-2018.

The bottom line is that Netflix marketing did not match the source material provided, and there was intensive discourse across multiple facets of the fandom. You can imagine Netflix were not fans of the outcome of the series, and may not have even been told by Dreamworks the outcome of the series when Season 8 dropped; especially when Netflix's global social media accounts openly admitted to shipping Klance on Twitter.

Regardless, we're not looking at who's to blame, but you do have to wonder how such a large international miscommunication between Netflix, Dreamworks, and Voltron's IP holders went down the corporate funnel.

...I digress, let's move on.

As many people did from the news of it's removal (which also surprised the official Voltron accounts), I got back into the Voltron fandom really quickly and tried to rewatch as much as I could before it's inevitable removal from Netflix.

I haven't touched this show in years, friends. Not since 2020. The rewatch showed me one thing: that this show is breathtaking, stunning, and at it's core - it represented change. It's truly one of it's kind. To have the crew from Avatar: the Last Airbender, and Legend of Korra working on it on such a high level? Hell, there was an MFE pilot spin off in the works.

There was a lot of promising stories to tell with new outcomes and twists with a classic IP such as Voltron. It was promising a new future and fresh takes with comics, games, and so much more.

Now, alike to most viewers, I was there when Season 8 dropped. Hell, I was at the NYCC 2018 panel where they gave out these posters (which will be VERY relevant to this meta, I assure you):

The hype of Voltron Season 8 lead to a FULL panel that got closed off mid-way in the line. Many fans flew from across the globe (including myself) to get a glimpse of the showrunners, cast & crew, and a unique slice of the pie into Voltron Season 8's trailer.

The excitement was unlike anything I'd ever experienced before in a fandom. It was extremely thrilling, the trailer was outstanding, and Season 8 wasn't too far away.

Then Season 8 dropped on Netflix... December 14th, 2018.

It was jarring. There were plot points that made no sense, obvious edits to scenes, censorships like a One Piece 4Kids dub, characters cut and pasted into scenes, and storylines were slapped together like a messy sandwich. And it was incredibly obvious too.

The fandom noticed and reacted accordingly - asking questions and demanding answers left, right, and centre. The showrunners responded through podcasts and statements on various levels.

The answer was clear... their vision wasn't the only vision going into the show:

"You know, as we sort of got through the process of premise, script, it went all the way down the line. It got storyboarded. And then at some point, you know, we received pushback from the studio and you know, we were sort of a little confused, like, “hey, how did it go, like, so far down the line before we received pushback?” And you know, this is not like a, like, a vilifying of DreamWorks or anything, like, every exec that we ever interacted with was, it was like, “hey, we understand why you want to tell this story. We understand where you’re coming from. It’s a little bit bigger than that. You know, there’s-there’s other, sort of, controlling parties with Voltron which makes it unique. It’s not just a DreamWorks-owned property.” And it just–I think logistically it just got really, really weird."

Fans promptly started a petition two days later to release the original Season 8. THAT'S how obvious the editing was and how obvious the deterred, original vision had become.

As a disappointed fan and someone who studied media analysis intrinsically for university, I did try to rewatch back then, and it was painful to watch. What happened? There were layers of context on the cutting room floor and scenes didn't make sense. Hell, each episode title always has a double layered meaning, and even those layers were stripped from the core of the episodes for the most part. This left fans to say, "Whaaaaat is going ON?" The entire fandom was hurt by what had occurred.

The cast & crew that were also unaware of these story changes were also quite hurt, too. To make it more apparent, the showrunners were pretty open on speaking about leaving the project as well on the Buzzfeed Aftershow Podcast, but they simply couldn't:

LM: It’s not-it’s not just like, “Oh I can’t afford my mortgage!” You know, we have a crew that we care about we brought onto this show. If we abandoned them, we-we don’t know what’s in store for them. We don’t know, do they get to stay on? Do they get to keep their jobs? Does someone else come on and then they’re working under someone else that they didn’t sign up for? Or–

JDS: Or they’re working under someone else that’s just gonna be like, “Alright, we’re just gonna finish the show and not really do right by the rest of it.”

We all wanted answers, and sure, some members of the team did speak up - but it didn't provide clear answers on what was the go with Season 8 being edited so far into post-production.

Now, this blog isn't dedicated to restoring Season 8 to it's original format (that would be lovely, but we have to be realistic - it has been 7 years and no google drives of the original season 8 have dropped so far). No, no.

That might happen (I've got a positive mindset on it - someone has to have a back up copy on some hard drive somewhere), or maybe it will be released... in a green sock reality.

Rather, this blog is dedicated to all the fans (new & old) whom want a sense of closure to as to why their favourite show on Netflix from 2016-2018 dropped the ball so hard for Season 8.

Not thinking much of it, I had posted a twitter thread detailing how the ending with all the lions flying off looked a little odd.

...And so, I received an anonymous inbox on New Years Day, 2025

This DM... was the start to an unravelling of webs and a rewatch that crumbled immediately. The cracks were all there.

I rewatched Season 8 with this information at hand with a few of my closest online friends, and we were shocked at how much there was to uncover. We were absolutely FLOORED by what was found, including incredible pieces of evidence from the fandom itself.

Now... Why does this matter? It's been YEARS and I'm sure we're not the first to uncover some pieces of information (See the #FreeVLDS8 movement - so, so many good finds there as a foundational point of reference).

Some of what we've uncovered in these Uncharted Regions has NOT been covered by the fandom before, nor does it scratch the surface of what's been found as of yet.

Welcome to the Uncharted Regions of Voltron Season 8.

Our aim for this meta is to acknowledge the following with detailed evidentiary support: 1. The editing of multiple episodes & scenes.

From there, we will look at the alleged changes: 2. Plot points & scenes that may or may not have had cuts. 3. Providing official-style edited shots comparisons to portray how some scenes should've looked in the original Season 8. 4. Piecing each episode / episode orders together (as best as we can) 5. The original ending.

Cheers to the beginning of a new meta, a new hope, and a new perspective on what truly happened to Voltron Season 8.

The one thing I humbly request is PLEASE... No hate towards the showrunners, cast, crew, or the official Voltron IP holders. There's a lot that has changed culturally and intrinsically within the industry over the years and this outcome was not something they could simply control. Let's be adults, look at this open conversation with empathy and love, and respectfully, let's indulge in this topic with grace - your feelings, however, are incredibly valid when it comes to this meta and what we uncover, as there's many alleged finds that may shock the fandom.

Pining For A Prince | Part 1

Pairing: Keith x Lance 

Warnings: little bit of language

A/N: So I saw this adorable Disneyland AU by @caelestee a couple of weeks ago and was obsessed with the idea of this AU so I decided I needed to write it. It’s the first Klance thing I’ve ever written but it’s also one of my favourite things I’ve ever written so 🤷‍♀️ It’s primarily Klance but there’s some background Romellura, Hunay and Adashi too. I don’t know how long this is going to end up being and how long it’s going to take to update every time but it will be finished eventually so I hope you stick with it if you enjoy it!

Keith wiped the excess sweat from his brow as the little girl and her family walked away. He was boiling alive in the early-afternoon Californian sun but seeing the smiles he put on the faces of the little kids who came up to him made it all worth it. Contrary to popular belief, Keith actually wasn't as shy or brooding as most people assumed, he just naturally gave off a loner vibe in everyday life. He was great with kids and he loved being able to make others smile, his job at disneyland was a dream.

A soft gasp met his ears and he turned towards the sound, finding a young girl with bright red hair tugging on her mother's arm not far away.

“Mummy! Mummy! It's Prince Eric, I have to meet him!”

“Okay darling, go ahead.” The girl squealed with delight and ran towards him as her mother followed at a more leisurely pace.

“Ariel! Could it be? I've been looking everywhere for you!” Keith expertly feigned his character's surprise and joy at seeing ‘his princess’, his reaction making her giggle, the sound purer than anything he'd ever heard.

“Noo-o-ooo-oo,” her laughter broke up the drawn-out sound into more syllables than it should have been as she shook her head, “I'm not Ariel, she's my favourite princess though!” Keith gave her a thoughtful look as he crouched down to her level.

“Are you sure? You look just like her!” The girl giggled and blushed some more. “If you're really not Ariel then what's your name little princess?”

“Esme, but I'm not a princess, Prince Eric.”

“Esme, huh? Well that's kind of a pretty name. Princess Esme, it's an honour to meet you.” He stood and gave her a little bow before crouching down to talk to her again. After a few minutes she was ready to move on.

“Can I get picture please?” She asked before leaving.

“Of course princess!”

The girl's mother took out her phone and Keith posed with the girl for a couple of photos before also signing her autograph book. He promised to tell Ariel all about her before she met her later and the girl walked away with a grin wide enough to split her own face in two.

“Well who knew Mr brooding could be so charming? I may just swoon.” The teasing voice of Matt, or as he was known to park guests - Peter Pan, came from right behind him and he almost jumped out of his skin. He looked around quickly, seeing that the immediate area was mostly clear.

“Jesus, Matt! Warn a guy next time.”

“I'd say sorry if I was.”

“I appreciate that. And obviously I can be charming, I had to be to get the job. It remains a mystery how a menace like you managed to get cast though.” He smirked at his friend who just shrugged and grinned back as they both headed towards a cast member-only area for a break.

“Why do you think I got Peter Pan?”

“How's it going with your sister as your new Tink?”

“She's doing good so far, definitely has the mischievous persona down, and she's warming up to all the meeting and greeting.”

“That's good to hear. Honestly I was surprised when she told us the news, I always thought she hated kids.”

“She doesn't really, she's not a fan of the idea of having them but she's pretty good with them when she tries.” Matt shrugged and grabbed a bottle of water, downing the whole thing before reaching for another as Keith did the same. He almost choked on it a second later as a voice he'd recognise anywhere reached him.

“Keith! Matt! What's up guys?” Lance. Neither he nor Matt could reply immediately, Keith too busy choking and Matt laughing at him. “You okay buddy?” Lance came over to him and clapped a hand between his shoulders in an attempt to help.

“Yeah...I'm good.” He managed to splutter out and Matt finally managed to stop laughing.

