Erwin's Sister!Reader x Levi
Erwin with a sister who joined the scouts, and eventually gets engaged with Levi ;D (Note: 3 year age gap)
TW: Scouts bullying reader mentions that get physical in Erwin's section.
Tumblr media
Erwin
Being Erwin's sister was not a easy task!
Erwin's parents had always taught him to take care of you, as it was his duty to protect his little sister from harm, and he took that job seriously
So when he had heard that you wanted to join the military he internally lost his shit.
"Perhaps you should reconsider." He'd smile, giving you a light pat on the shoulder "Because there's absolutely no way that I'm letting you join."
In the end you did!
With many conversations turning into arguments he caved in with a frustrated sigh.
By the time you graduated and joined the scouts Erwin had already became the commander.
Rumors were quick to spread of Erwin's little sister joining the scouts, and a lot were skeptical of her.
A lot of people tested your patience..
"Sorry Y/N, the spots already taken!" When no one had arrived to sit on the seat for the entirety of lunch or
"Sorry we forgot to leave some for you!" As the women would giggle amongst themself hiding extra packs of the rations behind there backs
Of course you never reacted to there bullying but it sure did frustrate the hell out of it. You knew what they wanted, and it was for you to run back crying to your brother for help.
You weren't gonna give them that satisfaction!
So you trained hard, harder then anyone else to prove that you deserved respect, and that you didn't need to use Erwin to hand everything to you.
It also served as a good distraction to people who approached with ill intent
Erwin of course knew everything that was going on, he had a conversation with you about it but you insisted for him to lay back. You didn't wanna risk rumors spreading of him being bias.
Though when things got rough, and expeditions were risker then ever, Erwin couldn't help himself.
If you got grabbed he'd dive into hordes of titans just to get you, losing you would make him go insane, and when it came to your safety, his dreams, and public image quickly became the least of his priorities.
The day the bullying became too physical he happened to pass by the room with Levi trailing behind.
Hearing your cries, and the sound of there boots kicking into your body, made his heart drop.
These were one of the times in which he got genuinely pissed off.
Slamming the door open, and stomping over, he quickly picked you up from the floor, giving the group a ominous look.
"You stay right where you are." He'd glare carrying you bridal to the infirmary
When he came back to the room the sound of his angered voice echoed throughout the HQ, and ultimately the group left the military after being put through grueling weeks of none stop physical training. (led by Levi himself!)
Well moral of the story Erwin tries his best to keep those professional boundaries, but when it comes to your life he'd do anything to protect it.

Levi (3 year age gap, reader started the military late)
Oh boy.. Here we go!
Erwin would've never expected for Levi to be interested in his sister.
But here we were, behind a building where no one could see, the wind blowing strands of your hair forward, getting all over your face. Levi gently brushed the strands behind your ear, his touch lingering for far too long to be considered as a friends innocent touch. "Levi?.." You spoke in a hushed voice. He couldn't help but stare at your pumped opened lips, leaning in and-
"Huh- WHATTTTT"
Well, Erwin ran into the two of you... He was as frozen as a statue with his eyes wide, and his mouth stuck in the shape of a O.
I think he might've even forgotten how to breathe
The up-coming days between Erwin, Levi, and you became extremely awkward.
Erwin didn't have the heart in him to ask about the situation, Levi didn't give two shits, and you were scared of Erwin being mad at you.
Though this wouldn't be the last time Erwin would walk into the two of you flirting.
This would happen 3 different times.. Catching the two of you kissing in the office, catching the two of you holding hands, and last of all catching the Levi having an emotional moment hugging you.
Erwin was absolutely MISERABLE, it wasn't the fact that he didn't like the idea of Levi dating his sister because Erwin trusted him, BUT it was the fact that he ran into personal situations he had rather not have seen.
poor dude...
Well anyways... When the day had come that Levi asked Erwin for his blessing for marriage, Erwin once again froze.
After he was done melting though, he casted his eyes downward, his lips curving upwards into a small proud but sad smile. It was hard giving his beloved sister away, but he was sure he'd make her happier then she's ever been.
"Treat her well ok?" His once clear and strong voice begun to crack, patting Levi on the shoulder.
man.. Erwin foreva...

What if…
Fem!Reader (Isabel Magnolia’s sister) x Levi Ackerman in a secret affair.
Not a full day goes by before Levi makes his way into the clinic again, locking the door behind him as soon as he gets in. Like a man on a mission, set on what he wants — the only way he knows how to live, an intensity that consumes you entirely. You turn to look at him from where you’re standing in front of the desk, frowning while he approaches.
“I wasn’t expecting you today,” you’re cut short and breathless when he reaches you, picking you up and landing you on the table in a swift movement. You hear the sound of objects tumbling to the ground, impatient hands moving them away. There’s not even time to giggle before his lips are covering yours, soft and wet and demanding, but you smile against them nevertheless. “What about Furlan and Isabel?”
“I told them I’d meet them at the apartment later, and that I needed to clear my head or another dumb excuse,” he breathes close to your mouth, closed eyes, hiding the heat that lives within them for this short instant.
You nod and sigh, already crumbling under his hands so easily. There are many things you know by now, about his body as well as your own, all the different ways desire and pleasure can be dragged out and brought to completion. Still, there are some things about the nature of this that you can’t quite figure out, which maybe attests to your lack of experience beyond him: are you supposed to feel your pulse quicken from the sight of him only? Sense his presence like a shift in atmosphere, engulfed by the scent of him from afar? Be consumed by the familiar tugging in your lower abdomen and have heat spreading through your center even before his touch has reached you? Could any man make you feel this way, if not Levi?
It’s been months of this, quick escapades between patients and robberies, secret sessions of stolen kisses and undercover sighs. You’re used to his impatience, the urge he has to reach out and touch after days of carefully crafted indifference. He was never one for physical contact, and you suppose you weren’t, either. You wonder why it feels different, now: is this only the effect that life-long deprivation can cause in people? Is that why you feel addicted to it, while he looks restless and even greedy every time you do this? In spite of your own natures, closeness calls to you, as if you’ve only recently found out that you’ve been starving from the lack of it.
Whatever it may be that causes this, you like it. You like it too much , a scorning voice appears to whisper in your ear. Its insistence makes you pull away, also halting his crumpling hands over your shirt at the sides of your body. It’s only then that you’re able to take a good look at his face, the slight furrowing of his forehead that indicates he’s upset about something.
“Elric withdrew from the deal again, the bastard,” he explains before you even ask. “He said it’s become too risky to conduct business with us, because of those idiots from the Military Police that have been on our asses. As if they’ll ever even come close,” he scoffs. While he speaks, your fingers drift from his nape to the sides of his neck, unconsciously trying to soothe him. You think he likes that — one more idiosyncrasy in your arrangement —, but you never really asked.
That’s a big issue, because Elric is an important client with enough purchasing power to push you closer to the surface with each successful business. His withdrawal is a tough setback, and it also means less money to afford the high-end medicines that Yan requires. Levi has every reason to be disappointed.
He leans in again, making his intentions clear. No more talking . This is what he does: he’s upset, he comes here. He’s particularly satisfied about a deal, he comes here. He’s not feeling anything at all, just drifting through the day and trying to find something to take him out of his numbness, his footsteps lead him to this same awaiting place with open arms and legs. This will never not be a mystery to you: why does he do it? Is it boredom, routine, distraction? And why do you keep letting him in? You can pretend not to know the answer to this last question, even though the truth of it has become increasingly hard to ignore.
His kisses become more pressing, hands working to open the buttons of your shirt, lips falling to your neck — good . He mumbles against your skin, finger drifting to draw patterns on the patches of your body he skillfully exposes. There’s a drunkenness to him that only becomes evident in moments such as these, which makes you think he actually likes this as much as you do. There’s lust in his stance, but also care — right?
You sigh and try to keep up, but the rushing thoughts slow your movements. It’s not that you’re starting to question this; it has more to do with the fact that you haven’t questioned this at all, ever since it started. Things just happened and kept on happening, and you told yourself that it was enough to go with the flow, just following wherever it would lead you. You don’t know what changed, exactly, but something seems to have, as the strong pounding of your chest every time he walks in would indicate; or the way you’ve been struggling to keep your hands to yourself in front of Isabel and Furlan, now, having to be extra careful not to let your excitement show when Levi’s fingers graze your skin or when Levi’s eyes flicker across the room to find yours.
“Aren’t you afraid Furlan will figure it out at this rate? He did say he’s onto us,” you recall the vow Furlan swore to see through only yesterday, trying to sound playful, both arms around Levi’s shoulders. Still holding him close in spite of your unexpected, spiraling doubts, legs opening to accommodate his body. He sighs and rests his forehead over your shoulder, leaning both hands on each side of you over the table. Sensing your hesitancy; frustrated about it? He raises his head to look at a spot beyond you, and you want to kiss his cheek. But you refrain yourself from doing it, because that would be purely affectionate, not at all seductive. Would he like it?
“It took months for him to even start suspecting,” he huffs. He seems tired, as the marks under his eyes would suggest. And he came here. Your heart aches inexplicably just from the sight of him, a disgruntling sensation. “At this rate, we’ll find our ways to the surface long before his slow head figures it out”.
And would that be so bad? , you bite your tongue before you say it. Not telling seemed to make sense when this abruptly started. It was never a decision, but something you ended up rolling along with, since it was easier to just keep it between you than to try to explain — hey, we’re casually fucking, is that cool with you?
But time passed — months that seem to hold the same worth of decades. Isabel is not a training girl Levi and Furlan took in anymore, but a steady part of the gang. And you’re not simply Isabel’s sister, but a close addition to the group and a constant part of their plans and ideas. You can’t see yourself parting ways with them, the closest to family you think you’ll ever get. None of you ever dared say the word to each other, almost afraid to jinx it; but it’s true.
So you want to say something about it, but you don’t know what . It’s been a thrilling secret, and maybe you should feel satisfied with that. But you want more , and you’re afraid he’ll keep getting comfortable with less , until whatever this is will just fade into nothing.
“I’m sorry for the deal,” you whisper instead, trying to remind yourself of why he’s here , convince yourself of a satisfying reason. It’s not just sex, but the comfort that exists in it. Deep down, he must know you understand , and that you’re someone he can share his frustrations with — which has happened time and time again, in the form of disgruntled, scattered admissions. You know him, and he knows you; that’s enough, or it has to be.
He doesn’t respond, but his eyes soften, his hand raising to hold your cheek in a way that is almost tender. When he kisses you again, you can feel the vibration of a hum pouring into your tongue, low and sultry, reaching out to spread through your whole body. Languidness takes over the previous rush, your hands bringing his face even closer, wanting to exist in the way your mouths meld together. He bites your bottom lip hard and licks it within a heartbeat, blurring the line between pain and pleasure until you’re unable to tell them apart. Unable to recognize your own voice, needy and breathy, whimpering his name in half agony, half rapture.
His left hand continues to cradle your face affectionately — you can tell yourself that —, tongue meeting yours in a slow dance. Your fingers dig into his hair, then wander down to feel the expanse of his chest, the shape of his muscles, almost cut-open and bleeding from the sharpness they meet in every corner of him. From the ethereal contour of his face to the honed sturdiness of his body, all of him seems to rip you apart and exposed, an incredibly gentle experience in spite of the deadliness. His hands are soft where they touch you, intent and so warm, drifting to rest on your thighs. Kneading, coaxing, thumbs circling the sensitive region of your lap until you’re dizzy and panting with want.
Your shirt is already half open from his previous efforts, enough of your cleavage showing for his eyes to get caught in it, simultaneously glinting and darkening with lust. He kisses his way down your throat and collarbone, his rhythm building into what it was before, desperate and hungry while he ravages your skin and leaves hidden marks on his wake. You almost cry out when his fingers graze your center, at the same time his lips close around your pebbled nipple over your thin undershirt.
So good , you can hear him mutter from time to time, nodding your head in earnest. He’s not much of a talker when you do this, but his occasional words of encouragement and appreciation are enough to make your insides melt. This is good , your mind repeats in a loop, too damn good , your shirt finally falling all the way down from your shoulder while you work to undo the buttons of his, completely intoxicated in him. His scent, the sweep of his tongue against your lips, the flexing of his arms when they pull you impossibly closer. You have all of this memorized by now, even if it feels new in every repetition.
You’re unraveling with every one of his low groans, the spark in his eyes raising too big of a fire that licks you inside and out, an exquisite burning. This is good , and you know him, don’t you? You know the effect he has on your body, the lowness of his voice, the bite of his clever statements as well as the softness hidden behind the harsh way in which he sometimes delivers his words. But you also know why he holds teacups from the top instead of the handle, the story of how hot liquid stained his clothes and scorched his skin when the delicate china snapped, making him too wary to trust it again. You know how he and Furlan met, the kind of childish alliance that only neglected kids can find in each other, growing into an unbreakable fellowship with every passing week, for years, now. You know that he hates his birthday and the way that it coincides with Christmas, reminding him of the kind of homely celebration he will never experience. The smell of death and the ache in his stomach at the small room he was confined to when too little to escape it, as well as the second desertion he was met with in his life when mysterious eyes turned his back on him for the last time.
You bury your head in the crook of his neck and sigh, letting the feeling of his hands on your breasts take over you completely, the familiarity of it all. The dangerous, delicious familiarity.

Modern Punk/Emo Levi would be so goddamn good at applying his own eyeliner. His hands are just so steady and precise, but he's also so goddamn picky about the brand he uses.
Imagine him doing your makeup for you. Either you asked for assistance, or he offered, either way he's always happy to be of assistance, even if he half-heartedly complains about it at first. Dressed in his usual with torn black skinny jeans hugging his legs and an old, faded black band shirt adorning his upper body. The rebellious spirit within him is evident, showcased by the spiked bracelets that encircle his wrists, the dark chains dangling from his hip, and the faded black nail polish adorning his fingers.
His eyes, already mesmerizing, are further accentuated with a dark charcoal tint, adding an extra edge to his gaze. In those intimate moments, Levi’s eyes remain intense and focused, conveying his unwavering attention to detail. With your chin held delicately between his finger and thumb, he angles you precisely, ensuring the perfect application of makeup. The brush of his fingers against your skin ignites a spark of trust and intimacy that lingers in the air.
As he works diligently, you can’t help but be captivated by the soft look that shines through his eyes. It’s a look that speaks volumes, expressing his genuine belief that you’re already perfect just the way you are, even without any makeup. He reminds you of this with gentle words, letting you know that your natural beauty is unparalleled.
Yet, he still eagerly serves and showcases his skill, not out of a need to enhance your appearance, but as an opportunity to express his deep love and admiration for you. Each stroke of the brush, each line he creates, is infused with his devotion. It’s not just about the makeup; it’s a gesture that reflects the depth of his feelings.
In these moments, time seems to slow down, and the world fades into the background, leaving only the two of you in a bubble of affection and connection. Levi gently chastises you any time you move or flinch, not meaning to criticize you, but rather to ensure that every line is precise and symmetrical, a reflection of his commitment to perfection in his art.
He's so close, pressed between your thighs and leaning into your face. It makes your heart throb. His gentle touch and the unspoken declarations in his eyes reveal the tenderness and affection he holds for you. It’s in these soft, little moments that you’re reminded of just how deeply he cares.

Hey writer can you please do a headcanon of levi and his little sister being casual siblings
Sure thing!
This is the first request I've ever done, I usually don't post my work so this is the first of its kind.
This is also gender neutral! I hope you enjoy, anon!
Edit: requests are closed.
Being Casual Siblings with Levi
• First off, Levi's several years older so you and he are on completely different wavelengths
• Not to say you aren't close, but just that he doesn't understand the younger crowd and vice-versa
• Which is fine, because you respect each other either way
• For instance, Levi doesn't know why you hang around Connie and Jean of all people
• Or steal meat with Sasha (which, yes, he has caught you on, multiple times)
• But he knows the lives you lead are taxing, so he lets you off with a warning
• Levi keeps tabs on you. He always knows where you are
• Every day you stroll into his office when he's working just to bother him
• Constant threats for stable duty (once he went through with it)
• Sometimes he lets you have his food, which is way better than the stuff they serve cadets
• Levi gives you a nickname based on a defining trait of yours, i.e "shorty", but his favorite is "shitty face"
• When another cadet is pissing you off, you tell Levi
• He pats your head when you're feeling down

HE'S A CHANGER | LEVI SISTER X EREN
Tw: sexual assault, drug use, and violence
————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————————
It was safe to say Levi regretted a lot of things in his life, not protecting you was one of them.
Everyone told him it was wrong to blame himself, “how could you know what he was doing to her” people would say trying to comfort him but that never worked.
He still beat himself up over it. Telling himself he should’ve seen the signs he remembered when you would come out of that man’s room and be so pale. How your legs were always bruised. How you didn’t want to eat and mom would cry from the amount of weight you lost. She was sick herself but the fact her little girl wasn’t eating made her feel as though she was failing you somehow.
Everybody thought the way you acted was because of mom’s sickness. Even though you were young you had always been able to understand things so they all just ran with that.
It wasn’t until Levi walked in on that man on top of you that they realized it wasn’t the case. The way his world crumbled. The way he saw the man who was supposed to love them, care for them, the man who created them hurting his little sister.
He blacked out and when he came back to his senses the man was gone and you were sitting in a corner scared for your life while mother tried to get some information on what happened but you weren’t speaking.
It took Levi getting in front of your face demanding you tell her that made you finally speak.
You broke down and confessed that it had been going on for awhile and he threatened to hurt you all if you told.
Mom went completely pale and Levi looked furious asking, “where is he” before he even thought about comforting his baby sister. It’s not like he didn’t want to, he just wanted the bastard that hurt her to be dealt with before anything.
“He ran out Levi” your mother said,
Levi still wasn’t satisfied with that but he vowed that he’d handle him if he ever saw him again since that’s all 10 year old him could do.
After that day not much changed other than that man’s presence was gone, the marks he left on you were still evident though. You had nightmares every night and could barely sleep because of him.
You didn’t really socialize with your family, You still didn’t eat much and you only spoke when spoken to and even then everything you said was brief.
Your mothers health improved a lot but her emotions on everything were the same. Anytime she thought about it she would immediately get sick to her stomach or feel light headed. She also blamed herself, even though she could barely leave her room at the time.
She thought it was her sickness that caused all of this. She would think things like, “if my medicines and hospital equipment didn’t fill up the room he would’ve had no reason to go into another room in the first place.” Or, “if I wasn’t sick I could’ve been there for him physically and he would’ve never hurt her” and so much more. Levi tried to tell her that he was just a sick man and would’ve done it anyway but she didn’t change her mind.
When you entered high school Levi was a sophomore and he was very worried. Even though he had only been in high school a year he had seen how easy it was for people to get negatively influenced and he didn’t want that to be you especially when it came to drugs. He knew how bad you were doing mentally and he knew how many people used drugs as a way to escape that reality he hoped so desperately he could prevent that, he started by trying to build a relationship with you again but that didn’t work so he just tried to keep a close eye on you.
But when he hit his junior year and videos of his sister doing drugs and gaining the nickname ‘school slut’ were going around he knew that keeping his eye on you didn’t work.
He tried to talk to you about this behavior but he couldn’t get through to you. It actually made you avoid him even more than you normally would.
So he took a different approach. He would wait till you left to go in your room and throw away all the drugs and clean it up a bit.
That only made you angry and caused you to just invite your flings over so you didn’t have to leave your room and hide your drugs.
Your mom was happy you were bringing friends over even though something in her heart told her bringing a new “friend” over everyday and never seeing them again wasn’t right but after all you’ve been through she would hate to upset you by falsely accusing you of something so degrading so she minded her business.
That is until Levi felt like he had no other choice of helping you then to go to your mom. He told her everything and boy did she give you a mouthful.
She said a lot that’s for sure but the tip of the iceberg for you was her telling you that you couldn’t keep disrespecting your body and doing things because of ‘the incident’.
Levi knew that was a bit too far.
You lost your shit. Telling them both how you truly felt. How you felt that no one helped you through it and how no one ever made you feel like it wasn’t your fault. You felt as though everyone blamed you for the reason the family broke up and why no one was happy.
Of course you didn’t know it was because every single one of you had blamed yourselfs but since no one ever bothered to bring it up in front of you in fear you would be extremely uncomfortable. How could you?
Your mom sat down and put her head down on the table knowing she had messed up big time.
You ran up to your room and began to sob.
Levi ran after you seeing you sit on your bed and he went to hug you. He wasn’t very affectionate but after hearing what you said he knew you needed this. “It’s not your fault. It’s not your fault. It’s not your fault” he repeated hearing your sobs but it didn’t help. “I’m sorry if I made you feel that way n/n. I love you” Levi kissed your forehead.
Your sobs had stopped listening to him speak, “you didn’t deserve that. You were a kid, nothing that happened was your fault n/n. Mom didn’t mean to hurt you, she loves you too. We just want better for you” Levi pulled away to see you just staring at him with a numb facial expression.
He gave you another kiss on the forehead, “I’m on your side I’ve always been” he said and walked away to check on your mom.
After that night everything got weird. You didn’t speak at all and returned to all your old habits, sleeping around, going to parties and doing drugs.
Levi and your mom asked you how you felt about therapy but that only made you not come back home for almost a month making both Levi and your mom so stressed.
Levi thought you were a lost cause.
That is until him,
He had you caring about your school grades, eating food, looking happier and he made you look like you were glowing.
Levi wanted to know who this man was but didn’t want to intrude on you. He heard you talking to him on the phone and couldn’t help but hear how happy you were to discuss a school project with him and how you guys were guaranteed an A.
He chuckled at how nerdy you were being and went back to doing his own homework.
A few hours later while he was laying in my bed he heard a knock on his door. He assumed it was his mom and said to come in but what he didn’t expect was a crying y/n to come sit on his bed. “What’s the matter?” He immediately got concerned, making her laugh.
“Nothing” you smiled, “I came in here to say I’m sorry but also thank you.” Out of nowhere you hugged him, “I know I haven’t been easiest to deal with but I really appreciated that you looked after me during everything. It means so much”. You and mom must have been going through it” you whipped your face, “but I promise I’m alright now” with that you left the room leaving Levi shocked.
You headed to your moms room to issue an apology making her also shocked but the fact you willingly hugged her was enough to send her crying and telling you how much she loved you and never meant to hurt you.
The next day you helped your mom set up for dinner and Levi was confused on why you sat down 4 plates.
While you and your mom were in the kitchen finishing up dinner the doorbell rang, “Levi get the door” you said and he did.
Standing at the door was a tall brown haired man with green eyes who looked like he didn’t know what a trim was with flowers in his hand, “Hi my name's Eren” he said nervously. You came to the door to greet him
“Hi Ren!” You invited him in, taking the flowers while Levi still just looked at him. Even when he sat down his Eyes never left Eren, “The food is almost done!”
Eren and Levi were stuck looking at each other while you went back to the kitchen, “who are you” Levi said coldly
“Im-“ Eren was cut off as you and your mom made plates and sat down.
“He’s my boyfriend Levi and don’t be so rude to him” you said confidently making Levi gulp.
He was starting to recognize Erens voice. He was the guy you we’re always laughing on the phone with.
Levi still kept a basic face expression and ate his food. He heard Eren, you and mom talking but didn’t try to intervene.
“So Eren tell me about yourself” your mom said,
“Well I’m from Shiganshina, I moved here about 3 months ago,-“ you cut him off because he was struggling to find something to say about himself,
“Oh he wants to be a social worker!” You look at him with so much admiration. That was probably one of your favorite facts about him, you loved that he cared.
“Oh is that so” Levi said while eating his food. You were surprised he finally talked but what was more surprising is that he actually seemed interested,
“Yeah! Uh when my mom died my dad had left us for his hometown and my big brother wasn’t stable enough to care for me on his own. I had to be in the system until I was 16 until he was stable enough for me.”
“I’m so sorry” your mom said with a frown tugging at her lips. Levi kept the same facial expression and although to an outsider it looked as though he didn’t care you knew him better than that and hoped Eren didn’t read too much into it.
“No don't be, I found love for many things there! I met my best friend who also introduced me to y/n” he held your hand under the table,
Your mom couldn’t help but smile and Levi just sipped his drink,
Eren continued talking about himself and everyone listened to him, he talked about a lot of things he had to deal with and how far he’s come which inspired you a lot to heal as well, it didn’t take long for Levi to realize this either but in a way it made him happy. You didn’t get better for a guy, you saw go through trauma and heal and you decided to do the same and everything about that made him happy,
When everyone was done eating Levi got up and cleaned and Eren got up and helped him, Eren scrapped the dishes and put up the leftovers and Levi washed them,
“Brat” Levi called out to Eren
“Yes!” Eren said happily because he was finally engaging in a conversation with him,
“You better have good intentions with her, and when I’m not around promise me she’ll be taken care of” he said not turning around to look at Eren until the last part of his sentence making sure he knew he was serious,
Levi may have been small but his aura alone let people know he wasn’t to be messed with even Eren could feel that, “she’s my girl too now, I’ll never let anything happen to her” Eren was confident in his response but the way Levi remained looking at him like he was ready to feed him to stray dogs made him not so sure, it took him 10 seconds to think about it, “I promise I’ll never let anything happen to her, if I do you can dispose of me how you’d like”
“Good” Levi turned back to washing his last dish
“When you’re done intaragating him join us on the couch to watch a movie” your mom called out from the living room
“And bring me a snack” you yelled right after her,
Eren got you and your mom snacks and Levi brought drinks to you guys,
You all ended the night laughing at some dumb movie and Eren stayed the night on the couch because your mom didn’t want him driving so late,
You tried to sneak on the couch with him but while he was asleep he rolled on you and basically crushed your ribs forcing you to get up and go to your bed but not before throwing a pillow at his face and fleeing the scene of course,
-
Bonus story
“This better not get my suit dirty” Eren said talking to Levi
“Stop complaining” he scoffed,
“I’m not trying to but at the end of the day your sister is related to you so if I get the suit dirty I also get a one way ticket to hell”
“She’s not that bad” Levi took a few seconds to process, “is she?”
“She’s Levi Ackerman but 10x worse” Eren looked at Levi and smiled sarcastically
Suddenly the car stopped, “Let’s go” Levi said getting out and Eren followed right behind him,
Levi opened the trunk and the man that was tied up was trying to scream but his mouth was tapped. Eren ripped the tape off him and he began to try to plead,
“Please, who are you?”
“Please let me go”
“I haven’t done anything wrong”
Levi laughed and Eren stood there not giving a single fuck what he had to say.
Eren suddenly pulled him out the car and let his body slam on the ground “I hope this doesn’t take long, she’s waiting on me” he said closing the trunk,
Eren and Levi dealt with the man and headed to their event, “you don’t know how long I’ve wanted to do that, thank you” Levi said as they pulled up to the party,
“Anything for my girl” They got out of the car and the first person to come up to Eren was obviously y/n and he knew exactly what she was going to say,
“Why the fuck is your damn suit dirty?”
A/N: I left the scene blank because it’s up to y’all to decide what happens to that man ◡̈

