Hello, hello everyone!! Its Lina, your, classic, anxious and panicky mun of Areum that’s always active on discord and never got her pages done (*sobs* I’m sorry, Areum–) I don’t have a plots page nor a bio page for now (Which I SWEAR I’M WORKING ON), as well as a plots page, but I do have her profile up! Here’s some plot ideas, as well as information about Areum that you’d need to know!!

History:

Areum was born Han Areum on 29th March 1991

Born to Seo Youngjin and Han Kang Hwan. She was born a few days early, and surprised her parents by being a girl, so they didn’t have a name ready for her.

A nurse named her–because the newborn was such a pretty baby, and so, lacking sorely in ideas for a great name that would fit their kid, they named her Areum (creative i know lmao–sorry my brain LACKED that creativity)

Han Kang Hwan was a Korean diplomat, and Seo Youngjin was a retired agent from Hwarang. The two had a classic love life that started after a shoulder throw, and Areum was the catalyst that caused her parents to get married.

She has a younger brother who’s 1 year younger than her and they were very close.

On the year she was 16, the family was tracked down and killed in the dead of night– the assassin was an old enemy of her mother’s employed by on of the disgruntled rivals of her father, whom disagreed with Han Kang Hwan upon certain political reforms.

Areum’s brother had grabbed her and shoved her under the bed to protect her, and so she watched the man that killed her family stab her younger brother to death.

Areum was then stabbed severely in the stomach and shoved out of the second storey and onto the lawn below. She ended up almost bleeding out, suffered a severe concussion from where the man had knocked her head into the wall, followed by a broken right arm and a broken left leg. The house was then burned down and she was left to die on the lawn of the mansion.

Because of the incident, Areum has a bumpy scar on her stomach from where the scarred tissue from the stab remains.

Had to go through physical therapy for a year to regain her muscle strength, another year was spent working on her stamina and muscles to make her up to par with the recruitment test.

She was too old for adoption, and so Areum chose to follow the Hwarang agents that had rescued her and applied for Hwarang as a recruit.

Entered as a recruit aged 18, Spent 4 years as a recruit, graduated aged 22 as a field agent, worked as a field agent for 2 years before specialising in the costumes department and working there from then on.

Areum is highly talented in art and music, and has been drawing since she was 5.

Areum debuted as an artist (painting) when she was 11, selling her art pieces under the pseudonym Raye Licht. She thought of making her handle “A Ray of Light” at first, but found it far too much of a mouthful to say easily

Areum still sells paintings under that pseudonym, and hence is rich enough to purchase a mansion + live comfortably and luxuriously for the rest of her life. But she wanted to continue her work in Hwarang.

Can play the piano, violin, flute, and is also great at singing

Technically if she was born in the Joseon era, she’d be a perfect wife + perfect daughter to marry off from a noble family

Areum’s ideal type is someone who’s not afraid to express himself, and is a little aggressive in confessing his feelings, because she’s more passive as well.

Areum has a minimalist tattoo on the middle of her lower back of a lily, which she got right after being given her agent name.

Areum also usually uses money out of her own budget to pay for pple’s expenses, or the expenses inflicted by the costume production, just give her the right reason and she’d fund you (because she’s hella nice)

personality:

Areum is sweet, generous and kind, apart from being lovely.

Was class president and popular in her school back when she had a normal family.

A little naive, and airheaded, gentle, and a soft talker.

When with friends she’s slightly childish, more naive and exuberant

Usually the mood bringer, hypes people up as well as brightens up the room

But alone Areum is silent and melancholic, reflective and understanding.

A lot of people don’t she the dual side of her, because she only shows her bright and happy side to others, because she feels that its her responsibility to liven up the atmosphere since they’re doing such emotionally heavy and taxing work.

Thinks everyone, even grouches are adorable and that each have their own worth.

Is socially anxious and a bit of an overthinker

Highly romantic, swoons easily, easily manipulated esp if she trusts someone

Serial watcher of netflix, and cries as hard as possible when it comes to heartbreaking stories

Areum also doesn’t think that she’s pretty–in her mind, she believes that she’s just average,or less than average.