“Great. Well, I've gotta get back out there, Allura's waiting on me. I'll see you both before the parade!” Lance disappeared almost as quickly as he'd arrived and Keith was left staring at the space he'd occupied just moments ago. His brain struggled to catch up with the swiftness of the interaction as it continued to fixate on where Lance's hand had rested on his back.

“If you don't stop with the dewy-eyed schoolgirl look in the next five seconds I'm telling everyone about your crush on Lance.” Matt threatened after spending a good 30 seconds waiting for Keith to snap out of it. The threat had the desired effect and Keith whipped his head round with a glare so quickly he almost gave himself whiplash.

“I will kill you if you even think about it, Holt.”

“I'd like to see you try.” It was an empty challenge, they both knew Keith would easily beat Matt in a fight but they also knew Keith would never hurt a friend. “But seriously, you should ask him out anyway.”

“Not unless you stop making heart eyes at the girl from the gift shop and actually talk to her.”

“Hey! I'll make a move eventually.”

“We all know that's not true, Matt.” A new voice joined their conversation.

“Shut up Shiro, you don't get to judge when it took you 3 years to ask Adam on a date.”

“Touché. You're still hopeless though.” He grinned as Matt scowled and Keith gave him a high five, glad to have someone on his side.

“Not as hopeless as your brother - the Prince of pining.”

“True, it must run in the family.” Keith shot his brother a betrayed look.

“Et tu, Brute?”

“Keith, you've had this crush on Lance since your sophomore year and you barely ever even talk to the guy, you brought the teasing on yourself.”

“Don't you have work to be doing?” Keith's voice was almost a growl, siblings really were the worst sometimes.

“Nope, I'm on a break. I've got a full 20 minutes to irritate my little brother.” He grinned the kind of grin which strikes pure fear into the heart of a younger sibling for it promises the kind of mischief and evil only an older sibling has the power to rain down on them. Keith, all too aware of the depths to which he and Shiro would go, wisely decided to make a swift exit at the sight of it. Yeah, he still had about 10 minutes of his break left but he decided just to take some extra time before the parade. No way was he going to suffer through Shiro's teasing if there was another choice.

“Well in that case I'm going back out. See you later guys.”

“Later Keith!” Matt called after him as he practically jogged away.

“You can't escape this forever Keith! I'm going to tease the shit out of you back home!” Shiro's not-quite-farewell earned him the middle finger from Keith and his answering laugh seemed to follow Keith even after he was well out of earshot. Brothers really were hell.

An hour after his brief encounter with Keith, Lance's hand was still tingling as if some of Keith's very essence still clung to it and the constant reminder was only prolonging his internal freak out. He spun Allura with practiced grace as they performed together for a small crowd in New Orleans Square but even the feeling of her hand in his couldn't rid him of the memory of how it had felt to touch Keith.

Finally their dance came to an end and Lance spent a few minutes talking to the kids and taking photos alongside Allura before they headed off to get ready for the afternoon parade. He couldn't keep the grin off his face or the spring from his step as they walked over to where the rest of the cast members gathered, so excited to get to see Keith again. However briefly that may be. The boy was beautiful, Lance was unafraid the admit that, especially in his Prince get-up, and even just a glimpse of his smile could make Lance's heartbeat go wild.

It was difficult to pinpoint exactly when he'd started developing a crush, certainly it was back in high school sometime. Back when Keith had been little more than a brooding shadow at the back of his classes, an enigma that Lance had spent far too much time trying to figure out instead of focusing on his studies. Knowing it was hopeless though, he'd buried that crush deep down for a long time and moved on, that was, until they'd both gotten cast as princes at Disneyland and Lance had found himself falling all over again.

It had been a shock, if he was honest, that not only had Keith auditioned (Keith! brooding, slightly menacing Keith wanted a job at Disneyland!), but he'd actually got the job. Knowing what the job entailed meant re-evaluating everything he'd thought he knew about Keith and, with this new perspective on the guy, Lance knew he was screwed. And that was before he'd seen him in costume!

“Someone's excited to see his Prince Charming it seems.” Allura's smirk was clear in her voice and Lance didn't even bother to turn his head to see it.

“He's Prince Eric, not Prince Charming. Wrong movie Allura.” He replied without thinking and it took a few seconds for him to realise his mistake. “Shit.”

He could feel the triumph radiating from the girl beside him and wanted nothing more than for the ground to swallow him up right there. Allura loved nothing more than to tease him and he'd just handed her all the ammunition she needed to make his life hell for at least a couple of months.

“Oh my god! You finally admitted it Lance! I finally got you!” She bounced along beside him and clapped gleefully. “Oh this is perfect!”

“Allura, I swear if you breathe a word to anyone else I will stop helping you with Romelle.” He didn't particularly like having to use that threat, he wanted Allura and Romelle to get together as much as anyone, but desperate times call for desperate measures. She pouted at that but agreed.

“Fine, I won't say anything but nothing you can do is going to stop the teasing. And I am sooo helping you get him, it's now my mission in life.”

“You're a nightmare.” He rolled his eyes and sighed in exasperation but his voice was fond.

“Yep, but that's why you love me...almost as much as you love Keith.” She grinned and ran ahead to join the rest of their friends before Lance had a chance to retaliate and he sighed once again before walking over at a more leisurely pace.

“Lance!” Matt and Pidge yelled in sync, identical mischievous smiles on both their faces as they waved him over. He didn't trust those smiles one bit.

“Hey guys, how's it going?” He asked, somehow managing to keep his suspicion out of his voice and off his face.

“Oh same as ever, just now with the added entertainment from my darling sister.” Matt pulled said sister into a side hug which looked to be crushing the smaller girl.

“Fuck off Matt.”

“Language Pidgey! This is Disney, no swearing allowed!” Lance gave her the disappointed parent look and she narrowed her eyes at him.

“You can fuck off as well.” The two boys just sighed.

“You really are a delight to be around you know?”

“I try.” Her smile was falsely sweet as she batted her eyelashes before something behind Lance caught her eye. He watched with growing dread as that smile turned downright wicked and spun around to see what caused it. His stomach dropped as he saw Keith and Ezor a few feet away, deep in conversation, whatever Pidge had in mind was not going to end well for him.

“Keith! Dude come over here!” Keith looked over at the shout and Lance saw his face twisting with some sort of emotion he couldn't decipher as he saw the three of them. Ezor, however, looked knowingly between them and smirked before dragging over a reluctant Keith.

“Fancy seeing you here,” She said by way of greeting, still with that oddly knowing look.

“Considering it's their job as well as ours, that shouldn't be so surprising.” Keith helpfully pointed out.

“You're no fun.”

“Leave him alone, it's not his fault he's intrinsically grumpy.” Pidge finally managed to extract herself from Matt's hug in time to properly tease Keith.

“I hate all of you.”

“Liar.”

“Pidge, if you called me over just to be mean then I'm going. Maybe the princesses will be better company.” Lance felt himself wilt slightly at the prospect of Keith going, the break before the parade was one of the few times in the day he had a chance to have a proper conversation with him. Even when he could hardly manage to say a word, he could at least be in his presence and sometimes that was enough.

“Y'know, I expect they would be. YO ALLURA!” The heads of all the girls whipped around at the yell. “Bring your princess troupe over here, these guys are boring.”

“Coming!” She, Nadia, Romelle, Shay, and Nyma came to join them though the rest of the princesses elected not to, they'd never really gotten comfortable in this particular group of friends.

“What's up?” Nadia greeted them and Lance zoned out the conversation for a bit. Keith had shuffled closer to him to make room for the girls and he became uncomfortably aware of the heat radiating from him even through the heat of the day. He spent most of the next 10 minutes sneaking glances at Keith whenever there was no attention on him. He couldn't help it, whenever he was around him his gaze was drawn to the boy like a magnet and he was long passed trying to resist the pull.

“Alright, 5 minutes to show time, everyone in place!” Coran interrupted both Lance’s thoughts and the group’s conversation, all of them heading off to their respective floats. He chanced one last glance at Keith, only to find him already looking at him. Cheeks heating alarmingly, Lance whipped his head back round and boarded his float where Allura was waiting, a falsely innocent smile on her face as she pointedly didn’t look at him. It was a deliberate tactic to irritate him into talking to her and letting her tease him. He knew this but he still asked anyway.

“What’s that smile for.”

“Oh nothing, just planning you and Keith’s wedding, it’s going to be beautiful, a private beach ceremony at sunset, fireworks later, fairy lights everywhere, you two sneaking off to dance and kiss on the beach and under the stars during the reception. Shiro will be Keith’s best man, Hunk yours, your niece will be the cutest flower girl ever and Pidge, Romelle, Veronica and I can be your bridesmaids. You can do the bouquet throw and we'll all let Shay catch it and Hunk will be all flustered as it gives him the courage to finally propose to her. Everyone will be happy crying and we'll all eat too much and drink too much and we'll have the biggest party ever. No one will ever want it to end. It will be even better than Shiro and Adam’s.”

“Shiro hasn’t even proposed yet.”

“I know, but I have their wedding planned already as well. Yours will be better though.”

“I’m not marrying Keith, Allura, it’s just a crush. An unrequited one at that.”

“Sure it-” before she could finish their float started moving and they had to quickly get into character. It was hard for Lance to concentrate with Allura’s teases circling around his brain. He had to admit, she had planned his perfect wedding. Right down to his perfect groom.

Okay, so I read through a bunch of different spoiler free, S7 articles, and I’m going to give my opinions on things I read, and I did take some screenshots of different articles, so this ends up getting kind of long because I am a long-winded person. (Edit: I lied. This got super long.)

First of all, the consensus is that this season is going to be a wild one that focuses more on personal interactions and relationships, which is awesome! 

What we can see from the two above parts of an article (or a couple I can’t remember at this point where I screencapped what from -10 for research habits), is the truth we’ve always known that family is the real story behind Voltron. Lauren said it was about love. It absolutely is. I’m excited to see that this concept is really taking hold here, especially since we’ll be seeing all different kinds of love and family. 

As much as I love my ships, I love the story between everyone has a whole even more. To see this directly is going to be amazing.

Just throwing this out there, I’m like 95% sure they’re referring to Lance here. He’s easily the most sacrificial one of the team, and we know that Jeremy had a hard time voicing something because it was mostly crying. I think we found what it is.

