stop acting like maya fey is some “stupid gremlin” or “useless” or whatever get better jokes

maya is really fucking smart and resourceful:

turnabout sisters: quickly figured out who killed mia, knew mia was trying to take him down and mia even entrusted her with holding/hiding documents and evidence for her, reminded nick to bluff like her sister did (she’s very familiar with mia’s techniques!!), when nick was arrested instead and she was released from jail, she’s willing to break him out or defend him instead

turnabout samurai: i don’t remember this case as well, but she’s part of the reason why phoenix didn’t just tell will to find another attorney

turnabout goodbyes: spends the case feeling useless because she put a lot of her self worth on weather or not she can channel mia (which is unhealthy and awful pressure for a 17 year old!), she figured out who the victim was even though she only met robert hammond once, without her, edgeworth would have been found guilty in day one since manfred threatened to hold the defense in contempt of court if phoenix unnecessarily pressed lotta’s testimony--maya bit the bullet and objected so nick could keep going and lotta revealed more information, grabbed the bullet from manfred when she and phoenix were fucking tased, she was actually the one who connected the dots and figured out manfred was the one who killed gregory, and since she grabbed the bullet they were able to get manfred to confess.

lost turnabout: again, i don’t remember this case either, but she got phoenix some last minute evidence and helped guide him through defending people again

reunion and turnabout: she doesn’t get to do too much in this case but, she gives phoenix the magatama, probably the most important thing in his case files

turnabout big top: i skipped this one so if someone could tell me what she does please feel free to add onto this!!!!!

farewell my turnabout: even though she get’s kidnapped, maya takes initiative and escapes the cellar she was trapped in, uses the limited time she had to gather as much evidence & information as she possibly can, channels mia so she could send phoenix information, and writes him that note that pretty much is her telling him to prioritize the truth over her own life, which is essential to phoenix’s arc in JFA and especially this case, and the next time she channeled mia, she was able to help everyone find out where maya and de killer were hiding so gumshoe could snag the evidence that turned de killer against engarde.

the stolen turnabout: phoenix would not have gotten involved without the feys! maya convinced phoenix to touch whatever was in luke atmney’s bag which helped him prove that he stole the urn, maya explains shit about kurain’s customs to phoenix (which is!!! important!!!! to bridge to the turnabout and understanding pearl fey), she (and pearl) realized there was something weird about the sacred urn (which was true!!)

recipe for turnabout: i dont try to think about it that much tbh its got AWFUL characters and writing but maya helps phoenix get into the kitchen, which would have otherwise been off limits to him, at one point she tells phoenix to stop being a slob and clean up (AKA SHE’S TIDY)

bridge to the turnabout: she dragged phoenix and pearls out there to begin with, was willing to freeze for her own training (she’s dedicated!), wanted to help pearls and elise (AKA HER FUCKING MOM) make dinner (she wants to be helpful to people), able to recognize misty’s scroll because of her symbol (even if she couldn’t recognize her, which is SUPER FUCKED UP), when she regained consciousness after dahlia failed to kill her (and she just watched a woman get murdered in front of her when she was already panicked and scared) she immediately channeled mia for advice, she took the advice to heart and A) locked herself up alone in a dark and unstable and freezing cave B) CHANNELED THE WOMAN WHO TRIED TO KILL HER WITHOUT KNOWING IF SHE WOULD FIGURE IT OUT, when the trial ended she knew how much the case would effect pearls, so she decided to be strong for her and smile instead of focusing on what a traumatizing experience she was just through (”maya is a much wiser person than she appears...”-edgeworth)

feel free to add anything i missed, especially for soj stuff and cases i don’t remember very well!! (but don’t be a clown and add a “joke” about “how much of a gremlin” she is)

tldr; maya fey is a smart, resourceful, tough, and brave. stop treating her like a one dimensional character who only cares about food and being annoying.
