I finished my Jack of All Trades Durge + Wyll run! I'm actually sorta proud of myself. I started on Explorer, switched to Balanced at level 4, then Tactician before Act 3. No modded equipment (used transmog for aesthetics), no tadpole powers, no summons. Just pure skill... and occasionally explosives... and sometimes reloading lol. But I did it! Here's how it went.
Blood of Lathander saved my ass against Cazador! I used Balduran's Giantslayer and made Durge big to fight Raphael! It did not help, but I had fun! I put on a fireworks show for Ansur! I killed so many dinosaurs that I think I might be why they went extinct! I blew up a bunch of Sharrans with runepowder I stole from a gnome! Wyll did a lot of stabbing! Durge accidentally summoned a lot of magma mephits! (Including at High Hall, and Nine-Fingers immediately killed it, which made it explode fire, which made a bunch of allies angry, so they left, and the strange ox turned into its true form and aggro-ed against everyone---it was a mess, I had to reload that lol.)

My durge believes in giving everyone a chance, not punishing people for crimes they haven't committed yet, and even giving people a second chance if they're willing to change. He got a second chance and wants to extend that grace to others. However, I think it's made him an accidental menace to the Sword Coast, which is especially funny considering he's dating Wyll. He saved a mind flayer, who went on to kill a family. He saved 7000+ vampires, who are definitely going to end up killing some people. He saved all of Mystic Carrion's slaves (ALL of them), so now there's a house of undead creatures, some of which just keep talking about how hungry they are, and I don't know what they eat. Durge has saved/freed so many monsters, and poor monster hunter Wyll must be so exasperated lmao. He must really love him to agree with these decisions.

Other than that... They saved all but three Gondians total (all deaths happened at the Foundry). And they saved all the people from the Steel Watchers where you connect with the brains, which was a miracle because Wyll has 10 wisdom (had to use him because Durge has 8 lol), and he passed two 25 roll checks. They also saved the hag victims, Oskar, Volo, Florrick, Ulder, the usual. Unfortunately all the cashguards and a few citizens died to the Bhaalists. But Durge rejected Bhaal, Wyll broke his contract and became the Blade of Avernus, they got engaged, they saved the city, and then they went to Avernus to kill devils together.
Also, jack of all trades is ridiculous. Just look at this:
Funny that the two things he's worst at are religion and animal handling since he's a Bhaalspawn and part fox lol.
Anyway, I saw numerous things I'd never seen before, either because I just never noticed before or I did things in a different way/order. I saw a bunch of Wyll dialogue I'd never seen. I finally started to get the hang of combat lol. Wild magic created its own unique chaos. My 10th playthrough, and I still had fun!

(Mods: Vulpine Starter Pack. Pretty Boys Head Presets. Bububull's hair pack 02. Terpsichore - Wyll Edits. Neil's Bangin' Bard Gear Volume 2. Slutty Closet. Basket Full of Equipment?)

@tacticalgrandma What is the cut scene? I’ve never heard of it
Kinda wish that were me.
This is the original, more graphic feral ending where Bhaal forces Durge into a state of sexual hyperarousal in a life as a breeding mare/stud, featuring them waking up next to a gnoll after being forced to breed with it. For reasons that escape me, even though they've removed other older and unused scenes from the dialogue files as new patches are released this one is still there. Can't wait to check Patch 8 to see if they've finally removed it.
Warnings for rape and bestiality and me getting a bit corrective with the lore because I can't control myself:
File name END_GameFinale_RomanceFates_DarkUrge in the Act 3 Endgame folder in the extracted dialogues.
Narrator: *As you awaken, your naked form aches with the exertions of coupling. Its effusions mingle with the cesspool around you. Your lover sleeps yet. The Urge has congealed in your mind and made of you a beast: a feral carcass with but a twitching knife-arm.*
Dialogue options:
Hnghhhh. Mmrhgh. Hee.
When will it end? When will it end?
Father, I vow to thee: the call to coupling bewitches my loins, and I shall heed it.
Narrator: *Bhaal has use left for you. Following your failure, a new duty swelled within you: Sire a new legion of Bhaalspawn, and set them upon self-slaughter. Your progeny must succeed where you fell.*
Gnoll [dev text says Worg, but the dialogue says gnoll]: 'Rah. Hrrhn. You mate well. Mate like will die soon.'
Narrator: *With your holy mission came the power to commune with the beasts.* [Which as a side note is odd for this example, because both gnolls and worgs can speak Common just fine, but eh.]
GrrraAGGH.
Scream
Take pride, you may have bred a new Bhaalspawn.
Narrator: *Your memory of last night's act is absent. In the moment of mounting, your mind emptied itself, and you could think only of Bhaal. The gnoll's rump seemed to become his Temple's graven altar where you once led worship.* [Whether Durge is thinking of Bhaal or Bhaal is forcing this is up in the air, I don't know which is worse.]
Gnoll: 'Quit stirring. Want sleep. Done with mate.'
Bah!
NO! Again! And AGAIN!
My lust is not yet sated.
I feel the burning within me. If you cannot fulfil it, I must depart to seek a new brood-partner.
Narrator: *Bhaal demands the birth of a horde. On your back in your septic nest, were you to encounter fifty a night, it would still not be enough.*
Gnoll: Leave. Never see again. You not gnoll. Will not be litter. [Another aside as I get nit-picky again that half-gnolls have come up once, somewhere. That might have come from a source even less accurate than BG3 though]
Pitter-patter!
Think me not a slave to mere nature: the children will be most beautiful.
New creatures will be grafted... such is the power of the Divine Essence.
Narrator: *So you wander out alone to the rancid wastes, looking for the next creature who will accept your diseased embrace. What delights will you plumb next? Displacer beasts? Worgs? Carrion-crawlers? Thus you shall spend the rest of your days rutting, the lash of Father's disappointment the only thought in your rat's mind.*
-
And somehow this still doesn't fuck me up as much as 'Father, I love you. I'm a good [boy/girl/spawn]. A good good [boy/girl/spawn]' from the version they actually used, particularly in light of 'you could think only of Bhaal.'
I always keep coming back to the Durge/Bhaal undertones because Durge and Orin (and Helena) get no resolution with the shit going on in their backstories.
Helena's already dead.
Orin gets to have a very understandable nervous breakdown before she dies, the closest she will ever see to sympathy is the pc telling her she was abused, and after her death them calling her father out (even Durge can call him vile). For all the good that does Orin at this point. But she's dead and we're never talking about this again.
Then there's the Blood Wedding, and 'well,' I argued with myself, 'there are other meanings of the word 'wed.'' But then there's the multiplayer dialogue that happens if Durge doesn't face Orin and fight her where Sceleritas flat out calls it 'leaving the wedding at the altar' and oh no, that was intentional after all! And the whole thing in the cut but still present in the files scene with the gnoll where Bhaal forces you to think about him during sex/rape.
Not going into how both were presumably subject to the Ecstasy of Murder, and the Bhaalists' obsession with breeding Bhaal's kids as per BG2 and 3. Plus, it's not necessarily a norm, but nor is the Bhaalist incest an isolated incident, as per the Gugari on the other side of the continent.
There is no closure and barely any acknowledgment for either of them, it just gnaws a hole into my brain, sits there forever unresolved and rakes claws through my brain unbearably.
#Me in the middle of typing out an absolute horror scene: But the real horror here is the lore inaccuracies /j#babbling#edgelord hours#villainous nonsense#the family circle#/durge#long post