CHAPTER SIXTEEN: TENSIONS AMONG COMRADES
If Levi had to pick a favorite season, he'd be tempted to say winter. It's a terribly messy season that leads to slushy snow-mixed-mud being tracked throughout the barracks and the air is always frigid yet the Survey Corps unfortunately suffers a lack of fireplaces on base, only one in the dinning hall and a few in the higher ups' offices. Winter lasts for a miserable few months, but it's Levi's favorite because it's the only time of year expeditions are put on guaranteed pause. No missions means no deaths. No deaths means he doesn't have to worry about his friends or sister; he'll deal with all the slushy mud in the world to have that kind of peace of mind (not that he still won't pout and try to clean it anyways).
The Underground isn't known to get any warmer than 15°C on the best of summer days, so it's safe to say Levi had been accustomed to cold weather for most of his life, but things have changed since coming to the surface. Spending most of his days out on expeditions, cleaning inside by an open window, or sitting outside in the grass with you if the weather's really nice, he's slowly grown to enjoy the sun's warm rays. With that said, he has unfortunately lost some of his tolerance for biting breezes which now leaves his cheeks and nose burning red much to his dismay. It's nothing too serious, although he won't turn down a seat by a crackling fire either which leads to his current predicament.
When you came to his room offering him sanctuary in front of a fireplace, he had been skeptical. The fireplace in the dining hall is flocked to by all soldiers who huddle together within close proximity - not a space Levi wants to be squished in. Even once you specified the location, it led to more hesitation from your brother.
Yes, the blurring snow storm raging outside has left his room feeling particularly cold and he desired some better warmth compared to his thin blankets, but at the cost of being stuck in a room with just Erwin and you where he would suffer as the audience of your maddening forms of flirting? He might like sitting in the ice cellar better...
Thankfully for Levi's mental health, the three of you haven't been alone as he had worried. Mike, Nanaba, Moblit, and Hanji joined as well. It turns out none of you really felt like huddling together in the dining hall, so someone (Levi would guess to be you) convinced Erwin to have a little gathering in his office.
It isn't much, mostly just friendly chatter among close friends as they take refuge from the cold, although Erwin had broken out a bottle of wine to share; nothing fancy or expensive, but good nonetheless. Since then, Levi has sat by himself in front of the fire, nursing his wine glass while keeping an eye on everyone with silent enjoyment he'd never admit aloud.
There aren't many seats in the office, but it doesn't seem to be an issue. Mike is leaning against the wall, nodding along wordlessly to a story Nanaba is telling him. Meanwhile, Moblit and Hanji sit in the wooden chairs placed in front of the desk, Hanji dominating the conversation there while you sit on the desk itself in front of them.
You seem to be enjoying yourself from what Levi can tell. You show no boredom towards whatever Hanji's ranting about and you must be keeping track of the topic since you add in your own replies whenever prompted. Sometimes you laugh and your eyes maintain a nice glitter to them, only leaving your friend's excitement for a second to check on Erwin from where he sits appropriately in his chair behind the desk.
The lingering glances, the softness in your expression, and the slight red to your cheeks when Erwin meets your eyes before you quickly turn back to Hanji...You think you're real smooth, don't you? You've said nothing to your brother about the matter of course, not that he's bothered asking, but it's not like he needs to; he already knows the answer.
You've always behaved bashfully around Erwin, yet you changed suddenly. Nothing too crazy, however Levi's noticed that you don't blush quite as often nor do you seem as terribly flustered as before. If anything, he would dare say you seem more confident around Erwin, in fact just last week he caught the two of you walking down the hall with your pinkie fingers twisted together - like any pair of 'friends' would.
Expeditions begin, Erwin 'casually' makes his way over to personally wish you luck. Expeditions end, you breathe a visible sigh of relief when seeing him the crowd of soldiers back home. Levi's also not stupid enough to believe Erwin, who's practically second-in-command to the Survey Corps, needs that much help with paperwork that he requires you in his office during practically any break period.
It's clear as day that the two of you have definitely crossed some line in your relationship yet you haven't confirmed it aloud to anyone including Levi. Perhaps you're both keeping it a secret for the sake of being professional and maybe you're worried that your brother would be upset at your choice of men. He's already made it pretty clear that he has many complaints against Erwin, but it's not like he can convince you, an adult woman, who to date. Even if he could sway your decision, he probably wouldn't try anyways.
You're happy. Erwin's a stupid, annoying prick, but he's a stupid, annoying prick who makes you smile which is more than most other guys could say. With everything life has thrown at you, you've never had time to so much as consider dating, too preoccupied with survival and family to let yourself be that vulnerable. It's by chance that you found someone in the Survey Corps to love and you don't seem to be complaining; quite the contrary judging on how relaxed you are whenever by Erwin's side. At the end of the day, Levi has no issue with you being content like this; you deserve it more than anyone else...He just worries...
"That's really good!" You praise, gazing over the many drawings Moblit had passed to you. Flipping through them, each landscape seems to be better than the last.
"They're just rough sketches..." Moblit explains modestly while scratching the back of his neck.
"Are you kidding? They're so well detailed!" You lean over so that Erwin can see too which seems to further embarrass Moblit who's immediately reminded of his childhood where his mother would proudly show off his skills to practically the whole town while complaining he'd be 'putting it to waste' in the Survey Corps.
"She's right. You have a gift," Erwin agrees with a smile.
You choose to look over them for a second longer before giving them back to Moblit, "I wish I could draw like that. It would be a nice way to capture an image forever."
"Have you tried drawing?"
"Yes, and I'll spare everyone the torture of seeing my attempts," you sigh dramatically, earning a round of chuckles, "...Can you draw people, too?"
"Yeah, I've done a few portraits," Moblit nods, stacking his landscapes together neatly. He then glances at you with a shy offer, "...I could draw you if you want..."
"Oooh, shooting your shot, eh Moblit?" Hanji elbows him in the ribs with a hearty laugh, however he's quick to shake his head.
"N-No, I just wanted to offer, that's all! It makes people happy to see their own portraits and I can use the practice anyways."
"Seriously? You'd be up for drawing me?" You bounce with excitement like a child handed candy and it only gets worse when Moblit agrees.
While he tries to locate a fresh piece of paper in his sketchbook, you glance across the room and meet Levi's eyes. He redirects his attention back to the fire, stubbornly refusing to make it seem like he was actually listening to the conversation, after all, he had put up such a fuss in coming here earlier. You said he'd enjoy the break and he can't let you realize you were right about that.
Despite how sneaky your brother tries to be, he'll never be able to get much past you. With a smirk, you push yourself off the desk and stroll over to him with a wave to your step, "Could you do Levi and me together, Moblit?"
Levi whips his head around to you with a glare.
"If you want, sure."
"That's going to be a challenge," Hanji snickers, earning a glare of her own from Levi.
"I don't want to be any damn drawing."
"It won't take long. I can draw fast -" Moblit tries to reassure.
"- I don't care how fast you can draw. I don't want to be drawn at all."
"-Aw, come on, Levi! It'll be a nice little keepsake for us - something we can look back at years from now and remember the good o' days when we were still young," you grin, holding a hand out to him which he refuses to take, instead scooting further away from you while hugging his knees to his chest.
"No."
You sigh, placing your hands on your hips teasingly, "You're getting a drawing done with me one way or another. Don't make me hold you down in front of everyone."
"Test her, Levi! I wanna know which one of you is strongest!" Hanji hoots in laughter and she would've tipped her chair too far back if not for Nanaba pushing it upright again. At least four-eyes is having the time of her life right now. She won't be once Levi buries her in the snow later.
He glances at your hopeful expression then your hand before begrudgingly taking it at last, allowing you to pull him up off the ground. Almost the second he's on his feet, you throw your arm over his shoulders and pull him against your side roughly. "Good. Now smile!"
He huffs and rolls his eyes at your eagerness.
As promised, Moblit goes straight to work drawing while everyone else stands by watching in quiet amusement aside from Hanji who has to bite back her smirk after calling out Levi for still not smiling.
Sneering, he feels his cheeks warm at all the attention and spotlight...This feels so childish yet when he glances at you, Levi takes note of how bubbly you are. It's a stark difference from when Isabell and Furlan died or even when you all were back in the Underground together. Of course, now you're where you always wanted to be as a kid. You dreamed of being a soldier - a hero people looked up to, not down upon which had been the only feeling you ever knew back then. The best part is you're surrounded by new friends and your brother by your side. What else could you ask for?
Bowing his head, Levi allows a small smile to form on his lips.
Once the drawing is finished, Moblit hands you his work so that you may sit in awe over it and gush about his skill. Levi himself takes the time to gaze over the drawing when you pass it to him. He must admit Moblit does have talent. For something drawn so quickly, it's pretty well detailed. He's captured your smile and eyes just right, even mastering that ever so small smile Levi had, too. Perhaps the only difference is the small lines scratched in the background in the shape of buildings to give a more outside look compared to a dim office.
"See, that wasn't so bad, was it?" You ask Levi smugly, your arm once again over his shoulders to pull him into a side hug.
He rolls his eyes and pushes you away by your face, "It was torturous."
"So dramatic as always, Levi," You chuckle, taking no real offense and instead looking over the drawing again happily. After staring at it long enough to memorize every detail yourself, you carefully fold it up to fit into your chest pocket, "Thank you, Moblit. I'll keep it forever."

As the evening grows late, everyone slowly files out of Erwin's office to return to their own chilly rooms. Although the other voices get further down the hall, to no surprise, you take your time hovering outside of the office. You rock on your heels while bidding Erwin a goodnight, seemingly more pleased when he chuckles and sneaks a kiss to your cheek with his own whispered well wishes. Shyly, you stutter another ‘goodnight’ before scurrying off.
He’s smiling ever so slightly, his eyes following you until they can't any longer once you round the corner. He wonders for a moment if he should've offered you a stay in his room for the night since you had mentioned a few times how cold the barracks get, however such an offer might've been inappropriate - it would’ve been inappropriate. There's still no official label to your relationship, after all. Neither of you have dared speak it, both fearing deep down how much good it would do given your jobs. Still, label or not, it hasn't stopped you from being drawn to each other; it's contradictory, you're both aware.
"I'm surprised she didn't stay longer,” Erwin's slightly taken aback when turning to see Levi standing there with a glare, although he quickly recovers from this surprise.
"It’s late,” he says as if that's enough of an answer for why you hadn’t stayed, but Levi’s hardly amused.
“Doesn’t stop most couples.”
Erwin frowns, half tempted to deny what Levi’s hinting at yet he realizes there really wouldn’t be much point in that. Your brother’s no idiot. Deny it as you both wish, but at the end of the day, he isn’t the only one who would deem your relationship that of a couple. It doesn’t matter how stubbornly you use the title yourselves, it doesn’t reflect whatever you feel in your hearts nor will it save you from any heartbreak later on.
“I respect your sister greatly. I intend her no harm nor do I want to step on your toes, either -”
“- I don’t care what you are to each other and I don’t plan on getting in the way of my sister’s happiness,” Levi interrupts quickly, turning around to start making his own way towards the barracks, however he pauses then glances back at Erwin, “...Let me just ask you this: if it came down to it, would you sacrifice her for your ‘mission’?”
Erwin’s lips part ever so slightly, Levi's question taking him off guard. The answer sits on the tip of his tongue, yet it doesn't feel quite right making him rethink it again and again.
Despite these revisions, he can't seem to feel confident in his reply, his eyebrows furrowing together. If someone were to walk into the hallway at this moment, they might assume Erwin had been asked a complex riddle based on his confusion; they'd be no wiser and dismiss his hesitation, but Levi can't do so. Seeing the wheels turning in Erwin's head only infuriates him, causing his patience to officially snap in half.
"It's not a damn mind twister! If you truly care about - if you love her, you'd know the answer as quickly as you could tell someone your own name!" Levi hisses harshly, curling his fist at his side. He hadn't been angry before, only concerned, however that's officially changed. Now, he's angry, feeling as if his fears have suddenly been confirmed despite his prior words.
"I actually love her, so I can say with confidence that I wouldn't hesitate to give my own life for hers if it were needed."
Erwin watches Levi march off, the same dumbfounded expression printed across his face as his mind whirls around the complicated question he had been asked, but his hesitancy isn't for the reason Levi thinks.
You're just like any other soldier in the Survey Corps. You have your own hopes and dreams as well as your own talents to get you there. Perhaps the only difference is you hadn’t originally joined for the same noble cause as the others. Just a poor orphan girl from the Underground, you exist from a background Erwin could never properly understand, although he has tried to, determined to know exactly what makes you tick.
Like him, you've spent your whole life staring upwards while wondering what more there is to this hell around you. You, of course, are more selfless than him. For someone with nothing, you sure like to give. You give for your brother, you give for your comrades, and you give for Erwin. That's what makes you such a good soldier; you live for others and you have no shame nor hesitation in doing so despite how it could easily become a dangerous (yet still heroic) habit.
You're just like any other soldier in the Survey Corps. You can die at any time. You'll most likely die, chasing after the same cause and mission Erwin's invested you to. Many soldiers before you have fallen into place as the footsteps for humanity's future and at surface level, you'd lay no different than them; just a stepping stone for a worthy cause…so why does Levi's question bother Erwin this much? Why does he feel a weight in his heart at the thought of stepping over your body, hesitating to lead humanity any further than that despite where his dreams have always lied?
Erwin has always been focused on the future. He wants desperately to explore the world outside the Walls and confirm his late father’s theories for the fate of humanity…but not enough to sacrifice you...For some reason, you tilt every scale in a different direction and throw each careful calculation off the page. Thinking of your laughter and beautiful smile...Your determination and unmatched strength...Your faith and understanding that you allow yourself to show even towards a devil like him...
...Erwin doesn't know if he could choose humanity over you...

i wanna see Kuchel Ackerman interacting with reader SO BAD. so here it is! levi x reader modern au (Gender neutral pronouns for reader. SFW)
---
You stepped into Levi's teashop again, just like you did every morning for the past four months. Before any other customer came in, you’d arrive, order the exact same tea, flirt with him (or at least try to), get rejected, and then leave.
"Hi, handsome!" you chirped as you walked through the door, flashing him your brightest smile. "You're looking as pret-tea as usual." So proud of your cheeky pickup lines, weren’t you?
Levi sighed, his brows furrowing as he wiped the counter. "Good morning," he muttered, not looking up. "Regular?"
Oh, isn't he just the sweetest? Already knowing your favorite order—you wish. He knew a ton of things about you by now, but not because he was interested. No, it was because you reintroduced yourself AT LEAST twice a week. He knew your name, age, job, the name of your first fish, and even that middle school friend you still had beef with. He knew it all.
"Aww, look at you! Memorizing my order?" you teased, leaning on the counter to get a better look at him.
"No," he deadpanned. "It’s just the cheapest tea in the shop, and you order it every time you come in." He stepped back like you were a germ that he had to stay away from
“There’s a customer already?” an unfamiliar voice called from the prep area. You frowned—new employee? But no, as soon as she stepped out, you realized this wasn’t just anyone. She was one of the most jaw-dropping women you'd ever seen. Long black hair, steel-grey eyes, pale skin, and a sweet smile as she walked to the counter. Definitely related to Levi.
Ignoring Levi, she smiled directly at you. “Hi, what can we get for you today?”
Okay, you were persistent, but you weren’t dumb. She was obviously related to him. His sister? His mom? Either way, time to impress.
“I already got the ord—” Levi started, but you cut him off.
“Hi! I love your eyes!” you said, beaming at her. She smiled, a little shyly. “You’re so sweet, thank you.”
“I’m changing my order,” you declared, causing Levi to pause and raise an eyebrow. “I’ll have a cup of jasmine tea,” you continued, scanning the menu above. “And, uh... lemon cheesecake, and that thing.. I can’t pronounce.”
You were picking the most expensive items on the menu. Levi couldn’t help the faint smile that tugged at his lips.
“Sure, dear, we’ll get it right out for you,” the woman—probably his mom—replied sweetly, turning to help Levi. Getting a smile from someone related to him? Wild. You thought his whole bloodline had to be as stoic as he was.
After you got your tea and moved to a table by the window, you glanced back at the counter. Kuchel nudged Levi with her elbow, her eyes glinting with amusement. "So... who’s that?" she asked, a teasing lilt to her voice.
"Tch. No one. Just a regular customer," Levi replied with a shrug, continuing to wipe the counter as if it was his life’s mission.
“Really? They seemed interested in you,” she added, clearly enjoying the moment. Levi sighed. Maybe bringing his mother here had been a mistake. “They are,” he admitted, moving to brew a fresh pot of tea.
Kuchel’s smile widened. "They're pretty, aren’t they?" He paused, visibly uncomfortable but unable to deny it. “… I guess?”
"Alright then," Kuchel said, clearly up to something, before leaving the counter to sit across from you.
'Oh god,' Levi thought, feeling a headache coming on. He knew what his mom was about to do…
You blinked in surprise as Levi’s mom—Kuchel —sat right across from you, a warm smile on her face. You glanced at Levi, who was now standing behind the counter with the most deadpan expression, silently begging the universe to stop this.
“So, how long have you been coming to this shop?” Kuchel asked, leaning in like this was a cozy little chat between best friends.
You tried not to choke on your tea. “Uh, about four months now. I, uh, really like the tea here.”
And the view, you thought but wisely kept to yourself.
“Four months! That’s dedication,” she remarked with a knowing smile. “Levi must really enjoy seeing such a loyal customer every morning.” Levi’s eye twitched from across the room.
“Uh, yeah, it’s nice to see a familiar face,” you said, laughing nervously. Kuchel nodded, clearly entertained. “You know, he doesn’t usually get attached to customers, but I think you might be special.” She paused dramatically, then added, “He talks about you all the time.”
Your heart skipped a beat. Wait, what?
Levi nearly dropped the teapot. “Mom,” he said sharply, voice low with a warning edge. what the fuck now
“Oh, hush, I’m just making conversation,” Kuchel waved him off, fully embracing her mom duties. “He mentioned just the other day how you always come in so cheerful and—” she leaned in as if sharing a secret—“how you flirt with him every morning.”
Your face burned, and Levi’s hand gripped the counter so tightly it might break.
You stammered. “H-he told you that?”
“Well, no, but it’s pretty obvious, isn’t it?” she winked. “And you know, Levi here could use someone with your energy. He’s always so serious, isn’t he?” She turned her head slightly to address her son. “Levi, dear, you should take some notes—this one knows how to have fun.”
Levi groaned audibly. “Mom, please.”
You almost choked on your tea again. This was both mortifying and the best thing that had ever happened.
Kuchel continued undeterred. “He’s really sweet once you get to know him, you know? Sure, he’s got that broody, ‘I-don’t-care-about-anything’ look, but deep down, he’s very caring. Protective, too. He always makes sure I’m taken care of. Isn’t that right, Levi?”
Levi’s glare could’ve melted steel at this point. “I am right here, Mom.”
“Oh, don’t be so shy,” she teased, ignoring him completely. “What’s your name, dear?” she asked, turning back to you.
You told her, still a bit flustered but managing to smile. Kuchel’s face lit up.
“What a beautiful name! It would sound so lovely with ‘Ackerman,’ don’t you think?”
You almost spat out your tea. Levi nearly knocked over a stack of teacups. “Mom!”
Kuchel giggled, clearly enjoying every second of this. “What? I’m just saying. No harm in thinking about the future, right?”
Levi closed his eyes and took a slow, deep breath, as if summoning every ounce of patience in his body. “I’m going to the back,” he muttered, turning away before his mom could cause any further damage.
Kuchel just smiled after him, unfazed. “Well, he’ll come around eventually. Boys like him always do. Anyway, you’re welcome to stay as long as you like, dear. And don’t worry—I’ll make sure he brews your tea just right.”
You couldn’t help but laugh at this point. “Thank you. I’ll definitely keep coming back.”
As Levi disappeared into the back of the shop, probably questioning every life decision that led him to this moment, Kuchel leaned in one last time. “Don’t give up on him,” she whispered conspiratorially. “He needs someone to loosen him up. And between you and me…” She grinned, eyes twinkling. “I think you’re perfect for the job.”
You were certain Levi was somewhere back there facepalming so hard, but honestly? You were starting to like Kuchel a lot.