While I’m a bit sad that the girls get pushed aside a bit, I always remember that it doesn’t mean they’re not there, not important, not doing stuff. They are. I get the feeling that they’re not going to go on the same kind of emotional journey as all the boys are this time around, which is kind of telling? 

I’m okay with Shiro not being a Paladin anymore. In fact, I think it’s the best possible thing for his character. He was the perfect leader and comfortable as a Paladin, and the best way to show what a character is made of is to put them in a situation where they’re not in their element entirely. So I am SO excited for Shiro this season.

Also, Hunk focus? Hell yeah. And my little, biased shipper heart did backflips at the last part involving Lance and Keith, though with the acknowledgement that the ‘crush or two’ thing may not at all have to do with them and it could just be about being leader and right-hand of Voltron. Plus...

I’m not quite sure I hold much value in an article that can’t spell Allura’s name right, but if Lance is a focus this season, and Allura’s not, but they show signs of a stronger bond...? 1 + 1 ≠ 2 in this case. Keep in mind, I’m not saying that Lance’s endgame isn’t Allura, I’m just saying that there’s some contradictions here.

Also while on the topic of specific characters...

I saw someone saying ‘oh look Shiro IS going to be a Paladin’. No. No he’s not. This is in reference to Season 3/4 when Shiro returning cut into Keith being Black Paladin. Of course we know the REAL Shiro wouldn’t have pushed Keith and stepped on his toes as much as Kuron did, so I think he’s going to feel bad about that. There may be a little awkwardness to it, but I think we’re going to see Shiro really actively be pushing Keith to lead, taking a step back. It’s what he wanted originally. 

I really, genuinely think that the line up for the lions with this team is final. However, it could hint towards people taking over for them in the future, or moments where they pilot other lions, but not permanently.

This is SUPER interesting. This roadtrip to Earth is going to focus a LOT on interpersonal relationships and I am HERE for that in every sense of the word. I’m very curious about the characters who’ll pull apart, since I honestly can’t see it being the core team, but that doesn’t leave much room, does it? It’s not going to be Keith and his mom. It won’t be Allura and Coran. I COULD see Shiro kind of purposely pulling himself away from the others a bit, including Keith (kind of a stepping off and ‘go be great’ thing like he did with Pidge in S1E1). These don’t HAVE to be negative things. I can’t see it being Keith and anyone, because he’s been gone for a long time from his point of view. So I don’t know.

Gimme all the matchups. Gimme Keith and everyone (since he’s been gone so long). And I genuinely mean everyone. Gimme Keith and Pidge on their field trip or something too. Don’t let them be the Zuko and Toph of the group. ALSO Hunk and Allura. I wanna see them be awesome together. Hunk, Allura, and Romelle side trip please!

Plot lines long thought abandoned. Okay, my shipper brain went towards Klance. I’m sorry, it did. My logical brain, however, says that this is not in reference to that at all. I think that might have to do with Hunk and Shay, whether to say ‘yes this is a thing’ or ‘no sorry but we’ll acknowledge this for you’.  

The second part, character development people have been hoping for with certain PaladinS. Okay, this one does scream relationship-wise to me, but it also CAN still be platonic. It really, really can. I really think this is in reference to either Lance/Keith, or Lance/Allura. And yes, it could genuinely be either one of them. 

This just is sort of reinforcing to him that they’re talking about Lance/Allura, Keith/Lance, or potentially, maybe even Keith/Allura but the last one is less likely to me (that’s the key here, because even watching through again, Keith and Allura being together romantically doesn’t make sense to me, but that’s a personal interpretation. You may very well see something I don’t.)

The way paragraph structure works is you group like things together to make a single point. If something is in the same paragraph, it should be related to other things in it. First episode in season 1 we established that Keith and Lance were going to be tied to one-another’s stories in some form. We also established that Lance was attracted to Allura (he was flirting with her). 

‘Arguably been on that path all along’. They think people are going to argue about it. It’s a romantic ship one way or another, and it has been planned since day one. No amount of screaming, threatening, or crying from a loud, small, nasty part of the fanbase has changed a thing.

I actually can’t find the article where this one came from. Now, first, we need to look at what could possibly be seen as a controversy, since that has a negative connotation to it. It’s also a very interesting word choice. Is it that the majority of the online community is going to lose their shit? Or is it the parents of kids watching it might stop and say ‘wait, what’? 

I genuinely get the feeling that this is either going to have to do with a relationship, or a personal sexuality arc. 

I think if it had to do with Shiro and Adam, they’d say it. It’s not a spoiler anymore. We KNOW they’re going to dive into it more. 

The online fandom is going to be generally super excited for LGBT+ portrayals on this show. It wouldn’t be a controversy at all to show Adashi (I like this one more because Adam called him Takashi), or for Lance to have a bi-arc.

Klance, maybe a little more-so, because shipping in general can be very touchy (if the backlash of calling Adam abusive says anything). It’s still possible though.

Also as much as I don’t want to say it, that small, loud, nasty portion of the fandom that flips out may do just that if Allura and Lance end up being a thing, but honestly, I don’t think either of these last two things would be considered a controversy.

Keep in mind, the core audience of Voltron is not teenage/adult fans online. It’s created as a family show, meaning that it absolutely is made to appeal to older and younger audiences a like, but the core audience are kids.

Kids who don’t spend time on tumblr/twitter freaking out over ship, and their parents that are going to be spending the money on merchandise.

I think many people would be excited to portrayals of LGBT+ relationships, we know that there are those parents that will swear off the show because of it. We know there are people that will scream about it ‘forcing representation in everything’ as if media content in and of itself hasn’t always been informed by political or personal opinions and issues (spoiler alert: it has). 

The ONLY thing I can think that would be considered controversial (which I don’t personally agree with but here we are) would be more LGBT+ rep. Maybe it is just Shiro and Adam’s relationship, maybe it’s Klance, maybe it’s just a bi-arc for Lance. Maybe it’s something else. 

It’s all about perspective. 

OKAY SO THIS PART. THIS PART HERE. They’re going to spend like at least a year and a half getting to Earth. Holy shit. There’s so much room for character moments here and growing together in ways that they couldn’t in the castle. The castleship was HUGE. I mean, the lions are massive and they’re always shown as teeny-tiny compared to it. There was lots of space to get away from one another. Camping in lions? Nope. All together all the time. This is absolutely Why relationships are going to be front and center.

It also means that they’ll be gone from Earth for two years at minimum. That’s insane.

Time itself playing a narrative is amazing too! I get the feeling that everyone’s going to think Voltron is gone. There are going to be aliens on Earth. They also had blueprints nad plans for Altean tech and they had examples of Galra stuff as well. People think Voltron is gone, but they’re not going to completely lose hope. In fact, Voltron will be like martyrs probably. Almost a legend again. ‘Legendary defender’. 

There was also one saying that Voltron might almost be outdated, which is wild but makes so much sense. Lotor made his own that almost beat them, after all (with Allura’s help). Haggar’s been to Oriadne too. Voltron is going to need some kind of boost in the end to go back to being the legendary defender it always was.

And finally...

Klance fandom and Sheith fandom tearing into each other right now is the inevitability a lot of us have been saying since Day 1: You can’t fight toxicity with more toxicity. Using “Oppression” Olympics mindset to justify bashing other ships and hurting other shippers has not and never will be a step toward making this fandom a better, more positive space.

“It’s just venting.” Venting does not take a considerable amount of effort to make a high quality gifset to paint a ship in a very specific, unhealthy light for the sole purpose of being spread around to piss people off. And even if it was just venting, it got spread around, and it hurt a lot of people. Have we not been constantly saying on this hellsite that “intent doesn’t matter, if you hurt someone, you apologize?”

I’ve said this on Twitter but many “sensible” Klance fans are multishippers. We have absolutely received the brunt of antis’ abuse over ships. Even Sheith fans have constantly thrown Shidge and sometimes even Shance under the bus to make Sheith look better when arguing against antis for the past two years. Klance fans who stood up against antis received death threats for being “nasty shallies” and “pedophile apologists” and even put on blacklists despite not being into Shiro ships at all. Ex-antis who use their voices to speak out against anti behavior are stalked and doxed by the people who used to be their friends and know personal information about them. So you could say “sensible” Klance fans/multishippers have been caught in the crossfire of this shipwar for the past two years.

Even now, some people I’m following who are basically saying the same things here have received death threats and abusive anons. Just for asking fandom to be nicer to each other and calling out this Klance ship bashing for the hypocrisy that it is. So thanks for proving our point??

What good has that gifset done? What good has bashing Klance done? Stick it to antis? Honey, antis don’t give a shit what you think and they never had. If they did, they would’ve backed off a long, long time ago. If they cared about what anyone else thinks, we wouldn’t be having this problem in the first place. The only people getting upset are people who are just trying to enjoy their ship in peace just like Sheith shippers. Again, what good are you doing? All this is doing is just taking your frustrations out on fans who’ve done nothing to you but, actually, a lot times, tried to support you. That’s toxic. And hypocritical. And just a dick move in general.

Listen, I understand the frustration against Klantis, I really, really do. They’ve done extremely horrific things. I’m a Shidge shipper if that says anything. And I ship Kallura. ALL of my Kallura art has unnecessary comments from Klantis. Hell, one of my stores was taken down over a report because it featured Kallura art.

And I ship Sheith. More and more by the day. I love making Sheith content and I think it’s a really fun ship (just right now, Allurance has the forefront of my attention thanks to this zine). I adore the relationship between Shiro and Keith, and I think canon is setting it up to be something beautiful if not heartbreaking (gimme that sweet, sweet pain). And before I got into Sheith, I stood up for Sheith fans time and time again as redrobokitty. Because how Sheith was being treated was so incredibly wrong and unfair.

Sorry that sensible Klance fans don’t have much of a platform in this fandom. When we speak out against antis, we don’t get a whole of notes or gain a lot of traction. When you’re blocked by Klantis on one side, and blocked by everyone else because of your unapologetic love for Klance on the other, doesn’t really leave a lot of room for a post to get very far does it? Also, lbr, people in this fandom would rather reblog drama and wank than someone saying “hey how about we not do this?” But it’s not for a lack of fucking trying, I can tell you that much. We are trying. We just don’t have the platform like BNFs and anti-antis do. No one listens to us. And they turn around and dismiss us for not “speaking up”.