Areum is also physically affectionate with others, hugs are kind of her thing– she aims to make people feel welcome, so that they wouldn’t find it necessary to be interested to know more about herself.

Career History:

Because her mother was a retired Hwarang agent, she had an agreement with her old comrades that if anything happened to her and her husband, the children would be taken in, so Areum was taken in by Hwarang agents, but had to train herself up to the standards to a recruitment agent to pass.

Had to train really hard for the entire year that she recuperated and just barely made the cut for the team of recruits.

Entered recruitment at aged 18, her physicals were low, but Areum made up to the mark with her intelligence.

Areum holds an IQ of 143, is more of an observant person–and a practiced user of being able to put on a happy go lucky facade so that no one has a clue to what she really feels inside.

No one really knows about Areum’s background or heritage, except that she’s rich, she paints, and that she’s hella good at costume disguise.

Graduated from recruitment at 22, and became a field agent, but unfortunately Areum was GREAT at disguising others, but not great at disguising herself. (Areum: hat, no lense glasses, fluffy sweaters, slippers)

After 2 years of field agent work, and more than one trip ups in disguises because Areum got recognised, Areum decided she was more cut out for costume specialisation rather than field work.

Areum became costume specialist at age 24, and has been working in that spot for 4 years.

Plot Ideas!!

[For her other costume specialist] You cannot believe the naivety of Areum thinking that she’s fine with disguising herself with just fluffy sweaters and a no lense glasses to not be recognised.

All physical, not emotional – Areum has needs just like everyone else, and you’re one of the special people who has seen the more solemn, contemplative side of her, which she doesn’t usually use outside of the bedroom or her own room [fwb connection ; 0/3 filled]

Classic Annoyance – You’re one of the colder friends of Areum. You can’t fathom why she’s so physically affectionate with people, but you’d comfortably say that you two are close with each other. [ friends ; 0/3 filled]

Walk my Dog – Areum has a habit of offering help to others even though she sucks at it, and with her small stature, its hilarious to see a 158cm tall tiny person trying to drag more than two large dogs away from their wayward tracks. You’re one of those individuals that take advantage of that and always ends up walking your dogs with her, because its just adorable watching Areum frazzle up over a bunch of too big dogs that she can’t control

You remind me of him – Areum’s connection and relationship with her younger brother has always been more than extraordinary, even in his death she feels somewhat connected to him. You are the one that reminds Areum of her deceased brother, and Areum does everything she can to protect you from what she perceives to be harm, even if sometimes its rather over the top.

Why Are You Doing This To Me? – Being the overly romantic and sweet, naive person that Areum is, its no doubt to say that she’s been used and manipulated by people before. You’re the person that she has a crush on, and knowing that she has a crush on you, you’re intent on using her for your own needs. Its purely unemotional for you, but entirely emotional for Areum, and she just doesn’t know that you’re using her just yet. [ crush, fwb, angst angst heavy angst in the future]

Again? – One of Areum’s responsibilities is to patch up the costumes that have either been destroyed or ruined in the field work, and you’re one of the more reckless field agents/ recruits that always seem to mangle up your clothes to the point of nearly beyond repair. Its perplexing for Areum, and she’s up to the challenge to make a new piece that you can’t possibly rip, but you always seem to outdo yourself in ripping yourself a new piece of clothing.

Exes, Crushes on Areum/ Romance – this can be plotted however you like it! Areum is pretty open and free when it comes to having either slept together with another agent, or dated another agent before, she’s mostly clueless when it comes to someone crushing on her, or perhaps the idea of something between them that blurs the lines of friendship but they never acted upon it etc. Feel free to hit me up!

- What is your Full name? Include any maiden names, aliases, or nicknames. Eliseo Matteo Lee, I usually go by Eli for close friends and family members

- When is your birthday? Do you know where you were born and at what time? April 17, 1982, I was born in Italy, province Bari.