Family gathering (Postwar!Levi Ackerman x Reader)
Word count: 3 140
Disclaimer: english is not my first language, I apologize in advance for any mistakes
Summary: You and Levi finally introduce your baby to the rest of the family.
This story can be read on its own or as a part of my little post-war series: Learn to live again
Tumblr media
Family gathering
Being back in the tea shop after giving birth felt even better than you expected. Even if you only came to visit Levi for short periods of time. But it was enough time to make sure that he really had everything under control even without your help. At least for a couple more weeks.
Being new parents wasn't easy, not even the slightest, but you were adjusting. Learning every single day, that having a tiny little human living under your roof was about changing or adjusting one too many things.
Despite that, Levi and you couldn't be happier. In your newborn daughter, you saw the reason why you fought so hard all those years. She truly was a beautiful representation of the future you wanted humanity to have.
„I think they know something is up,“ Falco said, when he walked into the kitchen, that was at the back of the tea shop. Here, you used to bake many of your sweet and savory goods, which were then sold alongside the best tea in the whole town.
„Yeah, probably. But that's fine, something really is up,“ you said, smiling at the boy.
Until now, only he, Gabi, Onyankopon, and Yelena knew about the little Ackerman baby you and Levi welcomed into this world seven weeks ago. Nobody else from your friends knew you gave birth, or even that you were pregnant in the first place. You and Levi decided, that it would be better not to tell anyone and let things unfold on their own.
However, now it was finally time to introduce your precious little miracle to the rest of your family. To all your beloved friends, who fought alongside you these past few years. To the people, who helped you create a safe world to bring your daughter into.
„Is everybody here already?“
Falco nodded, gently taking your daughter's hand. She loved him so much and lately always smiled when they were together. „Yeah, they're talking, having tea and sweets but you can definitely tell they suspect something. Mainly because you're not there.“
„I think we should go see them, right?“ you asked your daughter in a sweet voice, stroking her chubby little cheeks. In some way, they very much reminded you of Levi's. Just like her silky black hair, her blue-grey eyes, or her cute little nose. She was the sweetest little copy of your husband in the cutest ways possible. „You're gonna love them, darling. And they're gonna love you.“
When the little girl looked at Falco and smiled, both of you smiled right back at her with so much love. The boy truly loved her as if she was his little sister.
„Hey, Y/N! Come and join us finally!“ Jean screamed for you from the tea shop, making you chuckle and kiss the top of your daughter's head, who tried grabbing the collar of your shirt.
„I'm coming, settle down. All of you!“ you called back, taking one last deep breath. Falco walked back to the shop before you, giving you one more moment alone.
The moment felt almost surreal. Holding your baby and getting ready to introduce her to so many important people. Not even that long ago, you would never even dream about doing something so magical.
„Now, I have a very special surprise for all of you. Can you close your eyes?“ you asked them before opening the door.
When you walked into the main part of the shop, everyone was there – Armin, Connie, Jean and Mikasa. Even Reiner, Annie, and Pieck came, along with Gabi, Yelena, and Onyankopon who didn't even need to close their eyes. Together with Falco and your husband, who was smiling at you ever so slightly.
„What do you think? What is this big surprise?“ you asked them excitedly. But before anybody said a word, your daughter let out a loud cry to get everyone's attention, before she smiled up at you. Almost as if she knew what was happening. „Okay, I guess it's not a surprise anymore. Open your eyes,“ you said, smiling happily at them.
The awe on everyone's face was so worth keeping this whole thing private until now. Connie and Armin looked at you as if they'd never seen a baby in their life before. But that was probably because of their last visit when you were five months along and still barely showing. Under the right pieces of clothing, they had zero chance of noticing anything. And now, half a year later, you were standing in front of them with a baby in your arms.
„So... we called you all here today, because we wanted you to meet someone very special,“ you said, looking over at Levi. With a slightly pained expression, he stood up from his wheelchair and walked a few steps to stand next to you. „She'll be two months old in a couple of days. I hope you can forgive us that we kept such a big thing a secret until now. It was...“
„We wanted to make sure everything will turn out okay,“ Levi said when you couldn't find the right words. „And then we wanted to soak up every little moment with her. Just the three of us,“ he added, wrapping one of his arms around your waist. It was a gesture full of love and also a way to help him stand more securely because of his leg.
It almost seemed that everybody was too shocked to speak. The first one to stand up and come up to you was Jean. He smiled, looking at both you and Levi. Then his soft light-brown eyes wandered to your baby, looking her over very carefully. He offered her one of his fingers, which the little girl took with such excitement, seeming happy that she was seeing a new face.
„She's beautiful, Captain, Y/N,“ he said proudly and with a happy smile.
„Oi, where did you get that baby, Y/N? When me and Armin were here a few months back, you surely weren't pregnant,“ Connie shouted, hurrying to you as well.
„I can assure you, that I was pregnant at the time. Five months pregnant, to be more specific. I just hid it too well,“ you chuckled, stroking your baby's hair. Her eyes were wide open with curiosity while her tiny hands were playing with Jean's fingers.
„Was she, Captain?“ Connie asked Levi, not wanting to believe you.
„Where do you think we got a baby that looks like me if she didn't give birth to it?“ Levi questioned him, his brows furrowed. He may looked annoyed with all the commotion, but by the tone of his voice, it was obvious, that he was enjoying having them all here.
„She really does look like you, Captain,“ Armin said, coming to stand between Jean and Connie.
Behind him, Mikasa followed a little shily. You gave her a warm smile and motioned to her, to come even closer. „Would you like to hold her? You're blood-related, after all,“ you said to her, looking over at Levi, who nodded at your words.
She seemed a little hesitant but eventually nodded in agreement. After showing her, how to safely hold the baby, she took her from you and carefully cradled your daughter against her chest. The little girl looked confused when she first looked up at Mikasa, but after she grabbed a strand of her hair everything was okay.
„She's adorable, congratulations to you both,“ Mikasa said, smiling at both you and Levi warmly. You've barely seen her since the Rumbling, because she went back to Paradis, so her presence right now was even more precious. „What's her name?“
You knew this question would come. And you were preparing yourself to answer it without too much emotion. But suddenly... when they were all here, standing around you and waiting for your answer... it felt almost impossible to explain the meaning of your daughter's name without making everybody way too emotional.
She got her name after a person, who was very dear to you and Levi. And to all of the 104th as well. It was a person, who was supposed to be here today with all of you as well. And also the person, thanks to who you got one more chance to fight the Rumbling and win.
„We named her after Hange,“ Levi said in a calm voice, seeing you struggling a little. „Zoe. Zoe Ackerman.“
„The meaning of her name is... life,“ you added in a quiet voice, reaching out your hand and stroking your baby's back. „I guess it's more than fitting, don't you think?“ Feeling your eyes welling up with tears, you looked at your friends. A wild range of emotions was seen on their faces – sadness, surprise, and also happiness.
Armin was the first one to speak up, leaning closer to Mikasa and taking the baby's hand, shaking it very gently. Such a sweet gesture made all of you chuckle. „It's more than fitting,“ he smiled at her warmly. „Nice to meet you, Zoe. I'm sure we'll be very good friends once you grow up a little.“
The sweet tone in which Armin talked to your baby melted your heart completely. Feeling unimaginable happiness, you looked over at Levi and kissed his cheek. The way he was watching the scene right in front of you, was more than beautiful. His expression was relaxed, almost completely pain-free. The look in his eyes was soft and loving towards all the people standing around you and introducing themselves to your baby in the funniest, yet most adorable way possible. She was all smiles, while she was looking around and taking in all the new people.
So despite looking so much like Levi, she surely didn't get her personality from him.
Connie was the one, who made her the most excited. Mainly, when he held her in a way that she was able to pull Jean's hair. But he truly couldn't be angry with her for even a second.
„Hey, you three. Come on, don't be shy,“ you said to Reiner, Annie, and Pieck who were still standing a little to the side, only watching the others happily fuss around your baby, who was making a lot of loud excited noises.
Once they were your enemies, they wanted you dead. Now they were here amongst your closest friends and family. In a way, you forgave them for almost everything. After having a couple of difficult talks, mainly with Reiner, you gained a new perspective of them all. And through that, things between you and them started changing. Gabi and Falco also helped a bunch, too.
„It's okay, we wanted you here and we're happy that you came,“ you said to them, stroking Reiner's arm and smiling at the girls.
„In a twisted kind of way, but we're all here thanks to you, too,“ Levi said to them, his grip around your waist tightening. His knee was starting to trouble him after standing by your side for a few minutes.
So after you made sure, that your baby was truly in good hands, you helped Levi walk outside the tea shop and sit down on a bench right next to the door. A heavy sigh escaped his mouth when he finally sat down and took the weight off his left leg.
„Good? Are you okay?“ you asked a bit worriedly, sitting down next to him. While your left hand started rubbing his back comfortingly, you leaned closer and kissed his cheek.
„Yeah, sure,“ he mumbled, taking a couple of deep breaths to ease the pain.
„It went well, didn't it? They were all so surprised and happy,“ you chuckled, resting your head against his. The voices and laughter from inside were heard pretty clearly, so you didn't have to worry. „And right now, they have probably a couple of minutes before she starts crying. Either because she'll be hungry or because she won't be able to find us.“
Levi smirked, wrapping his arm around your waist again, to keep you close. Despite the pain, he still seemed relaxed and content with the way today turned out. Everybody's reaction made it certain, that you and Levi did the best thing when you kept your pregnancy private.
„It's all so bittersweet. Having so many of them here and still missing a bunch of people,“ Levi said, his fingers gently stroking your side.
„They are here with us. In a different kind of way, but still.“
You could see all of your fallen friends and comrades in your baby's eyes and in her every smile. All the things they did and for what they sacrificed their lives, made it possible for little Zoe to be born. You and Levi were grateful to them every single day. For their bravery, resilience, and determination to make the world a better place.
Hange, Erwin, Sasha, Miche, Nanaba, Nifa, Furlan, Isabel, Moblit, Petra, Eld, Oluo, Gunther... Eren...
All of them and many, many more gave their lives a long time ago, so you and your friends could have this life. In one way or another. Looking back, there probably wasn't a way to save them. To spare them from death. All you could do was continue living your best life and honor them by being happy.
„Who would have thought, really? That we would make it here all the way from the Underground,“ you sighed, running your fingers through Levi's hair lovingly.
„We made it far, that's true. And...“ he shrugged, smirking at his own words, „I'm kind of excited to see what's next, now that we have our little girl. She's going to turn our lives upside down so many times.“
„That's what parenthood is about, right?“ you chuckled, grabbing his free hand and holding it tight. „We're doing good. Learning and making mistakes. I'm so glad that everything worked out in the end and that we have her.“ Having a baby was an adventure like no other. In the end, all the sleepless nights were worth it, when you saw your little angel smile at you, with her eyes full of innocence and pure love.
„Just wait until she starts walking and running around. That's gonna be a disaster.“
„We'll just have to keep up with her.“ You gently took Levi's chin and turned his head, so you could see his face.
He was still very handsome, no scars or a missing eye could change that. For you, he was the one and only. Since you were a teenager to this very day. All those years, it was Levi. And you were more than sure, that it would stay like this for the rest of your life. Nothing and nobody would be able to change your mind, because Levi was all you'll ever need – with all of his disabilities, which sometimes still made him feel a little self-conscious or worried, that he wasn't good enough for you. He was more than enough and you never failed to remind him that. A day never went by without you reminding him, just how thankful you were for his love and his presence in your life.
„I love you,“ Levi said, leaning in for a kiss. His soft lips pressed against yours, making you forget about everything else.
„That's really good to know because I love you too.“ With a smile, you brushed a few strands of hair from his forehead and kissed the tip of his nose. „I'm proud to call you mine and be yours.“
His sweet little smile had a very strong effect on you every single time you got the chance to see it. Mainly, when said smile reached his eyes and made him look so carefree and young. Seeing him like that, nobody would be able to tell how many horrors he had to suffer through.
Levi rested his forehead against yours, reaching for your left hand. He brushed his thumb over your wedding band, finding your lips in another sweet and love-filled kiss. Time seemed to stop around you at that moment.
But only until you heard a loud cry from inside the tea shop. Just moments later, Connie hurried outside, eagerly trying to return your baby into your arms. „Guess she doesn't like when someone pinches her cheeks. But they're so adorable and chubby, I couldn't resist.“
„They remind me of someone else's cheeks,“ Mikasa added, standing in the open door, her eyes focused on Levi with a playful smirk. You bit down on your lower lip, trying not to laugh, while Connie was grinning so hard, he had to turn away.
Levi, a little flustered, shook his head upon them and took his crying daughter into his arms. You watched him gently cradle her against his chest, planting a couple of kisses on the top of her head, while he rubbed her back.
„The brats made you cry, huh? Don't worry, you'll get used to them,“ he said to the baby, looking back at Connie. „And you'll have them wrapped around your finger in no time,“ Levi added and kissed her forehead in the hopes of stopping her from crying more. But little Zoe knew exactly what she wanted and cried until Levi didn't hide her in his embrace from the rest of the world, while he lovingly started scratching the back of her head. Lately, this has become the most efficient way to calm her down.  „There, sweetie. That's better, right? No need to cry.“
Connie chuckled at the sight. „Well, Captain. Seems you're already wrapped around her finger. I've never heard you talk so sweetly to anyone, not even to Y/N.“
Jean and Armin came to stand by Mikasa, all of them watching the sweet sight of Humanity's Strongest being a completely different person when it came to his own daughter. All of them changed so much during the past few years. But when you looked at them in that moment, you still saw the kids they were, when they joined the Scouts. The kids you grew to love and swore to protect. The kids, who became your family long before such a peaceful life was even a possibility for all of you.
What a shame not all of them made it this far.
Not having Sasha and Eren here felt strange and painful. It felt like you failed a little. But just until you looked back at your daughter. Her cheeks were still wet from tears, while she was so adorably clinging to Levi. In her still teary eyes, you saw Sasha's dedication and Eren's bravery.
And that was what mattered the most.
Having your family here with you and showing them just how much they meant to you. How much you loved them and how happy it made you, that they came here today to meet little Zoe Ackerman.

Just a random Sunday afternoon with the Ackerman household Levi Ackerman X Reader with Kids Short Fluff
Tumblr media
You were busy hanging clothes in the backyard. Nearby, your two children—a seven-year-old boy and a five-year-old girl—were engaged in a playful duel with wooden swords, their laughter breaking the quiet.
Your son often let his excitement get the better of him, swinging his sword with more power than necessary. His younger sister, struggling to keep up, soon found herself on the verge of tears from the rough play. She abandoned her sword on the grass and ran towards Levi, who was observing them from the porch. He crouched down to meet her eye level.
"He's too strong," she pouted, tears swelling in her eyes.
"It's alright, sweetheart," he said, placing a tender kiss on her forehead. "How about I take your place in the fight?"
"But Papa, you'll get hurt!" she protested.
Upon hearing this, you paused from hanging the clothes, a loud laugh escaping you. "Oh, I think your Papa can handle a little duel.”
Levi glanced over at you, a playful smirk on his lips, as he reassured her, "Don't worry, I've faced much scarier things than this. I'll be fine."
Her eyes lit up at the proposal, and she nodded eagerly, wiping away the tears. Hand in hand, they approached the boy, who paused, looking slightly hesitant but that quickly faded when he saw his father picking up the wooden sword with ease, holding it in a relaxed but ready stance.
"I’m ready," he said, realizing that he was up against his dad. "Hope you can keep up!" He smiled ear to ear.
Levi gestured for his son to make the first move, an invitation the boy accepted with a wide grin. The duel began with the boy lunging forward aggressively, clearly confident in his ability to best his father. Levi effortlessly dodged the boy’s eager lunges, tapping him gently on all his openings. The boy's confidence slowly faded and turned into frustration as he realized that he could not beat his father.
On the sidelines, his sister, initially excited by the match, grew restless as it seemed never-ending. "Can we go do something else?" she asked you, tugging at your shirt.
"Yeah, I’m tired of this too," you replied, playfully rolling your eyes. "Let’s go inside. You can help me set the table for dinner." She nodded happily and followed you into the house. Inside, you and your daughter set the table together, her earlier worries forgotten as she happily helped with the cooking and taste-testing.
The sun began to set, painting the yard in a golden light. You stepped onto the porch, drying your hands on a towel. Levi and your son were still dueling, and you could tell your son was exhausted.
"Wrap it up! Dinner is ready. Hurry up before it gets cold!” you yelled.
The boy looked over in disappointment. He dropped his sword and began walking to the house, Levi doing the same.
"You're stubborn, you know that?" Levi said with a light chuckle. "Reminds me of someone I used to know."
The boy, puffing out his chest a bit, asked, "Was he a good fighter?"
"One of the best," Levi replied. "And stubborn just like you. Never gave up, no matter what."

