#turns out the friend doesn't have his trial starting til march of 2020. also he appeared in court yesterday in civilian clothes and he looks#like absolute HELL. like obviously he's (probably?) withdrawing from a bunch of p hard drugs or something. i'd assume?#and he is in jail so like. he ain't gonna look pristine. but wowza.#guess i'll just...move on with my life and check the news in a year. huh. feelsweird#still wish i could contact his parents and just be like...sorry your son went down this path and didn't or couldn't get the help#sorry that retroactive love and concern can't save the world or even one person#like theoretically i could run into any one of them back home because small towns + such. and i would want so badly to be like#he mattered to me way back then. he still matters in the way that old friends can still matter.#and your family has been on my mind for months now because even though you didn't know me too well i've always had so much admiration for yo#just because your son was an important friend to me and you seemed so nice if a bit too perfect and thus a tad intimidating#how does a person approach a situation like that when they likely don't know who tf I am?#like i had been at their house a time or two because we all hung out and they were close to the church. and i was#like super involved at the church for a while so it's not like iwasn't *visible* per se#but they weren't church adults/parents i talked to much#idk man it's all messy and everyone's stopped being so openly tortured about it. but who knows how we're all REALLY handling it