- What is your star sign? Do you know your Chinese Zodiac too? I believe that I am an Aries and my Chinese Zodiac is the dog

- What is your earliest memory that you can remember? I remembered the summer of 1986 in Bari my father taught me how to catch my first fish, best summer day spent that year.

- Where was your childhood home? Was it more urban or rural? With the buildings and such, it was kind of a cross in between, but it is more urban than it would be rural. We had not much land and hour home was like a townhouse type of deal, but it was beautifully set cliff side to look over the ocean

- How was your childhood in general? Did your parents treat you well? Did you have a lot of friends? I had a very fulfilling childhood until I reached the year of our accident, my parents were the most loving and understanding couple you could meet, they would always greet you with open arms and warmth. I did have some friends but they all left my side when I became blind and then I ended up moving to Korea and basically no one befriends me, perhaps because they can only pity me so much.

- How was/is school? What is your favorite and least favorite subjects? What were your grades on average? School was a blast in the elementary years, then high school and university was just a horrible freak show, I never thought that the smallest thing on this earth would be human kindness but what else could I expect. Least favorite subject were the sciences and my most favorite was mathematics. My grades are above average, not exceptional.

- Did you have a best friend growing up? What was their name? Are you still in touch? I had a friend named Dario, he was close to me for a very long while but when we moved on to grade 11 he had moved to another province in Italy. In general I have lost contact with him.

- Were you in any cliques? No.

- Best childhood memory you can recall? Being told that was going to be a big brother, when my mother was pregnant with her third child.

- Worst childhood memory you can recall? I do not know what was worse, being told that my eye sight will get worse and possibly permanently gone or the fact that my mother died in the accident along with my sibling inside of her. Both had me devastated.

- Name an event in your childhood that has shaped you into the person you are today. I became a spokesperson for people against drunk driving due to my accident. I am the outcome of this circumstance, but due to this I learn there are many more values in life that we must cherish, and these things are crucial. Things cannot be taken for granted and that with whatever is happening around us, do not forget to be thankful for everything we have already.

- What is the dumbest thing you have ever done to impress someone? Were they impressed or was it all for naught?I have never shown off or have done anything to get people to fancy me. I don’t work that way.

- Did you ever have any sweethearts or lovers? Do you have a boy/girlfriend? I liked a girl back in grade 5 but I was a naive kid, what did I know about love? But no, I have never dated anyone, I have never held hands with anyone in that romantic manner either.

- Are you a virgin? Considerably yes? (to be discussed lol)

- Do you ever plan on getting married in your life? Do you want kids? Oh yes I am growing older, I do want to settle very much and I would love to have kids, I just adore them.. but I fear of being a burden t my spouse and my children so I distance myself a lot

- Would you rather have your own kids or adopt? How many kids would you want? Adopt or not they will be loved and cherished as my kids, and they will have the highest quality of life. I would prefer one girl and one boy, but if nature happens, it happens.

- Do you think you'd be a protective parent or a relaxed parent? I think I am a good healthy in between, I do not like spoiled kids but I do not believe emotionally scarred kids are good either, I like to balance out my love and my discipline for the.

- How would you prefer to pass away? Surrounded by loved ones and at peace, or while doing something heroic? I would prefer to die with loved ones around me but dying at least feeling I did my best for the world around me.

- Generally, how healthy are you? Do you get sick or injured easily or are you fit? I have physiotherapy to help me, I am not healthy 100% but I am not too ill, I have respiratory issues and sometimes my legs could give out but I am doing my best on working out

- Have you ever been badly injured before? Yes.

- What is the worst injury you have ever gotten? What was it and how did it happen? Were you ever close to death? Like I said my blindness is part of my injuries, alongside with broken ribs and slight internal trauma. A drunk truck driver has slammed into our family car, my mother passed, my father fell unconscious I sparred my sister with her only having a broken arm and I have suffered head trauma and such.

