@mathlann
thank you so much for asking!! loved getting into my weird build shenanigans so far
What led to the Knight-Commander picking their archetype, or staying the standard class?
it's not something I've put a whole lot of thought into for any of them. i just kind of picked what looked interesting to me.
Which class features would particularly stand out with them - Rage, Channel Positive/Negative Energy, Animal Companions, etc.?
Has to be Swift Tactician for Tamarie, even though Life Bonding Friendship makes it obsolete, sharing the teamwork feats in general is pretty huge.
Cernan's Thing has to be the sacred weapon enhancements, brilliant energy is always nice to have in the later game.
does arcane bolt count as a class feature. it was pretty nice to have in act 1 i guess?
How does their ancestry (race) play into their class and mythic path - do they overlap, or what dynamic is created from that combination?
honestly? not something i gave any conscious thought to for any of them, which is a little funny to me because i think in general tiefling demon is one of the more Basic picks you could go for, but any of that went out the window when my brain said "horns pretty", and my brain was right.
In your story, does the Knight-Commander consciously choose their mythic path at Drezen, or was it thrust upon them by their actions or some other outside force?
definitely a conscious choice for all of them, i feel like its kind of important to each of their vibes that they could've gone with something else but chose not to. tamarie avoided a doomer lich arc by a hair tbh
Do they overlap with a party member in role or narrative presence, and if so how do they contrast from said party member?
Tamarie obviously has the narrative overlap with Arue, but that's important because when narratives overlap its basically like they're kissing.
Cernan overlaps with Sosiel in that I almost always respec Sosiel into warpriest, so for their run i had to make the groundbreaking decision to keep him as a cleric.
Mordren ended up benching Nenio 99% of the time, in combat she just ended up feeling worth like. 2 or 3 Nenios by herself, even respeccing nenio into magic deceiver didn't do a whole lot to help because by that point Demon Fuckery gave me way better spell DCs than anything i could set up on Nenio. Woljif also got benched pretty often, but I ended up doing some neat things with him in act 5 with the Arcane Trickster capstone, Aspect of Nocticula, speccing him into crossbows and fire and/or ray spells, and some gloves that give enemies a fire vulnerability on getting hit with a sneak attack.
