Od tego momentu przeszliśmy długą drogę, ale wciąż mamy jeszcze wiele do zrobienia. Actually I need to rant about something. Hold on.

It’s extremely pointless to say stuff like “mspec lesbians defeat the whole purpose of labels!” because. Read that again. “The whole purpose of labels.”

The whole purpose of labels in the queer community was NOT to put people in neat little boxes! It was to be able to put your experience into words, and to try to dictate labels is to hurt people more than it helps.-

It’s what our original oppressors tried to do. When lgbt infighting occurs, when people exclude and berate people for daring to use two labels, or a different label, or BY GOD have a “weird” identity, YOU’RE HURTING QUEER PEOPLE. THAT WAS THE WHOLE GOAL OF QUEERPHOBES.

This happened with bisexuals. This happened with ace and aro people. Pan people. Trans people. And now it’s happening with mspec gays and lesbians, JUST BECAUSE- *gasp!* they DARED to use TWO labels at once! Oh no! How scary! .Do you see how fucking STUPID that is?

The queer community is diverse, and beautiful, and to try and shuffle people into little boxes, or to say they’re something they’re not, or to try and force them to use labels that don’t fit them? That’s… what is WRONG with you?

The original, ROOT meaning of queer meant “weird.” To exclude and hurt people for being a “weird” identity, using “weird” labels to define themselves is hurting everyone. And the queer community already faces enough bigotry from non queers. Why do we need it from the inside?

So… this brings me back to my original point. “Using bi and lesbian together defeats the whole purpose of labels.” Labels in the queer community were not supposed to be used to just. Push people into little boxes and force them to use terms that don’t fit their experience.

They were meant for people to find comfort in. And if someone finds comfort in using the terms “bisexual” and “lesbian” together, then why take that comfort away? Why stick them with a label that forces them to conform to “normal” queer standards? It just feels hypocritical-

And hurtful. If you’re thinking about acting like bi lesbians don’t exist and that “they should just use sapphic,” re-read the damn thread, and think: Would you want someone to make you use a different label that doesn’t fit?

Say for example, you were a lesbian, and you happened to… I don’t know. Like a fictional guy? You would be PISSED if someone came up to you and said “Um, actually, you’re bisexual. Use bisexual instead,” RIGHT? Or if you happened to be a girl and use he/him!-

You would be PISSED if someone tried to make you use she/her instead “because you’re a girl” or say that “CLEARLY” you’re a boy! So. Leave people be. Accept that other identities exist. And for the love of God- shut up. 🧵 END OF THREAD🧵
