The closest thing I get to deconstructing my internalized homophobia is defending Green Day to my parents even though I also don't really like Green Day
#do i enjoy the pop punk style of music#not really#no reason its not bad i just never got into it#same with emo#but like the green day hate bandwagon is just homophobia#like 90% of the time theres a bunch of other comercial 90s 'punk bands' that people like#while simultaneously shitting on green day and its always something to the effect of#'theyre whiny' or 'theyre lame'#so are like most popular bands from the 90s#you just dont like them because they were openly not dicks to gay people#like I'd prefer to listen to crossover thrash but I can at least admit that thats partially rooted in my own fear of apearing weak#which is something Ive been trying to actively deconstruct