Instead of getting all defensive, can we just recognize that asshole behavior exists in all fandom circles, and maybe like not spread it further? You can’t fight toxicity by being toxic yourself. And you don’t have to be an anti to be a toxic person. The bar for treating your fellow fans with decency and respect is a lot higher than doxing and death threats.

My Personal Voltron Season 7 Review

Okay, so I’m seeing a lot of S7 hate and love on here, and I have some opinions of my own, so let’s talk…

(Just so you know, none of my opinions are influenced by which ships did or didn’t get their moment.)

THE BADS:

• First off, I hated the game show episode. Hated it. The only part I liked was the end where they all voted for who should get to leave and gave reasons for it, but then they just cut through a good moment with Keith’s reasoning for picking Lance. Like, totally threw his character development out the window for a jab at Lance, which, ha ha, makes an audience of ten-year-olds laugh I guess. But for older and long-time fans of the show, it just fell short of anything good. The whole episode was full of Lance jabs, too. And Lance has been developing as a character, so I don’t think that was very fair. Here, it’s like the one-sided rivalry all the way back from S1 is back, but this time Keith, the leader, is the petty one. I just really didn’t like that episode. Overall, they were barely in character, character development was completely ignored, and it did not move the plot along What So Ever. Filler episodes were cute in earlier seasons, but this season is the penultimate. There’s sooo many more filler options that could’ve maintained the tone of the season while still being funny and light-hearted.

• Too many new characters. I feel like the writers are digging themselves in a hole here. Don’t get me wrong, I like Romelle, but she’s just… there. In the background. The only scenes where she’s given any screen time are comedic ones, which is great, but she’s just tagging along and the loss of hER ENTIRE CIVILIZATION AND HER BROTHER DYING IN HER ARMS Is never acknowledged. I would’ve liked to have seen a bonding moment between Allura and Romelle, maybe even with Coran. Hell, they could’ve made THAT the filler episode. Aside from Romelle, I feel like they did a good job with Krolia’s character and her bond with Keith, but they haven’t really given us a reason as to why she’s there. What’s her purpose? Too much screen time with too little impact on the plot, in my opinion. Don’t get me started on Acxa. No point. Literally no point. I seriously hope that the writers have plans for her in S8 other than Keith’s love interest. Characters don’t have to fall in love to get closure, but it seems like that might be the “closure” route they’re heading to with Keith and it scares me. It’s such a forced relationship. I don’t mind Keith getting with a girl but shit, at least put him with someone the audience can connect with. A blade member that he fought side-by-side with or something, not “I’m so sorry for being on an evil team, I’m different now” and “don’t you remember how she never wanted to kill him uwu” ugh. Please stop. And I like Griffin’s team, a lot, but I’m not sure what the purpose is of introducing a group of characters with main-character potential with only one season left. Maybe it’s a surprise, or maybe they just did it so the audience could be better invested in the flashbacks about what happened to Earth.

• The??? Fucking getting lost in space??? How? Like, I sort of understand the purpose: Keith’s been separated from the team for a while, and they need to re-establish their bond. However, it seems like Keith’s character development has been ignored again, and he’s reverted back to S1 Keith, which is really annoying. I was rolling my eyes the whole time. Like, I get it, they’re going a little space-crazy, and they’re gonna turn on each other a bit. But it’s like the writers forgot that they aren’t in S1 and S2 anymore, or at least that’s how it felt to me. Angsty Keith, *yawn* been there, done that. He’s an adult now. And their leader. They could’ve gone about re-forging the paladins’ bonds another way. Not to mention, the time-lighting thing was never explained, never made any sense. Oh! And guess what else was ignored? The characters figured out a long freakin time ago that they could call out to their lions for help, did they just forget?

• Shiro and Keith practically don’t interact throughout the entire season, besides ep 1. Again, I kind of get it. They dedicated an entire episode to their bond, last season and this one. I’m not looking for more proof of their bond, but they need to talk about Shiro being dead, Keith fighting his clone, and Keith willingly falling to his death with Shiro. They’ve both got to be traumatized on some level, and it’s not even acknowledged. Like, what are the writers afraid of? Are they afraid that the Sheith shippers will get their hopes up? Are they afraid Klance shippers will get mad? Are they afraid people will get bored of Shiro and Keith interacting? Did they just not have enough time to address it (*cough* game show episode *cough*)? Like, regardless of the reasoning, a lot of shit happened between the two that needs to be talked about. I don’t know and it doesn’t matter if the writers intend for them to be like brothers or best friends or something more, that kind of stuff needs closure. Shiro probably has nightmares about dying/being dead and trying to kill his team. Keith probably has flashbacks of the first person other than his dead father to care about him trying to murder him and saying he should’ve abandoned him. Writers, please, even a thirty second conversation would suffice if it’s done well. They at least need a

“I’m sorry I tried to kill you, Keith.”

“It wasn’t you, Shiro. I’m sorry I didn’t know you were dead.”

“It’s okay, you saved me from that darkness. I thought I was going to be there forever.”

Then they hug and go on their ways. That’s it! That’s the bare minimum. That would’ve sufficed. Shiro’s obviously got some heavy inner monologue, why push it off to S8 or ignore it completely?

• And for my last bad, we have: killing Adam. This isn’t about shipping; I really didn’t care if Shiro and Adam got back together or not. But they deserved closure. Shiro deserves closure. I know Shiro’s the “stoic leader” but he has feelings, and the writers just keep making bad shit happen to him and never address how it’s affected him. Listen, Shiro is an LGBT+ rep regardless of whether he’s in a relationship, as long as he isn’t killed off. But give him some depth. The closest thing to that we’ve gotten so far is knowing that he (used to have?) muscular dystrophy, and seeing his memories of Keith. Other than that, where’s his backstory? His reason for joining the Garrison? His family? How his adventures have affected him mentally? Adam could’ve been the window to all of that, but they killed off an opportunity. If they wanted to highlight the loss of war, they could’ve killed one of Lance’s many family members, or one of Hunk’s; but Adam, as far as we know, was all Shiro had to come back to. He was the only way that they could’ve taken Shiro and made him into a more complex character. Besides that, I don’t think it’s right that they had us anticipating meeting this queer character for nearly an entire season before revealing he’d died. It’s not as bad as when some shows kill off queers, but still… I hope they give Shiro a romantic interest in someone else; queer representation includes healthy queer relationships and happy endings.

Overall for the bads, in my opinion, this is the gist of it: Character development was ignored at times. Some of the writing was lazy. Too many characters/plot point, too little time. Not addressing major issues with characters. And… queerbaiting. You don’t have to agree, but this is my opinion on queerbaiting: it isn’t black and white. Sometimes it’s terrible, sometimes it’s just a little annoying. Voltron killed off a queer character, but he wasn’t a main, and he wasn’t the only queer, and we didn’t know him. On the other hand, he was the only other (confirmed) queer character’s love interest. On a queerbaiting scale of 1-10, I’d call it a 5. Like I said, it’s partly redeemable if they give Shiro another male love interest.

THE GOODS:

• Shiro’s flashbacks of Keith. We’ve been seeing since S1 how much Keith cares about Shiro, and now we finally get a glimpse of Shiro caring about Keith. The “we saved each other” line. The flashbacks paired with Keith’s desperation really cemented that bond that they started showing us in S6, and little Keith was adorable. It was also important to get a little more background on Keith, it tied up all the loose ends from Keith and Krolia’s time in the quantum abyss. Also in ep 1, the humor was top-notch. The writers managed to make comedy out of a dire situation for the paladins, and Romelle seemed to fit in very well! And I find it impressive that shifting back and forth between the funny, light-hearted adventure of the others and the solemn, tense situation in the Black Lion didn’t kill the mood of either plot line. It will come as no surprise to you that ep 1 was my favorite of the season; probably one of my favorites in the series.

• Having Krolia separate from the team. Don’t get me wrong, I love Krolia. She’s a great mom and her relationship with Keith was written perfectly; it checked all the boxes for my hopes when Keith finally met his mother. But she was older and more mature than the paladins; she didn’t fit in. In her heart, she’s a member of the Blade, and she knows she’s more useful to the cause as a spy and fighting alongside Kolivan. I’m glad that they didn’t undercut my love for Krolia by having her awkwardly tagging along. And the writers kicked fragile masculinity’s ass with the goodbye scene between Keith and Krolia. The soft smiles, the “I love you”s, the hugs, and KeiTH GIVING HER HIS BLADE THAT HES HAD SINCE HE WAS A BABY BECAUSE HE KNEW HED SEE HER AGAin those were all wonderful. Everything about the mother/son relationship between Keith and Krolia, from the moment they met to the moment they said goodbye, was perfectly executed. They took their time with it. Kudos to the writers for that.

• Character development. Barring everything I said in the ‘BADS’ because I don’t want to be repetitive, the character development in S7 was phenomenal. We have Lance taking on more leadership responsibilities, stepping up, protecting people he cares about at the risk of his own life, and respecting Keith as the team leader. In this season, I’ve grown to respect Lance a lot (ha) more. And we finally get some background on Hunk, we see him missing his family and home, we see him crying, being frustrated about it. We see him opening up to Keith. Keith, of all people (maybe Keith was the only one who asked). Either way, I love the depth they gave Hunk, and I love the acknowledgement of Keith and Hunk’s friendship, especially after that lost in space scene. And Keith’s character development, omg. It was the best. He was a leader before, but now, he could give Shiro a run for his money. Maybe he already did. The team respects him unhesitatingly. He leads them out of every life-or-death situation on top. He helps them forge a closer bond with their lions than they’ve ever had before, on more than one occasion. And he does something that’s really hard for him, which is asking someone else (Hunk) to open up to him. He offers to listen to his teammate’s worries. His fighting (mostly hand-to-hand combat) skills are clearly the best we’ve seen in the show, right on the same level with Shiro. When he killed that Druid without seeing him I was like 😯, and when hE LAUNCHED OUT AN AIRBORNE LION AND SLICED THROUGH SENDAK LIKE HE WAS NOTHING BECAUSE SHIRO WAS IN DANGER I Was like 😲!!!