The Patient
MDNI!!!!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Summary: As a dental hygienist for six years, nothing throws off Jean Kirstein. Until he meets you, his newest patient.
Pairings: afab reader x Jean
Warnings: lots of teasing, SMUT, oral of course because it's dentistry
Word count: ~8,000 (I uh, got carried away with this one)
Author's note: To my sister wife, @babypaloma, plz enjoy this time with our husband!! Also you should all know this is my first time writing true smut, plz be nice to me.
As a dental hygienist for six years, nothing throws off Jean Kirstein. He works at a small clinic in western Mitras, mostly patients under the age of 50 who live and work in the city. Though it's fairly relaxed, Jean has seen it all – one time, a seed stuck in a patient's retainer grew into a sprout. He's also seen rotting flesh inside a patient's mouth. Thankfully, those are rare cases.
But Jean is never phased by the unhinged things he's witnessed in people's mouths. He got into the profession simply because he likes helping people – he spends more time with the patients than the actual dentist. And he finds the science fascinating.
Jean has never been phased until he sees you.
You're flustered when you burst through the doors of the clinic. He notes how flushed pink your cheeks are and how wild your hair is from the wind. Outside, a fall storm rages. Bright orange, red and yellow leaves swirl around and slap the rain-soaked window. Though it's mid-morning, the storm has darkened the skies.
Jean hovers behind Sasha, the office manager, to see who his next patient is. Sasha opens the schedule on the computer and the cursor hovers over a woman's name. It's someone he doesn't recognize, and Jean remembers all his patients – so you must be new.
Sasha calls your name and Jean's eyes lock with yours as you dart up to the desk and apologize for being late.
“I didn't expect the storm today,” you say and peel off your soaking wet jacket.
Something unfamiliar jolts through Jean's body head to toe as you reveal a form-fitting shirt underneath your jacket. It's not inherently sexual, not at all, but with the way the rain drips off the ends of your hair onto your shirt – warmth courses through Jean's body and he's not quite sure why.
Your name rolls off Jean's tongue with ease. He's frozen as you lock eyes with him.
“I'm ready for you,” he says with a warm smile.
“Great.” You return his smile with bright eyes.
A shiver runs down Jean's spine. Before he loses his composure, he turns on his heel and leads you down to the exam room.
“After you,” he gestures and can't help but sneak a peak at your ass.
Keep it professional, Jean reminds himself. This certainly isn't the first time he's had an attractive patient. But something about you feels different.
He's about to run through all the routine questions for a new patient, but he notices most of your chart is already filled out – your name, number, address, etc.
“Are you a new patient?” Jean asks, perplexed.
“Ah, yes and no,” you explain. “I went to a clinic under the same system in eastern Mitras, but I just moved, so now I'm here.”
“Gotcha, same system, different clinic.” Jean notes that your emergency contact is a woman's name – Pieck Finger. Either you don't have a serious significant other – or you're not interested in men at all. There's no relationship listed, but he can add one.
“And what's Pieck's relationship to you?” Jean clears his throat.“Friend, roommate, partner?”
“Oh – friend and roommate,” you answer from the exam chair. Jean nods and adds that note into your chart. Of course, it's still a possibility that you're dating someone, but he's not exactly sure how to ask. Or if he should. No, Jean knows he shouldn't. It's not professional. Dr. Levi Ackerman would throttle him.
“And what brought you to the western side?” He asks and pulls up your dental records.
“Pieck and I just wanted to explore a different part of the city,” you answer and shrug.
“Yeah? How you like it here so far?” Jean mindlessly scrolls through your records. He's skimming them, stalling for time to chat with you, to learn more about you beyond what's in your chart.
“Love it,” you emphasize. “The eastern side was a bit too corporate for me. I like all the small shops around here.”
Jean swivels in his chair to turn to you. “So you don't miss the east side at all? Nothing tying you there?” This is about as close as he can get to asking you if you have a boyfriend without making it inappropriate.
“Nope.” You make direct eye contact with Jean. The mischievous glimmer in your eyes sends ripples up and down his body. “That's the great part about moving to a new place. I'm open and available for anything.” Heat rises to Jean's face. He didn't expect you to answer so confidently. He puts on his face mask on to cover up his blushing face. Well, that answers that, he thinks.
“Oh by the way,” Jean says as he realizes there was something in your chart worth noting. He turns back to the computer screen to double check. “Just a heads up that next time you come in, we'll have to do updated x-rays.”
“Ugh.”
Jean chuckles. “Sensitive gag reflex?” The words are out of his mouth before he realizes the implications of what he asked. He didn't mean it like that though. Plenty of patients struggle with sensitive gag reflex, so it's not something he's thought of as inherently sexual. But with you on his exam chair? It's a totally different connotation.
“Oh, very,” you drawl. Jean's eyes practically pop out of his skull. He's relieved that he's looking at the computer screen and not you. Not while he's wondering exactly how sensitive your gag reflex is, especially if -
No, no, NO, Jean reprimands himself. He clears his throat again.
“Alright then.” He's not sure how to segue out of that. He pulls on a new pair of gloves and gets to work.
It's no exaggeration for Jean to say you have the prettiest mouth he's ever seen. He's glad that he has several years of dental cleaning experience and can turn his brain on autopilot. If he were less experienced, he might get distracted. Since you're unable to talk, Jean loses himself in his work, moving from one tooth to the next to remove plaque. There's not much too of it – he can tell you keep up with your regular cleanings.
After a couple minutes, Jean wipes the scaler off and returns to your mouth, which you've closed. Obedient, you open your mouth as Jean moves closer to you – and you lick a gloved finger tip. He freezes.
Did that really just happen?
No, that had to be an accident.
But you're making direct eye contact with him again, as if presenting a challenge.
Jean clears his throat, again, and tries to ignore the faint pulsing in between his legs.
Get your shit together, Kirstein, he berates himself.
He continues his work, but Jean's finger tip is still warm where you licked him. After a few more minutes, he's finished with the plaque removal.
“Nice,” he says and switches to the polisher. “I can tell you're pretty good about coming in for appointments.”
“I am a pretty good girl about that,” you answer in a low voice.
Jean gulps.
He turns to you and rolls his chair closer to yours.
“Um – ready?” He holds the polisher in one hand.
“Ready.” You lick your lips and open your mouth.
The faint pulsing in between Jean's legs throbs as he imagines what your mouth would look like wrapped around his dick.
His mental filter is destroyed.
Jean is a goner.
He forces himself to focus on polishing your teeth, even though his eyes are pulling him to sneak a peak at your cleavage. What he wouldn't give to rip his gloves off and trace your body while you lie on the exam chair.
Jean is grateful that you can't possibly see the raging boner under his long, white coat.
After he's done polishing your teeth, Jean gives you a swig of water and places the suction in your mouth to finish up. You hold on to the suction as it cleans out the water in your mouth.
Jean's hand trembles as he holds it inside your mouth. You hold onto it for far longer than necessary.
“Mmmm,” you hum and gaze at Jean with lazy eyes.
His heart pounds.
He wants to make you hum like that again.
With his fingers, his tongue, his cock, anything.
“Alright, how we doin'???” Dr. Hange Zoe bursts in to greet you two.
You open your mouth and Jean quickly removes the suction.
“Good,” you both answer at the same time.
“Can I take a look?” Dr. Zoe plops onto the other chair and rolls toward you. Jean tears himself away and busies himself with going over your chart on the computer again. “Any issues, Jean?”
“Nope, she's perfect,” he answers. And he means it. He's not quite sure what it is pulling him toward you – your bold attitude, your confidence, your sparkling eyes, and most obviously, your plush lips. Jean folds his hands in his lap, silently begging Dr. Zoe to stay focused on you and not his still present boner.
“Wow, you've got a great set of teeth!” They exclaim. “No risk of cavities anywhere. I'm not worried about anything. We really don't see mouths like this every day, do we Jean?”
“Um, uh – no, we don't,” Jean stutters. He stares at your phone number in your chart. It would be all too easy to write it down while Dr. Zoe was examining you.
But he couldn't – he shouldn't – cross that line. No, he's not some perv.
“I think we're all good here,” Dr. Zoe says and removes their gloves. “Jean boy, why don't you schedule our fine patient's next appointment?” They run off to see the next patient before waiting for a response. Jean pulls up the schedule and clicks through to the spring.
“It'll be the usual six months out,” he explains. “How's Friday morning again?”
“Sounds like a date. Though I was hoping for sooner than six months.”
Jean's mouth goes dry.
“Yeah, standard procedure, it's too bad. . .” he trails off and sneaks a peak at you behind his shoulder. You're sitting up now and grinning like a devil. “Anyways, I'll walk you out?” Thankfully, his boner has mostly dissipated. Mostly. He folds his hand in front of his crotch just in case. “Any plans for the weekend?”
“I haven't made too many friends on this side of town yet. The weekend might be a good opportunity though. Actually - I'll be at the bar down the street Saturday night.”
“Oh really?” Jean's voice squeaks ever so slightly. He knows exactly what bar you're talking about. After shifts, he and Sasha sometimes stop there and meet up with a few of their other friends.
“Uh huh,” you nod slowly and grab your still damp jacket from the rack. Jean towers over you as you slowly zip it up. “I guess I'll see you in six months – or maybe sooner.” You wink as you dash out the door before Jean has a chance to say goodbye.
Like a zombie, he walks back behind the desk over to Sasha.
“Um, how much time before my next patient?” He asks and leans over to see the schedule on her computer.
Sasha whirls around. “I have a more important question who was that? She sounded like she was begging you to go out with her!” Her amber eyes beg Jean for more information.
“What now?” A deadpan voice forces Jean to stand up pin straight.
“Nothing, sir!” Though Dr. Levi Ackerman was nearly a foot shorter than Jean, he never ceased to scare the shit out of him. Dr. Ackerman gives Jean the side eye. “I heard something about flirting? I swear to god Kirstein-”
“It was nothing sir, I swear!” Jean tries to explain, terrified that his professional behavior is being questioned, or worse, that Dr. Ackerman will reassign you to another dental hygienist.
“Tch.” Dr. Ackerman stalks off, temporarily satisfied.
Relieved, Jean collapses in the chair next to Sasha.
“Your next appointment is in about 15 minutes – Floch, do you remember him?”
Jean wracks his brain. “Ah yeah, serial cavity offender. Can't wait,” he grumbles.
He wishes all his patients looked like you.
~ ~ ~
You and your best friend Pieck cackle on the floor of your living room together. You clutch your stomach, aching from laughter.
“I can't believe I did that,” you gasp out and wipe tears of laughter from your eyes. As soon as you came home from the dentist, you told Pieck everything. You're not usually that bold, but relative anonymity empowered you.
“Way to start out our move with a bang,” Pieck laughs. “Although, not quite,” she gives a wry smile. “What did he look like? Tell me more!”
“Ugh,” you groan and roll onto your stomach. “Sexy as hell. Tall, really tall. Ashy brown hair – kinda shaggy, but it works for him. Hazel eyes. He seemed pretty fit too.”
“Sounds like you got a pretty good look. I still can't believe you did that,” Pieck shakes her head, her dark waves flying all over. “You're going to get banned for sexual harassment!” She teases.
“And I'd do it again,” you giggle and shrug.
You mean it – mostly. It might make for an awkward appointment in the spring, but with the way Jean flushed every time you teased him, you couldn't help but egg him on.
“Do you think he'll actually show up tomorrow night?” Pieck asks more seriously.
“I dunno.” You place your hand on your chin. “But I think it's worth going regardless.”
You and Pieck pick a seat at the bar that gives you two a perfect view of the front doors. You sit on margaritas all night, but the tall dental hygienist you're looking for never shows. You admit you're a little disappointed. With how flustered Jean was, you thought he might return your interest, but perhaps not. Or maybe he was seeing someone else. Guilt sinks into you as you wonder if pushed the poor guy too far. You shake it off and chat with Pieck about all the new places in your neighborhood you want to try.
The next six months pass by in a blur. You start your new job, which is boring, quite honestly, but it pays the bills. You and Pieck make new friends through various activities like a book club, yoga classes, and the community garden. You go on a few dates here and there, but nothing really sticks. They're a fun time, but thoughts about a certain tall dental hygienist come back like a boomerang.
You search the clinic website to try and find Jean's last name, but they only have the doctors listed. You've never been much into dating apps, but you download them all in hopes that you find him. You don't. So he's either taken or not into dating apps.
Admittedly, Jean begins to fade into memory as the days grow colder.
Then when spring hits, you remember.
You're practically skipping as you walk to your dentist appointment. The spring sun warms you from head to toe. You breath in the fresh scent of blooming cherry blossoms. You hope you didn't scare Jean away and that he's still your dental hygienist.
The same woman with long, brown hair and eager amber eyes greets you. Her name tag reads Sasha. You plop down on the white couches and aimlessly scroll through your phone.
A familiar voice calls your name.
You jerk your head up.
Jean stands in front of you with a wry smile on his face. “I'm ready for you.”
“Oh, uh, perfect,” you stutter and stand up. You follow him to the exam room.
He's even taller than you remembered. And more rugged – this time he's sporting a bit of scruff.
“After you,” he says and gestures to the exam chair. You sit down and turn sideways to watch him bring up your chart on the computer. You confirm that you have the same number, address, emergency contact, all the basic information.
“Any regular coffee or soda intake?” Jean asks.
“Occasional coffee,” you answer and swing your legs back forth. You twirl the ends of your hair. “I have an. . . addictive personality.”
“Oh yeah?” Jean turns to meet you with his earthy hazel eyes. He smirks and tilts his head. “What's your flavor?”
“Mostly bitter,” you blurt. “With a splash of milk.”
“Sounds right up my alley,” Jean says, holding eye contact. “Anyways.” He gets up and pulls out a strange looking machine. “We need to do updated x-rays today since your chart says it's been a few years.”
“Great,” you mutter. Last time you had to do these at the other clinic, you practically choked on everything the dental hygienist shoved in your mouth.
“Don't worry, I'll be gentle,” Jean purrs. “I remember you said you had a . . . sensitive gag reflex.”
You gulp as you turn yourself to sit the correct way in the exam chair. It's your turn to be flustered now.
Jean turns to you and holds a long, plastic device with his careful, gloved hands.
“Open up,” he whispers. “Nice and wide.”
You obey. You have no idea what the x-ray equipment is called, all you know is that it looks like some sort of instrument of torture devised for those cursed with small mouths.
“Bite down here,” Jean commands and taps on a red tab. You follow his instructions and fight to keep from gagging as the end of the device pokes the back of your throat. After a few seconds of extreme discomfort, Jean motions for you to open your mouth.
“Good girl,” he praises you as he slowly pulls the contraption out of your mouth. Goosebumps prickle up and down your arms.
Once the x-rays are done, you lie down for the regular cleaning and polishing. Jean runs a glove-covered thumb over your bottom lip as your mouth parts.
“Still looking good,” he murmurs.
You're not sure whether it's good or bad that you can't speak right now. Your soft lips burn under the gentle pressure of Jean's thumb. Your heart pounds with every movement Jean's fingers make in your mouth. It's not the exact actions – they're exactly the same as than any other dentist appointment. It's the sensual intention.
Or is it just your imagination? The urge to experiment rushes through you like a heat wave.
Jean's deft fingers move from tooth to tooth, perfecting them. In the middle of these movements, you find an opportunity to poke the inside of your cheek with your tongue. He pauses, hazel eyes widening. There's no hiding what Jean is thinking. The corners of your mouth tilt up, knowing that lewd thoughts about you are pouring into his mind.
He clears his throat and moves your tongue back with his fingers.
“Behave yourself,” he chastises you.
You want to giggle, but your mouth is full of, well – him.
Jean is finished with the cleaning all too soon. Dr. Zoe bursts in with the same gusto you remember from last time.
“How's our best patient doing?” They ask and bounce up and down on the chair next to you.
“Couldn't be better,” you grin and look past their excited demeanor to Jean. His hazel eyes burn with intensity. This time, he doesn't hide in the computer. Your body tingles knowing that he's undressing you with his eyes. His tongue slips out of his mouth and runs along his bottom lip. You have to break eye contact as Dr. Zoe does their own examination, albeit much quicker and less invasive than Jean's. It takes everything you have to refrain from jumping out of the chair and onto Jean.
“No issues,” Dr. Zoe confirms, almost a carbon copy of last fall. “Except watch the spot right behind your front teeth. It's not anything major, I can just tell that you're missing that spot when brushing. Anyways, I gotta do a root canal – see you in the fall!” They say your name and dash off to another less fortunate patient.
“So our perfect patient is not so perfect?” Jean raises an eyebrow at you as the two of you are alone in the room again.
“I guess not,” you sigh. “Seems I'm missing a spot.”
“I can help you with any spots you need help with,” he says, eyes lingering at your breasts. The sensitive spot between your legs begins to throb at that idea.
You cross your legs and smirk. The boldness you felt at that last appointment has returned. “And how might you help me with that?”
“I know a few ways,” Jean begins, “but it might be best for outside the office. Maybe at a certain bar tomorrow night.”
You pause. Tomorrow is Saturday. The same day of the week you suggested Jean meet you six months ago, and he never showed.
“A Saturday appointment? You must be a hard worker.” You tease. “How can I guarantee you'll be there?” You push, refusing to be let down again.
“I think I know a way.” Jean holds up a business card and drops it on the floor. You frown, not quite understanding. He gets up and leaves the room. “I'll walk you out when you're ready,” he calls.
You get up from the exam chair and grab the card off the floor.
Jean Kirstein.
It lists his title as a dental hygienist, the clinic phone number and his work email – nothing personal or interesting, aside from his last name. You flip the card over.
His cell phone number is scrawled on the back. A smile spreads across your face. He must mean it this time.
You pocket the card and flounce out of the room and walk side-by-side with Jean down the hallway. “I just realized we didn't talk about scheduling your next appointment. Same time, same place?” He asks, mischief dancing in his eyes.
You realize just how tall this man is when you have to crane your next up to look at him as you reach the lobby.
“Works for me. The earlier the better.”
Your heart throbs with anticipation – and nerves. You dash out the door without saying goodbye.
“Shut up.” You hear Jean hiss as you leave, no doubt to the woman who was checking patients in for appointments.
You know you won't have to wait another six months to see Jean Kirstein.
~ ~ ~
You tap your fingers repeatedly on the edge of the bar table in a sort of rhythmic trance. It's Saturday evening and you're waiting to see if your dental hygienist shows up – if Jean Kirstein shows up. You remind yourself to refer to his actual name, not his occupation. A dark-haired man sitting nearby you catches your eyes with his bright green ones. Well, if Jean doesn't show up, at least there's something to look at, you think.
Before arriving at the bar, you agonized over what to wear while Pieck sat on your bed and gave nods of approval for outfits you liked. In the end, you chose a springy dress with a black leather jacket. Cute, but a little edgy.
You've already downed one gin and tonic to calm your nerves. Jean seemed to be pretty damn clear that he'd be here this time. And you have his number to text if he doesn't.
You dig your phone out of your purse, wondering if it's been long enough that you should text. You're just about to type out a message when -
“Hey there.” You look up, expecting warm, hazel eyes, but piercing green ones meet you instead. The man who's been trying to catch your attention all evening.
“Hi.” A smile spreads across your face. Though you'd rather see Jean, you can't help but smile an another attractive man – you're only human, after all.
“Eren,” the man introduces himself and offers a warm hand. You shake it, noticing the rough calluses. Eren clearly works out. “I couldn't help but notice you're here alone. Can I buy you drink? My time is free.” He offers a sly grin.
You consider Eren's offer for half a second, but a hand with long fingers claps down on his shoulder.
“Actually, she's here with me.”
An even bigger smile bursts across your face. Any notion of entertaining a night with someone else flees from your mind.
Jean is here.
“Sorry for the confusion,” you apologize to Eren, though you're really not that sorry. “Nice to meet you though,” you call out as he turns away, disgruntled.
“And I'm sorry I'm late,” Jean apologizes to you. “I got a bit uh, preoccupied.” He runs his hand through his ash brown hair. He looks different outside of the dental office. Younger and more nervous. More human. He's wearing dark jeans and an olive green button up, though the last couple buttons remain open, giving you an open view of his throat and a glimpse of his chest – which seems to be as well defined as you imagined.
“No worries,” you reassure him and use your straw to shuffle the ice in your mostly empty glass. “I'm glad you showed up this time.”
Jean places his hands on the chair in front of you and leans over slightly. “Yeesh, I'm not off to a great start, am I?” He asks, another apology written on his face. “I chickened out last time, if I'm being honest. I was nervous about,” he pauses to think, “professional boundaries.”
“I didn't get you in trouble, did I?” You tease.
“Nah,” he waves and laughs, giving you a full view of his teeth. Of course the guy who works at a dental office has perfect teeth. You wonder what they might feel like on your skin. Heat flushes your face. “Anyways – what are you drinking?” He points to your empty glass.
“Gin and tonic.” You raise your glass. Jean takes it and stalks off to the bar.
You shift to cross your legs and can't help but smile as Jean orders drinks for you two. You've never been this bold before, so you certainly didn't imagine the dental appointment encounter would turn in to anything – but here you are. And here is Jean, returning to your table with another gin and tonic for you and one for him.
“I think you had a good idea,” he says, sitting down and placing the drinks on your table. “Spring is the best time for gin.” He takes a sip and holds eye contact with you. You haven't even made physical contact tonight, but those earthy hazel eyes threaten to shatter every part of your being.
You nod in agreement and mirror Jean, taking a sip of your drink. “So, back to the professional boundaries,” you begin. “Leaving your number on the card was clever.”
Jean chuckles. “I was mulling over that one for days. I knew your appointment was coming up and I didn't want to mess it up this time.”
“And you couldn't take my number from my chart?” You smirk and play with your straw with your tongue. Jean is captivated by your swirling tongue.
“Definitely would've been a privacy violation. Dr. Ackerman would've had my ass if he ever found out. But nobody can fault me for dropping a business card that just happened to have my cell number on it.” He shrugs in mock innocence.
“That makes sense,” you nod, taking on a slightly more serious tone as you find yourself wondering more about Jean's life. “Which one is Dr. Ackerman?”
“Small guy with dark hair. Usually looks like someone just shoved something up his ass,” Jean laughs. You recall passing this doctor in the hallway – and his photo on the dental clinic website. “It's a wonder Dr. Zoe saw something in him.”
“Wait.” You tilt your head. “Dr. Zoe and Dr. Ackerman are together?” You're a bit bewildered by this, given Dr. Zoe's erratic nature and Dr. Ackerman's stoicism.
“Yep,” Jean answers and takes a swig of his drink. “Most people wouldn't know by the way they act. But yeah, they met in grad school and started this clinic together.”
“And how'd you end up at the clinic?” You're not usually one to chat about jobs – to you, they're fairly meaningless, but considering it's a major part of how you met Jean, you want to know more.
“Mmm, I always found human biology interesting. I thought it would be fun to specialize in something, so I shadowed Dr. Zoe for a few weeks on summer and they never let me go. They're also a part-time professor at the university I went to, so it was an easy in. They tried to convince me to continue schooling to be a dentist, but I prefer spending time with patients, which you ironically don't get to do as much when you're a doctor. And, to be honest, I didn't want to go to grad school any longer than I had to.”
“Amen to that.” You lift your drink up and you clink your glasses together. You had briefly considered grad school, but the though of dropping another few thousand dollars didn't sit right with you.
You ask Jean a few more questions and learn that he lives with two of his best friends from college, Connie Springer and Marco Bodt. Jean is an only child and frequently visits his parents in Trost. He played basketball and ran track when he was in high school, but gave up sports in college in favor of his studies – and an art club.
“An art club? For real?” You ask.
Jean chuckles. “You'd think science and art don't mix well, but I think they go hand-in-hand. I think there's something beautiful about human biology, so I used that for inspiration for a lot of my sketches.” He pauses and stares at you with a wistful gaze. “Anyways. What about you? What more should I know about you besides your perfect mouth?” Jean gives you a crooked smirk.
It's like a live wire flashes through you. It's strange, this combination of genuinely getting to know you – and suggestive flirting. This isn't exactly one-night stand behavior. You aren't sure what to expect, but you can't deny the magnetic pull toward Jean's mind and body.
You tell Jean about how you grew up in smaller town in the southern part of the region, but had always craved something bigger. You went to college in Jinae, a step up, but it still wasn't quite what you were looking for.
Jean perks up at this. “Jinae? Really? My roommate Marco grew up there. Any chance you know him?”
You shake your head. “Sorry, doesn't ring a bell. It's a big area.”
“Figured it was worth asking.” Jean places his chin on his hand. “So why didn't you stay in Jinae?”
“I, um,” you bite your bottom lip, wondering why you're about to confess this to a near stranger. And yet, there's a warmth and genuine curiosity about Jean that encourages you to open up. “I didn't have the easiest time making friends.” Jean tilts his head at you, silently asking for further explanation. “I had friends in classes and clubs, sure, but I rarely got an invite to hang out after class or on weekends.” Weekends were the bane of your existence in college. You had often wondered if you should transfer, but weren't willing to fill out the mountain of required paperwork. Your face burns, wondering what Jean thinks of your difficult time in college.
“So how'd you meet Pieck?” Jean picks up on your nerves and deftly moves the conversation forward. “It sounds like you two are pretty close.” Jean slurps down the last of his drink.
You explain that out of sheer boredom on weekends, during your senior year you signed up to volunteer to help maintain one of the campus wildflower gardens. Pieck was there too, and you two have been inseparable ever since. When she asked what your plans were after graduation, if you'd consider moving to the big city with her, and you jumped at the opportunity.
“Pieck is a spit fire,” you laugh and swirl your straw in your once again empty glass. “She keeps me alive.” You're not sure if it's the alcohol or Jean's gaze that warms you from head to toe.
“Sounds like someone else I know.” Jean winks. Under the table, his foot nudges yours and moves up and down, tracing the outline of your calf. Your insides shiver. “I'm done if you are,” Jean says as he shakes his glass, the ice chiming like a spring melody. “Want to get out of here and sober up a bit?”
“Definitely.”
~ ~ ~
Jean holds your hand and leads you down a winding stone path that connects to another right by the river. The two of you meander along the river and make idle chat. As a seasoned veteran of western Mitras, Jean gives you a fair amount of suggestions of places that you and Pieck can check out – coffee shops, bookstores, theaters, wine bars, etc.
“Oh, this is the best part,” he interrupts himself and pulls you across a bridge that matches the stone walkway. With his long legs, you have to half jog to keep up with Jean. He stops in the middle and leans back against the stone. You mirror him and take in the view of the city lights. It's like dancing fireflies in the night.
“This view is spectacular,” you breath.
“Yes, it is.”
You look up at Jean, but he's not looking at the city skyline. He's looking right at you. A sharp, spring wind cuts into you like a knife. You shiver and automatically lean in closer to Jean's body heat. You're close enough to smell his cologne – sandalwood?
Jean cups your face with his hand, and leans down to you. Your heart beat thunders as he draws closer and closer. He stops just inches away from your lips. You can see every shade of his earthy hazel eyes. Jean raises an eyebrow – a nonverbal question.
You smile and nod, closing your eyes.
Jean closes the gap.
The first kiss is soft, tentative.
Jean's other hand wanders to the back of your head, twisting his fingers in your hair. His grip is firm, yet gentle.
You place your hands on each of his arms, craving to touch his firm biceps without the jacket in the way.
Jean's tongue flicks to your lips, asking another nonverbal question.
You open your mouth, and his sweet and sour taste floods your senses. Your kisses grow hungrier. You're both desperate for more. Your hands wander up and down Jean's chest, begging to touch more, as are his, as he slips a warm hand under your dress, tracing your thighs while the other hand holds your hip.
Jean breaks away for a half second. “You taste as good as I imagined,” he murmurs and returns to your lips for more. “Better, actually,” he adds in between desperate kisses.
You pull away, head spinning.
You know exactly what you want, and given the look in Jean's eyes, you know what he wants too.
“Pieck is home tonight,” you gasp, trying to catch your breath. “Your place?”
Jean grimaces. “Marco and Connie have a few friends over.”
“Ah.” You slide your hands off Jean and look at the stone bridge beneath you. So much for ending with a bang – like Pieck said.
“Unless?” Jean raises an eyebrow and a mischievous look takes over his face.
~ ~ ~
“This is insane,” you giggle. Jean holds one of your hands while the other digs his keys out of his pocket and unlocks the door to the dental clinic. “Won't someone be able to see that you've used your key fob?”
“Nah,” Jean says and pulls you through the door with him. “Sasha's the only one can see it – and she never does. I could always ask her to erase the history from the security system if I really need.”
The clinic is completely dark, except for a few security lights. The only sounds are your nervous giggles and Jean's breath. “This looks completely different now.”
“You're about to get a whole new perspective,” Jean grins. “C'mon.” He leans down and grabs you by the waist to throw you over his shoulder. You shriek and laugh, both from surprise and that Jean is strong enough to throw you over his shoulder like you're a sack of flour.
Jean walks all the way down the hallway and opens the door to the last exam room. The one you two were in yesterday.
“I'm ready for you,” he whispers and turns the dimmed lights on while still holding on to you with one hand.
Jean lays you down on the exam chair. You take your leather jacket off and lie down on your back.
This is indeed an entirely different perspective.
Jean crawls on top of you and kisses you with intensity, your tongues hungry, searching for more. You run your hands through his ash brown hair that he probably spent hours getting just right. Jean's hand creeps up under your dress again, this time wandering all the way up to your rib cage. His thumb strokes just along your bra line. Jean wiggles his hand under your bra and squeezes your breast. He runs his thumb back and forth over your nipple. You give a small shudder. You only breath when Jean takes a short kissing break to nip at your bottom lip. He's pinned your legs together with his knees, forceful enough to make you shiver, gentle enough to let you know you can stop any time.
But you don't want to stop.
You want more of Jean.
You break away and trace the outline of his face with your finger, his scruff gently scratching back at you.
“There's something I want,” you whisper. You close your mouth and poke your tongue on the inside of your cheek, mirroring your actions from a previous appointment. Jean smirks in both surprise and wonder.
“You sure?” He asks as he undoes his belt buckle.
“Mmhmm.”
Jean unzips his pants and they fall to the ground, belt buckle clanging against the hard floor. His boxers fall to his knees.
“Open wide then, pretty baby.”
Jean grips the head piece of the exam chair and surges forward.
Enormous is the only way to describe the most intimate part of his body. Your eyes widen, unsure if he can fit in your mouth. No, there's no way.
But you're sure as hell going to try.
You stroke his dick up and down with tantalizing fingers. Jean groans, begging for more.
You lean forward slightly and lick the precum leaking from his tip. You run your tongue up and down his shaft. Jean twitches and moans louder in response.
“Be a good girl and take me,” he gasps.
You're more than happy to accept Jean's challenge.
You take in as much of Jean's dick as you can, sucking and salivating. Jean's groans turn guttural. His arms on either side of you shake and bulge.
You repeat the motions and use one hand to stroke the very last of him that you can't quite fit in your mouth. The bundle of nerves in between your legs flushes, wondering what Jean will feel like there.
“Hey. . .” Jean trails off in between moans, “I think I'm gonna-”
With Jean's warning, you lurch forward in attempt to swallow as much of him as you can.
Except when his tip nudges the back of your throat, your throat heaves. Your stomach jerks up to your throat. You involuntarily push Jean away and out of your mouth.
You turn your head away, mouth now empty, and cough up the saliva caught in your throat.
“Shit, you okay?” Jean lowers himself to make eye contact with you, his eyes frantic.
“I'm fine,” you sputter and wipe your mouth. His face softens.
“So you do have a sensitive gag reflex?”
“I told you!” You and Jean burst out laughing together at the ridiculous scene – the two of you tangled up together, breathless on a dental exam chair. “So you didn't. . .?”
“Not yet,” Jean winks. “You know, there's something I'd like as well.” He tugs at the hem of your dress. You lift up your arms up for Jean to take your dress off with ease. He tosses it to the ground.
Jean leans in for a few kisses, then trails his lips down your neck, your collarbone, and finally, to your breasts. Goosebumps prickling on your skin follow Jean's lips. He pauses at your breasts and savors them – taking one in his mouth and giving you a little nip.
A soft groan escapes your lips.
Jean looks up at you for a second, smirks and then bites a little harder as he marks your chest. He flicks your nipple back and forth with his tongue before continuing his descent.
Jean kisses your stomach all the way down to your hips, where he bites down. You squirm and gasp – a blur between ticklish and pleasure.
He continues his path of kisses, down, down, down. You barely register that Jean slips off your panties. He parts your thighs and places them on top of his shoulders, granting himself a full view of the most intimate part of your body.
“Beautiful,” he whispers before he peppers your inner thighs with kisses. A spark ignites in between your legs. Jean teases your slit with his tongue, running up and down. Your entire body is a single flame, begging for more kindling.
“Jean, please,” you beg as you run your hands through his hair.
“Please what?” He pauses his teasing to grin up at you.
“Please. . .” you trail off and sigh as Jean resumes his teasing. “Play with my clit,” you gasp.
“C'mon now, darlin',” he purrs. “Be a good girl and wait for me.”
Jean parts your lips with his fingers and pushes his tongue inside you and trails up to your clit – but only with feather light pressure.
You whimper, craving more. You squirm and buck your hips, physically begging Jean. He grabs your hips, restraining you. You begin to drip.
He finally obliges.
Jean swirls his tongue around your bundle of nerves.
You release a high-pitched gasp and dig your nails into his arms.
Your body blazes into a roaring fire.
Jean is relentless in his efforts to make you cum, and you're both soon rewarded.
“J – Jean, I – I – I -” you gasp.
You can't get a thought, let alone a sentence, out before you climax.
Your body explodes into a wildfire. Several waves of tension and relaxation roll through you. Jean grips harder onto your hips and digs deeper with his tongue, keeping you going as long as he can.
As the last wave of pleasure collapses over you, you arms spill off the sides of the exam chair. Every muscle, every cell in your body has melted from your wildfire. Sparks ripple through your fingertips and toes.
“Wow,” you breath, unable to string together a coherent thought.
“Ready for more?” Jean grins and places his dick right at your entrance, rubbing up and down your slit, wetting his tip from you.
You jerk up and prop yourself up on your elbows.
“Ah, wait, do you have-”
“Got it,” Jean answers and dives down to his pants to grab an unwrapped condom from his pocket.
“You came prepared,” you huff, still unable to return to your normal voice.
“Always am,” he gives you a sly smirk. “Uh, although,” he pauses, giving his statement a second thought. “Not that I always do this. You're the only person I've ever brought here,” he stammers, his earthy hazel eyes widening.
“Good.” You find Jean's back and forth bravado and awkward nerves endearing. You take the half-opened condom from him. You rip it all the way open and hand it back to him.
“I'm patiently waiting for you. Get it, because I'm also your patient?” You chuckle at your own bad joke and lie back down on the table, legs open.
“Yes, I get it,” Jean rolls his eyes and returns your smile as he rolls the condom on. “Are you ready for me?” He whispers, hovering over you, and kisses the shell of your ear.
“Ready.”
He nudges his tip at your entrance. Your lips part and stretch, making way for his length.
“All good?” He whispers. You nod and bite your lower lip in anticipation. “I'll go slow. Let me know if it hurts.”
“Mm'kay,” you breath as he sinks deeper into you. You grimace slightly as your walls adjust to his length. Jean pauses and raises his eyebrows at you. “Keep going,” you command and place your hands on his ass, urging him to melt deeper into you.
Jean obeys, sinking more and more until he's all the way inside you. He pumps slowly, glancing at you every so often to let you control his pace. Jean sighs with every stroke, worshiping your body as his hands wander and praise every inch of you. You release a mewl as his dick reaches your most sensitive spot, making your insides curl with pleasure.
“Right there, hmm?” Jean pumps harder and faster with a new desperation. He lifts your hips at a slight angle, closer to him – Jean can't get enough of you. He dives for your neck, sucking and biting, muffling his rising groans. “Need more,” he growls.
Without warning, he lifts you up off the chair and you curl around him like a koala, as if by second nature. You're slammed against the nearest wall, Jean still holding you by your thighs, and fucks you against the wall. You cling to him and rest your chin on his shoulder. His weight against you forces a breathy moan with every powerful stroke. Jean's dick reaches deep inside you, a spot you didn't even know existed releasing heat throughout your body. You rake your nails up and down his back as he rails into you over and over again.
“Soon,” he pants.
Curious, you lift your chin off Jean's shoulder and find his hazel eyes glazed over, drunk on you. His mouth is parted and a bead of sweat drips down his temple.
You give Jean a crooked smirk, and that pretty smile of yours is what pushes him over the edge.
He releases a moan of purse ecstasy, and chants your name like a prayer. His arms shake, but still hold you firm against the wall. You know he won't drop you until he's completely finished spilling into you.
After several final strokes, Jean carries you back over to the exam chair and collapses back on top of you. He rests his head on your breasts and you rhythmically stroke his ash brown hair.
As you both catch you breath, Jean looks back up at you with a devilish grin.
“So,” he starts and runs his pointer finger along your lips. “When do I get to see that pretty mouth again?”
“Definitely sooner than six months,” you say and nip at his finger.
“Good. I do want to see you again,” Jean confirms. “Outside the office. Very unprofessionally.”
“I think we can arrange another appointment,” you tease. “As long as I'm your star patient.”
“You are certainly the best patient I've ever had.”

