#let's not have sewers scene discourse I know that it couldn't be in the movie

I think the kiss makes sense. I mean, Bill and Beverly were absolutely having a thing in the first one so why not have them kiss? Yes she finds out that Ben is her secret admirer but she isn't into him right now. Maybe in the book when she finds out when they were older and she's kind of into him it means more but now it just means a super platonic friend of hers has a thing for her and wrote her what she considers a very lovely poem. Glad they didn't wait until movie 2 to reveal it.

idk idk idk I mean unless I remember really wrong in the book she didn’t figure out at all that ben wrote the poem until part II and actually the entire part where she got kidnapped didn’t really happen I mean as far as I remember they were all in the sewers in the first place so like... why the hell would they build it up specifically? first it looks like she and bill are having a thing, then they specifically have ben kiss her and she figures it out when in the book she remained fairly oblivious until she understood it when she was older, and like... her romance with bill worked not having anyone else in the middle, the whole thing happening after the one true love thing just... idk I felt like they wanted to put it in because it was in the original canon and it should have been a thing but it should have happened long before if you ask him, especially given the look that she gave ben after he kissed her?? like

EXTRA BOOK SPOILERS + EXTRA PROBLEMATIC OPINION

like again count that I read it when I was fifteen and I haven’t reread it since so I could be wrong or remember it wrong but the thing was that beverly and bill obviously had a thing and ben pined but didn’t go in between them, and I think they kissed before the whole shebang went down or close to it, and then there was the infamous sewers bang scene which wasn’t in the movie where she had sex with all of them which in the movie was a group hug and like I entirely get why they changed it and so on but like, the whole thing was a build up to that, then you cut it which is entirely fine but then have her realize ben’s given her the one true love kiss thing and getting it (in the book when she realized he wrote the poem it was... fairly important if I don’t recall wrong) and then they go back to bill at the end like hey I’m kissing you right before I leave? I mean the timing was off to me sorry XD like I could have gotten that without her figuring the poem out and THE ONE TRUE LOVE KISS THING but with that it just... felt weird. *shrug* like idk if I recall wrong but the other point was that when she comes back as an adult she’s also married to an abusive asshole who’s a complete jerk to her and realizing ben wrote the poem was also what

got them together eventually...? so like... idk given how the original was I thought the timing was all wrong and it really didn’t work, then if in the second part they fix it/make it make sense it’s fine but still XD

(also I forgot to add that idg why they took the research thing from mike and passed it to ben when then mike’s supposed to become THE TOWN LIBRARIAN but XDDDD)