• The animation was outstanding. I know the poor animators were busting their asses, especially during those last few episodes. It’s got to be the best animation I’ve seen in the show so far (besides the ‘The Black Paladins’ animation in S6, it sent me into another dimension). In fact, VLD has some of the best animation I’ve ever seen in shows of its kind, and that’s saying something. Those fight scenes get you so immersed, and they’re like a visual orgasm.

• This one is more opinion than anything else, so I’ll keep it short, but I love how they showed the fighting spirit of Earth. How humanity never gives in. I think that’s part of why everyone enjoyed those flashback episodes of Earth so much; the audience felt they could relate to those people, and they felt proud to call themselves human. In the show, while interrogating Sendak’s memories, they asked, “What do you do if a planet refuses to give up?” (Referring to Earth). And Sendak basically says, “We destroy it, but the only planet who’s ever refused to give up is Altea.” And I. Love. That. Time and time again, we’ve been shown how smart and powerful the Alteans were, and now we’re being compared to them. I love the overall way that the writers handled the paladins’ return to Earth. I love the paladins’ interactions with Griffin’s team, I love the Alteans integrating easily with humans, I love humanity’s resilience being showcased, I love the reunions, I love Keith’s interaction with Iverson, and, most of all (some people won’t agree with me on this), I love that humans already knew about aliens and the Galra when Voltron returned. I would have dreaded them having to go through quarantine, and being called crazy, and having to fight against the Garrison, and whatnot. I just love how most of the last few episodes were handled; it was mostly the middle of the season that I had issues with.

Overall for the goods: I liked getting a little insight into how much Shiro cares for Keith. I liked ep 1 a lot. I liked how well they handled everything about Krolia. I liked the character development and background that we FINALLY get throughout the season. The amazing animation. Enough said. And the way the writers wrote Earth, in the flashbacks and in the present.

Overall for the season: I don’t think it completely tanked. I think too much of people’s opinions are based on ships, but I agree that this was not the best season, and it fell short in a lot of areas. It was a little disappointing, but not un-redeemable, and I think everyone who’s saying “fuck Voltron” and swearing to never watch it again is a bit ridiculous and childish, tbh. Disagree if you want, but that’s my opinion and last I checked, I was allowed to have one.

Voltron: An Evaluation(spoilers) pt. 2

If you haven’t read my previous post about all the characters that had died, nearly died, or sacrificed themselves then go read that real quick.

I briefly mentioned relationships but now I’m going to go deeper into it. But can I ask who’s angry? 

I’m not even going to start with allurance. I physically can’t. I feel sick talking about it. But I’ll start off with Shiro being canonically gay and his relationships.tand then I’ll move on to Keith, then Lance, and finally Allura. Maybe some others.

Shiro’s character wasn’t all about him being gay. His character was meant to be a leader and someone that the other paladins could turn to when they needed him. But he is gay. He was the number one LGBT+ rep that we could get out of this show. He is shown kissing another man in the series and that amazing. But let's start from the beginning of the show. Who was the most likely to end up with in season 1? Allura. Shiro is a gay man but there were some things that made Shallura appealing and honestly, it would have been better then what we prepared a=ourselves for endgame two years later. They were both leaders, both struggling to be the leaders that Voltron needed. I’m truly sorry about this ship dying. But their last interaction felt good. You can tell Allura truly cares for him, and Shiro for her. They had development throughout the series. 

Shiro was only likely with two other people before Allura: Keith and Matt.

I’m not a big fan of Sheith but it has some interesting points and if it wasn’t for how sibling coded they were, I’d probably ship it. The main reason I don’t is that throughout the series all Shiro does for Keith is comforting him and lead him in the right direction. They never got the chance to joke around or really see each other away from everyone else. The fight scene between Kuro and Keith was what did it for me. They are brothers. So this ship is out. 

Shatt/Miro is actually something I shipped before Adam. There wasn’t any evidence, I just thought the ship would be nice to see. They were teammates and friends. I love Shiro and his character but he never got the chance to talk to Matt. Kuro did. It was just a nice thing to think about. But it would have been better with Matt, because maybe then Adam wouldn’t have had to die. Maybe then we could have seen development in Shiro in another way, one that we never got to experience.

Then Shadam became a canon thing that happened. I wanted to love this. I wanted to see their relationship develop. In the end, we never saw much. We saw a flashback of Shiro and Adam have a disagreement about Shiro going to space. We got to see Shiro look at Adam’s grave. That was it. That's all we got for them. They could have killed off Adam and still made it impact Shiro. Shiro needed to mourn his ex-fiance’s death. Instead, he was pulled into an endless war.

Overall, I wished he was never in a relationship. I wish they let him mourn Adam like Lance gets to mourn Allura. 

Keith could have literally ended up with anyone: Lance, Acxa, Shiro, Allura, and Veronica. 

Lance was the most likely to end up with Keith. I’m not even going to lie because their romantic coding was flawless and they still didn’t make it happen. It’s Naruto and Sasuke all over again. They start off as rivals and slowly grow their relationship all throughout the series. In the end, they are best friends. I’m willing to accept this. Klance is canon king in our hearts. But the true canon is that they are best friends. I love them because of how well these characters interacted and how their chemistry was so well done. They had real potential.

Keith and Acxa were coded weirdly. They felt as though they were connected. I honestly wouldn’t have minded if they had ended up together. It would have made a little sense. As characters, they helped each other a lot. They had many things in common. They could have been a well-written relationship and I wouldn’t have been mad.

Keith and Shiro. In Shiro’s paragraph I mentioned them being brothers but in this paragraph, I’m going to ignore it and say this is okay. It's a valid ship. I wish there was more evidence for it. 

Keith and Allura were canons in the 80′s show. I’m not saying that has anything to do with endgame but common! I’m glad they didn’t make it happen though. They wouldn’t have ended it well.

Keith and Veronica would have made no sense. I’m just saying, don’t put him with Lance’s sister. Lance doesn’t need that on his conscious. What if it ended badly and then their best friend dynamic would be ruined.

I’m so glad that Keith is single in the end. I’m so upset that they coded him into loving Lance. Because damn this boy loves Lance.

Lance was meant to be with someone all along. Keith, Allura, Nyma, hell maybe even Shiro!

Keith is what makes the most sense. Lance shows concern for Keith more than any other character. He confides in Keith and looks to Keith when he needs help. But when he’s working with Keith he says “we” can fix this. not “you” not “i” but we. And I love that. This isn't even evidenced I’m just saying I miss them. All 8 seasons they were romantically coded. I’m so sorry for this ship.

We knew allurance was most likely to happen. Lance liked Allura since the beginning. Their relationship didn’t develop much. It went from him liking her, then feeling like he loved her, into being rejected. What was the purpose of Allura and Lotor when Lance and Allura were meant to be together all along. I just don’t understand. Lance and Allura were in love in the end, but they were never in love before season 8. They were crushes. I hate this ship more now than before. I loved this shi but now, I can’t take it. They really fucking killed her guys.

Lance and Shiro would have made the tiniest amount of sense. Lance and Shiro had struggled to communicate and talk throughout the whole series. Shiro reaching out for Lance when he was trapped in Black's mind was awful to watch. Lance reaching out back for him. I just can’t handle them. It would have made sense if they had been able to figure it out by ending up together. As if they were soulmates. even if I don’t believe so myself.

Allura was a good, wholesome character. She wasn’t meant to be in a relationship. But she could have ended up with Lance, Keith, Shiro, Hunk, Lotor, or even Romelle.

I’m not saying Allura ending up with Hunk would have made sense but there were times when I shipped it. It wasn’t an awful ship but if they would have been written awfully. 

Allura and Lotor have been through so much together. He fell for Allura. He could have had an amazing arc with Allura at his side. instead distrust and pain took over and he went mad. 

Allura and Romelle could have been amazing together. They are both Altean. They are both beloved characters. They could have connected through so much of Altean culture the way Allura and Lotor did. 

I’m glad she ended up with Lance because they loved each other in the end. I’m mad that they killed her.

I’m glad Hunk and Shay can be happy.

I’m glad Pidge is being her asexual self.

I’m glad Ezor and Zethrid worked it out.

But honestly: Everyone of these characters deserved better.

Letters from Lance Chapter 1

Hey guys, here’s another Klance fan fic. This one is going to be a mini series about Lance writing letters to you about his high school days and feelings for Keith. 

Summary: Lance McClain was told to write letters about his problems after he reunites with his ex, Keith Kogane, during a high school basketball game. The reunion sparks an old flame that Lance desperately wants to put out.

Dear you,

To those of you reading this, hi, my name is Lance McClain. I’m a sixteen year old guy who tweets about his Starbucks runs and takes selfies that use the hashtags natural and no filter. Give me a break. Like I said, I’m sixteen. 

I’m writing to you because Shiro, the counselor at my school who acts like everyone’s dad, said I needed to get some things off my chest. So here goes nothing.

At my school everyone keeps score on how many girls and guys they slept with or basically cheated on throughout the school year. Well me, yeah, just keep this between us, but I’ve never slept with anyone. Girl or guy. It’s embarrassing when you’ve got about twenty guys in the gym locker room tossing around names of who slept with who, while I’m standing there between them trying to keep score of how many exams I failed. Yeah, true story.

I’m not labelled a jock, rebel, nerd, non of those stupid stereotypes the debate team likes to give people. All I am is Lance, the bi high school student who just wants to go home. Hunk, my best friend, always told me it’s better to be original than be in the middle an echo chamber, but I don’t see how he can be right.

The day started in my dorm, as usual. Hunk tinkered with some science experiment, while I lazed on the couch binge watching The Hunger Games with a bag of chips at my side. 

“I can watch this movie a hundred times, and still don’t get why there had to be any romance at all. Bring on the action, man!” I shouted.

My chips flung in Hunk’s direction, raining over him. He sighed. “Lance, even Shiro knows you like shipping the characters. It’s no brainer.”

I pursed my lips and turned off the TV. “Whatever. Romance is so overrated.”