- How many times have you been to the hospital/doctor's? I cannot count but I have kept all of my paperwork

- Have you ever had a concussion or brain injury? Have you ever had amnesia? -- please read the other info

- What was the worst illness you ever contacted? Do you know what it was? How long were you sick? stitching infection? after they patched up my chest the stitching had a slight infection and I have gotten the worst fever ever experienced.

- Ever had any extended hospital stays? What for? Yes.

- Have you ever had to give yourself or someone else emergency first aid? What happened? Yes, that is disclosed information.

- Are you employed? Where do you work and who do you work for? What do you do? I am a professional artist and commissioner. I am self employed with my own studio and gallery/store, I can take commission requests from clients or sell my current art works to the public.

- Are you happy with your current job? Yes

- Did you have any previous jobs? What were they and what did you do? None

- Most dangerous thing you have ever done? Tried to cross the street during traffic just to kill myself

- Do you consider yourself a more active person or a more relaxed person? Perhaps more relaxed

- What is your dream come true? How about your worst nightmare? Well I had a dream to be the greatest artist and that is a come true for sure. My worst nightmare is not being able to help my father and sister.

- What is the biggest and most important goal you have set for yourself? Find good quality happiness and keep it. Do not settle for anything less than happy.

- How persistent would you say you are? How much does it take to get you to give up on a task? I will push as mush as I can to get the results I want, I am not rude about it but i don’t believe in early give ups. To get me to stop early is to pretty much hurt me with you saying no.

- Would you surrender yourself to your enemies or fight to the very end? Fight to the very end

- When do you usually do your shopping? What is currently on your shopping list? I usually stand to hold the cart my sister determines what to buy but I usually request pepero to be first

- Top three things on your wishlist? nothing as of now

- Currently, what is something you want but do not need? A lover hahahaha

- Do you like shopping? What is your favorite thing to shop for? Honestly, I can’t see things to be desiring materialistic things. But I do like art supply shopping, its a guilty pleasure

- What is the most expensive thing you have purchased? Was it worth it? Specialized paints with braille, and YES

- What would you do if you were suddenly given one billion dollars out of the blue? I will donate half to charities I like, and the rest will be to my family. I keep nothing.

- What would you describe your style of clothing as? I am mostly painting through the day so something dark and simple so it is easy to clean or dispose.

- Do you have any hobbies? Name all of them if you can. Painting, singing, reading, swim?

- Do you like and appreciate art? What is your favorite piece of artwork? YES of course!! Jean - Michel Basquiat, his works are controversial, meaningful, despite its raw and childish form he is a man with proper anatomy and art education that uses his form of art style to convey a rather complex yet simple message to the viewer. I also have a major crush on him too from when i was young

- Do you like music? What is your favorite style of music? I listen to classical music mostly, I like myself some Chopin, or if I want opera-esque then probably I will go for Georgy Sviridov

- Have you ever seen any musicals? What is your favorite?Eh no

- What are your top three favorite animals? What would you say your "Patronus" or "Spirit Animal" is? Dogs, deers, BEARS. And I am not sure, maybe a bear

- What is the most precious thing you own? Is it valuable at all? A pendant left by my mother, the only thing of her that I have brought with me from the beginning and now until my end.

- Talk about someone you know. It can be someone you either like or dislike. My mother, I can start that she is the most beautiful woman I had in my life (besides my sister) and I an not talking about just her visuals, her heart was like a bucket of warm gold, she worked hard and shared every moment she had with those around her. Despite her not having enough things for herself she always made sure her neighbors would always have a share too. My mother is intelligent, strong, courageous. She may not be the prettiest of women to some people but she is my mom.. and no one else could replace her from my heart and mind.

ooc. the meta bug has come to bite again :3c what's rigel's relationship with the arts ( theatre, fine arts, poetry, etc. )? we know zofia has a thriving culture in the arts, but does rigel celebrate the arts? if not, how do you think they pass down traditions and stories through generations?

