Led Zeppelin - “Whole Lotta Love” (1969)
Fifty-five years ago today, on November 7th, 1969, “Whole Lotta Love,” the sole single from the album Led Zeppelin II by Led Zeppelin, was released in the US. “Whole Lotta Love” was, as was their custom at the time, not released in the UK, due to the band’s insistence that radio-edited singles were not their forte and chose instead to concentrate on albums. However, in the US, the song was an immediate hit, ultimately peaking at No. 4 on the Hot 100 and becoming the band’s only US top-10 hit. The intense heavy blues riff, combined with the impassioned lyric (some of which was retroactively credited to blues musician Willie Dixon) has led the song to be hailed as one of the greatest rock songs and guitar riffs of all time.

“Bron Yr Aur Stomp”, by Led Zeppelin. Live at Earls Court, 1975.
It’s pronounced “Brawn Er Eyer”. The lyrics concern Robert Plant talking about the joys of taking a walk with his herding dog, named Strider.

Led Zeppelin - Led Zeppelin IV (1971)
Fifty-three years ago today, on November 8th, 1971, the untitled fourth studio album by Led Zeppelin was released. Commonly referred to as Led Zeppelin IV, original pressings of the album have no text on either the front or back covers and even lacks a catalog number on the spine, a decision that required threats from the band to withhold the masters if Atlantic Records did not comply. In the UK, the album debuted at No. 10 on the charts and took the top spot the following week, charting for a total of 90 weeks. In the US, it was the band’s bestselling record but peaked at No. 2, failing to capture the top spot. With near-unanimous critical acclaim on its release, the album is one of the bestselling albums of all time and is considered by many to be the band’s masterpiece, the greatest heavy rock album ever, and among the greatest albums of all time.

If I cannot shut the fuck up about Raise a Suilen it's probably because of this fucking solo from "7th LIVE" - worth noting that there's actually a whole 3min epic drum solo before this starts, but I cut it off so tumblr would let me post this. As a full-time dad-prog-rock appreciator, this is one of my favorite performances from them, their skills are fucking insane and I'm not even talking about Raychell's surreal vocal skills. istg this never gets old!! <3