previous part linked here
“So we can’t drive because…”
“He likes to drink. Like, an insane amount.”
“What does that have to do with us?”
You and Eren were currently swinging your feet on the green bench, the train station bustling in front of you. The two of you were riding into the city to meet with your landlord today. Kenny Ackerman. You were officially being added to the lease. But apparently, it was a bigger ordeal than just signing the papers.
You’d thought against it originally. Signing a very legal, very binding agreement to live with Eren, to stay with him for the foreseeable future. It didn’t seem like the best idea, given how the two of you were as of late. Awkward, distant, aimless.
If you had things your way, you would have been moving out, you would have never even been his roommate in the first place. You had even tried apartment hunting again, just to get away from Eren. For good.
The second you tried, you immediately remembered the reason you had to live with Eren in the first place. The options were hardly to die over. Hole in the wall, bathtub for a bed, your old physics professor.
You were stuck with Eren, whether you liked it or not. And that meant you had to go, convince Kenny Ackerman you were ‘worthy of living in the apartment’ (Eren’s words, not yours), and then sign the lease.
Eren had been coaching you for a better part of the morning, this conversation being the longest the two of you had talked in the past few weeks.
Some part of talking to him was becoming easier. The two of you weren’t exactly having the conversations you had before, but it was civil. Nice even. It was the only reason you were able to stomach this entire thing.
“I would never drive you home drunk, Y/N.”
“I could have driven us home.”
“Trust me. He can be very convincing.”
Eren had been coaching you on everything you needed to know about Kenny. Don’t call him Mr. Ackerman, he will hate you. If Kuchel, his sister, is there then make sure that you call her Mrs. Ackerman. Don’t call her Kuchel until she tells you to call her Kuchel. The sooner she says that, the better. Make sure to drink anything he offers you, the pink lemonade smells bad but it’s not too horrible. If his nephew is there, don’t make eye contact unless he makes it with you first.
He was somehow more nervous introducing you to his landlord (and his landlord’s family??) than introducing you to his own parents. Granted, they kind of put a pin in that entire thing, but he seemed way more at ease then than he did right now.
You can see the timer on the screen, signaling that the next train would be here in less than a minute. You nudge his shoulder and the two of you jump off the bench, hesitantly linking arms as you push through the crowd in front of you.
The second the doors slide open, everyone pushes forward, very quickly sliding into every available seat on the train. This left you and Eren to share a single pole to hold onto as the train started moving. You secure your knuckles right under his, the two of you standing in silence, less than a foot away from each other. He leans down, his face even closer than it was before and he whispers into your ear.
“Brace your feet.”
“I know how to stand on a train, Eren.”
He doesn’t respond right away and you turn to find him looking down at the ground, avoiding meeting your gaze. You were just kidding. But then again, you did yell at him last week, so how is he supposed to know the difference?
“Six stops. Then we’ll get off.”
You nod, bracing your feet against the ground as the train starts moving. The train is stuffy, warm, and way over capacity. You can smell the girl standing directly next to you’s perfume, the prune smell so strong it was making your head spin. But worse than the smell was the heat, the congregation of people making the air congested, your hair sticking to the back of your neck from the sweat.
The two of you are pressed against each other, standing awkwardly. In silence. You did that a lot lately. This thing between the two of you was…delicate. You’re not sure what it is but the usual comfort, ease that you and Eren had was all but eliminated, left with this quietness. If you made a joke, it was lost to him entirely. If he said something that caught you off guard, you usually avoided responding by leaving the room. You had shouted at him and he made fun of you, so that didn’t leave much room for comfort.
The train quickly lurches, slowing down all of a sudden. You quickly lose your footing, stumbling in the air as the train stops completely. Before you can fall, Eren secures his hand against your waist, stabilizing you in the air as the train comes to a full stop. You watch a few people get off the train and switch with those getting on, your breath still shaky from losing your balance.
You feel him lean down, his head directly next to yours as he whispers in your ear, again. His hand is still secured around your waist, holding you steady. Even though the train wasn’t moving.
“So when I said brace your feet, I basically meant-”
“Shut up, Eren.”
“We should get a leash for the ride back. Lock you up real nice so you won’t move.”
“Perfect! We can use after too, when I have to drag your drunk ass home.”
The two of you are laughing, readjusting yourself against the pole as the train starts again. His hands are still holding you steady and you can feel your cheeks flushing pink. From the heat. Obviously.
There’s always moments like this - ones where it feels like nothing’s changed at all. You try not to think too hard about them. They’ve always gotten you in trouble.
He tightens his grip on your waist every time the train lurches and stops, for all five of the stops. You avoid the pounding in your chest, which only stops when you both hop off the train at the end of the line.
As you wait for Eren to pay for the return tickets, you spot a tiny black kitten, just at the end of the sidewalk. You immediately run down, nuzzling the tiny little cat as you pet it. As you breathe in the air, you immediately sneeze twice, your eyes watery from the sensation. You immediately hear the sound of a camera clicking, to find Eren standing over you, his phone in hand.
“What was that for?”
“Two kitties!”
“Ew.”
He holds his hand out, pulling you up as the two of you walk down the block to Kenny’s apartment. Your hands are at your side, lightly brushing against Eren’s every time he leans over, making room for the other people on the sidewalk. The sun is setting on top of the buildings, the air slightly chilled. The two of you stop, standing directly on Kenny’s porch. He glances over, giving you one last look.
“Why are you so nervous, Eren?”
“He can be really weird. And he’s going to grill you. Just- we have to bear with him to keep the rent the way it is and live together so, just don’t blow it, okay?”
“I really appreciate your vote of confidence, Eren. Your faith in me is rejuvenating”
“That’s- shut up, you know that’s not what I meant.”
The two of you give each other a smile, as Eren turns to the side and knocks on the door.
“Why didn’t you ring the doorbell?” you whisper.
“His doorbell is La Cucaracha.” he responds.
The door swings open and you’re greeted with three faces staring down at you - identical sets of jet black hair and gray eyes glistening in the lamplight of the street. At the sight of you, their faces all visibly droop, as they all welcome you in.
“He looks too young for you, Levi. And he brought a pretty girl.”
“Those are the tenants, Mom. Not Erwin.”
The two of them shuffle down the hall, pushing past into the room.
“Kenny Ackerman. You must be Eren’s new roommate.”
“Yes, that’s me. It’s so nice to meet you.”
You hold your hand out, him nearly jostling your entire body as he shakes your hand. He idles down the hallway to where the other two had gone, leaving you and Eren in the walkway. You whisper to Eren as the two of you hang your coats on the rack.
“They hate me already.”
“That’s not true. Kuchel called you pretty.”
You roll your eyes, the two of you awkwardly shuffling into the living room, where the three of them were sitting across from you. It’s only then that you can get a better look at them and realize that you know one of them. Levi. Your old physics professor. The one who you cried to about not having a roommate that took pity on you and let you sleep in his house.
“Hi Professor Levi. It’s been a while.”
“I see you’ve found a roommate. I can’t believe you found a place to live in one week.”
“I thought you said the two of you had been living together for a few months, Eren.”
“We have, Kenny.”
“Ah, right. I was just looking around at other apartments for the past week just to see if anything popped up on the market. And they didn’t. So I’m here.”
Eren ducks his head down, the expression on his face dark. He whispers into your ear as the three of them start chattering, still discussing Erwin.
“What? You want to move out?”
“No, no. I was just looking. It must be awkward for you to live with a girl who isn’t your girlfriend, you know?”
He leans over, his eyes teetering between annoyed and irritated.
“She’s not my girlfriend. I don’t know how many times I have to tell you that.”
The doorbell rings, throwing you and Eren out of the conversation you were having. You watch the three of them jump up and rush to the door, fixing their hair and their clothes as they make it to the door. You and Eren stand up, peeking your heads down the hallway as you watch the three of them greet Erwin. Your old political science professor.
First Levi now Erwin too? You can feel your cheeks burning from embarrassment, remembering that you had actually cried to the two of them twice - the first time to Levi when you were jumping houses and he agreed to let you stay with them and a second time when Erwin offered you an extra pillow before you went to sleep.
“Hello. I’m Erwin Smith.”
“Eren Yeager. This is my roommate, Y/N.”
“Ah, Y/N. How are you? You figured out your living situation fast!”
You don’t miss Eren glaring daggers at you out of the corner of your eye as you give Levi and Erwin an awkward smile, shaking your sweaty palms against their hands.
“Okay kid. You and Kuchel should go fix the dinner with Erwin in the kitchen. I have to talk to these two here.”
Why are you and Eren here the first time Levi’s family is meeting his long term boyfriend?
You look over to Eren whose irritation has very quickly been replaced with nervousness. Kenny is staring the two of you down, the two of you squished together on his very tiny couch.
“So. You go to Shiganshina?”
You feel your voice tangle in your throat, suddenly intimidated by Kenny staring you down. You can hear Eren’s voice echoing in your head, his angry look seared in your mind, your voice not coming out. He’s going to grill you. Don’t blow it.
“Yes. She’s an Applied Kinesiology major. She’s very smart.”
You look over, silently thanking the gods that Eren answered for you.
“Can you pay rent?”
“She has been, for the past two months.”
He nods, leaning over the table as he stares you down.
“I’ll give you a situation. Respond accordingly.”
You nod, clenching your hands into little fists against the couch.
“You just got off of work. You’re really tired but you have to stop by the store to get groceries. You’ve purchased them all. What do you do after?”
You look over at Eren, giving him a weary stare. What the fuck kind of question is that? Is there even a right answer to this?
“Well, I would leave the store. And take my cart, if I had one, to my car. I’d probably put my stuff away, return the cart, and then just drive home, put everything in the fridge and the cabinets.”
He nods, taking in your answer as he leans back in his chair. “Do you like Eren?”
“What?”
“As a roommate.”
“Oh. Right. Yeah, he’s great.”
“Why did you start rooming with him?”
You can’t lie. It seems wrong to tell him that your old roommates chose not to room with you for the next year - he was sure to not think you were a good fit if you said that. But if he found out you were lying, it would be even worse.
“Well you see, she-”
“I asked her, Eren.”
You feel him move his knee, pressing his against yours as his fingers curl around your hand. You feel him squeeze your hand twice, his green eyes warm as he looks at you. Right. You can do this.
“I used to live with a few of my friends last year. I didn’t really know, but they had picked other arrangements without telling me, so I was left without a roommate for around a week. Eren was nice enough to offer me the empty spot in his room so I didn’t have to jump around from my friends' places every night.”
He stares the two of you down. You’re rubbing circles into the back of Eren’s hand, the two of you holding your breaths as you wait for his response.
“Sucks. Kids are bitches.”
You both squeeze, trying your best not to smile.
“Yeah.”
“If you kids start dating, you can't be loud at night. You’ll piss off the neighbors. You can sign the lease after dinner. You passed.”
He gets up off the couch, his distinct smoke smell leaving the room with him. You turn to Eren, the two of you smiling at each other as you lift your hands to high five. Eren holds your hand in the air, shaking your hand excitedly.
“You passed, kitty.”
“Where are we right now? Do you smell that? How does it smell like smoke and laundry at the same time? And what the fuck kind of question was that? I thought I was going to vomit. ”
“Weird guy. Nice rent rates, though.”
“And Levi. He’s my physics professor. I literally had a crush on him. And his boyfriend, he was my political science professor too. I even stayed over at their house once. This is about to be super weird.”
“Why did you stay at their house?”
“I didn’t have a place to stay! This was before you offered, when I was jumping houses.”
“Were they loud at night?”
“Ew. Don’t put that thought in my head. I’m going to vomit.”
“Save it for later.”
“As if. I can hold my drink. Trust me.”
 -
You and Eren are seated directly across from Levi and Erwin at the dinner table, Kuchel and Kenny taking the heads of the tables at the ends. A large part of this feels like you and Eren are intruding on a very special moment, but you ignore that and dig into the food.
Right. For some reason, Kenny picked Thanksgiving food for the menu. In the middle of September. Like full on turkey dinner, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce.
“So, do you like Thanksgiving, Kenny?”
“I hate fascism, Y/N. No, I do not like Thanksgiving.”
You look over at Eren, trying your best to contain your laughter, as Kenny goes on, rambling about something you’re not quite sure about. Everything Eren said was slowly starting to fall into place - you really can’t turn down drinks from the guy. He’d already made you try three different drinks he made and you had only been here for an hour. And the pink lemonade was actually disgusting, Eren’s just a liar.
Kuchel turns to the two of you, flashing you both a big smile.
“Say Eren. You never told us you got a pretty girlfriend.”
You and Eren both choke on your food, clearing your throats.
“Ah. I’m not Eren’s girlfriend. We just live together. Friends.”
“Uh huh. Right. What a shame. You two are so sweet together. Sharing your sweet little smiles, playing footsie under the table.”
You immediately drag your foot off of Eren’s under the table, embarrassed that she had caught that. Every time Levi rolled his eyes, Eren tapped your foot to get your attention, the two of you trying not to laugh. It’s not your fault that rolling his eyes is basically like blinking to Levi.
“Ma. Leave them alone, yeah? They’re just kids, they don’t know what they feel.”
“I have to agree with Lee’ here, Mrs. Ackerman. Surely, they just haven’t reached that stage yet.”
“You call Levi Lee’, Erwin? That’s so sweet. Oh you two are just perfect and I-”
The four of you five of you watch Kuchel burst into tears, taking turns pressing kisses to everyone's cheeks at the table. You and Eren included. When she sits down, Eren leans over, whispering in your ear.
“She’s like Annie on hour five of being drunk.”
“More like hour one.”
You both laugh, silently eating your food as you watch them interact with each other again. Some parts of it feel like a reality tv show. Kenny’s is downright ridiculous - he’s been hurling out whatever comes to his mind. He told Eren that he seemed like the type to commit genocide in another life and then told Erwin that he would be a corrupt military man.
Kuchel is sweet. Almost two sweet. She spent a large majority of the night crying, telling baby stories about Levi when he was a kid. You don’t miss the way Levi’s ears turn red when she confesses that Levi used to be scared of the toilet when he was younger.
Best of all are Levi and Erwin. You don’t miss the glances between them - the silent communication they had going on at the table. It’s like the rest of you weren’t even here. That’s where you think Eren got the idea, the tapping on the feet. A signal that you were going to talk laugh about it later.
Eight drinks in and Kenny is blasting music, doing a solo interpretive dance to Etta James. You and Levi are in one corner with Kuchel, Erwin, and Eren in the other.
“I can’t believe this guy is your uncle. Did you ever do a DNA test?”
“Hundreds.”
You turn your neck to find Levi, staring across Erwin on the other side of the room. You follow his gaze, watching Kuchel pinch Eren’s cheeks and Erwin laugh at the two of them.
“What’s your deal?”
“What do you mean?”
“With Eren. You like him right?”
You look down into your cup, the opaque liquid staring back at you. Erwin had made you a fruity drink, to which Kenny responded “everything about this guy is fruity!”
“Yeah.”
“He doesn’t like you back?”
“No.”
“I didn’t like Erwin at first. He was too much - pretentious, arrogant, irrational at times.”
“But?”
“But, he was my best friend. At some point, all the love and admiration I had for him just became something more. Like, yeah, he was my favorite person to be around but then I wanted to be around him all the time. Tell him the good things, the bad things. Share something with him, anything, everything. I…I didn’t hate myself when I was with him.”
You smile, squeezing Levi’s shoulder in your hands.
“That’s sweet, Levi. I’m happy for you.”
He gives you a small smile, turning his neck back to look at them across the hall.
“Be his friend. Maybe he’ll come around.”
 -
Six drinks in and Eren is feeling buzzed. He was trying his best to pace himself, make sure he was sane enough to take you home at the end of the night. He could tell by the glazed look in your eyes that you were getting there, close to being fully plastered.
He turns his neck, scanning for you around the room. You kept disappearing. But there you were, directly across from him, leaning against the wall from Levi. He meets your eyes and you give him a soft smile, accompanied with a tiny wave. His heart’s pounding.
“Do you like her, Eren? Oh please say that you do.”
Kuchel is squeezing his shoulders, her eyes lighting up in excitement.
“Yeah. Maybe a little bit.”
“Oh, oh, oh. You have to tell her. Don’t let her get away now!”
“Ah, I tried. She doesn’t like me.”
He watches her face droop, Erwin shaking his head in the air. Both of their cheeks are flushed pink, the cups they were holding shaking in their hands. Surely the only people who were at least somewhat sober were you and Eren, which was saying a lot.
“You know, Eren. I knew Levi was the one the moment I saw him.”
“Really?”
“I liked him so much, I wanted him around. In whatever sense that means. Even if he only wanted to be my friend.”
“He didn’t want to be with you?”
“Oh no, he loathed me. Like full of hatred.”
“And that didn’t…bother you?”
“Maybe a little bit, but we became friends after that. And I just wanted him around. Whatever way he would have me. Even just being his friend, getting to see him everyday, that was enough for me.”
Eren cranes his neck back over, where Kenny has his arms slung around you and Levi. He’s forcing the two of you to sign with him - Levi looking downright murderous while you flash Kenny a polite smile.
“Just be her friend, Eren. Maybe she’ll come around like Levi did.”
 -
You can’t hold your drink. Obviously. But Eren knew that already. He had been watching you for a better part of the last hour, your inhibitions absent. Erwin had made you yet another fruit themed drink, which you were all too happy to down. The second he saw the glass hit your hand, he’d focused all of his best efforts in trying to sober up, calm the thrill running through his blood.
You had made your way back over to him after some time, the two of you on the couch. You were leaning your head against his shoulder, your breaths heavy and uneven. At the sight of Kenny - who was now singing with Kuchel on the table - you suddenly perk up, your hands pressed against his shoulders as you lean over him.
“Eren.”
“Hm, peaches?”
“I have a plan.” you whisper, your eyes somewhere between delirious and devious.
“Uh huh. What’s that?”
“You and I should sign the lease now. Then mail the letters. That way, we can leave and Kenny can’t get mad because we basically did him a favor. We’ll just tell Levi in case he asks.” you whisper, a smile spreading across your face.
You’re drunk out of your mind. Not that Eren himself isn’t drunk either, he can certainly feel the buzz he was trying to will away living, but he’s not as gone as you.
“Genius idea.”
“I know right!”
He was being sarcastic, but you had already jumped off the couch, to where Levi and Erwin were standing in the corner. He quickly follows, catching up to balance you as you stumble over to where the two of them were standing.
“So. Levi. Right, hi Levi.”
He’s mentally debating if he should stop you. You are very plastered and could potentially say something embarrassing. But there’s something so funny, so endearing about the determined little look on your face that he decides against it, letting you go on.
“You’re a man.”
He watches the confusion spread across Levi’s already strained face, his eyes flitting between you and Eren.
“And you, Erwin, are a man too. You two are men.”
“That’s correct, Y/N. You’re very perceptive.”
Eren tries his best to conceal his laughter, as you go on, talking to the two of them. You’re definitely worse than Annie.
“Marriage. It’s a thing, you know? And a man can do it. And a woman can too. And you are a man and he is a man and you can both do that. And we want to come to that. Like go to there.”
How did you get from talking about the lease to marriage?
“Eren. What is she going on about?”
“We’re going to sign the lease papers and mail them on our way out so we can leave. We have to be up early tomorrow and she literally cannot drink more. We were going to ask if you could let Kenny know tomorrow and tell him to be easy on us.”
“You drive here?”
“No. Train. We’ll be fine to get back, Levi. I got her.”
He nods. Eren doesn’t miss the look Erwin and Levi give each other as the two of you lock hands, tip-toeing into Kenny’s office. Of course Erwin told him.
The two of you quickly rush out, laughing as you run down the block before any of them notice. You slow down as you pass the corner, the two of you strolling the rest of the way down the block back to the train station. He can tell you’re winding down by the way you’re leaning against him, skipping steps.
The train car is empty, this being the last train leaving the station. He settles the two of you into the seats at the front, getting in first.
“Ren. Can I have the window?”
He nods, wordlessly changing seats with you. This seat’s better anyways. You look out the window. And he can look at you.
You lean over, your eyes drooping as you lean over. He’s not sure what it is, maybe Kenny’s rancid tequila is still running through his bloodstream, but he locks his hand with yours, pressing his fingers against the scar in between your knuckles.
“I…miss you, Y/N. Being your friend.”
He watches your expression drop, your eyes fluttering fully open.
“You don’t think we’re friends?”
“No! I mean, yes. I just didn’t realize you thought we were still friends. After everything that happened, the fight we had I just kind of- I don’t know.”
You’re quiet for some time and he can see the gears moving in your head. Your eyes are now pinched shut, your forehead scrunched in concentration. Maybe this was the right time to say this. Hopefully, you don’t even remember tomorrow.
“Are we in second grade, Ren? Do you really not think we’re friends?”
Of course. The words he said to you, the day you were sick.
“We are still friends. I just meant, it was different for the past few days. But today, this was…nice. I enjoyed it.”
You smile in response, the two of you leaning your heads against the back of the seats, the only sound being the whirring of the train behind you.
“Y/N. You wouldn’t really move out, would you?”
“I was hoping you forgot about that. It’s my fault. I kind of…get in my head sometimes, I don’t know.”
“About?”
“I thought you didn’t want me around. So I didn’t want to be around you. I thought you hated me or something.”
“Y/N. Look at me.”
His eyes are dark, the same way as when Levi mentioned you were looking for another roommate.
“I could never hate you.”
“I know, I just meant-”
“No. You clearly don’t know.”
You turn over to find an irritated look plastered on his face, his jaw clenched shut. You press your fingers against his shoulder, squeezing twice to get his attention. He flutters his eyes open, leaning down to look at you.
“You’re special to me. I don’t understand what I did that made you think I would ever make fun of you or hate you. You...piss me off when you say stuff like-”
He’s cut off by you placing your hand on his cheek, your eyes peering into his.
“Sorry, Ren.’
“S’okay. I know why you do it. But just remember, I’m not your stupid old roommates or your lame ex-boyfriend or anyone who ever made you feel that way. You and I are-”
“Friends.”
Not what he quite had in mind, but he’ll take it.
“Yeah. You can tell me anything.”
“Okay. You too.”
He sees you smile, your eyes wafting shut against his shoulders. He can feel the pit in his stomach burning, the exact same way it did every time you did something. When you smiled at him, fixed his hair, got him coffee. God, he still loves you.
“So Ren. Do you want to hang out after recess?”
“Shut up. You’re so corny, kitty.”
“Ew.”
The next morning, Eren makes you breakfast and you sing in the shower. Progress.