// So this has been a topic that I’ve wanted to talk about for a while, so I’m glad you gave me a reason to think about it. However, as always, my HCs about Rigel are up for discussion/elaboration/change/etc. if other muns have different ideas.

Most outsiders don’t think that Rigel has any interest in the arts, or any noteworthy artists in its history, and while it’s true that the culture emphasizes war/fighting, the two aren’t mutually exclusive. What distinguishes Rigelian art is its practicality, and its architecture in particular is widely known for its austerity and strength. Most of the temples, fortresses, castles, etc. in Rigel were built hundreds of years ago and, astoundingly, show very little wear from time and the harsh climate. A design that could withstand a siege, the weather, and whatever else was thrown at it was considered the pinnacle of ancient architectural work, and many Rigelian architects now are often contracted to bring these designs overseas. The telltale signs of Rigelian design are its symmetry, its use of bold, geometric shapes, and its simplicity, and while architects are celebrated within Rigel, it is a very small, exclusive trade.

Relatedly, masonry is another facet of Rigelian architecture, and the ornate fireplaces (contrasting the austerity of the building itself) present in nearly every noble house owe themselves to Rigel’s stonemasons. The main fireplace of a home is such an important gathering place for families and guests alike that selecting a mason is quite a process, and they often boast elaborate inlays of the house crest, complex stone patterns, and innovative designs. It is also not unusual for a new head of the house to order a reconstruction of the fireplace to suit their own aesthetic.

Metalwork is also a popular craft, and goes hand-in-hand with Rigel’s advanced weaponry and forging. The lion symbol is most commonly recreated from bronze, and almost every household - including the lower class - owns one in some form, as a reminder of one’s pride. Other metalwork is found reinforcing doors, as statues, or in fencing around estates. Forging weapons is just as much an art as anything else, too, and it is not unusual for nobles to own highly decorated, expensive blades with which to decorate their homes, but that can still be used if needed.

I’ve also mentioned before that Rigel has its own form of dance that resembles Georgian folk dancing. Dance in Rigel is considered more a competition or exhibition (if solo) to display one’s physical strength, and usually resembles exaggerated fighting techniques. Because of this dependence on strength, dance is a highly respected art within Rigel, and both men and women learn various forms without prejudice. It’s actually expected from nobles, and Berkut definitely has learned social dances (these are the “common” dances, like waltzes, so that the rare foreign visitor invited to a Rigelian ball doesn’t feel ostracized) as well as the more ceremonial ones. As prince, he’s danced in festivals and celebrations rather ardently for years. However, since Rigelian dance is such a source of nationalistic pride, the traditional dances are rarely - if ever - taught to outsiders. After the unification of Valentia, these dance festivals probably happen more frequently to create a sense of solidarity and cultural pride among former Rigelians.

Music, poetry, and traditional art like painting are less prolific, but Rigel still has its own brand of it. They all emphasize realism. Rigelian music can seem discordant and strange to the uninitiated, because it doesn’t really follow melodies so much as it strives to recreate sounds in nature (similar to the composition of gagaku but with a stronger emphasis on percussion), Rigelian poetry is very straightforward and plain, and Rigelian artwork is hailed for its near-perfect recreation of its subjects. These disciplines also began centuries ago when men retired from the military and still sought something with which to occupy themselves. Nowadays, there are few artists in these categories, and most have either descended from long family lines of artists, create as a hobby, or have retired from the military as well.

As for passing down information, Rigelians are meticulously organized, and have probably been recording things for centuries. Rigel boasts quite an impressive national library as well, filled with information gathered from all over the world, because intellectual strength is considered just as important as physical strength. And who knows when any of that might prove useful in war. Bottom line though, almost nothing is passed between generations without being written down, at least among the upper class. There are a few examples of old wive’s tales passed to children, but they perhaps stemmed from the same two or three stories. Passing them along as warnings to keep children in line has changed them each time they’ve been repeated.

Overall, the more practical an art is, the more celebrated it is in Rigel.

So… this ended up being more an examination of Rigelian culture, but… I hope it answered your question!