Hunk rolled his eyes. “You do you, man. But can you go for a walk or something?” He turned and leaned his arm over his chair, staring at me. “I’ve got to finish this project Pidge and I have been working on together. It’s already late.”

I sighed and scratched my bedhead. “Sure. Looks boring anyway.”  I tossed on my academy jacket, threw off my pajama bottoms for some slacks and headed for the door.

“Ah, Lance, no shower?” Hunk complained.

“Nah.” I yawned. “It’s a weekend anyway.”

I closed the door before Hunk gave me one of his Importance of Hygiene lectures. 

Outside, the halls were filled with hundreds of high school students who only went to this private academy for, let’s be real, the hippie lifestyle. Sure the academy had rules and whatnot, but many of them wasted their time getting high and dancing around bonfires. 

I pushed passed a few of them, not even bothering to say hello to Allura who like Shiro asked me to write this to you. I jammed my earbuds into my head to muffle out the typical high school sounds and strolled down the halls. 

As the students turned into a tidal wave of hormones I walked into the gymnasium and sat down on the bleachers. Pidge was fixing up the basketball hoop with her brother Matt who looked at her with a proud brotherly face. I sighed thinking about my own family. 

As the song on my phone ended, I saw the basketball team scuffing up the gym floor with their ‘squeaky’ sneakers. The team captain approached Pidge and Matt with an impatient scowl. As he went on complaining like a spoiled brat on Christmas, I gasped. 

My earbuds dangled from my ears. Beside the captain stood Keith Kogane, who only joined the team because he needed some kind of extra credit. And how did I know that exactly? Well Keith...he was...my ex.

I shoved my phone into my back pocket and jumped over the first set of bleachers, failing miserably to hide myself. 

Keith looked over in my direction and raised a brow.

“Lance?”

The team captain stopped talking and spat. “What?”

Keith shook his head. “N...nothing. I’ll be right back.”

Oh God, no! As I pressed against the bleachers, I heard sneakers hurrying over in my direction. My heartbeat drummed. I couldn’t breath. 

The bleachers ‘creaked’. A shadow loomed over me.

“Lance?”

I looked up. Keith gazed at me, confusion painted on his face. He smelt like asphalt, sweat and wet grass. His red and white jersey kept slipping off his shoulder as he tried to catch his breath. He must have gotten back from running laps or dribbling outside. 

I looked away from him. Heat filled my cheeks. “H...hey.”

“What are you doing here?” he asked, his voice low.

I shrugged and hugged my knees into my chest. “I felt like hanging out here ‘cause Hunk’s being a know-it-all right now.”

Keith chuckled. Oh, God it sent chills down my spine. I nuzzled my blushing face into my arms and breathed steadily. My heart drummed louder now, filling my ears. Breathe, Lance, breathe, I told myself.

Keith reached out for me. A sweaty hand on my shoulder. I gasped.

“You should stay for the game then. I’ll, uh, I’ll treat you to some Starbucks or Panera afterwards.”

I shrugged. “Nah.” I stood and shoved my hands into my pockets. “I’ve gotta go and...yeah, I just gotta go.” 

Keith scowled. “Classic.”

I jumped off the bleachers and headed for the back doors. “If I was I’d totally be mocking your baggy jersey. Did you shrink again by any chance?”

Keith ran in front of me. He pressed closer. “We’ve been done for over a year now, Lance. Why can’t we just hang out or do something fun?”

I raised a brow. “Oh, I dunno, maybe because it’s awkward as hell.”

Keith’s teammates called for him.

“Hang on!” He scratched the back of his neck. “Just, let’s talk, okay?”

“Looks like you cut your mullet,” I said, “Finally.”

Keith looked at me, serious and cold. 

“I’m sorry, Keith, but I don’t do this kind of crap. I’ll see you whenever.”

The doors swung behind me. 

“Lance!” I heard Keith shouting.

I booked down the halls, ramming into a few girls who were headed for the basketball game. Without looking I turned the corner and ran into an old storage room. Shutting the door behind me I leaned against the back wall and counted backwards, trying to calm my heart. My eyes welled with tears. I missed him.

In the locker room the next day I hung out with Hunk who kept complimenting everyone about their hard work.

“You’re literally like the Mr. Rodgers of this century, Hunk.”

Hunk beamed. “You really think so?”

“I was jok – never mind.”

Hunk tossed me my deodorant and shut his locker. “You look like you didn’t get any sleep last night. Everything okay?”

“I ran into Keith.”

“Oh.”

I threw on some deodorant and wiped my face with a towel. “He wants to talk.”

“So why don’t you?”

I gave him a look.

“Well it has been a year. And you’re the reason you broke up in the first place.”

I slammed my locker shut and chugged a water bottle. “Yeah, okay.”

“You made out with some girl!”

“Not listening.”

“That’s your problem.”

I shoved the water bottle into Hunk’s chest and sighed. “Just drop it okay?”

He shook the water bottle in my face. “You know how I feel about this.”

I tossed on my uniform, grabbed my bag and headed for the halls. The thought of Keith wouldn’t leave my mind. So much that I kept having dreams about the bastard. The ones that kept waking me up the middle of the night. I hurried over by a water fountain to cool down. Water always calmed my nerves. 

“Guess I’m going to have to stalk you until you fess up and talk to me.”

Wiping my lips I jumped back from the fountain. Keith leaned up against the wall, arms crossed in a cool fashion. I looked away.

“Fine, what do you want?”

Keith sighed. “Ever since yesterday I’ve realized you show up at my games all the time.”

“Don’t flatter yourself.” I blushed.

Keith walked with me. The halls, empty, quiet. His voice echoed as he talked.

“You’ve subconsciously wanted to talk to me ever since the break up.”

“Just leave me alone, Keith. Your voice is giving me heartburn.”

Keith moved closer to me. RING! The bell blared, echoing around us.

“I miss you, Lance,” he whispered.

Though I just drank some water, my lips felt dry. I stared down at him. He looked sad. The bell rang again.

“I have to go,” I said.

Keith nodded. 

I hurried down the halls and somehow ended up in Shiro’s office.

“Ah, Lance. You look – “

“Horrible, I know. Can we talk?”

Shiro nodded. He gave me a piece of paper. “Write it out first.”

I nodded, took a pen and the sheet of paper and wrote:

Operation Klance Con: Day 1

So hey guys, if you’ve been following me for a bit, I have been hinting about this for a bit by now!

My friend Megan, AKA dis_lazy_otaku on Wattpad and I decided to collaborate together and write a Klance/Laith fanfic together as Team Voltron and a few buddies of theirs get to stay on Earth for a couple days and attend that year’s Anime Expo! (This is post-canon, by the way.)

Enjoy Day 1!

Summary: Hunk and Pidge know of Lance and Keith's feelings towards each other, but the Yellow and Green Paladins couldn't do anything to get them to confess to each other. But then, after they defeated Zarkon and came back to Earth for a visit, the paladins got Anime Expo tickets for all four days for the whole team and decided to give their friends a little push.

Or, Team Voltron and and a few friends embrace their inner otaku and cry/ screech about their fandoms. It's better than it sounds.

Chapter 1: Day 1

The hot sun shining over them. All paladins exhausted. Princess Allura and Coran desperately try to assist the paladins in any way they could but whatever they did, they were still losing. Shay tries to find a way to help them but even their allies could not save them. They needed to form Voltron but the lions were separated from them. Keith could not find a way to contact Red and even if he did, Red wouldn't be able to reach him. Their last fight had put Green and Yellow under terrible condition so they wouldn't even be able fly more than 2 miles to them. Blue was captured and Black didn't have a paladin to fly them. their only hope was to form Voltron, but without it- "Coran, I don't think we need to form Voltron just to stand in line for our badges." Pidge states. "Even if Red didn't have a way to reach me.. Red would always find a way.. Always." Keith says fanning himself. "And there is no way in hell would I ever let Blue get captured by anyone other than me!" Lance says crossing his arms. "I'm sure Yellow would be okay, he just has a few scratches here and there. And he probably would like some food to eat. I know I would." Hunk says. "I'm still alive, Coran.." Shiro says awkwardly. Allura sighs and pats shiro on the back.