I Wish I Hated You (Levi Ackerman x Reader)
Tumblr media
story summary: You don't do second chances. Especially after you gave your heart to Levi Ackerman, and he decided to throw it away so the next person has to repair the damage. Will Levi put his ego aside and finally admit his feelings for you are far deeper than you imagined? Or is a second chance out of the question?

C H A P T E R E I G H T : T O M O R R O W
WARNING: explicit scenes in this chapter!! let me know what you think :)
Levi lead you into his living room that you were all too familiar with. His expression was... blank. You couldn't tell if he was sad, mad, or anything in between.
You sit on the couch opposite to the chair he's sitting in. "Levi, I-"
"You should know this," Levi looks down. "I'm not the best at... well, talking. My mother is someone who was... so special to me."
"Levi." You press your hand on top of his. "I'm here to listen."
Levi sighs as he sits back in his chair. "My mother and I grew up poor. Like, dirt poor." Levi started talking. It feels like it's been forever since you and him had an actual conversation instead of just arguing. "We were couch surfing and squatting in abandoned houses. Then, she got sick. We don't know what it was since we couldn't afford to go to a doctor. We couldn't even afford food. I was starving every day. Dreaming of bread." Levi looks down. "One day, she wouldn't even attempt to get out of bed. Or even talk to me. I remember her telling me about her brother, my uncle, and I had his phone number written down. I begged the corner store to let me use their phone, and thankfully they let me."
Your heart sinks thinking of how lonely Levi felt. How he was lacking basic needs.
"I called Kenny and he came and stayed with my mother during her last moments. I stood on the other side of her with my hand in hers. I remember her saying, 'Kenny, please take care of my Levi.' The pressure I was feeling from her hand suddenly just... disappeared. My mother's body was still there, but her soul was gone."
Tears start to well up in your eyes. Levi's eyes were glued to the floor as he spoke, his deep voice cracking when he spoke of the final moments with his mother.
"Then I went and lived with Kenny. Which... wasn't the best either. He fed me, but he wanted me to learn to fend for myself. I would cause fights in school and Kenny had to beg them to let me stay." Levi cleared his throat. "He didn't know how to be a parent. I don't blame him. His sister died and left behind me. My father, who the hell knows who he is - Kenny felt he had no choice. But he did have a choice. He could've just-"
"Levi, he could not just leave you."
"He could've."
"But he didn't. You're his nephew, I'm sure he saw you and saw some of himself."
"Well, when I turned 18, he left. He told me I was an adult now and I had to figure life out. I was being... well, to put it lightly, a delinquent when I met Erwin. He's a tall, well kept man and I wanted to steal from him. He looked like he had money so he was the perfect target. For whatever reason, he wanted to be my friend. He's been in my life ever since." Levi finally looked at you. "He opened his home to me. He fed me. He taught me the ways of being a business man."
You didn't know how deep Erwin and Levi's friendship was. They're bonded brothers.
His mother left, Kenny left - no wonder he likes to leave. Must be an Ackerman thing.
You stared into Levi's eyes - watching the storm brew. Your heart sank as you explored his face, your feelings for him resurfacing.
"Now you know why I am the way I am." Levi put his hands on his knees. "I don't blame you if you want to leave."
"Levi." You walk over to his chair, slowly sitting on his lap. "Do you want me to leave?" You gently wrap your arms around him.
"I think you want to -"
"Answer my question." You grab his chin, pulling his face towards you. "Do you want me to leave?"
"No." Levi shook his head. "I never want you to leave."
You felt like there was life brought back to you. The piece of your heart that broke off when you left Levi mended back to you.
"We have to start over then." You caress his face gently. You wanted to just hold him during this vulnerable moment. "Like, we're going on dates. Almost like we were never together."
"Hm?" Levi tilted his head. "But we did date... for 2 years."
"Levi. Do you want to make this work or no?"
"I do."
"Then we're starting over. I don't want us to jump back into this and make the same mistakes."
Levi nods, letting his hand rest on your thigh. "Are you sure you don't want to leave? I'm giving you an out."
"Levi Ackerman." Theres attitude in your voice. "If I wanted to leave, I would. I have before - remember?"
"I'm sorry I made you leave."
"Shhh." You pull Levi into your chest, letting him lean on you. You felt his eyelashes flutter on your skin as he closed his eyes. His breath is slow and you know he's listening to your heartbeat. He's always loved cuddling in your chest and feeling your beating heart. Levi starts to bury his face in your breasts, his hands traveling up to your waist.
"Hey," You giggle as Levi grabs your left breast with his large hand. "Levi, this isn't the right time to be-"
"Sh." Levi demanded. His fingers pulled your shirt over your head, revealing your plump breasts. They bounced as they were released from the captivity of your shirt and Levi is mesmerized. He brought his lips to your right tit, sucking on your skin roughly as he squeezed the other. You throw your head back at the contact. Levi has always loved your chest and he likes to take his time there when he can.
"This isn't a part of starting over." You breathe.
"We can start over tomorrow." Levi mumbled as he unclipped your bra without looking. His mouth attached to your nipple, sucking it gently. You feel the wetness in your pants already as Levi sucks, bites, and licks all over your tits.
Levi sits you on the chair, his large hands trailing down your upper body to the buttons of your jeans. He's on his knees now as he pulls your pants off, throwing them across the room. "My favorites." Levi hums at the sight of your black lace panties. "Too bad they're coming off." Levi almost rips the panties off of you, revealing your soaked pussy.
He marvels for a moment, watching your arousal leak from you. You throw your head back as your core starts to throb. "Levi-" He cuts you off by inserting his tongue inside you. You gasp as you feel his tongue exploring your pussy, finding your clit soon after. Levi wraps his hands around your thighs as he devours you, his lips squelching against your core.
Levi wraps his lips around your clit, sucking gently as he inserts two fingers into you. You bury your hands in his hair, pushing his face farther into you. You felt him smile as you pulled on his hair, something he's always loved. He pumped his fingers in and out of you quickly while his mouth was solely focused on your clit.
"I could eat this pussy all day." Levi hummed, the vibration from his words only adding to your pleasure. "This pretty little pussy."
"Levi." You moan, wrapping your legs around him as your toes begin to curl.
"I love when you moan my name." His fingers started to pump faster as your walls began to pulsate. "Can you come on my fingers, princess?"
You nod silently as you feel the high quickly approaching. Your chest feels tight as the world begins to fade away, leaving only you and Levi. His tongue lapped your dripping arousal as you reached your high. Levi doesn't stop though, he keeps sucking on your clit until he wants to be done. You came on his fingers, his mouth - practically his entire face.
"Levi, I need you inside of me." You whine.
"You want my cock inside of you, my princess?"
"God, yes." You nod. Levi's mouth leaves your pussy and he picks you up and lays you on the couch gently. His shirt is off quickly, along with his belt and pants.
You watch his cock spring out of his pants. Every time you see it, you're mesmerized.
"Are you sure?"
"We'll start over tomorrow." You nod a Levi's arms are on either side of you. You feel the tip of his cock at your slit, easily sliding in due to your arousal. Levi lets out a husky moan as he feels your gummy walls wrapping around his cock.
"You were made for me." Levi starts thrusting into you. "This pussy fits me so perfectly."
"Baby, it's all yours." You stare into Levi's eyes. He presses his lips to yours roughly, leaving sloppy kisses as he thrusts inside you faster. You wrap your arms around his neck as he watches his length disappear inside of you, stretching your walls. You'll never get used to his size, no matter how many times you fuck.
"Princess, I need you to come again. Before me." Levi grunted as he slammed into you. He attaches his lips to the side of your neck, biting and sucking until your skin is purple. He then brings his fingers to your clit, rubbing it gently.
You throw your head back, feeling your walls pulsate once again. Levi's thrusts start to become uneven as he feels you grip him, which means he's close.
"I'm not coming before you." Levi rubs circles on your clit. Your toes curl as Levi is almost overstimulating you - but that high comes back.
"Levi." You practically yell as the hardest high of your life hits you. You see stars as Levi slams into you again and again.
"Where should I come?" Levi whispered.
"Inside." You whisper in his ear, which causes him to lose all the control he had left. He coats your insides with him as he comes, gripping your hips tightly. Levi fills you up with his cum and somehow there is still more.
Levi pulled out slowly and you whine at the now void. He pulls his pants on and grabbing a towel from his hallway closet and helping you clean up.
"So... tomorrow?"
"Tomorrow." You press your lips to his gently, letting your worries melt away.

Lilly giggled as you painted her face to make her look like a bunny. "Mummyyy."
You smiled at her. "I know, but I'm almost done." You pulled back from her. "All done."
Your four-year-old ran to the mirror and gazed at herself. "Bunny!"
You giggled. "That's right." You stood up and offered your hand. "Shall we show Daddy?"
She grabbed your hand tightly. "Yes!"
You walked over to Levi dressing up your baby girl, Daisy, in a sweet little onesie. "Honey?"
Levi glanced over. "Almost ready." He lifted Daisy up and walked over. "Here we are, one little bunny done!"
You giggled at seeing your baby dressed as a bunny. "She looks perfect and matches her sister!"
Lilly jumped out. "Ta-dah!"
Levi leaned down and kissed her forehead. "You look perfect. You ready to go support your aunties?"
She nodded. "Uh-huh!"
He hummed a laugh. "Come on, my little bunnies. Time to go."
Daisy ran ahead. "Go, go, go!"
"She's full of beans, huh?"
You rubbed his back as you worked. "She is. She gets that from me."
"She does." He smiled. "Makes me happy."
As a family, you made your way to Levi's car and put the kids in. Levi drove through the town and towards the city as Lilly talked to her baby sister. Daisy just babbled back to her causing a sweet moment between the two sisters.
Levi managed to park up at where he worked. He was CEO of a tea and coffee company that also made biscuits and cookies. Levi was an incredible boss and his products were so addictive, just like him.
When he parked, he strapped Daisy to him while you carried Lilly. You walked out of the parking area to a nice spot on the parade route that was reserved for his company. Levi and Erwin also paid for a float and donated to charities that were at the front of this year's parade.
Levi and Erwin had big hearts. They were strong allies and strongly believed that love is love. As long as it is legal and you're not hurting anyone, you can love who you love. Levi wouldn't know what he'd do if someone said he couldn't love you. Plus, his friends meant a lot to him.
While waiting you were slowly joined by your friends. It was lovely to see everyone together. The younger ones were part of the parade, but the vets hung out together sharing drinks and snacks. Hange was with her lovely husband Moblit. Mike was with his girlfriend and Erwin had brought his wife along. It was nice to gather together and celebrate your friends.
Lilly waved and accepted pretty stickers from people in the parade. You laughed when a drag queen kissed Levi on the cheek. A lot of people were making a fuss about Levi and Erwin because they were so handsome. You couldn't blame them because you fussed over Levi and Erwin's wife fussed over him.
Eventually, Historia was in view with her Queen outfit with Ymir at her side. You all waved and cheered for them. You were all happy for them and couldn't believe how stunning they looked. You danced with Lilly as you enjoyed the music on the float. Even Levi started dancing with Daisy. He lifted her arms and waved gently at Historia.
The parade slowly died down and a few of you were going to a diner later that you'd hired out. You all gathered together and waited for your friends in the parade to join you. As soon as your friends entered you cheered for them and waved rainbow flags.
Historia hurried to you and Levi. "Thank you so much! The float was even better than last year. Levi, you're wonderful."
He played with Daisy's feet. "Don't mention it. You're wonderful friends of ours. You deserve happiness and to be proud of who you are."
Lilly gasped. "Are you a Queen?"
Historia giggled. "Only for a day."
"You are so pretty!"
"Thank you." She squeezed Lilly's hand. "You are an adorable little bunny."
"Thank you!" Lilly pointed. "Daisy is one too!"
Ymir walked over and leaned to look at Daisy. "Ha, that's so damn cute." She looked over at Historia. "We should do that with our kids."
Historia blushed. "Mm, yes."
Levi smiled. "You two will be amazing parents. If you need help at all with adoption or funding IVF, let me know."
You rubbed Levi's back. "We're here for you."
Ymir yanked Historia close. "We appreciate it. I think this one would say it, but she's now emotional."
"Talk to us anytime."
Levi smiled at you. "Let's sit for a moment. I think our two bunnies need food."
You nodded. "Yes. I'm starving too."
You huddled together in a booth and were soon joined by Erwin and his pregnant wife. You all talked as a family and laughed together. The diner was full of love, and no one was judged. Everyone was welcome.

Chapter 1: November
Tumblr media
☾ Pairings ➼ Levi Ackerman x fem!mute!Reader (she/her pronouns), set in a modern semi-fictional world
☾ Summary ➼ Due to childhood trauma, you find yourself an adult without the ability to speak. After years of working on it, you have found ways to live without a voice. Now here in your late 20s, you are 5 months in getting used to a new town. On a fateful day in late November, you and your adopted sister visit a local bookstore-café, unaware of the friendships about to blossom. Throughout the months, one friendship in particular develops into something more.
☾ Content/Warnings ➼ fluff, slowburn, oblivious feelings, angst, mention of minor character deaths, trauma, illness, adoption, mentions of fire, disabilities, alcohol use, very light nsfw mentions, eventual smut (these update with every chapter)
☾ Author's note ➼ Hey guys! This is my first time writing fanfiction in a loooooong time, like the last time I wrote was probably in 2011. So with that said please be kind with any feedback or comments. I hope you enjoy! (also I made Hange's pronouns she/her/them/they)
Edit (11/27/2023): Hey guys, welcome to my little world of Unspoken Words. I have quite literally used this story as a way to better myself as a writer. As you read on, you may find that I've progressed (ofc I have a long way to go) but because of that, my first few chapters might be rough. With your patience, you may find a liking to this story as I know I've loved writing every word of it.

