Also if the movie in question features someone either being smashed (think the glass coffin scene in SAW, or even the scene in Ready Or Not where the maid dies by being crushed by the elevator, or even Trager's death in Outlast)
or someone exploding (it's fine if like...a grenade explodes and kills them, I'm talking about like...inner explosions mostly. Think the scene at the end of Ready Or Not where they literally just explode and blood is everywhere. Yes Ready Or Not managed to make me have to run to the cinema toilets twice. But exploding dog collars make me uneasy too, like you know the ones in Running Man or Cybercity Oedo)
please tell me. I'm fine if I know about it beforehand and can mentally prepare but if I don't know about it and it just happens it isn't pretty. It's so niche that I tend to forget about it until I accidentally see a scene like that. So um yeah.
Also if you know that a film you're suggesting has on-screen animal death, please say so as well. I'd definitely search for it on Does The Dog Die anyway, but you'll save me a google search if you just tell me. I'll have to find out when exactly the scene happen because I'll need to mute the sound, close my eyes and skip it entirely lmao.
Hey I'm trying to get as many films as I can before New Year's sleepover, if anyone knows any incredibly depressing or will-make-you-stare-at-the-wall-for-hours movies, or good* horror movies, or depressing horror movies, I am more than open to suggestions
*good means either made with genuine love (example: the first SAW movie, or...both? of the Creep movies (I'm pretty sure everyone was shaving fun??? It seems to me like everyone was just having fun. That's important to me.)), or so fucking bad that it somehow becomes good because you just can't stop laughing (example: Malignant. What the fuck was that.)
#my family tends to make fun of me for it lol#like because i have literally no problem with goofyass absurd levels of gore thats in new french extremity movies (think Martyrs)#and slasher movies are good for when my head hurts and i need something 'calming' in the background#but i cant handle a little exploding. a little bit of someone getting compressed. a little bit of animal death#for the record yes i do have nightmares about that one junji ito manga to this day. why do you ask.#genuinely the most terrifying thing i have ever read and not the good kind of terrifying. dont ask me why i did that to myself.#oh yeah. that reminds me. honestly body horror in general is a no for me. i can handle it if its not omnipresent in the movie#but if its always there and i NEED to look at it thats a no-go#like for example I love The Substance absolutely stunning commentary 10/10. however i had to have my eyes closed#for the last 20 or so minutes. like for the whole duration of Elisasue#and I knew what I was getting into. I was aware that thered be a lot of body horror#i was able to withstand everything up until that part but then i went 'ohhhhhhhhhhhhh nope'#for example The Fly is a total no go for me. I saw it when I was like 15 and i am glad that i dont remember anything#for some reason this does not apply to The Thing specifically. i have no problem with The Thing except for the scene with the dogs#cant watch that. but otherwise its fine. somehow.