"Can I get back to the hotel? It's really hot out and a soak in the pool would be nice." Lance says. "Unless you want to lose your spot in line for the badges then sure but since we have to stick together as a group, we can't just leave." Pidge says. Lance groans and takes another sip of water from his water bottle. Pidge groans too because her feet was starting to get sore from all the standing around in line. Eventually Pidge looks  at Hunk and give him a look. She soon texts him her idea and Hunk agrees to cooperate. "You know what, Coran? How about we do form Voltron?" Hunk says with a smile as he puts Pidge up on his shoulders. "Look who's short now!" Pidge says with a smirk as she looked down on Keith and lance. "Oh no you didn't Number 5," Lance says, "Keith! Get on my shoulders!" "What?" Keith says, confused. "You know what, who cares?" Lance says. Lance soon scoops up Keith in his arms and manages to get Keith up on his shoulders. Shiro, being too heavy for Pidge and Keith to carry by themselves and Hunk and Lance to carry all of them decided to try something else. "You know what, how about Coran be the head of Voltron for now?" He asks. "Wait, what?" Pidge says. Soon, Coran was now on Shiro's shoulders. "If only king Alfor could see me now." He says, glowing with happiness. Allura laughs at the sight and gets out a camera that Pidge gave her. She gets in front of them and then takes a picture of the six. As they continued moving forward in line, Hunk and Coran went to the food trucks nearby to get something for them all to eat. Soon they got into separate teams and started playing charades. As they got closer to the entrance, they could hear the dj making remixes and Hunk, Keith, and Lance decided to try a little dance routine as Pidge recorded the whole thing.   After moving further ahead, Pidge, Lance, Keith, and Hunk decided to rest by the stairs while Allura, Coran, and Shiro kept their spot in line. "Hey Pidge, what should we do to pass the time?" Lance asked. "I dunno, maybe help Keith out with the cheer?" Pidge suggested. "Nah, it's pointless. Besides, the way we do the cheer with Keith is official now." Lance says. They think for a moment. "Maybe we should do some sort of bonding exercise?" Hunk suggests. "Like what?" Pidge asks. "How about some sort of imaginary laser tag?" Keith says. They all think for a moment. "Yes, that is genius." Pidge says. "SHIRO! COUNT US OFF FROM TEN!" Lance shouts as he ran off. Shiro chuckles and then counts. "TEN!" Pidge hides in a corner. "NINE!" Keith desperately tries to find a spot that is safe. "EIGHT!" Hunk hides on the other side of the stairs. "SEVEN!" Lance hides behind a wall. "SIX!" Keith think of what he should say when he's supposed to 'shoot' someone. "NUMBER FIVE" Coran shouts. Pidge cringed at the ridiculous nickname. "FOUR!" Allura take out her camera. "THREE!" Keith is running out of time. "TWO!" At one point, Pidge made modifications to her glasses to help her aim better. So she turns them on. "ONE" QUIZNAK! And the games began. Lance gets out from behind the wall and shoots Hunk. "POW POW POW!" "OH NO! YOU'VE GOT ME! GOODBYE CRUEL WORLD!" Hunk says dramatically. "Dude, you still have like 7 lives in this game." Lance says. "Oh right. My bad." Hunk says. "hey! Pay attention to the game!" Pidge shouts. "BACHOO BACHOO BACHOO!" She shouts "Awe come on Pidge!" Lance says as he continues the bad gun sound effects while aiming at Pidge. Pidge laughs as she runs around and gets Hunk next. Soon, the people around them start to stare. Hunk soon goes after Lance but then Lance notices something. "Wait, where's Keith?" He asks. "VOOOOLLTRROOOOOONNNN!!" The Red Paladin screams as he sneaks up from behind Lance and points his finger guns in his back. He takes out his phone and then presses play to a recording which happens to be one of the videos of Zarkon's screaming but in a high pitched, chipmunk voice. The 2 Alteans and 4 paladins stared at the space emo and people around them just stared with pure confusion or amusement. Eventually everyone starts bursting with laughter and Lance places a hand on Keith's shoulder, still laughing. "Oh my god Mullet. That was the best thing ever!" He laughs. Pidge comes down and slaps him on the back, "What the quiznak was that, Keith? AHAHAHA!" Pidge laughs. Hunk comes down and swoops them all up for a big old groups hug. "I just love how we're all bonding together and having a great time." He says. Space Dad looks at them, proud of his little kittens for getting along so well. Eventually the line moves up and Coran calls them back. When they got inside, they got many things like free Crunchyroll bags, posters, magazines, and fans. Eventually they even took pictures of or with some really cool cosplayers. When they got to the exhibit hall, they decided to walk around and buy things. At one point they lost Shiro again so Allura and Coran went looking for him. Pidge was interested in the cosplay or art tech there was for sale, Keith was interested in the cosplay swords and weapons, Hunk took a liking to the food plushies, Lance found some very nice beauty products, Coran stayed at a booth to learn how to draw manga and learn about it, Allura found Shiro and luckily bought a leash to keep him on. They took photos with the props or sets that were around the area, they got posters signed by the creator of the anime or manga that was on the poster, Pidge and Lance almost spent all their money on the games they had for sale but Shiro found a way to stop them. Eventually they passed a photo booth and Keith kinda got drawn to it. "Hey Pidge, what does that thing do?" He asks. Pidge adjusts her glasses and then says, "It's a photo booth. Except this one can take pictures of you in a scene of an anime or manga of your choice. Like there's some Dragon Ball Z scenes, and Fairy Tail scenes, and Yuri on Ice scenes, and-" "I think we get it Pidge." Lance says, "Now let's step inside that booth!" They all stood in line for the booth and Pidge kept on rambling about what scene or anime they should be in when taking pictures in the booth. It's a good thing Shiro knows how to handle his kittens or else it would take years for them to choose what scene they should be in for the photos. "Quiznak, I'm wearing green and there's a green screen all around us." Pidge says. "Who cares, Pidge? Now what scene or anime should we choose." Lance asks. Coran and Allura seemed confused about this strange earth pod, it takes pictures instead of healing people. It was very different from Altea. "Hmmm, let's see... Hunk, blindfold me." Lance said. Hunk took his headband and wrapped it around Lance's eyes so he couldn't see a thing. Lance soon hovers his fingers in front of the screen to choose an anime randomly and then the finger of fate told them they were taking pictures in a Yuri on Ice scene. "Sweet! Yuri on ice!" Pidge says. "I should try cooking some katsudon when we get back to the castle." Hunk says. "What is a Yuri on Ice?" Keith asks. Lance hands back Hunk's headband and he wrapped it around his head again. "Everybody say Voltron!" Lance says as the photo booth was counting off when it would start taking pictures. "VOLTRON!" Everyone says. "Vol..tron?" Keith says after. The first scene was in the hot springs when Yuuri and Victor first met. Lance let his jacket slide off one of his shoulders and gave the camera a seductive look. Allura and Coran got confused and stared at the camera with a small smile. Keith gave Lance a disappointed and disgusted look. Hunk looked around like a lost child. Shiro shielded Pidge's eyes from the Yuuri and naked Victor that was edited at the side of the photo. Allura stepped out of the booth to get some fresh air, it was quite crowded in the booth. The second scene was of Yurio performing Agape. Lance posed like Yurio at the beginning of the choreography. Keith posed like Yuuri performing Eros. Coran, now getting the idea of what he was supposed to do, posed like Makkachin. Hunk and Shiro gave the camera a pose of them smiling like Victor's heart smile. Pidge got to the front of them all and put her hands together as if she was worshipping or praying to the Yurio being edited in the corner of the photo. Coran and Shiro stepped out to find Allura and give the other paladins some time to themselves for pictures. The third scene was when Yuuri got drunk and started having a dance battle or pole dancing with everyone. Lance put his arms around Hunk and Keith while acting drunk and posing a sexy pose. Pidge got some of her money and started throwing it at them like it was some sort of strip club. Keith got pushed to the back where he was giving everyone a wtq (what the quiznak) look. While Yurio was right next to him, making the same face. After that, Hunk decided to leave, giving the others their space and letting Pidge handle the Klance. The fourth scene was of Phichit taking a selfie with the others. The background showed most of the Yuri on Ice characters posing for the selfie so they decided to pretend they were a part of the selfie themselves. Pidge did the glasses thing most anime characters with glasses do, Keith stood next to Yurio who had cat ears and quickly transformed into a galra so it looked like he had cat ears, Lance stood next to Phichit and also made peace sings with him. After that, Keith changed back to a human and Pidge left but before leaving the booth, she pushed Lance onto Keith and then ran out of the booth as fast as she could. At that moment, the picture was taken and the scene that was there was when Victor and Yuuri kissed. Their faces were red and surprised. Their lips only a few inches apart. Keith found himself so lost in Lance's eyes that he didn't even notice when Lance got off of him and apologized. "Uh, sorry for that." Lance says looking away while scratching the back of his neck. Keith looked down with his face all red and said, "Well, it wasn't completely your fault." They stood there for a moment until Allura came in to check on them. "Keith, Lance? Are you going to come out to see the photos this earth pod took?" She asks. Keith and Lance calmed down and then went outside to get their own copy of the photos. Pidge and Hunk gave each other a high five while looking at the last photo. Shiro wasn't too happy to see the photo they took when he left the booth. But since it was their first time back on earth ever since they found the Blue Lion, he decided that he'll keep quiet until after Anime Expo. "Hunk, Princess? Is that you?" A familiar voice said. "Shay! I didn't know that you were here on Earth too!" Hunk says. Pidge and Lance looked at the two with very mischievous faces. They were happy to see that their best friend is finally going to have time to spend alone with his "girlfriend". It turns out that Matt brought Rax and Shay to Anime Expo since Shay wanted to know what other planets were like. They soon joined the groups together and were on their way. Matt and Pidge, being the ones with a Crunchyroll account; demanded that they go get the free Crunchyroll merch. When they got into the room, there was the line for the free bags, the line for the free posters and wristbands, the dj playing music from the soundtracks of many different animes, TV's showing trailers and teasers of different animes, and some props and sets from different animes to take pictures with. Matt and Pidge went in line to get the bags, Shay, Hunk, Shiro, Allura, and Coran took pictures with the sets, Keith, Lance, and Rax looked around the entire room. When Rax saw the Colossal Titan's head he was very confused and surprised. "How could you skin and decapitated a giant creature like this?" he asks. "Don't worry Rax, it's a fake. Besides, the anime this head is from is bad. He like, eats earthlings and breaks down the walls that the earthlings made for protection?" Lance says with an arm wrapped around Rax's shoulder. When they walked over to the dj, a very depressing and familiar song started playing and the paladins fell to the ground, sobbing and making a scene. "Katie?! What's wrong?!" Matt says worried that his little sister has collapsed. "It's just so sad!" she says. Matt listened to the music for a little longer until he realized what anime it came from and then fell to the ground with Katie too. Keith cradled Lance in his arms as they sob while watching the TV. Hunk hugs Shay and she holds him close while patting him on the back. Shiro just stared at the ground intensely like as if he was at a funeral. "Why did she have to die?!" Lance cries. Keith handed him a tissue and just held him closer as they watched the trailer for Your Lie in April. Rax just sat next to them and watched the TV, trying to understand what was wrong. When the trailer was over, Matt, Pidge, and Hunk stood back up. Keith and Lance sighed. 