20-something years ago
You’re not sure how, but you find yourself sitting in the back of a big, white van. Red and blue lights danced in your eyes, and it felt like a thousand people surrounded you. Something plastic is placed on your face then you are instructed to breathe in deeply. You thought it was funny to be told to breathe, like you don’t just do it naturally, but you follow instructions regardless. It’s hard though, every part of your body hurts, chest included. Every breath you take feels like your insides are on fire.
‘Fire’, you think.
Everything is on fire.
Present Day
Levi stood blank faced as he meticulously cleaned the blender station for what felt like the 100th time today. The late afternoon rush had just tapered down so he took advantage of the next to empty café to clean as much as he could before closing for the evening.
“It’s 20 degrees outside, how are people still wanting frozen drinks.” he murmurs to himself, placing the blender back in its spot. Levi turns to the front counter and slings the towel he was using to dry things onto his shoulder.
His best friend, roommate, and business partner could be seen restocking some books on tall shelves, a gentle smile lighting up his boyish features. It’s been about a year and a half since they started this business venture together and they had no idea at the time how successful their bookstore-café combo would be in this small town.
Erwin’s thirst for knowledge kept their shelves as variable as ever while Levi’s love for perfecting the art of tea kept the drinks flowing. The problem, however, was Levi’s lack of people skills. He was seldom seen at the register, nor would you ever see him smile or talk to the customers. He often would leave you with a grunt and a swift turn after handing off the drinks.
No, for that, they had hired a couple of local highschoolers to do the facing work.
“Mr. Smith, Levi?” a soft voice rang out to the left of him. Levi shifted his attention to a taller girl with shoulder length raven hair standing next to him. Being as Mikasa is his cousin, they found early on how weird it was to be called ‘Mr. Ackerman’ as they shared the same surname. It was this connection too that got them to where they are today.
“Would it be okay if Eren and I take off a little early tonight? We have some big tests coming up and we’d like to take some extra time to study.” Mikasa shifted her dark eyes to the darkening windows as the sun set just over the horizon. Pinks and oranges flooded the partially clouded skies.
”Tch.” Levi could not help but roll his eyes. He raised a brow at her and leaned back against the counter behind him for support. “Sure, I guess,” he continues. “But do you really need it or is it for that blockhead?”
As if summoned by his words, Eren comes up from behind Mikasa and wraps a red scarf around his girlfriend’s neck, both of their jackets hanging off one of his arms. Eren is a good kid, always on time and followed directions, but the amount of sass he held in his body was something else. Levi and Erwin did not mind though, as he added a certain energy in the café that the customers seemed to enjoy. The two men wouldn’t say it out loud, but they really appreciated having them both on the team.
“Hey, I heard that. And yes, I need to study desperately. Econ is so hard and for what?!” Eren’s teal eyes widened for emphasis. To add to it he even put on a fake pout.
“I-”
“Just take the trash with you on the way out and you’re good to go.” Erwin piped up from behind a bookshelf.
Mikasa nodded in acknowledgement towards the voice, a silent thank you. Like Levi, she was not one for many words. He once thought it was an Ackerman thing but then he thought back to his annoying uncle and changed his mind quickly.
With that, she and Eren both untangled the aprons from their bodies, grabbed their belongings, and picked up the trash bags that were already taken out of the cans. They opted to leave through the back since the dumpsters were located that way. Again, Levi wouldn’t say it to anyone out loud, but he really did like those kids.
Erwin could be heard stacking more books into the shelves which left Levi to polish the counters again. It was the last hour before they closed so it stayed quiet for the most part, only interrupted by the sounds of scuffling shoes and books being placed on hard surfaces. Light jazz filled the rest of the silence. Then the bell signifying new customers rang from the front.
“Levi, can you grab that?”
The raven-haired man just huffed in response then stepped over to the register. His eyes fell on two figures right in front of him. A frazzled brunette and... you.
Due to the season, you are bundled up in a thick parka and knitted beanie. A big scarf wraps around your neck and face so that all Levi could see is your flushed cheeks and thick lashed eyes. Truthfully, you reminded him of a marshmallow.
“What’ll it be?” he asks, deadpan. The brunette is the one to respond, the voice loud enough to make him wince.
“Hmmm... well one English breakfast tea latte with lots of room for sugar aaaaand I’ll take a peppermint hot chocolate. Oh, and extra whip! We’ll drink it here.” She fished out a card with a dramatic thwip and handed it to Levi’s outstretched hand.  Their café is one of those where if you were to stay, they offered washable cup ware as to keep the prices down on disposable cups. Not to mention the lessened ‘environmental impact’ as Erwin would say.
Levi glances at you before turning to make both orders. You give a small wave and smile a little, but he was already working quickly on the drinks.
He went into autopilot as he steeped the tea and steamed the milk. He really appreciated customers that ordered anything outside of coffee, especially when it came to tea. It’s not that he hated coffee, though it’s not like he liked it either, but it just wasn’t his thing. Coffee offered a different kind of bitterness that he wasn’t very fond of. With extra whipped cream in one and extra space in the other, he whirled around to place the drinks on the counter.
The one with glasses is the one that picks them up and they promptly walk in the direction of where you currently sit, one of the tables in the back corner by the window. You were stripped of your big parka and scarf, though the beanie stayed. Your eyes were wandering around the café in wonder, and Levi was pretty sure this had to be your first time here. But truthfully, he wouldn’t know, he didn’t make it his business to know his customers. That was Erwin’s and the kids’ job.
“The shelves are full and I’m exhausted.” Erwin came around the counter with a couple of empty boxes in his arms, heading straight for the back to the dumpster. Levi stepped back and leaned against the counter once again, his own black tea that had steeped while making yours cradled in his fingertips. He kept looking at his only customers while he sipped the black liquid. The teacup almost slipped out of his grip as he saw you dumping a large amount of sugar into your cup.
There you sit, extremely focused on the cup in front of you and lips pressed together tightly, almost as if you were afraid you’d put in too much. The sight would have been funny if you hadn’t just ruined your entire tea, he thinks to himself. You smile to yourself in satisfaction and put the sugar jar back where it came from. While you stir the sweetener in gently, the brunette in front of you talks animatedly. Hands were flying everywhere, and Levi could practically feel the energy radiating from the corner of the room.  You were doing the same, silently laughing.
Suddenly the front door flew open, the bell ringing loudly with it. Levi grits his teeth, steeling himself for yet another customer interaction. But his shoulders dropped in relief at the sight of only Carly, Erwin’s girlfriend. She saunters up to the counter with a big smile aimed towards Levi and without even asking she slid behind the bar. Erwin had already made it from the back and was in the process of putting away the leftover ingredients from the day. Carly wraps her arms around her boyfriend and plants a big kiss on his face, to which Levi quickly looks away. It wasn’t weird for her to come in right as they were about to close.
What was weird, he thought, was the shock that flooded your face as you eyed the very public display of affection. Levi knit his brows in confusion as the brunette pivoted in her seat to see what you were staring at. Their face fell, any evidence of a good time completely erased.
“Carly?”
The person in question whipped around so fast at the voice and the panic that exuded from her was palpable. She quickly unwrapped herself from Erwin’s embrace.
“Hange.”
If it wasn’t for the jazz in the background, the lengthy silence that followed would have been deathly.
Carly clears her throat and laughs awkwardly.
“Uh, why are you here?”
The person named Hange just lifts their hot chocolate cup awkwardly, not really saying anything. Their eyes shift between Carly and Erwin, clearly understanding what had happened.
“I-I’m sorry, you guys know each other?” Erwin sounds cautious, like he already knew the answer. Of course, he would, he isn’t dumb. His piercing blue eyes survey the situation, going back and forth between the two.
“Well, uh. I-” Carly stutters, clearly at a loss of what to say in the predicament she found herself in.
“She’s my girlfriend.” Hange claims calmly.
This admission makes Erwin sigh heavily, confirming what he had pieced together. Levi stared at him in bewilderment as the man just chuckled quietly.
“Well. I suppose that’s it then.” And with that he turns on his heel and stalks off to the back room.
“Wait, Erwin I can explain!” She follows right on his heels and disappears into the back room as well. A minute later you can hear hysterical crying and calm retorts reverberating from the back. If Levi could shrink into the cabinets to get out of this situation, he would. Instead, he focuses on the other party who were having a very quiet and rushed discussion. Well, a one-sided discussion, as he only heard one voice.
Levi, realizing it was almost time to close anyways, rushes to close the distance between him and the front door. He really did not want to have to deal with other customers while the drama unfurled. So, he flips the door sign to ‘Closed’ and unplugs the ‘Open’ neon sign hanging in the window. A couple walks by about to open the door, probably out for a café date from the looks of it. But they were only met with a dead stare from the sharpest eyes they’d ever seen. With that, they briskly turned around and left down the sidewalk.
Levi spins around and from here he gets a better look at the two trapped customers. You were moving your hands all over the place like you were earlier. But with an even closer look he realizes you weren’t just talking animatedly with your hands; you were talking with them. You were signing.
You reacted to your partner’s conversation just fine, so it was clear you had some sort of hearing. Your scarf now hung loose around your shoulders, and it looked like you had tears brimming in your eyes. Levi swiftly walks back to the counter; this is obviously not a conversation he needed to be a part of.
“Hey, don’t worry about me. It’s only been a couple of months. Really, it’s better to find out now than 3 years from now.” They laughed without humor. You know when Hange was saving face for your sake, she was never as sly as she thought she was.
‘You don’t need to be strong right now.’ You sign then reach your hand out to touch her cheek softly. Physical touch had become your second language early on, if only to emphasize. Fortunately, Hange was okay with that and often embraced it with open arms.
“I know, my little strawberry. I just need some time to process everything.” They pat you on the head lightly with a small grin. You swat their hands, blushing at the nickname you were so graciously given so many years ago.  But you nod back, knowing they would not change their mind.
The tall blonde glides through the back door, alone. His face was grim as he tugged loose the tie around his neck.
“Hange, was it?” He started walking towards you and your very startled sister.
“U-uh yeah. That’s my name! Listen I had no idea, I’m so sorry. I would have said something obviously but-”, they take a deep breath. “I’m sorry. What’s your name again?”
“Erwin Smith. There is nothing to apologize for as I can only assume there’s only one blame to be given. I hate that we must meet under such a circumstance, but it is truly nice to meet you.” He raises a hand waiting for a handshake.
Hange takes it after a second of processing, shaking the hand vigorously with both hands.
“Well, unfortunately it is what it is. I’m sure Carly and I will be speaking soon. I’m assuming she’s not just hiding back there.” They flick their gaze to the back door he had just come through.
“Ah well, yes. Long gone... how long were you two...?”
“Only like, 3 months or so. You?”
He flinched at that and murmured, “3 Years.”
Thinking back to her comment not 10 minutes ago, Hange bit their cheek.
“Oh man I’m so sorry.”
“No, please. It’s alright. None of this is yours or my fault. We couldn’t have known, but now we do.” Erwin chuckled to himself. You wonder if he’s trying to save face the way your sister did. His gaze now shifts to you. He is a very handsome man. To your extreme surprise, he starts signing to you.
‘I'm sorry, who might you be? I noticed you signing earlier. I know a little from the books I have read.’ His crystal blue eyes sparkle at you as he signs. You can’t help but break out into a huge grin. You sign your name back and compliment him on his raw signing form.
‘I am of hearing, though. So please feel free to talk, and I will sign back.’ You clarify to Erwin, the smile not falling from your face.
“That sounds like a plan. Levi, stop hiding behind the counter and come say hi.” Erwin calls out, not bothering to look over his shoulder. You hear a grunt in response and not 10 seconds later, the barista stands cross armed next Erwin. He nods a hello to each of you.
You knew he was shorter than you, at least a couple inches, based off the interaction at the counter earlier. But seeing him side by side with his friend was almost comical. But as short stature as he was, it did not keep him from holding himself with such authority. It made you nervous.
‘Thank you for the tea, it was very good.’ You sign, your sister translating in real time for you.
“Tch, are you sure? I saw you dump enough sugar in it to make it syrup.” Levi retorts dryly.
That makes you smile sheepishly. His fixated stare unnerved you a little, but you stare back regardless. Now that he was closer, a glass case no longer between the both of you, your eyes traveled along his face in close inspection.
He’s beautiful, you think to yourself. His features are sharp and angled. Steely gray eyes pronounced a permanent exhausted look. It was a shade of gray you’ve never seen before, and they were mesmerizing. As if he could feel you staring holes in his face, he flicks his eyes to the side, clearly uncomfortable. But you can’t help it, because really the most intriguing thing about him was not his metallic eyes. It was the scars that marred his porcelain skin.
A couple of scars ran down the right side of his face. The prominent of the two trailed from the top right of his forehead all the way down to his chin, cutting into his right eye and both lips. You’re pretty sure his eye was quite damaged due to the slight muted discoloration of the eye color.
He’s beautiful, you repeat to yourself. You glance over to Hange, and they just look over at you with a knowing look. You know she was just begging to ask Levi too, but she just shakes her head. So, you fold your hands together and pinch your lips together.
“Well!” Hange yells out, breaking the silence. “This human really needs a drink. Let’s all go! Erwin, I demand you let me treat you to a couple drinks!” She wraps an arm around your shoulders and laughs.
“A drink sounds fantastic; I will gladly take you up on that offer. Let me just close up rea-” He’s cut off by Levi raising both of his hands up in protest. You notice the two missing fingers on his right hand. The pointer and middle were gone. Whatever this man went through, you just had to know. But you toss those questions onto an ever-growing pile and bite your cheek.
“Erwin, I can close up. You go ahead.” Your sister just smiles widely and practically jumped up and down. The blonde man just clapped his hand Levi’s shoulder and smiled at him.
“Thank you. You’ll join us after? The usual place?” Levi just shrugs his shoulders in response.
Part of you hoped he would. You couldn’t place a singular reason why though.
.
Fifteen minutes later, the three of you found yourselves in a well-lit and very crowded bar. Somehow Erwin had snagged a table near the back wall. Heavy rock blares loudly from a live band maybe 20 feet away. Overwhelming was an understatement, but you grit your teeth and sit down on one of the stools.
“Whatcha want, my darlings?!” Hange yells over the music, slapping both hands down on the table and staring at the both of you.
“Whiskey neat, whatever they offer is fine.”
You sign the words ‘apple’ and ‘juice’ followed by a ‘thank you’. You’ve never been one for a drink. While it was tolerable to be around, you’d rather not have to taste it if you could help it.
Looking around, you see all manners of people surrounding you. Something about it makes your stomach turn but you shift in your seat to quell it down. You’re sure it’s only so crowded because of the prospect of a Friday night and the promise of no plans the following day. The town of Jinae was not anything special, but it was quaint. You and your sister found out quickly it was a place where everyone knew mostly everyone. After only settling down here from your hometown 5 months ago, you were still learning of all the local spots.
From the looks of it, this bar was one of those. “The Scouts” was an inviting place, decorated with dark greens and wood tones. The walls were littered with many frames of a lot of different people. You imagine it might have been local residents in various locations of the town. All of the wood was worn down, so it was clear this place has been in business for a while. A neon sign hangs above the stage where the live band played, something that resembled blue and white wings. It makes you wonder what the significance is.
Your thoughts are disturbed as a glass is placed in front of you. Realizing the dryness in your throat, you pick up the glass and take a big swig of the amber liquid. You’re met with a burning sensation, and you gag. This alerts Hange of the unfortunate mistake.
“Ah I’m sorry my little strawberry!! They do look quite similar though, don’t they?” They switch the glasses quickly and laugh. You notice the very noticeable cup size differences between the two and you stare at her quizzically. “I may have taken a shot while at the bar, sorry.” she adds on. It makes you shake your head, but you grab her hand reassuringly and chuckle.
‘I’m sorry.’ You sign at Erwin, and he just smiles back.
“Not a problem. But I have to ask, how was it?” A bushy eyebrow raises at you in amusement.
You just stick your tongue out and make a gagging gesture at him. You laugh though, not really upset.
Two apple juices in, the live band ends. Hange and Erwin are very deep in conversation, which you suspect might be about Carly. You can’t really hear what’s being said though. With the absence of music, chatter quickly fills the air. Honestly it was really starting to get to you. So, after tapping on the pair’s shoulders and signing where you were going, you find yourself leaning over the guard rail just outside the bar’s door.
The sun was already far gone. A crescent moon sits high in the sky and a smatter of stars surrounds it. The cold air felt very welcome on your very flushed face. You exhale a big sigh, which garners a puff of steam. It makes you laugh so you do it again. Then you start to wonder how long you might be able to last out here before getting frostbite when suddenly a body starts leaning against the rail next to you.
With a start, you whip your head to face the newcomer. Instantly you relax at the sight of Erwin’s friend. He was adorned in a big peacoat and his casual slacks. A tan turtleneck sweater peaks out from the jacket’s collar. His face was flushed as well, no doubt from the cold.
Levi.
He wasn’t paying you any mind though, instead his gaze laid upon the sky above, at the stars. You wave at him anyways and offer a small smile. He glances at you with a side eye and returns a curt nod.
Not one for words.
So, you both stand there in silence, staring up at the twinkling lights above. It wasn’t uncomfortable in the slightest. Something about his presence radiated a sort of calm, and you were happy to bask in it.
After a few minutes, he shifts his weight in your direction, so you face him. He’s staring up at you and it makes you swallow hard. His eyes glowed silver from the moonlight. Truly you have never been this fascinated with a person until now.
“You like the stars.” It wasn’t a question, more like a statement.
You nod in agreement, smiling to emphasize your love for them. He purses his lips at that. It seemed as if he wanted to say something else to that, but nothing came out. It just makes you frown a bit. You just have more questions that keep piling up. Everything about him just emanated mystery and it made you want to know all about him.
‘Are you okay?’ You sign to him, exaggerating your frown to show your concern. You’re only met with a look of confusion. You forget that he does not know much if any sign. And you kick yourself for leaving your communication tools at home. To be fair though, this is not where you expected to be tonight.
You then get an idea to use your phone to type to him but before you even reach into your pocket, you’re interrupted by a sudden blast of warm air as a couple stumbles out of the bar, both in a giggling fit as they cling to each other. They take off down the road, laughing even harder. The brief warm air makes you shiver, reminding you of the cold outside.
As if thinking the same thing, Levi catches the door before it closes and holds it open for the both of you. You’re suddenly well aware of the very loud singing happening from within and your eyes widen at the familiarity of one of the voices. You and Levi make your way to the voices and are greeted with the sight of Erwin and Hange duetting a Backstreet Boys song.
What a sight it was. The tall brunette, face flushed and glasses askew, had their arm around Erwin. He his blonde hair was quite tousled, and he looked like he was having the time of his life. They both swayed together as they belted out the lyrics. As if their smiles were contagious, you felt yourself grin. It was kind of cute. So, you pull out your phone and snap a quick picture, sure to show Hange in the morning. It was a good thing too, because the song ends right as you put your phone away in your bag. Levi clicks his tongue and huffs. You glance over at the noise and notice a small upturn to the corner of his scarred mouth. Noticing your gaze, his face vacates itself from any emotion as he stares back ahead.
“Oi! Eyebrows!” He calls out to his friend. Levi starts making his way to the stage, walking with a slight limp. Yet another question to add onto the pile. “I’m gone for 45 minutes and you’re already singing.”
“I’m fine! Just a couple drinks in.”
You all make your way to the table you had laid claim to earlier. You survey the table and count at least 6 more glasses, not counting your two. It was hard to see who drank what.
‘Are you okay?’ You sign to your sister, concern etched on your face. They just nod lazily and give a thumbs up with both hands. Levi is regarding you with a look of understanding, and it seems he realized that you had asked him outside.  Music starts playing over the speakers again, and people start making their way to the dance floor. Hange squeals and downs the rest of her drink quickly.
“Erwin let’s go!” She grabs his arm, not waiting for a response. He gives a mock salute to the two of you and follows without question. Levi just clicks his tongue again and heads to the bar to get himself something. So, you plop yourself down on the stool and stare out into the room. Out of nervous habit you start fidgeting with the napkins in front of you. A moment later, Levi’s hobbling over with a tray of drinks.
“I got the idiots some water, they look like they need it.” He places the glasses down with a thud, including one of his own housing some sort of caramel liquid. Then he’s sliding something over to you and you’re about to protest that you don’t drink but you realize it’s not a glass. It’s a notepad and pen.
“If you need something, this might come in handy.” is all he says.
You’re quick to show your appreciation with a bright smile. You also note to yourself that you could have very well have used your phone to communicate but you were not one to disregard someone’s thoughtfulness. It makes something bloom in your chest, warm and comforting.
Your many years of not having a phone of course meant writing – a lot. Your handwriting evolved plenty with time so that meant it was extremely neat. It had to have been so that the reader would be able to read it without an issue.
First you write your name, as you realize no one had really said it out loud while at the teashop. Following that you add ‘I think your shop is wonderful, and I really did enjoy the tea you made.’ You also want to jot down the questions from earlier that were still swimming in your mind, but you hold yourself back. You tell yourself maybe later, granted if there would even be a later.
When angling the paper so he could see it, his eyes flit across the words quickly and you’re given a grunt in acknowledgement. Pulling back the notepad, you bite the inside of your cheek. While it wasn’t awkward being next to him, he sure made it hard to talk to. His cold demeanor gave you the feeling he wasn’t the type to talk about himself, especially with someone he just met. So, asking questions about him or his life was out the window. Likewise, he did not really seem interested in hearing your life story, not like you were planning to spill it anyways for fear of being met with disdain. You had plenty of experiences with that growing up.
Tapping the pen against your chin, your eyes drift around the bar room. There a multitude of people lingering about, shouting over each other to be heard. A couple sits in a corner, whispering who knows what to each other. Both of their cheeks are flushed and eyes heavy with lust. A handful of people are on the dance floor grinding away, your sister and new friend sticking out like a sore thumb as they dance with reckless abandon. All of this gave you an idea, remembering something you’ve read before many moons ago. You start scrawling on the paper again.
‘Are you a gambling man, Levi?’
You shift the pad back over to him and he glances down again after taking another sip of his spirit. He was holding his glass in a way you’d never seen before and honestly it was a little weird.
“Tch, hardly. Why do you ask?” He looks hard at you as you scratch something else down.
‘I propose a game to pass the time. Let’s make some bets about the random people in this room.’
He looks at you incredulously. You stand your ground, not averting your gaze even a little. When you don’t back down, he just scoffs and shakes his head at you.
“I literally could not care less about these people,” he clicks his tongue. “But I suppose there’s not much else to do so I’ll bite.” Knocking back the rest of his drink, he moves around you to lean back against the wall so that he is facing the rest of the crowd. You shift so that you are doing the same. You don’t overlook the proximity to the shorter man, nor the fact that your arms are almost touching. You start to scribble once more.
‘Winner gets to ask the loser one question.’ As his eyes fall on your words, he seems a little taken aback. Levi seems to think for a moment, like he’s weighing his pros and cons.
“One non-personal question.” He amends. You both nod in agreement. So, your eyes travel around the room, looking for your first target. It falls on a group not so far away.
‘I bet that gaggle of young girls over there are here for a bridal party.’
You point in the direction of the said group. Currently they were taking tequila shots, lime and all. All of them sparkled and were dressed up to the nines, save for the silly little hats adorning their heads. And they were having so much fun.
“No way,” Levi scoffs, “That has to be a 21st birthday. They all look like babies.”
Suddenly someone comes through a parting in the crowd with a tray of assorted colorful drinks garnished with cute little accessories. They all yell in excitement at the sight. One of the girls raises her glass and starts shouting.
“To Estelle! May your married life be full of infinite love, happiness, and orgasms!” They all cheer and take big gulps of their drinks, followed by more giggling.
Levi glances art you, his gray eyes dull in the dim bar light. An eyebrow lifts at you as well.
“How did you know?”
You do a sweeping gesture starting from one shoulder down to the opposite hip. He looks back over to the women and conveniently the soon-to-be-bride had faced your direction. She was indeed wearing a white sash sporting the word ‘BRIDE’ in bright pink letters. He huffs as he rolls his eyes, and you smirk at him in return. You press the pad over to him, already equipped with your question.
Levi scoffs at your question. As promised, it wasn’t very personal. You figured ice breaker like questions were a good start. But his pause made you question if this was a good idea, you didn’t want to run him off or make him uncomfortable. Then he clicks his tongue, and his face softens ever so slightly.
“My favorite hobby, huh? It would have to be cleaning.” He simply states.
Cleaning?
‘Like mopping, dusting, all that jazz?’
“Yeah, it brings me peace. I like the control. Plus, I can't stand filthy things, people, or places. It’s repugnant.” He scrunches his nose at the last statement. A laugh bubbles up and you can’t help but let it loose. You’re shot with a glare and a sharp tone.
“Funny?”
You shake your head no and smile lightly while your hands move adeptly on the pad.
‘Not funny, just amusing because it’s not something I would have expected. It’s different. If it makes you happy then it is an admirable hobby.’
Levi’s looking away from you now. If it wasn’t so dim, you would have seen there was a light dusting of pink color his cheeks and ears. He clears his throat and scans the room for his victim. His eyes land on the couple in the back corner whispering to each other. He notices their not-so-subtle hand movements as they felt each other up. Nodding in their direction, he looks back over to you, leaning close so you can hear.
“I bet that couple will get up in the next 3 minutes and excuse themselves to somewhere private.” Your eyes travel in that direction, only to look away hastily at such an intimate scene. You’re not able to think of a counter-bet because honestly, you’re thinking the same thing. Your eyes settle back to his face, but he’s already looking back at the couple. If he noticed you staring, he didn’t say. Suddenly his face is filled with a satisfied look, only to be replaced quickly with a look of horror. You follow his gaze again, afraid of what you might see.
Fortunately, it’s nothing risqué, as you catch the tail end of the couple slipping into one of the public, unmarked restrooms. But the thought of their future actions was enough to gross you out. Looking back at Levi, you scrunch your face up in disgust. He nods in understanding.
“This is why we don’t use public restrooms, especially in a bar.” He pinches the bridge of his nose with his good hand. “When I said somewhere private, I meant like a residence or something. Filthy animals, unbelievable. They better scrub that bathroom down. Maybe I should tell the bartender when they’re done. Maybe I should help clean.”
His retorts crack you up, your shoulders bouncing from silent laughter. He just stares at you impassively as he runs his fingers through his hair to get it out of his face.
“Well, it’s not like we should ruin their fun. Anyways I suppose I won. Let’s see... what’s your favorite color?”
You part your lips, dumbfounded. This was never an easy question, as you found joy in a lot of different colors. You bite your lip and start writing, but after a couple minutes Levi rips the pad from your hands out of impatience.
salmon
turquoise?
canary yellow!
orange
dark forest gre-
He just looks at you in alarm.
“Just pick one.” he scolds.
You snatch the pad back and scribble down, ‘It’s not that simple!’
“It is to me. White, easy.” You just stare right back at him, not believing what you just heard. Out of all the many shades and hues out there, this man decides the color white.
‘Why?’
“It’s clean.” is the only response you get.
It makes sense, you think. But seriously, this man was so weird. But like you said earlier, it was different and that made it refreshing to you. You start searching for your next bet.
As if in a scene from a movie you’ve seen a dozen times came to life, your eyes snap to a lone woman sitting at the bar, nursing a drink and playing on her phone. A couple seats down, you spot a few men chatting. One of the men is staring hard at the very oblivious woman. You nudge Levi with your elbow, not unnoticing the slight flinch from your touch. You point to the scene, and he is quick to understand.
“I bet when he walks over to her, she’ll get up and leave.” He says confidently.
Trusting your instincts, you scrawl back quickly as you notice the man started making his way towards the woman. Sticking your tongue out at him, you angle the pad to him so he could see.
‘Absolutely not. She’ll tell him off right away.’
To both yours and his surprise, not one moment later she throws the rest of her drink contents onto the man’s head. She gathers her belongings, throws a wad of bills on to the bar, then stomps out of the establishment. The rejected man staggers back to his friends, and they applaud him for his supposed gall. This event left you both stunned. There’s a moment of pause where you and Levi just stare at each other before all hell breaks loose as he starts talking and you start scribbling furiously.
“She walked away, I win.”
‘She threw that drink on him, that’s practically telling him off. And that happened before any walking off.’
“That hardly counts, no words were used.” He scoffs and folds his arms across his chest as he stares hard at you. You weren’t sure if the indignation was real or not, but it was evident in his face.
‘Words are not always needed to convey intent.’ You shoot back at him, shifting your weight to tap your foot defiantly. You would know this of course.
This makes Levi pause. He opens his mouth to say something but then Erwin and Hange came crashing into the little bubble you two had made. Suddenly the sounds of clinking glasses and mindless chatter came rushing in and you took a step back.
“Um, I think Hange might have had a little too much tonight.” Erwin says, to which your attention is drawn to a very drunk Hange. They were a blubbering, sobbing mess. Whining about things that ranged from Carly to her work stress and everything in between. Your sister rarely got this drunk, but you imagine the events from earlier might have been her breaking point. This was a sign to get her home.
You hastily round the table to wrap her arm around you and prop her up. Then after whipping a $20 out of your purse and throwing it on the table in front of the boys, you give them a grateful smile and sign to Erwin.
‘Thank you both for tonight. She and I had a lot of fun. But I need to get her home before she gets worse.’ As if on cue, they let out a loud wail and start sobbing into your shoulder. You shift your body to hold them closer so that you don’t drop them. Erwin grabs your $20 and shoves it back in your purse before zipping it up. He had left you no time to protest as he places a large hand on your shoulder and stares intensely at you.
“Please, let me take care of this. Tell them this was an exceptional time. And to please stop by the café again, we owe each a good, sober talk.” His bright blue eyes crinkled in the corners as he smiled at you warmly. “It was a pleasure meeting you too. I hope you join Hange on the café visits as well. I think Levi has warmed up to you just nicely.” He wiggles an eyebrow at his friend. Levi just shoves him back and rolls his eyes.
“Tch, fuck off. She’s alright, I guess.” He’s staring at you now, not as cold as before. “You owe me an answer next time we meet.”
You purse your lips at him and shake your head in disagreement.
‘I totally won that, don’t even think otherwise.’ You jot down lazily on the notepad still on the table. It wasn’t as neat, but you were propping up a whole human, you couldn’t help it.
“Are you sure you’re safe to get home okay? We can he-” You cut Erwin off with a wave of the hand. Their spot of choice was actually very lucky, as you only live a few minutes away. And to be honest, you needed the cold air. So, you sign a quick goodbye to your new friends and make your way out.
Walking down the snowy sidewalk, you pat Hange’s head as she grumbles about random things. She opted to walk herself, but you kept your hand in theirs to lead them in the right direction. She only stumbled a few times but overall, you were able to keep a steady pace. You note that before you left, her glass of water had been untouched, so you make a mental reminder to hydrate her before throwing her in bed.
‘Alcohol was not kind to those in their 30s’ you heard their voice say in the back of your mind.
As your steps left crunching noises in their wake, you peer up at the moon and glittering stars. A certain raven-haired and silver-eyed man etched in your brain. You wonder how soon it will be before seeing him again.
‘Levi’ you sign to yourself with a free hand. A smile cemented to your face the whole way home.