'Finally, it's over,' they thought. "Oh my, who knew that the paladins of Voltron were such cry babies?" an unwanted voice said. Lance looked to the side and glared at the prince. "Lotor?! What the quiznak are you doing here?" he says angrily. Lotor ignored him and faced the Red Paladin who was glaring daggers into Lotor. "It was about time you came out to the universe." He says looking at them. Lance and Keith looked at him for a moment and then themselves to realize what position they were in. They soon went apart, focusing their glares on each other. "Shut your quiznak.." Keith mumbled, with a blush. "You still didn't answer my question!" Lance exclaimed. "Ah yes, after you defeated my father, I decided to travel from planet to planet. My father did conquer most of the known universe but he forbid me from seeing most of it. So I decided to be a traveler and visit earth first!" Lotor says. "Okay but what are you wearing?" Keith asks. "Oh this cosplay? Don't you know the character?" He asks, striking a pose. Lance, Rax, and Keith shook their heads no. Lotor, who was now frowning, face-palmed and said, "I am a Roman general. Or Germania from Hetalia dressed as a Roman general." "Hentai what?" They say at the same time. "Not hentai! It's not Hentai, it's He-ta-li- okay you know what? forget it, My cosplay is far more fabulous than you bitches' cosplay." Lotor says as he storms out with his cape flying behind him. "Lance! Keith! We got our stuff so let's go now. Wait, was that Lotor?" Pidge says looking at Lotor leave the room with his Galra generals making his cape fly with fans and a blow dryer. Allura shook her head at the sight and they soon decided to leave Anime Expo and head back to their hotel. Shay, Rax, and Matt left in their car while the paladins and Alteans went in a van back to the Hotel. Shiro was the driver, Allura sat next to Shiro, Keith and Pidge took the middle seats, Hunk, Coran, and Lance sat in the very back. "Which station should we play?" Shiro asks. "Can we play 106.7?" Keith asks. "Sure" Shiro says. Shiro switched to that radio station and the first song that popped up got Shiro saying, "Oh no" and Keith's Galra ears popping out and perking up. Pidge and Lance smirked and Hunk gave one of his angelic smiles. Pidge took out her phone and started recording. The future is bulletproof The aftermath is secondary It's time to do it now and do it loud "KILLJOYS, MAKE SOME NOISE!" Keith shouts. Keith loudly sings and opens the window of the van and intensely head bangs. Pidge, Lance, and Hunk finds this very amusing and Shiro looks like he's been through hell and back. Much to Shiro's dismay, the three other paladins sang along to the song with Keith. Allura found it strange but since they were bonding and having a good time, she didn't mind. Coran, on the other hand was terrified because during his emo stage, he listened to Altean classical music rather than this music which happens to be very different, loud, and upbeat. "DRUGS, GIMME DRUGS, GIMME DRUGS! I DON'T NEED IT, BUT I'LL SELL WHAT YOU GOT!" Keith screams out the window. "TAKE THE CASH AND I'LL KEEP IT! EIGHT LEGS TO THE WALL!" Lance sings after. "HIT THE GAS, KILL THEM ALL!" Pidge continues. "AND WE CRAWL, AND WE CRAWL, AND WE CRAWL!" The Four paladins sing together. "YOU BE MY DETONATOR!!" Hunk says after. "LOVE, GIMME LOVE, GIMME LOVE! I DON'T NEED IT BUT I'LL TAKE WHAT I WANT FROM YOUR HEART!" Lance sings. "AND I'LL KEEP IT IN A BAG" Hunk sings. "IN A BOX" Keith continues. "PUT AN X ON THE FLOOR!" Pidge sings loudly with Keith. "GIMME MORE, GIMME MORE, GIMME MORE!" They all sing together. Keith sticks his head out the window and shouts, "SHUT UP AND SING IT WITH ME!" "NA NANA NA NANA NA" "FROM MALL SECURITY!" Hunk sings "NA NANA NA NANA NA!" "TO EVERY ENEMY!" Keith continues to head bang while playing an imaginary guitar. "NA NANA NA NANA NA!" Suddenly Matt drives by next to them and opens his window and screams, "WE'RE ON YOUR PROPERTY!" They laugh and then sing, "STANDING IN! VOLTRON FORMATION!!" "NA NANA NA NANA NA" "LET'S BLOW AN ARTERY!" Keith shouts. "NA NANA NA NANA NA" "EAT PLASTIC SURGERY!" Pidge shouts and points at Shiro's arm. "NA NANA NA NANA NA!" "KEEP YOUR APOLOGY!" Lance shouts after "GIVE US MORE DETONATION!" They all shout after. "MORE GIMME MORE, GIMME MORE!" "Oh, let me tell you 'bout the sad man" Pidge sings with her arm on Keith's shoulder, pointing at Shiro. "Shut up and let me see your jazz hands" Lance pops up behind them and shows off his jazz hands "Remember when you were a madman" Hunk says. "Thought you was Batman" Keith replies. "QUIZNAK LIKE A KENNEDY!" Lance and Keith sings. "NA NANA NA NANA NA!" "I THINK WE'D RATHER BE!" Lance and Hunk sings "BURNING YOUR INFORMATION!" Keith shouts after. "NA NANA NA NANA NA!" "LET'S BLOW AN ARTERY!" Lance shouts while making little guns with his fingers. "NA NANA NA NANA NA!" "EAT PLASTIC SURGERY!" Hunk shouts while passing some chili cheese fries he bought at Anime Expo. "NA NANA NA NANA NA!" "KEEP YOUR APOLOGY!" Pidge yells. "GIVE US MORE DETONATION!!" Keith, Lance and Hunk sings. "Come on Shiro! Join us!" Pidge tells Shiro. Shiro sighs, "Fine." The team screams with delight and then Shiro clears his throat and says, "And right here, right now. All the way in Battery City. Little children raise their open, filthy palms. Like tiny daggers up to heaven." Keith pretends that his ceremonial Blade was a guitar and while also singing the notes in the background. "And all the juvee halls, and the Ritalin rats. Ask angels made from neon and quiznaking garbage scream out, 'What will save us?' And the sky opened up." "Everybody wants to change the world" Lance sings. "Everybody wants to change the world" Hunk continues. "But no one, no one wants to die" Keith sings "Wanna try, wanna try, wanna try, WANNA TRY, WANNA TRY, NOW!" They all sing. "I'LL BE YOUR DETONATOR!" Shiro shouts. They all decided to bang their heads with Keith strumming his blade and Lance's bad sound effects. Coran and Allura, finally getting the idea tried to sing what they knew. "NA NANA NA NANA NA NANA NA NA!" "MAKE NO APOLOGY!" Shiro sings and bangs his head as his white hair flies all over the place. "NA NANA NA NANA NA!" "IT'S DEATH OR VICTORY!" Keith shouts with his blade in the air. "NA NANA NA NANA NA!" "ON MY AUTHORITY!" Hunk sings. "CRASH AND BURN!" Lance sings after. "YOUNG AND LOADED!" Pidge continues. "NA NANA NA NANA NA!" "DROP LIKE A BULLET SHELL!" Lance shouts. "NA NANA NA NANA NA!" "DRESS LIKE A SLEEPER CELL!" Hunk, Lance, Pidge, and Keith yell out the window. "NA NANA NA NANA NA" "I'D RATHER GO TO KEITH!" Lance sings. "THAN BE IN ZARKON'S PRISON!" They all sing. "CUT MY HAIR!" Pidge shouts. "GAG AND BORE ME!" Hunk sings! "PULL THIS PIN!" They all sing. "LET THIS WORLD EXPLODE!!" Keith finishes off. After the song was over it switched over to the commercials and everyone in the car started bursting with laughter. It was nice being back on your home planet without having to worry about any aliens coming to ruin the moment by trying to destroy planets. They continued to sing along to other songs and jam out to it as if they were the performers at a concert. When they got to the hotel, Shiro parked the car and they walked in. They got into the elevator and noticed that their room was on one of the higher floors so to pass the time they recreated the elevator scene from the live action of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. They had 3 rooms booked for the 7 of them. Pidge and Keith were in one room, Lance and Hunk in another, and Shiro, Coran, and Allura in another. They refused to let Shiro have his own room because they don't want him to disappear again. After they got settled in, they decided to go eat in the buffet. Hunk liked that very much. Pidge liked that there were peanut butter cookies. Keith liked the spicy foods they were serving. Lance flirted with some girls from across the room and ate lots of cake and fruit. Coran and Allura tried everything Hunk recommended and now Coran understands why they didn't like the paladin lunch he would make them. After eating, they went to the spa that was in there and get foot massages. Standing in line for 5 hours is a pain. Pidge, Allura, and Lance liked it very much cause they styled their hair and gave them facials. Pidge's hair had grown quite a bit so she got a trim. Allura got her hair styled with braids and curls. Lance got his hair styled with some gel (similar style like Jeremy Shada). Shiro just came for the massages. Keith and Hunk liked the treatment very much. It helped relax them a lot. Coran got to try out new styles for his mustache. After the spa, they went back to their rooms but instead of going to their separate rooms they went to Shiro, Allura, and Coran's room. Since there was a couple of more hours left of the day, they decided to binge watch Netflix. Keith wanted to watch The Walking Dead, Allura didn't want to watch Netflix and wanted to see what Steven Universe was, Lance agreed with Allura but he wanted to watch Adventure Time, Pidge wanted to watch Scream, Hunk wanted to watch Monsters University, Shiro wanted to watch Justice League: Crisis on Two Earths, and Coran wanted to watch Trolls. They fought for a bit about which show or movie to watch but eventually Pidge won that battle because of her sassy comebacks. She is the Space Sassmaster of the group. They all watched Scream intensely, trying to figure out who the heck is the killer. "Come on Keith, the killer is obviously Keiran!" Lance argues. "No Lance, it has to be that perverted teacher." Keith says. "Wait, what if the killer is Noah?" Hunk asks. "What?! No Hunk, the killer isn't Noah. Why would he kill Riley then? They liked each other a lot! And they were so cute together why the heck did she have to die?! Besides, he was video chatting with Riley as she was dying and wasn't he in that little shop or something?" Pidge says. "How about Brandon James? Wouldn't he be the killer? I mean lots of horror movies and shows deal with ghosts and stuff so maybe Brandon James actually did come back." Hunk says. "No, this show is way too realistic for that so I don't Brandon James came back." Shiro says. "Wait, come to think of it, they never did find the body so it could be Brandon James but doesn't Keiran give you that weird killer vibe or something? He is the killer, there's no doubt about it." Lance says. "How about you all stay quiet and just keep watching to see who the killer is." Allura says. They all agreed and then continued watching. They never got to finish though because things got too scary and gory. Since they were too spooked to go to sleep, Pidge put on a few Disney movies to help. It seems to have worked because soon, Allura and Hunk fell asleep right on the spot. Soon Coran and Pidge fell asleep. Keith and Lance tried to have a contest to see who would fall asleep first but they never knew who won because they fell asleep at the same time. Shiro, being the last one awake turned off the TV and put blankets over them all. Goodnight little paladins of Voltron.