CONTENT — A Howl's Moving Castle inspired one-shot featuring Wizard Levi and a Violin Maker Reader. No real warnings, just some fluff about first encounters, Levi's POV (wc: 1.1k)
Tumblr media
The rhythmic sound of coins being deposited into the till ceases.
Levi looks up as you finish recording the transaction of his payment in a notebook, a magical quill transcribing your thoughts directly onto the paper. Despite the help, you remain concentrated on your task, creases forming between your brows.
Levi studies you.
You are as he last remembers, but different.
Your essence is the same, but your strength is yet to be discovered.
And you are more modest than he remembers. You wear a simple straw hat, which doesn't have any woven details nor ribbons to adorn it.
All things considered, it is a rather plain hat. But perhaps its most offensive transgression is the fact that it is worn by someone as special as you.
Oh yes, Levi wasn’t sure when he spotted you in the crowds in the bustling town of Market Chipping, but now, he is certain of it.
It’s you.
And someone of your caliber?
You deserve the finest silk hats.
You deserve to be far away from a step-sister who mistreats you and takes advantage of your skills as an artisan.
You deserve to open your own shop, in a town you choose for yourself.
You just deserve more.
“I hope you enjoy your violin, Sir,” you say to him, tearing him out of his observations. Your voice is low and collected, as though you are afraid to draw attention to yourself.
You hand him a package—the violin he just bought—wrapped carefully in a leather-bound box. It is one of the finest instruments Levi has ever seen, but that you're the one who crafted it makes it priceless.
Levi says nothing as he takes his new purchase in his two hands. He tucks it under one arm and continues to stare at you.
Behind the counter, trinkets float around the different violins on display, jewels of all colors gleaming and reflecting a myriad of colors on your skin. It is a beautiful and delicate sight, and Levi secretly wonders how you would look surrounded by more colors.
At Levi’s silence, you follow his gaze and catch what he is staring at.
“Oh, those?” you let out, a timid smile creeping up on your lips. You reach out into the air, and various gems hover around your fingertips, like metal attracted to a magnet. “These are enchanted gemstones. We sell them to musicians looking for a muse. Our local Witch has charmed them to float around like this. Catchy, isn’t it?”
As you finish explaining your story, you pluck one stone that’s swirling above you. You turn and offer it to him, opening your palm.
It’s a pink stone, etched with sharp corners and glistening surfaces.
“It is said that each stone brings a different kind of luck to its owner,” you explain, a gleam of light reflecting onto your cheeks as you twirl the stone around. “This one’s a rose quartz. It’s meant to promise long lasting love.”
Levi's lips twitch at the sight of the stone.
Long lasting love, huh?
Of course, Levi recognizes the pink gem—he recognized it the moment he walked into the shop. It is the same stone that you wore as a necklace in his past when you first saved him.
Despite this, he still finds himself asking you:  “Why hand me this one?”
Levi still doesn’t retrieve the gem from your hand, allowing you to finish your sales pitch.
You blink, your eyes flickering to him. Your expression is riddled with uncertainty, as if you didn’t expect Levi would be interested in what you had to say.
You swallow a heavy breath, your hand faltering.
“D’you know what? I don’t understand it myself. It just… felt right. Isn’t that strange?” You bite your bottom lip nervously. “Here, you keep it—it’s on the house.”
You bring your hand closer to his own, offering him the stone.
But Levi waves a hand in the air to refuse.
“No,” Levi answers coolly. “This isn’t a charity.”
He sees you frown, appearing taken aback.
Levi gestures to the stone still in your hand. “But I would like to buy it.”
A victorious grin creeps on your lips, as though you didn’t believe your speech might lead to this turn of events. You nod, looking oddly satisfied with yourself.
“Alright then,” you hum. You tell him the price of the stone and he hands you the change. Before handing him his new possession, you give him a curious stare. “What name should I put on both receipts?”
He stills.
“Levi Ackerman,” he answers, studying you carefully to gauge your reaction.
You look up at him. Recognition flashes on your face and you appear startled. Afraid, perhaps.
“Oh.” There’s a tremor to your voice that wasn’t there before. “Are you… the Levi Ackerman? Humanity’s Strongest Wizard?”
Levi crosses his arms over his chest. The term Humanity Strongest was first coined many years ago, when he was still an apprentice and his mastery of magic was deemed extraordinary.
He hates the title.
“Fucking pretentious, isn’t it?” Levi comments, the muscles on his face tensing.
You seem to relax upon hearing Levi's response, the same smile ghosting your face. “Well, it is a bit much. Couldn’t settle for a title with less… flair?”
“Believe me, I would have loved to,” Levi mutters.
The corner of your mouth lift upwards. “I suppose Humanity’s Okay-est Wizard doesn’t quite have the same ring to it, huh?”
Levi shrugs. “I think I would settle for just Levi, if I could,” he confesses.
Levi wants to say that he’d settle for you calling him like that, but he refrains himself. That would be way too forward of him and way too creepy of a thing to hear from someone you don’t even know.
But Levi knows you.
(He’s known you for many years.)
For him, to hear his name on your lips would be as natural as the wind blowing through the valley of this town.
There’s a gleam in your eyes now, the beginning of a fire Levi recognizes. “Alright, just Levi. Tell me, do you believe in the properties of stones?”
Levi clicks his tongue in a way that it hisses through his teeth, amusement and disbelief blending on his face.
“Not really.” Levi gazes at you thoughtfully. “But maybe one day.”
You give him a curious look and place the gem into his palm. The contact of your fingertips against his skin sizzles.
Levi pockets the stone, burning the memory of you in his mind. He’ll gift you the necklace one day, and you'll both see that the properties of the stone are true.
But before that, your own story has to start.
See you soon, Violin Maker.

"Levi Heichou!" You called out, excited to see your lover appear before you.
"Tch, I told you so many times before to drop the shitty title, we're no longer in the Corps anymore," Levi rolled his eye—his good one—as he approached you. His hair was neatly combed back, his fedora in his lap. Levi was wearing a simple white button shirt with black long pants. His hair had grown longer; his fringe now growing past his eye. You missed how he used to keep his hair short, but you loved how nice Levi looked with longer hair too.
You looked hard at Levi, studying every line and wrinkle you see, and the barely visible strands of grey on his ebony hair. Years of fighting on the front line had taken a toll on his body more than you liked, even though he claimed it didn't really affect him much since he had the Ackerman bloodline.
Although the war ended, you knew Levi still wasn't at peace. You could tell he was restless, he didn't like being cooped up at home. His eyes didn't seem to have life in them like they used to, and he just seemed so sluggish all the time. You knew Levi wasn't sleeping well too; sometimes the ache in his knee woke him up, and sometimes, it was the demons Levi were fighting in his head. Levi didn't say it, but you knew he missed the old life, the one where he spent half his life fighting for a cause he believed in, and now that he fulfilled his mission, his life felt aimless; he didn't know what to do, and what to continue living for.
It took you a long while to convince Levi to even agree to step out of the house and go on this picnic date, and deep down, you knew you had to make every minute out with him worthwhile.
"What are you staring at?" Levi's voice brought you back to the present, "thinking of something?"
"Nah, I'm just thinking of asking Mikasa to send me some of those pearl eye cream from Hizuru. You know, the one Lady Kiyomi sent her for her birthday?" you answered, bringing a pair of shoes and putting them on for Levi, "I heard they're good for reducing wrinkles, especially around the eyes."
Levi's eye narrowed. "Oi. Are you saying—"
"Did Big Sister y/n just call Uncle Levi old?!" A high pitched voice came from the kitchen, and you felt an impact around your midsection. A few moments later, a head of blonde hair appeared by your side too. "Big Sister y/n just said Uncle Levi has wri—"
"Gabi! Shush—" Falco covered Gabi's mouth while she tried to wiggle herself free. You giggled and glanced at Levi who was eyeing the three of you, and quickly tried to separate the younger ones.
"Oi. You brats. Ganging up on me now?" Levi crossed his arms, looking utterly displeased. Falco continued covering Gabi's mouth while she tried to stomp on his foot.
"Of course not, Levi, we wouldn't dare to offend our elders do we, kids?" You joked, earning another stare from Levi. Before he could say anything, you quickly ran into the kitchen with Gabi and Falco.
"Big Sister y/n!!! Did you see Uncle Levi's face when you talked about wrinkles?" Gabi laughed while Falco appeared with a picnic basket in tow.
"Shut up, Gabi! Uncle Levi and Big Sister are late for their date already, stop disturbing them!" Falco sighed and tried to pull Gabi away, "here, Big Sister, I hope you and Uncle Levi have lots of fun today!"
You nodded and waved the kids goodbye and went outside, looking again at Levi who still had his arms across his chest. Onyankopon was right behind Levi, giving you a smile.
"Come on brat, let's go." Levi rolled his eye again as you passed the picnic basket to Onyankopon. Pushing Levi's wheelchair, Onyankopon told you to wait by the pavement as he went to drive the car over.
"... do I really have wrinkles?" Levi muttered once Onyankopon left. You snorted and tried to hide it with a small cough.
"Hmm… well… I mean, uh… your crow's feet do seem to be… uh—"
"Fine. Enough." Onyankopon arrived and Levi dismissed you, clearly knowing the answer in his heart. You giggled as he came out to help Levi up into the car while you kept his wheelchair in the boot.
"The weather today is lovely," Onyankopon smiled as he began driving, "it's a good day to be out in the sun."
"And yet, she still does not want to tell me what we're doing today."
"You'll find out later." You chuckled again holding Levi's hand, watching the scenery outside pass by. You sought help from Onyankopon and the kids weeks ago to look for nice picnic spots in Marley. With the spring breeze flowing and the flowers blooming, you thought it would be a perfect opportunity to spend undisturbed time with Levi. You thought a change of scenery might do him some good too; to help him out of this depressive state. After another quarter, Onyankopon stopped the car near the park and went to take Levi's wheelchair out.
"I'll pick you two up at eight, is that okay, y/n?" You checked your watch and it was a little past four. You nodded your head and thanked Onyankopon before taking the picnic basket and another bag from the front seat. Placing the picnic basket on Levi's lap, you helped him put on his fedora and his eye patch before wheeling him ahead.
"So, are you going to tell me why we are here in this godforsaken place?" Levi questioned you again as you began pushing him on a stony path.
"I'm taking you out on a date, obviously." You teased him again as you suddenly pushed him faster, causing his fedora to nearly fly away. Levi tutted angrily and said you should never be allowed to push his wheelchair again.
A few moments later, you and Levi arrived at a shop offering bicycles for rent. You paid the shopkeeper some money and then he rode a quadricycle over. You took the picnic basket and bag from Levi's lap and placed it in the front seats of the quadricycle. Once more, Levi gave you a look of confusion.
"Well, up now, I rented this for the day," you gestured. Levi awkwardly looked away, subconsciously placing his hand on his bad knee and grimaced, knowing that you of all people should know how he wasn't like before. What were you thinking, making him cycle when you knew it was going to be hard for him?
"Come on, Levi, stop depending on that wheelchair. You have to prevent your knee from becoming worse, right?" You smiled encouragingly, offering your hand out. You had expected that Levi would be unhappy, but you likewise knew that you shouldn't treat him differently from before. Whether or not he was Levi Heichou of the Survey Corps, or now as Levi the war veteran, he was still Levi—the Levi you loved. Whether he had physical disabilities or not, Levi was still the man you want to spend the rest of eternity with. You didn't want to push him, you wanted Levi to get out of this self-pitying state himself. After a long while, Levi held your hand and pushed himself up from the wheelchair. Slowly but steadily, you guided Levi up on the seat of the quadricycle, placing his feet on the pedals.
"W-wait. What about the wheel—"
"Don't worry, sir, your item will be safely kept here." The shopkeeper kindly replied and Levi seemed to relax a little. It was hard trying to move around without the wheelchair, but maybe you were right. He should try to depend on it less. "We'll close at around 10pm, so please remember to come by before then." The both of you nodded and you took your seat on the left. Looking at Levi, you gave him another smile and asked if he was ready. You could see Levi massaging his knee again. Levi took a deep breath and sighed, telling you to start pedalling.
It was hard at first, but Levi gradually got used to the momentum again. The both of you kept your pace slow, taking your time to enjoy the scenery passing by, the sound of birds chirping, and the gentle rustling of leaves. The sun was obscured by the clouds and there wasn't much of a crowd as well. You saw Levi's face relax gradually, the crease on his forehead slowly disappearing. Levi seemed to be more at ease with paddling on the quadricycle as well. You smiled to yourself. Bringing Levi out was indeed doing him well.
"Are you doing okay?" You checked in with your lover, making sure he wasn't overexerting himself. After he gave you a nod, you pointed to a large shady tree about 200 metres away, telling Levi that it was the next stop. Reaching the tree, you told Levi to remain seated first.
"Are you up for a walk?"
"... Hah?"
"A walk, Levi. Let's go for a walk."
"N-no, I don't think I can—"
"We'll walk slowly. Forget about the walking stick. You don't need it, I'm here."
Levi looked hard at you, face remaining emotionless. The frown on Levi's face became more and more evident as the seconds passed. You continued to stare right into Levi's eye, your resolve unwavering. A few seconds later, Levi broke eye contact and sighed again before reaching out his hand towards your direction.
"You better not make me regret this," Levi muttered under his breath, "you're forcing a crippled man to walk when you jolly well know he can't." You rolled your eyes.
"First off, Levi"—you took his hand and slowly guided him down the quadricycle—"you're not crippled. Secondly, you walk fine. Thirdly, think of this as rehabilitation, hmm? And lastly, stop complaining like an old man." You stood on Levi's right side and interlocked your arm with his, making sure he wasn't putting too much pressure on his knee.
"Where are we going?"
"Not far. We're just going to that small pond over there," you pointed towards a pond just in front, "let's go and feed some ducks." Levi scoffed hearing you.
"As long as they keep their feathers and shit to themselves."
The walk to the small pond was slow but pleasant. The heat from the sun was warm against your skin, the scent of the earth was refreshing. Levi held on to his fedora as the wind blew gently, and the sound of the grass and gravel crunching underneath your feet was playing like a contrasting melody. Once you two reached the pond, you opened your sling bag and took out a slice of white bread. Levi raised his eyebrow slightly.
"These are stale bread from a week ago." You chuckled before tearing it into half, passing one to Levi. You further tore your half into more tiny pieces before throwing them little by little into the pond. Some of the ducks in the pond started waddling over. Several tortoises also popped their heads above the water. There were also fishes fighting amongst themselves for the last few pieces. Levi looked at you before tearing the bread in his hand, scattering them all across the pond. The fishes and ducks dispersed and finished all those pieces of bread within the next minute.
"Do you have more bread on you?" Levi asked as he finished scattering the last few pieces of bread in his hand. You laughed and took out a few more slices.
"Maybe we can go to the pier next time," you commented once those hungry birds finished all the bread in your bag, "we should try feeding the seagulls." Levi scoffed again and let you hold on to his elbow.
"Tch. And have them shit on our heads? No."
The both of you began walking back to the quadricycle. Reaching into another bag, you took out a small paper kite. Levi raised his eyebrow again.
"Do you like it? I had Gabi and Falco do it together with me." You smiled and flipped the kite over, letting Levi see the doodles they did. Levi smirked when he realised who the five blobs of colour drawn on the kite were. You held onto the string and passed Levi the kite, telling him to lift the kite above his head while you moved back.
"OKAY, LEVI, THROW THE KITE HIGH AFTER I COUNT TO THREE!" You shouted and Levi gave you the thumbs up. After counting to three, Levi threw the kite high and you jogged backwards, pulling the string up to get the kite into the sky. Releasing the string bit by bit, Levi slowly made his way to your side as the kite now started flying a short distance away. You gave Levi a smile and tied the string around the tree trunk before going to the quadricycle, taking out the picnic basket and setting the mat.
"Now… let's see what the kids made for our picnic." You rubbed your palms together excitedly and opened the basket. You took out a container of hot stew, some freshly baked sourdough bread, cheese, mushroom quiche, and a small container of fruits too. You arranged the food on the mat and took out the bowls, cutlery, and a few serviettes. Pouring some stew into the small bowl, you passed it to Levi's left before giving him the spoon.
"It seems pretty decent," Levi uttered as he took a spoonful of stew and eyed you, "are you sure they did it all on their own?" You ate some stew and nodded.
"Well, Onyankopon did give them pointers, and I was the one who gave them the recipes, but yeah. The kids made it all by themselves. Not bad, huh? Maybe we should let them open a small food stall along the streets." you took another few mouthfuls of stew, "it's time for them to contribute to the household finances." Levi tutted angrily instead.
"They're too young to be doing shit like that, you brat. Don't be ridiculous."
You giggled, cutting some mushroom quiche for Levi. "I'm joking. Of course I wouldn't let Falco and Gabi do something like that. " The crease on Levi's forehead disappeared again as he ate, passing you his bowl for more stew. Levi and you took your time savouring the good food prepared by the two kids. It was pretty decent, and indeed you were secretly thinking of letting them open a small food business once they are of age.
Once all the food was finished, you told Levi to pack everything fast. Bewildered, Levi didn't say anything, yet he wondered what you were up to again. You got Levi up onto the quadricycle again and told him that there was one place you wanted to bring him. Stopping the quadricycle, you helped Levi down and laced your arm around his again, walking him to some benches ahead. The park was located right next to the sea, and it was pretty empty, just the way you hoped.
"Come on," you muttered as you helped him down, walking towards the bench, "we're just in time."
"For what?"
"You'll see."
Taking your seats on the bench, you checked your watch before glancing ahead again, looking at the dispersing clouds. Before long, the sun started to set, painting the sky a beautiful hue of red, orange, and yellow. You could feel Levi let out a breath he didn't know he was holding, and you grabbed his hand, feeling your fingers interlock. The both of you continued to stare silently at the magnificent view ahead, watching the sun descend lower and lower, listening to the waves crashing on the shore, feeling the wind blowing against your skin. You could feel Levi's calloused fingers caressing your knuckles, and the familiarity tickled something in your memory.
"Brings back memories, huh, Heichou," you peeked at Levi, seeing him trying to hide a small smile as well, "we used to do this all the time." Levi hummed in agreement, keeping his eye on the sunset instead.
"I still think the view from the top of the walls were nicer though"—you let go of Levi's hand and stretched your hands—"it was higher, more windy, less obstruction, and more—"
"And more dangerous," Levi frowned as he interjected. You laughed once more, closing your eyes to feel the wind in your hair again. You thought back to the reason why you decided to bring Levi out today, and even though you knew it might make him unhappy, you also knew you had to talk to him about it. Minutes later, the sun had already gone below the horizon, and the sky was gradually getting darker as well. Soon, the lamps nearby slowly started lighting up.
"Say, Levi," you broke the silence once more and Levi hummed in acknowledgement again, "do you… miss the old days?"
"... why'd you ask?"
"I miss those days too, you know. I miss all our friends and comrades too. Every single one of them. Every day."
Levi didn't say a word. You guessed he was probably upset. Yet, you took a deep breath and decided to just tell him the words on your mind.
"I know it's not easy for you to, I don't know, adapt to a normal life again seeing how you've been in the Corps for nearly half your life. B-but, I just don't want to see you wallowing in self-pity, okay? It hurts me to see you like this.
"I don't care whether or not you have missing eyes and fingers, I don't care if you have to be in a wheelchair forever. I'll gladly feed your meals and bathe you, I'll wear your shoes for you and I'll push you wherever you want to go. We'll hunt around Marley to look for beautiful spots to watch the sunset and the stars. I love you for who you are, and that will never change. Falco and Gabi love their Uncle Levi too. So, j-just, don't give up, okay?"
"Who said anything about giving up?" Levi turned to you, a look of annoyance appeared on his face.
"W-well, I don't know, you're always looking so listless, and you're not eating and sleeping well. I haven't seen you smile in a long time. And once I saw you staring at the mirror looking like you're abo—"
"Hey, hey, stop it, okay? Stop worrying. I'm fine. Really." Levi held your hand and gave you a squeeze. "I'm fine. I'm dealing with it, okay? It's, it's j-just—I'm—"
"Shh. It's okay. I get it. I get you." you hushed him, gently holding him close. You didn't need to see Levi's face to know that he was probably going to tear up, a side of him that will never be seen by anyone else; anyone except you. "Everything will be alright, I promise you. I won't leave you. I'll be by your side."
The both of you remained in each other's embrace, letting your hug do the talking. Patting Levi's back rhythmically, you heard him let out a long sigh before pulling you even closer, tightening his grip around your waist as he buried his head in the crook of your shoulder. You didn't feel the need to ask Levi what he was thinking about, and likewise, Levi knew you wouldn't ask him about it. After a long while, Levi finally loosened his grip around you. The moon was hanging high in the sky and the wind was getting colder. The stars shone like little specks of glitter in the ink-coloured sky.
"Feeling better?"
"Y-yeah, better," Levi hastily wiped the remnants of tears from his cheek, "thank y-yo—
—you interrupted Levi mid-sentence with a soft kiss.
"I love you, Levi. Always remember that. Hmm? I mean it." you gave him another small smile before stroking his cheek, pressing another fleeting kiss on his chapped lips. Levi's larger hand cupped yours as he kissed you back, feeling like time around him stopped, and nothing else in the world mattered. The feeling of your lips on his, the coldness of your cheeks, the warmth from your body; they were real, and a reminder that he was still here, and he was still alive.
Levi broke the kiss first, struggling to find the right words to say while he looked at you. Chuckling, you gave him another smile and mouthed it's okay once more. Levi was never good with words and he was never a good talker, but it never bothered you anyway. Levi gave you an appreciative look while you looked at your watch.
"Come on, Levi. Let's get back to the bicycle shop."
Helping Levi on his feet, you guided him up the quadricycle and the both of you slowly cycled back to the shop. Thanking the shopkeeper for keeping Levi's wheelchair safe, you opened it and gestured to Levi to take his seat, yet Levi shook his head instead.
"Let's walk to the main entrance. There's still time, right?" Levi offered to hold the picnic basket and kite while another hand held your arm for support. You tried to hide your smile as you both walked, listening to the owls hooting in the far distance. Onyankopon's car was already waiting outside by the time you reached the entrance. Seeing Levi walking next to you, a wide smile broke across Onyankopon's face as well.
The journey back home was quiet, yet Levi felt like the weight had been finally lifted off his shoulders. You held on to Levi's hand as he laid on your shoulder, drifting somewhere between sleep and consciousness. Levi knew his road to recovery would not be an easy one. But with you by his side, it was like he found his wings of freedom once more. And for the first time in a long while, Levi went to sleep with a smile.
